Although actual Israelis usually disagree with me on this, I advise paying attention to Israeli policies because they strike me as often being smarter than American policies. From NPR:

Coronavirus: Israel Will Require Quarantine For Everyone Entering The Country
March 9, 20203:12 PM ET
BILL CHAPPELL

Israel is taking the extraordinary step of requiring a 14-day quarantine for anyone entering the country, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday. Israel has reported nearly 40 cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

In a brief video announcing the new policy, Netanyahu said the decision was a difficult one to make. He added that the policy will force people flying into Israel to enter a two-week home quarantine period and that it will be in effect for two weeks.

“Foreign nationals who cannot self-quarantine will be refused entry,” NPR’s Daniel Estrin reports from Jerusalem. He adds, “All Israelis returning from abroad must self-quarantine.”

  1. There are only a very limited number of Jewish People in the world.

After years of white christian persecution it is not unreasonable to make every effort to protect them.

Good timing on your Tiny Dick character, Steve. Humor is important in worrisome times. I hope you guys were able to take in the magnificent full moon last night (and this morning). Its eerie and primal presence in the sky reminds us of our connection to the great mystery.

The cast of Hunters (the good guys, that is) is a lot like CNN: lots of diversity, but no non-jewish white males. (I don't count Chris Cuomo as male)

This crisis is a coughing, wheezing, pneumonia inducing rebuke to all the globalist, open borders nonsense we are deluged with everyday.

  5. Preliminary estimates, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for the current outbreak of flu in the U.S (October 1, 2019–February 29, 2020):

    Cases: 34,000,000–49,000,000

    Medical Visits: 16,000,000–23,000,000

    Hospitalizations: 350,000–620,000

    Deaths: 20,000–52,000

  7. not sure why Trump is waiting so long before banning foreigners from entering.

Trump keeps lauding his decision banning Chinese 5 weeks ago….even yesterday he praised himself several times for banning Chinese , …during The daily task force press briefing yesterday they members took turns praising Trump for banning China travelers about a dozen times in 21 minutes.

If banning travelers from China was prudent on January 30th then banning travelers from Europe and Korea should have been done yesterday….to keep it simple he should just ban all foreigners from entry for the next 2 weeks while we contain the pandemic. Trump needs to protect Americans now before it is too late and stop the thousands of foreigners from infiltrating our population and spreading the corona virus.. To do nothing is gross negligence.

    But “Walls don’t Work”…

If the US had banned all international flights on January 23 for 60 days, we wouldn’t be looking at a pending doom right now.

But the biggest fault lies with China. If China had ground all outbound flights the day they locked down Wuhan, we wouldn’t be looking at this pandemic right now, and the hit to the world economy would’ve been temporary, limited to the supply side. Instead, they whined about other countries not allowing in their travelers, and insisted on continuing to let their people fly everywhere, spreading this virus far and wide. Now Covid-19 will drag on for months, turning this into a demand side problem and likely bring on a world recession. Not only that, but now everybody hates China and the Chinese. In fact, all Asians are now pariahs outside Asia because non-Asians can’t tell them apart. All the work the CCP have done in the past 2 decades to improve their image around the world is destroyed in one month thanks to their greed, hubris and myopia. Dumb.

This should be a lesson for the future. The only way to prevent a pandemic is to wall off the country where the outbreak started, stop all outbound flights from that country immediately. Allow other countries to evacuate their own citizens then quarantine them upon repatriation.

Well, the only source for the story of Purim is the Book of Esther.

And they killed less than 80,000 people in a Persian Empire that covered almost all of the civilized world. That's some "genocide."

  16. The outbreak at AIPAC wasn’t a coincidence, the lead outbreak in the US is in the Orthodox enclave in New Rochelle in Westchester, NYS. One case in a Kansas city suburb with another Orthodox enclave is related to the New Rochelle one, the woman in question having been there. I think the one in Far Rockaway is probably related too.

This is from yesterday showing nearly all the other cases are from much smaller clusters, small single cases or the result of community spread from the New Rochelle outbreak.

The two guys at AIPAC were connected to the New Rochelle synagogue.

With Purim taking place today, the Israelis tried to block or quarantine US and other travellers in the days before, Trump got mad and so they extended it to all travellers so as not to bring particular attention to the US.

    Peter Frost:

Peter Frost: modern medicine has inadvertently made the Chinese population particularly vulnerable to deadly diseases like the Wuhan coronavirus by reducing the prevalence of milder pulmonary infections.

It is known that SARS-CoV-2 hijacks human ACE2. Chinese have much more ACE2.

I think that due to their innate dutifulness and fear of lowering their social credit score in a Chinese Communist Party dictatorship, people in China are surely more likely to go to work with mild flu. Given those two aforementioned factors, the mortality of coronavirus being reported from China was partly due to them being selected for much more ACE2, plus an artifact of Chinese individuals with the virus not reporting themselves sick and thus skewing the epidemiology, which led to underreporting of mild cases. Hence the mortality in Wuhan, before the totalitarian state said everyone who felt sick MUST self isolate, is high for Chinese, and way out the ballpark for non Chinese people.

    , @anonymous
    No, it isn't.

COVID-19 is harder to spread than the flu. South Korea is the gold standard for stats because of the massive number of people they've tested. Their mortality rate is 0.6%. And South Korea is not being heavy handed like the Chinese were. Who knows what else was going on in China that we still don't know about.

