Have any pairs of identical twins ever been movie stars after childhood?

Lots of movie stars have fraternal twin siblings, but after a desultory effort I only found two with identical twins — Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite and Linda Hamilton of Terminator — neither of whom works much before the camera.

And yet, lots of identical twins start out as child stars, such as the Olsen Twins and the Kaczyński Twins who have dominated Polish politics in this century. The Kaczyński s believed that children like twins, thus their appearance in a classic children’s movie in 1962, while adults found them unsettling, so they adopted a strategy of being seen together in public as little as their high offices allowed.

Identical twins are not uncommon in rock bands (The Proclaimers, Good Charlotte, The Nationsl, and Bros.)

Identical twins are pretty common in basketball, where sheer genetic height is so important, and modestly common in other sports.

Olsons? Their younger sister is also a movie star.

Twin are useful to the entertainment industry when they want to cast a small child (as you probably know). But usually they are playing a single role.

They can come across a bit strange as an adult, especially if you didn’t know that an acquaintance has a twin and run across them when out and about.

That's one of the worst aspects of being a twin. Many a time I must have offended non-mutual acquaintances of my twin brother while walking about the streets - and vice-versa of course. I try just not to think about it.

“New accuser alleges Trump offered her $10,000 to accept private penthouse invitation”

    http://www.businessinsider.com/jessica-drake-trump-sexual-misconduct-2016-10

An 11th woman came forward Saturday to accuse Donald Trump of sexual misconduct, alleging that Trump or one of his associates once offered her $10,000 to accept a “private invitation” to his suite.

Jessica Drake made the allegations during a press conference with high-profile attorney Gloria Allred, who has represented two other women making accusations of sexual misconduct the Republican nominee in recent weeks.

Drake said the incident with Trump took place in 2006, while she was working for the adult-film company Wicked Pictures. The two were attending a golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.

She said after meeting Trump and touring the golf course with him, he invited her to his penthouse suite. Drake said she accepted but brought two other women, as she “didn’t feel right” going alone.

Once there, Drake said, Trump grabbed each woman tightly and kissed them without their consent.

After she left, Drake said she received calls from Trump, who she said asked her to return to his suite and invited her to a party.

When Drake declined, she said, Trump asked her, “What do you want? How much?”

After continuing to decline and saying she had to return to Los Angeles for work, Drake said she received another call, either from Trump or a man calling on his behalf, offering $10,000 and use of his private jet if she accepted his private invitation.

I'm stunned that in this fine nation of ours it might be possible to locate 11 women with borderline personality disorder who would be willing to lie for ideology, fame, or money.

When you consider that there are only 150 million females in our country, and maybe only 75 million of the right age, the figure of 11 flagrant liars seems unbelievably high.

  3. In the studio system days there would be no reason to sign twins to a contract. What use would Cary Grant’s or Carole Lombard’s twin be to MGM when they were unknown actors. Having a ‘spare’ might be useful once they were stars in expediting film production assuming the twin could ‘act’ but speaking voices are not identical so , even here, the ability to substitute the twin for the real Cary or Carole would be limited and I doubt the pay would be the same.

  4. Tasha and Sidra Smith are identical twins. Tasha is most famous for starring in Tyler Perry movies. Sidra has one acting credit, in a movie. Both have worked behind the camera in several capacities and one or both run an acting school.

Dack and Dirk Rambo were twin brothers. Dirk was killed by a drunk driver in 1967 and Dack died of AIDS complications in 1994. Dack was most famous for soap opera and prime time television work, but did star in B-movies. Dirk is only credited for televsion.

Elvis had a stillborn twin, don’t know if he was identical.

  5. Pretty obvious. Movie stars are in the business of being worshiped. You can’t really do that when there’s two of them. That’s why all bible references to Bob Christ were removed by the church fathers.

One rule I've observed over and over, it might as well be a law of at this point given how often it's observed across time, is that whatever negative thing a conservative politician is accused of, it's more common among the left than the right, and there are plenty of left wing politicians who have done far worse examples of the same thing.

Shawn and Aaron Ashemore are identical twins who are both actors. They were in the X-Men movies directed by Bryan Singer and they seem gay so I always assumed they were used to fulfill sick fantasies around Hollywood.

