Rosita is a Sesame Street character from Mexico, a monster who speaks Spanish and English, but who is being canceled in the latest national moral panic over racism. From Muppet Fandom:
Rosita is a turquoise, bilingual monster who first appeared on Sesame Street in 1991 in Episode 2888 (Season 23). Hailing from Mexico, her full name is Rosita, la Monstrua de las Cuevas (Rosita, the Monster of the Caves). She is five years old, and celebrates her birthday on December 7. She is the second bilingual Muppet to recur on the show (after Osvaldo the Grouch), speaking both English and Spanish.
Rosita has often presented the Spanish Word of the Day, and features frequently playing her guitar, which Luis taught her to do in Episode 3794. She’s very good with history, as well as geography.
Rosita has an extended family which includes an abuela and other relatives. Her dad, Ricardo, served in the military and is in a wheelchair due to injuries related to his service. …
The idea of a bilingual Muppet character for the show was conceived as early as 1990 by Jim Henson, who allowed Carmen Osbahr to pick what type of character it would be. A monster was ultimately chosen, fearing an indigenous animal might be viewed as politically incorrect.
But the Coalition of the Marginalized has a hard time hanging together …
From the Daily Mail:
Attractions and restaurants attributed to the Rosita character have reportedly been closed since the incident
Staff told DailyMail.com that the Muppet has been ‘cancelled’ following the racism allegations
A family have lunched a $25 million lawsuit against the company, with lawyers claiming 25 to 30 more families have come forward …
By EMMA JAMES FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
PUBLISHED: 13:23 EDT, 10 August 2022
… A mother slammed the character as racist after filming Rosita seemingly ignoring her daughter and niece as they reached out to the character during the parade last month.
The two little girls eagerly reached out to the blue character, who was introduced to expand the diversity of Sesame Street, who was seen shaking their finger at them, before allegedly ‘hugging the little white girl’ next to them.
Multiple buildings with the costume character’s face on them have reportedly remained closed since the incident in July, with staff claiming she has been ‘cancelled’.
Rosita’s Cocina restaurant has reportedly been closed ‘for weeks’ despite the busy summer period.
Rosita was one of the only characters who was not included in the daily parade, with staff members adding that the performers were now being told to remain on the floats …
Other stands with the characters face on it were also not open during a visit by DailyMail.com, with staff confirming that Rosita had also been removed from the parade
… Other images of the character have been hidden by the park, with Rosita and Big Bird both being covered with a large purple structure close to a dining hall in the theme park.
… T-shirts, plush toys and various other items were also all on display for the other characters of Sesame Street, but none of the stores had a Rosita section.
The park said they will be including a comprehensive racial equity assessment, and developing and implementing an anti-bias training and education program.
By the end of September 2022 they say that all employees will have received the training to ‘address bias, promote inclusion, prevent discrimination, and ensure all guests and employees feel safe and welcome’. …
In a previous statement the company on Sunday, theme park officials called the now viral moment a ‘misunderstanding,’ saying the mascot likely did not see the girls due to limited vision in the costume’s unwieldy mask.
… The park said the actor portraying Rosita – who was not named – ‘did not intentionally ignore the girls and is devastated about the misunderstanding.’
The statement alleged Rosita was gesturing ‘no’ to another guest who had requested they hold hold their child for a photo, ‘which is not permitted.’
The park also said the mascot likely did not see the girls due to limited vision in the costume’s unwieldy mask, which ‘sometimes make it difficult to see at lower levels’ leading actors to occasionally ‘miss hug requests from guests.’
The only thing encouraging about all this is that the theme park hasn’t yet cast their (likely) minimum wage employee to the wolves yet, but is not revealing his or her identity.
… B’Ivory Lamarr, the attorney for the family who have launched a $25million lawsuit against eth Philadelphia based theme park, previously rejected the firm’s explanation.
During a press conference he called the reason that the actor couldn’t see as ‘bogus’, adding ‘this is not about money’.
They are calling for the performed to be terminated, saying it is the only ‘acceptable action’ that the company can take.
Lamarr noted he has received evidence from 25 to 30 other black families of similar incidents at the Sesame Street-based theme park over the years.
This story reminds me of my hunch from looking at David Rozado’s vast new analysis of a half century of academic and news media articles about who is driving the Great Awokening: Is it the press or academia?
Over the last dozen years or so, it’s been less one or the other, and more angry dimwits on Black Twitter (and other social media communities) leaping to fallacious conclusions, which the New York Times and the Harvard faculty then feel obligated to follow up.

