From the New York Times:

Body Believed to Be That of Mollie Tibbetts, Iowa College Student, Is Found

By Christina Caron and Melissa Gomez
Aug. 21, 2018

A body believed to be that of Mollie Tibbetts, a 20-year-old student at the University of Iowa who vanished a month ago after going for a jog, was found on Tuesday morning, investigators announced. A 24-year-old resident of rural Poweshiek County has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing.

The body was found in a field southeast of Brooklyn, Iowa. Ms. Tibbetts was last seen nearby on July 18, Rick Rahn, a special agent of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, said at a news conference.

“The identity has not been confirmed, however, we believe it to be the body of Mollie Tibbetts,” Mr. Rahn said. The authorities did not say what the specific cause of death was; an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

The man charged in the killing is Cristhian

Somebody should do a study of the average number of initial words a typical New York Times subscriber can read in a typical New York Times article without any facts being mentioned that might prove uncomfortable to his/her/their worldview. For example, in this article, if the reader gives up on the story after reading the 155th word — “Cristhian” — he/she/they is going to take away the message:

“The murderer is another homicidal Jesus-loving Republican redneck whose low IQ trailer trash mother couldn’t even spell ‘Christian’ right.”

If you read far enough into New York Times stories, however, usually a fact or two emerges less supportive of the View from Park Slope. For example:

Bahena Rivera, an undocumented immigrant, he said. He said that Mr. Rivera had lived in the area for four to seven years but did not say where he was from.

  1. Did it strike anyone as odd that before the cops found the murderer, the media kept showing pictures of Mollie with her boyfriend, Dalton Jack? That’s where they wanted the story to go: devious white male pretends he didn’t murder his lover, but he really did. (In fact, I just typed his name from memory because I’d heard it so often.)

That’s what happened in that other case where the guy strangled his wife and two daughters, and the media was pleased. That story will remain huge for months, because the narrative was fulfilled. But poor Mollie had the misfortune of being killed by a member of the kindest, hardest working group of people to ever walk the earth, so she’ll be removed from public view in short order.

It’s not really odd, or unexpected. Way back in 2005 during the “Runaway Bride” case the fair, even handed media (especially calm, rational ex-Prosecutor Nancy “What about the children?” Grace) had her fiancé tried, convicted, and ready to be sentenced in the court of public opinion.

Then Jennifer Wilbanks showed up alive. So the narrative had to shift to what a terrible person her fiancé had to be to drive her to fake a kidnapping.

Then it came out Jennifer was as nutty as a peanut patch. So the issue was dropped. The accuse the intimate partner narrative was so blatant in that case that it was the first time I really “noticed” the overt bias around it.

  2. Well, under the Zeroth Amendment as displayed on the Statue of Liberty, everyone is a potential resident of the USA.

Of course, the fact that he chose to illegally enter the US is neither here nor there and borders are actually illegal, at least according to some obscure Buddhist Religious law.

  3. I’ll give it to WaPo, they actually admitted it in the headline. Admittedly, that will probably change.

Exactly. I was meaning to make the same comment about the illegal delivery boy killing in NYC. The obvious question: what restaurant did he work for? RICO their ass!

And if these people have done some sort of lame ass compliance with the law, then Trump needs to be proposing a law that closes that loophole and puts in mandatory E-verify.

This case is even better--a*hole killed American girl. This is way, way better than the crap the enemy does with this child pulled from its (non) mother. Go full dog and pony. Sue the bastards enabling this. Introduce the legislation that makes it easy for people to go after the bastards employing these people. Demonize the Democrats who oppose it as killer enablers who sacrifice Americans on the alter of open borders.

Make this election--and Trump's re-election--about precisely this immigration issue. Border, security, jobs, wages, housing, affordable family formation, schools, traffic congestion, sprawl, environmental protection, etc. etc. etc.

Cristhian Rivera, charged in Mollie Tibbetts' death, worked at a farm owned by a prominent Iowa Republican family

Cristhian Rivera, the man accused in the death of Mollie Tibbetts, worked for a Brooklyn-area farm owned by the brother of a prominent Iowa Republican.

In a statement Tuesday night, Dane Lang, of Yarrabee Farms, said Rivera was an “employee in good standing” and was “shocked to hear” Rivera was implicated. Dane Lang is the son of Craig Lang, the former president of both the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation and the Iowa Board of Regents and a 2018 Republican candidate for state secretary of agriculture. ...In the statement, Dane Lang said Rivera worked for Yarrabee Farms for four years and "was vetted through the government's E-Verify system."