One reason twins are more prevalent as child actors than as adults is that it’s easier for a film/TV production to employ twins when casting a very young character. Child actors can only work a certain number of hours legally, so when time’s up you can just swap out one twin for the other and work a full day. I seem to remember this being pretty common on family sitcoms where there would be a toddler character.

The show Bewitched used fraternal twins, that resemble one another, to play the role of Tabitha.

Murphy was only two when she joined the cast, along with her fraternal twin sister Diane, in the third season of the beloved sitcom.

The producers were only auditioning twins for the role because of child labor laws restricting the amount of time a child could be on set. After the Murphy twins got the part, it was clear that Erin was the one who loved the lights. They used her for all the closeups and major scenes and her sister for the long shots and cutaways.

C.O. and Steve: the height part in basketball is highly significant, but I immediately thought of the Sedins as well. I've always figured that having two clones who know each other's moves at a level no other team-mate could, is a big advantage in a sport like hockey, with its constant high-speed improvisation. Of course, basketball is like that too. Twins may have less advantage in more chess-like sports: gridiron and baseball. Except Minnesota of course.

  29. No Seventh Inning “Stretch” or “Row” v. Wade?-
While not movie stars, the identical twins, Nikolai and Yuir Pimenov had the distinction of being born on February 29 (as in a Leap Year) and of winning silver medals in the Olympics (ahem) coxless pairs rowing competition long before Bruce Jenner came out of the water closet. Thanks to Mr. Sailer’s coverage of what was once America’s second favorite pastime (baseball; the first being a solitary sport engaged in more frequently than the world’s oldest profession), what leaps to mind is that neither twin was later guilty of anything like Merkel’s or Merkle’s “boner.”
It should be noted that while the Soviet twins were blonde, they never defected to play for the Las Angeles Angels, Angela Merkel’s hair was bleach blonde and Fred Merkle was a brunette. Furthermore Merkle’s boner was committed against the Chicago Cubs who should not be confused with the blonde young “cubs” (distinct from their grown-up cousins, the “Berserkers,” known for wearing wolf or bear skins into battle) cited by Pope Gregory who famously said of none of our contemporaries above, “Non Angli; sed angeli.”
Fred Merkle’s father was a Swiss immigrant and his mother, a German American.
Roger Maris was blonde and born to parents of Croatian origin in Hibbing (doubtless known to some Nazi scum as “Heebing,” given its association with the Noble-prize winning Robert Zimmerman who is not to be mistaken for a certain “white Hispanic” of the same surname) Minnesota. Unfortunately, Mr. Maris never played for the Pittsburgh Pirates nor was his likeness used for an animated character in Captain Pugwash’s pirate crew, which, contrary to urban legend, did *not* include “Master Bates,” “Seaman Staines” or “Roger the Cabin Boy.”
In closing, it could be claimed that while the Donald provided at one time evidence that when it comes to impudent groping of the pudenda of pretty women, one can not be too rich or too blonde (granted, unlike tow-headed shiksas, fair-haired shaygetzs tend to be portrayed as villains in Hollywood production) his history also suggests that you can be too Republican to get away with it if one goes into politics.
I apologize for going on much too long, given that (Anders Behring – not in the same ballpark as the Bering Straits or the Jewish members of the band, Dire Straits) Breivik is arguably the “soul’ of (Norwegian) “wit” -though some mite/might itching to argue that he was about as “funny” and far more lethal than “Norwegian Scabies” – which can be treated with the prescription,Elimite (which is different than, say, the Sodomites or the Grecian presumably beer-guzzling Hoplites), especially if, unlike Helen of Troy or Jerry of Maguire, I already had the Reader or any coxless pairs at Hellespont – in a “square cut punt” – or coffin corner kick.
(-am desperately hoping that neither my Yiddisher Frau nor our daughter get wind of the above – Hoo Boy; would I get yelled at – or worse: fit only to preach to some Vienna Sausage Goy’s choir ala John Bobbitt – let alone being denied so much as a bit part in the rumored remake of Elia Kazan’s anti-communist allegory, “On The Waterfront” – “I,Stevedore”)

What does it mean to kiss "with permission" these days (or in 2006)?

    Replies: @guest, @Hippopotamusdrome

Nothing. Just remember, if a woman for whatever reason changes her mind, two seconds after the kiss, the next morning, or ten years later, suddenly it’s assault. That’s the way it works.

