With Columbus, Ohio in the news, from WBNS in Columbus:

Columbus sees twice as many homicides compared to this time last year

Last year, Columbus set a new high with 175 homicides with 2021 already at 60 in mid-April.

Author: Lacey Crisp
Published: 6:41 PM EDT April 19, 2021

There have been 60 homicides in the city of Columbus this year. That is twice the number the city had last year in the same time frame.

Homicides in Columbus in 2020 were up 67% over 2019.

This reminds me of an interesting epistemological question: how do you tell the difference between a man-bites-dog example and an example that shows the kind of thing that can happen when one or more bell curves are shifted to the right of the national average?

For instance, in 2019, Eliud Kipchoge ran the 26.2 mile distance of the marathon in under two hours. You could call this a man-bites-dog story because nobody had ever done that before. Or you could call it a stereotypical bell curve story because Kipchoge is just about the single most stereotypical marathon great ever: not only is he a Kenyan, but he is from the famous Kalenjin running tribe. And not only is he a Kalenjin, he’s from the Nandi highlands. And not only is he from Nandi, he’s from the town of Eldoret, the world’s epicenter of great distance runners.

Not everybody understands that the press naturally promotes Man-Bites-Dog stories. For example, much of the public has an enormously warped sense of who is doing most of the murdering in America because the press loves man-bites-dog stories about whites murdering nonwhites, and gives these relatively rare events vastly more coverage than nonwhites murdering whites or, especially, nonwhites murdering nonwhites.

In one sense, the Columbus story of the late Knife Girl trying to disembowel two other girls is interesting because it’s a Man-Bites-Dog story or, to be precise a Girl-Tries-to-Knife-Other-Girls story, which are less common than Man-Knifes-Man stories.

Yet, Black-Girl-Knifes-Black-Girl stories are more common than could be hoped. For example, also in Ohio this week, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports:

Cincinnati police charge 13-year-old girl in stabbing death of another girl, also 13
Chris Mayhew, Cameron Knight
Cincinnati Enquirer

April 20, 2021

Cincinnati police said a 13-year-old girl has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of another 13-year-old girl on Monday.

Officers were called at 9:08 p.m. Monday to Topridge Place in Winton Hills, according to a Cincinnati Police Department release. Police said they found a 13-year-old with a stab wound. The incident happened in the green space between two buildings.

“During a verbal dispute, (the teen) pulled out a pocket knife and cut the victim on the right side of her neck causing her death,” court documents state.

Nyaira Givens, 13, died from her injuries at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

My impression is that the Columbus knife mayhem that was averted at the last fraction of a second by the police officer shooting Knife Girl is less of a Man Bites Dog story (although the cop’s superb reactions to the utter chaos were unusually impeccable, like a scene from a Tom Cruise movie, only vastly more confusing) than it is the kind of thing that happens when bell curves are shifted.

Females rarely murder other females, but blacks in 2019 were 8.2 times per capita as likely to be known murder offenders as were other races. So the odds are that if we see insane video of a 16-year-old girl trying to carve up 2 other girls into ground chuck even though the cops had already arrived that Knife Girl would be black are quite high.

Conversely, that young officer Nicholas Reardon performed remarkably has a nature and nurture element as well: his father recently as the Columbus police department’s chief of training, having trained 700 cadets. Reardon’s upbringing and inheritance for police work is out on the right side of the bell curve.

  2. Living in nearby Dayton. There are no mass demonstrations of white hipsters showing solidarity with B LM as occur nightly in more trendy locales such as Portland. Lately I have been driving through colorful east Dayton after work photographing classic industrial architecture with vintage German film cameras. Just because Goebells had one of these beauties doesn’t make me a Nazi. Thanks to media provocation I have to decide whether to carry my pistol to work instead of a camera. Also there are no homeless tents here. Too cold and plenty of abandoned structures.

Monday night, 13-year-old Nyaira Givens was stabbed to death by another girl her same age in Winton Hills.

While killings are relatively rare, assaults against juveniles and between juveniles are reported to police nearly every day.

According to an Enquirer analysis Cincinnati Police data, 477 assaults and killings against juveniles were reported in the past 12 months. Of those, 50 resulted in the arrest of another juvenile.

Guns were involved in 128, knives in six, but most were physical attacks with no weapons.

Knives surprisingly rare, if one believes the numbers.

nonwhites murdering whites or, especially, nonwhites murdering nonwhites.

You mean like the commonly occurring Asian-on-white or Asian-on-Asian murders?

You know full well that “white vs. nonwhite” is an inaccurate categorization in this context, as “nonwhite” includes both the least homicidal and the most homicidal racial groups in America.

I don’t like it when the media frames things to obscure reality. I expect rather better of you, Mr. Sailer.

Knives surprisingly rare, if one believes the numbers.

Firearms are preferred over bladed weapons six- or seven-to-one in homicides in the U.S.

Knives obviously have a very limited range, so requires more courage or determination to close the distance than firearms.

That said, it is the weapon of choice for quiet killings or as improvised weapons for assassinations in controlled environments (e.g. prison shank).