A couple of things to keep in mind about this current episode in US politics:

    1) Manafort was found guilty on items totally unrelated to Trump and the 2016 campaign. This whole investigation was started to prove "Russian" collusion. So far that is not even on the radar screen.

    2) The Cohen guilty plea today is still small potatoes. Maybe it was some kind of campaign finance violation. But once again it had nothing to do with the original purpose of the special council.

If you examine any presidential candidate, winner or loser, under a similar microscope you will find campaign finance violations too. There is no way a candidate raises a billion dollars for an election without some of it being dirty.

For example, an American can give $2700 per year to an individual candidate. But some rich guys will give their kids or employees another $2700 so that the kid or employee will immediately turn around and donate to the preferred candidate. That is a violation and it most certainly happens. If you have the resources to scour over a candidate, you will probably find such violations.

    3) The 3rd week of August of an election year is the "Bermuda Triangle" of political news. Some people are on vacation. Others are sending their kids back to school. Outside of people on blogs like this, no one is thinking politics. So no one is going to care in November what has taken place this week.

Usually in US politics you like to drop the "October Surprise" on your opponent when you are 2 weeks or so away from the election. People are paying attention then and the opponent might not have enough time to defend himself. If this is all Mueller has, then he has shot his wad prematurely.

    4) Of course they could still have the real Russia collusion stuff, but are just waiting to unload it in October. But it doesn't appear that is the case. Mueller had to get something and maybe this is the extent to what he will get. It would have been humiliating for Mueller to be given a multi-million dollar budget and almost two years to come up with nothing.

    , @candid_observer
    @22pp22

Most likely, this thing will backfire on the Dems.

A BS charge against Trump on campaign financing irregularities almost certainly wouldn't hold up in court, if he were actually indicted on it -- which, as sitting President, he surely would not be.

If it's used as a basis for impeachment, then it will fall way short of "high crimes and misdemeanors", and will go nowhere in the Senate.

But the problem for the Dems is that they are going to be pushed into supporting impeachment by their rabid base. But most voters will find the prospect of impeachment absurd and destructive under the circumstances. That's what most thought of Bill Clinton's impeachment, and he had much more serious charges against him.

I'm sure most Dems running for Congress don't want to have a push for impeachment hanging over them. That's why they've backed far off from it to date.

But, again, now they may be forced into it, over a nothingburger "offense".

Given the dynamics, this development, somewhat paradoxically, may well favor the Republicans. Overreaching does stuff like that.

    , @Anon
    @22pp22

Manafort isn't talking about Trump at all to Mueller, conviction or no conviction, and I doubt Cohen will either. Cohen plea-bargained very fast after getting caught to give himself the lightest penalty possible.

The one thing both these guys remember is that Trump, as president, has the power to pardon them. If they try to talk to Mueller to set up Trump for a fall, there will be no pardon from an irate Trump, and Pence won't give them a pardon because he doesn't care about them. They're not Pence's own guys. The situation will only go well for them if they keep their mouths shut, and they know it.

All Trump has to do it wait until after midterms are over to pardon them. It's two long years to the next election, and the issues that sunk Cohen and Manafort don't matter much to the average American, who is sick of all this talk about Russia, Russia, Russia.

  7. While I agree that many, if not most, readers of news do not read many, or at least not most, news articles through from start to finish, I do have a somewhat difficult time believing that many, if any, readers of the news actually would stop their reading of a news article in the middle of a murder suspect’s name’s being cited!?!

She was a TEENAGER, and voicing all the leftwing nonsense we've come to expect from that demographic. But she was still a teenager - a white girl from Iowa, attending college in Iowa, apparently raised in a religious home and dating a white guy. What are the odds she would have eventually come to her senses, had she not been mugged...no, raped and murdered...by reality? Probably better than 50%, especially with so much of the country shifting in that direction. She was not a hardened, hateful leftist getting what she wanted good and hard. Obviously it's not going to change anything for Miss Tibbetts, but it would be useful to know the whys and wherefores of this incident and I hope we find out.

Apparently, this woman is minding her own business, house sitting for her boyfriend and going out for a jog in the neighborhood. The illegal immigrant somehow sees her on the road parks his car and starts to run with her. Somehow the murder ensues.

