Here’s an article from The Guardian news section that would be interesting to do a social science experiment upon:
Upon reading this article, which answer would the largest number of "Guardian" readers (not you, but "Guardian" readers) choose in answer to the "Guardian's" question:
"Asian Americans are buying guns in record numbers. What’s caused this surge?"https://t.co/tNIShoXHFH

Asian Americans are buying guns in record numbers. What’s caused this surge?
More than 5 million people became first-time owners during the pandemic as gun sales to the community rose by about 43%
by Claire Wang in Los Angeles
I get the impression Ms. Wang knows what’s going on, but she’s not going to get her career canceled by coming out and saying it.
Tue 16 Aug 2022 06.00 EDT
Vivian Moon, a real estate agent and artist, had never felt particularly afraid as a woman living alone in Buena Park, a small California city outside Los Angeles. But when violent attacks against Asian women and seniors increased across the US early last year, she became disillusioned with the police’s ability – and willingness – to protect people who looked like her.
So, like many other Americans of Asian descent, she decided to buy a gun. “I realized I have to take ownership of how I want to live my life,” said Moon, 33.
In the year since, Moon said she’s made an effort to reach out and teach her friends, many of whom are women of color, about gun safety. As a Korean woman who grew up in the 1990s, Moon is also inspired by the legacy of the Los Angeles uprising and the armed Korean immigrants who defended their businesses on rooftops when riots broke out in South Central. “Back then Korean Americans took a stand and took their safety into their own hands,” she said.
I talk a lot about how most of what anybody cares about anymore is Who and Whom. But then there are articles like these about the Whom of interracial violence, Asians, that come with almost zero mention of the Who.
Now, you know and I know, who was threatening Korean shop-owners during the Rodney King Riot, but how many Guardian readers are going to connect the dots?
Gun ownership rates soared to record heights during the pandemic, as more than 5 million people became first-time owners, according to the trade organization National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). That includes Asian Americans. As videos of anti-Asian violence began flooding social media and cable news, gun sales to Asian Americans, though still significantly lower than those of other racial groups, rose by an estimated 43%.
Asian Americans who experienced or witnessed increased acts of racism at the start of the pandemic were more likely to buy firearms for self-defense, according to a new peer-reviewed study from the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. More than half of those who purchased a gun are first-time owners.
“Racism is like a time bomb that causes stress and anxiety, which increases people’s intention to buy firearms,” said Tsu-Yin Wu, the lead researcher and director of EMU’s Center for Health Disparities Innovation and Studies. …
During the pandemic, a host of Asian American affinity groups have emerged in southern California to provide resources and a sense of community to new gun owners. Tom Nguyen founded LA Progressive Shooters to provide firearms education to people of color, after seeing a “massive increase in first time gun owners”, particularly single women and queer people.
Nguyen, who leads introductory classes on firearm storage and shooting, said the pandemic has been a “lightning rod moment” for Asian Americans and other marginalized groups of people who previously have held an ambivalent or fearful attitude toward guns.
“Many folks are intimidated by these conservative, white-dominated spaces that don’t seem very friendly to them,” he said. “So the gun industry has a long way to go in terms of addressing more diverse segments of our population who are interested but feel forgotten or ignored.”
… Some gun rights activists, though, see the current surge as the dismantling of historical barriers, since Asians on the west coast were not always allowed to practice their second amendment rights. In 1923, California passed a law denying non-citizens the right to possess concealable firearms. That ruled out Chinese immigrants, a majority of whom were barred from naturalizing by the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.
Asian Pacific American Gun Owners Association, a non-partisan group formed last March amid a rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, publishes educational materials regarding gun safety and usage in multiple Asian languages. Chris Cheng, a board member and winner of History Channel’s Top Shot competition, said that the civil unrest and relentless scapegoating over the past couple of years have pushed many Asians to arm up for the first time in their lives.
“You see all this eroding trust in our public institutions and our criminal justice system,” Cheng said, citing the January 6 insurrection and calls to defund the police. …
Nathan Tiep, 42, and his wife are in the process of buying their first gun after seeing news coverage of home invasions near their neighborhood of Boyle Heights. Tiep, the son of Cambodian refugees, grew up in Long Beach in the 1990s, where deadly clashes between Asian and Latino gangs made him numb to gun violence.
This is this long article’s only mention of a particular Who when it comes to gun violence, and it only comes where Asian (presumably Cambodian or Laotian) gangs can be equated with Latino gangs. Blacks are of course never mentioned in this article.
“We knew what guns can do but weren’t afraid of it,” he said.
More so than the surge in attacks against Asians, Tiep said his decision to buy a gun was shaped by the Black Lives Matter protests during the pandemic, which have shattered his trust in law enforcement.
“The past few years have brought to light how the police are with people,” he said. “You’ve seen people get shot and killed by police. Do you really trust that they will serve and protect us?”
Whatever their other faults, Asians tend to be good at figuring out which way the wind is blowing.
Yeah, “Progressive Shooters” sounds like a totally representative and not-at-all biased source on why people want guns. Contra to his comments, Vietnamese and Laotions in California are very into gun culture and tend to be conservative. Presumably this because so many of the original refugees were officers in the SVA or Laotion recruits in our dirty war there.
They aren’t getting guns to protect against their white Orange County neighbors.
Study gun ownership by type and caliber. I would wager that 9 mm is the preferred pistol of choice among a certain demographic, 45 ACP for mine and 357 for a third.
BtW, in case anyone didn’t get the memo, uprising is the word now used for “righteous” riots, while riot is the word for when white people do…pretty much anything at all. Short of rioting.
Your silence is violence! Our violence is speech.
I know how they feel. I’m terrified of the Yellow Menace so I’ve armed myself to the teeth.
1) Isn’t everybody in the States buying guns in record numbers these days, regardless of race?
2) Pre-existing cultural attitudes to guns vary with the ethnic group. Filipinos have always had a strong gun culture, for instance. They’ve run a lot of California gun ranges for generations. Not that it matters that much. Gun interest is exploding all around, especially with the young, and it’s just going to go up as the government makes a malevolent ass-clown out of itself.
3) The fact that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime, antisocial behavior, etc within the United States is mostly an open secret abroad. In countries where official press censorship is still a thing (China, Vietnam, on a much lighter-touched/kind scale, Singapore), people also tend to get good at noticing what the news doesn’t say, and drawing conclusions on what they aren’t “supposed” to believe by the local powers-that-be.
>This is this long article’s only mention of a particular Who when it comes to gun violence, and it only comes where Asian (presumably Cambodian or Laotian) gangs can be equated with Latino gangs.
Southeast Asian gangs are small-timers, in terms of scale and brutality, compared to the Mexican drug cartels or the likes of MS-13. Again, it is not as if foreigners are unaware of this. Chinese supplied fentanyl go through Mexico, and organized crime in the Sinosphere has ties with the big hitters in places like Sinaloa. It’s a lucrative global operation. Chinese brokers will launder cartel money to places where the US can’t do anything about it. People know what is what.
The US government and the lay public might be obsessed about everything black thanks to media influence, but that doesn’t mean others don’t know where future demographics are heading. Organized crime south of the border is going to be the real ball game going forward in any sort of attempted demographic merger into a coherent national majority again.
(I suspect part of the reason that you don’t see an analogue with black attacks on Hispanics is because the cartels and Central American gangs have an extremely vindictive track record when it comes to dealing with inner city black communities that have offended them. Or haven’t, but just happen to be in their way. Birmingham style firebombings to get blacks to move out of increasingly Hispanicized neighborhoods used to be a reality in noughts LA, not that you’ll ever hear that from the media.)
How would any of us know what Guardian readers think? Even if you peruse the thing daily, all you have to go by is the comments, and those could be heavily screened based on the opinion in your poll. Oh, maybe you mean the Guardian readers that believe all that crap. That’s a slightly different question.
As Hypnotoad noted too, regarding Mr. Nguyen:
This guy’s just a flat-out liar. The Oriental guys he knows (Vietnamese, most, I’d guess) know what’s what, and even the black guys coming in for lessons want to be able to defend themselves … from black guys.
I guess whatever keeps his business in good graces with the Establishment is what matters. Integrity has no place here.
I used to think that even liberals wouldn’t be fooled by articles like this. But then I saw the results of a survey showing 44 percent of liberals think 1000 or more unarmed blacks were killed by police in America in 2019, the real figure being 25.
There is no dog-whistling in this Guardian piece. They don’t say that it’s blacks that are attacking Asians, and most of their readers probably won’t guess that it is. And the Asians themselves are savvy enough not to say so either.
I know plenty of Vietnamese and other Asians. Believe me, they know all about the Schwartzes and are not fans.
But yeah, they know how to play the “hate-Whites” game well.
The Black shooters killed a (apparently) non-Asian woman and wounded an Asian woman.
I really wish white people would stop assaulting and killing East Asians in California. I’ve had just about enough of this.
This guy killed five Latinos this morning in Florida. Will it even be called killing, much less murder, much less mass murder? Shouldn’t we all just move on instead? PS: The one Whose Life Matters is doing fine, thanks for your concern.