B’Ivory Lamarr? How much of black naming conventions is wanting to see the discomfort of white people as they try to keep a straight face saying their names?
This stuff is stupid. Not just the racial b.s.
Why do you need to expose your children to this stupid shit on TV. (I simply did not allow my kids to watch TV.) And much less why do you drag your kids off to some park–presumably pay admission–to have them see minimum wage teenagers whom they don’t know pretend to be stupid TV characters.
Geez people, your kids do not need this and do not benefit from it.
This reminds me of the (unlicensed) Muppet characters that hang out in Times Square getting their pictures taken with tourists. Ironically the dudes inside are usually Hispanic. I gather that there is some sort of Muppet pimp who supplies the costumes and hires FOB illegal aliens. If you no pay, Elmo beat crap out of you. Often Elmo and the other Elmo will get into territorial fights as to which street corner belongs to which Elmo and Elmo maybe knifes Elmo. Good clean American fun!

Allow me to be a meek voice of reason amongst the chorus decrying Muppet Supremacy. I know this place and let me just say that it’s not a venue that upper middle class whites frequent – likely because its patrons . . . well, over half of its patrons would not pass the “paper bag test.” To say that the Muppets discriminate against black and brown kids would be tantamount to saying “the Muppets discriminate against kids.” I have heard rumors third and fourth hand that the kid in the Rosita costume was of Puerto Rican ethnicity (which actually might lend credibility to claims of racism from my experience).
We should probably coin a word or phrase for blacks’ performative, low IQ and high-profile fixation on about the seven thousandth most important thing that blacks should be worried about (as well as the Press’s credulity and veiled patronizing in going along with it). It’s like the Princess and the pea but the Princess is loud and obnoxious and not very Princess-like at all and the pea probably doesn’t exist . . .

The appropriate response–if you feel the product or service was not to the standard promised/expected–is go ask for your money back.
But the racial shakedown enables so much evil.

“B’Ivory Lamarr, the attorney for the family who have launched a $25million lawsuit ”
I b’predict that b’Mr. LaMarr, a b’2018 law school graduate, will soon run afoul of the attorney discipline authorities of multiple states, fail to properly defend himself, fail to pay the requisite fines and show the requisite remorse, and find himself dis’barred.
His website https://www.bivorylamarr.com/ states his firm is one of “trial lawyers.” It is illegal for firms to misrepresent their size. He appears to be a sole practitioner who seeks to deceive unsophisticated members of the public.
Next, he claims to have “offices” in Wisconsin and Georgia and actively seeks clients in these states. No address in either state is provided, and he is not a member of either state’s bar. This means he is breaking the laws of these states in soliciting legal business.
Next, he paid for a bunch of spammy SEO websites that advertise his firm and brand. These are also illegal in that they are not clearly labeled attorney advertising.
B’Ivory would be subject to the direct bar attorney discipline process in Texas, where he is a member of the bar. He would be subject to criminal prosecution in Georgia, with a handy complaint form here: https://www.gabar.org/committeesprogramssections/programs/upl/uplform.cfm
I don’t think Wisconsin is as likely to do anything about him since he claims to be Jacob Blake’s lawyer and the relevant enforcement people are all Democrats.
Racist Rosita and the black kids is an interesting metaphor for the contentions looming in our future.
Blacks–their slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination!–have been the cudgel that Jews have used to beat whitey and justify, impose minoritarianism. But the huge diversification/transformation of America has been driven by Latin American immigration.
Obviously, i’m not happy with this transformation. I’m turning over to my children an America that is not just ideologically, but genetically and culturally far inferior to what I inherited from my parents.
But birth rates are way down across Latin America. (Latinos are actually modestly capable.) And while there is population momentum and still a few hundred million Latinos who could improve their lot moving to America, it pales behind the numbers of Africans who’d like to escape to the West.
So the political choice before America now is “ambling Latinized mediocrity” (lighter, brighter Brazil) or “disaster” (South Africa).
And a critical question is will the “blackety, blackety, black” stuff annoy enough Latinos that we will put an end to Jewish “nation of immigrants” ideological insanity before it simply destroys America.