There is no good answer. Either she was being stalked, or the perpetrator had some other prior acquaintance with her, or he didn't and just happened to see her to commit a crime of opportunity in f****ng Brooklyn, Iowa.

I don't know what to call this observation, but I've observed over the years that any policy we push, or any statement we make must be 100 percent correct, else it is either a policy failure or a false statement. The democrats are obviously not held to that standard.

For example, they tell us building a wall won't work because it will not keep out 100 percent of everyone who ever tries to cross the border. Hence, it is judged a failure and we mustn't countenance it.

On the other hand if the democrats push a program like Head Start that is clearly far from perfect, it must be failing because it wasn't properly funded, and thus it gets more money and continues.

Now when Trump states they are not sending their best, but rather they are sending rapists, murderers, etc., the media will consider that false if 100 percent of the Mexican immigrants are not actual rapists, murderers etc. Trump never meant to imply 100 percent of Mexican border crossers were hardcore felons. But since there are obviously quite a bit of nonviolent ones, Trump must be completely wrong.

Meanwhile Hillary called every Trump voter a deplorable and the media did not do a "fact-check" to set the record straight.

The church sponsors illegals in Iowa. They get arrested and the court date is far in the future, so they are now legal to work and live in the USA until the court date.

Why doesn't the government prosecute the employers and send them to federal prison. That would stop illegal immigration!

A 24-year-old resident of rural Poweshiek County has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing.

Or possible titillated by the next sentence, went a little further.

The body was found in a field southeast of Brooklyn, Iowa.

But seriously, readers of the NYT wouldn’t know whether the coed victim’s school was located in Ames or Cedar Rapids–much less where Brooklyn, Iowa is located.

As there’s not a great white defendant to obsess over, the point of the article is to obscure the inconvenient fact of the perpetrator with a barrage of details that serve to trivialize the crime.

A couple of things to keep in mind about this current episode in US politics:

    1) Manafort was found guilty on items totally unrelated to Trump and the 2016 campaign. This whole investigation was started to prove “Russian” collusion.

    3) The 3rd week of August of an election year is the “Bermuda Triangle” of political news. Some people are on vacation. Others are sending their kids back to school. Outside of people on blogs like this, no one is thinking politics. So no one is going to care in November what has taken place this week.

Usually in US politics you like to drop the “October Surprise” on your opponent when you are 2 weeks or so away from the election. People are paying attention then and the opponent might not have enough time to defend himself. If this is all Mueller has, then he has shot his wad prematurely.

    4) Of course they could still have the real Russia collusion stuff, but are just waiting to unload it in October. But it doesn’t appear that is the case. Mueller had to get something and maybe this is the extent to what he will get. It would have been humiliating for Mueller to be given a multi-million dollar budget and almost two years to come up with nothing.

  60. Highlighting illegal aliens’ crimes is great for everyone but most Americans. R/w grifters get page views, r/w leaders get to posture, and l/w leaders can then posture to their base. It’s good for grifters, but bad for the USA.

It’s good and necessary to point out facts, but if the goal is stopping amnesty harping on illegal aliens’ crimes obviously does not work. The push for amnesty continues despite Trump, Breitbart, Sailer, etc. etc. harping on it.

In fact, Trump and others harp on illegal aliens’ crimes in order to get amnesty. Those on left end of the curve only hear the “secure the border” part, they don’t hear the “immigration reform” aka amnesty part. They aren’t exactly reliable: they thought for years that Trump was against amnesty until he repeatedly removed all doubt.

The solution to these problems is to finally make arguments that undercut Dem leaders to their base, not just arguments that are good for page views. Trump, Breitbart, this site, etc. never make those arguments because their goal isn’t to stop amnesty, it’s just to increase their page views.

Apparently, this woman is minding her own business, house sitting for her boyfriend and going out for a jog in the neighborhood. The illegal immigrant somehow sees her on the road parks his car and starts to run with her. Somehow the murder ensues.

There is no good answer. Either she was being stalked, or the perpetrator had some other prior acquaintance with her, or he didn’t and just happened to see her to commit a crime of opportunity in f****ng Brooklyn, Iowa.

Most likely, this thing will backfire on the Dems.

A BS charge against Trump on campaign financing irregularities almost certainly wouldn’t hold up in court, if he were actually indicted on it — which, as sitting President, he surely would not be.

