From CNN:

West Point is about to graduate its largest class of black women

By Tony Marco, CNN

Updated 7:29 PM ET, Wed May 15, 2019

(CNN) Thirty-four black women are expected to graduate from West Point next week.

That will be the largest class of African-American women to graduate together in the military academy’s lengthy history, West Point spokesman Frank Demaro said.

“Last year’s graduating class had 27,” said Demaro. “And the expectation is next year’s class will be even larger than this year’s.”

Last year, the school appointed Lt. Gen. Darryl A. Williams as its first black superintendent.

In 2017, the academy for the first time selected an African-American woman, Simone Askew, to serve at the top of the chain of command for cadets.

“It makes me feel prideful that the academy is acknowledging diversity,” 2012 West Point alum Shalela Dowdy said.

Dowdy, who said she makes an effort to stay in touch with female African-American cadets to “offer support,” believes the outreach the minority admissions office at West Point is doing is the reason why more minorities are coming to the school.

“There were only 13 in my class, I just counted, but the numbers keep going up and up. It’s encouraging and inspiring to see leaders graduating from the school that are from all different kinds of backgrounds and represent the diversity of the army itself,” said Dowdy.

West Point’s graduating class is seeing diversity in other minority groups. “Also, this year’s class will have the highest number of female Hispanic graduates along with graduating our 5,000th female cadet since the first class of women to graduate in 1980,” said Demaro.

Oh, wow, not just record numbers of black women, but also of Hispanic women too.

The Russians, Chinese, and Iranians must be quaking in their boots.

  1. It’s a real good thing we don’t get into any wars with armed forces our own size.

If we do, I can’t guarantee which side I’ll be rooting for anymore. That’s really sad to say, but true not just for the reasons in this post.

  2. European encroachment into West Africa gained pace during the latter half of the 19th century, and in 1890 King Béhanzin started fighting French forces in the course of the First Franco-Dahomean War. European observers noted that they “handled admirably” in hand-to-hand combat, but that they did not know how to use their flintlocks. The Amazons participated in one major battle: Cotonou, where thousands of Dahoney (including many Amazons) charged the French lines and engaged the defenders in hand-to-hand combat. Despite the compliments given to them by the Europeans, the Amazons were decisively crushed, with several hundred Dahomey troops being gunned down while 129 Dahomey were killed in melee combat within the French lines. The French lost 5 men killed and a few dozen wounded.

Seems to me there’s actually a pretty sensible reason why the US military needs affirmative action, at least by race, on its officers so the officer class matches the enlisted. You have a bunch of white officers ordering black men into harm’s way? Are they going to follow orders? Which way will the guns be pointed? Of course you can shoot them, but a military of questionable loyalty is always going to have problems. Racial division creates a faultline for enemy psyops to exploit (and indeed the Russians did).

Comments from actual military people welcome!

I doubt anyone with any sense would want to be lead by those women. Most of them look out of shape and have that black attitude. Virtually all of them will end up in the support branches. Whites and Hispanics tend to fill out the combat arms.

I remember reading one Vietnam combat book and it discussed how, at least in their unit, they divided the squads up by race. Hispanics in one squad. Blacks were in another. Whites had their own squad.

  39. The US military is a nation-wrecking waste of treasure and blood that is actively attacking the European Christian ancestral core of the United States. The answer to the anti-White US military is to remove and replace a few hundred officers with officers who will advance the interests of Whites as Whites in the USA. General Casey — the White baby boomer scumbag who defended the Ft Hood Islamic terrorist who killed and wounded at least a dozen soldiers — is the type of US military rat who must be removed and replaced.

Magna Carter ain’t about some giant legume called a peanut.

The Magna Carta just celebrated its 800 year anniversary in my favorite year for Twitter of 2015.

The Magna Carta is about some Normans who weren’t so enthused about a large standing army in England that would centralize and gather ever more power in the hands of the sovereign ruler, King Johnny.

The Norman aristocrat nobles didn’t want to be taxed out the arse by King Johnny only to have King Johnny use the noble’s tax money to maintain a large standing army under King Johnny’s command.

The US military is run by treasonous scum who use the power of the printing press and the federal government to borrow trillions of dollars to over-centralize power in the United States.

It is vitally important that patriotic Americans call for the mass firing of hundreds of US military officers who do nothing but attack and destroy the European Christian ancestral core of the USA.

It is the treasonous rat White officers in the US military — such as Ft. Hood baby boomer scumbag General Casey — who are the ones responsible for turning the US military into a power structure solely devoted to attacking and destroying White Core America.

Of the 274 officers appointed to 4 star general or admiral rank from Reagan through Bush 2, nine were black.

Of the 70 appointed to 4 star admiral or general under Obama, 8 were black.

So Obama was far likelier (about 3.5 times likelier) than his predecessors to appoint blacks to 4 star general or admiral. I have no idea what the racial composition of the officer corps is, but I’d wager that blacks were a higher-percentage of Obama’s 4 star generals and admirals (a much higher percentage) than they were of the overall officer corps.

Under Obama obsession with “diversity” in the military appears to have gone into overdrive, even though we were fighting two wars and our concerns should have been more prosaic, like winning those wars and keeping our casualties low.

Veteran of the Mongolian Navy here.