Left to their own devices, a black and brown schism could roll out either way that you predict, but add the Asian component and things get a bit more interesting. The Chinese now own billions in US real estate and specifically, huge equities in farming and food production. Most US citizens aren't even aware that China is literally buying the US - with a large portion of our food production - out from beneath them. Senator Tom Cotton just yesterday rumbled about introducing a bill to prohibit foreign ownership of US real estate, but I estimate it to be 'too little, too late.' You see, any effort to prohibit foreign ownership is xenophobic racism, and that's just 'not who we are.'
Your kids - and mine - will someday be working for the Asian component, with blacks and browns still squabbling in the street. So, ironically enough for all of his bitching, it's Derb's kids who will end up running things.Replies: @Anonymous
As long as “civil rights” laws exist this will continue. There’s an entire legal infrastructure funded by billions from the federal government.
It has nothing to do with how actual human beings get along. As long as the Civil Rights industrial complex exists, the lawsuits will keep coming.
It would be entertaining if they made a special episode deporting the muppet, INS raid and all.

This is a scene from “Adventure Time”, for my money the best piece of art produced in this culture in the past twenty years. He wears a crown which gives him magic powers, but which drains some of his sanity every time he uses them, which accounts for his current demented state. Turns out the two have a past together, as the clip will show. Honk if you don’t cry after seeing this.

The country is already at least 18 Hispanic and the number is increasing. Absent illegal immigration Black share of the US population should be increasing instead it’s holding steady. Demography & cash are key to political power. What Latinos lack in cash will be made up in part by sheer numbers. They don’t have White guilt.
I suspect we are at peak Black political power
But I do get the sense that while a lot of conservative folks thought this BLM stuff was racialist nonsense from the start, there are now many more normies who are "over it" on the 24x7x365 black thing, sick of seeing blacks jammed into their TV shows and every commercial. Even many of the yard signers who got their little ego boost from aiming their BLM sign at their neighbors aren't feeling the same frisson and want to be all things progressive and virtuous not just blackety, blackety, black. Most of the yard signs have come down.
My guess is peak black was 2021--maybe even election day 2020.
But blacks, of course, continue to find themselves endless fascinating and important. And want attention. They aren't done.
[Blacks and Jews seem to be people who think their drama is--or should be!--of endless interest and importance to everyone else. Whites, Hispanics, Asians are considerably more normal.]
How this plays out politically, harder to say. But I do think culturally this may have been "peak black."
But again, that depends on a general growing across the board burst of sanity against the Jewish "must have immigration!" diktat. I.e. we need "nativism". If we keep immigrating away for another 100 years, then this joint will creep up 20, 25, 30, 40, 50% black and our descendants will be looking at pictures from 2022 and crying for what was lost.
This is like a novel Tom Wolfe would have written after tripping over a curb and hitting his head on the sidewalk.

The area Sesame Place is in is right off of both I-95 and US-1 and the New Jersey Turnpike (roughly across the Delaware from Princeton, NJ). It’s about a 20-35 minute drive from anywhere in Philadelphia proper, and 90-120 minutes from New York depending upon traffic. Sesame Place is in an outer ring of a sprawling suburban two-story mall built in the early 1970s which has suffered mightily from the decline in brick and mortar retail – it used to have upscale stores like Williams Sonoma but now has multiple vacancies, an “As Seen on TV” store and another store which sells used legos by the piece. (The juxtaposition is evident – the parking lots of its vacant former anchor stores are now a staging area for Amazon’s trailers to break bulk into those Dodge Sprinter vans for ultimate delivery; Amazon clearly “ate” this mall). There are multiple hotels in the mall’s outer ring and nearby if Sesame Place is to be more than a day trip for you.
You’ll see some blacks, but the bulk look to me like Dominicans or Puerto Ricans, and a lot of New York license plates. The Dads look like flabby, shorter Albert Pujols. Sesame Place was last in the news when a black couple from New York was asked by a teen working there to put on masks as was the government mandate at the time, and the husband punched the teen and broke his jaw.
I ask because I recall someone mentioning that, in pre-containerisation days, they called it "bulk piece" due to the fact that many items were painstakingly loaded and unloaded one at a time (or by the pallet at most).
It occurs to me that there’s a reason for this – the person inside the Rosita costume was probably a Latinx. I don’t think that the walkarounds are supposed to talk but they are supposed to interact with the visitors and probably they want a Spanish speaker inside who can understand what is being babbled at them by the park visitors who are delighted to see Rosita como en la television. It would not do to throw a Latinx to los lobos.
BTW, PA minimum wage is $7.25/hr but I don’t think you can actually get people to work anymore for $7.25. Sesame Place says that they are hiring at “up to” $15/hr, which probably means that they shave a couple of $ off of that for new hires, but at minimum wage they would get no takers.

