My suspicion is that the authorities decided a long time ago to ixnay reporting by race during epidemics to avoid Stigmatizing the Marginalized. But now …

From the Associated Press via The Mainichi:

US Democratic lawmakers call for racial data in virus testing
March 31, 2020 (Mainichi Japan)

(AP) — Democratic lawmakers are calling out an apparent lack of racial data that they say is needed to monitor and address disparities in the national response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a letter sent Friday to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, both from Massachusetts, said comprehensive demographic data on people who are tested or treated for the virus that causes COVID-19 does not exist. Over the weekend, cities with large black and nonwhite Hispanic populations emerged as new hot spots for the spread of the virus.

“Any attempt to contain COVID-19 in the United States will have to address its potential spread in low-income communities of color, first and foremost to protect the lives of people in those communities, but also to slow the spread of the virus in the country as a whole,” the lawmakers wrote to Azar.

“This lack of information will exacerbate existing health disparities and result in the loss of lives in vulnerable communities,” the letter warned.

Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey and Rep. Robin Kelly of Illinois also signed the letter. It was shared exclusively with The Associated Press on Monday….

“Decades of structural racism have prevented so many Black and Brown families from accessing quality health care, affordable housing, and financial security, and the coronavirus crisis is blowing these disparities wide open,” Warren said in a statement. “We need the government to step up in a big way to ensure that communities of color have equal access to free testing and treatment. Congresswoman Pressley and I aren’t going to let up until we see solid data and real progress.” …

U.S. cities with large black and brown populations such as Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and New Orleans have emerged as hot spots of the coronavirus outbreak. New York City remained the national epicenter of the outbreak, reporting more than 36,000 confirmed cases and 790 deaths on Monday. …

In the letter, the U.S. lawmakers cited chronic health conditions and health care access disparities between white people and people of color “that experts have identified as risk factors for complications from COVID-19.” According to the CDC, black and nonwhite Hispanic adults are more likely to be obese and are more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than non-Hispanic white adults are. Asthma is more prevalent among nonwhite adults and children, the lawmakers noted.

People of color and immigrants are also less likely to be insured, leaving many without access to quality health care providers, the lawmakers said.

“Furthermore, a history of discrimination and marginalization has left some people of color distrustful of the medical system, making them less likely to seek out timely care,” they wrote in the letter.

On Friday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported that about half of the state’s deaths and total cases were in Milwaukee, a city of 600,000 residents that is more than a third black. All eight people who have died from the coronavirus in Milwaukee County were black, and seven of them lived in the city.

So the emergency room isn’t quality health care? Is that because so many black doctors work in the emergency room?

Honestly, one of the scariest things about covid is the disproportionate number of black doctors (and nurses) shown on news reports when they do those “on the scene” reports from hospitals. Maybe news shows deliberately veer towards the dusky in a sort of Land’s End catalog-style affirmative action? I want a doctor “who looks like me,” or like my Asian or Jewish doppelganger.

I have a relative who works in a state-run hospital that has implemented screening for every person entering the building. Everyone has to answer three questions about symptoms and have their temperature taken. She tells me that every day they have to call security because one or more of the African-immigrant nurses refuse to cooperate with the screening.

The median age of African Americans is 31 while the median age of whites is 45. Whites are More likely to be over the age of 70 than Non-Whites.

Due to the age demographics of Americans we should expect 79% of the deaths to be whites, with 12% of the victims Black. Although Blacks are more likely to be obese and have other health issues , Whites are more likely to be old than Blacks.

Not just that. Think back to the early days of this. "Hug an Asian," etc. Remember how worried people like Liz Warren were that Asians would be stigmatized given the Chinese origin of COVID-19? Can you imagine what racial statistics would have looked like when this was mostly being spread by people traveling from Asia and their local social network?
  7. First it’s going to be be, “You’re testing fewer blacks because you’re racist and don’t care about the health of black bodies.”

"In the run-up to the housing collapse, mortgage banks were not only offering unsustainable deals but actively prospecting for victims in poor and minority neighborhoods," writes O'Neil. Well, yes, that's what the government wanted them to do! … And then, after the crash, sued them for having done. With the feds, you can't win.

Programs for social justice, including O'Neil's, rather frequently display this damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't, aspect. Here was Jesse Jackson complaining in 2012 about under-policing in poor Chicago neighborhoods: "More police have been dispatched to neighborhoods where the murders have spiked, but citizens there still aren't protected as well as our … uptown businesses are."

On the other hand, [Cathy] O'Neil [author of Weapons of Math Destruction]grumbles that policing algorithms like New York's Comp-Stat and Los Angeles's PredPol send too many cops into poor, crime-prone neighborhoods.

    Absolutely.

It will also be interesting to see how much white people realize illegals are taking precedence over grandma, which will be somewhat possible to extrapolate (once they try to hide it) by how much effort, and /or reported results, of health care access/opportunities are provided to illegals, as studied after this is all over. If dems parade the many successes of providing health care to illegals--that will make it clear. Not sure how they will walk that fine line.

Will there be anyone who concludes, they put illegals from another country over American men and women?

It’s bizarre that they’re obfuscating the fact that they’re referring specifically to black folks. Mexicans will head for the emergency room if their kid gets the sniffles. Every nurse I’ve ever met would agree that poor Hispanics are the Woody Allen’s of the Southern Border.

They love trying to gain admittance to emergency rooms for clearly non-emergencies. It’s the constant, wing-flapping albatross of all southern california hospitals: Mexican hypochondriacs. Especially with their kids.

What I don’t get is why they try to hide that’s it’s the poor dumb black folks who resist the emergency room in a timely fashion. Maybe it’s harder to create public sympathy for willful dumbassery by folks who’ve been known to work against their best interests as a cultural habit.