    Purim and Genocidal Phantasies

Like any legacy stretching from the Ancient World through the Middle Ages to Modern Times, Judaism is a multifaceted culture: it can be universal as well as nationalist; egalitarian as well as racist; liberal, even revolutionary as well as ultra-conservative – all these messages can be found in it. Among other things, Purim, however, has always reflected deep genocidal phantasies of revenge. The Book of Esther, the textual basis for this holiday, tells the story of the miraculous saving of the Jews of Persia from their enemies, most notably the evil Haman. It ends with the hanging of Haman by the Persian King. Consequently, the Jews take revenge and kill Haman’s ten sons, murder several hundreds of non-Jews in the capital Susa, and then massacre seventy-five thousand non-Jews all over Persia [numbers inflated as usual, ed.]. That’s how the Book of Esther ends. The (probably non-existent) historical foundations of these events are irrelevant: it’s the myth and the memory that matter.

The genocidal roots of Purim go even deeper: Haman, as the short Book of Esther repeatedly stresses, is an “Agagite”, that is, an offspring of Agag. Agag was the King of the ancient Amalekites, the archetypal enemy of the Jews, on which the Bible commands to inflict genocide: “you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; do not forget” (Deuteronomy 25,19). When King Saul sins by sparing King Agag’s life, God regrets He had made him king of Israel, and Prophet Samuel “hews Agag in pieces before the Lord” (I Samuel 15,33).

These are not just idle interpretations for the learned or deep secrets known to the few; it’s all anchored in the liturgical practice of Purim. While the public reading of the Book of Esther is at the heart of the holiday itself, the Torah-text on blotting out Amalek is read in synagogue on the “Sabbath of Remembrance”, the last Saturday before Purim.Once the Arabs are seen as Haman/Amalek, Purim turns into a carneval of incitement against them.

    , @Buck
From the Wiki on the origins of Purim as told in the book of Esther:
"Mordecai and Esther to write another decree as they wish. They decree that Jewish people may preemptively kill those thought to pose a lethal risk. As a result, on 13 Adar, five hundred attackers and Haman's ten sons are killed in Shushan. Throughout the empire 75,000 of the Jewish peoples' enemies are killed.[15] On the 14th, another 300 are killed in Shushan. No spoils are taken.[16]

Mordecai assumes the position of second in rank to Ahasuerus, and institutes an annual commemoration of the delivery of the Jewish people from annihilation.[17]"

So Purim is celebrated for "delivering" the Jewish people by genociding their enemies.

Only rabid Zionists take that view.

(Authentic) Judaism commands Jews to be loyal citizens of their host countries, and to wait faithfully for the day that the Messiah (Moshiach) will end our divinely imposed exile by returning us to the Holy Land. Until then, we are forbidden from establishing sovereignty over the Holy Land. Zionism, from its inception and in all of its forms, was unequivocally condemned by a near-unanimous consensus of the foremost rabbis.

Journalist, author, broadcaster, feminist campaigner Julie Bindel decried the use of smoke bombs by the radical trans activists.

The trans activists claimed they were labelled as ‘scum’ by some of those who attended the march.

Several of the trans protesters were allegedly triggered by women discussing periods at the event but arrived to the protest wearing balaclavas with some brandishing crudely crafted penises on the outside of their trousers while asking women their names and addresses.

Can I interest the ladies in a course of Jew Jitsu to defend against their trans-sisters?

Hmm.. “transistor” is good alias for “women who formerly were men”.

They seemed pretty pissed to be singled out, and somehow I don’t think they are going to really do it. There is a nice, big airbase at Iruma. They should set up tents and feed them MREs for two weeks.

they drunkenly and rowdily celebrate the sadistic genocide of goyim.

There is no genocide of goyim, except in your imagination. And, no, that's not what Purim celebrates.

From the Wiki on the origins of Purim as told in the book of Esther:
“Mordecai and Esther to write another decree as they wish. They decree that Jewish people may preemptively kill those thought to pose a lethal risk. As a result, on 13 Adar, five hundred attackers and Haman’s ten sons are killed in Shushan. Throughout the empire 75,000 of the Jewish peoples’ enemies are killed.[15] On the 14th, another 300 are killed in Shushan. No spoils are taken.[16]

Mordecai assumes the position of second in rank to Ahasuerus, and institutes an annual commemoration of the delivery of the Jewish people from annihilation.[17]”

So Purim is celebrated for “delivering” the Jewish people by genociding their enemies.

    But "Walls don't Work"...

If the US had banned all international flights on January 23 for 60 days, we wouldn't be looking at a pending doom right now.

But the biggest fault lies with China. If China had ground all outbound flights the day they locked down Wuhan, we wouldn't be looking at this pandemic right now, and the hit to the world economy would've been temporary, limited to the supply side. In fact, all Asians are now pariahs outside Asia because non-Asians can't tell them apart.

‘… If the US had banned all international flights on January 23 for 60 days, we wouldn’t be looking at a pending doom right now…’

Bumph. This is going to spread until everyone’s been exposed, then it’ll peak, and then it will decline.

That’s already started to happen in China; South Korea may have peaked as well.

The outbreak at AIPAC wasn't a coincidence, the lead outbreak in the US is in the Orthodox enclave in New Rochelle in Westchester, NYS.

In both fiction and in lived-reality, it's really okay for them to take harsher measures, because Israel is a state for a specific ethnoreligious group that was once persecuted, so it must survive and take necessary measures.

The US and Canada and the EU member-states, meanwhile, are political-entities really designed for everyone, not tied to specific ethnoreligious groups. While of course it's best to save lives, there is less need to be as strict in Countries For Everyone. You understand.