Texas school teacher suspended over photo of her foot on black student’s neck

The unnamed teacher reportedly sent the photo – which shows the boy on a hard floor as the teacher puts her foot directly on his neck – as a joke to his mother, with whom she was friends, on the same day former police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murdering black man George Floyd by placing his knee on his neck.

The photo was then posted on social media and started to circulate.

“I didn’t like it from the moment I seen it,” said the boy’s dad, while his uncle added, “With what’s going on in the world right now, that ain’t nothing to play about at all… Whether he agreed to do it, she asked him to do it, it don’t even matter. He’s 10. He don’t know no better. She do though.”

Greenville ISD Superintendent Demetrus Liggins also condemned the teacher’s actions, saying, “My initial reaction was disgust… That is not who we are. That picture does not define our teachers, it does not define the way we treat our students.”

Superintendent is right, the pic also doesn’t show a teacup and doesn’t say anything about Lenin for example.

    What’s the takeaway here?

    a) Stop interacting with blacks.
    b) Stop being “friends” with blacks.
    c) Stop being near blacks.
    d) Start standing up to wokeadmin, especially those named like Hobbits.

Yes but then they will complain that the cops did not protect the knife victim from the knife assailant. No matter what the cops do, they will be branded as racists and riots and looting will follow. Notice the left was not satisfied with the jury throwing the book at Chauvin and convicting him of everything. There is no pleasing these little Hitlers.

  16. Yeah, Sailer, this is all well and good, you know, this obsessive focus on common characteristics or specialized behaviors by genetic dispositions, that sort of boring shit.

    But here’s the critical question:

Should knife girl try out for track?

If you knew wokies like I know wokies… They don’t believe that black people commit crime, and the rare occasions when the MSM do mention it are examples of white supremacy in action. TD may be a parody account but he’s not far from the mark.

Essentially everyone I know IRL is woke and they will refuse to have crime discussed in their presence, except for things like the riots on Capitol Hill and in Charlottesville.

Their MSM teach them that anything else is a slippery slope to Nazi Germany.

  18. There is a need for conflict resolution in a certain demographic. Everything turns into a violent confrontation in seconds. I won’t fault schools but I will fault parents. This incomprehensible fecklessness combined with Kennedy’s dehumanization of the populace in Obergefell let all the dogs out.

  20. Unlike most people, I think it all will deflate.

America is too rich & too spacious & too unlike core Europe because of impossibility of explosion of ideological passions. Blacks will crawl back to their ghettos, white liberals will just get tired of themselves or die off, ….

I said recently: there are no real Americans. This is not a real people. Either rootless cosmopolitans or narrow provincials.

Isaiah Berlin, in his famous essay on Tolstoy, “The Hedgehog and the Fox”, writes on influential reactionary French author Joseph de Maistre (https://uniteyouthdublin.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/the_hedgehog_and_the_fox-copy.pdf):

This is the distinction that permeates the thought of Pascal and Blake, Rousseau and Schelling, Goethe and Coleridge, Chateaubriand and Carlyle; of all those who speak of the reasons of the heart, or of men’s moral or spiritual nature, of sublimity and depth, of the‘profounder’ insight of poets and prophets, of special kinds of understanding, of inwardly comprehending, or being at one with, the world. To these latter thinkers both Tolstoy and Maistre belong. Tolstoy blames everything on our ignorance of empirical causes, and Maistre on the abandonment of Thomist logic or the theology of the Catholic Church. But these avowed professions are belied by the tone and content of what in fact the two great critics say. Both stress, over and over again, the contrast between the ‘inner’ and the ‘outer’, the ‘surface’ which alone is lighted by the rays of science and of reason, and the‘depths’–‘the real life lived by men’. For Maistre, as later for Barres, true knowledge–wisdom–lies in an understanding of, and communion with, la terre et les morts (what has this to do with Thomist logic?)–the great unalterable movement created by the links between the dead and the living and the yet unborn and the land on which they live; and it is this, perhaps, or something akin to it, that, in their respective fashions, Burke and Taine, and their many imitators, have attempted to convey.

La terre et les morts- Americans don’t have this.

  24. As a mere lurker on twitter, there are plenty of examples of black women being violent. However I am not certain it can be totally blamed on having an IQ below that of mental retardation. It doesn’t help.
It does appear the stupid blacks are being egged on thru social media and MSM. The black affirmative action winners seem to want to reaffirm their blackness, despite having no intention whatsoever to return to the community, by enabling violent black behavior and crying victim at the same time. Since many blacks on the winning side are working in the affirmative action grift, for them its all about the money. The embarrassing hood dwellers killing themselves is also no biggie to uptown dwelling blacks . Decades ago the bright ones would have been the leaders in the black neighborhoods, and setting the standards of hood decorum and operating places of employment. Bottom line it is not a man bites dog story.

Yes, this. This right here. It’s a dead common event in the particular subculture, and it isn’t new. An older relative once told me that some girls in her high school with the poofy Afro hair style also used to keep a razor blade tucked away in the hair. This was back in the late 70’s. She saw the beginnings of a girl-vs-girl fight after the school day a few times, and always just walked away. She did not want to be in the vicinity if or when the razor blades came out.