Anony, Buffalo is at least 50% black and the largest hospitals, Buffalo General, Erie County Medical Center, Roswell Park Cancer Center and Oshei Women and Children are basically in the inner city. All are on bus lines. For this event most doctors are not seeing patients, so hospitals are the default option. Oh, and bus rides are currently free. Free lunches for all children too. Just threw that in there.

Is Henrietta Lacks the female Emmett Till?

Dr. Lisa Cooper, who leads the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity [and who happens to be black], said many people of color have fears about the way they will be treated by hospitals. The story of Henrietta Lacks, a black woman whose cells were collected for research without her permission or knowledge, is ubiquitous in Baltimore.

Ooooh, they “fear” the hospital, since they might not be compensated for their medical waste. How scary!

I think this really resonates with blacks because they imagine getting boatloads of money for doing nothing but letting someone swab their throat or take a blood sample. And since the model would be akin to royalties or licensing, the money would come monthly in perpetuity, so they don’t have to worry about stupidly spending it all, not investing it or investing in something stupid, and ending up broke like a former black NFL star.

    , @Forbes
That's curious as I just learned about Henrietta Lacks yesterday. She died in 1951, after a bout of cervical cancer for which she ultimately refused a treatment protocol. In the course of her diagnosis, cell samples were taken, and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) was discovered.

Also discovered, the cell line created from the cell samples (named for her as HeLa) are immortal, as they don't experience cell senescence as human cells had previously, normally dying after a few days.

Medical treatment practices in the '50s didn't have the elaborate consent forms people regularly sign-off on today. It's a hoax to say that no consent was given, as she visited the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, and by all accounts was attended to with the standard practices of the day. Only in light of today's practices can one say no consent was given--making all previous medical practices, by today's standards, as without consent.

The controversy results from the discovery of an immortal cell line. Otherwise, as cell samples naturally died, there'd have been no issue to raise.
  13. I’m amazed how nastily partisan the Democrats have gotten during this whole pandemic. I mean plenty of Republican leaders are being stupid, but not in such a brazenly partisan way. But Democrats and their accomplices in the media are doing everything they can to criticize, attack, and even undermine the administration’s response. Not even in a time of pandemic or war is this country capable of being unified again.

Home brewing supplies are still hard to find though. As the women head for the kitchen, the chaps are heading for the garage or shed.

Stanley Crouch prefers "Negro" or "colored," first, because he's a trouble-maker, and second because the former is “majestic” due to the accomplishments of the people so describes, and the latter able to encompass a range of skin tones “so undeniably epic,” as he writes here about the residents of Harlem in the days of Charlie Parker:

The skin tones of the residents rambled the gamut, inspiring the Negro people to say of their race that it was like a flower garden, including “everything from lily-white to blue-black.”

  30. The average black, sadly, is unbright. The average mestizo is a little smarter and therefore able to exploit white weaknesses better.

Most whites do not deal with the unemployable and incorrigible sixty or so percent of blacks firsthand enough to not be misled by the combination of constant news, edutainment, and showbusiness propaganda coupled with the somewhat better performance of most of the blacks they do typically interact with and therefore do not understand just how dysfunctional much of the black population is. Half of all blacks are below 85 IQ. Roughly one-sixth of blacks are equal or above the average white IQ, and the next sixth or so down are below that but still somewhat employable.

The failure to demonstrate Black and Brown victimhood will be further evidence of whitey keeping them down discrimination and prejudice. Data collection and analysis efforts were faulty or substandard. Structural racism meant Blacks and Browns were intimidated, and not cooperative, and therefore not counted or properly surveyed, et cetera, etc., ad infinitum.

All such alleged shortcomings--which can't be disproved, can't prove a negative--ultimately result in a jobs program for Blacks and Browns for the purpose of "equity" in health care services in all kinds of seat warmer and time-serving positions. It's the natural course of our "liberal" politics.

So the emergency room isn't quality health care? Is that because so many black doctors work in the emergency room?

Honestly, one of the scariest things about covid is the disproportionate number of black doctors (and nurses) shown on news reports when they do those "on the scene" reports from hospitals. Maybe news shows deliberately veer towards the dusky in a sort of Land's End catalog-style affirmative action? I want a doctor "who looks like me," or like my Asian or Jewish doppelganger.

Housing and financial security come down partly to the fact that schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders are so prevalent among blacks, lifetime one in five or so, added to the fact that half of blacks are effectively unemployable, in the sense that the military won't even take them. Still, the government supplies housing, medical care, and living expenses even to these people.

By the way, "Brown" is now capitalized, along with "Black" and "Indigenous"?

“Furthermore, a history of discrimination and marginalization has left some people of color distrustful of the medical system, making them less likely to seek out timely care,” they wrote in the letter.

Does this mean that all of our ERs will no longer be jammed with latinos and their endless supply of babies and overweight children? Didn’t think so.

True, and these factors may well cancel one another out. But if you’ve ever been behind an American Negro in the checkout line at the grocery store, you may be amazed at the sheer amount of junk food it’s possible to cram into a single cart.

    • Replies: @Jack D
The real payoff is when it comes time to pay for all that crap and they whip out their food stamps card. Any time you see the piled high cart like that, you just know that they are on food stamps. When I used to shop in West Philly, it was rare to see a black person pay with their own money and if it was an obese black woman with a pile of junk food, never.

The US government makes us pay twice for all of this - first they subsidize all that obesity and then we have to pay for their diabetes treatment and other health care expenses. Agribusiness loves it, the health care providers love it. The actual health of the black community - no one gives a damn. Food stamps should be limited to purchasing healthy foods and not all of this processed crap.