My favourite one was American History X where the 'White Supremacist' character played by Edward Norton is sent to prison for killing Blacks who were trying to steal his car, in which he curb stomped on of the would-be thieves.

He then goes to prison and gets raped by a White gang, one of the Black people in the prison is nice to him and he changed his outlook when he gets out of prison, only to have his younger brother get killed by a pack of Black teens at his high school.

There was allegedly a deleted scene where Norton's character is seen shaving his head again after which the screen fades to black and the viewer is left to ponder over the obvious implication.

    , @gabriel alberton
Assuming it infects 1% of the population the United States across all ages, and that 1% of the cases, overall, result in death, that would already be over 30,000 deaths spread over just a few months. In my country, that'd be 20,000 deaths. I'll leave aside the much larger number of patients which will eventually recover, but not after a hospital stay, and the associated costs.

But talk about a conservative, even optimistic estimate: it possibly won't kill just 1% of the infected. And it will certainly infect more, possibly way more, than 1% of the population in many countries unless it's swiftly contained. That's not just me saying it.

And even if it is contained, it is causing disruption around the world right now. It is not the only pressing matter, and perhaps not even the most important, but it is absolutely a big one.

So, if you are still not interested in it, and/or are still wondering why both sides of the political spectrum are interested, I don't know, or care, how to convince you to or to help you understand why.

The Coronavirus is >10-50x more deadly than the flu. That many cases of it here would mean more than a million deaths and more in need of hospitalization than we have hospital beds.

    That's not fully the case

Once the Arabs are seen as Haman/Amalek,

Only rabid Zionists take that view.

(Authentic) Judaism commands Jews to be loyal citizens of their host countries, and to wait faithfully for the day that the Messiah (Moshiach) will end our divinely imposed exile by returning us to the Holy Land. Until then, we are forbidden from establishing sovereignty over the Holy Land. Zionism, from its inception and in all of its forms, was unequivocally condemned by a near-unanimous consensus of the foremost rabbis.

For more on this and related matters, see this past comment of mine and others in the same thread.

Jews have been traitors to America since the infiltrated the Franklin Roosevelt administration,

They are traitors every where. Just one example, the Dutch Jews admitted to England by Oliver Cromwell. There was a war between England and the Netherlands for most of the 17 th century.
The Jews residing in Netherlands spied on the Netheralnds for England. The Jews residing in England spied on England for the Netherlands.

Eventually, in 1688 the Dutch won that war and put a Dutch Prince, William of Orange on the throne with the help of Jewish usurers. A year later, the Jews took over the finances of England and have controlled British finance and money ever since.

It's the same thing in ever country.

Just looked through the local Jewish Journal. It was all about Esther and Mordechai ordering the slaughter of 80,000 Persians. There were several recipes for pastries representing Hamad’s body parts after the Jews killed him. This included a strip of dough representing a gibbet and noose on top of a bun

The most recent Jewish genocidal fantasy is the Netflix show about a multi ethnic group hunting down blonde blue eyed Nazis.

The Coronavirus is >10-50x more deadly than the flu. That many cases of it here would mean more than a million deaths and more in need of hospitalization than we have hospital beds.

    No, it isn’t.

COVID-19 is harder to spread than the flu. South Korea is the gold standard for stats because of the massive number of people they’ve tested. Their mortality rate is 0.6%. And South Korea is not being heavy handed like the Chinese were. Who knows what else was going on in China that we still don’t know about.

I’ve never heard of a flu that killed multiple high ranking officials in a government (Iran) in a matter of days. Or even the 15+ dead in that one nursing home alone in Seattle, over a matter of days. No flu has done that in my lifetime, no matter how many “preexisting conditions” the victims had...
    , @HA
"COVID-19 is harder to spread than the flu."

Based on what I've been able to dig up, that's just a guess. Note also that the spread of flu is presumably hampered by the large number of people who make the effort to inoculate themselves. There is no COVID-19 vaccine (though it's possible that more common flu strains or vaccines might convey at least partial immunity to COVID-19).

[Is COVID=19 harder to spread than the flu?] Not necessarily. To estimate how easily a virus spreads, scientists calculate its "basic reproduction number," or R0 (pronounced R-nought). R0 predicts the number of people who can catch a given bug from a single infected person, Live Science previously reported. Currently, the R0 for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease COVID-19, is estimated at about 2.2, meaning a single infected person will infect about 2.2 others, on average. By comparison, the flu has an R0 of 1.3.

Perhaps, most importantly, while no vaccine exists to prevent COVID-19, the seasonal flu vaccine prevents influenza relatively well, even when its formulation doesn't perfectly match the circulating viral strains.

Most of the South Korean cases were young people because some weird doomsday cult members (mostly young women in their 20s) intentionally spread it in their personal circles and hangout spots, which tended to consist of other youngish people.

Death rates for this illness increase exponentially past age 40.

    Unsubstantiated until shown otherwise.

Germany's even lower. Yet Italy's much higher. May there be something confounding the case fatality rate statistics? Yes, of course. But while that's not ascertained, one cannot just take the CFR reported in a single country, even with a large number of cases, and, based on it, make policy decisions. Taking the country with the highest CFR and going with it would be wrong, but taking the lowest CFR country and assuming that's it would be potentially deadly to large numbers of people.

Trans activists accused of setting off smoke GRENADES at Labour women’s protest near Grenfell Tower (VIDEOS)

The demonstration, which at times turned violent, was held at the site of the 2017 Grenfell fire in which 72 people died.

The outbreak at AIPAC wasn't a coincidence, the lead outbreak in the US is in the Orthodox enclave in New Rochelle in Westchester, NYS.

