From NBC News:

Violence against Asian Americans and why ‘hate crime’ should be used carefully

Social media posts have conflated violence against people who are Asian American with hate crimes against the community at large, tying the crimes to pandemic racism.

Feb. 25, 2021, 7:44 AM PST / Updated Feb. 25, 2021, 1:44 PM PST
By Kimmy Yam

As the recent wave of attacks on older Asian Americans prompts calls for action and activism, experts urge the use of precise, accurate language in discussing the violence.

The robberies and assaults in several big-city Chinatowns have led to significant media coverage and outcry from activists, many of whom have labeled the incidents hate crimes. But recent higher-profile cases that have gone viral on social media aren’t being investigated as such, law enforcement officials say. Officials say the occurrences don’t show signs of being racially motivated.

Social media posts have conflated violence against people who are Asian American with hate crimes against the community at large, tying the crimes to pandemic-related racism. Some sources have declared a “spike” in hate crimes, citing an astronomical increase. But the figure they refer to specifically reflects New York City and New York police data obtained by NBC Asian America, which showed three anti-Asian hate crimes in 2019 and 28 last year. No hate crimes were reported this year so far. …

Regardless, Asian Americans have every right to their fear and anger at this time, said Michael Eric Dyson, a race and religion scholar at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. …

Dyson said that when cases aren’t determined to be hate crimes, “we want to be a bit reserved to make certain we’re not unnecessarily inflaming tensions and undue hostilities.” He said prematurely declaring them as such, particularly because the suspects in some cases have been Black, can have a deleterious effect.

Incorrect use of “hate crime” labeling “can have a negative impact on either side, on reinforcing the vicious stereotype of the natural Black inclinations for crime and that we’re thugs,” Michael Eric Dyson said. “And on the other hand, alerting Asian communities or heightening their awareness about their safety and security may be sending a false signal that there is a nonexistent attempt on the part of some Black communities to target Asian brothers and sisters.”

“It can have a negative impact on either side, on reinforcing the vicious stereotype of the natural Black inclinations for crime and that we’re thugs,” he said. “And on the other hand, alerting Asian communities or heightening their awareness about their safety and security may be sending a false signal that there is a nonexistent attempt on the part of some Black communities to target Asian brothers and sisters.”

Dhingra said Asian Americans can be targeted for a variety of reasons, not solely because of racial animus. Assailants could perceive them as easy or lucrative targets, instead.

After all, it could be that blacks attack Asians far more than Asians attack blacks (blacks were 18.7 times more likely per capita in NYC in 2020 to rob Asians than Asians were to rob blacks) not because blacks hate Asians more than they hate other people but because blacks, on average, are so much bigger, stronger, faster, and more impulsively violent than are Asians.

…Violence hasn’t been restricted to the Asian American community. Law enforcement statistics show that homicides in major cities have risen at alarming rates across the board; advocates attribute the crimes to the environment created by the pandemic and poverty.

The huge increase in murders in the days following the death of George Floyd couldn’t have had anything to do with the media-celebrated Racial Reckoning.

Chicago police, for example, reported about a 50 percent increase at the end of 2020 compared to the previous year, with 750 murders.

That Chicago had its most single most murderous weekend in its 60 years of reliable record-keeping, with 25 dying, the weekend after George Floyd’s death couldn’t have had anything to do with the protests. They were mostly peaceful!

Dyson said he understands why people are tempted to connect the incidents to the rampant anti-Asian sentiment tied to the pandemic. He said that with Donald Trump’s perpetuation of the “Chinese virus” discourse in the political bloodstream, the Trump administration had “unleashed the floodgates of anti-Asian sentiment.”

When blacks attack Asians during the Biden Era, the one thing we can know for sure is that it’s all Trump’s fault.

… Dyson said the Black community, like others, hasn’t been untouched by the Trump administration’s incendiary rhetoric. And just as the Asian American community isn’t immune to perpetuating anti-Blackness, the Black community can be vulnerable to absorbing the anti-Asian discourse.

“Just because Black folk have been oppressed themselves doesn’t issue a carte blanche, so to speak, exempting us from looking at whatever possible internalization of certain elements of our community, of the hostility toward Asian folk in regard to the ‘Chinese virus’ and the way in which that discourse targets AAPI folk with such vicious particularity,” he said.

Dyson said history has shown that marginalized communities can be manipulated by white supremacy and that communities of color must be vigilant.

An alternative explanation is that blacks aren’t particularly more or less hostile toward Asians, but instead blacks have just become more murderous during the Racial Reckoning. If murders were up about 30% overall in 2020, it’s likely that murders by blacks were up 40% or more. So, yeah, with The Establishment telling blacks that they ought to feel angry and that their anger is more than justified, blacks are likely killing more blacks, whites, Hispanics, and Asians.

  1. Hate crime as a concept was made up to be able to attack white people (and the Constitition) and black people aren’t white. See also “blacks can’t be racist.”

    @J.Ross

They are using the same excuses to not label black on Asian crime as "hate crimes" as the refusal to call black on white atrocities "hate crimes."

One apologia I saw used by Earl Ofari Hutchinson was "blacks attack whites in order to steal their valuables." This one is now being trotted out for brutality by blacks toward Asians.

Dyson and company are now beginning to blame "white supremacy" for black on white murder.

    @J.Ross

Yep, JR, only whites can commit so-called hate crimes. All other groups love each other, intensely. When Whitey is seen off, human life will be a 24/7/365 love-fest.

  2. So the laboratory carelessness virus didn’t unleash a flood of anti-Asian sentiment, and the voluntary elimination of small businesses didn’t either, but Trump correctly identifying where the virus had originated did unleash this sentiment. Okay.