  34. Another thought…union teachers, in public schools, will walk if you ask them to contribute to their benefits to close a budget gap. They will also walk if you ask them to stay 15 minutes more each day to help students who are failing. They will not walk when a fellow teacher is punched full on in the face, or tossed over a desk or hit on the head with a metal trash can. Some one has to explain to me why teachers are against in school discipline…oh, right, I forgot, obama and holder and michelle all pointed out disparate treatment. Have to stay woke.

  35. @Buffalo Joe

Good point. Unfortunately most teachers would support more discipline and tracking of students. But the leadership wants less discipline and no tracking of students. The leaders are principals , administrators and teachers trying to become principals or union leaders who are more concerned with benefits than classroom management

Having worked in several schools as a teacher , the majority of teachers actually want more discipline, but it is difficult to fight for more discipline when the administrators and principals oppose it. The teachers able to hang on and get tenure are the type which always conform and or are fearful of opposing the leadership because they want to keep their jobs.

The superintendent at my last middle school was once a good disciplinarian. Students feared him, but after the school became 12% Black he was told to reduce discipline by the administration or lose his position. People complained about disparate impact and such , forcing him to back off and many teachers have complained to deaf ears about the changes. One teacher was forced out of the middle school for yelling at a student , sent him to teach at the high school, because they could not fire him due to tenure. The school was a great place to teach 7 years ago but now most teachers want to leave. Must be a hell hole today , as they have made it near impossible to suspend the delinquent students.

Now we have full-scale conflict escalation. That’s all it takes for someone to potentially go to the hospital or the police station: a bump and a curse.

Honestly, and my friend agrees, it’s not even possible to educate young hot-heads in our current system… it may not be possible in any system. The schools can’t expel them but for the most heinous offenses. The only outcome they can hope for is that the punks drop out on their own.

Btw, the etymology of “in the pink” has nothing to do with the color. Rather, there was a Dansh word, pinck, for a kind of flower that had amazing “eyes”— a perfect specimen of a flower — and so the phrase cane to mean “perfect example” in general.

  47. America seems to be in a metastable equilibrium. Simultaneously it seems as if the elite are consolidating totalitarian control over the country, vaccince passports, digital currency, hate speech laws, deplatforming and ”domestic terrorism” bills, while it also appears that the US is falling apart:

Roves of negro rioters looting and burning cities with impunity. People openly talking about secession, Mexican cartels effectively taking over parts of the country, coming inflation, mass homelessness and debt and impending economic collapse.

Its surreal to see. America strongly resembles the late soviet union. Gerontocracy, elites high on their own propaganda, military overextension, large scale loos of faith in the system, failing economics and former puppet states charting their own course.

Though in fairness, the US also bears a strong resemblance to late Rome. Inflation, poverty, diversity, sexual degeneracy, low birth rates, a bloated and ineffective military, natives unwilling to serve in the military an too weak for service…

Plan A (what actually happened): The officer killed one African princess who was attacking two other African princesses. Box score: one princess dead, two alive and one family wins the ghetto lottery. The locals have an excuse for looting. The Ruling Class gets another pretext for oppressing white people including confiscating their guns.

Plan B (the officer just drives on to Dunkin Donuts and ignores the melee): Two dead African princesses. No ghetto lottery for anybody. No undocumented shopping and no help for the Ruling Class narrative.

Are you seriously saying that you would prefer Plan B?

A difficulty in this one is that too many don’t understand how dangerous a knife is. It’s VERY dangerous. Too much Hollywood krap on disarming knife wielders. No, uh-uh. His (or her) hand is faster than your eye and in split seconds a knife can take you down for good. Bleeding out in gutter anyone? That’s why cops are taught to shoot knifers if they’re within 25 feet. In this case, despite the officer’s brilliant shooting, the outcome will just be to increase police disinterest in ghetto trash rumbles. Really, in the end, who cares if Tanika offs Kum’bahya or vice versa? Who could even tell?

  55. Bell curves? Violent crimes are common enough in the US, but any story in which a cop shoots someone, especially a black person, are going to hit the news headlines these days.

However most people who go about their daily lives do not make a habit of studying crime trends, but may catch a whiff of such stories if they are in the headlines.

I am quite sure that police forces in all major cities in the US know exactly who their clientele is, but police leaders to not seem to coalesce very much to act politically or bring pressure to bear on legislators, where appropriate.

What is the US equivalent of this, a policing conference that “bring(s) together practitioners, policy decision-makers and key policing stakeholders”?

    https://www.polfed.org/conf

    Maybe this:

    https://popcenter.asu.edu/cpop-conference

The annual Problem-Oriented Policing Conference is often described by attendees as the most substantive policing conference they’ve ever attended. Each year, police officers of all ranks, as well as crime consultants and crime researchers, come together to discuss what they’ve learned about trying to reduce different crime and safety problems.

