The Late Obama Age Collapse continues, but may be slowing. The Major Cities Chiefs Association released homicide totals for the first half of 2017 for 62 sizable police departments across the country.
The aggregate number of homicides in the first half of 2017 was 3,081, up almost 3% from 2,994 in the first half of 2016 for the same set of 62 departments.
The growth in the homicide rate during the second quarter of 2017 was down to below 1% year to date. (However, that declining growth rate in Q2 may be overly optimistic since the Q2-2016 denominator included 49 homicides in an Islamist terrorism attack upon a gay nightclub in Orlando.)
In contrast, the homicide total in the first half of 2016 was up 15% over the first half of 2015. Likewise, the Majors Chiefs had reported that homicides for the full year 2015 were up 16% versus the full year of 2014.
Evidence points to the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement, backed vociferously by the Obama Administration and the media, during the much-publicized Ferguson uproar of August 2014 as the point at which America’s homicide rate, which had been in long term decline, suddenly started rising again.
It would appear that the thousands of incremental homicides that have happened since Ferguson three years ago have been overwhelmingly black-on-black.
The new report covers many but not all big cities. For example, New York City is not included (the most recent NYC figures I could find from May showed homicides down 15% from 2016).
Baltimore is now second out of all 62 departments reported in the U.S. with 170 dead bodies, up from 137 in the first half of 2016. Baltimore’s homicide rate has been extremely high ever since the Freddie Gray BLM riot in March 2015.
Chicago remains in first place in absolute numbers, with homicides increasing from 324 to 328.
Charlotte, the scene of BLM rioting in the latter half of 2016, saw its number of homicides increase from 22 in the first half of 2016 to 47 in the first half of 2017. Milwaukee, site of a couple of BLM riots in 2016 has stayed stable at 55 in each year.
New Orleans is a mess, with homicides growing from 68 to 96. Philadelphia is up from 122 to 156.
Black Lives Matter, indeed …
Fortunately, toppling evil rays-emitting statues will no doubt fix the Late Obama Age Collapse.
But all the elite intellectualoids are demanding we take down those confederate & Lincoln & Jefferson & Washington & Joan of Arc statues that are causing all of these murders!
If that racist sack of s**t Sessions really cared about the blacks, he would unleash the police, “to administer instant punishment”.
Whether that’s actually a problem or not depends on who’s getting killed. Honestly.
On the other hand, it is rather “LOL” ironic that Obama, whom 99% of Blacks voted for, helped unleash the ‘inner ghetto’ in so many of his kinfolk, resulting in this big increase in black-on-black homicide.
If it’s about the donut-shop effect (cops not even trying to keep the peace) the rate of unsolved murders should be soaring even more.
If I were Trump, Sessions or Miller, I would look at per capita-rates. Those might show zero increase. I would certainly make that my ceterum censeo at press conferences, esp. given the fact that otherwise this admin doesn’t exactly have much of a track record in terms of successful legal initiatives to boast of so far.

I tend to doubt that. The black population is pretty stable and most of the homicide increase has been black-on-black and occurring in predominantly black areas. The per capita black homicide rate has probably gone up a tick.
The reason the murder rate in New York City is dropping is a simple one : Third-World Asians are gradually displacing a portion of the American Black population there. These “just off the boat” Asians would rather slowly bleed you of greenbacks over a long period of time rather than homicide you all at once.
Third-World Asians have picked up the fallen torch of Mafia loan sharks and Jewish fraudsters and applied new computerized customs of their own, thanks to the good old Immigration Act of 1965. Guys like Al Capone (the de facto Mayor of Chicago during Prohibition) were nothing but horrid poster children for Republican voters, who lived west of the Mississippi (i.e. : greasy, dusky foreigners who weren’t Protestant and who could never become true Americans in the eyes of “real” Americans). These GOPers wanted to put a complete stop to eastern and southern European immigration in 1924 and managed to do so until 1965.
Dem. politicians, like Hillary Clinton & Debbie Wassermann-Schultz, love to shakedown “legal” Third-World Asians for “campaign contributions.” It’s an ever blooming Asian money tree that bears big fruit in all seasons. Debbie Wassermann-Schultz cried bitter tears when the FBI rumbled her favorite Pakistani IT guy, who was using various federal credit unions as his personal playgrounds in the constant getting of ready cash. I wonder what Debbie’s cut was? Makes you think, doesn’t it!

Charlotte was one of the cities with a much lower correlation between %black and violent crime in Mr (doctor?) Unz’s research. I wonder if that still holds, after it got BLMed…
A financial crisis is brewing, see pensiontsunami.com. The pensions crisis and the military spending crisis are mostly due to elderly white people. BLM is a symptom of a problem. Philandro Castile was shot dead by a policeman collecting revenue from a commuter. If I get the story right the cop was not even a local cop. The town dissolved their police for to save money and hired a neighboring town’s police. My interpretation of the confederate monument crisis is that it is a way of placating black people without redirecting money to them. But what comes after the last totem of the Lost Cause is gone? Wisconsin, Iowa, and Montana are already out of monuments, which barely celebrated the Confederacy, to tear down if I got the count right.
Though this hardly needs to be pointed out here, the utter inversion of reality represented by BLM is so outrageous. It is hard to imagine a bigger lie. The group most disproportionately responsible for violence in the nation demands the right to attack and murder with impunity all while playing the victim. This imagined victimhood is further used to undermine the primary method of limiting the astonishingly high rate of black-on-black murder, the criminal justice system. I’d be prepared to discuss just how aggressive and oppressive the police should, what the proper trade off between this and chaos in the ghettos should be. But BLM is not remotely interested in contemplating the trade offs. The impulses underlying the movement are so astonishingly racist that many American whites cannot even begin to comprehend them. The message is “We will always side with other blacks no matter what. No matter how much of a vile piece of shit the “victim,” we will screech with outrage over his death. We care more about one black being justly killed the police or a non-black private citizen than a thousand pointlessly slaughtered by black violence.” Just utter, absolute racial chauvinism ludicrously packaged as antiracism. It’s just infuriating . . .

There were STILL arguments that the BLM epidemic of murders was simply statistical noise.
That argument requires a directional change in murders. From increase to decrease. 3% is more than enough to further refute the ‘noise’ argument.
Unless we get a decrease soon, the ‘temporary’ argument disappears.
It is going to be noticed that the increase is related to the de-imprisonment campaign of the late Obama period. One result is the failure to enforce gun laws in black urban areas. I’m referring to laws related to guns used in crime, carried by criminals, armed gangs, etc. I doubt if we can ever return to peak prison. It worked but wasn’t selective enough. 50,000 targeted imprisonments could reverse the body counts.
The problem is simple: “Whites are over-represented among Baltimore police.”

Well, I was pleased to see that San Jose murders were down 40% from last year, which is about what I expected based on reading my local morning newspaper.
Looks like we have a real shot at regaining the title of “Safest Major City in America”…