If it’s used as a basis for impeachment, then it will fall way short of “high crimes and misdemeanors”, and will go nowhere in the Senate.

But the problem for the Dems is that they are going to be pushed into supporting impeachment by their rabid base. But most voters will find the prospect of impeachment absurd and destructive under the circumstances. That’s what most thought of Bill Clinton’s impeachment, and he had much more serious charges against him.

I’m sure most Dems running for Congress don’t want to have a push for impeachment hanging over them. That’s why they’ve backed far off from it to date.

But, again, now they may be forced into it, over a nothingburger “offense”.

Given the dynamics, this development, somewhat paradoxically, may well favor the Republicans. Overreaching does stuff like that.

I don't believe anyone is implying she deserved to be murdered by an illegal Mestizo - quite the contrary. My personal comment was written with great bitterness - that a lovely, young White woman was raised in what should have been a safe, wholesome, middle-American environment, yet the (((cultural marxists))) still managed to infect her with ethnomasochism, and she ended up dead at the hands of a misbegotten piece of semi-human filth.

  72. Ha, ha, ha. This brings up a point I made about a year ago…

There are supposedly 11M illegal immigrants in the country and something like 15K annual murders. But I’m really not sure than more than 10 of the latter involve ordinary killings of whites by illegals (by “ordinary” I’m excluding rival drug-dealers shooting each other or wives stabbing husbands or that sort of thing). If so, then the typical white would be more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by an illegal immigrant.

One point I made is that given all the hair-trigger reactions of immigration activists and immigration websites, any such killing would probably get a considerable amount of attention these days. I think that anyone’s paying attention to such a very mundane killing in Iowa would tend to support that claim.

We’re almost two-thirds into 2018, and I can’t quite believe this is the first such incident of the year. But maybe some of the energetic commenters here can scour the archives of Breitbart and the Daily Stormer and at least locate five or six previous cases.

Well, I didn’t pay much attention to the VA election, but near the end the newspapers and the web were filled with stories about the extremely “racially divisive” TV commercials both for and against Gillespie…

Apparently, his campaign ran commercials on the terrible, deadly threat from the Salvadoran M-13 gang, and implied that his opponent was soft on them.

Not long afterwards, some Democratic group ran a commercial on the terrible, deadly threat from the KKK, and implied that Gillespie was soft on them.

Over the last decade, I think there have been close to 200,000 murders across America. I’d be surprised if even 20 of them were committed by M-13 members, and I’d guess that the body-count due to members of the KKK/Neo-Nazis/Skinheads was roughly in the same range.

So the Republicans accused the Democrats of being Martians, and the Democrats accused the Republicans of being Venusians. Politics as usual in America these days….

It isn't ridiculous for rhetorical purposes. It is no doubt perfectly true that illegal immigrants are not routinely murdering beautiful young white girls, but people find this sort of thing easier to grasp than graphs about average wages and so on, and claims about elites actively seeking to create a constantly replenishing underclass.

But on a different note, has anyone every tried to analyze murder stats by dividing them into domestic vs criminal/criminal vs random? I suspect that the lines are not always clear. If a woman at first engages sympathetically with a guy who later murders her, is that "domestic"? If a guy shows some interest in criminal activity, but then withdraws after he has seen "too much" and gets punished, is that criminal on criminal? I do suspect that if you draw the lines widely, then the number of "random" murder victims (including workplace killings, etc.) is a small portion of the whole.

The analogue of your Vioxx analysis applies here. The rare cases of murder are just an easy-to-meme synecdoche for the much larger costs of Third World invasion, which include actuarial effects hundreds (or thousands) of times larger than your number. Hosting tens of millions of illegals and amnestied-illegals and their children and relatives, for several decades, has led to a decline of jobs and wages (for natives), deterioration of the medical system, and an expansion of the drug trade.
This increases deaths from alcoholism, opiates, crime, drunk driving, and the whole spectrum of medical problems. The cumulative effect of all that extra death and suffering, summed over the US population, is presumably a lot more than "ten whites each year".

The other point of these murder stories is that these losses were preventable, by having a sane policy on borders and immigration.

    , @Anon
    @Ron Unz

It isn't homicide as much as impaired driving:

"As many as 7,500 Americans -- 20 per day -- are killed annually by unlicensed drivers, and Rosenberg calculates that more than half are the victims of illegal immigrants."

