Here are a couple of funeral shootings within a few hours drive of me.

From the Fox 11 News in Los Angeles:

Mother pleads for answers after son is killed leaving South LA funeral
By Koco McAboy Published 1 day ago South Los Angeles FOX 11

LOS ANGELES – A mother is pleading for answers after her son was shot and killed while leaving a funeral in South LA on September 11.

And from the Bakersfield Californian:

Attendees, employees, owner left reeling after deadly shooting at Basham Funeral Care
By QUNN WILSON [email protected] Sep 17, 2020 9

A deadly shooting outside Basham Funeral Care on Thursday left virtually everyone in attendance traumatized.

“There’s so many feelings that you have that you can’t explain,” said John Basham, owner of the establishment located at 3312 Niles St. “We felt like we were being attacked.”

At 11:55 a.m. the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a possible active shooter at the funeral home in east Bakersfield. Shortly after, they located a 28-year-old man shot dead in the parking lot. A funeral that the victim was going to attend was occurring at the time.

Basham said that the shooting had “nothing to do” with the family they were serving. He explained that the service was just a “normal, everyday funeral” and that due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 25 percent capacity was allowed inside while about 100 people congregated in the parking lot.

Basham said he was busy making photocopies when he heard about five to six gunshots, followed by nearly all of the people outside of the building running inside to take cover. He said there was an individual who suffered a seizure during all the hysteria.

“The family (we were serving) is traumatized, the people who were here have been traumatized by this and my employees have been traumatized,” Basham said. “A funeral home or cemetery are kind of sacred grounds and these kinds of things don’t take place there, so it was totally unexpected.”

Of course, these were black funerals.

In my recent Taki’s Magazine column “Just Knock It Off” I wrote:

My guess is that there are some low-hanging fruit in contemporary African-American culture—absurdly dysfunctional tendencies—that should and could be made taboo.

For example, there should be a cultural proscription on the disgraceful practice of shooting up funerals and other memorial services. Self-respecting criminals should be ashamed to do that. …

Mayors and governors could help blunt the current spike in black-on-black carnage by announcing that the bans on large gatherings due to the pandemic apply to black funerals, too.

But, as we saw with the immense George Floyd and John Lewis funeral orgies, those rules don’t seem to apply to blacks. …

Instead, however, our society has been pushing in the opposite direction, promoting in blacks an ever-growing sense of megalomania and impunity.

How’s that working out for us?

  1. A mother is pleading for answers

Well, we have answers but you won’t like them. For starters, defunding police isn’t actually going to bring the number of shootings down. Used to be hospitals and funerals weren’t actually common shooting grounds, if anyone can remember back that far.

More broadly, we need to fix the mass media. You know, the ones who keep claiming that black people are disproportionately affected by police action. Good luck with that.

Even hospitals haven't been immune from gang-related shootings -- for well over a decade in SoCal.

A friend is an RN at an ER in suburban San Bernardino. Two wetback gangs got into a shooting fracas -- one gang suffered numerous members shot -- and the offenders followed the ambulances to the hospital and then proceeded to shoot up the ER.

Somehow, during all of this crime wave and immigration fiasco, wetbacks have been given a pretty free ride to do as they do -- crime after crime after crime -- and none of it gets reported. Has mexican crime really stopped? Hell no …

The closest we have come to this kind of paternalistic and benevolent governance of blacks is the Redeemer governors in the Old South before Populists took over.

  5. I was working in Philadelphia during the beginning of the crack wars. I looked down one day from an office on Chelten Avenue in Germantown; then, as now, heavily black. There was a funeral procession making its way down the street, obviously a black funeral and likely a drug dealer judging by the flash cars and early SUVs.
Across the street from my vantage point was a Burger King. A car not involved in the funeral took advantage of a gap in the funeral procession to dart into the Burger King lot. The next two cars in the procession turned into the lot after him. The drivers jumped out, pulled the intruding driver (also black) out of his car and beat him to a pulp right there in broad daylight. Then they straightened their suits, blew on their knuckles, and rejoined the parade. Nowadays they’d likely have shot him.

  6. One of the–it’s a long list–utterly useless aspects of the Obama presidency is that he made precisely zero attempt to actually lower the racial temperature, even in ways that would really help blacks.

Good whites were trying to send a “hey let’s all get along” message with his election and Obama–if he really believed in that message–could have run with that and had “let’s get better” ideas for both races.

Obvious #1 is telling black men to put down the gun–stop shooting each other. Easy sell on racial loyalty. And pushed lots of jobs programs as the flip side–government money wasn’t exactly tight during the Great Recession stimulus. (If he really wanted to show racial loyalty and get serious about improving the black community’s job prospects, E-verify and an immigration moratorium. But that isn’t on the agenda of the people who actually run the Democratic party.)

The one that seemed like an easy no-brainer to me would have been to specifically tell black men “don’t resist arrest”. Explain that we as a society actually send cops out to get into other people’s business. It isn’t pleasant, to have them messing with you–running you in. None of use like it.
But if you resist arrest–things will escalate and won’t end well. Obama could sugar coat it with the “We need you around, don’t resist and die on the street.” He could have invited Chris Rock to be part of the campaign and used his video. Instead, of course, Obama went the other way … “racist whitey is gunning us down! Really shameful.