  3. Given where so many of these attacks are taking place — places like San Francisco and New York — why isn’t it just as likely that recent public criticism of Asian-majority magnet schools as “racist” against Blacks is driving heightened anti-Asian animus in the Black community? Some of the attacks seem like they have no conventional criminal motive. They’re just random attacks on elderly Asians. It’s not like the string of attacks on old Asian ladies a few years ago when it was apparent that they were getting targeted because they were more likely than average to be walking around with a lot of cash.

    • Replies: @Alden
    @Gimeiyo

Don’t know about other cities, but in San Francisco, elderly Asians are being attacked because most of the elderly Whites moved out of the city long ago. Black yout rob and attack the elderly. Because the elderly can’t defend themselves.

That’s all you unspeakable obscenities liberals looking for a motive. Covid hoax should have resulted in substantially fewer street crimes due to the lockdown. But black yout will be black yout. With the bars clubs movies restaurants closed, there were fewer men victims out and about alone at night.

Without nighttime bar hopping evil White men men victims, the poor pathetic unfortunate black yout were forced to rob and murder elders and women in daylight.

It’s all the fault of covid hoax lockdowns keeping the usual males out at night robbery victims home.

    That’s all

When the lions see an old limping antelope, they attack. There is no thought process. There is only attack.
I was reading an article in National Geographic about giraffes, researchers were studying their patterns. They would number them with white paint to keep track of individuals, but the lions kept killing those ones that they marked. So the researchers had to switch to radio tags. The giraffes were perfectly healthy, the white paint marks were just a perceived deformity, & the lions took them out. I understand that we all need to be wearing face masks, it lowers transmission rates & keeps more people alive over longer periods of time. But there is something odd & peculiar about them. They partially veil the face, they betray timidity . Our reptilian brain stems perceive them as deformities & signs of weakness. This isn’t racist, everything doesn’t have to be of or about racism. Sometimes the lions are just killing the giraffes with white paint marks on them because that’s what lions do.
  4. ‘Is Black-On-Asian Violence a Hate Crime or Just Blacks Acting Black?’

Predatory behavior against other people (including other blacks) is central to Bantu African behavior and culture. It travels where Bantus go. If you have Bantus, you have lots of violent crime and lots of violently criminal, and incompetent, government.

If we could get rid of all the blacks in the US who are Bantu in genes and culture (which is 95%) and replace them with Coptic Ethiopians and dark skinned Coptic Egyptians, we would eliminate half of our black problems overnight.

Of course, if we replaced our Bantus with Ethiopian, Sudanese, and Somali Moslems (who are NOT Bantu), we would have as much black trouble as we have with Bantus, but its focus would have become about the problems inherent in Islamization.

As the middle-eastern cabbies in Berkeley told me in ‘05 when I asked them about U.S. blacks: “there’s something wrong with those people.”

  5. Is Black-On-Asian Violence a Hate Crime or Just Blacks Acting Black?

One easy test is to ask whether or not there’s any other group in the world which is not victimized by black violence when given the chance. And the answer is: no, there’s no such group (including blacks themselves); there’s never been any such group, and from the looks of things there never will be.

It gives me no pleasure to say such things, but by systematically blinding ourselves to inconvenient facts our society ensures that they will worsen, not improve.

    True, that.

IMO, one of the greatest failures to this very day within the Anglosphere is not having dealt with chattel slavery and its trade in a truthful manner, and rather than abolishing it, as claimed, instead monetized* it via the introduction of that institution's more malignant manifestation, wage slavery, ie specifically the so called cheap labor/mass immigration system, the economic and political basis of the 'progressive' Multi-Cultural society.

And, then, to have compounded this great error (if such were possible) by forcing this ungodly system upon much of the rest of the world.

Black violence is non-denominational. They attack blacks the most then work their way though the other races and ethnicities. When they assault non-blacks there is often a hate crime component and jealousy. 90% of the time.
Their ideal place, move to Africa where we all know there is no racism, no whitey to oppress them and their amazing talents. It's the inter tribal hatreds that can get you killed there or make your life miserable. Or have the other tribe lop off your hand or limb or two with a rusty old machete.

Maybe the white male Democrats see themselves as the order givers (current and/or future) and see imported tech workers as order takers.

Politics in the U.S can be thought in terms of the patron-peon system of South America. The Democratic Party is made up of the patron class and those who understand that they are in the peon class. The Republican Party is made up of those who understand that they stand little chance of being in the patron class and do not want to be in the peon class.

  7. My impression is that blacks confidence hustlers view Asians as easier marks for various schemes to separate them from their money. I assume this because of higher levels of Asian politeness, a high level of social anxiety exacerbated by confusion, and general second-language issues that make them particularly prone to that same confusion. They may also see Asians as more timid and easily cowed.

I don’t guess this hate, per se, but then again black street criminals don’t need much of a reason to gin up feelings of hostility and aggression toward anyone who wanders into their territory.

    – Yes Asians have every right to their fear and anger at this time.
    – But there are really no attacks.
    – So there is no need to alert anyone.
    – These are not hate crimes either.
    – And Asians are our brothers and sisters.
    – There is no cause for alarm.
    – The attacks may also be due to Asians perceived as easy prey.
    – Asians can be racist too, so there is that.
    – Blacks could have become racist due to anti-Asian Trum prants.
    – And anyhow it’s all whitey’s fault because the transgressive discourse disproportionately affects marginalized communites.

There's this minoritarian propaganda incantation, uttering "stereotype" as if that will cast out demons, and get people to not believe the statistical knowledge they've pick up.