There are a whole bunch of “class action” lawyers now who make their living by suing producers of various things, complaining that, for example, KFC’s “Extra Crispy” chicken is not really extra crispy, just of average crispiness, and that therefore consumers are being deceived by such false and misleading claims. Nominally, you need a named plaintiff for such lawsuits but they just get their secretary or whomever. Basically these suits are extortion rackets – when you get sued you are supposed to “settle” by agreeing to pay the class action lawyers legal fees in order to make them go away. Why this is not criminal, let alone illegal, I dunno.

Sesame Street appeared to be some kind of propaganda campaign to capture the minds of white, suburban kids and convince them that they are not “authentic” – that they are nothing but white-bread squares. It was intended to be a hipper, woker alternative to Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. This and the biking article suggest the real problem is lawyers and activists- in other words we have produced a large population of mediocrities with graduate school degrees who need to make a living. There don’t seem to be enough actual productive jobs available (or these people simply aren’t qualified for those jobs) so we have millions of people creating work for themselves through “activism”, essentially being parasites on the productive part of the economy. All three segments- the media, academia and social activism feed each other. Even “right wing” media like Fox is heavily invested in the whole scam because this is where they get the outrage stories that drive ratings.Replies: @Jack D, @Anonymous
I’ve seen the theory that this was the root cause of the French Revolution. Paris in the 1780s was swarming with unemployed lawyers because all the best legal jobs were held by the sons of aristocrats.
One thing the rest of the Western World has figured out: loser pays legal rules. Of course, Europe has other forms of rent seeking, but at least they have less lawyers.
I suspect we are at peak Black political powerReplies: @anonymous, @AnotherDad
I’m such an outlier, that my personal feelings and immediate circle are pretty worthless.
But I do get the sense that while a lot of conservative folks thought this BLM stuff was racialist nonsense from the start, there are now many more normies who are “over it” on the 24x7x365 black thing, sick of seeing blacks jammed into their TV shows and every commercial. Even many of the yard signers who got their little ego boost from aiming their BLM sign at their neighbors aren’t feeling the same frisson and want to be all things progressive and virtuous not just blackety, blackety, black. Most of the yard signs have come down.
My guess is peak black was 2021–maybe even election day 2020.
But blacks, of course, continue to find themselves endless fascinating and important. And want attention. They aren’t done.
[Blacks and Jews seem to be people who think their drama is–or should be!–of endless interest and importance to everyone else. Whites, Hispanics, Asians are considerably more normal.]
How this plays out politically, harder to say. But I do think culturally this may have been “peak black.”
But again, that depends on a general growing across the board burst of sanity against the Jewish “must have immigration!” diktat. I.e. we need “nativism”. If we keep immigrating away for another 100 years, then this joint will creep up 20, 25, 30, 40, 50% black and our descendants will be looking at pictures from 2022 and crying for what was lost.
Well now we know at least one person who has undergone cardiac removal surgery.
As evidenced in the Paris Commune of 1871 and subsequent revolutions, the brave revolutionaries creating a glorious, new world of liberty, progressive values, etc. eventually turn on each other like rats fleeing a sinking ship. It’s human nature. Nothing new under the sun.
You'll see some blacks, but the bulk look to me like Dominicans or Puerto Ricans, and a lot of New York license plates. The Dads look like flabby, shorter Albert Pujols. Sesame Place was last in the news when a black couple from New York was asked by a teen working there to put on masks as was the government mandate at the time, and the husband punched the teen and broke his jaw.Replies: @Jack D, @Luddite in Chief
Everything you say is correct and add to that that the area between NYC and Philly in increasingly hispanic. For example , Allentown is now majority Hispanic. As real estate values have risen in NYC, Hispanics have been pushed out. Likewise, in N. Jersey, Perth Amboy, Union City, W. NY, Passaic, Elizabeth, Paterson, etc. are all 60-75% Latino.
Oxford Valley Mall is only partly failed – the Sears went out of business and was not replaced. JC Penney hangs on by a thread.
This is a scene from "Adventure Time", for my money the best piece of art produced in this culture in the past twenty years. The girl in the scene is Marceline, a 1,000-year old vampire, and the old guy is the Ice King, a nominal villain who is really just sort of an Alzheimer's patient. He wears a crown which gives him magic powers, but which drains some of his sanity every time he uses them, which accounts for his current demented state. Turns out the two have a past together, as the clip will show. Honk if you don't cry after seeing this.

