From the New York Times:

Below is a list of 39 known instances just this year when someone called the police to complain about black people doing everyday activities:

Thirtynine false positives in a country of merely 327 million!

How many false negatives have there been this year when a white woman was violently victimized because she didn’t call 911? Hmmhmmhmmhh … I’m not aware of such a concept. Frankly, the very idea of a Type II error sounds racist. Anyway, what’s a few dead Beckys compared to winning the midterm elections?

This media campaign is going to help the Democrats win the midterms, right? Right? The press is carrying out this broad effort to racially vilify white women as part of a Machiavellian masterplan based on scientific research to propel Democratic candidates upward and onward, isn’t it? I mean, I haven’t heard the details of the careful calculations and behind-the-scences planning that went into this coordinated push, but it must have taken place, right? The media isn’t just hating on white women because it feels good, man. I mean, that would be just plain stupid to let feelings of racist resentment alienate the crucial white women swing bloc of voters at the last moment, right?

No one is saying all Black People are innocent or perfect. They just want as much of the assumption of innocence in their daily lives as we receive. Instead theyget the assumption of guilt. Please remember that most serial killers are white men , but no one is grabbing up all the single white men who live with their mom for suspicion of murder.

I’m a middle aged .white guy for what ever that’s worth. What scares me is not People of Color. but these guys (usually guys) that have a confederate battle flag and an nra sticker in the back window of their car….they are the most likely to kill somebody over a perceived slight.

This is why we NEED demographic change. Only when white “men” stripped of institutional power will we be able to create a country worth living in.

There’s another option – these people think that the deplorables that they call out with the slurs and such are just an evil few, not just those 37, but, again, they are completely innumerate.

Of course, they do know that Donald Trump won the election with 60-odd million deplora-merican votes. That’s gotta be, like, a lot, I guess. On 2nd thought, maybe it is just, as you say, that it feels good, man!

Tweeters just in general should cool down and wait about 15 minutes before they head down to Western Union to wire off those tweets. They used to tell us to hold of a day on any nasty emails, to have time to think it over.

OT One of the things that keeps the powerpoints separate is “professional journalists” chasing after Russian hackers and embracing the Muslim Brotherhood while considering every single statement from our side to be a laughable lie unless proven otherwise to a courtroom-acceptable standard.

So what if Isra’Aid travels to foreign countries because Muslims cannot be trusted to invade without supervision? So what if hundreds of ISIS terrorists have been arrested in the area, many recently? No one should feel “less than.”

    From the same journalist:

In the Civil Service older hands asked for advice (informally of course) advised one to go ahead and write the letter one wanted to write, and file it in the top drawer of the desk (the “leather” skiver-topped Utility things had a slide out writing/blotting shelf just above the file drawers, and that was a good spot). Then one was to compose “a proper letter”, with all the venom and passion drained, to the point of anaemia, and send that.

  12. There are a certain number of busybodies who call the authorities at the drop of a hat. For example, one of my neighbors was upset that my car was in his usual spot, and the car was slightly too close to his driveway, so he called the city parking enforcement. Seriously. Couldn’t go to my door to ask. Fortunately, I got to the car when the parking enforcement came, and the guy was happy to let me move instead of him writing a ticket.

Some of the busybodies who call the cops are white. Since whites are a majority of people in this country, I would assume that MOST are white. Depends on the neighborhood. I once lived in an Italian neighborhood which had all these old ladies looking out the windows, ready to call the cops or Big Vito if anything were amiss. The neighborhood was quite safe. Criminals didn’t like cops and were terrified of Big Vito. Big Vito didn’t even have to exist, as long as the criminals THOUGHT he existed.

And, some of the busybodies are random white women with phones. And some of those women are probably racist.

    What I hate is:

    1. People tend to blow up any possible racial incident anywhere in the country as proof that all blah are blah.

    2. If someone says or does something that is racist, or might possibly be construed as racist, there winds up a legion of people ready to destroy their lives.

    Sigh.

I am a liberal, and I like to think I am not racist. When we are honest, we realize we are ALL racist to some extent. Nobody of any color is exempt.

