From Madison.com:

Police still mum on investigation in alleged hate crime, 7 weeks later

Ed Treleven | Wisconsin State Journal 6 hrs ago

Seven weeks after a biracial woman told police she had been sprayed with lighter fluid by a group of white men and then set on fire, police and the woman’s family say the investigation into the incident continues.

But little information about the June 24 incident has been released as the Madison police and the FBI continue to investigate. Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said Wednesday that he regularly checks with the lead detective on the case, along with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit, and said it is still an active investigation.

“There is nothing new to release at this time,” DeSpain said. …

In the meantime, police have not released any surveillance camera images, as they did in other recent cases that led to arrests in the June 24 attack on state Sen. Tim Carpenter, D-Milwaukee, and in the arrest of Marquon Clark, 26, of Madison, a “person of interest” in the firebombing of the City-County Building, which happened the same night. Police have also released images of other persons of interest in the CCB incident.

Their more immediate problem is the over-enthusiastic but under-melanated* bandwagoners, e.g. Twitter junior aspiring personalities who've changed their handles to include the approved fad slogan/incantation but then go back to emitting the whitest possible complaints about comic-book-store distribution reform or Starbucks drive-through policy. BLM are more the tip of the spear that allows others to pile on.

They also were never about what they declared themselves to be about. Police brutality is not systematic anymore. Some police do grow contempt for the poor but that's a problem that will be exacerbated by the 'reforms' proposed which seem to assume that police who don't kill black men unjustly aren't possible and that policing itself is the problem. (As always, America's cosmopolitan intellectuals don't ask the question of 'What do they do in other countries?' It has taken them decades to learn the name of the British national health service.)

You can't have a functional movement against something that doesn't exist. So in order to function it has to achieve something and thus 'defund the police' and 'abolitionism'. But these don't actually solve any problems (Gun violence in black communities) and merely make them worse. More broadly I think you can call BLM just black nationalism.

However, some BLM groups have begun to realise that the charges of 'systematic racism' thrown at the US and the West actually do exist in a settler-colonialist country the US gives unlimited military protection to and whose military budget is entirely paid for by US tax payers. So if BLM can't keep it's mouth shut about Israel, expect them to lose their access to the megaphone. Because it would be so easy to make 'Defund the IDF' a viral slogan. A viral slogan that Trump would, of course, viciously oppose and then what is the media gunna do? Ignore it? Racism! Side with Trump? Racism! They've got a category 5 logic trap coming.

    Black Looters Matter

White liberals don't care about facts; they care about feelz.

White people typically worked hard to achieve something in their lives...
and they assume that black people have also been working hard...
and they assume that everyone has equal ability...
and therefore the only reason black people haven't achieved more is racism.

They feel bad about black people. They like the idea of saying "black lives matter". It feelz good to them.

When BLM Chicago says that black looters have the right to break into stores and take reparations, all they hear is "reparations" and they agree that black people should get some.

You simply cannot reason with white liberals.

In addition to no suspects in this case, there have been no charges filed against Clark for the firebombing of the City-County building that night. It is somewhat surprising no one has found or posted online any screen captures or pictures of Althea at the riot, since she obviously didn't have her face covered. Facebook’s latest ‘hate speech’ update proves no censorship will ever be enough for social media thought police

The only thing that will NOT get you censored on Facebook now seems to be sieghailing the “Kamala for President” con job, crying over Fentanyl Floyd, boasting about your duly documented shopping and making squirrel noises.

The social media behemoth has bent the knee in spectacularly groveling fashion following a pro-censorship campaign disguised as an advertiser protest against Facebook’s supposed leniency toward “hate speech.” In a blog post on Tuesday, the platform announced a dramatic expansion of its Hate Speech policy along with the formation of a “Diversity Advisory Council” and a handful of “inclusivity” task forces.

Facebook has even volunteered to submit to an “independent, third-party audit in 2021,” issuing a call for proposals for would-be auditors to “grade its homework” – i.e. verify it’s not manipulating statistics to make itself look tougher on “hate speech” than it really is. In sum, Facebook has completely dropped its pretense of defiance and acquiesced to the demands of Stop Hate for Profit, the boycott campaign led by notorious censorship advocates the Anti-Defamation League.

Never particularly well-defined, the concept of “hate speech” on Facebook already included not only “generalizations that state inferiority” (of the hygienic, mental, or moral variety), “expressions of contempt,” and “expressions of disgust,” but even “expressions of dismissal.” Yes, stating one does not care about [protected group] counts as hate speech on the world’s largest social media platform. “Mocking the concept, events or victims of hate crimes” is also outlawed, an interesting policy wrinkle given the ADL’s known propensity for flat-out inventing its own hate crime stats.

    Black Looters Matter

White liberals don’t care about facts; they care about feelz.

White people typically worked hard to achieve something in their lives…
and they assume that black people have also been working hard…
and they assume that everyone has equal ability…
and therefore the only reason black people haven’t achieved more is racism.

They feel bad about black people. They like the idea of saying “black lives matter“. It feelz good to them.

When BLM Chicago says that black looters have the right to break into stores and take reparations, all they hear is “reparations” and they agree that black people should get some.

Isn’t the actual issue is that none of it is organic in that sense? It can’t collapse under its own weight because it’s not actually the structure? I think we all pretty much get it at this point but we also occasionally make statements to the contrary because it’s hard to be pessimistic, dour, etc. all the time.

