Rick Moranis, the 5′-5″, 67-year-old mostly retired comedian in movies like Ghostbusters, Spaceballs, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, was the victim of an unprovoked racist attack as he walked down the street.
Moranis, whose wife died in 1991, slowed his acting career in the 1990s to spend more time with his kids and because he was sick of big budget movies. But he recently signed to do a sequel of Shrunk.
If Americans were to come together to make up a list of celebrities they wouldn’t mind seeing randomly punched in the face for racist reasons, most people would put Rick Moranis’s name very, very near the bottom. Moranis is kind of Joe Pesci of comedy films: a short career but fondly remembered.

Here’s the thing white people have to be prepared for – you must keep an eye on the proximity of young black men who look like this perp. There may be others nearby looking out and/or recording too. Don’t be surprised if you get called out for creating some distance or even looking at them for more than a passing glance; forget being polite or desiring their esteem. It’s impossible to always be in groups of friends, so we have to make sure when alone that we’re not in a position to be victims. They do not fight fair EVER. That gives them their advantage over us. Of course, the best defense would be a good offense but it’s not that time yet.

Same way with many other violent criminals. All said they never wanted to taste the Rotan again, and it was not worth having fights any more.
This convinced me that it was an effective deterrent to violent crime, better than all the statistics.
That being said, I strongly believe that children should not be caned if possible and I myself have only smacked my kids on the behind one or twice lightly when they were toddlers(once when my oldest boy punched his mother on her nose when he was 3YO)
Since then, my kids have all learnt some basic boxing and also safely keep their own firearms and ammo(having brought them to the range since they were 12YO), I think they have also grown up in a reasonably responsible manner.
Insofar as the Eight amendment is concerned, it should be overlooked for crimes committed while imprisoned. If infractions are committed in prison, there should be a semi-judicial hearing carried out by the prison authorities, and upon a finding of guilt, a sentence of corporeal punishment should be served, with the prison population in observance.
Something like caning or whippings.

Have you seen his 80s turn hosting SNL? He has perhaps the best host segment in the run of the program. He essentially plays a guy who is overjoyed to be hosting. He says nothing, but dances around looking drunkenly happy, and attempts to “participate” in show functions like camera manipulation and make-up.

Same way with many other violent criminals. All said they never wanted to taste the Rotan again, and it was not worth having fights any more.

That being said, I strongly believe that children should not be caned if possible and I myself have only smacked my kids on the behind one or twice lightly when they were toddlers(once when my oldest boy punched his mother on her nose when he was 3YO)

Insofar as the Eight amendment is concerned, it should be overlooked for crimes committed while imprisoned. If infractions are committed in prison, there should be a semi-judicial hearing carried out by the prison authorities, and upon a finding of guilt, a sentence of corporeal punishment should be served, with the prison population in observance.

We should respect law school graduates but the fact is inescapable that (1) blacks are major committers of crimes, and (2) prison is totally meaningless to blacks — it does not threaten, it does not diminish, it does not punish, and it cannot reform — so (3) a huge number of people who chose to become criminals are totally unaffected by our major anti-criminal mechanism. It’s like if medical doctors threw water balloons at cancer patients, then shrugged and went to have a steak, and if you question it they wonder where you went to medical school. If you mean Gramercy Park then the answer is an emphatic Yes. There are few sites in Manhattan as redolent of what New York once was: discreetly grand apartment buildings for the cultured rich, two or three gentleman’s clubs whose exclusivity is no mere cherished memory, a modest garden, private, for one’s daily stroll, and finally a fine vista up Lexington Avenue to remind you that you are indeed in the world’s greatest city rather than a forgotten corner of London.
But the city of the subways, the Yankees and, ye gods, greasy pizzas the size of (a?) speedboat is somehow not at all what is in my mind’s eye when I think of that magical place. For me it is the Plaza, where a pair of grandparents spent their honeymoon and where one of their closest friends lived from the day it opened until she died there fifty years later, her parties today still legendary; the Ritz Tower, where an aunt and uncle would put me up until they too moved out West; the clubs, particularly the University, whose library was given its world class reputation by a Yalie cousin, and the Century, founded by a twice great grandfather who then never darkened its door again; the Stock Exchange, founded in another ancestor’s very counting house; finally (for the moment) the theatre world and memories of going back stage to see my grandfather’s old friends and collaborators like Noel Coward, Douglas Fairbanks and Bea Lilly.
Not to mention the more public joys like Saks Fifth Avenue, the Waldorf Astoria, the Frick, the churches like St Vincent Ferrer’s, and Central Park. Best of all the great vistas from 96th down Park Avenue to that Grand Central you evoke so strikingly. Wonderful in all weathers, but magical beyond telling on a winter’s eve, with the snow swirling heavily down, each flake, it would seem, picked out by myriad bright lights, from windows five hundred feet above to the headlights of the taxis sweeping past.
It was an age by and for giants, so of course it’s gone, and it won’t be coming back.

The ceiling of the library of the University Club is spectacular. A friend of my parents used to invite us occasionally. He’d drive down from his Museum Mile apartment in his ‘95 Mercury Sable. He passed away last year and then his widow passed away earlier this year. She’d had cancer for years but they probably marked her down as a COVID death.

Jackie Gleason had the misfortune of being heckled in the audience by a guy one night in a club in New Jersey. Gleason finally had enough of the heckler and asked him to go outside. Gleason was surprised at how fast this obnoxious, fellow jumped out of his seat and headed for the door. Gleason went out and this guy hit him once and knocked him cleaned out. When they awakened Gleason, they told him he was just knocked out by former heavyweight contender, Tony Galento. Wrong guy that night to call out I guess.
Don Rickles was tame when compared to some of the later comics and shit I have witnessed in comedy clubs in the 1980s and 1990s. I guess comedy clubs peaked in the 80s and 90s and aren’t that big a deal now, at least not what they once were, either that or my old ass is out the loop, which it is indeed. I always thought (((Rickles))) was overrated and his career was made for him by being Jewish, of course I always thought Frank Sinatra was way overrated and his career was made for him by being Eye-talian and a little influence by the guys in expensive suits, with funny nicknames that sounded like they starred in porno films like Cock-Eyed Lou, Johnny Sausage, Matty The Horse, Sammy The Bull or Whitey Bulger.
Like the case I mentioned in a previous post with Jackie Gleason and Tony Galento, I saw plenty of hecklers get under the comic’s skin as well. Most “comedians” are thin skinned when the tables are turned, I have seen it so many times. And look at Robin Williams, a great deal of comedians are really miserable people in their personal life, nothing at all like their stage acts.
Interesting thread at 4chan, mostly censored (including all of my comments) and clumsily "nudged" (including idiots who honestly claimed that Rick Moranis getting attacked wasn't a news story or entertainment related). Tons of admiration for Moranis for having left his career at its peak to take care of his kids -- also censored. The thread was to be moved to a different board but apparently automatically entered the archive before this could finish (moderators are incompetant as well as leftists?), so it can be read albeit in its heavily censored remains.