My hypothesis is that there are certain white people who think they can purge racism out of their system, and out of the world, by destroying the lives of anyone who every crosses a line, even if the line keeps changing.

Being on the left used to be fun. At least SOME of the time. There were always the latter-day Puritans, like Tom Hayden, who weren’t fun at all. Abbie Hoffman wrote about how he and Jerry Rubin had a blast with the Yippies, but Tom Hayden was a complete wet blanket. Now the latter day Puritans seem to be taking over the left. Pity.

At least in Europe they have the topless protestors of Femen. They seem to be having more fun.

I think you are on to something.

In a different content I hypothesize that this is a puritanical desire to purge oneself of racism by finding random people whose lives can be ruined.

But, what do I know. I had an ancestor, Mrs. Nurse, who was the last woman hanged as a witch in Salem. My grandfather was falsely accused of being a communist by Joe McCarthy. Arthur Miller says that Chinese told him the Cultural Revolution was the same sort of thing, only a lot worse. I had friends whose parents were jailed or murdered in the Cultural Revolution because they were falsely accused of being “rightists”.

So, there has to be a sin that is impossible to disprove. In this case, racism.
Then, lives have to be destroyed to purge the sin.
Ideally, there has to be a way to attempt to be free of the sin. In the worst witch hunts, nobody is exempt. Remember what happened to the guy who invented the Guillotine.

Interesting comment, though regarding your paragraph near the end, I’ll just have you know that most of us lump the Hoffmans, Rubins, Haydens, the whole lot of them, into Commie agitators of the ’60′s (for $800, Alex), and call it a day. Which reminds me, I don’t agree with you that Joe McCarthy’s campaign against the Commies in US Gov’t was anything like the Salem witch trials or the Chinese Cult-Rev 1.0. Balderdash, and I’ll take Ann Coulter’s and some of my reading’s view that he was doing the right thing.

McCarthy and his HUAC were making lists of people to be investigated. There was still due process and rule of law, very much contrary to the situation in the People’s Republic (NO, not present day California!). There were lots more Type II errors than Type I with Commie infiltrators in America, even with the HUAC.

As to your story about the over-zealous neighbors you’ve had, I’ll tell you what else causes this. Feuds between neighbors often end up with the city or county being weaponized, which it loves of course, to bring on violations for this, that, and the other thing, back and forth. My friend was run ragged by the city on his fixer-upper house for years, all due to a feud with the old lady who’s thankfully dead now. He was temporarily doing jobs on the siding and windows to satisfy the city, then going back to his planned roofing stuff, then … well, it’ll never be finished, but at least he’s on his own schedule now.

You are quite right that the best move is usually to talk it over, as best as you can. For some of these “9-1-1-dialing Beckies”, there’s not always time, and with black people, you don’t know if you may just set them off.

  38. istevefan says:

I cannot find the original source link for this story anymore so maybe some of you who recall it can find it. As I recall it happened around 2009. A white woman was coming out of a store in California late at night around closing time. She had a small infant with her and noticed her car was alone in the parking lot with a strange man lurking nearby. She immediately felt unsure and did not want to go to her car. But her inner self told her she must be racist since the unknown man was black. So against her gut feeling she went to the car.

It turns out the guy was a thug, forced her to get in the car and drive to an ATM. He made her withdraw cash and then had her drive to a secluded place where he raped her while the infant was in the car.

Here is a link to the story from Lawrence Auster. But the link to which he refers is no longer valid.

In the United States in 2005, 37,460 white females were sexually assaulted or raped by a black man, while between zero and ten black females were sexually assaulted or raped by a white man.

You seem quite fond of the word racism – the word of time, I suppose. Since people seem to define it differently, what is your definition?

Here’s Webster’s definition: A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

It’s interesting that Webster feels the need to conflate two very different beliefs into one word. According Webster, I am not a racist* if I believe that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities but not that those racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.

What if I believe that race/genetics matters but it simply creates people with different capabilities, like dog breeds. Is a German Shephard “superior” to a Lab? It’s a silly question.

Regardless, you seem to imply that being a racist is bad, so I’m trying to figure out what you mean by racist and why it’s wrong.