  31. Bringing the FBI into this incident is going to be a problem. The FBI maybe good at covering up their own abuses but they did not initiate this. Althea Bernstein did so they are going to have to issue a report on the credibility of Ms. Bernstein’s attack claim. If they find no evidence of her being attacked by 4 Haven Monahan’s she’s in legal trouble.

  32. Wouldn’t this story have more traction if they refered to Bernstein as black? Just wondering why they don’t refer to Kamala Harris as the “bi-racial” VP candidate.

Bzzzt, wrong, unless you define a whole ship as a container. The amount that went boom was 2,750 TONS.

A standard 40' shipping container has a maximum cargo capacity of around 26 tons so you would have needed over 100 shipping containers to carry it. In the Oklahoma City bombing McVeigh used around a ton of fertilizer, which was enough to bring down about half of a single skyscraper but the Beirut explosion destroyed everything for a 3km radius - it was more like a mini-nuke. One container of AN would not do that but 100 of them could.

‘Get the f**k out!’: WATCH Chicago residents confront BLM protesters in tense standoff

    https://twitter.com/TylerLaRiviere/status/1293332680482926593

An organizer of the protest, which was put together by members of Black Lives Matter and advocacy group Good Kids Mad City, told a local news outlet that some demonstrators decided to leave following conflict with residents, saying they felt “unsafe.” [There must be a market opportunity in portable safe spaces that you can take along for a 'protest'] Other organizers maintained they were from the local area, but said they said they decided not to participate in the rally due to “agitators.”

The protest came days after the police shooting of a 20-year-old suspect who reportedly opened fire on officers, which kicked off a spree of looting in downtown Chicago over the weekend. Smith said the unrest had been unfairly blamed on Englewood, and that the protesters were only feeding that perception.

“A lot of people are saying the looting downtown sparked from Englewood. We’re not having that. It didn’t spark from Englewood,” he said. “Those [looters] were opportunists, and we’re tired of Englewood getting a black eye for any and everything that happens.”

Britannia used to rule the waves, now it attacks defenceless people in tiny boats to deflect from its own sinking status

Put aside the rights, wrongs and in-betweens of a country accepting refugees from a Middle East hellhole that it helped create. Forget the fact that no evidence or statistics back up the fears around asylum seekers, that the UK takes far fewer than some smaller European countries and that, far from wanting to “destroy our way of life,” refugees are more enthusiastic about the UK than its own residents.

Forget, too, the humanitarian aspect, which made cabinet ministers so sensitive that they got upset when some ice cream called them out over it. And that we could probably do with some fresh blood around here, having lost record numbers of people to Covid-19 (sorry, we’re not supposed to mention that).

Depends on what you mean by 'BLM', I wouldn't focus on any organisations because this has become a mass movement or concept with large-scale full social media activism from near every black person with a pulse. I would call that phenomenon more generally to be a form of black nationalism. A kind of black nationalist awakening.

Weird story about the origins of the Beirut ammonium nitrate:

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/07/middleeast/beirut-lebanon-ammonium-nitrate-explosion/index.html

-- Ordered by a company in Mozambique in 2013, en route from Georgia (country of).

-- A single container, apparently -- I thought it was a whole warehouse full. You could drop a single container from an airplane as a mega-bomb.

-- The container somehow got lost or something and sat in Beirut for almost seven years before detonating.

-- The Mozambique company had to order another batch when the first one went walkabout.

-- The size of the shipment was actually rather small for an ammonium nitrate shipment, so bigger loads of this stuff are crisscrossing the globe daily.

Ammonium nitrate explosions happen on a semi regular basis.

In the Oklahoma City bombing McVeigh used around a ton of fertilizer, which was enough to bring down about half of a single skyscraper but the Beirut explosion destroyed everything for a 3km radius – it was more like a mini-nuke. In fact based on cubic capacity of something heavy like AN, a LOT more but you are not allowed to load them beyond 26 tons. Not that you would transport 2,750 tons of AN in containers - that's what a bulk carrier is for.

Attorney-client discussions are supposed to be private. There were class-action lawsuits against a management company at Leavenworth for recording inmate’s meetings and calls with their lawyers. However, I am not sure if recording the lawyers’ calls is actually illegal or more of a questionable practice.

Both class action lawsuits were sparked by disclosures that privileged attorney-client phone calls and meetings were audio- and videotaped at the Leavenworth Detention Center, a sprawling complex that holds men and women charged with federal crimes who can’t make bail.

Lawyers regularly meet with their clients there to review their cases. The lawsuits alleged the recordings of their meetings and phone calls, which are supposed to be private, violated federal and state wiretap laws.

    Englewood not onboard with BLM:

Bzzzt, wrong, unless you define a whole ship as a container. The amount that went boom was 2,750 TONS.

A standard 40′ shipping container has a maximum cargo capacity of around 26 tons so you would have needed over 100 shipping containers to carry it.

This is something that only Jack would know. Jack, please make me feel better about myself and tell me you Googled it.

    Replies: @Jack D

I did. Off the top of my head, I would have guessed that a container holds 20 tons but I checked and it’s really a little more. In fact based on cubic capacity of something heavy like AN, a LOT more but you are not allowed to load them beyond 26 tons. Not that you would transport 2,750 tons of AN in containers – that’s what a bulk carrier is for.
