A Letter-to-the-Editor published in today’s New York Times:
For a Migrant Airlift to U.S.
APRIL 24, 2015To the Editor:
Re “Europe’s Duty on Migrants” (editorial, April 21): While it may be convenient to place responsibility for migrants created by the Arab Spring and North African political instability on the European Union, it shirks a responsibility that should also be borne by more distant countries. A migrant airlift could decompress the disaster facing a few Mediterranean countries overwhelmed by refugees seeking their shores.
America and other countries do not deserve a pass as your editorial spells out “Europe’s Duty” to the rushing tide of refugees.
HARVEY SHAPIRO
Del Mar, Calif.
As you may have noticed, I’ve been posting a lot of hyperbolic African population graphs lately.
So, for something completely different, here’s a screenshot of what Google puts up when you ask about the population of Dr. Shapiro’s Del Mar, the paradisiacal North San Diego County beach community that’s home to a lot of rich people.
(By the way, Zillow lists asking prices for residences in Del Mar ranging from one unit at a mere $975,000 on up to $39,500,000.)

Del Mar’s 1999 membership drive was a huge success. It drove out 1,000 members. Rimshot. (Nah, it was probably just a recalibration due to the 2000 Census.)
It’s almost as if Dr. Shapiro and the other residents of Del Mar like things just the way they are and don’t want a lot of outsiders moving in.
So, while Dr. Shapiro may be all for Americans, in general, taking in zillions of Africans, history suggests that not many of them would wind up in his municipality.
Dr. Shapiro is a retired UCSD neurosurgeon and former mayor of Del Mar. In other words, he’s smart enough to know better, but who, these days, will tell him? He assumes that the Snow Crash Raft is the result of refugees fleeing temporary political instability in Arab and North African countries, rather than by the long-term lack of contraceptive use by sub-Saharan Africans.
I’m riffing on Del Mar because a philanthropic zillionaire I know used to own a house four doors in from the the beach there, and he used to gallantly let me stay for free a few nights per year in his mother-in-law studio studio apartment in the backyard. It was the one place I could afford to vacation. In the top picture of this post you can see a restaurant on the sand where my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary a few year back, and then I taught her how to boogie board the next day.
But my patron of the intellectual arts friend sold his Del Mar house when Jerry Brown raised his taxes, so I haven’t been able to afford a non-working vacation in the years since I lost access to this kind freebie. On the other hand, I have a pretty nice life right where I am, writing for you about 345 to 350 days per year, so things like vacations are a luxury for me compared to priorities like getting my peeling house painted so my neighbors stop looking at me so funny.
By the way, did I mention it’s my Spring Panhandling Drive?
Sometimes I call off panhandling drives quickly because I get an over-the-top donation or two from extravagantly generous patrons. But I’m grinding this one out because, while I’ve been getting many much appreciated and admirable donations this month — and thank you very much for them — they’ve all been generously reasonable in size rather than jaw-droppingly lavish. For example, a reader kindly sent me an envelope with five $1 bills in it. (And, yes, Heidi at the SPLC, that $5 is definitely going on my 2015 tax return.)
So, once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.
I have seven ways for you to give me money, including Paypal, fee-free bank transfers, and multiple tax deductible methods via VDARE.com. I’ve even finally figured out how to get bitcoin working again, and thanks to all the generous bitcoin donors.
First: You can use PayPal (non-tax deductible to you) by going to the page on my old blog here. PayPal accepts most credit cards. Contributions can be either one-time only, monthly, or annual.
Third: You can make a tax deductible contribution to VDARE by clicking here. (Paypal and credit cards accepted, including recurring “subscription” donations.) If you send VDARE a check make sure to put “I like Steve Sailer” on the Memo line. Note: the VDARE site goes up and down on its own schedule, so if this link stops working, please let me know.
Fourth: if you have a Chase bank account (or even other bank accounts), you can transfer money to me (with no fees) via Chase QuickPay (FAQ). Just tell Chase QuickPay to send the money to my ancient AOL email address (steveslrATaol.com — replace the AT with the usual @). If Chase asks for the name on my account, it’s StevenSailer with an n at the end of Steven. (Non-tax deductible.) There is no 2.9% fee like there is with PayPal or Google Wallet, so this is good for large contributions. (On the other hand, large contributions are good in general, so feel more than free to send large contributions however you feel like.)
Fifth: if you have a Wells Fargo bank account, you can transfer money to me (with no fees) via Wells Fargo SurePay. Just tell WF SurePay to send the money to my ancient AOL email address steveslrAT aol.com — replace the AT with the usual @). (Non-tax deductible.) There is no 2.9% fee like there is with PayPal or Google Wallet, so this is good for large contributions.
Sixth: You can use Bitcoin. This is working well.
I’m using Coinbase as a sort of PayPal for Bitcoins.
The IRS has issued instructions regarding Bitcoins. I’m having Coinbase immediately turn all Bitcoins I receive into U.S. dollars and deposit them in my bank account. At the end of the year, Coinbase will presumably send me a 1099 form for filing my taxes.
Payments are not tax deductible.
Below are links to two Coinbase pages of mine. This first is if you want to enter a U.S. dollar-denominated amount to pay me.
Pay With Bitcoin (denominated in U.S. Dollars)
This second is if you want to enter a Bitcoin-denominated amount. (Remember one Bitcoin is currently worth many U.S. dollars.)
Pay With Bitcoin (denominated in Bitcoins)
Seventh: Google Wallet: send money via the Paypal-like Google Wallet to my Gmail address (that’s isteveslrATgmail .com — replace the AT with a @). (Non-tax deductible.)
Here’s the Google Wallet FAQ. I’ll put some more notes about how to use Google Wallet under the page break.
From it: “You will need to have (or sign up for) Google Wallet to send or receive money. If you have ever purchased anything on Google Play, then you most likely already have a Google Wallet. If you do not yet have a Google Wallet, don’t worry, the process is simple: go to wallet.google.com and follow the steps.” You probably already have a Google ID and password, which Google Wallet uses, so signing up Wallet is pretty painless. You can put money into your Google Wallet Balance from your bank account and send it with no service fee. Or you can send money via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover) with the industry-standard 2.9% fee. (You don’t need to put money into your Google Wallet Balance to do this.) Google Wallet works from both a website and a smartphone app(Android and iPhone — the Google Wallet app is currently available only in the U.S., but the Google Wallet website can be used in 160 countries). Or, once you sign up with Google Wallet, you can simply send money via credit card, bank transfer, or Wallet Balance as an attachment from Google’s free Gmail email service. Here’s how to do it. (Non-tax deductible.) Thanks!