This "self quarantine" thing seems pretty leaky. The Japanese news interviewed a bunch of incoming foreigners at Narita airport were told to self quarantine. They seemed pretty pissed to be singled out, and somehow I don't think they are going to really do it. There is a nice, big airbase at Iruma. They should set up tents and feed them MREs for two weeks.

Self-quarantine works perfectly well with disciplined, responsible people. And there is always the police. In Wuhan, police went to check them out. In Italy, fear does it.

  63. Self quarantine works. It works with disciplined people like Koreans, and there is always the police. In China you have the block party member in charge. In Italy, fear keeps people at home. We do not know how it will work in Israel. The neighbors will enforce it.

In Japan all they do is have incoming foreigners from countries in question fill out a form, including whether they have someplace to stay for two weeks, like a hotel or a friend's house. I don't think they contact the place they say they are staying, and I doubt the police are involved. That's a jurisdictional thing that would require a lot of coordination on Japan, which would have been reported in the media.

A lot of foreigners just show up in Japan with no hotel reservations. Unlike the U.S. there are a lot of reciprocal tourist visa relationships you can get at the entry point depending on your country. There's a television show that follows some of these flaky folks around during their travels.

not sure why Trump is waiting so long before banning foreigners from entering.

Trump keeps lauding his decision banning Chinese 5 weeks ago....even yesterday he praised himself several times for banning Chinese , ...during The daily task force press briefing yesterday they members took turns praising Trump for banning China travelers about a dozen times in 21 minutes.

If banning travelers from China was prudent on January 30th then banning travelers from Europe and Korea should have been done yesterday....to keep it simple he should just ban all foreigners from entry for the next 2 weeks while we contain the pandemic. Trump needs to protect Americans now before it is too late and stop the thousands of foreigners from infiltrating our population and spreading the corona virus.. To do nothing is gross negligence.

So a 2 week moratorium on all immigration!
I’ll take just for precedent’s sake; it’ll show that a (much) longer immigration moratorium can be easily implemented and the sky won’t fall in as a result.

It won’t work. We know now that 14 days is not long enough. You need to double that time period.

As for Italy, they’re now at 10,149 cases and their deaths are 631. Their current death rate is 6.2%. These appear to be just Covid-19, and not the deaths they’re counting from people that hospitals have no time or room to treat, such as strokes, heart attacks, trauma victims.

I suspect the Wuhan strain, the L strain, was very likely brought over to Italy with the garment workers, and that’s why it’s been spreading so fast in the latter country. Once recent measure of the Wuhan RO says it was 3.8, meaning 1 person could infect 3.8 people. Since it’s likely the L strain is what’s raging through the garment factories, and thence into the prostitution providers, the L strain is likely not to just hit Italy, but other regional nations which have had men travelling to Italy for sexual tourism.

Anyone who paid attention to how ebola spread in Africa is going to see the parallel. In ebola, travelling males and their interactions with infected prostitutes kept ebola going and spreading for some time. But Covid-19 doesn’t even need sexual contact to spread, so it’s going to infect many more than ebola did.

Italy now has almost 2x the death rate of Iran’s 3.6. That’s crazy, unless the two countries have different strains of virus, or unless the more Puritanical Persians and their habit of wearing clothes like they’re wrapping up packages is helping. Spain, Germany, and France have also had noticeably large jumps since last night. I hope that means the L strain isn’t spreading in those countries, but could easily be wrong.

South Korea still has a death rate of 0.7, which means their measures to control it are working.

But the list of countries that have over 40 cases–which is the flash point–is getting to be longer and longer. Many of the third world countries do not have the medical infrastructure to contain it, and as long as their citizens can keep travelling or sneaking into 1st world countries, they’ll keep bringing the virus right back to us even if we get rid of it here, and they may be carrying mutated and worse strains of it.

Not good. ‘Slow rolling’ the disease is good practice to keep from crushing hospitals under a load of patients they can’t treat, but the longer we spread out the contagion of the disease throughout a world population of 7 billion, the more we will have a probability of seeing mutant and more deadly strains of the virus emerge. In the Spanish flu, the most deadly wave was the 2nd one, not the 1st one.

Right now, it’s a race between the vaccine makers and the virus.

We know now that 14 days is not long enough. You need to double that time period.

14 days is the practical maximum period of voluntary quarantine that can be implemented. Any longer period would lead to people abandoning the effort early or cutting too many corners.

The larger purpose of quarantine is to SLOW the spread of the infection. Even if 14 days is not sufficient to stop infections spreading FROM the quarantined individual entirely, it will at least have prevented the infection spreading from that individual during those 14 days.

Also bear in mind that many individuals in quarantine are not infected at all and with hindsight did not need to be quarantined at all. On the plus side, those "innocent" quarantined individuals will be highly unlikely to have caught the infection while quarantined.

Going forward, testing of quarantined individuals, say on Day 3, should be able to ascertain with a high degree of accuracy whether COVID-19 is present. Those given the all clear can then go back to their normal routine (including the regular risk of actually catching the infection later).

On Israel’s place in the WHO Situation Report for the COVID19 Virus Panic.

The World Health Organization releases a report every day (here is today’s) around evening to late-evening Central European Time, with confirmed-data pegged worldwide to 10am Central European Time the same day. They have staff who work with local authorities and who are tasked spending the day compiling official data in these master lists. It’s useful data.

They group countries by region, with the worst-hit in a given region listed first and descending that way. The Republic of Korea leads the “Western Pacific” group; Italy leads the “European” group; Iran leads the “Eastern Mediterranean” group.