But is there a single "stereotype" that is actually wrong? I don't mean individually. (I'm half Irish and don't have a drinking problem ... most days.) But statistically false. (I can introduce you to a couple of my cousins.)

People might create or repeat stereotypes about other people for reasons of enmity, but they pick things that have some purchase. For instance, the French or British didn't come up with "Oh those Germans, so carefree and lazy. You just can't get a decent days work out of 'em."

Not really. Hispanics aren't a race, and the Hispanic males marrying white women are mostly white Hispanics, particularly east coast Hispanics like Cubans. A much smaller number of the white-Hispanic intermarriages involve a nonwhite Hispanic male. On the other hand, white men do marry non-white Hispanic women.

  26. As the recent wave of attacks on older Asian Americans prompts calls for action and activism, experts urge the use of precise, accurate language in discussing the violence.

I would love to see anyone attempt to support critical race theory and the panoply of progressive projections in “precise, accurate language.”

You know something is nonsense when writing about it clearly means refuting it.

  27. Hm, looks to me like another fine example of how the squabbling between the two Officially Allowed Parties achieves nothing–indeed is meant to be toothless distraction, with iSteve merrily playing along. The Dems incited against whites, yelling “Russia, Russia, Russia”; Trump incited against Asians, yelling “China, China, China”. Sure, the former is wrong, but it doesn’t excuse the latter; how does either help Americans get their own house in order?

More generally, Trump’s been in charge for the past four years; the country was governed by his people. How does he not bear responsibility? He could have, say, purged the Critical-Race-Theory cult from the Dept of Education right upon taking office, setting the tone throughout the federal govt like Biden is doing now for his agenda. Instead, Americans got muh “most pro-Israel govt in history”, and some feeble rear-guard action against the CRT poison only when Trump saw he was going to lose re-election–remembering for the first time since 2016 that voters also exist.

Yelling about China/Russia by Reps/Dems is a jointly agreed upon distraction from what we'd be doing if America wanted to get our house in order, which would be yelling "Jews, Jews, Jews".
    , @nebulafox
    @Ma Laoshi

I 100% agree that Americans are the ones who have deeply screwed up America and that America's overwhelming priority must be domestic reform before we lose everything. Blaming foreigners for pursuing their own national interests is a cop-out, and exactly the kind of shallow distraction strategy that you'd better believe the Usual Suspects will try to pursue, as events in the Middle East are currently showing.

But it's ludicrous to suggest that Russia (or Iran) is an equal, let alone more pressing problem than the PRC. I'm sure that for the Democrats, part of this is the fact that Putin simply fits their world-view too well: he is the Scary White Christian Caveman from their nightmares. But tellingly, neither Russia nor Iran has the same kind of relationships with the same elites who have screwed up America as China has had over the past 30 years, so it actually isn't surprising that they would prefer to be hostile to the former. Who knows how much treachery would be revealed if the true level of rot in our economic elites in particular saw the light of day?

More generally, Trump’s been in charge for the past four years; the country was governed by his people. How does he not bear responsibility?

Your impression of the Trump years was that the country was governed by his people? There is scarcely a federal agency from the DOJ to the IRS to the EPA to the CIA to the FDA to the State Dept.that didn't try to stab him in the back. The senior civil service layer in all these agencies were actively conspiring against him and these are just the ones we know about. It's a pretty safe bet that, like the proverbial iceberg, 90 percent of these cabals are submerged below the swamp waterline and never come to light. The virtual impossibility of building a viable third party meant that many of his appointments were going to be ,if not swamp creatures, at least marshland denizens of one sort or another. Add that to the difficulty of imposing one's will on the civil service in the time frame of one presidential term and it's remarkable that he was able to accomplish anything at all. That being said, I wouldn't absolve him entirely of responsibility as a significant number of his wounds were self inflicted. In the final analysis , despite the enemies he has made that speak well for him, he is something of a child.

  28. I also like how class isn’t involved in this discussion (It seems to have been removed from political discourse in the West with the end of the Soviet Union) but whatever.

I remember some years ago there was much made about a spate of muggings on Indian students in Melbourne and whole thing being played up as Anglo-Celts attacking Indians. When in reality it was done by Pacific Islander gangs. The gangs chose Indian (And also Chinese) students because they correctly intuited that they were more likely to carry more cash (And be wealthy and thus have nice phones or watches) and less likely to put up a fight or be any good if they did. This occurred in the period where Indian and Chinese students started to flood Australia.

In India the media portrayed this as Anglo-Celts engaging in racist attacks for the sake of it. (Not helped by the Australian media not putting much emphasis on the ethnicity of the muggers.)

They made a whole film about it that included an Australian Anglo-Celt who wore a balaclava and even attacked and brutally beat Indians in their homes at night. The plot involves an Indian guy who studies in Australia and decides to become morally corrupt by deciding not to go to endless ethnic protests headed by his Indian love interest and go native. Getting involved with a blonde Australian stripper (Whose brother is the masked attacker and whom the hero eventually kills) who represents the ‘Western whore’, after sleeping with her and her professing her love for him he feels guilt and then goes back to the good virtuous Indian girl and becomes an ethnic activist. (Jewish guilt vibes throughout) The metaphor of his relationship with the Australian girl is a good one for their view of the West as ‘plunder space’.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crook_(film)

It’s surreal, there is even a scene where their protest against student attacks (In reality, muggings) in the middle of the day in central Melbourne gets attacked.