If this is the Harvey Shapiro in question, he’s also the former mayor of Del Mar, and the writer of a novel on DNA doping.
Everywhere you can cite Israel as the country to emulate. Mr Shapiro won’t like that and point out that Israel is a Mediterranean country.
This is the middle-aged white man’s version of the “knockout game”. Harvey Shapiro, with the help of some useful multimedia visual aides… what’s that phrase go again?…
You been knocked the f*** out!
How many could be comfortably housed in the corrugated-tin shacks $39m would pay for?
Over there, I mean.
And one distinct Mediterranean country that is deliberately shirking its duty of taking more and more unfortunate ones in from Africa, a continent that is practically right at their own doorstep. Build a hire wired fence? How dare they indeed!
Wonder what exactly that spike in Del Mar’s population was about a decade or so ago? Was that when the Romney brood started moving in? And the decrease has been when some of them moved on to other areas? Would’ve sworn that this type of letter to the NYT would’ve come from a Malibu resident. Maybe the ‘bu is moving up in the world by learning to refrain from writing such letters. Keep the low profile on such matters and stay classy, ‘bu.
So that’s where the famous Del Mar racetrack that Bing, Bob, and Astaire would hang out is located.
Full circle would be if this Shapiro was one of Wendy’s original Broadway backers, aside of course from her own brother.
Mr. Shapiro’s letter shows us not mere chutzpah, but sheer gall.
Del Mar Demographics: The racial makeup of Del Mar was 3,912 (94.0%) White, 10 (0.2%) African American, eight (0.2%) Native American, 118 (2.8%) Asian, three (0.1%) Pacific Islander, 25 (0.6%) from other races, and 85 (2.0%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 175 persons (4.2%).
Del Mar sounds like it really needs some diversity and vibrancy. I propose some federal government-funded subsidized housing – 800 units or so, to be managed by a refugee relocation center.
And of course much of the instability in the Middle East is the very direct result of a war fought in part to create chaos for Israel’s benefit. Israel should take in a million Syrian refugees, at least.
When my wife was boogieboarding for our 25th anniversary, a rip tide suddenly sprang up. The lifeguard was there asking if she needed any help even before she noticed she wasn't getting closer to shore like she was supposed to be getting.