If you read through the WHO’s daily-updated table, you’ll notice that while Lebanon is listed in the Eastern Mediterranean group, its land-neighbor Israel is listed in the European group.

They also created the sub-category of “Territories” for the Eastern Mediterranean group (which extends to Pakistan; India is in the South-East Asia Group). The sole, lonely member is:

    Territories
    Occupied Palestinian Territories**

    […]
** “Territories” include territories, areas, overseas dependencies and other jurisdictions of similar status

So Israel is “European.” But the Palestinians living in the same space are “Eastern Mediterranean.” Got that?

Some of the WHO’s region “calls” are arguable, for sure, even if justifiable for practical or historical-inertia reasons (e.g., ex-Soviet caucuses states; Azerbaijan is also in the WHO’s European group), but Israel in with the European group seems the oddest of all, especially when they shove the Palestinians into the Mideast group.

Must be the result of some real lobby work there.

What the hell does the ADL have to do with the Israeli government? It’s a lefty organization whose primary concern is its own fundraising. Any pro-Israel stances it may profess are a means toward that end.

Killing one's enemies is not genocide and the enemies of Mordecai seem to have been a very specific set of people defined solely by their plot to kills Jews.

In other words, it sounds like Purim celebrates deliverance from enemies. Much as the story of the Red Sea swallowing Pharaoh's army does.

Typifying it as celebrating genocide of the goyim is grimly dishonest. A bit like typifying The Iliad as the poetic and legendary celebration of the genocide of non-Greeks. In fact, that would actually be a bit more appropriate as genocide was actually involved.

There are some posters here who are as fragile as anxiet-ridden old cat ladies when it comes to the Old Testament.

It sure does. Many jewish leaders have said that non self-hating white people are "Amalekites," which means they think we deserve to be murdered by jews for wanting to exist as a people. The jewish religion is based on racial supremacism and is objectively exterminationist.

Before you worship the Self-Chosenites, consider their current holiday, Purim, where they

they drunkenly and rowdily celebrate the sadistic genocide of goyim.

Remember they not only take revenge on goyim who personally criticize them but also

on the children and grandchildren of the offenders. You are engaged in a dangerous

business. If your wife only knew....

Well, the only source for the story of Purim is the Book of Esther.

According to that same source, the Jews only killed those who tried to kill them (with plenty of advance warning that that’s what would happen), and didn’t even touch any property. And they killed less than 80,000 people in a Persian Empire that covered almost all of the civilized world. That’s some “genocide.”

  80. @El Dato
    That's not fully the case

The term ‘genocide’ does not mean what you fancy it means.

On Israel's place in the WHO Situation Report for the COVID19 Virus Panic.

The World Health Organization releases a report every day (here is today's) around evening to late-evening Central European Time, with confirmed-data pegged worldwide to 10am Central European Time the same day. They have staff who work with local authorities and who are tasked spending the day compiling official data in these master lists. It's useful data.

They group countries by region, with the worst-hit in a given region listed first and descending that way. The Republic of Korea leads the "Western Pacific" group; Italy leads the "European" group; Iran leads the "Eastern Mediterranean" group.

If you read through the WHO's daily-updated table, you'll notice that while Lebanon is listed in the Eastern Mediterranean group, its land-neighbor Israel is listed in the European group.

They also created the sub-category of "Territories" for the Eastern Mediterranean group (which extends to Pakistan; India is in the South-East Asia Group). The sole, lonely member is:

    Territories
    Occupied Palestinian Territories**

    [...]
** “Territories” include territories, areas, overseas dependencies and other jurisdictions of similar status

So Israel is "European." But the Palestinians living in the same space are "Eastern Mediterranean." Got that?

Some of the WHO's region "calls" are arguable, for sure, even if justifiable for practical or historical-inertia reasons (e.g., ex-Soviet caucuses states; Azerbaijan is also in the WHO's European group), but Israel in with the European group seems the oddest of all, especially when they shove the Palestinians into the Mideast group.

Must be the result of some real lobby work there.

In various areas, Israel is included with Europe because its neighbors want to have nothing to do with it. That’s why, for example, Israel’s sports teams play in the European leagues (to their disadvantage), and why Israel is under the US European and not Central Command.

I've never celebrated it in my lifetime, it's not a genocide festival, it's never been a big deal, and it's getting phased out or replaced with "Indigeneous Peoples' Day" precisely because of the real issue, which is the characterization. Haman probably never existed and the killing of his people probably never happened, but Jews have celebrated it for ages and will continue to do so. You can't hide mindset behind irrelevant facts.

Sometimes Hollywood films are used to give us dumb goys a message. Remember World War Z and the last country to be affected being Israel?

My favourite one was American History X where the ‘White Supremacist’ character played by Edward Norton is sent to prison for killing Blacks who were trying to steal his car, in which he curb stomped on of the would-be thieves.

He then goes to prison and gets raped by a White gang, one of the Black people in the prison is nice to him and he changed his outlook when he gets out of prison, only to have his younger brother get killed by a pack of Black teens at his high school.

There was allegedly a deleted scene where Norton’s character is seen shaving his head again after which the screen fades to black and the viewer is left to ponder over the obvious implication.