“How would any of us know what Guardian readers think?”
Well if you simply substitute “lefti$t a$$hole$” for “Guardian readers” it becomes fairly easy to infer.
Besides, like all leftists and Wokesters (BIRM), Guardian readers don’t really “think” in the way humans would understand the term. They emote, they selectively and self-servingly edit, they steam and fume and whine, they do the point-and-shriek. Their alleged brains are full of buzzwords and slogans and chants. Actual thinking would lead to Wrong Conclusions so not only don’t they think, they can’t think. If it doesn’t start with “Hey hey, ho ho” then I’m not certain they can process it.
Everybody goes around saying there has been an increase in attacks against asians. Where is the data to back that up? (There is none give in these excerpts). Specifically, if there has been an increase, how does it compare to any increase in attacks against Whites? Whites have been suffering the brunt of black violence for decades if not centuries.
Steve writes: “But then there are articles like these about the Whom of interracial violence, Asians, that come with almost zero mention of the Who.”
Asians are not the Whom of interracial violence. At most, they are a Whom. If any race is the victim of black violence in the United States, it is Whites.
Nowadays, the typical use of the term “dog whistle” is freighted with anti-white racism: it’s a whistle only “dogs” (used here as a pejorative metaphor for whites) are attuned to (and possibly also one that only “dogs” emit). It could be dicey to use the term “dog whistle” (say, on Twitter) to refer to anyone else but whites.
So maybe a more suitable word to use in this iSteve item is “panda whistle”?
Just as nebulafox wrote:
Isn’t everybody in the States buying guns in record numbers these days, regardless of race?
Most people who may read The Guardian only know one thing: Americans have lot of guns and use them frequently. The “Who Whom” analysis is interesting for those inside the country. Most outside the country just see a mosaic image – American.
^^^^^^
malevolent ass-clown
How many drag queens in California call themselves “Ms. Wang”? Probably more than one.
I imagine Indochinese would indeed. Especially those with roots in Pol’s pot.
Why did Steve put the Guardian in quotation marks like three times?
But The Guardian is read by well-behaved yuppy types, all of them in the SWPL mode. These people are smart! How can they not get it?
Ah but then again maybe they do. Another possibility, speaking of Occam’s razor, is that they are narrow-minded little sociopaths who act “nice” but don’t have any loyalty to anyone, including their children.
Yes, they send their kids to nice schools. Just like they drop their Lexus off at a premium shop to be serviced. It ain’t about love. It’s just a sociopath’s desire for status.
Typical Guardian article. Anti White Anti American and anti European Christian culture. Very similar to the articles about persons of unknown race attack older asians. because of Trump and racist Whites. And notice the article managed to imply that Asians and queers are being attacked by persons of unknown race.
Asians are solid democrat voters. Blacks are solid democrat voters.
OT, sort of:
Off Topic, but it seems there is a town in Turkey called ‘Kumbag’.
Steve, I will send you £100 if you start a campaign to have a statue of Kamala Harris presented to the citizens of Kumbag.
If people question your motives, you can say that it is because of Kumbag’s geo-strategic location between the Marmara and Black Seas, and Turkey’s membership of Nato.
Obviously this isn’t the real reason, but if there’s one thing UR has taught me it’s that politics is all about disguising your true motives.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumba%C4%9F
What is the law on non citizens buying firearms? I recall a year or so ago some Saudi military in a training program near Pensacola got arrested ( and then deported ?) when they were found to be buying firearms.
If Biden wants to pass some effective gun restrictions denying non citizens the right to buy firearms might be popular if unconstitutional but when has that ever stopped Biden?
I don’t read The Guardian. I read The Off Guardian:
https://off-guardian.org/
Although from South Sudan, I bet he considers himself Arab, not African, culturally.
What the Dickens!
“if you simply substitute “lefti$t a$$hole$” for “Guardian readers” it becomes fairly easy to infer.”
Come to think of it, this brings up a good chicken-and-egg question. Do you become an a$$hole because you’re a leftist, or do you become a leftist because you’re already an a$$hole?
The “Los Angeles uprising” made the mistake of getting a little too close to the Koreans’ liquor stores, so the Koreans had an uprising of their own (to their rooftops, armed with guns) and started righteously firing into the crowd, settling the matter of who/whom decidedly in their favor. Today, we join Miss Moon in taking inspiration from her rooftop co-ethnics, though we wouldn’t mind sharing their racial privilege to gun down rioting blacks free from legal consequence.
He could be taking a shot, but I believe he is simply following his Steve style guide where he would put “The Guardian” in italics, as one would a book title. And perhaps Twitter doesn’t have italics–I don’t tweet and have no idea–and he is using the standard backup with is double quotes instead.
Whether the name of newspaper should be in italics, like the name of a book, seems to be one of those issues where different folks–different style guides–have different answers.
White man can’t get a break in England:

As long as Asian leadership, such as it is, refuses to publicly call out the 800 pound bat-wielding negro in the room, those yellow bodies will continue to pile up with increased frequency.
I’ve never before noted a race that collectively, steadfastly refused to stand up for their women, children, and elderly. Perhaps because of their over abundant population in their home countries, their lack of value of the weak becomes implicit to their culture.
Still depressing to watch transpire, over and over again. Especially with their poor elderly victims.
Hey, guys. Here’s a current “Print Screen” of the side tab of the Unz Review.
I wonder if reading the first article might better explain the observations noted in the second article.
I. “This guy’s (Tom Nguyen) just a flat-out liar.”
And that’s why you can’t believe anything he says. He’s an ugly asian activist, the group whom the fake news media have on speed dial for all of their hoax stories blaming Whites for black-on-asian hate crimes. When he says that “queer people” are one of the two groups (the other being single, asian women) most frequently buying guns for the first time, he’s just making that up, so that homosexuals can serve as political chaperones to single asian women. But if he’s lying about homosexuals, and virtually everything else, how can you trust him on single asian women? You can’t. And now, if you read someone else claim that single asian women are the largest group of first-time gun purchasers, how do you know if that’s a factual statement, as opposed to someone parroting ugly asian Nguyen (that’s a Vietnamese name)?
What does Tom Nguyen really do? It can’t be “firearms education.”
Recall the other day, when Steve fisked a White American woman, Lisa Jacobson, who claimed to be a pro-bicycle activist who visited Holland, only to complain that the Dutch fashioned their bicycling policies to serve…bicyclists! She wanted the Dutch to harm bicyclists, because they were overwhelmingly White, and instead serve bicycle-hating, racist, moslems. She blew her cover. Like so many “environmental” activists, she hates the environment, and is actually an activist in the White Genocide Project. Fortunately, people were permitted to comment honestly at the blog where she posted her “thing,” and readers ripped her a new one….
II. The same sabotage happens with immigration. A mook named Jerry Kammer, from the center for immigration studies, got a 1,444-word op-ed published in the new york times in January, 2020, which he opened by claiming he was a “liberal restrictionist” on immigration. However, if you read on carefully, you saw that he supported a nation-breaking, mass amnesty of third-world criminal invaders. Kammer managed to fool a bunch of old immigration hands I’ve been friendly with for years, who gushed over his “thing.” (They may have failed to read it through, after reading Kammer’s con.)
https://vdare.com/articles/so-liberal-restrictionist-jerry-kammer-got-to-publish-a-new-york-times-op-ed-but-only-by-conceding-the-case-for-amnesty
It gets harder and harder for people who don’t work full time at figuring out reality to know anything. Yesterday morning (circa 4:30 a.m.), for instance, new york city’s abc affiliate truth-scrubbed two stories. In one, 63-year-old, lifelong “reporter,” Lucy Yang (who used to be gorgeous, and still looks great for her age), was at a scene in the Bronx (Morrissania, I believe), where elderly hispanic women were complaining of being daily terrorized (especially after dark) in their own building by young people, none of whom lived there, and of the nypd refusing to enforce the law. Yang told us nothing about the demographics of the criminals. However, a staffer failed to properly “edit” the “thing,” so we heard one of the vics say these are girls.
So, it’s a girl gang, probably hispanic.
In the other story, the scrubbing was complete. An 18-year-old woman was stabbed on a Manhattan, L-train platform at 5 a.m., the previous day, by a stranger with whom she’d been in an argument.
Several hours earlier, the new york post had published a completely different report on the same incident. Two girl gangs were rioting on the train. The 18-year-old ran off at the subway stop, to escape, but was chased down and stabbed in the back by a member of the rival gang.
The post also published a big photo of one of the handcuffed gang girls, being led by a very short, fat, diverse police person (arab?), accompanied by a tall, trim, asian cop. She was about 18, slightly chubby, and had tattoos all over her left arm. Probably a lesbian, because hispanic girl gangs often are. During the 1990s, their uniform used to be dominated by bucket hats, though this one had a bare head. Maybe the uniform has changed.
So, the eyewitness news subway stabbing story was less than worthless, and Lucy Yang’s story was only accidentally of news value. Are any of its stories reliable?
For eons, later news stories would be updates of the initial dispatches, with lots of additional information. However, for over 30 years, the opposite has been the case, as media and police operatives pow-wow, in order to get their lies straight. (See the 1986 Bensonhurst I hate crime hoax.) Thus, the first version is often the closest you’re going to get to the truth.
Quit yer bitchin’, nance. Hispanics and Asians are way more likely to be victimized by blacks on a per capita basis. I’m curious how you even think black on white violence is a thing wheb literally like 5% of white people even live near a black area. Most white people live in small towns far away from the afrotropolis.
Johnny, hate to break it to you but Israel is not the be all and end all of what’s going on in America.
Israel is the age old, age old–a couple different tribes squabbling over the same patch of dirt. Turns out–shocking!–diversity is not actually a strength but a source of continuous contention.
Israel is most interesting for Americans for the “what Jews say here” / “what Jews do there” contrast.
But the plain reality is essentially all of America’s ills–a few foreign policy goofs and complications aside–would exist even if Israel did not exist.
I’m open to data, but I very much doubt this–especially the Asian part–is true.
Asians though urban are heavily concentrated in California and the Pacific Rim, which are not very black. And Asians tend to put themselves in Asian–where thick–or upper middle class white neighborhoods.
Hispanics are a better case as they tend to end up in some poorer and working class neighborhoods that may put them in proximity to/conflict with blacks. Mexicans ethnically cleansing several LA neighborhoods of blacks is well known. But Hispanics–while spreading out–are still very concentrated in the Southwest. The places that pop to mind for significant direct black-Hispanic contact now are New York, Chicago and Miami (Cuban/Haitian).
In contrast, whites share all the major NE/Midwest metros with blacks, and blacks are in not just the big metros, but in almost every medium and small sized city and town throughout the South. (Which is now far and away the most populous of America’s four traditional “regions”.) There is a constant toll of murders (few–one every day or two), rapes (many) and muggings, robberies and assaults (countless) by blacks on whites. It’s just so common as to not be newsworthy. In contrast, some Bay Area blacks have gotten more aggressive (so we’re told) bashing Asians the last couple years and it is national news.
Some people acquire guns but do not necessarily buy them in gun-stores.
Which proves that black-on-White violence is a huge thing. Whites fled to escape black violence. Even after having to resort to such extreme precautions, far more Whites are victimized by blacks than are Orientals.
The best one was Jeremy Lin last year getting his time in the ’15 minutes of hate’ spotlight over an unmanned and unraced black dude calling him ‘coronavirus’ during a G League game that nobody but the players’ mothers was watching.
Who’s doing all the ‘coronavirus’ name calling?
But Lin participates in the oblique discussion in the process turning it not into a critique of black outgroup hate but another nail hammered into the greater anti-white zeitgeist. Similar to Steve’s observation on Jewish feminists turning their annoyance at FOB Jewish parents disinterest in the achievements of their intellectual daughters into an attack at the supposed ‘patriarchy’ of mainstream America when it was the very contrast with the more open and liberal attitudes of gentile peers that drove their resentment.
It does raise the question if the average SJW is too stupid to understand why poor blacks may not like Asians much like the inability to admit why poor blacks may not like Jews. Crl+F ‘class’, Crl+F ‘immi’.
Indeed even this oblique discussion has caused so much resentment among blacks that it likely drove a lot of the increase. ‘Stop Asian Hate’ read like ‘Rich Asians have worse problems and are more important than you ghetto guys!’ to the guys doing this.
Would Jewish Americans treat America differently if they didn’t have “the State of Israel” in the back of their minds as as an escape hatch? It means they have less skin in the game in the fate of the United
Would Jewish Americans be less ethnocentric without the constant sense of external threat to Jews that the Zionist entity generates?
P.S.: The multitude of conflicts the United States has gotten embroiled in on account of the Zionist entity (Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, to name a few) are hardly trifles.
And we should pull the plug on it.
Asians know why they are here. They, or their ancestors, decided they’d be better off living in a white country. Minoritarianism gives cover for obfuscating this truth and bad mouthing whitey.
If Asians really want to be on “team Rainbow” peachy. But we should make it clear to them–and everyone else–that they are not welcome to bitch and whine about whitey … and live with us and milk the white cow.
For Asians, it’s a small price to pay for conquering American Whites and replacing Whites on the North American landmass. Whites are the main obstacle to achieving something great. Ambiguity about these attacks contributes to the ginning up of Asian solidarity against Whites, which helps in the fight for North America.
A number of Guardian articles are like this.
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2022/apr/28/dog-behaviour-has-little-to-do-with-breed-study-finds
It’s the old “there’s more variability within groups than between groups” mind trick, which IIRC we’ve seen applied to human genetics.
And as usual, you can find the truth further down.
Still on topic, NATO on “Cognitive Warfare” aka Propaganda. Judging by the MSM, Twutter, and the comments here, I’d have thought NATO were doing pretty well, if you can persuade people that Russia are shelling their own nuclear plants and blowing up their own ideologues (Daria Dugina’s memorial service has just finished).
I think it’s probably more of a post-hoc justification myself.

It would be refreshing to hear Asians express gratitude to Whites for allowing them to come here.
“But when violent attacks against Asian women and seniors increased across the US early last year, she became disillusioned with the police’s ability – and willingness – to protect people who looked like her.”
Negroes are not mentioned, but like negroes the author is still looking for a piece of that grievance pie.
9mm is superior in every way. More rounds fit in the magazine and there’s very little difference in terminal performance between 9mm/.45ACP/.357 Mag. .45 ACP and .357 only make sense in states where you’re not allowed to have >10rd magazines.
Of course Asians need the extra magazine capacity to defend themselves against marauding hordes of White Men #StopAsianHate. 🙂
The problem is with American whites. They don’t possess national-racial consciousness worth mentioning.
Of course, it was completely different in 1910. But, after the 1960s, many whites simply went nuts, and it seems to be irreversible, especially with the “help” of social media.
Here’s an article which claims to refute the obvious, and states that 75% of these incidents are White-on-Asian.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/viral-images-show-people-color-anti-asian-perpetrators-misses-big-n1270821
As usual, it takes some reading between the lines.
“…upward of 75 percentof news stories identified perpetrators as male and white in instances of physical or verbal assault and harassment when the race of the perpetrator was confirmed…”
In other words, it omits stories where the race of the perpetrator was not mentioned.
Anyway, the tone of the story is for Asians to keep focused on hating whitey.
Wisdom of the elders …
But it says right there:
“Many folks are intimidated by these conservative, white-dominated spaces that don’t seem very friendly to them,” he said.
Roving gangs of White Supremacists, no doubt.
I call it a new religion; now you know how the last pagans felt, watching Christian mobs riot over Trinitarian doctrine.
Maybe the race issue is obscured in the UK due to the fact that their poor whites are so awful.
New York descends into a Dickensian dystopia.
Steve, have you forgotten? It’s Slavery Remembrance Day !
https://www.unesco.org/en/days/slave-trade-remembrance-day
And we all know how Haiti has thrived in the following 200 years.
Naturally, hustlers gonna hustle.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/aug/23/uk-public-holiday-remember-slave-trade
Apparently the transatlantic slave trade is all that counts, not the Indian Ocean/Mediterranean/Barbary/Red Sea trade (wrong guys doing the enslaving, wrong colour victims), or the fact that in the Domesday Book, nearly every village has its complement of slaves.
https://opendomesday.org/
So many potentially confounding variables. Verbal “assault and harassment” might be the w/m m.o. More likely though, as we see with other groups the threshold for what constitutes harassment from white males may be dramatically lower than for other perpetrators.
From the BLM/Antifa playbook, white males breathing is worse than violent crime committed by POCs.
And yes, most emphatically: as you observe, the article is using mass-media propaganda as its source material—as though it were an accurate and comprehensive representation of objective reality. We know better, to say the least.
The summer of 2020 was instructive for a lot of people, whether they articulate the reasons or not. In city after city, it was made clear that political leaders were not going to make too much of an effort to reign in widespread lawlessness if they were on the same team as the people justifying the righteousness of burning and looting. Realizing the next time this happens the cavalry is not coming to your rescue – and there will most certainly be a next time – only a fool would leave themselves in a situation in which they are at the mercy of police who may or may not come and/or roving squads of the supposedly oppressed who want your stuff.
All good questions. I also don’t like that they gin up constant racial animus through the media. When the “media” and “joggers” are working in concert together, it never ends well for heritage Americans.
1911 man?
You people!
How many times do you have to be told ?
Being anti crime is just so racist
Has taken court action especially for concealed carry, but generally legal at the state level as long as they are permanent residents (have “Green Cards”). As I understand it, legally they’re very close to being citizens except for voting and being subject to deportation. The Saudis would have gotten into trouble because they would have had temporary visas, doing training to take back home.
Never seen that name except for Vietnamese. As far as I know, don’t pay much attention, black women have been noted as one of the largest current group of first-time gun purchases, I’d assume fallout from the BLM summer of love making their situations even more dangerous. Compared to Asians you’d expect this, probably around the same percentage of the population, but I’d expect blacks are a lot more likely to be located in states with Shall Issue or Constitutional Carry (no permit required).
The cases of Asians being attacked and killed we tend to hear about are in California which is May Issue and generally No Issue except for some connected people on the coast and only 1-3 permits any given year for San Francisco, and New York City where mere gun ownership is extremely restricted. In theory Bruen will fix both these situations, but for now these states are going for Massive Resistance including making existing carry permits all but useless (New York law passed, signed, and already contested in the court system, not sure of the California status). Those to the north in Oregon and Washington state aren’t as restricted, but the gun grabbers are working on that.
You could even mention the increase in violence against blacks… by other blacks. Crime victims are the Whom and a small set of vicious thugs that liberals won’t lock up are the Who.
Having Asian rednecks arm themselves is great. They may even get away with executing some criminals who would otherwise be realeased back into the wild.
I’m not a Guardian reader, but that’s my conclusion.
“Blacks are of course never mentioned in this article.”
No surprises here. Post-Ferguson, blacks have become elevated from the status of the Establishment Left’s favorite pet (so long as they stayed outside the house of course) to that of a “protected group”. They’re still not allowed in the house but…never mind.
This Jewish stuff is not funny (actually, it’s boring).
I’ll show you what’s funny (although it deals only with one dead Jew, one dead German & one dead Englishman)….