Yeah, it's not rocket science.
He used to be mayor of Del Mar.
See, the one thing I’ve learned from the Jews is…be energetic. I don’t think gentiles have lower IQ’s than Jews, but I do think we have less energy.
Gentiles like me have a plodding intelligence which is great for solving physics problems and other Tedious Engineering Problems…but not good for the culture war where Socializing is Key.
You can’t just be an engineer who solves problems all day…after work you still have to socialize for 3 hours if you want to compete on the Jewish level.
The bright side of this is…once you get going with this type of lifestyle it becomes second nature and it actually becomes hard to slow down and refocus back on tedious problems….this is why Gentiles create way better societies than Jews…yet at the same time have their societies so easily destroyed by Jews.
But where Jews seem to outgun Gentiles in pure numbers is highly-energetic, highly-motivated high-IQ (let's say 125+) people. Practically every Jewish person I've ever met has been seriously involved in several organizations, whether it be local charities, politics, religious activities, etc. They're always organizing, promoting and fund raising. Of course, I've known a few Jews who aren't running around all the time, but they're definitely not the norm - and, importantly, they feel really bad about their Gentile-level laziness.
Reminds me of when I was in high school and I ran a bit of track. There was this other guy who always beat me no matter how hard I tried. I asked the coach about it and he surprised me by saying that I'd likely never beat the other guy, at least not consistently. Part of it, he said, was that the other guy was a better runner, but mostly, it was because he "ran to run" while I "ran to finish the race." The other kid would train harder and longer than I would because he didn't even think of it as training. He just ran to run.
When it comes to organizing and debating and generally figuring a way to control things, Jews run for the shear joy of running. Gentiles do to it to reach a specific goal and then stop. We get tired. They don't.Replies: @Steve Sailer

A Youtube skit/channel idea: A joint production of Steve Sailer and Whirled Starch Hip Hop, it’s
“You Been Knocked the F*** Out!”
You spoof the antics and verbal creations typically seen in knockout videos on worldstarhiphop.com. Employing vibrant contemporary urban vernacular, three or four guys/gals sit around and relate stories such as the one in this blog post. Another example story would be the recent insanity surrounding the demographics of the publishing industry. Another might be Sabrina Rubin Erdely. Obviously, each video always ends in creative renditions of the immortal phrase, “You been knocked the f*** out” and raucous shouts of “Whirled Starch”.
Done with energy, I think I’d die laughing watching something like this.
Anybody got talent out there and willing to risk becoming persona non-grata from planet earth?
Mayor Shapiro sure didn’t destroy Del Mar. It’s looking very stroyed these days.
Turning Florence into Detroit, however, well …
Retired, pioneering anesthesiologist. Who had two sons, one of whom, a drummer, has been deceased for 13 years. And he spends his winters skiing and his summers mountain biking in Utah. But doesn’t surf or play golf despite living in Del Mar and being a physician. And he admits to having read 50 Shades of Gray.
This guy sounds like an odd duck.
Larry David has a play on Broadway now and I don’t know if he’s planning to do another season of Curbed, but this letter should inspire him. Larry should host some African migrants, like he hosted the family of Katrina refugees (“the Blacks”).
He could cast the lead pirate from Captain Philips as one of the migrants – I read somewhere that he’s out of work and disgruntled about how little he got for the movie.
Bring back J.B. Smoove and the season would write itself.
He only mentioned America by name, and “other countries” — I wonder if he thinks Japan should take in waves of African refugees? They’re really good at building microapartments to efficiently house lots of people, and their population is declining, so why not fill all those newly-vacant boxes in Tokyo with Nigerians?
This guy sounds like an odd duck.Replies: @Steve Sailer, @fish
He sounds like the kind of guy who is smart enough to get what’s at stake — will Florence become Detroit — if the press would level with him about what’s really going.
Do you really think Shapiro needs the press to level with him about what's really going on? He knows all he needs to know about what's going on, which is that whatever it is, he's well-insulated from the deleterious effects of it for life.
Or do you think the print version of his letter to the NYT editor included the number of African immigrants he was willing to house on his property?
Why are the Bangladeshis in Libya? Were they part of some program under Gaddafi? Are they hoping to be mistaken for Libyans and ultimately to be granted asylum in Sweden? It doesn't seem to make any logistical sense.
I wonder if he reads the Economist. Maybe the press is starting to level just a tiny bit. Note this sentence in their editorial (“leader”):
Americans, even people who read this blog, are probably not aware of just how big the backlash against immigration has become across Europe. We have to make the same thing happen here. The biggest obstacle is that our "right wing" media is pro-open borders Fox News rather than the Daily Mail.Replies: @Anonym
The beach at Del Mar has a reef offshore that keeps the surf from getting too dangerous, so it’s ideal for rich grandparents who want a safe beach for their grandchildren. You can still get big enough waves to ride boogie boards, although the surfing and bodysurfing is a little weak. The lifeguard services are outstanding.
When my wife was boogieboarding for our 25th anniversary, a rip tide suddenly sprang up. The lifeguard was there asking if she needed any help even before she noticed she wasn’t getting closer to shore like she was supposed to be getting.
My observations of people on the beach at Del Mar, where you are allowed to bring your dog: no pit bulls and no tattoos.
Why would you want that?
Making things too secure, makes people take too big risks, so I doubt they make anything much safer.
Americans don't have to force their children to wear an embarrassing life west, or watch it with hawk eyes, until they are good enough swimmers to swim against the tides, because there is a life guard there?
It's one of the those deals where just a tiny bit of knowledge about what is happening suffices to pretty much eliminate the risk--at least for folks who know how to swim and actually belong in the water.
Most people who drown in rip currents, just don't understand what is happening. And it's of much more limited use to try and direct them when they are in the situation and panicking.
Explain rip currents, how to identify them and most importantly how to escape them to your kids before you go to the beach and again at the beach ... and they'll be fine.Replies: @Wilkey, @Dave Pinsen
In the summer of 1955 or so I and my two sisters were staying with our grandmother there (she was taking a cottage for a few weeks to see her son, who was in charge of publicity at the race track). We were free to do what we liked, and what we liked was usually to wander around the beach and shore areas, wading in the tide pools (or was that Laguna Beach?) and just, well, playing (I was seven or eight; they younger).
One day we were exploring the railroad tracks (no, I am not making this up). At some point my guardian angel told me in a loud whisper to GET OFF THEM NOW, and to take my sisters with me. I obeyed, like a well brought up Catholic boy should. Literally within seconds a train came round the bend at full speed, passing with impressive emphasis over where we had just been lolling in tow-headed innocence.
I often wonder if the driver (who saw us) ever had a good night's sleep again.
One of my favorite lines from one of my favorite Westerns:

The Stranger: I’m not your brother.
Preacher: We are all brothers in the eyes of God.
The Stranger: All these people, are they your sisters and brothers?
Preacher: They most certainly are.
The Stranger: …Then you won’t mind if they come over and stay at your place, will ya?

Steve,
Not to get too intrusive but I did a quick search on WhitePages and this seems to be his residence. It’s a townhouse overlooking the ocean.
…
A quick Zillow search gives an estimate of approx $1.5MM. Also, a search on GoogleMaps and Google street view shows that his townhouse complex backs up to a nature preserve. Also, if you go on Google street view, there is an undeveloped plot of land across the street with unobstructed views of the ocean. Something tells me that he isn’t willing to put up any refugee houses on those plots of land.
Harvey Shapiro’s house, which has a clear view of the ocean and is steps from the beach (but not actually beachfront), backs up to a government nature reserve. Perhaps someone could suggest to him to use his clout to lobby the government to settle the refugees in the parkland. Hopefully he hasn’t actually lobbied to block development of that parkland, because that would create an awkward conversation.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Dr. Shapiro or his neighbors own slum housing across our country. I’m serious. In the line of duty (business) I have had to meet many of these a**hole slumlords who have invested in poorly maintained crap housing where their favorite third worlders and minorities pay too much for rent. To hell with Dr. S and his fellow ‘lords.
BTW: many of those “investors” have nasty personalities and clearly don’t give a flying ***k about who pays them rent. I’m talking neurotic, obnoxious characters here. F ’em.

I agree with this 100%. My job has me interviewing thousands of people a year, from CEOs of corporations and federal judges to construction laborers and secretaries. I see definite patterns. Unmistakeable patterns when it comes to people. Jews tend to be extremely conscientious, curious (almost child-like), down-to-earth (no BS), and indefatigably hard working. Even when they’ve reached a level where they could coast (IMO), they don’t. Most white Gentiles come across like they view work as a necessary evil and their biggest priority is enjoying leisure time. And, ironically, Gentiles tend to be a lot more guarded and size you up for what’s in it for them. Not to be captain obvious with this one, but Asians also tend to be very hardworking. I sometimes wonder if IQ is related to laziness?
Just my impressions.
But I think you know that.
It posits that if Gentiles could receive a magic beer can and fishing rod and just spend the rest of their lives fishing on a diet of Molson Canadian, they would be very happy to do so, whereas if the Jew had an option of not working any more they would still freely choose the office and the coronary (in other words, they're actually not chasing money). The passage is written to clearly approve of this tendency, but also shows how Gentiles would resent this sincerity.Replies: @Anonymous

Our politicians and public officials are trained and selected to give stuff away. Other people’s stuff. This worked back in the day around the hunter/gatherer campfire when there wasn’t that much to give away and we had small group dynamics to limit the damage such a policy writ large could render.
But now we have the industrial age, and along with too much sugar, we have too many sugar daddy politicians who give our future away with impunity.