    • Replies: @J.Ross
The deleted scenes I remember were a "they deserve it" comedy violence scene of the old mentor and the fat friend pursued by grinning blacks, and one where attacking a homeless black woman, interfering with her possessions, and threatening to kill her aren't that big a deal, but then the little scamps say a certain word and she starts crying.
AHX isn't really about Nazis (there are none), it's actually defending the completely indefensible effort to lower qualifications for firemen. Within the story the reason Norton's character hates blacks is his fireman dad died after mandatory diversification -- but not before implanting the seeds of bigotry (and/or competence) into his impressionable son by complaining about, y'know, seeing how dumb you can make an emergency responder before people die. The Nazis are a fantasy caricature and warning to any whites who might doubt the wisdom of diversity policies. The moral of the story is not that you're an evil anachronism if you wear certain gang colors, it's that you're a Nazi if you think people should be able to do what they are paid for.

“COVID-19 is harder to spread than the flu.”

Based on what I’ve been able to dig up, that’s just a guess. Note also that the spread of flu is presumably hampered by the large number of people who make the effort to inoculate themselves. There is no COVID-19 vaccine (though it’s possible that more common flu strains or vaccines might convey at least partial immunity to COVID-19).

[Is COVID=19 harder to spread than the flu?] Not necessarily. To estimate how easily a virus spreads, scientists calculate its “basic reproduction number,” or R0 (pronounced R-nought).

Perhaps, most importantly, while no vaccine exists to prevent COVID-19, the seasonal flu vaccine prevents influenza relatively well, even when its formulation doesn’t perfectly match the circulating viral strains.

In fact, all Asians are now pariahs outside Asia because non-Asians can't tell them apart.

But the biggest fault lies with China. If China had ground all outbound flights the day they locked down Wuhan, we wouldn’t be looking at this pandemic right now, and the hit to the world economy would’ve been temporary, limited to the supply side.

Considering the lack of information and awareness of grave consequences in January unlike now, Chinese missteps should fairly be judged less harshly than for example Trump refusing to ground daily flights from Milan or Seoul to the US.

The fatality rate in Italy now is 6.2%. It rises when the number of cases exceeds your hospitals’ capacity.

  99. @Anon
It won't work. We know now that 14 days is not long enough. You need to double that time period.

As for Italy, they're now at 10,149 cases and their deaths are 631. Their current death rate is 6.2%. These appear to be just Covid-19, and not the deaths they're counting from people that hospitals have no time or room to treat, such as strokes, heart attacks, trauma victims.

I suspect the Wuhan strain, the L strain, was very likely brought over to Italy with the garment workers, and that's why it's been spreading so fast in the latter country. Once recent measure of the Wuhan RO says it was 3.8, meaning 1 person could infect 3.8 people. Since it's likely the L strain is what's raging through the garment factories, and thence into the prostitution providers, the L strain is likely not to just hit Italy, but other regional nations which have had men travelling to Italy for sexual tourism.

Anyone who paid attention to how ebola spread in Africa is going to see the parallel. In ebola, travelling males and their interactions with infected prostitutes kept ebola going and spreading for some time. But Covid-19 doesn't even need sexual contact to spread, so it's going to infect many more than ebola did.

Italy now has almost 2x the death rate of Iran's 3.6. That's crazy, unless the two countries have different strains of virus, or unless the more Puritanical Persians and their habit of wearing clothes like they're wrapping up packages is helping. Spain, Germany, and France have also had noticeably large jumps since last night. I hope that means the L strain isn't spreading in those countries, but could easily be wrong.

South Korea still has a death rate of 0.7, which means their measures to control it are working.

But the list of countries that have over 40 cases--which is the flash point--is getting to be longer and longer. Many of the third world countries do not have the medical infrastructure to contain it, and as long as their citizens can keep travelling or sneaking into 1st world countries, they'll keep bringing the virus right back to us even if we get rid of it here, and they may be carrying mutated and worse strains of it.

Not good. 'Slow rolling' the disease is good practice to keep from crushing hospitals under a load of patients they can't treat, but the longer we spread out the contagion of the disease throughout a world population of 7 billion, the more we will have a probability of seeing mutant and more deadly strains of the virus emerge. In the Spanish flu, the most deadly wave was the 2nd one, not the 1st one.

Right now, it's a race between the vaccine makers and the virus.

The Chinese garment workers are in Prato, Tuscany. There are few cases in Tuscany. So I doubt the zero patient is among them. This blog really likes jumping to conclusions from any coincidence involving immigration.

Hm, it sounds like Israel is run by serious people who care about Israelis.

Aside, it seems that Globalism Uber Alles has their online army working to stamp out any fears of COVID-19 and of open borders causing a pandemic. Every article I've been reading about the virus, that allows comments, seems to have comments likening COVID-19 to the common cold. It's like no-one ever heard of the Chinese Government's rush to build new "hospitals" to warehouse their deluge of critically ill patients. It's not the common cold.

Like those in the State of Israel, the elites in the People’s Republic of China care about their own.

So do our own rulers, of course. They just don’t see us as part of their own.

My wife works for one of the EU institutions and her boss has coronavirus with symptoms. He was only in the office one day while being contagious and she had a small meeting scheduled with him that she had to miss at the last minute. I told her she may regret this as being an early adapter could be a good idea in this case. The hospitals are clear so far in Brussels. Her boss had many meetings that day including a very large meeting with lots of senior ambassador types.

That’s too bad. What we need right now is for every non-Brusselsian in Brussels to stay healthy until the ICUs are full, then get sick and crash. It would be criminal if they took up the ICU beds of decent people.