Joking aside: All the Negroes I knew in the navy were cooks, boatswains, paralegals – that kind of thing; administrative assistants and drudges, in other words. There was one air-framer, and he was neither talented nor even motivated – an airman unlikely to ever pass the tests required to become an NCO, if he even stayed in long enough to sit them. If I remember correctly, he only enlisted because a judge had given him military service as an option to avoid incarceration for some petty crime or other (I don’t think this practice for young, directionless men goes on anymore; I have mixed feelings about it, since it tended to either turn the fellow’s life around dramatically, creating an exemplary sailor, or else end in an early discharge after a few months of his being a pain an incorrigible pain in the ass for his command). There was also a shiftless and shifty flight officer who spent most of his time and energy trying to bed young, white, female members of the enlisted air crews. (To his endless disappointment, they were all more interested in white aviators named Chad, call-sign Thundercock.)

N.B. It was not so much that these sorts lacked the courage to do anything dangerous, so much as they lacked the ability to do anything difficult, whether because it required intelligence (nuclear engineering, avionics, etc.) or merely discipline (combat arms). I expect, were they able, many would be more than happy to operate, maintain, or repair complicated equipment at some naval station, or even afloat, but since they did not have that ability, it was slinging hash, chocking chains, and pushing pencils for them.

Not a bad deal, though, especially for the females who spent more time on limited duty (because pregnant) or on maternity leave than in service. It’s a clever avenue to being a welfare-queen yet lauded for bravery and hard work. Civilians just register “Ohhh – she’s in the military!” and praise the person, with no appreciation that military service alone is like finishing a marathon: it can mean suffering and sacrifice to achieve a near superhuman feat in a blaze of glory, but it can also mean limping along, obese and slow, to collect a participant’s medal in six hours (or a fat pension in twenty years). The details mean everything, and none of the women in this photograph is the next James Williams.

I bet the phenomenon is even worse in the air force, navy, and coast guard, by the way; I’d love to see the corresponding photographs and stories from their academies. Particularly telling would be a racial proportions about how many…er…midshippersons?…in Annapolis opt to enter the marines upon commission: I’ll warrant that lot are still awfully blanco….

    I’ll just leave these here:

Not sure if it’s mentioned in the article, but I’d wager that one thing that enables this “record number of black women” is the large number of majority-minority congressional districts, combined with increasing Dem Party obsession with race.

Even if the military itself is diversity obsessed, it doesn’t have to be to end up with greater numbers of black women in the military academies. Admission to them starts with nomination by your congressthing. Since increasing numbers of congressthings are black and/or race-obsessed, a growing share of those nominations will be given out to blacks – especially to black women.

West Point can only admit cadets from the pool that’s been provided, and the pool is chosen by a lot of crazy, race-obsessed congressthings. So this is where we end up.

It’s just another piece of evidence that proves the US isn’t really a country but an empire. You need diverse people to run a diverse empire. This, of course, is extremely dangerous in the long run because there is no natural exit point, no possible devolution back to a nation state from this kind of empire; think Rome. That meas continual war in the present as all these different groups compete to misuse US military power on behalf of their co-ethnics overseas (along with lack of a coherent strategy) and a potential catastrophic collapse at some future point.

Post 1968, the first unwritten rule every single last White in the US Military has learned is:

One Black fine, two Blacks ok, ten Blacks never, ever, turn your back on them for one second. Given the isolation and close quarters, the Navy has by far the worst issues with Black “Sailors”, with the added fun that non-Whites dislike them far worse than Whites, but it is always present.

The reason Nidal Hassan managed to shoot up so many people at Fort Hood was because it had been the scene of multiple instances of Racial Violence, sufficient that soldiers from there, and eventually, every other base, were systematically disarmed to prevent fatal Racial Violence from flaring up. The coverup of Racial tensions in the military is systemic, but not quiet total, and is one of the most pressing reasons why Deep State + Corporate Racialists are moving to sensor the Internet as completely as they can.

http://aavw.org/served/racetensions_riots_abstract03_full.htm is just the tiniest beginning of documentation about the issues involved with Race. Feel free to start searching, just don’t use Google as it will systematically suppress results.

BTW, I have talked to a hundred Vietnam Vets of different experiences, and one of the few common complaints they had was about being constantly hamstrung by the relentless hostility of Black troops in their units, up to and including being shot at by them while under fire from VC\NVA’s. And of course, the whole history of “fragging” is Black soldiers trying to kill White Officers. Any real shooting war, we will be right back to the same shit, only worse because of the further Racial splintering of the US Military.

Someday the US Military is going to get involved in a real, serious, back against the wall fight to survive situation. At that point the soldiers who want to survive will deal with the ones who won’t fight, or more importantly, actively oppose those who do fight. That will get ugly, fast.

I read such arguments before, and superficially they seemed persuasive, but actually blacks rarely serve in combat arms, so this is a bogus reason; while for support troops, probably the only thing which matters is competence (like in a civilian job), and these affirmative action officers are unlikely to be competent. And competence matters for combat officers, too, so while having white officers commanding black soldiers is far from ideal, it’s unclear if having affirmative action black officers would improve the situation. And these are black women – women shouldn’t be in combat arms at all, as they are probably almost completely useless, and affirmative action women officers are thus doubly or triply useless.