*I believe that race is a very important determinant of human traits and capacities. I also believe that races/ethnicities/peoples are happiest living amongst themselves and being ruled by their own. (History says I’m right.) I don’t want to live around blacks or any other group, not because I believe Whites are superior (though we certainly are superior at certain things) but because I want to live among my own.

I have had success with traditional operant conditioning and fear-dread — but post-midterms, after the Republicans notch gains in both chambers, the Democrats won’t have any way of punishing or rewarding BBQ Beckys.

That all they have to do is stroll up to US Customs at a US legal port of entry, they are now obviously on US soil, and claim they have been abused, raped, assaulted by gangs in Guatemala, El Salvador, etc. That they are claiming asylum and filing for asylum. They are sent in front of the judge who gives them a court date years in the future for their asylum hearing.

Of course the claim of asylum (due to political/religious persecution) is supposed to be made at the first country encountered, having left one’s home country–according to UN protocols. Asylum applications are not for the purpose of satisfying a shopping list of a country’s social welfare benefits acceptable to the applicant.

Then suddenly the column only covered “selected incidents,” as anti-white graffiti started to appear on campuses. And then the column mysteriously disappeared entirely about a year ago when police started to “do something about it!,” but their more rigorous investigations revealed that hate incidents were mostly hoaxes, and the Times had to print too many corrections in the column. Bye-bye The Week in Hate. We hardly knew ye.

As for black people “doing everyday activities,” this is exactly the problem. “Everyday activities” for black people are not everyday for white people because of differing social norms (which if Nicholas Wade is right may be genetically mediated cultural characteristics).

So, Barbecue Becky? Lake Merritt Park had designated areas for BBQs, including areas with fixed BBQs installed, and areas for bring-your-own barbecues. Barbecuing was prohibited in other areas, mostly on the west site where the smoke wafts over to a residential area. This was posed on signs and indicated on the map boards on on the park map on the park’s website.

For blacks, they be gettin’ it real by ignoring the rules, and shoulder-chipping when challenged. Maybe the rules should be changed. So get the rules changed. White people tend to obey such rules and to go through a process to change them if necessary.

It turns out that the nice society that we live in and the solvent corporations that give people jobs are there because for the most part people obeyed rules and conventions, small and large, at all levels, over decades and decades, and this allowed progress to happen. Blacks-in-charge will bring us a slow descent into shithole America.

Refugees are supposed to apply for asylum in the FIRST safe country they get to. Those strolling up to a US border station in McAllen came through Mexico, and should have applied there (if not before). The proper response is to deny their claim on the spot and return them to their home country within 24 hours.

Trump should try this or some variation of this on let’s say an emergency basis. You are correct in what you are saying about the first safe country. Only problem is that once they hit US soil all this has to sorted out in a court of law. And as you know these would be refugees and asylees are paroled into the United States and given a future court date to adjudicate all this. 80-90% don’t show up.

I would like to deny them on the spot and turn them around, push them back into Mexico, where they can camp out and rot. If Congress were not so useless they would pass laws greatly limiting the number of asylum claims allowed each year.

Actually, if you plan to claim asylum you must enter at a border crossing and make the claim. You can’t illegally cross the border and claim asylum if/when apprehended. (The meticulousness of following this second provision appears in some doubt.)

I have read accounts of Central American women with a few children found on the US side by the Border Patrol. Then saying they want to go through the asylum process. Removing Mexicans is easy. We bus them back. All others are from non-contiguous countries, must go though a legal process before they can be put on an airplane back home, which is lots more involved and expensive than bussing Mexicans back home.

replace “race” with “genetics” in the bold part and i agree, the second part of that sentence is unnecessary. we are all superior or inferior in various metrics

I don’t want to live around blacks or any other group, not because I believe Whites are superior (though we certainly are superior at certain things) but because I want to live among my own.

i’m getting to where i don’t want to live around non-whites because i begin to understand that they aren’t my friends and never were. the ones that came here to the U.S. were mostly seeking to improve their economic fortunes and most of them will be more than happy to see the whites who built this country gone and replaced by their groups, so i feel likewise about them

Another Type I vs Type II situation is the reasoning progressive judges use to toss out anti-voter-fraud laws such as ones that, get this, require that one provide proof of residence and/or citizenship with reliable documents in order to vote, as opposed to getting bused to multiple polling places on election day and making up names.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-new-hampshire/judge-bars-new-hampshire-proof-of-residency-requirement-for-new-voters-idUSKCN1MW2Y8

This goes far beyond “rather 10 guilty men go free than punish one innocent man” reasoning. If a filter presents a risk of even one Type I error, and even when it would have been trivially easy for the individual to have avoided or defused that false alarm, then that’s still so bad that we have to get rid of that rule, even if that means all the Type II errors get through the door.