Attendees choose the workshops they’ll attend from an agenda that will feature more than 20 different crime and safety problems. If a black is trying to kill a black, from a numerical point of view, it’s better to let the deed happen. Here’s why:

    1) Black tries to stab another black to death. Before the deed happens, officer shoots knife holder. We have 1 black dead and the media going ape and trying to whip up riots over the shooting.

    or:

    2) Black tries to stab another black to death. Officer moves a little slowly, and black with knife kills other black. Officer shoots black with knife. We can always use as evidence that the murder of one black justifies the shooting, so the cop has far better grounds for using lethal force before society and in a courtroom. He’s more likely to avoid being charged with murder. The media will have a harder time whipping up riots. Total sum dead: 2 blacks instead of 1. This is more benefit to a society burdened with these parasites.

    or

    3) Black stabs other black to death, officer arrives a little late to do anything to stop it, but he still tasers the killer and successfully arrests her. We still have 1 dead black, as in scenario 1, and the media can’t snivel that he killed the killer. This is the same as in scenario 1, but the cop’s not getting into trouble. We’re still stuck with paying to imprison the killer, but it’s cheaper than paying for a lawsuit to the black relatives for the ghetto lottery.

Cops need to save their lightning reflexes for white-on-white crime. They need to stop thinking about what’s best for this situation and start thinking about what’s best for society.

Whatever reduces the greatest number of blacks, and/or reduces the demands for cash to be given to blacks from white pockets, is the most important thing here.

Schoolteachers, and other government “workers”, do NOT “contribute” to their benefits.

The government can give a teacher:

    • $80K, less 20% “tax”
    • $50K “taxable” + $20K in benefits.
    • $85K, and ask them to return some of the money in the form of “tax” and “contributions”.

But if she receives her “pay” in the form of welfare, i.e. she lacks a college degree, then the government can give her food, shelter, healthcare, etc. — $50K worth of stuff — tax free.

When the government keeps its total spending on a teacher at the same amount, yet requires her to use more of that “compensation” for something like benefits, that will leave her with not as much take home pay.

That’s not her “paying more out-of-pocket”. It’s just the government re-prioritizing its spending.

They’ll be back sleeping on the streets in no time, and it’ll cost the city an insane amount of money for their fumbled housing efforts.

You know what would work just as well? Re-institutionalizing the insane and hopelessly addicted. Commit them and lock them up. This was stopped because it was too expensive. Well, it’s gotten to the point where it’s very expensive to use other means to deal with it, such as court-ordered housing. At this point, it’s no worse, money-wise, to set up state mental hospitals again for the poverty-stricken insane and addicted. If you’re going to spend $300 a day to feed and house 1 homeless person–which is almost $110,000 a year per person, you can darned well pay for a fully-staffed state subsidized mental hospital.

  72. I think where we fall in the pink girl narrative depends on whether we see ourselves wielding the knife (should not have been gunned down), or the girl in pink (saved by the police doing their job). I’ll bet most iSteve readers, are like me, the girl in the pink wanting police protection. I am always confused about the outrage about police killing people when I thought that is why we hired them. Most often they don’t have to kill, of course, but I prefer the cops to take out the bad person rather than let the good person be killed (I must think I’m one of the good people). I’m not implying we are not willing to protect ourselves if need be, but we prefer to outsource the job to a competent police force to minimize needing to do the job ourselves. The new narrative is that we better be prepared to do the job ourselves.

Okay, a comment… The silliest name since Holly Golightly. It belongs in a genre novel. Yet it’s real life.

“Tiffany Pomegranate” has to be a fake name. This is her ½-star-out-of-5 review of Sew Deadly, a mystery, on a library’s Web site. Kinda makes you want to read it:

“Cozy Mysteries” is supposedly a genre of murder stories alarmingly shoehorned in to quaint settings. None has been more alarming than this story, set in a Southern town of what one can only fervently hope are very embellished archetypes. Trying to enjoy the quaintness of setting is not merely impossible but uncomfortable among a cast of bigoted, judgmental, accusacatory, small-minded and horrifying human beings. Why an MC from a real city wouldn’t be on the phone to her lawyer the moment some demented hag stood up in a town meeting and directly accused her of murder is beyond any sane person’s grasp.

Try to enjoy the setting, but good luck around the bitches that populate it.No one would elect to live in such circumstances.

Do they even have town meetings in the South? They don’t even have towns. That’s a Yankee thing!

Does it really make any difference if blacks are 8.2 times more homicidal than whites and Asians or if the real factor (vs. non-Latino whites and “fancy” Asians) is 10 or 12 or 20 or even higher*? The main THRUST (as the late Ma’Khia** might say) of Steve’s argument (one that you will NEVER see in the MSM) remains the same.

    * If you look at white rural counties, there are many where the average # of murders per year is zero. Decades may go by between murders. And this despite the fact that the average home in such areas has a veritable arsenal.