Great post, as always, and I emphatically agree that the Obama presidency was a huge missed opportunity, but as it turned out Obama had no interest in improving race relations. He knew that exacerbating them would benefit him more politically and that if he were to offer constructive criticism to blacks, they would immediately tag him as an Uncle Tom.

In his 2008 campaign, Obama made cynical use of whites' hope that he would be even-handed in his criticism of blacks and whites. In an address to the NAACP, he spoke of the need for blacks to take more responsibility for themselves, an approach that provoked Jesse Jackson to say he was talking down to blacks and "I'd like to cut his nuts off."

Shelby Steele thought Obama was taking the civil rights movement in a necessary new direction. He wrote in the Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Obama's great political ingenuity was very simple: to trade moral leverage for gratitude. Give up moral leverage over whites, refuse to shame them with America's racist past, and the gratitude they show you will constitute a new form of black power. They will love you for the faith you show in them....

Normally, "black responsibility" is a forbidden phrase for a black leader -- not because blacks reject responsibility, but because even the idea of black responsibility weakens moral leverage over whites. When Mr. Obama uses this language, whites of course are thankful. Black leaders seethe.

Nevertheless, Mr. Obama's sacrifice of black leverage has given him a chance to actually become the president. He has captured the devotion of millions of whites in ways that black leveragers never could.

Of course, once president, Obama totally dropped any assignment of responsibility to blacks.
    , @MBlanc46
    @AnotherDad

I remember how the media gushed that Obama was a “post-racial” president and that the racial strife of the past was going to just melt away. As noted, Obama ramped up the racial strife, the media jumped on the bandwagon, and they’ve been pushing racial grievance hard ever since. Things are so bitter now that it’s hard to see that such peace as we had can ever be restored.

  7. Black guys love the movie, ‘King of New York.’ Puff Daddy used to also go by ‘Frank White.’ There’s a funeral scene.

  8. Self-respecting criminals should be ashamed to do that.

  13. How about stopping black funeral murders, by causing other racial funeral murders?

(I can’t find a good clipped scene but there’s a funeral procession going on until it’s crashed by a rival Chinese street gang.)

  14. How’s that working out for us?

    Who is “us”?

If blacks murder each other at funerals, barbecues, graduations, AirBnb rentals, block parties, pickup basketball games, and anti-violence rallies, I still don’t see the “us” in that, only the “them”.

When I was teaching 5th/6th grade at a parochial school in North Long Beach in the late 80’s one of my students regaled me with a story of how a church where a funeral he had attended the day before for a relative was shot up by some rival gang bangers in the middle of the service and how everyone needed to take cover. So it’s not a new phenomenon. And then I saw a George Floyd style funeral procession for a Banger in the 90’s in Leimert Park when I had to take a kid home in the middle of the day because he forgot his Basketball uniform there. He wanted to get back to our little HS in Inglewood ASAP.

Germantown was a little village outside of Philadelphia during the Revolution. George Washington lost a battle with the British there during the Philadelphia campaign in 1777. As Philadelphia grew, it was absorbed into the city. I don’t really know when it went black but it must have been a long time ago. When I was a kid, driving a car while leaned over to the right was called the “Germantown lean.”

Philadelphia has a number of neighborhoods the names of which no longer fit. Brewerytown and Nicetown spring to mind.

One of the--it's a long list--utterly useless aspects of the Obama presidency is that he made precisely zero attempt to actually lower the racial temperature, even in ways that would really help blacks.

Good whites were trying to send a "hey let's all get along" message with his election and Obama--if he really believed in that message--could have run with that and had "let's get better" ideas for both races.

Obvious #1 is telling black men to put down the gun--stop shooting each other. Easy sell on racial loyalty. And pushed lots of jobs programs as the flip side--government money wasn't exactly tight during the Great Recession stimulus. (If he really wanted to show racial loyalty and get serious about improving the black community's job prospects, E-verify and an immigration moratorium. But that isn't on the agenda of the people who actually run the Democratic party.)

The one that seemed like an easy no-brainer to me would have been to specifically tell black men "don't resist arrest". Explain that we as a society actually send cops out to get into other people's business. It isn't pleasant, to have them messing with you--running you in. None of use like it.
But if you resist arrest--things will escalate and won't end well. Obama could sugar coat it with the "We need you around, don't resist and die on the street." He could have invited Chris Rock to be part of the campaign and used his video. Instead, of course, Obama went the other way ... "racist whitey is gunning us down! Really shameful.

Negroes shooting other negroes at negro funerals. There seems to be some kind of TNL (Typical Negro Logic) going on here.

  41. Rochester, NY mass shooting

The gathering began as a small invite-only affair, police said. But two other parties in the neighborhood later coalesced at the one location and apparently were joined by people who earlier in the night had attended a vigil for another shooting victim.
    …..
As police arrived on scene, they radioed for additional officers — and the need for outside agencies — to respond. At one point, a dispatcher asked: “Does anyone know how many more cars we need to the location?” The response came back: “Everybody, please.”

How much Hispanic crime doesn't get reported at all due to a combination of don't-snitch culture, illegals fearful to interact with the police and general immigrant insularity from the rest of American society?

    Replies: @Dago Shoes

Primarily, it’s still a result of b h o’s agenda to make sure no illegals get deported … and many non-Federal prosecutors are all too willing to go along with his agenda of making sure that they do not get charged with the crimes they actually commit … but something so light that they will not get deported — in fact, they will not even have to post bail.