I’ve noticed the same thing. I disagree with you that Jews don’t have an average IQ advantage over whites, but, just by the population size differences, the number of high-IQ Gentiles will easy match up and, indeed, overwhelm the number of high-IQ Jews, though that advantage may disappear at the very highest level.
But where Jews seem to outgun Gentiles in pure numbers is highly-energetic, highly-motivated high-IQ (let’s say 125+) people. Be careful; don’t go and tell Shapiro that we’re experiencing a similar deluge of people from our south.
Just when I read this and decide you really are a genius…

Or do you think the print version of his letter to the NYT editor included the number of African immigrants he was willing to house on his property?
This also shows the power of the MSM to shape public opinion via the 24 hour news cycle. Would Dr. Shapiro even think about solving the problem of African migrants on the Mediterranean if it were not constantly in the news? Many stories are reported, but the ones the media zeros in on get blown out of proportion and suddenly become hot issues that America must solve.
In reality the number of Africans killed on the Mediterranean is very small, and in the grand scheme of things is of very little significance. I am sure there are other migrants around the world dying in their journeys to reach their destinations, e.g. Bangladeshis trying to get to India and Africans trying to get to Israel. But since those stories are not heavily reported, it is a case of out of mind, out of sight. Meanwhile what is happening on the Med is akin to a human catastrophe and must be immediately addressed.
I wonder how long before it becomes a campaign issue for the 2016 election.
One more thing, I think suggestions like this airlift and the whole industry of resettling refugees reflect that today’s social justice warrior is just not as tough as his predecessor.
In the past the Peace Corps was where young SJWs would go to volunteer and teach the locals in some hell hole about improving their lot in life. Admittedly that was tough because the SJWs had to live among the locals in the very hell hole they were trying to improve. Without the comforts of a first world civilization, and with what must have been the very depressing nature of seeing the locals’ culture up close and personal, it must have taken a strong person to see it through.
What fun is that? Today’s SJWs don’t need to join the Peace Corps to get their cred. They can grease the wheels to just import entire villages of poor third worlders into the West, and dump them onto the public dole into someone else’s neighborhood. What could be better? You get the satisfaction of having helped some poor third worlders improve their lot in life, you didn’t have to sacrifice the creature comforts of home, waste three years of your youth, and best of all you don’t have to deal with them.
Even religious people are getting in on this act. Where Mother Teresa once went to Calcutta to tend to the poor, today’s pious are trying to bring Calcutta here.
In the long run it would probably be better for our SJWs to take it on the road. As Steve’s graphs have pointed out, there are far too many third worlders alive and in the pipeline for us to help in the West. They need to improve their lots at home, and SJWs can do more good there than they can here.
Of course developing the third world, especially Africa, is going to take more than just SJWs. It is going to take businesses deciding not build every last item in China, and farming out more light manufacturing to these impoverished nations. But that is another topic…

I think Steve and a lot of the commenters here suffer from the “curse of knowledge” when it comes to these real estate/zoning issues. When you study this stuff for years, you develop a sophisticated understanding that few other people have, and it becomes harder for you to see things through the eyes of normal people.
I’m an architect in a rich, super blue state area, and I’ve worked on some pretty contentious residential development projects. Right now I’m doing one that’s gotten a lot of negative press, so lately I’ve been going to “community meetings” where I smile politely while the prosperous, highly-educated residents yell at me.
These people are generally progressive and very much on board with all the diversity stuff. One of the (white) women who’s spearheading the effort to kill our project has some kind of consulting relationship with the city, and is involved in diversifying the ranks of city workers. Her social media accounts are filled with diversity happytalk, along with some invective towards our client. Of course her neighborhood’s almost all white.
A lot of readers here would call people like her cynical hypocrites, who create zoning policies in a conscious attempt to exempt themselves from the problems they impose on others, segregationists in liberal clothing. If that’s the case, I’ve got to say that they hide it well. Even though they’re smart and highly educated, I don’t think they fully think through all of the consequences of their positions. They tend to be motivated by things like views from their living rooms, petty grudges against local business owners, or a reflexive hostility towards developers (who are “corporations”, a word they say like it’s a curse). The whiteness of liberal Portlandia is probably more a product of absentmindedness than of cynical realism.
How about a review of the Disney Nature film Monkey Kingdom that’s out now? Saw it last night and thought it was decidedly un-PC, at least if one makes the obvious analogies to human societies. Of course, I never know how much these nature docs represent actual happenings rather than simply creative editing and storytelling.
Monkey Kingdom tells the story of a rigidly hierarchical society of monkeys living in some ancient ruins in Sri Lanka. The plucky protagonist Maya is a female monkey of low rank who must constantly struggle to obtain decent food while the alpha male Raja and his harem of meanie queenies live the high life while eating the ripest figs on the top of the biggest tree in town, and lazily recline on their Castle Rock while being constantly groomed and pampered by their social inferiors. Maya gets knocked up by a good-looking newcomer named Kumar, whose apparent alpha-ness poses a threat to Raja’s dominance, so Raja and his lieutenants run Kumar out of town.
The stable social order is overturned when a competing group of monkeys attacks Castle Rock, forcing Raja and his entire group to flee. For a while, Raja’s group wanders through the woods and then a bustling city, stealing food from humans. In this chaos, Raja and his queens lose their social status, and the upstart Kumar emerges as a natural leader, with Maya and his son at his side.
Soon the monkeys tire of their wanderings through the wilderness and want to have a place of their own again. Kumar leads the group back to their homeland of Castle Rock and wages a successful reconquista to kick out the invaders and reclaim their rightful home. And then the monkeys lived happily ever after with Kumar as the new alpha, Maya as his queen, and two baby monkeys completing the happy family.
The movie basically says there are only so many good places to live (Castle Rock, Del Mar, etc.), and there are always competing groups that would like to push you off your prime real estate. The movie made no effort to make the viewer feel sorry for the invading group of monkeys who, after all, just wanted access to the same nice spot and juicy figs that the first group enjoyed. It was as if “BECAUSE WE LIVE HERE” was a perfectly good reason for the monkeys to defend their home and prevent it from being overrun by a competing group. Also, the movie upheld a strictly hierarchical view of society. There was a temporary egalitarianism during the wandering period, which allowed the social deck to be reshuffled. When the monkeys resettled at Castle Rock, Kumar and Maya took their natural places at the top of the new hierarchy.
If anything’s going to be done to fix messes like the Mediterranean refugee crisis it’ll be done in spite of, rather than with the kind permission of, the New York Times or any mainstream institution like it.