So falls the American Empire. And America.

The modern Western world is built on energy, cheap energy, most of it oil and natural gas, and most of that from the Middle East. Its why since FDR in 1944 we have had a policy of propping up the loathesome House of Saud and dominating the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. Its all about oil. And its the real reason we invaded Iraq — to get that oil back on the market. And its why the Russians and Iranians oppose use — they are aging gas stations with not so great militaries that need a very high price of oil to pay for their patronage network internally and maintain power. We have a lot more riches and ordinary White people to tax for gibs for the elite that maintain power and various non-Whites.

ALL of this is built on White men fighting and dying and being far better at killing the enemy than the reverse. Think the Highway of Death, Saddam’s Fall, Stealth Bombers crushing opponents at a whim. And that depends on White men EVERYWHERE: creating the logistics, the technology, the people on the ground, the pilots in the air, even the remote pilots and support staff and satellite launches for someone in Nevada piloting a drone to kill a Yemeni commander who threatens the oil supply in the House of Saud.

At no time and at no place have Africans ever been an effective fighting force save possibly Paul Kagame and the RPF against the shambolic Congolese. Black troops were a disaster in the Civil War, in WWII, in Korea, in Vietnam, and remarkably ineffective against the Plains Indians (the Buffalo Soldiers were a joke in reality).

Killing the enemy in industrial quantities does not depend on Warrior spirit. It is more a dutiful agricultural slog through the killing fields enduring conditions that are unendurable. If one reads Helmet for My Pillow or With the Old Breed (the latter by E.B. Sledge), WWII Marine accounts of the Pacific War, you can understand why Black troops are useless and only White/some Hispanic/Asian troops are capable of enduring the utter misery that is modern industrial warfare. On Pelieliu the Marines had almost no water and could not eat during the day for the flies on the dead and the feces; at night they could not have a fire or cigarette for snipers and mortar attacks. The coral was razor sharp and concrete hard. No place to dig in. The humidity was 95% and the heat was around 100 degrees. Night infiltration attacks by the Japanese were a nightly occurrence.

[The overwhelming majority of combat arms then and now are White men with a smattering of Hispanic, Amerindian, and Asian men.]

    Black women will endure this?

The Iranians and Russians sense our weakness and stupidity of our leaders believing their own BS Multiculturalism. That is what the showdown in the Gulf is all about. With China no longer a cheap-energy ally of convenience of the US they have the ability to make a move. I imagine the future will be one of sky-high energy and the US consumed by tribal warfare. The one thing to remember is that White men are far better than every other racial group at industrial mass warfare. Which is mostly a beta male thing — its why there are so many White beta males.

    SFG,

In the US military, and in like militaries (e.g. UK) the indoctrination process is entirely based on following up in rank, without any personal or racial consideration. Any sort of racialism introduced would be wholly against this process. How is it maintained? As Mr. Sailer has written before, IQ selection plays heavily into it (not so in Vietnam era). Second, rigid indoctrination. Any deviance of what orders you follow based on race or any other criterion is metaphorically beaten out of you.

That said, most enlisted ranks tend to not take the orders of many junior officers seriously in some branches, or not respect them as they are effectively bosses without experience. Look at the many articles in “duffelblog” or the crude comic “Terminal Lance” for evidence of this. If a 2nd Lt makes you do something, you may have to do it while totally disrespecting the person who gave you the order. While I think disrespect for some officers will have a racial correlation, I doubt it would be based on any racialist intent – that would not be permitted.

Now, these 2nd Lt’s in question will not exactly be frontline infantry, and the vast majority will be disillusioned and resign at the rank of Captain. But I guess it makes a good story if the goal of the Army is not to fight and win wars. If that was the Army’s primary goal, why would you need a second Army, the USMC?

“Every fall, the Superintendent addresses the staff and faculty and lies. He repeatedly states that ‘We are going to have winning sports teams without compromising our standards,’ and everyone in Robinson Auditorium knows he is lying because we routinely admit athletes with ACT scores in the mid-teens across the board. I have personally taught cadets who are borderline illiterate and cannot read simple passages from the assigned textbooks.”

“The Superintendent refuses to enforce admissions standards or the cadet Honor Code, the Dean refuses to enforce academic standards, and the Commandant refuses to enforce standards of conduct and discipline. The end result is a sort of malaise that pervades the entire institution. Nothing matters anymore. Cadets know this, and it has given rise to a level of cadet arrogance and entitlement the likes of which West Point has never seen in its history.”

“To make matters worse, the senior leadership at West Point actively discourages staff and faculty from reporting honor violations. l was unfortunate enough to experience this first hand during my first tour on the faculty, when the Commandant of Cadets called my office phone and proceeded to berate me in the most vulgar and obscene language for over ten minutes because I had reported a cadet who lied to me and then asked if “we could just drop it.”

” At the honor hearing the next day, I ended up being the one on trial as my character and reputation were dragged through the mud by the cadet and her civilian attorney while I sat on the witness stand without any assistance. In the end, of course, the cadet was not found (despite having at first admitted that she lied), and she eventually graduated.”

In Korea, the black 24th infantry regiment performed horribly in combat. Many dropped their rifles and fled. Later this was blamed on having mostly White officers in charge of black enlisted men.

