One explanation I haven’t heard for Trump’s strong performance among Hispanic voters in 2020 has been the high regard in which the leftist president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, holds Trump. If your cousins back in Mexico are big AMLO fans and they tell you AMLO likes Trump, that cuts across ideological lines pretty well.

I predicted back in 2018 in a Taki’s column that AMLO and Trump would get a long pretty well:

Also, AMLO is coming to power at a time when Latin American socialists are chastened by the failures of their recent decade of ascendancy in South America.

Thus, in 2018, AMLO campaigned less on dogmatic socialism than on a Trump-era nationalist populism skeptical of globalist neoliberalism.

For example, AMLO critiques NAFTA for banning Mexico’s traditional tariffs that protected its small corn farmers, whose ancestors had been growing corn for thousands of years. The beneficiaries were massively efficient Midwestern American farmers, whose cheap corn imports pushed huge numbers of Mexican peasants into illegally migrating to the U.S. over the last quarter of a century.

I think the Trump-AMLO friendship was an enemy-of-my-enemy thing involving the Bush family in the US and the various neoliberals in Mexico like the Salinas family, with whom Jeb Bush used to vacation.

On election night 1988, the Mexican party of the left was finally about to win a Presidential election when suddenly the lights went out at the vote counting central. When the power finally went back on, the ruling Institutional Revolutionary party was somehow in the lead.

When the Cold War ended, the PRI president Carlos Salinas went to George H.W. Bush with a message the Bush family had long dreamt of: Mexico would open up to American business if it could be included in the free trade pact the US was (boringly) negotiating with Canada. This has been the Grand Strategy of the Bush family ever since GHWB had to hire front men to nominally own his Zapata oil company in Mexico because Americans have been banned from the Mexican oil biz since 1938.

It’s not widely recognized in the U.S. media that the Bush dynasty’s fundamental strategic vision over the last half century has been to knock down the barriers keeping American business out of Mexico in return for lowering the barriers keeping Mexican people out of America. (It’s not a coincidence that two President Bushes’ oil firms were named Zapata and Arbusto.)

This is not an irrational plan, but it benefits elites more than publics.

This became NAFTA and the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the Bushes and the Salinases, at least until the Salinases’ enemies started winding up dead in 1993-94.

AMLO especially sympathizes with Trump’s complaints about election fraud, in part because Lopez Obrador believes the 2006 Mexican presidential election was stolen from him by a late-arriving vote dump. He led a year of protests outside the capitol, then finally was elected president in 2018.

From the Associated Press:

Mexican president mounts campaign against social media bans
By MARK STEVENSON
yesterday

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s president vowed Thursday to lead an international effort to combat what he considers censorship by social media companies that have blocked or suspended the accounts of U.S. President Donald Trump.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration is reaching out to other government to form a common front on the issue.

“I can tell you that at the first G20 meeting we have, I am going to make a proposal on this issue,” López Obrador said. “Yes, social media should not be used to incite violence and all that, but this cannot be used as a pretext to suspend freedom of expression.”

“How can a company act as if it was all powerful, omnipotent, as a sort of Spanish Inquisition on what is expressed?” he asked.

Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said Mexico is starting to build an international campaign around the issue.

“Given that Mexico, through our president, has spoken out, we immediately made contact with others who think the same,” Ebrard said, noting they had heard from officials in France, Germany, the European Union, Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

“The president’s orders are to make contact with all of them, share this concern and work on coming up with a joint proposal,” Ebrard said. “We will see what is proposed.”

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is among those who have publicly criticized the action against Trump. Her spokesman said Monday the German leader found it “problematic” that corporate managers could deny someone access under rules not defined by law.

The German Chancellor is not particularly interested in the American tradition of freedom of speech, but is interested in the Westphalian tradition of state sovereignty.

… López Obrador has not said whether he is thinking of trying to regulate social media platforms or perhaps just switching to a new outlet. On Tuesday, he posted an invitation on Facebook — the platform he most frequently uses — for his followers to switch to Telegram.

… López Obrador says private companies should not have the right to decide who can speak. But the issue also displays his closeness to Trump, and his off-again, on-again love of social media.

Ramírez Cuevas said López Obrador manages his own social media accounts, and is not being ironic when he uses a favorite phrase, “the blessed social media.”

“When he talks about the blessed social media, he is referring to the citizens who use it freely to express opinions freely and get information,” Ramírez Cuevas said. “The mass use of social media has allowed his message to get through, when before it was blocked by traditional news media.”