Spinoza ( 1634-77) is the noblest and most lovable of the great philosophers. Intellectually, some others have surpassed him, but ethically he is supreme. As a natural consequence, he was considered, during his lifetime and for a century after his death, a man of appalling wickedness.
He was born a Jew, but the Jews excommunicated him. Christians abhorred him equally; although his whole philosophy is dominated by the idea of God, the orthodox accused him of atheism. Leibniz, who owed much to him, concealed his debt, and carefully abstained from saying a word in his praise; he even went so far as to lie about the extent of his personal acquaintance with the heretic Jew.
The life of Spinoza was very simple. His family had come to Holland from Spain, or perhaps Portugal, to escape the Inquisition. He himself was educated in Jewish learning, but found it impossible to remain orthodox. He was offered 1000 florins a year to conceal his doubts; when he refused, an attempt was made to assassinate him; when this failed, he was cursed with all the curses in Deuteronomy and with the curse that Elisha pronounced on the children who, in consequence, were torn to pieces by the she-bears. But no she-bears attacked Spinoza. He lived quietly, first at Amsterdam and then at the Hague, making his living by polishing lenses. His wants were few and simple, and he showed throughout his life a rare indifference to money. The few who knew him loved him, even if they disapproved of his principles.
……………………………………………………………………………………..
LEIBNIZ ( 1646-1716) was one of the supreme intellects of all time, but as a human being he was not admirable. He had, it is true, the virtues that one would wish to find mentioned in a testimonial to a prospective employee: he was industrious, frugal, temperate, and financially honest. But he was wholly destitute of those higher philosophic virtues that are so notable in Spinoza. His best thought was not such as would win him popularity, and he left his records of it unpublished in his desk. …..
………………….
Leibniz was somewhat mean about money. When any young lady at the court of Hanover married, he used to give her what he called a “wedding present,” consisting of useful maxims, ending up with the advice not to give up washing now that she had secured a husband. History does not record whether the brides were grateful.
……………………………………………………………….
He was not idle, however, either at this time or at any other during his long life. He had a controversy with Bishop Bramhall on free will; he was himself a rigid determinist. Over-estimating his own capacities as a geometer, he imagined that he had discovered how to square the circle; on this subject he very foolishly embarked on a controversy with Wallis, the professor of geometry at Oxford. Naturally the professor succeeded in making him look silly.
At the Restoration, Hobbes was taken up by the less earnest of the king’s friends, and by the king himself, who not only had Hobbes’s portrait on his walls, but awarded him a pension of £100 a year–which, however, His Majesty forgot to pay. The Lord Chancellor Clarendon was shocked by the favour shown to a man suspected of atheism, and so was Parliament. After the Plague and the Great Fire, when people’s superstitious fears were aroused, the House of Commons appointed a committee to inquire into atheistical writings, specially mentioning those of Hobbes. From this
time onwards, he could not obtain leave in England to print anything on controversial subjects.
Even his history of the Long Parliament, which he called Behemoth, though it set forth the most orthodox doctrine, had to be printed abroad ( 1668). The collected edition of his works in 1688 appeared in Amsterdam. In his old age, his reputation abroad was much greater than in England.
To occupy his leisure, he wrote, at eighty-four, an autobiography in Latin verse, and published, at eighty-seven, a translation of Homer. I cannot discover that he wrote any large books after the age of eighty-seven.
They’re masters at self-preservation and promotion while acting as masterful courtiers in flattering the regnant powers that be.
The Asians interviewed cited “January 6” and BLM – not blacks running riot but rather “cops shooting people” – as two reasons that they’ve purchased firearms for personal protection.
They just know that it’s encouraged to punch whitey but never, ever, ever to point out the black man who is punching you in the face (in these cases, literally). They’ve gotten the “beneath agency, above criticism” memo and caught on quickly, haven’t they?
I’ve heard such; not going to hear it in the press.
Ah, the eternal caliber argument. Terminal performance as evidence we can get our hands on tells us about half the perps shot one time will stop their aggression, we think a lot of that is from pain making them reconsider their life choices.
For those who have to be stopped, there’s two mechanisms, a central nervous system hit and losing enough blood which can take a long time in a conflict. The former is aligned with my strong preference for ergonomics, for the gun model you can shoot best and are mostly like to carry. For the latter, the rule of thumb for normal self-defense handgun calibers is stopping power scales with projectile width including expansion, lethality scales with the number of holes you put in someone, including both sides if that happens (this generally ended the gun-grabber jihad against hollow point bullets).
All things being equal, the bigger the starting diameter the larger the projectile after it expands, and expansion can be defeated like with heavy winter clothes. Velocity/energy only helps to the extent it ensures adequate penetration, see the post-Miami shootout FBI criteria of 16 inches I think it is if you have to shoot through someone’s arm to reach their vitals. Beyond that and enough for expansion it’s more likely to exit, and possibly hit someone else. Of course if you’re going by that criteria and shoot someone straight on your bullets may well exit anyway.
One other thing to consider in bullet selection is if the round is intended to satisfy all the FBI criteria including barrier penetration, this tends to work against terminal performance in humans and minimizing penetration.
OT… news from Finland, Sannagate
Ashkenazi Jews are much less ethnocentric than many other groups–above all, the Irish, as well as Greeks and Italians.
Israel as fail-safe? I wish more American Jews thought of Israel that way. About ten years ago, a writer sent me a sample and an invitation to contribute to his book-in-progress, which had a working title of something like Exit Strategy. It was to be a collection of Americans’ personal escape plans. The most popular destination was the Philippines, since numerous early contributors were White guys who had married Filipino nurses.
But I don’t plan on going to Israel, Trinidad, Germany or anywhere else (Ireland, Hungary, Russia) I have roots because my family has no interest in being uprooted, and I’m tired. Think of me like Dad Cleeland/Knowland.
OT – lesbian bed death in the Guardian problem page. I’m starting to wonder if they’re all made up.