The Army deactivated the 24th regiment largely in part to its poor record in Korea. Later in the 1990s, Bill Clinton ordered them to reactivate it at the request of several black vets who felt embarrassed by the regiment’s reputation.

We also had racial tensions in Vietnam. Of course there were other tensions going on too deriving from the anti-war movement, and the futility of serving in that war. Drug use became rampant and so did piss-poor discipline. But adding in the dimension of racial strife was not good.

And it’s not only racial differences that can cause problems. During the Mexican War in ’46, a number of Irish Catholics deserted the mainly Protestant US Army and joined the Mexican Army.

For the most part you want your troops united as much as possible.

I don’t know if they still do this, but the British Army was famous for comprising its regiments of men from certain counties or regions. Now the Paratroops and Royal Marines would recruit nationwide. But units such as the Black Watch would be limited to men from a particular region of Scotland. Many other units like the Welsh Guards and Irish Guards followed similar recruiting strategies.

The goal was to form units of people who grew up in the same locale who might even be friends or relatives. This was thought to increase unit cohesion and Esprit de corps.

The US Army had a similar approach up to the Civil War. And most of the Union units have state names, like the Illinois this or the New York that regiment. After that war the emphasis was put into unifying the various geographic regions of the nation to think of themselves as one people.

During WW1 the 42nd Infantry Division was created by bringing in guard units from NY and Alabama from among other places. Of course their view of the rainbow differed from how a SJW would use it today. A good movie with James Cagney, called the Fighting 69th, describes this well.

Of course we still have regional units today in our National Guard divisions which generally include personal from a couple of states clustered together.

Cadets derisively call it the “I Hate America Course.” Simultaneously, the plebe International History course now focuses on gender to the exclusion of many other important themes. On the other hand, an entire semester of military history was recently deleted from the curriculum (at West Point!). In all courses, the bar has been lowered to the point where it is irrelevant. If a cadet fails a course, the instructor is blamed, so instructors are incentivized to pass everyone. Additionally, instead of responding to cadet failure with an insistence that cadets rise to the challenge and meet the standard, the bar for passing the course itself is simply lowered. This pattern is widespread and pervades every academic department.”

Of course, another idea would be to repeal the SSA altogether. It would be a brilliant idea for Trump to champion the repeal of this act, as the left would instinctively oppose him on it, making them look like the warmongers. Of course it wouldn’t be just to spite Trump they’d want to keep the SSA. The letter was published less than one year after Obama was out of office, and the author was only there a total of about two years while Bush was president; he is a West Point graduate himself from the 1990s. He is, therefore, well positioned to know exactly the difference in culture between then and now. Is there any evidence whatsoever that Donald Trump has reversed any of this? I’m not aware of it if it exists. I am aware, however, of at least one major race hoax occurring there fairly recently, one perpetrated by a disrespectful cadet of the kind mentioned in this article; the cadet in question was also let off the hook by one of the kinds of guys mentioned in this letter (probably put there by Obama).

The military’s many diversity missteps were well known under Obama, from the decay of West Point and affirmative action promotions of blacks to inappropriately passing female ranger candidates by lowering standards and lying to the press about it to promoting female integration, that despite reports showing it lowered readiness. It’s pretty clear where this is coming from, and I doubt it has changed significantly since then. And when the democrat wins in 2020, it will start all over again even if it has.

To be fair the type of military the US has developed at present is perfectly suited for the real missions designated for it by our Imperial rulers:
    1. It sucks up a trillion dollar budget, providing lots of profits and good jobs for the defense contractors and supply corporations. I know people who worked for these contractors, and they had things that are gone from most other corporations: Good working hours, low stress, better benefits and wages than non-defense companies, and crucially, the last real pension plans outside of public sector employment.
    2. Affirmative action jobs both in the military and the defense industry so the beneficiaries aren’t all forced into post office and DMV jobs and can still have automatic promotions and a middle class lifestyle while waiting for their pensions to mature.
    3. Since the military follows orders it is works as a laboratory for imposing the cult-Marxist changes they want to have society-wide. The first racial integration occurred in the military. Affirmative action quotas, openly gay behavior, transsexualism, have all followed by simple fiat.
    4. Capability for rattling sabers and coercing present and prospective subjects of the Empire in order to keep the dollar viable as a reserve currency and the international banks in the saddle.
A military with the world’s finest stand-off attack capability and some elite commando forces, but no credible forces for sustained warfare against a large and motivated enemy are fine enough for that mission.

What I find disquieting is the rumbles that maybe our leaders are pushing for disastrous land warfare with large forces involved. We no longer have the numbers of ground-pounders needed to prosecute that type of war, nor can we get to those numbers while maintaining the quality with the types of personnel pictured in this article and some of the comments. The Americans who would be providing the money and blood no longer have much stomach for prolonged wars with no apparent objective or end.
And yet, I’ve already commented on the change in the Army recruiting ads running on television. They used to feature multi-culti people learning diesel mechanics and IT, wearing combat camouflage despite the fact they staring at computer screens in control centers, and happily congregating and partying off duty. The latest ads instead feature bullet sponges; mostly White fly-over country, bitter clinger deplorables, in real combat, kicking in doors and blowing things up while the ad exhorts you to join up, and you too can be having all this fun.
With Trump we avoided an Iraq 2 regime change war in Syria, but now we are getting more agitation for war against Iran (among others). Is this just intimidation intended to get Iran to modify its policy or does someone in charge really think we might still have the type of military capability and the public support for an actual all-out invasion type war?