If you Google the name of a country + population you get a graph of that country’s population growth. Nigeria has experienced solid, consistent population growth at or above 2.5% a year since 1973, and has been over 2% annual growth from where its graph starts in 1960. The growth rate has not slowed down, and in fact has ticked up a bit in recent years.
If the USA were growing at that rate our population would hit 2.5 billion people by the end of the century, and in the last years of the century we’d be adding over 60 million per year.
There is no way this is sustainable. There is no way, absent mandatory birth control, that this problem doesn’t solve itself in very brutal fashion. The only thing we can do is keep from making their problem our problem.

OT for the end of the West, but a story about safety in Del Mar in the old days:
I often wonder if the driver (who saw us) ever had a good night’s sleep again.
Steve, the guy can’t get the point because of how his wealth is formed. Recall that in the 19th Century, labor (ordinary White guys) and property owners alike in the West cooperated to pass the Chinese Exclusion Act. Now, the standard propaganda is that this was the result of innate White Guy Racism, but laborers did not want to have their standard of living cratered to that of the average Chinese coolie when 20 million or so moved over to the West Coast of America. And property owners figured enough Chinese, they’d vote or act to seize their property.
Thus, working men AND property owners had a self-interest in keeping lots of dirt poor people from another race out of the West Coast of America, the former to keep their wages up and the latter to keep their wealth (land, mostly) intact.
I’d bet that the retired neurosurgeon has nearly all his wealth not in property (taxes in Del Mar are likely to be high) but in stocks, bonds, and other financial instruments like Bill Gates. If Bill Gates was a landowner and that was his principal source of wealth, like 19th Century railroad tycoons his desire for cheap labor would be balanced by a fear of his physical property being seized/nationalized by a vast pool of people from a different race, language, culture, and religion.
The problem in Europe is not enough rich property owners fearing seizure of their wealth; instead they own corporate shares and financial instruments.
Blaming Jews is stupid — people will be no worse or better than their own self-interest. This was something the Founding Fathers understood. Western societies have been wrecked because we depend on super hero levels of morality instead of aligned naked self interest. Donald Trump is not a moral superhero — its just most of his wealth is in land which is easy to confiscate vs. financial instruments (which can be moved/sold easily ahead of any move to seize them by a non-White populist movement).

Early in the film, Hazel purchases a house that is eternally on fire. At first showing reluctance to buy it, Hazel remarks to the real estate agent, “I like it, I do. But I’m really concerned about dying in the fire,” which prompts the response “It’s a big decision, how one prefers to die.” In an interview with Michael GuillĂ©n, Kaufman stated, “Well, she made the choice to live there. In fact, she says in the scene just before she dies that the end is built into the beginning. That’s exactly what happens there. She chooses to live in this house. She’s afraid it’s going to kill her but she stays there and it does. That is the truth about any choice that we make. We make choices that resonate throughout our lives.”[9] The burning house has been compared to the Tennessee Williams quote: “We all live in a house on fire, no fire department to call; no way out, just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns the house down with us trapped, locked in it.”” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synecdoche,_New_York

A lot of the resentment over gentile country clubs perpetrating the Golfocaust is a matter of Jews projecting their own tendencies — e.g., you join a country club to eat and schmooze about business opportunities and insider investments, like how Bernie Madoff can get you a consistent 12% return year after year — and not realizing that WASPs join country clubs more to golf and drink and get away from thinking about business.