  39. Fair enough, break out all the data by race and ethnicity. Just remember that the census folks consider most Hispanics as white but gives them an ethnic option. There is another white ethnic group whose data should also be broken out who seem to be disproportionately involved in the domestic spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and whose members in Lakewood, NJ, New Rochelle and Brooklyn, NY are still violating quarantine requirements. Let’s see their data too.

My daughter has a good friend who is an Orthodox Jew living in Brooklyn. Before her friend became Orthodox she was an EMT. She is completely put out by her co-religionists’ refusal to maintain safe social distance. They still meet, have weddings, kiss the rabbi’s hand, etc. Some of the rabbis are teaching that the virus is a sign of the Messiah and that Jews will be protected from the disease. It was Orthodox from New Rochelle who infected people in Kansas City and at CPAC. So yeah NYT, it’s evangelicals who are responsible for the spread of the virus.

I wonder how many Jews will be treated at Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse emergency treatment tent facility in Central Park? Probably more Jews than evangelicals.

I’m grateful for the disproportionate contributions in medical research made by high IQ Ashkenazi Jews. There’s no doubt that Jewish doctors and researchers in NYC will help to beat this thing; but they are not the whole story.

If you are talking about Hasidic Jews who are still spreading Chinese Virus, very few. They mostly live in Brooklyn, not in Manhattan. Jews in Manhattan are mostly goodwhites who wouldn't dream of attending a crowded wedding nowadays.

Jews in America are increasing two completely different and distinct groups that no longer even interbreed with each other. One group is extremely liberal, the other is extremely conservative. A secular Jewish biomedical researcher has much more in common with his Asian, WASP, Italian, etc. co-workers (and is much more likely to marry one) than he does with a Brooklyn Hasid. At this point, the two groups should be called by different names so that it is clear we are not talking about the same people anymore. We might not ever get around to doing this because the non-Orthodox group is going to melt into the general population in a couple of generations and is not going to exist at all.

  42. You were writing before the virus was racist, he loved asian more than white and he absolutely hated blacks.

It was probably a conjunction of anthropomorphism and self-projection on your part. Attributing a personality and intentionality to things, a fortiori living things, is a good ways to figure out how they behave.

You shouldn’t be too disappointed if the virus has exactly the opposite preferences and is more of a chocolate queen preying on blaxk daddies.

  43. Actually racial data could be useful in a place like, say, Italy where a very large Chinese population had who knows how many people come back from China after Chinese New Year as the virus was starting to sink its claws in.

Well, the "Made in Italy" on the label as described in the New Yorker article, is cheap, low-end retail apparel. Even "moving up" to Guess or American Eagle is not the status/fashion conscious consumer looking for "Made in Italy" apparel. The brand still says "cheap."

Yet the center of the WuFlu in Italy is Lombardy, and then Veneto, not Tuscany. While yes, there are 2-300,000 Chinese in Italy, and while Chinese returning from the Lunar New Year are a likely vector of infection, how many laborers sewing apparel can afford to fly to China for the New Year?

Also, the reporting between the two articles is suspect. The New Yorker says there were 20,000 Chinese in Prato in 2018, while the Reuters article has 50,000 in 2020. One or the other seems unlikely.

Japanese television sets and VCRs were made so they would run without repairs long enough that by then there were no more parts. That put the repair places out of business. Cars with computer electronic fuel injection and distributor less ignition caused service stations to pull out their shops and become convenience stores. EPA refrigerant laws mean mom and pop refrigerator guys largely just quit. After the first few years, no one bothered to even try to fix computer monitors or much else in computers to the component level: no parts, no schematics, and surface mount scared the old guys off.

Since Biden is clearly falling to pieces in front of our eyes, Warren is trying to stay relevant in the hopes that Biden drops out for “health reasons” and a brokered convention opens up a shot for her. I guess her plan is to keep the most fervent lunatics on her side — the uber Woke AOC types — hoping they can steamroll all the old Jews, old gays, and old gay Jews that otherwise control what happens in the Democrat party. A fierce and concerted attack at a point of weakness — it’s impossible to criticize black and brown folk — might be enough to turn the tide against the big wallets that normally call the shots.

Warren is a detestable, pandering shill for the white genocide crowd, but she’s no dummy.

  59. There is no winning in this issue, even though collecting racial data could be useful. If blacks are disproportionately affected no attention will be paid to behavior that might have contributed to it. If they are a smaller percentage of the victims then attention will be paid to how many lost jobs or were ‘justice involved’ due to lockdown orders compared to whites. In my city it appears murder is down, although it is still occurring amongst the usual suspects.

The way I see it, we need to create a society for everyone while engaging in a slow, calm and measured eugenics program. This needs to be paired with strong protectionism so that the likes of the Chinese cannot flood our markets with their cheap crap.

The job of a government should to ensure the greatest happiness for the greatest number of its people, I do not see that happening with a more technologically advanced society where the people are idle physically and mentally.

The very wealthy would not get wealthier. And they control things.

Did any of this improve our existence? No. But stuff was cheaper, except for cars.

First it's going to be be, "You're testing fewer blacks because you're racist and don't care about the health of black bodies."

Then when this actually starts affecting blacks disproportionately (which is a not unlikely possible future) it'll be, "Your testing too many blacks because you're racist and are trying to create social stigma and increased policing of black bodies."

“In the run-up to the housing collapse, mortgage banks were not only offering unsustainable deals but actively prospecting for victims in poor and minority neighborhoods,” writes O’Neil. Well, yes, that’s what the government wanted them to do! … And then, after the crash, sued them for having done. With the feds, you can’t win.

Programs for social justice, including O’Neil’s, rather frequently display this damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t, aspect. Here was Jesse Jackson complaining in 2012 about under-policing in poor Chicago neighborhoods: “More police have been dispatched to neighborhoods where the murders have spiked, but citizens there still aren’t protected as well as our … uptown businesses are.”