Like Trump, López Obrador thinks traditional media outlets are biased against him, and like Trump, the Mexican president has used the term “fake news,” or Spanish variants of it.

The two men had such a close relationship that Trump, in one of his only public appearances since Jan. 6, heaped extensive praise on López Obrador, calling him “a great gentleman, a friend of mine.”

“I want to thank him for his friendship and his professional working relationship,” Trump said. “He is a man who really knows what’s happening, he loves his country and he also loves the United States.”

The relationship was based not on ideological affinity, but on the help Mexico provided — under U.S. pressure — to stop Central American migrants from reaching the U.S. border. Trump bragged that “we actually had 27,000 Mexican soldiers guarding our borders over the last two years.”

Trump’s success with Mexico, a hugely important foreign country for us that bores most American elites, is one of the more improbable of his administration. The Biden Administration is under a lot of pressure from interest groups to junk that progress, although I vaguely sense that Biden himself is uneasy about doing that.

A friend theorized that Republicans in the future could not win Hispanic votes without a candidate who is a muy macho bro, somebody who represents male camaraderie, thus dooming many higher IQ Republicans like Cruz and Hawley.

  1. The zeroeth amendment to the US constitution says Twitter is allowed to ban a sitting president from a public forum for being EVIL. That’s democracy… Well blow me down…, Angela merkel agrees with me on the grounds that there are no codified rules on the issue. Good for her?
In that case… that’s democracy. Ask unelected European Union commission president Ursula von der Layen.

Poland plans to make censoring of social media accounts illegal
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/14/poland-plans-to-make-censoring-of-social-media-accounts

Polish government officials have denounced the deactivation of Donald Trump’s social media accounts, and said a draft law being readied in Poland will make it illegal for tech companies to take similar actions there.

“Algorithms or the owners of corporate giants should not decide which views are right and which are not,” wrote the prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, on Facebook earlier this week, without directly mentioning Trump. “There can be no consent to censorship.”

As things go downhill, immigration from Mexico and Central America will fade. If things go really downhill, immigration may reverse. Certainly the worst, the upper-caste Hindu SJW grifters will go home. At least immigrants and their children, American citizen or not. Also, as anarchy-tyranny progresses, and as Summer of Floyd becomes Era of Floyd, whites will move towards our side philosophically. They will not become conservative. Liberal and conservative are temperaments not politics. Either the progressive push is a mile wide and an inch deep, so no one will be willing to pay taxes to have dumb, wild blacks in their neighborhoods have their kids miss out on educational opportunities so a black or Hispanic can fill a seat to add flavah, or the progressive push is driven by true believers who, while they might not sacrifice their kids to Baal the Diversifier, they will sacrifice yours.

We may have to take off our hbd cloaks and put on our social justice technicolor dreamcoats. Call out woke companies for not hiring blacks and mestizo/mulatto Hispanics at their percentages of the relevant age range. When woke companies relocate to get away from diversity, try to get social media campaigns going against them. Feed the info and ideas to black and Hispanic race warriors you know. Try to force the upper-middle class and above to suffer from the integration drives. NCLB (if unrepealed) makes states release test scores by race for every school. Call out higher income districts for failing their blacks and Hispanics. What if black and Hispanic students do just as well as whites at those schools? That will not happen, because hbd is true. Do they not have enough blacks? Oh not many blacks live in that district? Oh, because racists will pay a lot of money to put their kids into good schools? What’s so good about, the white students do fine. So you think their good because they don’t have many NAMs? Clearly, these schools need lots more blacks and Hispanics bussed in. Better yet, welfare blacks can be moved into section 8 housing in that district. These kids need to learn not to be racist, which is not what they are learning from their parents’ actions...that’s just a small facet of education. There are a thousand ways to make the woke and progressive upper classes live by their ideals. There is employment, location, partner choice...