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/03/30/dad-turns-grief-from-sons-death-into-quest-to-tabulate-toll-illegal-drivers.html

10 per day adds up, especially over a decade. I'm assuming that most of the impaired illegal immigrants are Hispanic.

    , @Tex
    @Ron Unz

It's a eye-grabber. Saying that an illegal murdered an American has a lot more "gut punch" factor than 20M rather ordinary people have come into the country to establish demographic force that will enable to the left to establish permanent dominance.

If the illegals were all MS-13 gangbangers the right's struggle would be much easier. The reaction would be hard and complete. Instead they are fairly peaceable and largely hard-working. That makes them infinitely more dangerous. As may be expected Hispanics (citizen, immigrant, illegal, whatever) may be expected vote in tribal patterns, with a high degree of support for the Democrats, a pattern that in whites would be (and is) regarded as some sort of vile nazi/racist aggression (hence the late Ms. Tibbetts disdain for white people). If they left gets enough, they seize power. If they have the power, the leftist paradise will fall into the usual chaotic struggle, which only a dictator can resolve. Cromwell, Napoleon, Stalin, that's the way to rack up real death tolls.

I think the Flight 93 Election essay was a tremendous eye-opener for me. But it was dialectic that sways the intellect. A dead girl in a ditch is rhetoric, that moves emotions.

We live in an emotional world and always have.

Most of their "race war" section consists of reprinting reports of crimes committed by blacks, rather than by Hispanic or Asian immigrants.

For example, they tell us building a wall won’t work because it will not keep out 100 percent of everyone who ever tries to cross the border. Hence, it is judged a failure and we mustn’t countenance it.

On the other hand if the democrats push a program like Head Start that is clearly far from perfect, it must be failing because it wasn’t properly funded, and thus it gets more money and continues.

But how?? We still don't know the important hows and whys of this whole thing. Like Steve talks about how the NTSB investigates plane crashes, therefore it is important that the NTSB is organizationally independent of the FAA, which regulates air traffic.

What was the prior acquaintance of those two people. Was it in person, online, both, neither? Was it personal, SJW-hobby related, career related?

This is obviously a very bad thing morally and shouldn't have happened. But beyond that, it's also a horrible thing logistically. People like Bahena Rivera should never be alone with Mollie Tibbetts, should never even know who Mollie Tibbetts is, while she's minding her own business in Brooklyn, Iowa, and if that's not the case, there's some important things we have to figure out and make adjustments to.

Ha, ha, ha. This brings up a point I made about a year ago...

There are supposedly 11M illegal immigrants in the country and something like 15K annual murders. But I'm really not sure than more than 10 of the latter involve ordinary killings of whites by illegals (by "ordinary" I'm excluding rival drug-dealers shooting each other or wives stabbing husbands or that sort of thing). If so, then the typical white would be more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by an illegal immigrant.

One point I made is that given all the hair-trigger reactions of immigration activists and immigration websites, any such killing would probably get a considerable amount of attention these days. I think that anyone's paying attention to such a very mundane killing in Iowa would tend to support that claim.

We're almost two-thirds into 2018, and I can't quite believe this is the first such incident of the year. But maybe some of the energetic commenters here can scour the archives of Breitbart and the Daily Stormer and at least locate five or six previous cases.

This exactly. Yes, Mollie's murderer could have just as easily been a white redneck from Iowa, so some people argue that illegal immigration has nothing to do with it. Plenty of young white women who are murdered are murdered by white guys. But Mollie's murderer was a man who came into our country without permission from the American people and took whatever he wanted, including the life of a young American woman in order to (presumably) satisfy his sexual desire. That is the mark not of an immigrant, but of an invader. That's why it matters that her murderer was an illegal.

The USA is a strange country far away, but what happens there impacts us directly. Manafort isn’t talking about Trump at all to Mueller, conviction or no conviction, and I doubt Cohen will either. Cohen plea-bargained very fast after getting caught to give himself the lightest penalty possible.

The one thing both these guys remember is that Trump, as president, has the power to pardon them. If they try to talk to Mueller to set up Trump for a fall, there will be no pardon from an irate Trump, and Pence won’t give them a pardon because he doesn’t care about them. They’re not Pence’s own guys. The situation will only go well for them if they keep their mouths shut, and they know it.