** Even if you are black, by what factor do your odds of being involved in a homicide go up if you have a non-standard invented “black” name? Although all black youth, even from high income groups, tend to end up on the wrong side of the law more often than whites, ghetto type blacks most often have these names nowadays and are also the ones most likely to be involved in a homicide. Add to that Ma’Khia’s profile – absent father, mother incompetent to the point where she has lost custody to the social services authorities, and the odds go up even higher. How much greater were the odds that Ma’Khia was going to stab someone vs. a girl named Choon Hee or Isabella who lives with her two parents, just knowing these three factors (race, name and custodial status)? 20x? 40x? 100x? These are hate facts so we are never going to know.

    —-

Officers were called at 9:08 p.m. Monday to Topridge Place in Winton Hills, according to a Cincinnati Police Department release. Police said they found a 13-year-old with a stab wound. The incident happened in the green space between two buildings.

Not another case of the cops arriving a split second early enough to foil an evil plan like in the movies, and Ohio then.

During a verbal dispute, (the teen) pulled out a pocket knife and cut the victim on the right side of her neck causing her death,” court documents state.

Yes, than is a way to kill someone, even someone wearing a Kevlar vest, so the swinging of the knife that the police say Bryant was doing could might have killed, had she actually been trying to cut anyone, or miscalculated. I suspect the Cincinnati 13 year old was trying to cut the other girls face though.

As what was in the mind of the deceased, there a a few indications that nothing much would have happened to the young lady in pinkie had the officer rushed at Ma’Khia Bryant and grabbed her instead of whipping his gun out and yelling at her, which he would had had time to do even if she had been serious. If you doubt that look how close he fired from

This is not going to be shown in police crisis management use of force seminars as an example of perfect reactions, I can tell you that. That fat white girl was not jabbed, stabbed or cut so why would the other one be. But the fat old white cop preferred to go into a perfect shooting stance than risk getting sliced. Putting his hands on a black body was more risky from every point of view. So he just shot her like most of us–including Tom Cruise I dare say–would have in real life. The cop’s actions were neither laudable or reprehensible. The girl had some mental health issues, and got herself killed at a timeframe of massive publicity about killing of blacks, which may have affected her self esteem perhaps. Maybe she wanted to die. That seems more likely than her trying to kill, judging by the predictable outcome of her going crazy waving a knife (instead of keeping it hidden to get close and determinedly use it) as soon as the police arrived.

Mr. Sailer’s blog exists for white interests. Orientals are stepping up in every field of human endeavor so it’s fair that he sees us as competitors. If yellows want a platform for ourselves, we are free to create our own Unz.

The narrative of non-white-on-white violence falls apart in light of the fact that the two most violent events in world history is entirely white-on-white — Eastern Front and WWI (sure, the other ones are yellow-on-yellow).

Same for today, if 250 million white Americans were to unify they would be once again a force to be reckon with. But this won’t happen anytime soon because the origins of all these incidents trace back to unsettled intra-white (specifically intra-Anglo) bad blood, English/American Civil Wars, etc.

And many the gentlemen here still don’t realize that die Eroberer- und Herren Rasse the Conqueror-race of Masters mentality and ethno-masochism are flip-sides of the same coin. I’m sorry, you cannot have your cake and eat it too; its up to you to find a balance. My ancestors had a longer history to draw lessons from, and therefore practiced more moderation with regards to imperialism on less developed races.

So is thus that I don’t believe in a so-called Arctic Alliance— not at all because I have anything against the white European people. For what East Asians have and will accomplish we are forever indebted to Western Civilization…Whites and yellows may have many aligned interests, and would both benefit from a partnership and complementary skill-sets.

But as Bismarck said, Politics is the Art of the Possible, of the Next Best. It’s up for orientals to take our own initiative, and to not rely on validation from whites.

  109. This reminds me of an interesting epistemological question: how do you tell the difference between a man-bites-dog example and an example that shows the kind of thing that can happen when one or more bell curves are shifted to the right of the national average?

Why can’t it be both? Men bite dogs all the time along the East Asian littoral. If it happens on the street rather than in the dining room, it is both an extreme case of a normal (for them) oral behavior, and an oddball case of street behavior.

Females rarely murder other females, but blacks in 2019 were 8.2 times per capita as likely to be known murder offenders as were other races. So the odds are that if we see insane video of a 16-year-old girl trying to carve up 2 other girls into ground chuck even though the cops had already arrived that Knife Girl would be black are quite hight.

Likewise, most of the top female composers, at least in the pop world, were or are Jewish, or half-Jewish. Laura Nyro was half-Jewish, half-Italian, Melanie Safka is half-Ukrainian, half-Italian. (Jews have the IQ, but Italians have the musical chops.)

Ann Ronell was Jewish. Ironically, the standard for which she wrote only the words, “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf”, is much better known than the one for which she wrote the music as well, “Willow Weep For Me”. I’ve never found Bernice Petkere’s ancestry, other than that her parents came from Canada.

(Lest anyone misinterpret, women are often good composers, but rarely great. They’re bunched in the middle of the bell curve, not the left end. This may be what’s holding them back– maybe you can’t be great unless you’re willing to risk being very bad. Some innovations don’t work.)