A 15% nonwhite America could afford to have the black portion of doctors be AA incompetents at 5% of physicians. They mostly treated fellow minorities, and the merit-based 90% of doctors set the culture. A 50% ( then 55, then 60...) non-white America will not be able to have proportional representation of non-whites in the professions and corporations without significant decline. To avoid that as much as possible, organizations will try to limit AA to as few people as possible. A couple tokens. They will game the system, employing Argentine Jews for Hispanics, and quarter or less ‘blacks’ for African-Americans. Don’t let them do that in silence! Call out organizations for having x percent minorities as 2/3 of those being Asians, Argentine Jews, and ‘black’ Brazilians. Races have intermixed much more in Brazil, and there are plenty of people who look quite black, but got lots of invisible white privilege in genes that don’t make up the traits we associate with visible race. They are the next Argentine Jewish math profs. They might not know that they would be ‘black’ in America, because they are pardo (or whatever) in Brazil. I think the ethnicities who are going to be the next immigrants to exploit Diversity! in America to be very interesting.

Work from home means companies are going to relocate where living is cheaper. If companies don’t, then workers will. Work from home means lots of women will find having more kids easier. Because lots of downscale jobs need to be done in person, smart white women may see a big fertility boost from the after affects of corona. People with kids are more concerned about their futures than those without. The white flight de-urbanized FloydFest refugees will not be as woke as they were before black crime and grime drove them from their urban fantasylands formerly protected by police. If crime does not drive them out, dealing with the dim, newly ascendant dumb, newly ascendant blacks ar work will.

When wokism is dies and hbd reigns, because wokism will either not be tried or it fails, which it must because it is based on falsehoods, liberals will not become conservatives. Red Team! conservatives will not get women to be docile and back to the kitchen. You won’t get to ban birth control. You would be wise not to even tell them, ‘I told you so’, because you don’t

  5. The reason Merkel and Lopez Obrador are concerned is because they aren’t American and so can never feel TDS as hard. They’re just glad Trump is gone and don’t understand the psychotic need for ‘revenge’ that will backfire. Standing back, it is obvious the actions against Trump are unprecedented and make any political reconciliation impossible. But because they misunderstand what’s happening, the American elites will make this mistake. What the hell do you do the next election? Even if there isn’t a Trump-rising, will the MSM media be able to help itself characterizing any Republican as an enemy to be crushed?

And for Merkel and Lopez Obrador personally there are high stakes for the American elite pushing harder on immigration and globalisation rather than stepping back and realising doing that and nullifying any populist resistance was a much smoother path. For Merkel, she has her own incipient populist right and disruption to TINA has big implications for governing the EU and Germany itself and for Lopez Obrador, there is the danger that immigration becomes the central issue of the Republicans going forward, risking an essential social safety valve for Mexico’s socioeconomic inequality as well as a form of remittances and political influence.

As far as Merkel is concerned - yep, that plus: She gets that the AfD is all in for free speech - and - she is thinking in such complex ways - it is easier for her to censor the AfD (what the 85% of the parties of the well-meaning from left to Christian "conservative" already do and what she indeed wants to intensify. She figures that it will be easier to censor the AfD by claiming that she is against censorship. - Nice way to argue, isn't it?).

This - I'd hold, is way beyond her radar. She showed not the slightest bit of disgust when it appeared that all of her phone calls had been recorded by the Obama administration. Plus: she grew up in the GDR - the treaty of Westphalia was then a sign of state-repression to secure the power of the ruling classes... so:

The German Chancellor is not particularly interested in the American tradition of freedom of speech but is interested in the Westphalian tradition of state sovereignty.

  7. A lot of people (especially from southern European cultures) never get disciplined by their parents, so as adults they get all melodramatic when someone gets ‘censored’, because they are accustomed to an environment where everyone gets to yell whatever stupid and irrelevant shit is on their mind, including across the hallway at the top of their lungs, all the time (hence the increased death rate from Covid, the plague, etc.)

What someone apparently never told them is that if you got censored you were probably failing to communicate effectively, and thus you were already censored before it became
official. People who don’t realize this lack self-awareness. They are incapable of realizing on their own that the audience will never give a shit about anything they have to say, and that they are merely annoying everyone to the point of taking action to shut them up. Being forced to realize that no one gives a shit and that their speech was futile is a traumatic experience for them.

What is happening with Twitter is what should have happened in households all across the world: people are being told to shut their fucking mouths until they have something uniquely important to say, and say it well. That means no memes, no allegations of conspiracy or corruption, and no insults, among other things. The ruling class now recognizes that human speech is inherently evil, and it will only be tolerated in its most talented forms.

The people who have a place in the future world will re-assess their thoughts, examine whether or not they are really important, and find ways to communicate more effectively and strategically, and if not, do something better with their time. The people who can’t so that will be impoverished and excluded from civilization. We are witnessing natural selection in action. May the bar continue to rise.