My bet is that, to a person, they are there to serve their political masters, to push a radical agenda on the military, and out of sheer vanity. Serving the country is likely the last thing on their minds, just as it’s the last thing on the minds of the people running the country.

Race is irrelevant, officers bear the same relationship to warfare that mayors do to street-sweeping. They’re vaguely aware that somewhere there’s a guy who makes sure that it happens, but they don’t know who he is and wouldn’t begin to know how to do it themselves.

As to the race-specific question, black americans are overrepresented in the military, but underrepresented in combat arms. I served in the Infantry, and it was mostly white hicks and hispanics. I saw more africans in the Infantry than african-americans.

Agreed. But the bomb and bullet division of Elite, Inc. is just letting the head office know what it’s future potential operations requires.

My guess is the standards will be lowered as the vacancies and deployments increase. Between the beginning of the forever wars and the 2008 financial crisis, the military had a difficult time filling boots, so they lowered entry requirements (I think the age limit even went up to 42 at one point) and made liberal use of waivers for criminal convictions, low ASVAB scores and overweight. The recession (depression?) suddenly made potentially losing a limb (or worse) a reasonable gamble in exchange for a steady job, free health care and possibly a pension if you survive 20 years of rotations in and out of sand country. So standards went back up (not quite as high), but there’s nothing in law that prevents that from changing – they are just DoD regulations – could be changed tomorrow with the appropriate signatures.

Foreign students don’t get commissioned in US military after graduation from service academy as a rule. They are paid for either by their own governments or by State Department as part of foreign military assistance to their country.

    https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/2015/05/can-us-military-academies-enroll-international-students

The U.S. Department of Defense administers the Army, Navy and Air Force academies’ international student admissions policy, which is based on strict federal regulations. This policy says that each of these academies may only enroll 60 international students at any one time and only from certain countries. The U.S. Department of State and the Department of Defense select eligible countries on an annual basis. U.S. embassies notify invited nations to nominate a certain number of candidates each year. Upon successful graduation from these military academies, the international cadets will not be commissioned for service in the U.S. military.

The Coast Guard is administered under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and follows a different international student enrollment policy. The admissions process is highly selective. Upon graduation, international cadets are not commissioned for the U.S. Coast Guard; however, prior to enrollment each international student cadet must have their sponsoring country certify that the cadet will serve in that country’s Coast Guard,

And your number is only the tip of the iceberg. It doesn’t includes cadets/midshipperson from foreign military academies attending US service academies on semester exchange programs.

“Women do enjoy dressing up and modeling their cute outfits. These are sort of like the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, but costing the taxpayer more.”

There’s a big movement by the left to dress down females in movies and in video games, including demanding they remove clothing like high heels and makeup. Heterosexual women think that’s nuts, but since the SJW-POC coalition came to power, the feelings of normal people don’t really matter anymore, even if those normal people are your customers. Hence, the latest iteration of Mortal Kombat, a popular game franchise from the 1990s which featured blood and sexy characters, covered up most of its female characters or made them unattractive in the face – something increasingly common these days. They didn’t bother doing the same for many of the male characters who remained quite attractive and revealing, however. The game sold maybe half of the previous, non-SJW, iteration. It’s a mystery* why this is happening. Hm, are heterosexual males not the majority audience for video games or something?

*I’m being disingenuous. It’s well-known that gay men are over-represented in these gaming websites that influence what developers put into games while the large majority of players are heterosexual. These “journalists” and their Twitter allies are the ones leading the charge against revealing women in entertainment, not normal girls themselves who’d love the opportunity to dress their characters up as they wish they were themselves: powerful and attractive. In fact, probably the best and cheapest way to get girls playing any game is to give them this opportunity, which is why many RPGs have noticeably larger female audiences than average, that despite the fact that console gaming is at least 80% male over all. But it’s not about making money for a lot of people anymore, it’s about feeling morally superior while doing it.

“Just ask Tom Kratman what goes on when women are in the military…”

You mean the sci-fi author who married outside of his race? Regardless, he has his own spin on things. The fact is that Cadet women are required to meet the same standards as their male counterparts in academics, leadership, and military development.

“Men have 90% more upper body strength than women, on average, and 60% more lower body strength than women on average, and much greater grip strength than women, on average. No wonder they have to lower the standards for women.”

Not lower standards, just standards that reflect the physical differences between men and women. The criteria remains high. For one thing, it is carefully timed, with limited rest (only three minutes) between the first five events, and a rigid sequence of events. The first event is a kneeling basketball throw (three attempts in two minutes). A max score of 100 points requires men to throw the ball 102 feet while women can max it with a throw of 66 feet. After a short rest, candidates have two minutes to do pull ups (palms forward) from a dead hang. Max is 18 for men and seven for women. Another short rest (three minutes) is followed by a shuttle run-out 30 feet; turn; race back; repeat. Two attempts are allowed in two minutes. Top score is 7.8 seconds for men and 8.6 seconds for women. Next come sit-ups: both men and women need 95 in two minutes to max. After another short rest, pushups loom: men need 75 in two minutes; women need 50 to max. Finally, after an eight minute rest, all candidates run the mile. Men can gain 100 points for a 5:20 effort; women have to make six minutes flat. As all candidates are in competition with at least some other candidates, minimums tend to be less important.