Sol Sanders’s biography of Soichiro Honda is a quick and entertaining read. For one thing, the man once defenestrated a geisha. (She forgave him.) And his first meetings with Toyoda seem almost Hollywood-screenwritten.

His number-two man was just as interesting, having them market motorcycling rather than motorcycles, which had a bad reputation. He also flew to Bayreuth every year for the Wagner festival. The kind of eccentric entrepreneurs you find in the Anglosphere.

I usually mostly agree w/your posts, SS, but here I must depart.

People we interact with in typical small town USA have neither doubt nor “warped” about who kills who most of the time and for reasons that would only make sense on a Congolese riverside.

The Canuk blogger zymphora nailed this down at least a decade ago when he (she? they?) noted that Americans are nowhere near as clueless as the polls and interviews of “the public” would lead you to believe.

White people specifically: If they are over 20 or so, just by having been aroundd in school, work, or the military, they are perfectly aware that if the USA were a nation of Only Whites, our crime rate would be lower than Switzerland. FBI statistics have proved this since “I LIKE IKE” buttons were fresh and Disneyland was new.

They know the truth. Like Russians knew the truth when Stalin was the boss. Admitting you live in an occupied nation isn’t easy. Lying or changing the subject are defense mechanisms.

Citizen action to alter the nation’s kamikaze course remains a collegiate fantasy. To do that they need a position of power and WHITES DON’T HAVE THAT.

The narrative of non-white-on-white violence falls apart in light of the fact that the two most violent events in world history is entirely white-on-white — Eastern Front and WWI (sure, the other ones are yellow-on-yellow).

WWI had an Eastern Front and it was as bloody as the Western one, if not more.

WWI was troublesome because for the first time in history:

    – Governments had perfected
    – The fine art of extremely nasty made-to-order propganda and
    – The art of harvesting fresh bodies and moving them to the front (complete with local “cops” and killers to make sure these bodies don’t leave)
    – Military had perfected
    – The art of logistics resource management
    – The use of industrial levels of killings
    – Economists had perfected
    – The art of running an economy into the ground (aka. “Total War”)
    – The English had perfected
    – The art of being complete faggots, playing off everybody against everybody, even more so than before

It was all a bit unfortunate. It could have been over by Christmas, Europe wouldn’t have changed all that much, we would have been spared the catastrophe of the Great Socialism, the Bristish Empire might have survived longer and maybe China would have emerged as big Asian winner instead of festering warlord territory twenty years later.

Lately Zeiss Ikon 6x9cm folders. They shoot a huge negative that are a pleasure to pull out of the developing tank. The Zeiss 515/2 circa 1938 is a masterpiece of optimal design. I got one for $10 plus shipping on eBay. Also the 6×4.5 variant, 16 shots to a roll. In addition have been shooting various Russian Leica clones, the Fed 2 being a favorite. Picked up a Moskva 5 Russian Zeiss clone as well. I scan the negatives with a cheap digital camera and an led mood lamp. Have shot rolleiflex which are priced high but produce exceptional image from Tessar lens. Overall though image quality on 6×6 folders tends to be low contrast. Zorki and Fed rangefinders produce surprisingly good images. Recommend paying a little more from reputable seller due to inconsistent Soviet quality control. A decent fed can be had for $60-$120 dollars. Not a Leica but physically the same and gratifying to operate.

I remembered being thrilled, and humbled, that this was all my patrimony. I was younger then, of course, and the company I kept was mostly older than me. There was nothing about the generation of ‘68 that seemed triumphant then. There wasn’t a word about global warming, blacks and whites seemed to me, at that age, to get along ok. There was one Asian girl in my suburban Philadelphia high school. I don’t think I met a Mexican or an Indian until the mid-nineties.
I couldn’t have cared less about politics then, though I never voted for a democrat.
My visits to Ireland were more syncopated. Sometimes yearly, sometimes twice a year, sometimes only every second or third year. That made it easier to see the changes that were ongoing there.
The urban, sophisticated populations have turned on the rural parts of both countries with hatred and contempt. The divide has always been there, I guess. But we are utterly atomized now. I really haven’t considered Democrats as my fellow countrymen in years.

Poverty is never a reason but an outcome. You might be born into poverty, but if, let’s say by the age of 40, you still cannot pay for your very basic needs (a practical definition of poverty), that usually is a sign of being dump, lazy, and incompetent, while any person with a basic level of intelligence, diligence, or skilfulness usually manages to stay out of (absolute) poverty, save for temporary hardships due to natural or man-made disasters and crises. Poverty (not being able to cover your very basic needs) is the manifestation of indolence and idiocy, and not the other way round.
It is my honest observation that, in the long-run, those who work hard and invest their time and resources into their work stay out of poverty while those who talk too much and do less stay trapped in poverty if they were born into it.

None of the people there were scared of her enough to not be standing around her (rather than going in their houses) although they knew she had a knife and was threatening people. The knife in hand throughout the whole incident including both times she charged did make both girls back off when she came at them, but not really like their life depended on it. The hot black one in pink thought she was is more danger from Wyatt Earp’s bullets than the knife, judging by the sudden explosive speed from a standing start she shows when the gunfire started. I concur. Given adrenaline and rapid shots plus people moving after he started firing, the odds of him inadvertently killing pinkie were far from long.