I take your point about sometimes those being censored are being annoying and were already being ignored as much as possible. That brings to mind the class xkcd cartoon: https://xkcd.com/1357/. It would be more pleasant if the level of discourse were raised.

However, there are a number of problems with your vision:

    1) Not all censorship is about preventing annoying people from spamming the attentions of those that don't want to hear it. We see a lot of censorship used to prevent politically disfavored speakers from communicating with a potentially willing audience. It's used to prevent their growth and influence. In meat-space events, deplatforming is used to thwart the assembly and organization of like-minded people.

    2) Censorship is not and will not be evenly applied to different groups. Some groups will be free to use low-information-content communication like slogans or memes which work to energize the base or one side of a revolution, but other groups will be held to extremely high standards. The standards don't even have to be honest. See those calling any discussion of racial differences as incitement against minorities.

    3) Even if it were evenly applied, there would need to be a way for those unskilled at mass communication to practice and improve.

That's the danger, the US is still the principal nexus of media and power in the Western world, what happens there impacts and more importantly is seen and analysed in Europe. You can censor coverage of the Yellow Vests in France and nobody in non-Francophone countries will notice. (As, indeed, they didn't) In Europe, once Trump is gone, nobody cares, there are no 'Trump voters' to purge, people will start to look at it from a calmer perspective.

You can't go all authoritarian and overborard against these ideas in the US and not make those ideas both, more debated and more visible in the consciousness of ordinary people who were otherwise not 'class conscious' about issues of immigration and globalisation. You also make the people who hold those ideas in the face of nothing but social and economic punishment more sympathetic and earnest. People will start to feel like picking a side on the matter, first in their hearts and then perhaps more publicly.

The bigger issue for me is the seemingly constant near future state of political turmoil in the US undoes TINA and like demoralised policing to violent criminals, temps political entrepreneurs of many stripes to seize the moment of crisis and if there is one thing the post war constitution of Germany can't handle, it's political debate and crisis, it needs political consensus. To have it just in Germany is one thing, to have it in Germany, in the US and at the EU level simultaneously probably keeps them all up at night.

  11. I agree with the last statement about the type of candidate that appeals most strongly to Latinos, and I also think to maybe 20% of black men. Based on stuff I see on social media and some casual conversations, a lot of black men who are younger (as in 40s or less) and basically trad in how they live/outlook are turned off by the feminization of society, and like Trump’s unapologetic masculinity. If the GOP had the cojones to consistently put forward the same type of candidate, it would fit well with the massive opportunity it currently has with working and middle class voters, and grow its share of the minority vote without doing anything to turn off the white voters it needs as well.

I agree with the last statement about the type of candidate that appeals most strongly to Latinos, and I also think to maybe 20% of black men. Based on stuff I see on social media and some casual conversations, a lot of black men who are younger (as in 40s or less) and basically trad in how they live/outlook are turned off by the feminization of society, and like Trump's unapologetic masculinity. If the GOP had the cojones to consistently put forward the same type of candidate, it would fit well with the massive opportunity it currently has with working and middle class voters, and grow its share of the minority vote without doing anything to turn off the white voters it needs as well.

(Merkel) just wants America to go back to being normal and stable

That’s the danger, the US is still the principal nexus of media and power in the Western world, what happens there impacts and more importantly is seen and analysed in Europe. You can censor coverage of the Yellow Vests in France and nobody in non-Francophone countries will notice. (As, indeed, they didn’t) In Europe, once Trump is gone, nobody cares, there are no ‘Trump voters’ to purge, people will start to look at it from a calmer perspective.

You can’t go all authoritarian and overborard against these ideas in the US and not make those ideas both, more debated and more visible in the consciousness of ordinary people who were otherwise not ‘class conscious’ about issues of immigration and globalisation. You also make the people who hold those ideas in the face of nothing but social and economic punishment more sympathetic and earnest. People will start to feel like picking a side on the matter, first in their hearts and then perhaps more publicly.

The bigger issue for me is the seemingly constant near future state of political turmoil in the US undoes TINA and like demoralised policing to violent criminals, temps political entrepreneurs of many stripes to seize the moment of crisis and if there is one thing the post war constitution of Germany can’t handle, it’s political debate and crisis, it needs political consensus. To have it just in Germany is one thing, to have it in Germany, in the US and at the EU level simultaneously probably keeps them all up at night.

