On the New York Times front page:

They just can’t drop the Peaceful Protest cliche, can they?

By Marc Tracy
Aug. 31, 2020, 6:13 p.m. ET

A journalist resigned on Saturday from his job at The Kenosha News after objecting to the headline of an article that chronicled a rally in support of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot seven times in the back by a white Kenosha police officer.

Daniel J. Thompson, a digital editor who said he was the only full-time Black staff member at the paper, which covers southeastern Wisconsin, said the headline did not accurately sum up the article and gave a false impression of the rally itself, which he attended.

The headline, which appeared on the Kenosha News website on Saturday, highlighted a remark from one rally participant: “Kenosha speaker: ‘If you kill one of us, it’s time for us to kill one of yours.’” The online version of the article included a 59-second video showing the person who spoke those words, a Black man who was not identified by name. …

The rally, billed as “Justice for Jacob,” came days after Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from Illinois, was charged with homicide in the killings of two protesters during earlier demonstrations in Kenosha.

If the protests in Kenosha are now finally peaceful, that might have something to do with young Mr. Rittenhouse.

… Shortly after 7 p.m. that day, he sent a text that included a screenshot of the headline to Bob Heisse, the executive editor of The Kenosha News.

“I don’t even know if I can associate with the company after that,” Mr. Thompson said in the text exchange. “I need to calm down, but I wanted you to know immediately.”

According to a screenshot provided by Mr. Thompson, Mr. Heisse responded, “Yes you should calm down. That is a public threat, and it is an exact quote at a rally that was to that point totally on message.”

We’re the New York Times and you’re just the Kenosha News. How dare you put headlines in your newspaper that we wouldn’t put in our newspaper?

  1. Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot seven times in the back by a white Kenosha police officer.

Wasn’t he shot 4 times out of 7 shots fired?

  2. Bob Heisse has more spine, courage and value as a human being than every rat in the Jew York Times put together. They are nothing but bullies and liars.

  3. Isn’t “speaker makes threat at peaceful protest” textbook MBD? The prestige-church media seem to want only stories about man getting bit; grass growing high in pointed rebuke to non-grow rhetoric; sun rising in Eastasia; etc.

Not that simple. A lot of this sort of quitting will be fake quitting--a protest, then demand for job back--or will come with a lawsuit about "hostile environment". Not that you can win, but a lot of this acting out drama which will end up being resolved by "please come back and work for us".

  5. How much longer before the Carlos Slim and the Sulzbergers all-but-empty the New York Times building by transitioning its staff of Internet trolls to work from home full time, and then surreptitiously replaces them with GPT-5 deep fake bots, complete with home addresses in houses abandoned by those fleeing NYC for the hinterlands?

  6. Serious question.

It's worth remembering that George Soros provided a greater part of the funding for the marijauna legalization movement well before he funded Occupy Wall Street, blm and antifa. Soros also created the fake "fact checking" site, Snopes, which labels information threatening to progs as falsehoods and falsehoods dangerous to the right as truths.

Soros clearly has a long term strategy that he's implemented with a certain tactical flair. Observing Soros in action is almost like seeing the collision of a Twilight Zone episode, with du Maurier's novel, "Trilby", and "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion".

  8. Seems like a reasonable response from the editor. What seems out of place to me is that a young reporter, black or not, has been emboldened by leftist trash from both social media and the mainstream press to think that he can make a demand like that of his boss.

Throughout the craziness of the past several years local papers (where they still exist) and local television news websites, as well as the Twitter accounts of their employees, have been invaluable in reporting on news and incidents where the mainstream press is acting like a filter to keep the story on-narrative.

An example is Jesse Smollet. Another is the jogging black youth shooting case, where uncomfortable details only came out via the local paper, which got the local government documents and reported on them.

A more worrisome example of what may be in our future is the Breonna Taylor case. Initially the local paper was excellent, such as in an article that timelined the entire event Rashomon-like using the police reports, media statements by Taylor family attorney, and a complaint filed to commence a civil lawsuit by the attorney, as well as other sources. This timeline showed that there were discrepancies in the various reports, and plenty of things that needed to be investigated to clear things up. For instance, the boyfriend claimed to have basically fired into the closed door without knowing they were cops, which if true would explain many things and bring into question many things. However, the other day, looking again for that article, it seemed to have vanished, and all recent coverage is really woke. What is going on there?

Strongly disagree. I was a regular pot smoker decades ago. I somewhat recently tried what the kids are smoking now, and... that shit'll give you brain damage! The sense of paranoia generated is pronounced! Since I had enough experience with drugs back in the day, the wave of paranoia was manageable for me, but it was highly unpleasant. My short-term memory for the next two days was for shit. All this from three short drags of a joint full of today's pot.