Lesson: never kiss women. That’s what the feminists and homos running our culture want.

"New accuser alleges Trump offered her $10,000 to accept private penthouse invitation"

    http://www.businessinsider.com/jessica-drake-trump-sexual-misconduct-2016-10

An 11th woman came forward Saturday to accuse Donald Trump of sexual misconduct, alleging that Trump or one of his associates once offered her $10,000 to accept a "private invitation" to his suite.

Drake said she accepted but brought two other women, as she "didn't feel right" going alone.

Once there, Drake said, Trump grabbed each woman tightly and kissed them without their consent.

After she left, Drake said she received calls from Trump, who she said asked her to return to his suite and invited her to a party.

When Drake declined, she said, Trump asked her, "What do you want? How much?"

After continuing to decline and saying she had to return to Los Angeles for work, Drake said she received another call, either from Trump or a man calling on his behalf, offering $10,000 and use of his private jet if she accepted his private invitation.

The fact that she is opening the online store obvioulsy explains the timing of her allegations. She wanted publicity, and what better way to get that than by attacking a presidential candidate.

I just happen to know of a pair of twin sisters who once were movie stars: Tiffany and Krystle Mataras who apparently starred in such classic films as “Problem Child 2” and “100,000 Zombie Heads.” I saw them on the Dog Whisperer. Very attractive, and fun to watch, because they tended to make the same surprised/amused/puzzled expressions in unison. Of course it all could have been rehearsed for self-promotion purposes. Here’s a link though I can’t watch it in Sweden.

I can only see it dubbed into German:

Yeah, but they were too lazy to wake up in time for various casting calls, such as for A Serious Man and such, so movie stars zei zenin nisht.

Still, I never got the impression that people were creeped out by the two of them. I think they’ve been rather popular there whole lives, whether together (which is rather often) or separate.

People mistake one for the other occasionally (I even saw my grandfather do so for a moment!) but that was about the extent of the awkwardness that I witnessed, and even that wasn’t very awkward. Growing up I’ve known other identical twin pairs as well and I don’t recall people being on settled by them. I guess different people’s mileage may very.

Anyway, Fyvush Finkel was great in "Boston Public", a weird lefty TV show from a decade or so ago, as the clueless bow-tied social studies teacher who still thought, in 2005, that the battles of 1962 had to be fought again and again. To a fan of the Yiddish theater from back in the day that must have been quite a thrill, sort of like the thrill I got when Alice the maid showed up in the Brady Bunch movie in 2005 or so as the same Alice we always knew and loved from, yes, back in the day - from way back in the day - but she had been driving a semi (a 16 WHEELER) since the show went off the air in the early 70s. SO MUCH had gone on in my life in the interim (not that i watched the Brady Bunch much, but it was a background to some days of my childhood) but there are few artistic effects more astounding than walking into a theater as a grown-up man and seeing a scene where Alice the Maid has been clandestinely driving a truck for the long decades since one was small, and offering a ride to one of the Brady sisters - a bad movie but a great scene, almost: as for me, one may have gone to war, had guns drawn on one two or three times, had one or two careers, eaten hundreds of good meals in dodgy truck stops, fathered a couple kids and grandfathered who knows how many potential grandkids (millions or billions, I hope!), worked like a dog day and night for tens of thousands of work days and often into the evening, fallen in and out of love with women who looked like Florence Henderson but without the excessive hairspray, thanks to the ongoing march of fashion: yet here was beloved Alice at the wheel of a truck, carrying on as if the years had meant nothing......

I think the proper plural of Elvis would be Elvēs. But we're all so illiterate in Latin now, that most would pronounce it the Santa/Keebler way.

I figured I’d simply use the form that seems to be used by some to describe groups of Elvis impersonators.

Come to think of it, Elvēs (or Elvus)—if spoken aloud— would probably be mistaken for a faux-Southern accented pronunciation of his name.

"Ms. Drake opened an online porn store the day before making these horrific accusations against Mr. Trump."

"Horrific" Is that the new adjective to describe men thinking about sex? A whore claims that a man offered her money for sex and/or companionship (not enough money, evidently) and it is "horrific"?

The fact that she is opening the online store obvioulsy explains the timing of her allegations. She wanted publicity, and what better way to get that than by attacking a presidential candidate.