  272. Sure, and thanks, and I don’t mean to be a stroppy cow, really I do not, but I knew most of this stuff and I reckoned something along the lines of the details of what you wrote which I did not know. When I write “What in the Hell are [foreigners] doing at the United States Naval Academy?” I am not literally enquiring about their activity. I know they are studying naval warfare and related matters, participating in politically correKKT exchange programmes, and similar baloney. Rather, my enquiry is a rhetorical device. As when the drill instructor from Full Metal Jacket demands to know “What the fuck is that!?” of Pyle, the instructor knows full well the object in question is a jelly doughnut. He is not seeking this information from Pyle. His enquiry, like mine, is, rather, a powerful way of conveying disapproval of an incontrovertibly vile thing in that 1) he knows damned good and well what it is, but 2) it’s very nature and the obviousness thereof make its presence a baffling abomination such that whoever is responsible for the object is either evil, stupid, or both, and deserves, at a bare minimum, a swift kick in the ass.

The United States Naval academy exists to teach American sailors how to kill people and break things in the defense of the United States of America and to maintain freedom of the seas for Americans. Not to facilitate Cameroonians and Koreans and so on playing at Model United Nations. Such nonsense fosters entangling alliances and the military-industrial complex all the way down, and that the F.U.S.A.’s military does not give a shit for anything George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower had to say about how to operate the U.S.A.’s military tells one all one needs to know.

I used to like most fellow Americans I’d meet, but now, large throngs of them AREN’T Americans, and too many of the rest are “the people of Wal-Mart”.

The problem, Corvinus, is that TOO MANY OF THE REST DON’T CARE! I have for a long time. Too many still just care about their sportsball and keeping that $12/hr job over making any waves or standing up for themselves and fellow white men ONCE in a freakin’ while. They wouldn’t know freedom, especially many of the young people, if it came up and bit them on the ass. What would I be fighting for, even in the political realm?

Even if I were young enough, no way would I join even a favorite branch of this military that goes around bombing the world for democracy, yet disarms its soldiers at home, so a psych officer can shoot ’em up, cause they “didn’t want to make waves” with the guy. Friend, the Confederacy had no money for uniforms. Most just wore whatever clothes they had. Only in 1863 was a standard uniform decided upon formally, but even then that standard was hardly ever met; rather, people used it as a kind of Platonic ideal to which they aspired as best they could, much as on Halloween, any number of children may be recognizable as “Frankenstein’s monster,” but each will be discernibly different in the way he strives to convey the character. It got to where, eventually, it worked well enough. Realise many of these men could not afford shoes and often went hungry.

The general style was not, I think, any emulation of whatever was worn at West Point; it was simply the general style any fighting man would have worn, in any army, much as during the late eighteenth century most European soldiers, of any nation, wore coats with tails, breeches, stockings, etc. Likewise for the coats and kepi hats of the soldiers during the War of Northern Aggression. (In fact, confederates were more likely to wear slouch hats than kepis.)

Grey was chosen when a standard finally was adopted simply because it was cheapest to dye cloth grey. I don’t know that Lee had anything to do with such matters, though he may have. (He had a lot of more pressing things on his plate, but he was the kind of man who would stoically accept infinite responsibilities, and may well have decided more uniformity was important, or provided an opinion if asked about such things.

(I’m knowledgable about this stuff, but I’m no expert; I welcome correction or clarifications by those who know better; it would not surprise me if Steve’s readers probably include professors of history who’ve written doctoral dissertations about the war….)

I doubt any of them could make a practice-squad cut today without adding 30-40 lbs a man.

The tradition of grey uniforms for the United States Military Academy goes back to the War of 1812’s Battle of Lundy’s Lane, when some units went into action wearing their older grey uniforms instead of the blue uniforms usually worn by Army regulars. I think that the grey worn by the Corps of Cadets is the only grey uniform in the U.S; military.

Race is irrelevant, officers bear the same relationship to warfare that mayors do to street-sweeping.

You apparently spent some time in AfPack Dolby Theater.

The Grammys disrespect The Black Community during Black History Month by announcing a Jennifer Lopez Motown tribute

( Authored by West Point graduate and US Army Cpt. Shalela Victoria Dowdy )

I feel like there’s always that time of year where Hollywood annoys me and wants to test my gangsta as a Black Woman in America.

One of the things that Black People in America can be proud of is our many contributions to the American society from literally building America on our backs, to inventions and to our awesome music that others love to try to steal and claim they were inspired by it.

We really have been out here simply killing the game music wise for decades and blazing the paths for others to follow upon.

Recently it was announced that Jennifer Lopez would be doing a Motown tribute during the 61st Annual Grammys Awards Show (Recording Academy).

I am so confused yall, like why is this even a thing.

Out of all the phenomenal BLACK artists that we have on the scene we going with JLO.

Seriously we are going to partake in disrespecting our Motown living legends in such a horrendous manner.

Smokie Robinson, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, the last of the Temptations, and the other living Motown legends did not ask for this disrespect.