All Trump has to do it wait until after midterms are over to pardon them. It’s two long years to the next election, and the issues that sunk Cohen and Manafort don’t matter much to the average American, who is sick of all this talk about Russia, Russia, Russia.

Most victims are innocent. I never implied that Mollie Tibbets deserved her sad fate. Some people mature slowly in Political matters. Others change their views overnight. Take my own case. Thanks to my independent readings and to my father's common sense, by age nineteen I was a full-blown reactionary. Until then, I'd been a luke-warm liberal, as befits a young college student. Exposure to actual nutty leftists in college, to vicious and greedy union men during strikes and the utter lawlessness of streets also helped in shaping my mind. My political change took less than 3 months, as I became a grown man, still immature in many ways but not in the political realm. (by age 19 I looked 24 years old).

Unfortunately, college brainwashing usually lasts a lifetime, the same as college debt! Many older women keep the same liberal open borders mentality throughout their whole life. With Mollie Tibbets we will never know.

If so, then the typical white would be more likely to be struck by lightning than killed by an illegal immigrant.

Revera’s employer, Craig Lang, was likely able to keep things under wraps with the FBI. His roots run deep in Iowa agriculture, state and national politics. He and his family own and farm on an industrial scale several thousand acres, and employ a large number of immigrant farm laborers. Lang was a University of Iowa Regent for six years, part of that time was president of that board, and is a past president of the national Farm Bureau. He had hoped to be appointed Iowa’s Secretary of Agriculture following the resignation of Bill Northey, and ran for the position in the June 2018 GOP Convention.

Mollie Tibbetts voiced a few leftist opinions, but her twitter feed doesn't seem to have been overrun with them. By no means did she deserve her fate.

The immigrant from Mexico charged in the kidnapping and murder of an Iowa college student worked at a dairy farm owned by the family of a prominent state Republican leader.

Yarrabee Farms said in a statement that Cristhian Bahena Rivera had worked at its farms for the last four years and was an employee in good standing. The company said it was shocked to hear that Rivera had been charged in the death of 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts.

Spokesman Dane Lang said Tuesday night that Yarrabee Farms is a “small family farm” owned by him and his father, Craig Lang, who has long been a prominent Iowa farmer and political figure.

Craig Lang previously served as president of the Iowa Farm Bureau and president of the Iowa Board of Regents, which governs the state’s public universities. In June, he lost a close GOP primary in the race for state agriculture secretary.

It isn’t ridiculous for rhetorical purposes.

If a woman at first engages sympathetically with a guy who later murders her, is that “domestic”? If a guy shows some interest in criminal activity, but then withdraws after he has seen “too much” and gets punished, is that criminal on criminal? I do suspect that if you draw the lines widely, then the number of “random” murder victims (including workplace killings, etc.) is a small portion of the whole.

This exactly. Yes, Mollie’s murderer could have just as easily been a white redneck from Iowa, so some people argue that illegal immigration has nothing to do with it. Plenty of young white women who are murdered are murdered by white guys. But Mollie’s murderer was a man who came into our country without permission from the American people and took whatever he wanted, including the life of a young American woman in order to (presumably) satisfy his sexual desire. That is the mark not of an immigrant, but of an invader. That’s why it matters that her murderer was an illegal.

  135. ron unz is really not very smart on this issue. i was almost killed by illegals who crashed into my car. how many americans are killed by illegals just from that?

also note the really stupid use of this statistical argument – the getting hit by lightning thing. used by many people, not just by our host here. but it’s always stupid and wrong. why?

almost all people successfully avoid getting hit by lightning, by, you know, TRYING TO AVOID getting hit by lightning. it’s not a random thing at all, like winning the lottery, which they always somehow conflate the probability of the two events.

what if people were TRYING TO GET HIT by lightning, instead of always trying to avoid it? then i bet a lot more people would get hit by lightning, and those statistics about the probability of getting hit by lightning, would be greatly changed, and the old odds would be totally worthless. like ron’s opinion on this topic.

jamming 30 million illegals into the US is like deliberately trying to get everybody hit by lightning.

Did it strike anyone as odd that before the cops found the murderer, the media kept showing pictures of Mollie with her boyfriend, Dalton Jack? That's where they wanted the story to go: devious white male pretends he didn't murder his lover, but he really did. (In fact, I just typed his name from memory because I'd heard it so often.)

