To be fair, there is a long, long tradition of using blacks and other “primitive” folks as sources of spiritual wisdom. Hence, the “magical negro” or “numinous negro.” Uncle Remus, Bagger Vance, whatever James Earl Jones was called in that baseball movie, etc. Turbaned sheikhs, Tibetan masters, etc.

K-pop owes its start to Black music. Now the global music phenomenon is being pressed by some fans to support Black Lives Matter.

    Keeping K-pop accountable

Unlike some other fandoms, K-pop followers are relatively diverse, said Ashley Hinck, assistant professor in communications at Xavier University, who studies fandom and social activism. There are no reliable surveys, but industry experts say a large share of attendees at last year’s KCON fan convention and concert series were Asian and Hispanic, with much smaller shares White or Black.

Of course she now sees dollar signs, so she is now the “fiancee”.

  22. Anon[130] • Disclaimer says:

San Francisco passed a rule that said companies can only have their employees in the office 3 days a week as a measure to combat greenhouse gasses. This rule is to continue even after the Covid pandemic is over. Officials noticed that most companies could do this during the early days of Covid and still get along. The results will be interesting. Small businesses that need city foot traffic to survive will be hit hard, though.

Despite the greenhouse gas nonsense, it would improve the quality of life for many people if they don’t have to make the commute. It would also improve the air quality, and make roads much less crowded. San Francisco has undoubtedly realized that with less traffic, they wouldn’t have to repair the roads as often. That’s a big money-saver for a city. Less traffic means fewer traffic deaths, and less gasoline used. Fewer traffic deaths and accidents means the cost of car insurance may drop, and a premium saving and cheaper gas bills will help the average person’s household budget. City streets will be quieter.

However, those companies that want to keep tight tabs on their employees will be throwing a fit and moving out of San Francisco. Even though I can’t stand libtards, I think they’re right this time that it will improve the quality of life overall in San Francisco.

Deep down, I think the San Francisco officials decided they wanted to de-urbanize somewhat to make the city more livable, and greenhouse gasses were a convenient excuse.

  23. @AnotherDad

The Chinese students of the future are going to have to swallow a lot of authentic home-grown Chinese madness: Shih Huang-ti’s massacre of scholars and mass destruction of classical texts; the Seven Kill Stele; the White Lotus; An Lu-Shan; the Tai-pings; the Boxers; the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution.

If they can believe that all that mass Chinese madness was for real, then they can probably accept American madness too.

The silver lining for them is, they survived all that insanity, and they are still China. Can we survive our own craziness?

Not if our Best Friends Forever have a say in the matter.

All 200+ million white people in this country are guilty for the murder of Emmett Till and the decision by the jury to let his murderers go free, even though the vast majority of us didn’t know any of them, aren’t related to them, and weren’t even alive at the time of Till’s murder.

Meanwhile…how dare anyone suggests Emmett Till bears any responsibility for the woman who was murdered and the two others who were raped by Till’s own father?

That’s the real importance of the fact of Till’s father being a rapist and murderer. It’s not that Emmett “had it coming” due to some inherited guilt for his father’s actions. It’s that we’re told that it’s appalling for us to blame Emmett for his daddy’s crimes while meanwhile every white person in America is allegedly guilty for the actions of Roy Bryant, John Milam, and the handful of jurors who let them go unpunished.

    From RT:

Armenia and Azerbaijan have been sworn enemies since gaining independence in the 1990s. The focus of their conflict is Nagorno-Karabakh, a predominantly Armenian region landlocked inside Azeri territory, which Baku considers to be under its sovereignty and Yerevan treats as an independent friendly nation.

Armenian militias in Nagorno-Karabakh fought a successful six-year guerrilla war against Azerbaijan.

Their only child, Emmett Louis Till, was born on July 25, 1941. Mamie left her husband soon after learning that he had been unfaithful. Louis, enraged, choked her to unconsciousness, to which she responded by throwing scalding water at him. Eventually Mamie obtained a restraining order against him. After he repeatedly violated this order, a judge forced Till to choose between enlistment in the Army and imprisonment. Choosing the former, he enlisted in 1943.

There were conflicting accounts of what he said. I don’t think even Carolyn Bryant claimed he ‘demanded’ anything of her.

His killers had had no intention of killing him,

It actually takes some effort to beat someone to death with your bare hands and to leave his corpse mutilated.

You really need to get another hobby. This one’s kinda gross.

Your analysis would make more sense if re-paved roads were more than a 20-year event. I’ve been in SF my whole life and have no memory of any main commute artery getting redone, i.e. beyond occasional pothole filling. Such an event finally did occur in June on Park Presidio Blvd., but absent the Covid shutdown even that wouldn’t have happened, and anyway it’s not a road leading downtown, so has little to do with the number of workers heading to offices. Right now the big news for drivers is that neighborhood streets all over are being blocked to through traffic, so that bicyclists and skateboarders can own them.

  97. @Wilkey

Yes, the principle of collective racial guilt if applied uniformly to members of all races would mark everyone as equally guilty of punishment. There is nothing more racist, ideologically, than the application of collective racial guilt only to whites. This double standard is a deliberate instrument of genocide.