  29. When did it become acceptable for one black man to speak on behalf of all black people, all of “us”?

I noticed the same thing The Last Real Calvinist did. If “alerting Asian communities or heightening their awareness about their safety and security may be sending a false signal that there is a nonexistent attempt on the part of some Black communities to target Asian brothers and sisters,” then is the true signal instead that there are existing attempts by some black folk to target Asian folk?

Surely there are some black people who target Asian folk, just as there are some white people who target other non-whites, because there are millions of people out there, and who could speak for millions, besides Dyson? As he later goes on to speak about how suffering oppression doesn’t exempt “us from looking at whatever possible internalization of certain elements of our community,” so he does allow for some black folk to be elements possibly internalizing white supremacy — or is it the elements who are being internalized? Inside every poor black community member is an even angrier and misled black person whom white supremacy put there . . .

Sliman Nawabi, a deputy public defender who is representing Antoine Watson, 19, in the San Francisco incident, said there is “absolutely zero evidence that Mr. Ratanapakdee’s ethnicity and age was a motivating factor in being assaulted.”

“This unfortunate assault has to do with a break in the mental health of a teenager. Any other narrative is false, misleading, and divisive,” Nawabi said.

You are no longer racist if you lose your mental composure; the break doesn’t release pent up aggression towards an Other. You’re just on a break. Nawabi doesn’t know that Black Spokesfolk Dyson told us there are “floodgates of anti-Asian sentiment” now unleashed after Trump administration spoke about the “Chinese virus”, so Nawabi isn’t with the program that the violence his client committed (allegedly?) is inherent to the dynamics of white supremacy internalized. For Nawabi, Dyson’s narrative is false, has to be, because otherwise his client is guilty of hate as much as any white person internalizing white supremacy is guilty of hate. And since there is a flood of hate held back by gates, it must be gushing from at least some black folk — who aren’t mentally breaking, since a breaking ain’t a hating.

Weird article. Copying the callout text and pasting it in-line with the text draws attention to how hypnotic the selection is. Repeating the important part helps a person remember, because repetition reinforces importance for memory. Something to remember, so repeat it.

Last night on one of the national news broadcasts, ABC, NBC or CBS I forget which, the spike in assaults on Asians was covered. Not a single word about who the aggressors were. Some vague suggestions that Trump's racist agitation was the cause of the attacks. However, in the 2 video clips aired from street video surveillance the aggressors were clearly young athletic black men.

Did viewers notice? I would guess that a large percentage of white viewers snickered to themselves and likewise a large cohort of talented tenth blacks and adjacent-whites, the new term of art for successful 1st and second generation dot Indians, Chinese, Vietmanese and Koreans making a good life for themselves in the US. And whose women are marrying white guys hand over fist. This last fact makes me mildly optimistic that the melting pot that made us who we are is still boiling. As for the lower classes of American society I note the extremely high intermarriage rate of Hispanic citizens and white working classes whose children know little or any Spanish. Unlike Asian women marrying white guys and pissing off Asian men, Hispanic-white intermarriages are equal opportunity gender-wise.

The Washington Post deigned to run a story on the cannibal murder. The comments were revealing of the mindset of garden variety liberals.

The first ones insisted the killer was white. After seeing the photo, they ranted about "stiff sentences causing mass incarceration of black men who were non-violent drug offenders." Then the killer was driven to it by brutal treatment by whites, or Trump's rhetoric, which supposedly drove him insane. The commenters often joked about it. What could be funnier to a white liberal than a black murdering a white woman and eating her heart?

It goes back to the late Lawrence Auster's dictum in simplest form: "First, black bad behavior is ignored. Next it's excused. Finally, blame it all on white people."

He’s the kind of guy Eddie Murphy in his prime would have a field day imitating.

Trump, ‘whose agents are everywhere’ and who operates ‘under the protection of his foreign paymasters’, though out of office now, seems to have been assigned a new role by the corporate mass media, ie that of being an Emmanuel Goldstein (Trumpstein?) like character.

    With apologies to Orwell…

    ‘The Hate had started.’

‘As usual, the face of Donald Trump, the Enemy of the People, had flashed on to the screen. There were hisses here and there among the audience. The little sandy-haired woman gave a squeak of mingled fear and disgust. Trump was the renegade and backslider who once, long ago (how long ago, nobody quite remembered), had been one of the leading figures of the Party, almost on a level with Big Brother himself, and then had engaged in counter-revolutionary activities, had been condemned to death, and had mysteriously escaped and disappeared.’

‘The programmes of the Two Minutes Hate varied from day to day, but there was none in which Trump was not the principal figure. He was the primal traitor, the earliest defiler of the Party’s purity. All subsequent crimes against the Party, all treacheries, acts of sabotage, heresies, deviations, sprang directly out of his teaching. Somewhere or other he was still alive and hatching his conspiracies: perhaps somewhere beyond the sea, under the protection of his foreign paymasters, perhaps even — so it was occasionally rumoured — in some hiding place in Oceania itself.’

  49. Of course, they can’t come out and admit that Asians simply rank below blacks in the “progressive stack” of who matters and who doesn’t. Hence, all the sophistry, hand-wringing over whether these constitute hate crimes (which are really about whether leftists hate the perpetrator enough to subject them to an alternate regime of harsh punishment), and lame efforts to deflect blame onto Whitey.

  51. What’s going on here is structural racism but not the kind that Dyson is talking about. The structure in question is the Coalition of the Fringes, which is constructed as a circular firing squad with the White Man at its center. The various elements in the Coalition have no great for each other (in fact quite often the opposite – see Black homophobia, Black anti-Semitism, etc.) but as long as all of their fire can be directed toward the white man, the Coalition can remain together. The moment you remove the white man from the picture, the whole thing falls apart.