On the other hand, [Cathy] O’Neil [author of Weapons of Math Destruction]grumbles that policing algorithms like New York’s Comp-Stat and Los Angeles’s PredPol send too many cops into poor, crime-prone neighborhoods.

Your stuff (and Steve's) has been a big part of my starting to get a clue on "social justice" issues around seven years ago.

I'd had some inkling that the mainstream views were unlikely or seemed misguided but having various aspects documented and explained has been great. It's been extra helpful since this is a thread of thought that the mainstream narrative (in media and academia) combats more by obscuring and ignoring it than attempting to refute it.

What scares me about her is that she is actually highly competent and ambitious. She has gone very far in life from her humble, deplorable type beginnings, all as a self-made person. If her politics were not so Leftist, I would actually admire her as a person. Most women in her generation with her background (which she truthfully describes as teetering on the lower edge of the middle class) would have ended up as homemakers or secretaries or (if they were ambitious) as elementary school teachers (this was her original career goal). But she kept on climbing the ladder higher than you would have thought possible. At some point, she dropped out of college to get married and for some women that would have been it. But no, she went back and got a degree as a speech pathologist. For most people that would have been it - you have a professional degree, you get a job and leave it at that. But no, she went back to law school, and so on and so on - she climbed far beyond the point where most people would have stopped.

Since so much of what the Left implements is destructive, you'd rather have it implemented by an ineffectual clown - they cause less damage that way.

At this point the best strategy is to just ignore, ignore, ignore. Don’t give people like Warren and Harris the platform they are looking for.

I'm amazed how nastily partisan the Democrats have gotten during this whole pandemic. I mean plenty of Republican leaders are being stupid, but not in such a brazenly partisan way. But Democrats and their accomplices in the media are doing everything they can to criticize, attack, and even undermine the administration's response. Not even in a time of pandemic or war is this country capable of being unified again.

Cataloging coronavirus deaths by race? The Democrats need to have something to rouse the rabble this November. Blacks didn't show up much for the 2016 election, and they need to get them to the polls in order to win.

The one thing that unites the Democrats is their hatred of whites.

Over the weekend, cities with large black and nonwhite Hispanic populations emerged as new hot spots for the spread of the virus.

“Decades of structural racism have prevented so many Black and Brown families from accessing quality health care, affordable housing, and financial security

Honestly, one of the scariest things about covid is the disproportionate number of black doctors (and nurses) shown on news reports when they do those “on the scene” reports from hospitals.

I have a relative who works in a state-run hospital that has implemented screening for every person entering the building. Everyone has to answer three questions about symptoms and have their temperature taken. She tells me that every day they have to call security because one or more of the African-immigrant nurses refuse to cooperate with the screening.

"Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey and Rep. Robin Kelly of Illinois also signed the letter. It was shared exclusively with The Associated Press"

Why "exclusively"? Why are the writers of this letter trying to limit news about it by releasing it only to the AP? Why not publicize it generally, to Reuters, CNN and the other cable networks, the NYT, the Washington Post, etc.? Is "exclusively" simply a lie by the AP?

This is because AP still has a lingering, although increasingly tattered, image as authoritative and straight-shooting, as opposed to most of those on your list of other potential news sources.

They are distancing themselves from those other, now radioactive, clearly cultural marxist channels devoted to dissemination of, at best, half truths, and at worst, calculatingly false reportage.

That would be my guess, anyway.

  71. @donvonburg

When we used more labor intensive, less efficient, less petroleum and chemical intensive agriculture and manufactured our own consumer goods many of which were simple, there was a place for an 85 IQ person to work. Now, we are losing places for 100 IQ people to work, let alone those at 85.

The current "new gilded age" isn't forever, but we are not going back to 40-80 acre farms with N Ford tractors, much less mules and horses. Never the less, the thought of dealing with the issue in a forthright way is just not palatable, and it isn't going to get more palatable until times are hard indeed.

If there is a "nice" answer, I don't know what it is. We have created a society where those not at roughly a 110 IQ level are of neutral or net negative economic value and where only the top decile of the population or those at least slightly above average in raw IQ combined with the ability and willingness to practice physically challenging skilled trades have much realistic hope of having the kind of economic future Americans expect and have grown used to.

If there is a “nice” answer, I don’t know what it is.

The Chinese have been busy working on a not-nice “answer” … they just hadn’t got the bugs out yet, when someone did an “early release”.

  72. Called it!

Though, i’ll admit this was the easiest call in the universe to make. Minoritarianism is the official ideology, with plenty of elite white fellow travelers.

As this rolls on and on it will become clear that various “population groups” vary widely in their ability and willingness to comply with the basic hygiene and “social-distancing” requirements to break the epidemic.

And that “disparate impact” is of course … deplorable whiteys fault.

“Furthermore, a history of discrimination and marginalization has left some people of color distrustful of the medical system, making them less likely to seek out timely care,” they wrote in the letter.

It's bizarre that they're obfuscating the fact that they're referring specifically to black folks. Mexicans will head for the emergency room if their kid gets the sniffles. Every nurse I've ever met would agree that poor Hispanics are the Woody Allen's of the Southern Border.

They love trying to gain admittance to emergency rooms for clearly non-emergencies. It's the constant, wing-flapping albatross of all southern california hospitals: Mexican hypochondriacs. Especially with their kids.

What I don't get is why they try to hide that's it's the poor dumb black folks who resist the emergency room in a timely fashion. Maybe it's harder to create public sympathy for willful dumbassery by folks who've been known to work against their best interests as a cultural habit.

Blacks are worried about having to give their ID to Admissions because they are more likely to have warrants out for their arrest.

  75. Gosh golly does that mean the virus will be arrested for a hate crime? Why didn’t the CDC think of this? Or the SPLC? Does that mean we can go back to calling it the Wulan or China flu? What happens if it turns out to be a primarily a white killer? So many questions.