Roving gangs of White Supremacists, no doubt.
I am reliably informed they tend to wear Hawaiian shirts.
Sure – Police all around the country got a memo: “We’re not helping Asians anymore”. Is that what Ms. Moon really thinks? The police in those places stopped protecting everyone. Actually the police have no particular duty to protect anyone. They aren’t necessarily your friends. Welcome to reality Ms. Moon. The door on the police cruiser says “To serve and protect”, but what they really serve and protect is The System.
Here in SoCal, if you were to attend a USPSA pistol match, you would find that at least half of the participants are Filipino.
“It would be refreshing to hear Asians express gratitude to Whites for allowing them to come here.”
Never gonna happen. Nobody expresses gratitude to their mule, which is all whites are to them.
Ever hear of a crowd of looters turn around to thank the owners of the stores they just looted?
“Los Angeles uprising” is a good riot, January 6 Insurrection is a bad riot. Uprisings are good. Insurrections are bad.
The Asians interviewed cited “January 6” and BLM – not blacks running riot but rather “cops shooting people” – as two reasons that they’ve purchased firearms for personal protection.
Indeed, I’m looking forward to Asian women having nightly shootouts with the cops. Good times ahead.
Asians are much more likely to know about real life ghetto blacks than Guardian readers who tend to construct their life so that they have contact mainly with clean well behaved Obama type blacks if at all. Asian immigrants are the ones with liquor stores, take out restaurants, wig shops, etc. in the ghetto and they have no illusions about what blacks are like and they are not like the ones in lab coats that are giving you medical advice in the TV drug commercials.
The idea that the police are going to protect you from being assaulted on the street was always stupid. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. The most they were ever going to do was to take a report if you were still conscious and then load you into the ambulance.
It’s like she’s willfully ignoring the obvious. That can’t be true, she’s a journalist.
To rectify the problem and better inform her she needs to go to Baltimore or any inner-city neighborhood.

Absolutely. That was very much to the point.
The police will take risks to protect citizens when they’re considered part of the community and have the trust and confidence of the people served.
Now the Press has made it clear that police are not part of the community and won’t be treated as such, and every police interaction is going to be scrutinized unfairly and false narratives will override facts. There’s tremendous risk in actively intercepting an unjust aggressor now. There’s no risk in drawing chalk around the body afterward and taking statements.
Greeks yes – they’re very insular. But I don’t get your take that Irish and Italians are more ethnocentric than Jews. There are far too many Irish for that to even be a thing.
What makes you think that the reporter writing this up (Clair Wang, Columbia J School) didn’t just pick and choose (or if necessary invent) the interviewees and quotes that fit the desired Narrative and ignore all the “incorrect” ones? What are the odds that there are zero Asians in LA who have noticed that it’s blacks and not cops who are tackling old Asian ladies? Clair is a free lancer – if she wrote some kind of alt.right iSteve piece about how Asians know who IS really beating them up and it’s not the cops, would the Guardian buy this from her in a million years? Anyway, she is probably a true believer herself or at least knows what sells. The chances that what she wrote is a fair cross section of Asian opinion or even that everyone she talked to is media savvy enough to blame white cops for everything are zero.
That distinction is inside baseball for us. For The Guardian readers, it is just Cricket with strange rules.
The Guardian is British, so I think its readers, no matter their nationality, probably know the score better than most readers of American news sources.
Flow of information is not at all constrained by national borders, or oceans, and British news sites are ungoverned by American political correctness. They have their own style of PC, of course, and Wokeness is international, but British sites still seem to have a less constrained, more forthright manner, at least when covering American issues.
“so many of the original refugees were officers in the SVA or Laotion [sic] recruits in our dirty war there [sic]”
And a few of those in the SVA were intelligence officers in league with the New Orleans Marcello Family which had substantial legal and illegal business in Saigon centering around the U.S. military presence. Together, these two disparate groups came together despite racial differences and worked harmoniously to insure the West Coast heroin market had no supply chain issues.
Asians, like the Guardian, Guardian readers, and probably most people, recognize the difference between what they believe and what they’re allowed to say.
What a worthless dog!
I meant hers.
Hopefully, the Roof Top Koreans (RTKs) will stick around to defend limp LA white men for the next two years of George Gascon’s Reign of Anarcho-Tyranny. Thanks, Gavin Newsom, for allowing Hor-heh to trash San Francisco. Thanks to Hor-heh Soros for helping install Gascon as LA DA. And the rest of America can thank us Californians for President Gavin Newsom in January 2025.
“terminal performance”
I tend not to get into the weeds of ballistics. Too many numbers and percentages make my eyes glaze. And glazed eyes usually precedes a boredom boner and then I can’t think about anything that’s not boner-related. I own a 9mm and a chunky 1911 .45 because I watched reruns of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Richard Basehart was always equipped with a 1911. The 9mm is the one to carry; the 1911 stays at home, in the special drawer. *Quite Frankly* I’d just as soon use a .357 magnum. I don’t own one but combined with a speed loader (properly practiced) the magnum is a fine weapon. Added bonus, revolvers are always reliable. But all the kool kids use clips.
You’re just clueless. Asians aren’t “concentrated on the West Coast” they’re in Texas, Illinois, Ohio and NYC. There are plenty of blacks in Southern and Northern Calidornia, and the black population of Portland is nearly equal to the Asian population (In Seattle it is slightly more than half of the Asian population).
Blacks even make songs about Asians as their favorite crime targets:
In fact most of the non-black-on-black crime narrative of black street gangs has been black-on-Asian crime. In every hood movie it’s blacks blasting Asians. Asians have always lived in closer proximity to blacks than whites, and have always been victimized more. They are seen as softer, more valuable targets since they’re more petite and carry more money than whites.
No, femmycuck, it’s because whites have always been more rural. Somebody flunked American History 101 before they dropped out of high school.
The percentage of white Americans under age 30 living in rural areas has only decreased since the 50s. Whites are more likely to live in urban areas than ever before.
Not on a per-capita basis, numbnuts. Obviously more whites are victimized when 50-60% of the USA is white. But relative to their tiny share of the population, Asians are way, way more likely to be victimized by blacks. THEY’RE ALSO MORE LIKELY TO BE VICTIMIZED BY WHITES! Asian women are the only race of women in America who are more likely to be murdered or assaulted by a man of a different race. Guess which race? It’s White males.
Now get your stinky cavewoman feet out of Asian people’s punchbowl.
And how, exactly, in another universe, is this happening?
Asians in America will be mostly half-white Hapas in 40 years, with Anglo and Jewish surnames. I guess you could say Asian women are replacing white women. Strange conquest.
While Who and Whom is the only relevant question to our Racially Enlightened, they have to write articles where either Who or Whom is removed to avoid unpleasant results. Passive voice fills these articles, with events simply descending upon their subjects like zombie-producing miasmas.
I’ve developed the habit of going armed, even when sitting in my house. I don’t want trouble, but I recognize the risk of trouble finding me or mine.
I’ve noticed over the years how the stupid driver who causes these multiple death car crashes almost always survives. And usually with only minor injuries.
“Thus, the first version is often the closest you’re going to get to the truth.”
As a true crime junkie for more years than I care to admit, I have found this to be the case.
Ya know, the problem is that you can’t even go to the Guardian website to read the original citation without stumbling on even more prime Sailer bait.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/aug/23/annie-leibovitz-ketanji-brown-jackson-vogue-photos
The author is actually complaining how racist it is that Ketanji Jackson is on the cover of Vogue but that she doesn’t like the photos. Can’t please some people.
Some people may assume that Sailer is trolling the internet relentlessly to find some disproportionate share of absurdities to showcase. However, that’s far from the case.
If the Jews didn’t exist, we’d have to invent them
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg (black) doesn’t believe any (black) people should be incarcerated, whether they assault random strangers, fight with cops, threaten people with guns, or shoplift hundreds of dollars of merchandise. However, he was very quick to imprison former Trump CFO Allan Wesselberg in Riker’s Island for five months on tax charges, with a threat to increase that to 5 – 15 years if he doesn’t testify “truthfully” against Trump in the criminal case they’ve been trying to cobble together for years now. If New York’s judicial system had its druthers, criminals would be free to rampage on the streets while Donald Tump has Riker’s Island all to himself.
In his first day in office, Bragg put out his infamous memorandum in which he declared his opposition to the incarceration of street criminals, preferring to focus on perpetrators of financial crimes, i.e., prison for whites, not blacks.