  88. J1234 says:
    @Joe, Averaged

You’re right Joe. It’s important to realize that calling the cops – and the cops responding – isn’t a “presumption of guilt.” Cops investigate and arrest, they don’t try, convict and sentence.

Below is a list of 39 known instances just this year when someone called the police to complain about black people doing everyday activities:

Wow…39 instances in just 10 months….in a country of 350 million. Again, no comparison for context. How many whites were reported for suspicious behavior or circumstances? Irrelevant! says the left.

And, is it just me, or is “4th floor Becky” not on the list? (That’s the lady who was all over the news because she wouldn’t let a black guy into his condo building.) Is the reason she’s not on the list because it was finally revealed that she was married (recently separated) to a half or quarter black guy, so the likelihood of her reaction being racist was pretty remote, yet it was widely reported as such by the MSM anyway? (And that kind of reporting implicates the MSM of presuming guilt as much anyone?) Could be.

Sure, her half black (soon to be) ex-husband kind of threw her under the bus by implication, but all of this is probably too convenient of a windfall for him pass up, given that there’s an apparent divorce trial down the road.

Note your language– “Jenny is a nickname…” (Technically, a diminutive. A nickname would be, eg, “Shorty” for Steve.)

Before 1906, nobody outside of Cornwall had ever heard of Jennifers. But there were many, many Jennys. Including a Swede, Jenny Lind.

Jenny was originally Jane. Just as Patty was originally Martha. Ask the Jeffersons.

A serial killer is anyone who kills 3 or more people in at least 3 separate incidents. Killing 5 people at the same time isn’t a serial killer.

There are more black serial killers. Thi this is how it goes. Black guy kills someone in robbery at 18. He’s in prison for about 7 years because he pleas to manslaughter. He’s out at 25. At 30 he beats girl friend’s toddler to death. Again manslaughter. He’s out again at 40 and kills someone else in some stupid parking fight or rape..

He never gets in the papers because it’s just common not glamorous crime and his victims were all black.

Unfortunately, the F.B.I. coined its own organizational definition of “serial killer,” several years ago, transforming it from a term of art for the type of perpetrator who kills multiple victims, over a period of time, to satisfy his psychological needs, to basically a literal term that excludes only spree killers, like Andrew Cunanan, and mass murders, who kill all of their victims at essentially the same time:

    ***

A serial killer is typically a person who murders three or more people,[1] usually in service of abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month and including a significant period of time between them.[1][2] Different authorities apply different criteria when designating serial killers.[3] While most set a threshold of three murders,[1] others extend it to four or lessen it to two.[3] The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), for example, defines serial killing as “a series of two or more murders, committed as separate events, usually, but not always, by one offender acting alone”.[4]

Although psychological gratification is the usual motive for serial killing, and most serial killings involve sexual contact with the victim,[5] the FBI states that the motives of serial killers can include anger, thrill-seeking, financial gain, and attention seeking.[6] The murders may be attempted or completed in a similar fashion. The victims may have something in common, for example, demographic profile, appearance, gender or race.[7] A serial killer is neither a mass murderer, nor a spree killer.

    ***

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_killer

    ***

In 2005, the FBI hosted a multi-disciplinary symposium in San Antonio, Texas, which brough [sic] together 135 experts on serial murder from a variety of fields and specialties with the goal of identifying the commonalities of knowledge regarding serial murder. The group also settled on a definition of serial murder which FBI investigators widely accept as their standard: “The unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s) in separate events.”[16] The definition does not consider motivation for killing nor define a cooling-off period.