  76. I thought the whole point of suppressing racial stats was to protect our beleaguered Asian-Americans from all those racist bullies. The whole time I was hearing how NY’s Elmhurst Hospital was “ground zero” and “a war zone” I never heard anyone point out this Queens neighborhood happens to be heavily Chinese

    • Replies: @Lockean Proviso
Let's not go back and obsess over water under he bridge (i.e. notice the Chinese connection with spreading the virus). No, let's only start keeping racial stats now so that we can blame whites for general black dysfunction and lack of hygiene.

(Not all blacks- older ones I've noticed here were the first people to be wearing masks, spraying disinfectant on their cart. Maybe they don't trust Asians, and/or maybe to make it to old age and relative health and vigor is indicative of being in the top fifth.)

  78. For the record, i totally agree with Warren on having the data. I think we should have collect racial and ethnic data on everything involving government–education, crime, welfare, etc. and sure this new Chinese coronavirus.

I did our census this morning. AFAICT, Trump didn’t fix jack.

There’s still only one ethnicity–Hispanic. (An ethnicity that has nothing to do with this nation’s founding and is not part of the American core.) And there were four or five flavors of that–i guess so Cubans wouldn’t have to feel they were slumming it with Mexicans … or something.

Then there were a bunch of flavors of Asian. Practically each nationality got it’s own box. While “White” and for that matter “Black” it was strictly fill in something if you feel like it.

Let’s have some honestly and simplicity:
    — Pick a race, and have mulatto and mestizo in there. Then pick an ethnic category. And enable mixes–1/2 this, 1/2 that.
    — Pick an ethnicity. Which includes stuff like “Scots-Irish”, “Arab”, “Jewish” as well as the obvious national groups. (“White gentile whose ancestors built this nation” would be fun category to include.)

Trump didn’t get the citizenship question in either. I guess some federal judge told him he can’t do that and Trump meekly complied instead of pointing out it’s Trump’s job and none of the judges damn business. Frustrating.

Anyway, let’s have racial data for this … and everything else. “Knowledge is Good”.

Nope. But there's this one weird census trick that serves White interests: Identify as African-American and add several other African-Americans to your domicile. Evolutionary ¡Science! proves that homo sapiens arose in Africa, thus we are all African-Americans.

Uncle Samantha doesn't check your answers: census responses are confidential and cannot be used in any court. Cramming your home with Imaginary Africans keeps the goons at Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (aka a Black a Block) away from your 'hood.

True, and these factors may well cancel one another out. But if you've ever been behind an American Negro in the checkout line at the grocery store, you may be amazed at the sheer amount of junk food it's possible to cram into a single cart.

The US government makes us pay twice for all of this – first they subsidize all that obesity and then we have to pay for their diabetes treatment and other health care expenses. Agribusiness loves it, the health care providers love it. The actual health of the black community – no one gives a damn. Food stamps should be limited to purchasing healthy foods and not all of this processed crap.

Long years of practice I’m sure. Later, as I pushed my cart out to my truck, they were piling the steaks into the back of a brand new BMW X7. The BMW was white, but they were the color of the tires on it.

And then you watch them try to pay with a combination of three different cards plus cash. When they are still short, then they have to choose which items they want to keep and which ones they will try for later. This is why you see shopping carts loaded with a bunch of groceries at the end of each register at supermarkets that cater more to low-income clientele.

Jews in Manhattan are mostly goodwhites who wouldn’t dream of attending a crowded wedding nowadays.

It has better alliteration. Plus it has the advantage of excluding those pesky model-minority Yellow people. (It's unclear, however, if Warren's Red ancestors are also excluded, or if they are simply part of Team Brown.)

Another question will be the effects of the actual illness based on race v. transmission. It is possible that Asians could suffer more (or less) once infected but ended up having fewer infections because they did not do stupid things like other groups.

Ooooh, they "fear" the hospital, since they might not be compensated for their medical waste. How scary!

I think this really resonates with blacks because they imagine getting boatloads of money for doing nothing but letting someone swab their throat or take a blood sample. And since the model would be akin to royalties or licensing, the money would come monthly in perpetuity, so they don't have to worry about stupidly spending it all, not investing it or investing in something stupid, and ending up broke like a former black NFL star.

Warren forced him to fight for the non-white gib-me-dat votes thus alienating working-class white voters he might have otherwise won. Warren has no shame and simply cannot be out-pandered, so all Bernie accomplished was to make himself look foolish trying; it was pathetic, especially after she and her media benefactors stuck that knife in his back and all he did was shrug his shoulders.

If blacks males aren’t showing up at hospitals, it has a lot of do with having active warrants out for their arrest. At the very least, black men are dodging child support payments. Black women hate giving their medical histories because they have a high venereal disease rate, and they don’t like admitting their sluttiness or the fact that they got penalized for this reckless and stupid behavior to the nice white nurse writing this all down.

Not just that. Think back to the early days of this. “Hug an Asian,” etc. Remember how worried people like Liz Warren were that Asians would be stigmatized given the Chinese origin of COVID-19?

Worst thing is, it would be so easy to program SNAP cards to reject junk food. Even crummy little Bodegas have scanners.

  97. Democratic lawmakers are calling out an apparent lack of racial data…

Race doesn’t exist… until it does. Remember the progressive’s motto, the end justifies the means.

People of color and immigrants are also less likely to be insured…

Yet another requirement we can add to our list. Indeed, each immigrant should not only insure himself, but one other American. For each member of his family. After five years of that, we can consider taking a look at citizenship.

The (unenforced) public-charge provisions of current immigration law imply much of this.

  98. @AnotherDad
For the record, i totally agree with Warren on having the data. I think we should have collect racial and ethnic data on everything involving government--education, crime, welfare, etc. and sure this new Chinese coronavirus.