>Never seen that name except for Vietnamese.
It was the name of the last dynasty. A lot of people adopted the surname when they took power, some willingly, some out of fear. Ho, Tran, Le: there’s a reason you see the same names pop up again and again.
阮 would be “Yuen” in Cantonese, FWIW. “Ruan” in Mandarin Chinese proper. Vietnamese is closer as a language to the former.
Very true, and very much by design.
Ridiculous. Just ridiculous idea. Be honest Mr. Speaks: You and all the other Men of Unz own all three calibers.
More likely correlation is the demographics of who has the most diverse collection of calibers and gauges:
9mm
9mm, .45
9mm, .45, .357
9mm, .45, .40, .357, 38 spl, .380, 5.56, 30-06, .22LR, .22WMR, 30-30, 12ga, 20 ga….
Maybe “Prof” Kehinde Andrews could commemorate slavery by doing one honest day’s work each year.
The Guardian used to have a lively comment section, where people would call BS on stories like this, but it was predictably removed.
Yes, somewhat valid with the usual “gun talk” crew here.
But for personal self protection in public spaces (car, walking, etc.) there are many other important factors.
Often not mentioned (by our macho iSteve gun crew) is aim, weight, stability and accuracy. Especially in (never recommenced) one-handed firing scenarios when you grab a pistol quickly to fire.
Only fairly strong adult males (or those with similar physical abilities) can fire a heavy caliber pistol one handed and hit anything over about 7 yards. Doing so with a semi auto often leads quickly to a jam in reloading. That has saved countless victim’s lives. How many can pull a semi auto from concealed carry (if you can even conceal that) and assume a Weaver stance immediately?
Heavy large caliber pistols are nearly impossible to conceal and carry without a holster.
So for ‘instant concealed carry defense” what to do? Not some 1911 .45 auto.
I’m still debating that. I’m leaning towards a 3 inch .357 mag revolver. Sure, not very accurate at distance, some kick, hammer pull reloading. But rarely will jam and loud. Should stop a carjacker.
I’ve seen YouTube presentations showing same penetration as 9 mm.
Not really here to debate this, but in my view, too much firepower isn’t what you need to save your life in a quick, dangerous situation.
Gratitude is not required. Loyalty is what’s required. Simple “I’m on your team” loyalty.
What has tanked America is we’ve allowed Jewish majority contempt/hostility–which works fine for Jewish in-group cohesion–to flourish as first a respectable and finally as the dominant ideology.
A nation can only be a nation–much less high functioning republic–when its core people, history, narrative, values, mores … culture are normative and people are loyal to that nation.
My take on Asians–and obviously I know a bunch–is the obvious:
They’ll integrate in just fine with the white core, if
a) that’s the expectation
b) more of them stop coming.
But ending minoritarianism and stopping the immigration insanity … those are huge projects. The projects required for us to survive.
>Asians though urban are heavily concentrated in California and the Pacific Rim, which are not very black.
It depends on the ethnicity we’re talking about, to some degree, but West Coast settlement isn’t so all-predominant that it would make this true. Outside of the West Coast, the other big Vietnamese cluster is in Texas (especially Houston) and Louisiana, which obviously has different demographics. The Chinese have a huge cluster in NYC, which has featured in the news for this topic lately.
Also, the Hispanicizing of previously majority black neighborhoods in places like LA is a 21st Century thing. When the 1992 riots occurred, that was still in the future.
> And Asians tend to put themselves in Asian–where thick–or upper middle class white neighborhoods.
This is socioeconomic. FOBs that had little cash and nowhere else to go wound up in the Flushings and Little Saigons and K-Towns of the world, depending on the decade. Not that different from the function Little Italys served around 1900, or the various segregated settlements in colonial-era Singapore for different groups of ethnic Chinese. You gravitate to where an obvious support network can be tapped into, especially if crime is an issue. English speaking second-generation kids who happen to make it to UMC status (and by this point often marry outside their ethnic group, whether to whites or to different Asians) are the ones that strike out for affluent suburbs.
FOBs that have plenty of cash and plenty of English need not bother with this. They go buy up a house in a good school district. Sometimes they’ll just plop their kid there and not even come. Citizenship-as-pure-financial-investment-no-emotion personified.
>But ending minoritarianism and stopping the immigration insanity … those are huge projects. The projects required for us to survive.
I wouldn’t call this a sign of hope, exactly, because it’s a lot easier to destroy than build, but I do think it is telling that they think that the only way their project can work is by keeping the floodgates open.
Grantchester fan?
Wasn’t hard. Until Afghanistan overtook it, the Golden Triangle was the gold mine for dope pushers. The functionality issues of the conscript-driven Army by the early 1970s were a huge part of why we switched to the professional soldier model in the 1980s and 1990s, for better or for worse.
It’s also worth noting that heroin addiction was a problem in the RVN itself during the final years of the war. It was symptomatic of the wider societal breakdown of the time. Homicides were also a huge problem with all the abandoned weapons everywhere, part of why Vietnam has strict gun control laws to this day.
This actually wasn’t the first time one of our erstwhile allies in the region was involved in heroin dealing: the KMT soldiers that ended up in Burma in the 1950s and 1960s used it to raise funds for the Taiwanese government. Most of them eventually returned to Taiwan, but some of them stayed on in Thailand, where the Thai government appreciated their counterinsurgency expertise and were willing to cut a deal with them: we ignore your past, you help us deal with our problems. You can still see the Chinese style village populated by their descendants today.

Bullshit. We treat Asians just fine out here in MAGAland. Los Angeles isn’t the US. It’s just a Dem cesspool on the Pacific coast. You can’t project it on the rest of us.
Yes, Cassius Clay’s grammatically challenged assertion that “Ain’t no Viet Cong ever called me n****r” has aged like milk. Back then, there weren’t that many Asians here. Once they did invade, as you mentioned, they got a crash course in negro 101, and, in private at least, they now all call them n****rs, or the equivalent.
To paraphrase that diminutive Jewish musical genius/B-List actress killer Phil Spector, to know, know, know them is not to love, love, love them.
Gotta hand it to Sanna Marin — she knows that having ugly overweight friends makes a girl look hotter.
You have it backwards. If “anti-Semitism” didn’t exist, Jews would have to invent it.

A lot of people read The Guardian just for the excellent reporting on sports such as soccer, cricket, golf, and tennis.
Mostly the sports reporting is non-partisan, although recently the Guardian has lost its head a bit over the success of the English women’s soccer team in winning the European championship for women and has started to do a lot of reporting on women’s soccer and cricket, which nobody is really interested in other than the families of the participants, except when a British team beat some foreigners and gives people something to cheer about.
The Guardian still has reader commenting, but it has always been heavily censored. In cases where they know that 90% of readers will comment unfavorably to the author, the articles are closed to comments from the get go. Articles are often open to comments only for a couple of hours, and then are closed when the censors go home.
Wrong. Blacks attack Whites more frequently than they attack Asians. Black violence against Whites is so commonplace it doesn’t make the news. When a black attacks an Asian it is a national story. Truly man bites dog.
At the WSJ, editorials normally always permit comment (and more broadly than usual, ie, they can be slightly OT to bring in relevant material the editorialist missed), but any good, important, or egregiously dishonest story (“Christopher Wray didn’t want the FBI to be political”) is guaranteed to not allow any response.
In fact, the simplest explanation of “anti-Semitism” is Jews maintaining their identity.
The Vietnamese word for African is nguòui châu Phi, so it’s damned good luck that no Vietnamese ever made the attempt and got one syllable in.
I’m with Massad Ayoob that the isosceles grip is good. He claims the best for when you’re facing forwards, your two arms pushing against each other under stress tend to keep you on target. He claims the complicated forward Weaver stance falls apart for most people under stress. See the detailed discussion in his first Stressfire book.
Hello? Who’s advocating carrying a gun without a holster?!???!!!
And while I indeed carry a .45 ACP M1911, John Moses Browning (PBUH), that starts from the ergonomics for me in what I can best shoot, and everything else follows from that. Four inch barrel with a full length aluminum frame and it’s reliable and not too heavy for hip carry, single stack magazine narrowness makes it nicely concealable. Was also a better option when I bought mine during the “assault weapons” ban, if you’re limited to ten rounds in the magazine best you make each one count. Although that’s eight rounds for me with Wilson 47D magazines.
Firing one handed is for when you can only use one hand, for which you of course must practice, as well as one handed magazine changes if you get injured (hold the gun after the magazine has been released between your legs to insert the new one; don’t sweat this because it’s unlikely to come up, but do practice it a bit so you’ll know what to do). I’ve read that you indeed need to be X strong to make a given semi-auto reliable holding it with one or two hands, fortunately that’s not a problem for me (yet; I am getting old).
CCP pundit Sima Nan, who makes a living on anti-US anti-Japan talking points, was recently revealed to owning real estate in US,

