I saw this in college all the time. People have a very hard time with the idea of the establishment being flat wrong. On some level they assume that the establishment must at least be mostly true. It couldn’t be that all those experts are dishonest. Only certain personality types are able to see through the blinds.
I have seen this in conservatives that oppose the establishment. They still absorb a lot of the establishment messaging. Mainstream conservatism assumes a lot of liberalism is actually true but differs in its prescriptions. You can find articles by conservatives on how since we know that race doesn’t exist it must be Democrat programs that hold back Blacks. Are Democrats managing Africa?

That’s really more of an insecurity. I was born a smart kid and I thought my roughneck friends were great fun. In fact I still have fond memories of them.
But what you describe is a real problem with liberal men. They come from a background that embarrasses them and they want to prove they are just smart as their colleagues. So they adopt what they are told is the smart outlook (Marxism, fuzzy economics, human biology denial). When their outlook is threatened they double down instead of questioning it. They only tested symptomatic infection. It prevented symptomatic infection and also severe infection very efficiently, and the Russian and Chinese vaccines seem to do that, too. The ratio of symtomatic to asymptomatic infection in people of roughly the same age group as the trial population is around 80 %, so clearly, your numbers are wrong.
It doesn’t prevent aysmptomatic infection, but it’s way, way better than a naive immune system at preventing hospitalizations and death.
If you’re youngish it’s okay to go without the vaccine, for anyone 35 + it would be idiotic.

Well, not just in the way but actively stopping it. I you remember the scene from the commercial it’s taken from it’s a pretty neat subversion imo. This particular meme is more of an inside joke than a recruitment poster but it still has its place in reinforcing an idea.

Agreed. I should have chosen my words a little better. I don’t remember that commercial, I probably never saw it. I haven’t had a television for about 20 years and I block the advertisements from the interwebs. On the rare occasion that I watch TV I’m somewhat amazed by the commercials I see. They’re more abundant and different than they used to be.