I did our census this morning. AFAICT, Trump didn't fix jack.

There's still only one ethnicity--Hispanic. (An ethnicity that has nothing to do with this nation's founding and is not part of the American core.) And there were four or five flavors of that--i guess so Cubans wouldn't have to feel they were slumming it with Mexicans ... or something.

Then there were a bunch of flavors of Asian. Practically each nationality got it's own box. While "White" and for that matter "Black" it was strictly fill in something if you feel like it.

Let's have some honestly and simplicity:
-- Pick a race, and have mulatto and mestizo in there. Then pick an ethnic category. And enable mixes--1/2 this, 1/2 that.
-- Pick an ethnicity. Which includes stuff like "Scots-Irish", "Arab", "Jewish" as well as the obvious national groups. ("White gentile whose ancestors built this nation" would be fun category to include.)

Trump didn't get the citizenship question in either. I guess some federal judge told him he can't do that and Trump meekly complied instead of pointing out it's Trump's job and none of the judges damn business. Frustrating.

Anyway, let's have racial data for this ... and everything else. "Knowledge is Good".

“I did our census this morning. AFAICT, Trump didn’t fix jack.”

Nope. But there’s this one weird census trick that serves White interests: Identify as African-American and add several other African-Americans to your domicile. Evolutionary ¡Science! proves that homo sapiens arose in Africa, thus we are all African-Americans.

Uncle Samantha doesn’t check your answers: census responses are confidential and cannot be used in any court. Cramming your home with Imaginary Africans keeps the goons at Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (aka a Black a Block) away from your ‘hood.

But no, she went back and got a degree as a speech pathologist. For most people that would have been it - you have a professional degree, you get a job and leave it at that. This is why you see shopping carts loaded with a bunch of groceries at the end of each register at supermarkets that cater more to low-income clientele.

That’s curious as I just learned about Henrietta Lacks yesterday. She died in 1951, after a bout of cervical cancer for which she ultimately refused a treatment protocol. In the course of her diagnosis, cell samples were taken, and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) was discovered.

Also discovered, the cell line created from the cell samples (named for her as HeLa) are immortal, as they don’t experience cell senescence as human cells had previously, normally dying after a few days.

Medical treatment practices in the ’50s didn’t have the elaborate consent forms people regularly sign-off on today. It’s a hoax to say that no consent was given, as she visited the hospital for diagnosis and treatment, and by all accounts was attended to with the standard practices of the day. Only in light of today’s practices can one say no consent was given–making all previous medical practices, by today’s standards, as without consent.

The controversy results from the discovery of an immortal cell line. Otherwise, as cell samples naturally died, there’d have been no issue to raise.

Structural racism meant Blacks and Browns were intimidated, and not cooperative, and therefore not counted or properly surveyed, et cetera, etc., ad infinitum.

All such alleged shortcomings–which can’t be disproved, can’t prove a negative–ultimately result in a jobs program for Blacks and Browns for the purpose of “equity” in health care services in all kinds of seat warmer and time-serving positions. Well, the “Made in Italy” on the label as described in the New Yorker article, is cheap, low-end retail apparel. Even “moving up” to Guess or American Eagle is not the status/fashion conscious consumer looking for “Made in Italy” apparel. The brand still says “cheap.”

Let me understand. If you’re sick, aren’t you supposed to go to the hospital?

If blacks males aren't showing up at hospitals, it has a lot of do with having active warrants out for their arrest. At the very least, black men are dodging child support payments. Black women are humiliated at always needing a helper for filling out for forms because they are too stupid and illiterate to understand what the piece of paper is asking them. Black women hate giving their medical histories because they have a high venereal disease rate, and they don't like admitting their sluttiness or the fact that they got penalized for this reckless and stupid behavior to the nice white nurse writing this all down.

At the very least, black men are dodging child support payments.

This is going to be a real disparate impact issue when the $1,200 checks go out, because if you owe child support you aren’t getting one. Liz, Kamala, and Cory better get on that right now.

For the race question, I checked Other and then wrote in American.

Food stamps should be limited to purchasing healthy foods and not all of this processed crap.

Your stuff (and Steve’s) has been a big part of my starting to get a clue on “social justice” issues around seven years ago.

I’d had some inkling that the mainstream views were unlikely or seemed misguided but having various aspects documented and explained has been great. It’s been extra helpful since this is a thread of thought that the mainstream narrative (in media and academia) combats more by obscuring and ignoring it than attempting to refute it.

At the very least, black men are dodging child support payments.

This is going to be a real disparate impact issue when the $1,200 checks go out, because if you owe child support you aren't getting one. Liz, Kamala, and Cory better get on that right now.

Wouldn’t the black baby mamas who would be receiving the delinquent child support be more likely to vote than the father? I also wouldn’t assume many of these men are getting W-2 and filing tax returns to begin with. If they were doing that, the child support would be withheld from their paychecks.

Checking the LA County website today the communities with the highest case rates are Hancock Park (High Orthodox population), Beverly Crest (I lived and worked in the South Bay so am unfamiliar with the demographics of this area. From what Wikipedia says I assume rich and travel a lot), and West Hollywood. It's interesting that two gay communities - West Hollywood and Laguna Beach are front runners in LA and Orange counties.

Beverly Crest is where movie stars live above Beverly Hills.

Yeah, really classic. World Star HipHop is full of vids like this. Early in the clip there's little "clap-back" that's still popular with black women. Lol, it's stupid. It's just getting into someone's fact to try and stir up the physical, so "HE HIT ME! DIDJA SEE?" with all that falls out of that.