Looks like white nationalists now have to contend with another tragedy… Not being the most precious snowflake in the room. Seems like they get handed a new disaster every other month nowadays.
He doth look colorful:
On 20 January 2012, Sima boarded a plane to Washington, DC, United States. At some point after arriving at Dulles International Airport, Sima leaned over the handrail of an escalator and got his head stuck between the rail and an approaching section of wall. He was rushed to hospital and received prompt treatment. The fact that a pundit who made a career out of bashing the United States quietly traveled there on the eve of Chinese New Year invited suspicions of hypocrisy and a deluge of ridicule on Chinese social networking sites. It was rumored Sima was in the U.S. to visit his wife and child living there, to which Sima did not deny, but emphasized privacy.
This is horsecrap. Christians did not “abhor him equally.” Jews tried repeatedly to kill him; we did no such thing. He was allowed to live unmolested in our society, something the rabbis do not grant us in locations they control. As usual, White societies and countries are where anyone goes when they burn down their own house. It would have been better for us to refuse this guy and kick his “community” out of Amsterdam and back to the middle east, that font of backwardness that has plagued humanity from the very beginning.
The data are not conclusive, but I come down on the side of the #endasianhate being, more or less, a hoax, a media creation. That opinion of mine is based on the FBI data:
https://www.unz.com/isteve/fbi-murders-up-4901-black-share-of-known-murder-offenders-reaches-record-56-5/#comment-4927061
https://www.unz.com/isteve/fbi-murders-up-4901-black-share-of-known-murder-offenders-reaches-record-56-5/#comment-4927092
Now, that data are not conclusive in that, it is, of course, possible that black-on-Asian violence increased while Asian-on-Asian and white-on-Asian violence declined, but I don’t think that’s likely. What’s clear is that, while violent crime victimization increased across all groups, Asians experienced the smallest growth from 2019 to 2020.
That said, black-on-Asian violence was quite prevalent long before Covid or Ferguson. For example, for much of the last decade, about 40% of assaults in San Francisco was black-on-Asian.
To me, though, trying to figure out whether white, Hispanic, or Asians are victimized the most by black crime is a bit silly. What it comes down to is that whoever live in close proximity with blacks are the most likely to be victimized by black crime – that’s why blacks are the most victimized by black crime, precisely because they live in the closest proximity to other black people.
As for gun culture among Asians, reliable data are nonexistent (surveys on Asians are usually collected by leftist activist groups and are wildly off due to selection bias). I will say this, anecdotally: I’ve spent a lot of time at the NRA HQ range. If you spend enough time there, you get to see which Asian groups are into guns and which aren’t. Filipinos, Koreans, and Vietnamese show up in much higher frequencies there than Chinese and Indians do (even though Indians are the largest group in the locality). Unsurprisingly, the former three display the highest rates of assimilation in this country while the latter two have the lowest assimilation indices among Asians in the U.S. per the long-running Manhattan Institute study on immigrant assimilation.
The statistics you post are not only consistent with the proposition that blacks attack Whites more than they attack asians, they support it!
Whites are harassed, assaulted, and battered by blacks every day in the United States. They just don’t complain about it that much. And, as pointed out earlier, when they do, it rarely makes the news as such. Many of the kind of black assaults on Asians that have made the news in the past couple of years are run-of-the-mill (if terrifying and often painful) experiences that Whites suffer on the daily at the hands of blacks.
A lot of Whites now have to fear even reporting black-on-White crime because of the threat they could be tarred as racist. Asians don’t run that same risk. That also skews the numbers.
Black on White crime is also significantly higher than White on black crime.
What is the Asian share of the non-black population in San Francisco?
Asians are about 33% of San Francisco and about 35% of the nonblack population.
Note the 40% figure above is of total assaults. Black-on-Asian assaults are more than 40% of black-on-nonblack assaults, obviously.
Hint: “concentrated” != “all”.
BTW, rather than clueless, I’m at least at the 99%tile in demographic knowledge of the United States (for that matter the world). I’m something of a demography geek.
For the record the top three states in Asian American % are Hawaii, California and Washington. And those are states with lower than average percentages of blacks. And California alone accounts for 30% of all Asians. After Nevada, the NYC metro states–Jersey and NY–are next in Asian%. There are plenty of Asians in Illinois and Texas but those states actually have slightly smaller Asian% than the nation as a whole. (Ohio is much lower and while I happen to know a bunch of Asians there, it is not particularly Asian at all.) That’s what the concept of “concentrated” gets at. Asians are everywhere in the US, but they are not randomly distributed everywhere but have a strong concentration on the West Coast. (30% of US Asians are in California alone.)
And my point was that the Asian distribution is both concentrated and very different from that of blacks:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Asian_Americans
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Americans#Demographics
But–as I noted–what Asians do have going for (i.e. against) them in terms of being victims of black crime is being urban. Because, outside of the South, blacks are an urban population as well. But Asians also have higher than average incomes and usually prefer their own or simply UMC neighborhoods–which are not black heavy. How all those factors–two pushing one way, one pushing the other–play out is not obvious and requires actual crime perpetrator/victim data to sort out.
Realistically speaking though, newcomers will tend to side with what appears to be the winning team… unless, of course, the winning team appears to be totally deranged. If the dissidents as such were interested in winning over allies among the newcomers, the strategy should be to encourage the winning team to behave in an increasingly erratic, despotic, and oppressive manner, so as to be very unpalatable to the newcomers.
Agreed, but who today controls the ideas on who the “core people” are in this country let alone “history, narrative, values, mores…”?
I think this depends on what you mean by “Asians.” Historically, Filipinos, Vietnamese, and Koreans have displayed high rates of assimilation while Chinese and Indians have shown lower rates, clustering more with Hispanic immigrants (except Cubans who cluster with the former three).
Indian immigrants, in particular, have the highest median income, the highest educational attainment all the while displaying low rates of assimilation, intermarriage, and military service, not to forget having a highly divergent religion. This is the classic alien overlord group in the making – they are liable to be brown Jews.
And now, Indians are the largest group of “Asians” in this country, having just surpassed the Chinese (I expected that to occur in 5 years or so, but even I underestimated how quickly this group would grow in such a short time frame). Just as the entertainment, media, and financial service industries were the vehicles through which Jews came to dominate the elite strata of this country, the tech industry is serving the same for Indians, with the connivance of the technocratic elite who shortsightedly see (temporary) profit in this importation.

I’ve lived in a predominantly Irish neighborhood for just short of 25 years. In almost every family, both parents are Irish. The overwhelming majority of them have been here for four-five generations. (I’ve known some beautiful Irish immigrants, too. Unfortunately, the nicest couple of them all betrayed me, by dying on me.)
Once when I was waiting with the other parents, babysitters, etc., for my kid to come out of elementary school, I once saw a young Irish boy who looked just like one of my boy’s classmates, so I asked him if he was his brother. Nope; not related. I had similar experiences all the time, but stopped asking, lest people think I was a perv.
Meanwhile, Jewish intermarriage is around 50%.
Apples and oranges, to be sure, one Irish neighborhood vs. Jews nationally.
Cf. to Crown Heights or Lakewood.
After German, “Irish” is the second largest ethnic group in the U.S. (“Irish” likely combines both Scots-Irish/Ulster Scots and Irish Catholics). I assume your perception regards Catholic Irish descended from post-famine immigrants to the U.S.
The U.S. has never been in a World War with the Republic of Ireland (unlike the Germans), and the Irish are generally viewed to be the most genial and approachable ethnic group in the period post 1920s mass immigration period. There are simply enough Irish that the odds of Irish descended people winding up together – particularly in areas where they are abundant like in the U.S. Northeast – is very high.
What I find interesting about Asians in America is that the one State in which they are a plurality seems to defy the expectations of Asian achievement. I would like to see some kind of breakdown of Hawaii’s demographics versus levels of academic and economic achievement.
We may have the secret sauce to make Asians into easy-going, chill bros who don’t out-grind everyone and hog up all of the good opportunities after all.
Family Guy is pretty funny. They somehow get away with being outré.
“These people are smart! How can they not get it?”
Of course they get it. They also understand that there’s social value for them in pretending that Lady Godiva isn’t nude.
This non-story has been doing the rounds on the internet. Apparently some black activists have claimed that the renowned photographer does not know how to photograph black people properly, which is racis’.
This is totally silly, because the photographer is known for making portrait photographs that are rather dark and gloomy, which is what people are claiming to be offended about.
Speaking as a semi-professional photographer myself, I would say that the reason that this is silly is that in the era of digital cameras and digital photography ALL photographs are post-processed and manipulated to the taste of the photographer using programs usually known to the public as Photoshop, but actually comprising a number of applications.
It is a simple process to expose an image a bit more, underexpose it, tweak the individual colors, hue, and chroma, sharpen or blur, reduce or increase the intensity of shadows, and so on.
Even my own landscapes have a characteristic appearance due to my own tastes and feelings about how I want to pictures to look and what I think users of the images want. (Often what I like and what users like is quite different and one might look for different qualities in a photo for a header for a blog article then for something to enlarge and put on the wall in a courthouse or public building.)
So the photographer just liked the look and composition of a picture in a particular way that probably expresses his or her sense of aesthetics. That is all there is to it.
One feature of the modern age is that there are armies of people everywhere waiting to be offended so that they can get on Twitter and be offended in public.
In my opinion Leibovitz often tries to make her photographs resemble Old Masters, perhaps ones that have a few centuries of dirt on them and need a bit of a clean up.
Have you ever tried reading Spinoza?
That is remarkably low considering that Jews are both fully integrated into US society and number as a very small percentage of US society.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FaS_HVCVEAE3cq0?format=jpg&name=medium
It’s not just a question of post processing but of lighting, positioning, whether flash is used, etc.
In this photo, Leibovitz was clearly going for moody and dark. Maybe symbolically, Jackson stands in Lincoln’s shadow or justice for Blacks is not fully illuminated, blah, blah, blah. She is clearly going for an effect. The idea that a renowned professional photographer like Leibovitz simply doesn’t know how to photograph blacks is beyond stupid.
Except that it’s not that stupid if you understand where this is going. The next step in this checkers game is to say “only a Black photographer is capable of photographing Black people.” That’s what this is really about.
It’s also laughable that Vogue, which is supposedly a fashion magazine, gives a lavish spread to Brown who is many things but not a fashion model (but still this is not enough for Blacks). Meanwhile, Melania, who WAS a fashion model, was kept completely out of the pages of Vogue for Trump’s entire term. So fashion magazine Vogue likes to photograph political figures, but only if they are Democrats.
No, this is remarkably high, having in mind that people’s lives are still colored by religious culture (even when they’re not religious).
And I guess the percentage is higher: https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/05/11/marriage-families-and-children/
Anyway, if someone is getting married, it’s OK….. just avoid “open marriage” & similar games..