When I think of Motown I think of soulful ballards.

Ballards that shake me to the core and voices that soothe and move me and JLO does not possess that ability.

I am sorry but let us not fake the funk.

Look JLO is a great actress, she’s a beautiful woman, she got a few dance moves, and has an amazing body but she cannot accurately pay homage paying homage to our MoTown greats.

Grammy folks why didn’t yall ask Beyoncé come on now.

What happened to Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, Ledisi, India Arie, Patti Labelle, John Legend, H.E.R. Hell Cardi B at least claims Afro Latino she would be better ( lol ) I’m playing yall I’m playing No Cardi B in this one.

What JLo should have done was gracefully stayed in her lane, declined and pointed whoever asked her to the direction of the capable BLACK music artist who can actually pull this Motown Tribute off.

Her choosing to accept this performance shows how she does not respect the BLACK community our roots and our heritage.

The disrespect that’s about to be shown towards the BLACK community during black history month should not be tolerated.

I am so tempted to boycott the Grammys if they let this performance happen.

Every year its something controversial concerning the Grammys and disrespecting black people.

I will still never get over Beyoncé being snubbed album of the year TWICE.

Therefore, my deciding factor will be if I do not see Beyoncé on the red carpet I’m not watching the Grammys,

    POINT BLANK PERIOD.

If the Queen Boycotts so will I.

Yo Grammys yall need to fix this Motown Tribute RIGHT NOW

The academy had a purpose in 1850, nowadays, I’d argue not so much. I knew several older officers who were told back in the day because they weren’t academy graduates, they wouldn’t make colonel or general. Apparently receiving a free education at one of the most esteemed universities on the planet followed by the guarantee of lucrative and prestigious employment with a generous pension and early retirement is just another job Americans won’t do….

The United States Naval academy exists to teach American sailors how to kill people and break things in the defense of the United States of America and to maintain freedom of the seas for Americans.

From USNA alumni I know, the one they were most suspicious/objectionable the exchange students from the Enemy, USMA/West Point cadets, doing their semester in Annapolis, spying on the football practice field.
    https://www.usna.edu/Academics/Special-Programs/SAEP.php
So they do also teach Soldier/Airmen/Coast Guard/Strategic Sealift Officers beside Sailor/Marines, already.

Most of the teaching about “how to kill people and break thing” happened after they graduate and got their commission, not at the academies, regular universities with mandatory ROTC participation. Even at that stage, it’s not uncommon for US Navy to “sell” training slots to foreign military/state department.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Naval_Aviation

Carrier-borne pilots of the French navy do their initial training at Salon-de-Provence Air Base after which they undergo their carrier qualification with the US Navy.

From what people who were there in Pensacola, it’s all integrated. French naval aviators in the same classrooms with USN aviators. Once in a while, they are French instructor pilots teaching both USN and French students. There are regular exercise to for cross deck operations: USN F-18 operate from Charles De Gaulle, French Rafale operate from USN Nimitz class. French wouldn’t had brought E-2 Hawkeye without access to USN aviator training pipeline.

Under current arrangement, the US General/Admiral in charge of the Combine Force Command will command RoK armed force during wartime. USNA admission follow those pre-existing entangling alliances, not the other way around.

West Point was originally built by Kościuszko, while the Continental Army being trained/organized by the like of Baron Von Steuben and Marquis Lafayette. Follow that tradition, USMA/USNA/USAFA each have about a dozen foreign military officers among their faculties. For example, from a google search, this guy.

Couple of points. First, you named three officers, none of which are american, and none of which served more recently than WW2. Don’t be obtuse.

Second, officers are the people who put people in for medals, and also approve them and so unsurprisingly get a disproportionate number of medals compared to enlisted men. Do you really think that the most heroic efforts at Rorke’s Drift were made by a Major?

Let me tell you a tale of a US Army Major getting his Bronze Star for Valor. What happened was, he’d gotten a Bronze Star, but they couldn’t justify the V, because he’d never left the FOB in three deployments. So, my unit was detailed to take him to a conference in another FOB with some local chiefs. Forty minute’s drive, in convoy. I was his vehicle TC. The major heroically and with great honor sat in the back seat of my Humvee for forty minutes without once shitting himself, swallowing his own tongue or passing out while we transported him like a sack lunch from one safe zone to another. Completely without incident. That’s a “V” device for the old Bronze Star if you’re an officer.

Any officer points to their medals, I laugh. I’m nothing special as a grunt, but if any officer had my combat experience, he’d be stacking Medals of Honor like cordwood.

Junior officers are luggage. They suffer relatively high casualty rates because they are forced to be in the field once in a great while, and can’t find their own ass with two hands and a flashlight.

Let me break this down. Field command is done mostly by sergeants and staff sergeants. Once in a while, a platoon sergeant will command a larger action. On ninety-five percent of missions I’m familiar with, there is no officer at all. Only on major missions will an officer be in the field, and they’ll glue themselves to a radio and talk to other officers the whole time.

But yes, officers can suffer casualties, usually because they are incredibly stupid and incredibly incompetent. Enlisted infantrymen aren’t known for their intelligence, but I’d take the stupidest boot private over an educated officer any day. Some things are so stupid you need a college degree to believe.