How many times in that little clip did the store security guard say the same thing. The same thing over and over, and who didn't listen? Anyone wanna be a cop in urban Hotlanta, get to deal with this kind of stuff all day every day? Domestic disturbances? Fender bender accident? Altercation on the street? Get to try and calm down babymommas like that, get some testimony from them that's not total lies, wind up putting one of them in the car for assault because she couldn't hold back? Do the paperwork, then go right out to the very same thing an hour later?

How much do cops get paid in majority black areas? Not nearly enough.

Notice how long that security guard put up with it, even after Ms. Strong N Independent Nubian Queen stepped in the doorway for like the third time. Then he gave her a free Taser ride, put her right on the ground. Changed her behavior a little bit. He cleaned the wires off his Taser and kept right on the same. That's a slice of his day, his 8 hour shift on the job.

This is just everyday stuff outside of Niceville. I'm sure all those little kids in the vid are gonna grow up to be doctors. And if they don't, it'll be because of redlining or lingering effects of Jim Crow or too much leaded gasoline or some other excuse. Because some reasons just can't be said.

Oh, wait, one more: those fat babymommas may not be diabetic yet but they will be. Diabetes and high blood pressure are co-factors with the new Corona virus. Fat women like that might ride this pandemic out for now, but see how it plays in the long run, because the 2019 WuFlu will almost certainly be back. Then we can hear all about how PoC are hit hardest and no one can figure out why because they didndu nuffin different from anyone else.

I thought the whole point of suppressing racial stats was to protect our beleaguered Asian-Americans from all those racist bullies. The whole time I was hearing how NY's Elmhurst Hospital was "ground zero" and "a war zone" I never heard anyone point out this Queens neighborhood happens to be heavily Chinese

Let’s not go back and obsess over water under he bridge (i.e. notice the Chinese connection with spreading the virus). No, let’s only start keeping racial stats now so that we can blame whites for general black dysfunction and lack of hygiene.

(Not all blacks- older ones I’ve noticed here were the first people to be wearing masks, spraying disinfectant on their cart. Maybe they don’t trust Asians, and/or maybe to make it to old age and relative health and vigor is indicative of being in the top fifth.)

  139. @vhrm

    Absolutely.

It will also be interesting to see how much white people realize illegals are taking precedence over grandma, which will be somewhat possible to extrapolate (once they try to hide it) by how much effort, and /or reported results, of health care access/opportunities are provided to illegals, as studied after this is all over. If dems parade the many successes of providing health care to illegals–that will make it clear. Not sure how they will walk that fine line.

Will there be anyone who concludes, they put illegals from another country over American men and women?

Can't see that happening, frankly. They wouldn't parade those successes because that would be asking for trouble--for the very reasons you supply. They want to pretend always and against all evidence that the Racist Deplorables are In Charge and forever torturing and dispossessing POCs.

I've never lived in a place where the ERs aren't jammed with latinos and their seemingly infinite numbers of children, and being used as (free) primary-care centers. But have you ever seen this state of affairs depicted, much less deplored, in the major media?
  140. S says:

Elizabeth Warren, albeit transplanted, as a Massachusetts Democratic senator is very much a New England ‘progressive’. As such she has the required feticization of ‘people of color’ (poc), particularly Blacks, masquerading as actual concern for their well being.

I submit the origins of this New England progressive poc feticizing can be found amongst the historic New England slave dealers/owners, and hangers on, whom would ‘virtue signal’ their faux compassion for their African slaves to other slave dealer/owners and the general public by ‘doting’ upon them as one does a cherished cat or dog.

Of course, if they truly had cared about their chattel slave’s well being, they wouldn’t have been engaging in slavery in the first place, but doing that right and proper thing would have involved some real costs, particularly financial, to them.

Relatedly, and in keeping with the progressive tradition, Warren launched her 2020 presidential election bid in Lawrence ‘Immigrant City’, Mass, New England’s first ‘majority minority’ city, to demonstrate how much she really ‘cares’ about the modern day wage slave, ie the so called ‘cheap labor’.

As stated, this feticization of poc by progressives goes far back.

Below are some chapter titles from a 72 page 1863 pamphlet linked below entitled Miscegenation. Only after the 1864 presidential election was it revealed to be a purported hoax.

Had Elizabeth Warren been around at the time as a self desribed progressive (and, yes, they were around then too, and called themselves by that name) she probably would have believed the pamphlet was real, as a good many of that ilk did then.

    They dote upon their slaves.

And yet I'll bet that she is on the short list for VP.

And yet I’ll bet that she is on the short list for VP.

For some obscure reason, the names of POTUS/VP candidates almost never rhyme. AFAIK Humphrey/Muskie were the only rhyming major party nomination in the last 150 or so years.

Definitely drink more–drink whenever possible–as I think alcohol can kill this virus. Meanwhile, if you’re keen to know where the stupidity comes from, just turn on the nearest TV set. On second thought, drink more. Alcohol kills fewer brain cells.

I rarely turn on the TV. I find the comedies stupid, the documentaries slow, the dramas predictable and woke, the commercials insulting, and the talk shows make me want to throw things at the TV. Even golf is full of crap about all the trans illegals the sponsors are helping.

You're really missing out. TV is how I learned that most doctors and wealth advisors are black. Also that most white families have a kindly black guy that advises them on their insurance.

Don’t the Orthodox and the ultraOrthodox “bleed off” into the more secular categories of Jews and in that way constantly “refill” the pool of secular Jewry?

Isn’t the history of New York City in the 20th century a classic example of that?

As long as the ultras keep having 5-8 kids per family their excess kids have to go somewhere, since the ultra population is clearly not exploding in size.

For the ultra Orthodox especially, it's very hard to transition into the secular world. Your family will shun you. You have no secular education and don't even know how to send an email. Watch the current Netflix series Unorthodox to get some idea of the difficulties. Yes, there are a few ex-Hasidim in NY but most don't have the courage (or desire) to do so.