That's what happened in that other case where the guy strangled his wife and two daughters, and the media was pleased. That story will remain huge for months, because the narrative was fulfilled. But poor Mollie had the misfortune of being killed by a member of the kindest, hardest working group of people to ever walk the earth, so she'll be removed from public view in short order.

    Replies: @Barnard, @mmack

I mean, if you can't find even ten whites killed each year by 11M illegals, isn't the whole issue pretty ridiculous?...

if you can’t find even ten whites killed each year by 11M illegals, isn’t the whole issue pretty ridiculous?

The analogue of your Vioxx analysis applies here. The rare cases of murder are just an easy-to-meme synecdoche for the much larger costs of Third World invasion, which include actuarial effects hundreds (or thousands) of times larger than your number. Hosting tens of millions of illegals and amnestied-illegals and their children and relatives, for several decades, has led to a decline of jobs and wages (for natives), deterioration of the medical system, and an expansion of the drug trade.
This increases deaths from alcoholism, opiates, crime, drunk driving, and the whole spectrum of medical problems. The cumulative effect of all that extra death and suffering, summed over the US population, is presumably a lot more than “ten whites each year”.

The other point of these murder stories is that these losses were preventable, by having a sane policy on borders and immigration.

Yes and no. I think that your analysis of risk is that the media oligarchy evaluates the right's propaganda to decide what is honest and credible and what isn't. My blanket assumption is that they consider it all toxic garbage and will get around to banning every last scrap of it when they can. I suspect what is holding them back is some internal consideration of when is a good time to strike.

In other words, I don't think we have any credibility to lose with people who can kick us off Twitter, Facebook, denounce us in Slate, the Atlantic, etc.

I'd say that it's easier to push the "look at this violent illegal alien" line than to assert that whites have the right to vote for what's in their best interest en bloc. Trump walked a fine line openly saying the former, but as far as I could see, has avoided saying the latter openly, even if that was the basis for his winning the White House. Other than Steve Sailer and Ann Coulter, it's not a common thing to hear. But push the concept of whites having a common identity, common interest, and a right to act on it, too hard, too visibly, and you get demonized as a white nationalist/nazi which puts limits on who you can reach. It's not so much a matter of losing credibility with gatekeepers as giving them a lever to destroy your credibility with the people you want to reach. Poor Mollie Tibbetts read the election returns and was moved to declare her hatred of whites just for having a visible voting pattern. More importantly, as you say, they do control the gates and can be as dishonest as they want.

I think the strategy is to accept the risk, but mitigate it by having some platform that is not directly under hostile control. That's why I like the Unz Review! Taki's too. Of course, that's easier said than done, as you well know.

We definitely have to play the role of media guerrillas. How to get around the stranglehold the left has is sort of like seeing a giant cliff and saying you just have to climb it. Trump's tweeting and Q are examples of the presidency playing the role of media guerrilla. It can be done but it's very difficult.

Since I don’t approve of whites making anti-white statements or people hooking up with strangers they meet online, I am not hysterical over either murder. I do think these two savages should be executed, though.

It’s a eye-grabber. Saying that an illegal murdered an American has a lot more “gut punch” factor than 20M rather ordinary people have come into the country...they are fairly peaceable and largely hard-working. That makes them infinitely more dangerous...We live in an emotional world and always have.

Well, at least that's a perfectly rational attitude to take. However, there's a problem with your analysis...

You opponents have almost total control of the mainstream media and the social media as well. They can get away with using lots of dishonest propaganda in a way that your side cannot.

An even bigger problem is that the people who totally control the Internet and social media mostly live here in Silicon Valley, which is very heavily Hispanic and immigrant. So if you go around saying things about Hispanic immigrants that they absolutely know from personal experience are totally ridiculous, they'll decide you're just a bunch of liars or lunatics, and more easily succumb to the demands of the ADL and the SPLC to ban you from every form of social media and Internet service.

That's basically the trade-off. You can energize your base, but risk losing credibility with the people who can just kick you off the Internet....