If someone whose policies you hate, and you hate him also …. when he is proved to be a hypocrite regarding those views ….. it’s a good thing. A double negative if you will.
As a larger point, the extent to which the actual functioning of government runs independently of the narrative can be surprising.
A cop can be really awful without being criminal. I think it is a shame that police officials can’t just apologize and pay some damages. It just isn’t the way it works here. Except the guy who stole the horse and the cops beat the shit out of him…. It has already been settled. In Madison, the cops never quit apologizing. And then the facts came out that the victim was a perp, 1/2 crazy, dangerous, and messing with other blacks. It is hard for anyone to work up too much rage for such an unsympathetic victim.
After looking at some data, maybe 1/2 of police killings are 100% justified .. a shootout with a felon. Some other ones seem pretty reasonable. Others seem to me to be situations where my impression is ‘did they really have to kill the guy’. And then you get the outliers that are indefensible.
I am really surprised at how few shootings are obviously wrong. Maybe 1-3%.
An extreme example of this is the annual get-together of the Conquistadores del Cielo, i.e., airline executives, at the A Bar A Ranch in Wyoming.

This is a very corporate approach to damage control. Get it out of the papers ASAP at a reasonable cost.
Another approach that is filtering down to government is to have strict policies, documented training, a signature acknowledging the training, and official, public insistence that ‘behavior won’t be tolerated’.
Then it is business as usual, and when something bad goes down, throw the employee under the bus.
Obama’s administration is good at it. The Republicans just can’t get a decent scandal that reaches up to important positions. Which is just as well, because the real ‘crimes’ are bad policies, not someone stealing some money or sketchy sexual behavior.
Well Jews are paranoid people who think gentiles are conspiring against them. If you think this way any all-gentile gathering, no matter how innocuous, will make you nervous.

I have known and have worked for some very wealthy people, some Jewish, some not. I don’t think that’s the defining characteristic. What I do think is the defining characteristic is insecurity, combined with a constant need to do more, that ends up yielding workaholics who tend to be controlling and never are able to really relax. It hurts them more as they get older, because they’ve spent all their time in the rat race and rarely have any outside interests or the discipline to pursue such interests when it gets harder to work fulltime.
That guy on the beach? Looks like half a dozen guys I know. And I would bet that he walked down to the shore to inspect it, and inspect the sea, and he’s going to turn around after two minutes and get right back to work. That’s the way it is.

I have to say, I genuinely just don’t get people like this Dr. Shapiro.
Doesn’t it just bug him a little bit to be such an flagrant hypocrite? I just could never see myself preaching the sort of things he does to other people precisely because I’d know how much of hypocrite I’d be. But a deep comfort with their own hypocrisy seems to be a basic feature of certain people. I don’t know what they say to themselves to make it all seem right.
Some people just get off on power trips. It's human nature to measure how well you are doing relative to others, but people like Dr. Shapiro take it to extremes. It's not enough that he's wealthier than 97% of his fellow Americans. He wants to be better off than 99.7% of them. The easiest way to do that is to make everyone else poorer.
Yes, a remarkable lack of self-awareness.
I really need to stop smoking dope. That went right over my head.
I think you misunderstand. Yes, I do interview federal judges. Most often as references for elite law school classmates getting high-level appointments. Or as a coworker/supervisor for DOJ clearances.
Btw, I’m glad I didn’t mention some of the people I interview for Yankee White security clearances. You’d really be incredulous.

“A migrant airlift could decompress the disaster facing a few Mediterranean countries overwhelmed by refugees seeking their shores.”
Good Dr. Shapiro! You are SO Right.
The migrant airlift can be designed as sort of a tree of routes that fan out from the air-bases where the Western navies deliver the refugees. You can basically have one line of flights that goes down through the major cities in the eastern part of Africa, all the way to South Africa, another that visits all the cities on the eastern side of Africa, and one that sort of goes through the middle and follows the path of the Rift Valley.
Here’s a nice map that can help!