Chinese students will be studying the decline and fall of the American Empire within maybe the next 25 years, so they should have no trouble believing what happened. Their teachers will be recounting to them what they witnessed first hand.

I suspect the Chinese are not too happy about the “gradually first then all at once” nature of what is happening because they were planning on a more controlled decline and an orderly hand off of the baton.
The US military is, materially at least, armed to the teeth with trillions of dollars of the most advanced hardware. The military and the nation may lack the morale, unity, and willingness to absorb casualties needed to actually win a war, but an Empire in its death throes can lash out and do something really stupid on the way out.
Additionally the US is a major resource for China. It is the worlds largest market for their goods, has some really nice places for second homes, sightseeing, recreation etc. Additionally the old American genetic stock can still produce brilliant and creative individuals who can be employed by Chinese companies or start business that the Chinese could capitalize, thereby contributing to China’s economic and technical strength.
Seeing the US heading in the direction of Mad Max Fury Road may be causing some concern in their inner councils over just how far and fast it is going to go. There is no point in owning a magnificent mansion on the bluffs of Malibu or Palos Verdes if the walls are besieged by War-boys.

Why the right wing has a massive advantage on Facebook

The growth of right-wing content on the platform has enraged liberals, who accuse the social media giant of kowtowing to the right out of fear of being painted as biased toward the left.

    Projection? Heck, that’s cantilever!

In 1943, with our coverage of the Zoot Suit riots, The Times largely ignored the context — the social and economic upheaval brought about by wartime mobilization and the racist trope of threatened white womanhood — and blamed the victims instead of their assailants.

The LA TIMES is woke to the Becky menace.

  103. My mother’s ancestors were brought over to America on sailing ships to work as indentured servants (White slaves) before Sub-Saharan Africans were. I can trace them back that far.

When I finally went to my mother’s little home town in Georgia to bury her ashes, a cousin I had never met showed me where our mothers had grown up. It was an empty patch of land next to railroad tracks.

My father told me that when he met my mother’s father there in that town, her father was sharpening saws in a tool shed, working for a lumber company. I have a photograph of my mother and her siblings playing, and her mother standing, right there in their yard with a boxcar and the railroad tracks behind them.

They had nothing, and they were White.

Thanks for that string of illustrative tweets from the sick little, self-hating bitches at the LA Times, apologizing for the papers systemic racism in past articles. Which they display examples of.
Anyway how black is the LA Times staff these days? I bet not very. Blacks population is declining in LA, Hispanics take over their neighborhoods. I bet diverse on their staff means Hispanic and Asian.

Seeing libs prostate and kiss blacks/BLM asses is the sickest thing ever. Done mostly by sick females.

  105. Emmett Till was born in Borshincarsh, near Warsaw. In 1943, he was a little Jewish boy captured by the Nazis and made to undergo gruesome experiments at the hands of Dr. Mengle. Mengle was testing the use of painful electric treatments that the Nazis hoped would be useful to turn subjects skin very dark, to allow for effective nighttime combat. Emmett was used in those terrible experiments.

Emmet was a piano prodigy and the Nazis would force him to play the instrument 23 hours a day. The SS had trained dogs that would bite the little boy if the dogs recognized a note was played incorrectly.

In 1947, Emmetts mother emigrated to America. Sadly, his father having perished during the war.
It’s a terrible irony that the young man was killed in the U.S., not because of his Jewish faith, but because of the color of his skin.

And that is the true story of Emmett Till.

That was the Silver Age version. The Golden age version is the one with the reincarnation angle. Basically, the Golden Age Hawkman is a a mash-up of Alex Raymond’s Hawkmen of Mongo in the FLASH GORDON strip (the name, appearance, powers, etc) and H Rider Haggard’s She (the reincarnation stuff).

If memory serves, DC has combined the Golden and Silver Age versions in current continuity.

My paternal grandfather, missing several fingers working underage in a factory and orphaned at 6 years old, just oozed privilege. So did his brother, who was blown up in the pacific theater during WWII at 18 years old.

Biden’s got a similar psychological tick to those “i fought at Khe Sanh” kind of braggarts. Biden, weirdly, does not seem to be satisfied with his own accomplishments/life-history–even though he’s way, way outperformed his IQ and general capability**–and feels compelled to just make stuff up.

“Delaware State” doesn’t have the same ring as “Khe Sanh”, but with Biden it’s just whatever pops into his head at the moment.

(**I’ve continually underperformed my IQ and general capability. But … it is what it is. I don’t feel compelled to make stuff up, i just live with my incredibly ordinary American middle class life. “Anyone want another beer?”)

You’re lying, Buzz! Your ancestors didn’t do nuthin’.

America was built on the backs of Blacks, with your ancestors coasting on their white privilege, scribbling the occasional shoddy document to justify their looting. The joint was a mediocre oppressive hellhole–kept afloat only by the efforts of Black bodies–until the Great Wavers showed up, challenged your people’s white privilege, and brought America to greatness.

Blacks, Great Wavers and Dreamers–that’s who made/makes America great. Your people had nothing to do it and need to sit down, shut up and learn.