I cannot believe a kid who is a regular smoker of today’s pot isn’t suffering from mental impairment.

I have said "serious question" exactly three times. I know this thanks to the handy-dandy search feature on Unz.

I use the phrase, which I do think is somewhat silly, because it's become an internet way of cautioning that one is not trolling, but is asking a question in good faith.

With that in mind, I don't follow it with "something dumb" unless you think the following are dumb.

    On July 11, I asked

"How does the NFL survive? Serious question. Why do whites subject themselves to this abuse?"

Is that dumb? I don't think so. Why *do* whites subject themselves to watching the NFL?

On May 28, I posted this:

Serious question. Why do you think that the left is about to collapse, when they have the universities and the media solidly behind them? Because their ideas are nuts? That's not the way the world works.

I posed the question to someone who claimed that the vaunted 'coalition of the fringes' was going to collapse. Since then, the coalition of the fringes has managed to destroy yet another Midwestern town, and has made corporate America and the cultural elite bow and scrape.

My question got three answers. One of the responses was from you.

  40. They just can’t drop the Peaceful Protest cliche, can they?

Don’t you just love that the NY Times follows the Adolph Hitler style book?

    Tell the lie big …

All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.

It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

    — Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X[1]

and stick to it, as added by Göbbels:

The essential English leadership secret does not depend on particular intelligence. Rather, it depends on a remarkably stupid thick-headedness. The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.

Although, "The Protocols..." is a forgery, comparing it against events over the last sixty years and in particular George Soros's latter day involvement, one cannot help but notice many extraordinary parallels and similarities.

Soros's long "march through the institutions" is fact not fiction, although Soros certainly resembles a James Bond suoper-villain. His long term strategy seems to have been very carefully plotted. That he began by funding a successful long-term campaign to legalize Marijuana across the USA, suggests that he thought Marijuana use was a good way to grease the skids for further prog adventures. You’d think that they would want to, eventually. Not only do people not really buy it, but when there actually are peaceful protests, all it does is remind people that the protests haven’t been peaceful, by and large.

Like, you never hear an anti-abortion protest described as a “peaceful protest”. You never hear that there was a “peaceful protest” to protest against the demolition of some old historical building. Why would you? Everyone just assumes that protests like that are peaceful.

Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot seven times in the back by a white Kenosha police officer.

I have to say the thing they are doing capitalizing Black and using lower case for white, is really working.
Reading through that sentence the first time without reflecting, I felt that the Black guy was important and the white guy was insignificant. And I know better.
    Propaganda works.

The speed of this black to Black transition reflects a fear of culture enforcers more efficient and merciless than anything we’ve ever seen in the US.

Back when the US was a free country, black could replace negro at an organic pace, and multiple terms — negro and colored, African American and black — could coexist.

And now the new Antifa weirdo Who shot the Trump supporter in Portland also has an uber-Germanic name.

What’s going on? Steve opined a whole back that these northwest Antifa types were Scandinavian descendants of the Wobblies or something. But it seems like there’s a lot of Germans among them.

Are these Germanic boys pissed at their authoritarian fathers? Kind of like the Jewish girl rad feminists who suffer from a similar affliction, which Steve has also correctly, I believe, noticed. Just wondering.

Northern Europeans tend to be a little more intense, perhaps more into ideology?

Germans are the most common ethnic group among white Americans.

Thought experiment. If this had happened in Bensonhurst, the shootist would have been Italian-American. (And yes, I know this wouldn't have happened in Bensonhurst - this is a thought experiment.)

Huber and Grosskreutz are both German names. I heard some low-IQ types elsewhere on Unz pontificating that Mr. "Big Cross" was a Jew.... not impressive. Jo Jo Rosenbaum may have had a Jewish grandfather, but I doubt it. It's just a German name. I read somewhere that his sister was getting a pastor for the funeral. Good riddance by the way.

Having said all of this I don't notice a preponderance of Germanic names in Andy Ngo's parade of miscreants. I'm continually shocked at how Anglo-Saxon middle American most of them are. Like Manson's followers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if most of them come from broken homes. Tucker Carlson mentioned something on his show a month ago or so. I don’t know if it was original to him or if somebody else coined it but he said, in effect, the most important determinant to how somebody grows up is their relationship with their father, for girls as well as boys. I think there is a lot of truth in that. It not only explains differences between people from different families, but differences between siblings in the same family.

That sounds reasonable, but he claims he is done with journalism. This looks like his current strategy.