The Guardian, Economist and Daily Mail are unusual for British newspapers in that most viewers of their websites are outside of Britain. (I believe the Economist also sells more print copies outside Britain.)
Everything I know about baseball I learned from Bad News Bears. So I guess baseball is not really the War of 1812’s Liberty Cricket?
Recent examples are the woman who ran a red light in LA going 120 mph and killed six people. And the pro football player driving 156 mph causing a woman and her dog to be burned to death after hitting her car.
Both with minor injuries of course.

Fairly recent these cases.
“Asian” is a vast universe and Hawaii is a very non-representative sample.
“Asians ” can do:
and also:
This is a Northeastern phenomenon, especially in and around Boston. I am Irish/Polish/French Canadian, in that order. So was my Dad, except not in the same order; my Mom is Full Blooded Irish, and the daughter of an Irish immigrant father. My parochial elementary school in Davenport IA was full of Irish-German kids. My cousins, who all grew up in or near Chicago, are Irish-German, Irish-Italian, etc.
I was thinking that Mr. Nguyen’s group was going around shooting LA Progressives.
My mistake.
You’re being pedantic. Hawaii is plurality Asian (probably majority if you count Hapas) and these are overwhelmingly Japanese, Chinese, Korean, with some Filipinos – they’re East Asians, largely what Asians themselves call “fancy Asians.” There aren’t many New Guinean Negritos, if any.
My very point, however, is that Asians in Hawaii are non-representative of other East Asian populations, even and especially East Asians in the rest of the U.S. Why do they behave more “American” and less Asian than Asians in California or New York? Why have they adapted temperamentally to the Island lifestyle of Hawaii but not the laid back vibes of sunny Southern California? How can we corrupt Asian Tiger Cubs and make them laid back if not downright lazy?
Hawaii’s Asian population consists mainly of:
198,000 (14.6%) Filipino Americans,
185,000 (13.6%) Japanese Americans,
roughly 55,000 (4.0%) Chinese Americans,
and 24,000 (1.8%) Korean Americans
Mostly descended from people who came many generations back to labor. Not the kind that has to make difficult choices like whether to go to Caltech or MIT or Stanford (or accept a CEO position at Google or IBM or Microsoft). And those populations wouldn’t be even a small city in Asia.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii#Population
Yup, Hawaii Asians mostly descend from peasants and laborers from the PI and Japan of the early 20th Century brought to work the plantations.
It should be noted, as well, that while Filipinos are the Asian sub-group with the highest assimilation index, they are also the only major Asian sub-group among whom the American-born have lower educational attainment than the foreign-born.
“Rouninki” is our oldest slang word for pistol, sometimes used for automatic guns in general. As old as the design itself.
But when was the last time we had a 100+ years old designs as the only common option for a sidearm? 12th century? This even when we’ve had major progress in manufacturing techniques. Guns are a big and heavily regulated industry, and thus very boring. Just like cars.
Any engineering student can come up with a design that is vastly superior in every way. But California and the EU would ban it ad hoc, so why bother?
What you say is true, but my point is that with digital post-processing, even if the photos did come out too dark by mistake, that could easily be remedied if that was the intention of the photographer.
As you say, the photographs were the intention of the photographer, not the result of incompetence.
Although it is probably true that one could go from these allegations of incompetence to claiming that black photographers must be used to photograph black people, a more immediate issue is that people know that The Guardian will pay for this kind of nonsense, and that there is money to be made out of perpetually pretending to be offended and writing clickbait.
Are you proposing that we have Asian-Americans labor in the Pineapple fields for a few generations to make them more assimilable?
There are plenty of first and second generation Asians in Hawaii, so it’s just not true that they’re all descended from manual laborers. There are several Japanese restaurants in Kona with menus in Japanese and no English-speaking staff.
Jack, this is all true as far as it goes but you have the paradigm upside down. Vogue isn’t a fashion magazine that is biased in favor of Democrats, rather the people who run Vogue and NBC, and CNN and the New York Times and Harvard University and Miramax and the Southern Poverty Law Center and the American Federation of Teachers and so on ad infinitum are the Democratic Party. The people we see as “officially Democratic” – the elected members of legislatures or appointed members of Courts and so forth are simply the government arm of the Democratic party.
Once you realize that Vogue isn’t a fashion magazine but is a left/Democratic Party organ with the form of a fashion magazine you’ll understand why Brown Jackson who is objectively and charitably speaking rather homely in appearance gets this treatment – like Michelle Obama, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, and many more before – while someone like Melania Trump, or even the much more comely Amy Coney Barrett would never be asked and should decline if asked because the effort would be to make them appear less attractive and glamorous than they are. Here, Vogue’s purpose is to glamorize leftists and raise their profile as characters in political drama rather than to present fashion and glamour on its own terms – they want a cult of “KBJ” to replicate and replace the cult of “RBG.” Expect “KBJ” dissents to be made into a cultural meme for wine aunts and cat ladies like RBG dissents were before the latter succumbed to being old and shot through with cancer. Remember the “RBG workout?” It’ll be even more ridiculous in some way.
Well, print models still exist so there must be limits to how much can be done after the pictures are taken. I suppose the photographer could stretch out and thin her legs and torso, and do all manner of other things to her face but at a certain point the pictures wouldn’t correspond to the reality of a prominent public figure. Years ago there was a glamour shot of Debbie Wasserman Schultz that was so worked up that people thought that the pictures accompanying the article were there in error.
The expectation of the complainants makes the point of the piece obvious – she was supposed to be made glamorous and attractive, but there are limits to what you can do when the raw material just isn’t there.
As long as the last name is Stewart. He’ll go after all the Stewart fraudsters he can find.
There’s been a big in-migration of Filipinos to HI since the 1970s.
I am just pointing out that the Asians in Hawaii are likely to be from the left quarter of The Bell Curve. The STEM people in mainland are from the right quarter of The Bell Curve. So, they are not comparable – just like the two “Asian” videos.
One of the best criticisms of the cuckservative moment is that they never published run a right of Mao women’s magazine.
The best, which is related, is that “they can’t even conserve little girl’s rooms.”
See also Robert Conquest’s 2nd Law of Politics: “Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.”
A photograph is a photograph, and there are limits to what you can do to it. But in digital photography there is a lot that you can do to change lighting, shadows, and hues and colors after the fact.
I did not get the impression that the criticisms wanted to make the judge look like a glamorous grannie. I think they just felt that they didn’t bring out her true character, whatever that is, and that they didn’t make her impressive or imposing enough, or judicial enough.
That was a characteristic of the Japanese colonial project. When the Japanese had colonized Manchuria, it could not even fill it with Japanese settlers, who in any event preferred to migrate to Hawaii or North America or even Peru Brazil, rather than taking up the Yellow Man’s burden in Manchuria.
So the Japanese ended up recruiting and taking in Han Chinese / Taiwanese migrants to come to Manchuria (who are arguably also colonizers since Qing had previously banned Han emigration north of the Great Wall).

The zeitgeist has changed significantly since Covid, Jan 6th etc. as the former faction has become more arrogant. While the latter faction has lost significant credibility, so is resorting to dig up as much dirty laundry about the CCP as possible, which is as always easy to do to, but that doesn’t introduce many ideas for problems in the West or China.
In any case both factions tend to hold residence status in AUKUS and Japan.
I think the Asians have a lot of small businesses such as restaurants and nail salons, where there is likely to be cash on the premises, and maybe inclined to buy guns for self protection for their businesses rather than their homes.
Asians who are doctors or lawyers, are probably less likely to be buy guns, because they may not be able to take them into their workplaces such as hospitals or courthouses, which have their own security systems.
Presumably people of all ethnicities who work in businesses like construction that are likely to have expensive tools and equipment that are vulnerable to being stolen, are more likely to carry guns.
I wonder how many professional golfers carry a gun in the bag.