  21. The tech crackdown and push to install black nationalist ideology in the US are not going to raise America’s stature abroad. The “empire” is over if that’s all we have to offer. That includes our influence in Africa, BTW. Even during the Obama administration some black countries chafed at the idea of another African pushing them around (e.g. Uganda over gay agenda), and they will be even less obedient if Kamala ends up president.

It looks as though some elites have made a choice to sacrifice international influence so as to maintain domestic power. They will be substantially diminished by this, but perhaps they feel it’s worth it. The countries that have the most to worry about will be our next door neighbors. Of course, we Americans are in a perilous situation. An emboldened, outwardly aggressive elite is one thing, but a fearful, paranoid and inwardly defensive one is quite another.

A lot of people (especially from southern European cultures) never get disciplined by their parents, so as adults they get all melodramatic when someone gets 'censored', because they are accustomed to an environment where everyone gets to yell whatever stupid and irrelevant shit is on their mind, including across the hallway at the top of their lungs, all the time (hence the increased death rate from Covid, the plague, etc.)

What someone apparently never told them is that if you got censored you were probably failing to communicate effectively, and thus you were already censored before it became
official. People who don't realize this lack self-awareness.

The people who can't so that will be impoverished and excluded from civilization.

    1) Not all censorship is about preventing annoying people from spamming the attentions of those that don’t want to hear it. We see a lot of censorship used to prevent politically disfavored speakers from communicating with a potentially willing audience. It’s used to prevent their growth and influence.

The standards don’t even have to be honest. See those calling any discussion of racial differences as incitement against minorities.

    3) Even if it were evenly applied, there would need to be a way for those unskilled at mass communication to practice and improve.

    Depends on who you ask.

France no longer has a king; the Catholic Church has lost all social power (it can no longer set its opponents on fire); the average Jesuit is about 80 years old.

The KTs still exist, and are still influential.

One day the KTs will get their final objective - when the last Pope is killed, having been forced to squander the entire treasure that Catholicism has amassed over 15 centuries.

That's the second element of the avenging of Jacques de Molay (the first element was the overthrow of the French monarchy, and the public execution of the officeholder).

    They're playing a long game.

By 'KTs' I don't mean the US/Masonic KTs, which is basically a LARP. I mean the group whose upper hierarchy has documented direct succession to Godefroi de Bouillon (and de Molay).

I’ve become convinced after reading various posters & blogs and PJBs various books over the years that the demise& dissolution of the Soviet Union was 1 of the most horrible things to every happen to job security for the average working stiffs worldwide.

For instance love it or hate it the Soviet Union and its various satellites posted stable jobs and free healthcare for its citizenry by the 70s & 80s….this was anathema to the globalist scum who wanted rapid opening of borders and movement of 3rd world scab labor to destroy unions, reduce wages, make u that poor while they make you grovel at their feet for a worthless Walmart or Wendys “job” with no benefits and at best unstable working conditions……

When the Soviet Union collapsed the Big Tech slash managerial class slash tech automaters who were employed with Silicon Valley & our military industrial complex were focused on beating & out-designing and out engineering the Soviet military slash space industrial complex….

When the Soviet Union collapsed many of these tech workers ended up like my grandpa….who was lucky & retired in his mid 60s in the early 1990s to collect his annuity money and his Social Security….

The others weren’t so lucky….these were like the DFENS character in the 1993 film “Falling Down”….some of these guys found work in other industries while a very large portion turned to dope or drink and were forcibly retired to SSDI at say age 50 or took their pensions early etc due to “technological obsolescence”….aka their trades were no longer needed.

In other words, no Soviet threat….no high paying defense or tech or spook jobs…..

Eventually with as Steve noting NAFTA killing Mexico’s labor heavy corn agriculture industry…..those wetbacks suddenly looked norte….and came to work in service, construction, food processing etc

In my area they literally have put 3/4 of the older construction workforce out of business…

The automaters either look outwards at external threats to innovate or automate against….or they automate or “innovate” against internal targets….

    Its what they do…..they automate….

With no Soviet Union left to automate against they became guns for hire & turned their attention inwards…..and thats why throw in China MFN trade status & other such stupidity entire industries in the Midwest and South have been automated and offshored. Textiles in North Carolina offshored to China…..furniture factories in northern Alabama & Mississippi sent to China etc

They’re automating everything they can in the domestic economy from cashiers to truck drivers…..