The deleted scenes I remember were a “they deserve it” comedy violence scene of the old mentor and the fat friend pursued by grinning blacks, and one where attacking a homeless black woman, interfering with her possessions, and threatening to kill her aren’t that big a deal, but then the little scamps say a certain word and she starts crying.
AHX isn’t really about Nazis (there are none), it’s actually defending the completely indefensible effort to lower qualifications for firemen. Within the story the reason Norton’s character hates blacks is his fireman dad died after mandatory diversification — but not before implanting the seeds of bigotry (and/or competence) into his impressionable son by complaining about, y’know, seeing how dumb you can make an emergency responder before people die. The Nazis are a fantasy caricature and warning to any whites who might doubt the wisdom of diversity policies. The moral of the story is not that you’re an evil anachronism if you wear certain gang colors, it’s that you’re a Nazi if you think people should be able to do what they are paid for.

Don’t Get Her Wrong: The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde Writes Letter to Trump Supporting Julian Assange

The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde is never shy about speaking out. That’s why we love her. She wrote a long Tweet today to Donald Trump supporting Julian Assange and protesting his extradition. Chrissie also says she allowed Rush Limbaugh to use her song “My City Was Gone” because her father loved listening to him. I always wondered why she didn’t stop him.

She writes “The other day when you gave that award to Rush Limbaugh, my father would have been so delighted. He loved listening to Rush, which is why I allowed my song, ‘My City Was Gone’, to be used on his radio show.
My father and I didn’t always see eye-to-eye. We argued a lot..
but isn’t that the American way? The right to disagree without having your head chopped off?Soon, I will be participating in a protest in London against the extradition of #JulianAssange (@wikileaks). I know my father would be mortified, but I feel strongly enough to do what I believe is the right thing; to protest further punishment of a man who sought to defend Freedom, albeit in a way you rightly disagree with. I know Mr. Assange broke the law (as i have done defending the treatment of animals) but I believe [ he has been duly punished and should now be set free.
    Please consider my plea.

The only thing that works is quarantine. In the Middle Ages, some Italian towns saved themselves from the plague by a policy of immurement: any house where plague appeared was bricked up, with the people inside.

Traditional Italian values have much to teach us.

On the plus side, those “innocent” quarantined individuals will be highly unlikely to have caught the infection while quarantined.

Going forward, testing of quarantined individuals, say on Day 3, should be able to ascertain with a high degree of accuracy whether COVID-19 is present. Those given the all clear can then go back to their normal routine (including the regular risk of actually catching the infection later).

Self quarantine works. It works with disciplined people like Koreans, and there is always the police. In China you have the block party member in charge. In Italy, fear keeps people at home. We do not know how it will work in Israel. The neighbors will enforce it.

In Japan all they do is have incoming foreigners from countries in question fill out a form, including whether they have someplace to stay for two weeks, like a hotel or a friend’s house. I don’t think they contact the place they say they are staying, and I doubt the police are involved. That’s a jurisdictional thing that would require a lot of coordination on Japan, which would have been reported in the media.

A lot of foreigners just show up in Japan with no hotel reservations. Unlike the U.S. there are a lot of reciprocal tourist visa relationships you can get at the entry point depending on your country. There’s a television show that follows some of these flaky folks around during their travels.

In fact, all Asians are now pariahs outside Asia because non-Asians can't tell them apart.

Last weekend I was in New Orleans.

German, Korean, and Chinese (!) tourists EVERYWHERE. No precautions. They are using their national economic slowdowns and work place international travel bans (I don’t live in NOLA but within a reasonably short distance and in a city near lots of German-owned plants, they’ve had work-related travel bans in place for their employees for nearly 2 weeks now) to take personal vacations.

And now a case in Jefferson Parish…

    No, it isn't.

COVID-19 is harder to spread than the flu. South Korea is the gold standard for stats because of the massive number of people they've tested. Their mortality rate is 0.6%. And South Korea is not being heavy handed like the Chinese were. Who knows what else was going on in China that we still don't know about.

Most of the South Korean cases were young people because some weird doomsday cult members (mostly young women in their 20s) intentionally spread it in their personal circles and hangout spots, which tended to consist of other youngish people.

Death rates for this illness increase exponentially past age 40.

    • Replies: @Sean
South Korea had conducted a table-top exercise on a coronavirus outbreak in December 2019. The cases have mainly been among this cult membership, who are disproportionately young. Currently the South Korean death rate is 0.7% compared to Italian death rate of 3-4%.

The average age of the population is six years more in Italy but it seems the Italian age-adjusted death rate is indeed much higher. Korea seems to have the old people for a lot of deaths.

Anyway the key point is they are the coach for now, and everyone is going to be doing it like South Korea and South Korea has used testing and home quarantine, not cordoned off entire cities like China, and Italy to an extent. Italians are not as subservient as Koreans through.

Lipkin the top US man in the field (told to stay home for couple of weeks after he got back from a Jan visit to Wuhan to find out about the outbreak) said "this virus is probably going to be with us for some time to come. It might become endemic, like measles."

What the hell did the Bund have to do with Germany? This is a completely separate and distinct organization which just happens to aggressively advocate on behalf of a foreign country, but that doesn't make them, y'know, like, connected or anything.

You obviously have the ADL confused with some other organization; they certainly don’t spend much of their time “aggressively advocating” for Israel.

  133. @Coag
This “flu strain” that caused the People’s Republic of China to shut down its industry and sabotage its own economy in a panic in a very, very out-of-character way, that killed multiple high ranking government officials in Iran in a matter of days, that caused Mecca to be closed (has that happened *ever*?!), that is now causing Italy to totally shut down and sabotage its own lucrative tourism industry....given the dramatics we’ve seen in the past month I would say this mischievous little virus has truly earned the fascination people have for it, all across the political spectrum!