Thank you Brother . . .
The appropriate response--if you feel the product or service was not to the standard promised/expected--is go ask for your money back.
But the racial shakedown enables so much evil.
As I was saying ....

Not sure about the magic powers bit (does blowing folk off their feet by breaking wind count?), but I would be willing to swear to losing some sanity with each patronising, barely literate news article that implies, “the West is a racist s-hole.”

Is “bulk” what shippers call the merchandise when it is still in the containers that they have put on the trucks?
I ask because I recall someone mentioning that, in pre-containerisation days, they called it “bulk piece” due to the fact that many items were painstakingly loaded and unloaded one at a time (or by the pallet at most).
It’s not about the money, but about getting the money.

Has anyone suggested the SS bunch pay the money to the traumatised, heartbroken, will-never-recover family, sit back for a decent “cooling off” period, then shut up shop and move to some place where they are less likely to have these kinds of problems?
Or would this undermine their business model because their current location is where their target demographic is and there simply isn’t anywhere else they could be profitable?
I grew up in the 70s and there wasn’t as much on tv back then. Sesame Street was something I watched because it was one of the children’s program on the “educational” channel, but I never got into it because it was boring and it didn’t seem relevant to me. The material seemed dumbed down and though I didn’t think about it, there were mostly a lot of non-whites in a big city. Never got into stupor hero crap either. I did like Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom because it was cool watching animals hunt and eat other animals, and Dukes of Hazzard was also a regular show.
Mostly I rode BMX bikes and motocrossers with my buddies, shot BB guns, and read World Book and adventure novels. It wasn’t such an atypical white gen X childhood.
What exactly is so bad about Sesame Street? It attempted to brainwash White children how?

I watched a lot of Sesame Street for about a year when I was about 11. My mother was concerned because why was I watching this little kids’ show? I explained to her that Jim Henson was a genius. I don’t see much reason to alter that opinion now.

We are the same age. I used to love The Muppet Show. Sesame Street, not so much.
Americans used to be wary of allowing foreigners to buy property in their country.

(This is still the attitude towards foreign, especially American, investment in much of Latin America.)
Welp, what exactly is “so bad” about the whole “diversity uber alles” mania? What exactly is so bad about the self abasement and guilt tripping of White children in their own country, and the absurd, excessive glorification of children “of color”?
What exactly is so bad about the normalization and toleration, and often the glorification and celebration, of every aberrant and deviant behavior–drug use, divorce, HIV/AIDS, the LGBYQACXYZ E-I-EI-O “movement”, “tolerance” of crime (the “right” kind of crime anyway), parents in prison (isn’t there an SS character for that, as well? I believe so)
Hey, you say, sesame street is just a reflection of “reality”-that’s what’s out there for kids-drugs and divorce are a part of their lives.
A dog taking a shit is “reality” too. Should we celebrate it?
And 60 years ago, in 1962, no (99%) White kids (much less their parents) did illegal drugs, and almost no White kids lived in homes broken by divorce. That stuff wasn’t “reality” then.
What changed?
sesame street may not have been the direct cause of our nation’s dysfunction, but it has contributed mightily. It’s the spoonful of sugar that makes the shit sandwich taste better.
New Jersey has a minimum wage of $13. Since Arm & Hammer Park is less than 15 minutes from Sesame Place, SEPA must compete with NJ for the same workers.