Today's ultra-Orthodox are very different from past Jewish immigrants. BTW the ultra population IS exploding in size, at least in relation to the rest of the Jewish populaton. 61% of the Jewish children in the NY metro area are now Orthodox.

Elizabeth Warren, albeit transplanted, as a Massachusetts Democratic senator is very much a New England 'progressive'. As such she has the required feticization of 'people of color' (poc), particularly Blacks, masquerading as actual concern for their well being.

I submit the origins of this New England progressive poc feticizing can be found amongst the historic New England slave dealers/owners, and hangers on, whom would 'virtue signal' their faux compassion for their African slaves to other slave dealer/owners and the general public by 'doting' upon them as one does a cherished cat or dog.

Of course, if they truly had cared about their chattel slave's well being, they wouldn't have been engaging in slavery in the first place, but doing that right and proper thing would have involved some real costs, particularly financial, to them.

Relatedly, and in keeping with the progressive tradition, Warren launched her 2020 presidential election bid in Lawrence 'Immigrant City', Mass, New England's first 'majority minority' city, to demonstrate how much she really 'cares' about the modern day wage slave, ie the so called 'cheap labor'.

Careful what you wish for Liz. What will you do if you learn that deaths are disproportionately among cigarette smoking, donut-eating, exercise non-doing POC?

What will you do if you learn that deaths are disproportionately among cigarette smoking, donut-eating, exercise non-doing POC?

What a softball! It will be be because white privilege hides information about cigarettes and donuts from POC. POC are “nutritional information deprived”. They’re “denied access” to information

Just remember – nothing is ever their fault. Except for good stuff, that’s 100% them.

Wouldn’t the black baby mamas who would be receiving the delinquent child support be more likely to vote than the father?

Um... apparently, you haven't been around many black baby mammas.

They... aren't the kind to... hand out fliers asking for support for Bernie Saunders, since they most likely... don't know who he is...

    Hope this helps...

Yeah, really classic. World Star HipHop is full of vids like this. Early in the clip there’s little “clap-back” that’s still popular with black women. Lol, it’s stupid. It’s just getting into someone’s fact to try and stir up the physical, so “HE HIT ME! DIDJA SEE?” with all that falls out of that.

How many times in that little clip did the store security guard say the same thing. The same thing over and over, and who didn’t listen? Anyone wanna be a cop in urban Hotlanta, get to deal with this kind of stuff all day every day? Domestic disturbances? Fender bender accident? Altercation on the street? Get to try and calm down babymommas like that, get some testimony from them that’s not total lies, wind up putting one of them in the car for assault because she couldn’t hold back? Do the paperwork, then go right out to the very same thing an hour later?

How much do cops get paid in majority black areas? Not nearly enough.

Notice how long that security guard put up with it, even after Ms. Strong N Independent Nubian Queen stepped in the doorway for like the third time. Then he gave her a free Taser ride, put her right on the ground. Changed her behavior a little bit. He cleaned the wires off his Taser and kept right on the same. That’s a slice of his day, his 8 hour shift on the job.

This is just everyday stuff outside of Niceville. I’m sure all those little kids in the vid are gonna grow up to be doctors. And if they don’t, it’ll be because of redlining or lingering effects of Jim Crow or too much leaded gasoline or some other excuse. Because some reasons just can’t be said.

I’d like to make Liz Warren live in a neighborhood like this for, oh, a year. See how she likes it.

  160. @OscarWildeLoveChild

If dems parade the many successes of providing health care to illegals–that will make it clear. Not sure how they will walk that fine line.

Can’t see that happening, frankly. They wouldn’t parade those successes because that would be asking for trouble–for the very reasons you supply. They want to pretend always and against all evidence that the Racist Deplorables are In Charge and forever torturing and dispossessing POCs.

I’ve never lived in a place where the ERs aren’t jammed with latinos and their seemingly infinite numbers of children, and being used as (free) primary-care centers. But have you ever seen this state of affairs depicted, much less deplored, in the major media?

In Chicago, Latinos seem to become a big piece of the support staff (nurses) and the face behind the desk (Not the MDs) for hospitals. Seems like half of the waiting room patients are Hispanics.

That picture was likely taken in the "other Georgia" - the poster on the window reads ბიგ მაკი ("big maki").

That’s fascinating. Is it then likely these are Georgian tykes?

Can’t imagine there are very many latinos in ‘that’ Georgia.

Yes, phenotypically they're pretty much like the darker Mediterraneans, thus at least partially overlapping with the Latino continuum. Here are some less obese Georgian kids:

  165. OT:

The relationship between right-wing extremism and online media is at the heart of Antisocial, Andrew Marantz’s new book about what he calls “the hijacking of the American conversation.”

    ******
The online alt-right, together with the presidential candidate they decided to champion, Donald Trump, played a key role in making white nationalist ideas part of the national conversation. Until 2016, the two major parties and national media reflected a broad consensus—at least in rhetoric, if not in actual policy—that America was a nation where immigrants were welcome and people of all races and religions were equal. When Republicans played the “race card,” they did so obliquely in deference to the consensus. Under George W. Bush, the Republican establishment was still pushing immigration reform, while the party was increasingly in opposition to legislation and succeeded in blocking it.

But a few on the far right called for Republicans to go further. They assailed “the Narrative,” their term for the dominant liberal ideas about racial and gender equality. Marantz highlights the role of Steve Sailer, an opinion writer who had been arguing since the early 2000s that Republicans should openly cast themselves as a white-identity party, enact pro-white policies, and take aggressive action against immigration, including the repeal of birthright citizenship. Others on the right called this the “Sailer strategy.” Social media gave Sailer and like-minded heretics—“many of whom Buckley had banished to the fringes of the movement years earlier”—new ways of disseminating their views that were more powerful than what was appearing in a print magazine like National Review.