Then over the course of the 90s & 2000s….we had an influx of Hindu and Chinese tech types who will soon be our tech overlords….

John Keynes famously said “….in the end….were all dead anyway…..”

We need to do what the Japanese have done since 1990 when their stock and real estate markets collapsed…..basically MMT and selling their bonds to give japanese people New Deal type “shovel ready jobs” building roads, dams, bridges etc

I dunno….anybody else have any better ideas?

In a few years it could be a different story, as their economic power may well have peaked and international investors have become bored with large US internet companies. Already capital is shifting towards emerging markets and smaller US companies that have better growth prospects. The effect of this will be to make big tech more cautious about making enemies and getting involved in politics.

What someone apparently never told them is that if you got censored you were probably failing to communicate effectively, and thus you were already censored before it became
official. People who don't realize this lack self-awareness.

The people who can't so that will be impoverished and excluded from civilization. We are witnessing natural selection in action. May the bar continue to rise.

And the GOP will continue its slide into national irrelevance and permanent oblivion. Every normie conservative hates their guts as anyone with a smartphone knows. Georgia was lost to the demographics of mass immigration. Texas and Florida continue their inevitable march toward minority-majority status and progressive multicultural domination as the 2020 Census will show.

None of this really matters. In 2021, only 59% of the population is white. Among the under 15 population, a majority is non-white. Even if everything starts to go right after 2024, the country isn't worth saving.

These kids need to learn not to be racist, which is not what they are learning from their parents’ actions…that’s just a small facet of education. There are a thousand ways to make the woke and progressive upper classes live by their ideals. There is employment, location, partner choice…

A 15% nonwhite America could afford to have the black portion of doctors be AA incompetents at 5% of physicians. They mostly treated fellow minorities, and the merit-based 90% of doctors set the culture. A 50% ( then 55, then 60…) non-white America will not be able to have proportional representation of non-whites in the professions and corporations without significant decline.

That’s happened before. Knights Templar. And the King of France. Remind me again, how did that go?

    Depends on who you ask.

France no longer has a king; the Catholic Church has lost all social power (it can no longer set its opponents on fire); the average Jesuit is about 80 years old.

The KTs still exist, and are still influential.

One day the KTs will get their final objective – when the last Pope is killed, having been forced to squander the entire treasure that Catholicism has amassed over 15 centuries.

That’s the second element of the avenging of Jacques de Molay (the first element was the overthrow of the French monarchy, and the public execution of the officeholder).

    They’re playing a long game.

By ‘KTs’ I don’t mean the US/Masonic KTs, which is basically a LARP. I mean the group whose upper hierarchy has documented direct succession to Godefroi de Bouillon (and de Molay).

  57. I’ve been keeping an eye on Starr County, Texas since an article appeared about its problems with Covid. Since I knew nothing about this county I looked it up. It is the most heavily hispanic county in the US ( 95 %) and its 60,000 people live on the Rio Grande border.

Politically here is what is interesting. I’ll just quote from Wikipedia.

” No Republican has won the county for president since incumbent Benjamin Harrison in 1892 – as of 2020 Starr has the longest streak of voting for Democrats in the entire country. Its streak is currently almost triple the length of Minnesota’s Democratic streak, which began in 1976, as of 2016.[15] In 1988 the county gave Michael Dukakis his highest percentage in the nation.[16] Starr County is one of only 17 counties in Texas that gave the majority of their votes to Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, who received 7,199 votes (74 percent) while George W. Bush received 2,552 votes (26 percent). In 2008, Illinois Senator Barack H. Obama won Starr County with 8,233 votes (84 percent). Arizona Republican Senator John McCain received 1,488 votes (15 percent). In 2020, Donald Trump came within five points of winning the county, receiving 8,224 votes (47 percent) to Joe Biden’s 9,099 (52 percent). This was a major shift from Hillary Clinton’s 60-point margin of victory four years earlier. This happened even as Biden received roughly the same number of votes as Hillary Clinton, who won the county in a landslide.[17][18]”

This has got to scare the hell out of Democrats. If a county that is more Mexico than America ( per capita income of $7,069 ) came closer to voting for Trump than either Bush could have hoped for. What if Trump shows up in Los Angeles in 2022 to campaign against Maxine Waters ( her district is 46% hispanic or Adam Schiff his is 25.7%). Are there seats ‘hispanic proof”?