What to do then, when something happens that doesn’t implicate whites at all (something that is going to be increasing common as there are fewer and fewer whites in America)? For example, when Blacks attack Asians? We cannot accept these attacks at face value because that might reveal the inherent weakness of the circular firing squad structure.

Now it is time to call in the big intellectual guns like Dyson, who will bedazzle us with their rhetoric. Do not believe your lying eyes, coalition members! But, I with my magical rhetoric, will conjure the figure of the White Man and re-introduce him into the picture. Yes, there is a White Man involved and his name is White Supremacy. You may not see him at first but squint real hard (that security camera footage is always blurry) and you will see him – he is whispering in Tyquan’s ear and egging him on to beat up that Chinaman in order to destroy the unity of the People of Color – the white man’s tactic is always divide and conquer! And now that you see him, dear Asian friends, you must redirect your ire away from Tyquan and towards him. By my magical rhetoric, the structure of the Coalition of the Fringes is preserved!

Now, Asians are not dumb and are not going to ACTUALLY believe this bullshit. They’ve got prescription glasses (the younger ones have Lasik) and they can see just fine. However, for young Woke Asians like Kimmy Yam, who are trying to make a career in this new America where Blacks are the keystone of Democratic politics and Democratic politics is the keystone for a media job at a place like NBC, they are more than willing to publicly buy into this BS in order to preserve and promote their careers. Otherwise, they will be ejected from the People of Color section (which, BTW, is now the FRONT of the bus) and forced to ride in the back with whites and white adjacents as if they were drooling Trump supporters. No thank you.

Asians, just like whites before them will buy it hook line and sinker.

Older and first gen asians who came up in the ghetto will see through this sure. But second gen and affluent asians, who are completely removed from the ghetto ills, will buy the BLM rhetoric just like affluent and suburban whites did. I'm seeing it happen in real time. Plenty of mental gymnastics going on, but it's happening.

  52. Although nearly all of the public black intellectuals that are on TV and frequently quoted are dim bulbs, Eric Michael Dyson is one of the dumbest. This is not quite right. The majority of muggings, carjackings and other types of robbery is what you say ("let's rob this old man and then we'll have money to go shopping/go to the movies/ take a joy ride, etc.) but the majority of overall black violence (especially shooting) is based upon perceived offense - the target has disrespected ("dissed") or given offense to the perp or the perp's gang in some way and must be made to pay for his offense. This could be something as small as accidentally bumping into someone at a club. In the recent flying tackle murder of the elderly Thai man, Antoine Watson yelled out "Why you lookin' at me?" before he sprinted across the road (the irony is that his family said that the elderly Mr. Ratanapakdee was nearly blind) .

In the mind of the perp, he is merely meting out well deserved justice - such attacks on your dignity, especially by someone of lower status, cannot go unanswered or you yourself are a chump for accepting such indignities unanswered (and in the ghetto, a chump will not survive for long). This is why BLM moments provoke increased shootings. Blacks become ultra-aware of their status as proud free black men (it's mostly men) and vow that they will no longer act like slaves and permit their dignity to be insulted. Even the slightest insult will no longer go unanswered in this new era of Black Dignity. They will not allow themselves to be literally pushed around by anyone, even another black. The era of Blacks suffering indignities in silence is OVER! From now on, anyone who insults Black Pride (MY pride) will be made to pay!

Yelling about China/Russia by Reps/Dems is a jointly agreed upon distraction from what we’d be doing if America wanted to get our house in order, which would be yelling “Jews, Jews, Jews”.

I think urban blacks just have a standard level of hostility towards non-blacks, particularly in what they deem to be their territories, and Asians fill a role as merchants of low value merchandise in and around black areas in major U.S. cities. So the resentment towards Asians is perhaps more immediate in the sense that they’re not blamed for slavery and Jim Crow so much as a feeling that sharp-dealing Asians are making a good living off of the “community,” rather than a black business owner filling the same role or a chain store with good selection and prices as one would find in white areas. Of course, the dynamic is such that recent immigrant Asians are one of the few groups who will do business in the ghetto with the attendant risk of violent crime, constant shrink due to theft, and so on. And, as we have seen, national chain stores in the ghetto seem to be prime targets during riot and looting season. So blacks are left in resource “deserts,” where only sharp-dealing immigrant Asians will set up shop in the form of corner stores, take out Chinese restaurants, and electronics dealers.

It’s also the case that this relationship is made really apparent – I’ve been in Chinese restaurants in black areas where the whole operation is behind a second reinforced facade with glass, and they hand you the food through a plexiglass box. It’s clear that the relationship is purely transactional, and there is absolutely no pretense to hospitality or being part of the local community. You give them money and they give you food and expect you to get lost right after they hand it over. It’s essentially a walk-in drive thru service window.

One easy test is to ask whether or not there's any other group in the world which is not victimized by black violence when given the chance. And the answer is: no, there's no such group (including blacks themselves); there's never been any such group, and from the looks of things there never will be.

It gives me no pleasure to say such things, but by systematically blinding ourselves to inconvenient facts our society ensures that they will worsen, not improve.

    True, that.

IMO, one of the greatest failures to this very day within the Anglosphere is not having dealt with chattel slavery and its trade in a truthful manner, and rather than abolishing it, as claimed, instead monetized* it via the introduction of that institution’s more malignant manifestation, wage slavery, ie specifically the so called cheap labor/mass immigration system, the economic and political basis of the ‘progressive’ Multi-Cultural society.

And, then, to have compounded this great error (if such were possible) by forcing this ungodly system upon much of the rest of the world.

