White House Considered Releasing Migrants in ‘Sanctuary Cities’

April 11, 2019WASHINGTON — President Trump’s top aides considered an idea to pressure immigration agencies to release apprehended migrants into so-called sanctuary cities represented by Democratic lawmakers, according to several people familiar with the proposal. …
Ms. Davis suggested that migrants who had been apprehended and were slated to be released into border towns could instead be taken to one of several sanctuary cities, which limit how local law enforcement can cooperate with federal immigration officers.
The proponents of the idea inside the White House argued at the time that it would help with overcrowding at nonprofit shelters in border towns by transferring the migrants to cities that already embrace the idea of having more immigrants, one official said.
Once there, the migrants would be released onto the streets — potentially sending a message to the Democratic politicians who oppose Mr. Trump’s immigration agenda and his demands for a wall along the border with Mexico.
… Matthew Albence, the acting deputy director of ICE, objected to the idea, telling the White House that there would be liability issues if a migrant were injured during transport. He also raised concerns that the agency’s budget had not been appropriated for that purpose.
A spokeswoman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, who represents San Francisco, one of the most high-profile sanctuary cities in the country, condemned the idea on Thursday night.
“The extent of this administration’s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated,” said Ashley Etienne, a spokeswoman for Ms. Pelosi. “Using human beings — including little children — as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable, and in some cases, criminal.”
Ms. Etienne added, “The American people have resoundingly rejected this administration’s toxic anti-immigrant policies, and Democrats will continue to advance immigration policies that keep us safe and honor our values.”
Pelosi’s spokesperson went on to say that if undocumented migrants were released in the streets of San Francisco they might catch cholera from all the feces.
The reaction across the left to this story betrays a lack of self-awareness.
Reminds me of how Netanyahu occasionally threatens to ship Eritrean migrants from South Tel Aviv to kibbutzes.

You would think there would be a liability issue for those who aid and abet illegal entry and shield criminals from law. Same should be true for politicians, attorneys general and courts that facilitate illegal entry and ignore its cost to citizens, whether that cost is only increased taxation and loss of quality of life or rape, murder and diseases that should have been quarantined from entry. I am an unwilling hostage to Oregon polices that require me to pay education and healthcare for those who illegally enter. A liberal I know complained after a visit to Frisco about the problem they must have with the sewage system because he kept smelling sewage while walking on the streets. Actually, SF also has a sewage system problem. Turns out the system pipes were laid with too little slope to handle the reduced flow from low-flow toilets, causing solid waste to back up and clog the city’s pipes. Got to love those Sanctuary City types, who seem to have no clue about things like unintended consequences and externalities; we should be taking policy guidance from them?

Trump should build refugee housing in Malibu and other wealthy sanctuary towns. Since the politicians from these areas are the reason we have open borders and will continue to see caravans from Latin America infiltrating our nation. Dropping the refugees off in San Francisco is a great idea, but he needs to ensure the sanctuary cities are overwhelmed with migrants, which forces the towns to raise taxes to build more schools to accommodate the thousands of refugees dumped in San Francisco each month by building migrant housing facilities in these cities.
We should build a big camp in Nevada, like the ones that housed Manhattan Project workers or more like Joe Arpaio's tent jail, in federal land for refugees and make it clear that these applications will proceed at the pace of Death Row appeals. They'll be fed confinement loaf and day-old bread and other incomestibles, and their shitting on the ground will be ok as long as they dig a hole and bury it. This will be enforced. Able bodied men will drill with shovels instead of guns and march a lot, women will be Norplanted. Resisters will be loaded on a C-130 and repatriated overnight. MS-13 members might have a problem with venturing too far on the ramp out of curiosity and going out with the slipstream with, of course, no parachutes.
As compared to that, Guatemala and Honduras won't be so unattractive, especially if we let a few SEAL teams go in and whack the most vicious gangbangers as a training exercise. Blooding the troops and all that.

Frisco, Texas does not have a sewage problem. Nice clean streets and sidewalks. Plus the AA affiliate for the Texas Rangers and The Star, the indoor practice facility of the Dallas Cowboys.

The problem is that Trump won’t actually DO any of this.
He said he was going to build a big, beautiful wall. Over two years later and nothing. He was going to issue an executive order ending birthright citizenship. He didn’t do anything other than talk about it. He didn’t close the border. He did send some military to the border – to do nothing but sit around and then leave a short time later.
Now, we learn that there was a proposal quite a while back to dump the immigrants in sanctuary cities. Of course, this went nowhere. Since the story came out, Trump is suddenly “considering” it again.
Trump says a lot (which is entertaining because it makes the left go insane), but he doesn’t actually do anything about the immigration.

I’d like to see an old Air Force transport jet, say a C-5 Galaxy, taken out of the boneyard and configured for max capacity for moving humans. Turn that baby in to a flying cattle car.
Then every day just head on down to Texas and fill it up to max capacity, which I’m sure is upwards of four or five hundred, and delivery a giant steaming portion of wondrous virtue to the sanctuary city of the day. If there’s not a big enough airport near by, a couple dozen school buses, or even better, Google buses, could be used to close the gap.
Mission 1, two or three trips to SFO, with beautiful big buses dropping off the cargo in the Marina district, Nob Hill, Outer Sunset.
If Nancy doesn’t want to talk, next week a couple more trips. It stops when a deal is made.

Tucker Carlson featured this story on his show tonight. He had on one of his stock liberal stooges (Chris Hahn, a former Shumer aide) to give the contra-opinion. It was funny when Carlson summed up Hahn’s position by saying “that’s crap, Chris.”. There really is no coherent objection that liberals can make to this. Their reaction makes manifest their hypocrisy.

even better, with all the empty schools in San Francisco and the declining enrollment in the Los Angeles public schools the teachers unions would embrace this plan to relocate the hundreds of thousands of migrant children to their districts. Another reason this is a workable plan until we close the borders. We can even convert some of the old schools to refugees dormitories while they build the low cost housing for the migrants.

Millions have fled Puerto Rico over the last 15 years , we should relocate the migrants to the Island of Puerto Rico because they need more people. They will be welcomed by their fellow “hispanics” and will find it easier to integrate due to their common language.

Of course leftists don’t want a flood of illegal immigrants released into their “sanctuary cities”. This is all about importing new leftist voters to turn red states blue, or at least “purple”. It doesn’t further this end to have immigrants shipped to cities that are already solid blue.
It’s true Trump hasn’t been able to deliver on his rhetoric, partly due to his lack of follow through and partly to determined opposition from all quarters. Still, I’ll take a blowhard that says things I agree with over all previous blowhard presidents, who’ve said nothing I agreed with. At least it gets some refreshing ideas into the discussion.