It is also fascinating in that it killed many thousands among a billion, may be a thousand in another billion and practically nobody among other 6 billion humans. What other virus has done that before?

Then it’s odd that absolutely no one in the GOP dares call out the ADL as they do Soros.

Protective onomastics at work. Attacking an "anti-defamation" group implies you are pro-defamation.

Whereas the name "Soros" is post-Jewish. It's Esperanto. Really.

When have you ever heard someone decried as "anti-Esperantist"? (Other than the few remaining champions of Volapük, that is.)

… the name “Soros” is post-Jewish. It’s Esperanto. Really.

Hungarian. Georg Schwartz’s father Hungarianized the name to György Soros – “soros” meaning black in Hungarian. It may be true that Schwartz Sr. was an Esperanto enthusiast.

Caveat – nobody really knows anything about Georg Schwartz’s life before he showed up as “George Soros” in London in the early 1950s along with all the other flotsam and jetsam thrown up by the war. We do have his own confession that he was an active collaborator with the Nazis. From this, Schwartz understandably derived the life lesson that it is better to join a totalitarian clique than to find oneself out in the cold as one of the clique’s enemies.

Soros was 14 when the war ended so if he was a Nazi collaborator (he wasn't) he was a very junior one. What really happened was that his words have been distorted and twisted to make it seem as if he collaborated. I don't like Nazi collaborators and I don't much like Soros either, but calling him a collaborator is ridiculous.

Soros (pronounced Shorosh) means "next in line" or "designated successor" in Hungarian, e.g. the VP is next in line for the Presidency.
  135. @Eagle Eye

This is the point of shutting things down like Italy has done. Give people fewer reasons to leave home. They played a Champions League game in an empty stadium there today.

The State exists, explicitly, to secure the existence of the people. It was created, in modernity, for that purpose.

American State exists to make the line go up.

“Line go up”? What does that mean?

At whose pleasure does the American State exist?

America is an economy masquerading as a nation

The State exists for investors, who may or may not be the citizens.

Are Anatidae even kosher? Does a rabbi have to accompany you to the duck blind?

Anatidae are generally kosher provided they are slaughtered in kosher way (cutting of esophagus/trachea in one motion with super sharp straight edge blade). Shooting renders even kosher animals/birds non kosher despite rabbinical quorom in duck blind.

As I recall, if the knife goes too far and cuts into the spinal cord, the meat is treif. So when butchering Tiny Duck, it is important to use a straight and super sharp, but not too big blade, perhaps?

Most of the South Korean cases were young people because some weird doomsday cult members (mostly young women in their 20s) intentionally spread it in their personal circles and hangout spots, which tended to consist of other youngish people.

Death rates for this illness increase exponentially past age 40.

Lipkin the top US man in the field (told to stay home for couple of weeks after he got back from a Jan visit to Wuhan to find out about the outbreak) said “this virus is probably going to be with us for some time to come. It might become endemic, like measles.”

BTW, this guy Netanyahu is instructive to watch.

I don't have a dog in that territorial pissing match--not a Semite of any stripe--so i don't get too lathered up about the claims of either side.

But i gotta admire the way Netanyahu acts like he cares about his people--builds walls, kicks out foreigners, slaps on quarantines. The guy is a walking rebuke to pretty much everything that prominent Jews in America tell us--lecture us--to do. In fact, the only conceivable commonality is ... "What's good for the Jews."

Maybe gentiles should wake up and smell the coffee.

Jews have been traitors to America since the infiltrated the Franklin Roosevelt administration,

Wow, only since 1933. You are clearly a moderate. Many here would say that Jews have been traitors to America since 1621 if not 1492. Perhaps even earlier.

    Unsubstantiated until shown otherwise.

Germany’s even lower. Yet Italy’s much higher. May there be something confounding the case fatality rate statistics? Yes, of course. But while that’s not ascertained, one cannot just take the CFR reported in a single country, even with a large number of cases, and, based on it, make policy decisions. Taking the country with the highest CFR and going with it would be wrong, but taking the lowest CFR country and assuming that’s it would be potentially deadly to large numbers of people.

He and his father were collaborators. Not implicated in anyone being killed as far as I'm aware, but very much implicated in property seizures. I don't think it would be an issue with anyone bar (1) his political intrigues and (2) that he skates completely while various agencies are pursuing nonagenarians (among them a minor camp guard and a bookkeeper). Note also, Soros agencies are active in quite a menu of countries. He should have little or nothing to do with the civic life of any country but his own. (Is that Britain? The U.S.?). I’d like to see a post analyzing why some people are hyper-interested in this specific flu strain. Seems to cross the political spectrum. Leftists obviously, boomers predictably, but also alt-right types?

Assuming it infects 1% of the population the United States across all ages, and that 1% of the cases, overall, result in death, that would already be over 30,000 deaths spread over just a few months. In my country, that’d be 20,000 deaths. I’ll leave aside the much larger number of patients which will eventually recover, but not after a hospital stay, and the associated costs.

But talk about a conservative, even optimistic estimate: it possibly won’t kill just 1% of the infected. And it will certainly infect more, possibly way more, than 1% of the population in many countries unless it’s swiftly contained. That’s not just me saying it.

And even if it is contained, it is causing disruption around the world right now. It is not the only pressing matter, and perhaps not even the most important, but it is absolutely a big one.

So, if you are still not interested in it, and/or are still wondering why both sides of the political spectrum are interested, I don’t know, or care, how to convince you to or to help you understand why.