    * To distill an economic activity down to its financial essence whilst maximising profits.

  64. How odd! The governor, medical establishment and social services wanted to immunize only blacks and hispanics with this program. So why do they fiddle around with silly secret codes?

Instead, they should simply re-program the sign-up website to say “We are only accepting appointments for blacks and Mexicans. Are you black or Mexican? [yes/no]”.

If a white or Asian lies about their race, makes an appointment, and shows up for a shot, the doctors and nurses could simply refuse to give them shots.

NURSE: “Oh, I’m sorry, ma’am, but we don’t serve whites or Asians today. Perhaps you could call back tomorrow and see if we have shots for your kind then?”

Of course the only reason to fiddle about with secret passwords is to keep the public, doctors and nurses in the dark about their patently illegal racial discrimination.

Blaming foreigners for pursuing their own national interests is a cop-out, and exactly the kind of shallow distraction strategy that you’d better believe the Usual Suspects will try to pursue, as events in the Middle East are currently showing.

But it’s ludicrous to suggest that Russia (or Iran) is an equal, let alone more pressing problem than the PRC. I’m sure that for the Democrats, part of this is the fact that Putin simply fits their world-view too well: he is the Scary White Christian Caveman from their nightmares. But tellingly, neither Russia nor Iran has the same kind of relationships with the same elites who have screwed up America as China has had over the past 30 years, so it actually isn’t surprising that they would prefer to be hostile to the former. Given where so many of these attacks are taking place -- places like San Francisco and New York -- why isn't it just as likely that recent public criticism of Asian-majority magnet schools as "racist" against Blacks is driving heightened anti-Asian animus in the Black community? Some of the attacks seem like they have no conventional criminal motive. They're just random attacks on elderly Asians. It's not like the string of attacks on old Asian ladies a few years ago when it was apparent that they were getting targeted because they were more likely than average to be walking around with a lot of cash.

“And on the other hand, alerting Asian communities or heightening their awareness about their safety and security may be sending a false signal that there is a nonexistent attempt on the part of some Black communities to target Asian brothers and sisters.”

The highlighted 'nonexistent' shouldn't be there; if the attempts were nonexistent, there wouldn't be anything that needed any warning against. But even practiced wokerati like Dyson can't keep their wokespeak straight.

“False” and “baseless” have been overused in the past few months. The same way. For the same reason.

    “Nothing to see here…”

  75. It seems increasingly evident to me that the first narrative layer — the white supremacy of Black-on-Asian violence and hatecrime — is an obvious lie to cover up a second layer of lies, which is that there is even some surge of anti-Asian hate crimes in the first place. The mind is so consumed with rejecting the obvious falsity of the “top” narrative that the media construction of some anti-Asian crime wave (when it’s really an extension of the usual Black underclass violence constantly in the background of urban American life) is accepted by the weary mind.

In this way, I would agree with the contention in the article that there is no special anti-Asian rage. This is just deflection from the overall surge in Black underclass violence that is made impossible to properly contextualize.

There was a spate of fecal dumpings by a dark-skinned man on students at the University of Toronto downtown campus recently. All the victims were of Chinese heritage. They were asked by a reporter if they felt they were targeted.

No, they said, it’s just that everybody here is Chinese. It might have been the med school, or engineering.

  77. While likely not true in Communist run NYC or San Francisco, etc. in Texas in places with large Asian populations they have been targets of black robbery violence.

However in Texas many carry pistols so may be tougher targets. Small, frail looking old women might not shoot, but you can’t always count on that. A small .22 is enough to deter most muggers.

Of course in Texas seldom are the victims put on trial for self defense measures. Under Woke Communism, victims are arrested and perps lionized as martyrs.

Hm, looks to me like another fine example of how the squabbling between the two Officially Allowed Parties achieves nothing--indeed is meant to be toothless distraction, with iSteve merrily playing along. The Dems incited against whites, yelling "Russia, Russia, Russia"; Trump incited against Asians, yelling "China, China, China". Sure, the former is wrong, but it doesn't excuse the latter; how does either help Americans get their own house in order?

More generally, Trump's been in charge for the past four years; the country was governed by his people. How does he not bear responsibility? He could have, say, purged the Critical-Race-Theory cult from the Dept of Education right upon taking office, setting the tone throughout the federal govt like Biden is doing now for his agenda. Instead, Americans got muh "most pro-Israel govt in history", and some feeble rear-guard action against the CRT poison only when Trump saw he was going to lose re-election--remembering for the first time since 2016 that voters also exist.

Your impression of the Trump years was that the country was governed by his people? There is scarcely a federal agency from the DOJ to the IRS to the EPA to the CIA to the FDA to the State Dept.that didn’t try to stab him in the back. The senior civil service layer in all these agencies were actively conspiring against him and these are just the ones we know about. It’s a pretty safe bet that, like the proverbial iceberg, 90 percent of these cabals are submerged below the swamp waterline and never come to light. The virtual impossibility of building a viable third party meant that many of his appointments were going to be ,if not swamp creatures, at least marshland denizens of one sort or another. Add that to the difficulty of imposing one’s will on the civil service in the time frame of one presidential term and it’s remarkable that he was able to accomplish anything at all. That being said, I wouldn’t absolve him entirely of responsibility as a significant number of his wounds were self inflicted. In the final analysis , despite the enemies he has made that speak well for him, he is something of a child.