The 2010 United States Census reported that Palo Alto had a population of 64,403.[39] The population density was 2,497.5 people per square mile (964.3/km²). The racial makeup of Palo Alto was 41,359 (64.2%) White, 17,461 (27.1%) Asian, 1,197 (1.9%) African American, 121 (0.2%) Native American, 142 (0.2%) Pacific Islander, 1,426 (2.2%) from other races, and 2,697 (4.2%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3,974 persons (6.2%).

ron unz is really not very smart on this issue. i was almost killed by illegals who crashed into my car. how many americans are killed by illegals just from that?

also note the really stupid use of this statistical argument - the getting hit by lightning thing. used by many people, not just by our host here. but it's always stupid and wrong. why?

almost all people successfully avoid getting hit by lightning, by, you know, TRYING TO AVOID getting hit by lightning. it's not a random thing at all, like winning the lottery, which they always somehow conflate the probability of the two events.

what if people were TRYING TO GET HIT by lightning, instead of always trying to avoid it? then i bet a lot more people would get hit by lightning, and those statistics about the probability of getting hit by lightning, would be greatly changed, and the old odds would be totally worthless. like ron's opinion on this topic.

jamming 30 million illegals into the US is like deliberately trying to get everybody hit by lightning.

I know exactly what that photo depicts and I stand by my WT remark. WT does not necessarily mean one is poor, otherwise there would be no need for the term 'poor white trash'.

Behavior is a better indicator of WT. And public vandalism is such a behavior. Those in the photo would be the first to claim they hate Whites, and would call out Whites who don't measure up to their standards as WT. They would mock poor Whites too.

They are trash in my eyes and I will refer to them as such. The bonus is it might be a term that draws blood with them like cuckservative has done with GOPe.

Hope these callow fools posted this to their ubiquitous Facebook pages, and that it comes back to haunt them later. I’m sure that self-righteous assholes who take it upon themselves to destroy things that hurt their widdle feelz will be popular with employers. Self-doxxing out of their own arrogance would be sweet.

Yes and no. I think that your analysis of risk is that the media oligarchy evaluates the right’s propaganda to decide what is honest and credible and what isn’t. My blanket assumption is that they consider it all toxic garbage and will get around to banning every last scrap of it when they can. I suspect what is holding them back is some internal consideration of when is a good time to strike.

In other words, I don’t think we have any credibility to lose with people who can kick us off Twitter, Facebook, denounce us in Slate, the Atlantic, etc.

I’d say that it’s easier to push the “look at this violent illegal alien” line than to assert that whites have the right to vote for what’s in their best interest en bloc. Trump walked a fine line openly saying the former, but as far as I could see, has avoided saying the latter openly, even if that was the basis for his winning the White House. Other than Steve Sailer and Ann Coulter, it’s not a common thing to hear. But push the concept of whites having a common identity, common interest, and a right to act on it, too hard, too visibly, and you get demonized as a white nationalist/nazi which puts limits on who you can reach. It’s not so much a matter of losing credibility with gatekeepers as giving them a lever to destroy your credibility with the people you want to reach.

That’s why I like the Unz Review! Taki’s too. Of course, that’s easier said than done, as you well know.

We definitely have to play the role of media guerrillas. How to get around the stranglehold the left has is sort of like seeing a giant cliff and saying you just have to climb it. Trump’s tweeting and Q are examples of the presidency playing the role of media guerrilla. It can be done but it’s very difficult.

I mean, if you can't find even ten whites killed each year by 11M illegals, isn't the whole issue pretty ridiculous?...

As a regular reader of the Daily Stormer, though not Breitbart, I am indeed amused at how much difficulty their staff has in finding examples of the allegedly gigantic violent criminal threat that immigrants pose to white Americans. Most of their “race war” section consists of reprinting reports of crimes committed by blacks, rather than by Hispanic or Asian immigrants.

"A teenager of 21 years old?"

She turned 20 on May 8. Most or even all of the Tweets she wrote that people are citing were written before May 8. So yes, a teenager.

There is something to be said about the contradiction between her political opinions and who actually murdered her, but she just was a young woman still learning about life who still clung to the blame whitey beliefs the MSM and the education establishment encouraged her - you might say brainwashed her - into believing. If some hardcore 40 y.o. open borders shill had been raped and murdered by an illegal I'd feel no small amount of schadenfreude. But Mollie was a completely innocent victim.

    Replies: @BB753

Most victims are innocent. I never implied that Mollie Tibbets deserved her sad fate. Some people mature slowly in Political matters. Others change their views overnight. Take my own case. Thanks to my independent readings and to my father’s common sense, by age nineteen I was a full-blown reactionary. Until then, I’d been a luke-warm liberal, as befits a young college student.

As always, my advice for parents remains the same: don’t send your daughters to college!