Poor white people probably have same rates as poor blacks.

It is easy to make lazy conclusions absent research. Being poor has little to do with committing crime, despite tear jerking fiction that dates back centuries.

Crime is highly correlated with IQ. The lower, the more likely to be criminal (for males especially).

Go to any prison and evaluate the convicts. Assuming a locale/state with no great unusual distribution of races.

The whites there will test out at mostly sub normal, many very low. Few here encounter such people but there are many of them. Few Asians but those inside are usually not very bright. Hispanics likewise unless in for “commercial” gang related stuff. The blacks too will test lower than normal, most of them.

But if HBD is correct, the average black IQ tests lower than the others, Hence even some of the “above normal” blacks will be below everyone else’s normal. Hence not very smart or willing to overcome laziness to learn something useful.

True, there are a few “smart” ones inside, usually bosses, shot callers, or white collar crooks. Probably fewer of those are black, relatively speaking.

Being “poor” causing crime is a myth, mainly. Sure if you come from ghetto land you have to avoid your tribe dragging you down. But actual Jews in real ghettos were all poor and few become violent criminals. Probably more back then than now. But very few and most became middle class or better in a generation.

Despite myth, few rob and steal to feed the hungry babies. Instead it is drugs and strip clubs.

If you disbelieve this, talk to a CO (corrections officer) or jailer. They are rarely Einsteins themselves but usually much brighter than their charges. Cops catch most criminals because they are stupid and cops a bit smarter.

Good post by you. You keep inter-ethnic matters in perspective

The Japanese were the first to become very good manufacturers after WW2. They studied to death American engineering, our assembly lines and production techniques (W. Edwards Deming who lived to 93)
Today I have the most respect for Taiwanese, stone cold electronics geniuses. Taiwan Semi (TSMC) produces most? of the worlds high end chips. Taiwan started with engineering, manufacturing bulky desktop computers. Then moved to laptops. Then moved to phones. Each step was to smaller devices, to further miniaturization. Taiwan used to manufacture laptops. Now I think this is done in China while Taiwan engineers and designs them. Same for phones.

(Intel still designs CPUs and is building two new foundries in Chandler Arizona –A bright spot for American electronics!)

Korea—– Samsung is a creative monster conglomerate. They make phones as good as Apple’s. I have owned a few Samsung items. I have an LG phone- LG is Korean. All in all, Korea is as advanced in electronics as Taiwan.

China is moving on up to manufacturing computer CPUs. They should be there in a few years. How many Taiwanese CPU geniuses did they poach? Offer them more money to have them spill on clean rooms and everything else? How many CPUs will China sell outside of China when we uncover their CPUs backdoors?

    from 2019:
Mr Scaruffi estimates that China could be as many as 10 years behind the leading producers of high-end computer chips. The majority of chips made for high-end electronics are manufactured by specialist foundries like the Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). It produces more than 70% of chips designed by third party companies

What this case–the video in particular–testifies to is the sheer level of disorder and violence that is an order of magnitude (or more) more common among blacks. Compared to whites, blacks are just much louder and more physical, brawls and beatings and serious violence way, way more common.

There’s no “man bites dog here”. Sure the average black girl never tries to stab anyone. But serious black girl beat downs are routine and there are a decent number of stabbings and a smattering of fatal black girl stabbings every year. The is dog bites girl–just HBD, shifted bell curves at work.

We all know that in this context and many others on iSteve NE Asians are honorary/ defacto Whites.

Indeed, I think Mr. Sailer recently referred to Koreans (in context of the Academic Award) as “white-adjacent” (although a case can be made that he was trying to convey a “whites vs. the rest” narrative there as well).

Nonetheless, I suspect Mr. Sailer prides himself on precision and abhors the inaccurate, Narrative-based “reporting” the mainstream media does, so I would think he would try to be more specific and factual and avoid even the whiff of a narrative-based story-telling rather than pandering to the “whites vs. the rest” crowd.

This is particularly so in context of crimes. Framing the issue as “white vs. nonwhite,” when in reality, the latter category contains people who are less criminally-prone than whites AND the most criminally-prone race, is misleading and deceptive. Since Mr. Sailer is, by self-declaration, not a white nationalist, let alone a white supremacist, this kind of a persistent oversight is curious.

I rather suspect that he is not being malicious so much as being obstinate. I, of course, still think he does very valuable work overall, but he shouldn’t be above constructive criticism.

As I read in some book long ago, the early Chinese ethnic enclaves in the US, though poor, “protected” them from crime, so said the sociologists of the day

Yes, likely true. I think most ethnic immigrants who often settled in groups had self defense groups that helped to protect them. Some probably former police, military.

Especially true when the dominant (white) community couldn’t or didn’t speak their language.