Sure Trump was backstabbed by a thousand cuts, to say nothing of the leaks. Then when things crossed the line, the backstabber got replaced--by someone else from Trump's rolodex of never-Trumpers, war hawks, Wall-Street shysters, and jews (but I repeat myself). And his supporters cheered it on, "draining the swamp by hiring the swamp" was like the smartest Zen-type move evah; Trust The Plan. It's all the M.O. of a show-wrestling MC, which is the skill set with which Trump entered the White House and the skill set with which he left it, with zero growth in-between: the bad guys get dissed and smacked around a bit but you can be sure they'll get up afterwards, for the show has to go on in the next episode. Nothing gets ever resolved.

The Godfather is relevant here: they are all crooks, but a competent Don can nonetheless surround himself with crooks which he can rely on, or at least have the chops to keep the apes in line.

Bottom line: with "his people" I simply meant the people Trump chose to appoint or retain. Like the rest of us, he'd seen the fundamental truth of "personnel is policy" throughout eight Obama years. So in the end, Trump only got what he wanted and deserved.

What's going on here is structural racism but not the kind that Dyson is talking about. The structure in question is the Coalition of the Fringes, which is constructed as a circular firing squad with the White Man at its center. The various elements in the Coalition have no great for each other (in fact quite often the opposite - see Black homophobia, Black anti-Semitism, etc.) but as long as all of their fire can be directed toward the white man, the Coalition can remain together. The moment you remove the white man from the picture, the whole thing falls apart.

What to do then, when something happens that doesn't implicate whites at all (something that is going to be increasing common as there are fewer and fewer whites in America)? For example, when Blacks attack Asians? We cannot accept these attacks at face value because that might reveal the inherent weakness of the circular firing squad structure.

Now it is time to call in the big intellectual guns like Dyson, who will bedazzle us with their rhetoric. Do not believe your lying eyes, coalition members! You may THINK that you see only Tyquan and elderly Mr. Woo and Tyquan is beating on Mr. Woo and it don't look good. But, I with my magical rhetoric, will conjure the figure of the White Man and re-introduce him into the picture. Yes, there is a White Man involved and his name is White Supremacy. You may not see him at first but squint real hard (that security camera footage is always blurry) and you will see him - he is whispering in Tyquan's ear and egging him on to beat up that Chinaman in order to destroy the unity of the People of Color - the white man's tactic is always divide and conquer! And now that you see him, dear Asian friends, you must redirect your ire away from Tyquan and towards him. By my magical rhetoric, the structure of the Coalition of the Fringes is preserved!

Now, Asians are not dumb and are not going to ACTUALLY believe this bullshit. They've got prescription glasses (the younger ones have Lasik) and they can see just fine.

    Replies: @joe_mama

Asians, just like whites before them will buy it hook line and sinker.

Older and first gen asians who came up in the ghetto will see through this sure. But second gen and affluent asians, who are completely removed from the ghetto ills, will buy the BLM rhetoric just like affluent and suburban whites did. I’m seeing it happen in real time. Plenty of mental gymnastics going on, but it’s happening.

  81. It would be good to see a comparison of how much Black murders of Whites went up in 2020, versus how much Black murders of Asians went up in 2020.

One area where I have reservations about your analysis, Steve, is about how much Trump is to blame. Black violence against Asians goes back decades, so I would be wary about blaming Trump too much; but Trump’s “China virus” rhetoric certainly hasn’t helped. Trump got more of the Black vote than any Republican Presidential candidate in recent decades. Trump uses inflammatory rhetoric to gain support. Some of this rhetoric (for example, anti-immigrant rhetoric) might appeal to a lot of Black people, which might account for some of Trump’s relatively high support (relative to other Republicans) in the Black community. Given that many Blacks are anti-Asian to begin with, Trump’s rhetoric could add more gasoline to the fire.

Is Black-On-Asian Violence a Hate Crime or Just Blacks Acting Black?

One easy test is to ask whether or not there's any other group in the world which is not victimized by black violence when given the chance. And the answer is: no, there's no such group (including blacks themselves); there's never been any such group, and from the looks of things there never will be.

It gives me no pleasure to say such things, but by systematically blinding ourselves to inconvenient facts our society ensures that they will worsen, not improve.

I think urban blacks just have a standard level of hostility towards non-blacks, particularly in what they deem to be their territories, and Asians fill a role as merchants of low value merchandise in and around black areas in major U.S. cities. So the resentment towards Asians is perhaps more immediate in the sense that they're not blamed for slavery and Jim Crow so much as a feeling that sharp-dealing Asians are making a good living off of the "community," rather than a black business owner filling the same role or a chain store with good selection and prices as one would find in white areas. So blacks are left in resource "deserts," where only sharp-dealing immigrant Asians will set up shop in the form of corner stores, take out Chinese restaurants, and electronics dealers.

It's also the case that this relationship is made really apparent - I've been in Chinese restaurants in black areas where the whole operation is behind a second reinforced facade with glass, and they hand you the food through a plexiglass box. It's clear that the relationship is purely transactional, and there is absolutely no pretense to hospitality or being part of the local community. You give them money and they give you food and expect you to get lost right after they hand it over. It's essentially a walk-in drive thru service window.

the overwhelming majority of black violence is opportunistic and essentially self-entertainment.

There’s this minoritarian propaganda incantation, uttering “stereotype” as if that will cast out demons, and get people to not believe the statistical knowledge they’ve pick up.

But is there a single “stereotype” that is actually wrong? I don’t mean individually. (I’m half Irish and don’t have a drinking problem … most days.) But statistically false. (I can introduce you to a couple of my cousins.)

People might create or repeat stereotypes about other people for reasons of enmity, but they pick things that have some purchase. For instance, the French or British didn’t come up with “Oh those Germans, so carefree and lazy. You just can’t get a decent days work out of ’em.”