War story time, the only officer casualties I saw. A line company had a change of command in country, so the outgoing captain decided to do a joint patrol with the incoming captain, show him the ropes, etc. It was the outgoing captain’s first patrol, ever. The patrol moved to the nearest town, set up a checkpoint, and then the captains decided that while their soldiers checked vehicles and pulled security, they’d take their interpreter and wander around town, talk to the locals. NCOIC tells them that’s not the best idea, best stay with the command. They order him to stay put, and off they go. No sooner are they clear of the fields of fire of their soldiers than someone detonates an IED, killing both of them. You can say they were casualties of war, but I say they were casualties of immense idiocy and arrogance.

You’re crazy. You don’t have any idea what defeat in war means. Victorious enemies do not, as a rule, try to put you back on your feet; only the US does that, and we wouldn’t have fought this war against the US!

The most likely outcome of a defeat is that our enemy would impose a new order here that guarantees we don’t get back on our feet and ever again pose a challenge to them. And the best way to do that would be to accelerate the third-worldization of America.

  335. @Corvinus

Where did you find those physical fitness standards?

  336. @ben tillman

I don’t know what the “liberators” thing even refers to.

Yes, that is abundantly evident. Perhaps better to stick to subjects with which you enjoy at minimum a passing familiarity.

  337. @ben tillman

Bureacracies move slowly if at all. It is of course fashinable for institutions located in DC to identify as “left” of some flavor these days, although merely anti-Trump usually suffices. It does not follow that their mindsets have changed since the Cold War. Many are still fighting Vietnam or the KKK.

  338. @Corvinus

“Just ask Tom Kratman what goes on when women are in the military…”

You mean the sci-fi author who married outside of his race?

Ahhh, got it. You are a racist who engages in ad hominem attacks.

Regardless, he has his own spin on things.

And he was a Lt Colonel in the US army who has combat experience.

The fact is that Cadet women are required to meet the same standards as their male counterparts in academics, leadership, and military development.

Nope. There is enormous political pressure to get women into leadership positions in the armed services, so they will be held to a lower standard.

And we have seen the results of that political pressure.

  339. @Corvinus

    More bullshit from Corvi:

“Which means different – lower – standards for some because men and women have different average upper body strengths, among other things (bone fracture propensity, ligament injuries, stamina … ).”

Different, not lower. Applicants still must meet the prescribed standards.

Now that Democrats believe it is OK for transgender females (ie, males pretending to be female) to compete in female events, the same should apply to military academies …

The standards will have to change, though.

Different, but equal. Didn’t the courts reject that idea when they ordered desegregation?

My active duty time ended decades ago, but pushing women and blacks up the officer ladder was already in full swing.

“Not lower standards, just standards that reflect the physical differences between men and women. The criteria remains high.”

Your naive belief that written standards are actually adhered to is just adorable.

  342. TWS says:
    @Corvinus

You fool only the minimums matter. The minimums have to let women pass at four fifths the rate as men. That’s why physical tests are wildly different. Women simply can’t do the jobs men do. The statistics prove it, evidence proves it, experience proves it.

Women cannot pass ranger standards, police, fireman, any male standards without the standards being lowered to meaninglessness. Most men can pass the women’s standards. Virtually all women fail at the men’s standards.

Your problem is not that you’re ignorant, simply you know too much that isn’t true.

I guess I’ll have to update my long held position that the military is welfare for whites.

The only thing that kept blacks out of the military was the military IQ tests, and the enforced discipline.

Once word gets around that that shit is out the window, as well as the easy payday, we finna see big black momma’s lining up to defend our nation’s interests!!

That would be the Alt Right who espouse this anti-race mixing rhetoric. You need to talk to them about their “attacks”.

Indeed. Similar to what blacks had to experience. Are they not citizens?

You can of course make a case that flintlocks are more useful, or at least more reliably functional, for a primitive society.

Run out of brass ammo, which you can’t make yourself, for your Mauser and you’re just screwed.

Many primitive peoples can make black powder, cast lead balls and deal with the locks of a flintlock.

The situation has certainly changed in the 25 yrs since my son applied to one of the service academies. He received the Congressional nomination, which was basically granted after sitting down with the Congressperson’s local committee and having an interview, very friendly. The catch was that the boy did not have stellar math grades, altho’ he aced many physics classes at his excellent private h. s. The academy did NOT send out the acceptance/rejection letter until the very last batch went out in May. We had forced him to apply to a bunch of “safety” schools and he got in to most of these. But the letter from the academy turning him down said they had limited waivers for eyesight (he was starting to need glasses) and that his academic record showed he would be at risk in the various required engineering courses. After a couple of years at a good private college, he said screw it and enlisted in the USMC. Four + yrs later he got out, had several meritorious commendations, graduated from a great state university magna cum laude with distinction in military history; followed up with MBA. All’s well. He’s one of the DoD contractors now;-)

Hope Lakeesha is being forced to hew to the same academic/physical standards! Would love to see a photo of the recent African American MALE cohort at West Point. Hope there are at least an equal # of boys in the academies as females. Recent years at the liberal arts colleges have seen a real decline in the male populations. Guys of any color just don’t want to put themselves through all that.

It’s a feature not a bug. A recent survey of non-white servicemen indicated they considered it a correct use of their power to kill “alt right” whites due to alleged white suprematism.