Some gangs that were considered criminal started out as local self defense gangs for residents. Thus gaining them sanctuary and protection from regular police. Such ethnic gangs usually didn’t rob inside their communities other than, perhaps protection rackets and probably gambling.

I don’t think most modern ethnic gangs serve much protection purpose for outsiders. Not that I’ve read about.

    That’s mighty beige of them.

“I have a bad feeling about this.”

As in “for god’s sake, don’t share a taxi or get on the same flight as Manchineel or Sienna”?

If so, then I agree with you. If those two senators are truly all that stands between us and D.C. statehood and/or abolition of the filibuster, then the Deep State will . . . rid themselves of these turbulent priests.

Your family outclassed mine by a mile. All my dad had was a Kodak rangefinder and a Minolta SLR. I backpacked the little Kodak and used it to take panoramas from the tops of fourteeners. I glued the individual, overlapping, panoramic prints together with good results. A few years later, somebody was selling posters that looked just like my panoramas.

To be precise this would a banzai charge. The poetic name being gyokusai 玉砕, “shattered jewel“. Normally accompanied by terrifying screams of Tennōheika Banzai! “Long live His Majesty the Emperor”

The origin of the term is a classical Chinese phrase in the 7th-century Book of Northern Qi, which states “丈夫玉碎恥甎全“ — “A true man would rather be shattered as jewel, than to be intact as tile.”

They unleashed a few gyokusai in Burma Theatre against American-trained Chinese divisions with equal devastating effectiveness as in the Pacific. Here is an example of them do it against Soviet tank units in the Korean movie „My Way“. Today the souls of the spirit warriors are enshrined for all eternity at Yasukuni-jinja in Tokyo

That may well have been Reiser.

Vous êtes très proche, mais vous ne gagnez pas de cigare.

But I’m pretty sure it was either Guillermo Mordillo or perhaps Claire Brétecher mocking Mordillo’s love of giraffes. France lost both of them and Hubert Boulart in the last year or two. Reiser died young in 1983.

Indeed, it was them, who broke the bro code about not subverting enemy countries with commies…

Recognising that these dissidents could cause problems for their Russian enemies, the German government agreed to permit 32 Russian citizens to travel in a sealed train carriage through their territory, among them Lenin and his wife.

maybe China would have emerged as big Asian winner instead of festering warlord territory twenty years later.

This is hard to say, amongst all the Great Powers, maybe except Germans, having a unified China is something to be wary of. The Warlord thing is just like a standard reoccurrence every few hundred years; Russians, Brits, Japs will all pick a side and milk it for all its worth.

It takes time for somebody to emerge with initiative. That man was Chiang Kai-Shek, who in many centuries would have made for a perfectly great emperor. But he happened to be born as the same era as Mao, who was probably a real game changer.

Sacred Heart church in Minneapolis was set on fire during the officer Potter vs Duante Wright riots last week.

Or maybe the FBI DOJ NAACP ACLU ADL AJC and media is cooking up another black church arson spree by the neo Nazis KKK White supremacists as they did some years ago.

The house was probably a group home. All the girls were Wards of the County Court. All the girls were placed in that house by attorneys and social workers by order of the County Court.

The girls had no choice where they lived.

I feel a little career skin in the game might be revelatory about someone with not much time on the force that has already shot a girl of 16 dead. If you were going to be held accountable, you’d no more put Reardon back on the street than I would.

Sometimes there is no one to blame. Maybe America was kicking butt on all cylinders and just lost steam. E Asia is having the same demographic issue with things on the upswing and no concerns about so called „replacement“

I’ve posted before about macrohistory „Empires wax and wane“ with a cycle of maybe 250 years.

The Romans had the same problems with birth rates and immivasion. Eventually Western Empire army was entirely German and just lost its Roman identity. But it not a „Fall“ but rather than a slow decline, and Eastern Roman Empire almost bounced back to reconquer the Western part; until a force of nature showed up of nowhere, i.e. Islam.

And like Mr. Twinkie, I’m not a supporter of further immigration from East Asia,

But Trump should be called out for race-baiting even just on a realpolitik level—

    1. As Japan and SK are US crucial allies, this was a slap to their face exactly when you need counterweights against CCP commies

    2. Koreans who are the most Christian amongst NE Asians, integrates the best and should be a huge asset for the right, if anything you should want more of them in your ranks, instead they are being squeezed for basically no reason

    3. The Sinosphere is pretty disturbed by what’s going on with Woke, baizuo, etc., and can become sympathetic to white demographics problem, instead this makes it easier for them to sign on the white supremacist George Floyd Dindu Nuffin narrative

I would roll with some type of immigration-skepticism platform that can appeal to a lot of non-whites. Letting the pendulum swing back naturally. Demagoguery doesn’t help because you’ll lose any moral high ground.

It’s very very low. Check out the low crime rates of the poorest and Whitest state in the country. West Virginia. Then check out the crime rate in some of the wealthiest and blackest cities in the country; DC NYC and Chicago. I believe Maine is very poor and very White too.

And then you can go to hell and burn forever and ever amen for assuming that Whites who are poor are criminals you petit bourgeois snob.