  100. For one thing, there are barely any whites left in the parts where this is happening. This is a glimpse of the future. When you’ve killed off all of the polar bears, there are none left to hunt. Ergo panda bear hunting. For as long as polar bear hunting has been happening, it’s not really newsworthy for broad cultural reasons that you have outlined on this blog. We’re hearing about panda bear hunting, it IS newsworthy because of korean facebook. As to whether black people are racistly targeting asians… no. This is just an artifact of the hands off policing approach of the late trumpian era. The withdrawal to the doughnut shop. I’m going to quote myself from an isteve comment I’ve made in years past. “I went to public school; black people are just insane.”

A stupid joke, I know. But it’s a stupid world. It’s more than a half century on, and blacks still can’t get their shit together. So now, it seems, we have decided to just destroy society (defund police, get rid of testing, etc., and never, never make them take any responsibility) so that no one can notice their dysfunction anymore.

the overwhelming majority of black violence is opportunistic and essentially self-entertainment.

What is increasingly disturbing about these Sailerbait articles is that I suspect they are examples of more than the elites just simply lying to us. It is almost expected that in some societies the people in charge; politicians, academics, capitalists, bureaucrats, lawyers etc. will cynically use lies as part of their toolbox for control. That can happen and a civilization can still function with people like that in charge.
I am increasingly getting the sinking feeling that the elites are not simply lying to us as a tactic, but in fact believe this gibberish themselves. They are becoming unmoored from reality and drifting into psychosis. A civilization can survive being ruled by psychopaths, but one ruled by psychotics who think they can jump off a cliff and fly by flapping their arms is doomed to end up on the rocks below.

There are two aspects to your question.

    1. Why search for books using a search engine?

Because I get a look at a variety of sites (in this case I can tell how little exposure the book is getting). Also, I often get some fortuitous hits like reviews or blog posts discussing the book. Or in this case, Lynn's 2002 paper in my PS.

    2. Why use Google?

    Mea maxima culpa.

Though it can be useful to get a look at what Google is presenting, I should really start with duckduckgo or similar.

P.S. Although sites like bookfinder.com and addall.com (note that the latter has an option 2/3 the price of the lowest at the former in this case, though it looks like they only ship to the UK) are best for buying books, I usually start with Amazon because I like the reviews.

The Godfather is relevant here: they are all crooks, but a competent Don can nonetheless surround himself with crooks which he can rely on, or at least have the chops to keep the apes in line.

Bottom line: with “his people” I simply meant the people Trump chose to appoint or retain. Like the rest of us, he’d seen the fundamental truth of “personnel is policy” throughout eight Obama years. So in the end, Trump only got what he wanted and deserved.

Of course, the dynamic is such that recent immigrant Asians are one of the few groups who will do business in the ghetto with the attendant risk of violent crime, constant shrink due to theft, and so on.

One of St Michael Brown's last acts before his martyrdom was to steal from an Asian-owned shop.

Mr. Brown was not stealing; he merely cut the middle-manperson (government) out of the redistributitive process.

This is directed to the previous commenters - when you refer to a WaPo article it would help to link.

I haven't read them all but some of the commenters are actually pretty based.

Looks like that article got memory holed, probably due to noticing in comments.

Another thought. Since this is supposedly an HBD blog some of you might agree. On the serengeti the lions don’t target the healthy adult male antelopes, they target the juveniles, the old & decrepit, the injured, the deformed. It’s the law of the jungle. We can apply the law of the jungle to our own concrete jungle. Old decrepit asians wearing covid masks outdoors are especially pathetic looking to the base reptilian layers of our brains. Short pudgy little geriatrics scurrying along as fast as their little feet can carry them. This isn’t a racist statement, it’s just HBD compounded with basic biology.

Richard Lynn's most recent book is "Race Differences in Psychopathic Personality" and in it he argues that blacks are the most psychopathic group:

Pretty much everything Richard Lynn writes has been discredited and shown to be erroneous. He’s an ideologue.

I also like how class isn't involved in this discussion (It seems to have been removed from political discourse in the West with the end of the Soviet Union) but whatever.

Getting involved with a blonde Australian stripper (Whose brother is the masked attacker and whom the hero eventually kills) who represents the 'Western whore', after sleeping with her and her professing her love for him he feels guilt and then goes back to the good virtuous Indian girl and becomes an ethnic activist. (Jewish guilt vibes throughout) The metaphor of his relationship with the Australian girl is a good one for their view of the West as 'plunder space'.

It's surreal, there is even a scene where their protest against student attacks (In reality, muggings) in the middle of the day in central Melbourne gets attacked.

    Replies: @RSDB

At least the film was a flop:

    Budget ₹175 million (US$2.5 million)
Box office ₹124 million (US$1.7 million

Indians in Australia were not entirely happy:

Among Australia’s local Indian population, Gautam Gupta, spokesman for the Federation of Indian Students criticized the piece, saying: “They have performed their research so badly, it’s shocking.” He also complained that, far from helping the situation, that the film could help inflame tensions.

Indians in Sri Lanka are also apparently subject to racist attacks by angry locals:

    (well, OK, not really)

  128. Well apparently Asian Americans are now “White People of Color”.
Black on White crime is never a hate crime, so to answer the original question:
NO, black on asian crime can not be considered a hate cime!

Do we know if any of the blacks who have assaulted Asians follow Tariq Nasheed on Twitter?

Actually, *half-Asian sons* would have been accurate.

The conjoined twins, *Siamese* but ethnically Chinese, were married to two Irish-American sisters.