You don’t want to keep people separated from their families for too long.
Western military transport aircrews need to maintain their routine flying hours to stay proficient anyway.
If any country in Africa needed more immigrants, immigrants should be allowed to get off there.
Win-win, as they say.
I read that article in the Economist too and though the same thing. It seems like a big improvement in their position. Is this the first time they have admitted that perhaps immigration cannot be unlimited?
Americans, even people who read this blog, are probably not aware of just how big the backlash against immigration has become across Europe. We have to make the same thing happen here. The biggest obstacle is that our “right wing” media is pro-open borders Fox News rather than the Daily Mail.

Just as an example of what I’m talking about, I know a very smart guy who is opposed to pornography on basically the standard feminist grounds. And I’ve heard about how he has excoriated some people he knows — males of course — because they use pornography.
But the thing is, I also know from someone in a position to know that he himself uses pornography on a regular basis.
How does one do this and feel right about it? If morality is your thing, so much so that you can’t stop talking about it, why isn’t hypocrisy the thing you really, really want to avoid?
I can sort of see how someone might be opposed to pornography, but out of, well, the weakness of the flesh, might indulge nonetheless. But the thing is that the guy goes out of his way to condemn people who do exactly the same thing he does. Why doesn’t he feel instead the impulse to shut up his denunciations of others because of his own behavior?
I really just don’t get the tricks of the psyche these people employ to keep themselves right in their head.

I’ve been around successful Jews a fair amount. In addition to their intelligence and work ethic, I think a lot of their success comes from solidly entrenched jewish Old Boys Clubs and good inter-generational family networking.
Gentiles (well, white males) are in an odd position, in that they pretty much can’t have Old Boys Clubs in institutions, while everyone else can have ethnic Old Boys Clubs, indeed, it’s encouraged. (The campus xyz club, or the company xyz group, etc..) In many places (such as Silicon Valley) Old Boys Clubs have a significant economic and financial angle and probably correlate with individual success. Access and all that.
Gentiles often seem to have weak inter-generational family focus, with the children leaving the home to seek their own fortune in the big city, and all that, with limited input from their parents along the way. This seems particularly true in the US since the 60s, with many social forces actively encouraging hostility between generations. As has been mentioned here a number of times, Jews might suffer less from this because many “Jewish issues” might be designed to keep children in line.

What about Barbados, the Bahamas, Botswana and the handful of other African nations people are always quick to bring up in posts about whether or not blacks are capable of running prosperous nations? Something rarely mentioned in connection to this is the divorce rate, which sky-rocketed in the 60s. Even with good will on both sides, relations between step-parents and step-children are often strained, and kids will be much more eager to bail out of home if they’re not living with their natural parents.

This conforms to my experience and observations as well. Contrary to conventional wisdom, being in the minority can be a source of tremendous power. The source of an Old Boy’s Network ultimately lies in its exploitation of those not in the Old Boy’s Network. It’s a lot easier for 1% to gain a lot of power by exploiting the other 99% than the reverse. This goes for many minority economic networks other than Jews, including, e.g., Armenians in L.A. (I think) and even Chinese and Taiwanese networks throughout the world. And it’s a lot easier to keep the children in line when they believe they cannot live without their heritage and community. Another shameful, disgusting impact of the Left’s control of the media and the narrative in this country is how they have so actively and aggressively destroyed any possibility that the average white American can feel proud of their heritage. Only select groups, e.g., Jews, can be brought up to feel proud of their heritage. Oh, and the Irish. They can feel proud of their rowdy drinking orgies on St. Patrick’s Day.
Non-Jews who go with a Jewish friend and go to celebrate the things they like about Judaism are welcome. The high Jewish intermarriage rate means you'll see people with a range of appearances including completely NW European, like Gwyneth Paltrow's quarter-Jewish children, so you won't stand out, and nobody will know you're not Jewish.
But you'll find that Jewish events are 100% useless for networking. You'll get better returns on your time by just going to a normal event for your industry. People from Harvard have good networks not because they went to Harvard, but because they were smart enough to get into Harvard. Building a professional network is the easy part.Replies: @BayAreaBill

When you believe you’re God’s Chosen people, you really do think you should get to do what you want.
If you, as a Chosenite, truly believe that it’s right that there be two sets of rules (one set for you and the rest of the Chosen folks and another set for the non-chosen masses) then charges of hypocrisy will bother you not one whit. It would only be hypocrisy in your mind if you, as a Jew, told other *Jews* to do as you say and not as you do.

Yes, a remarkable lack of self-awareness.
I'm an architect in a rich, super blue state area, and I've worked on some pretty contentious residential development projects. Right now I'm doing one that's gotten a lot of negative press, so lately I've been going to "community meetings" where I smile politely while the prosperous, highly-educated residents yell at me.
These people are generally progressive and very much on board with all the diversity stuff. One of the (white) women who's spearheading the effort to kill our project has some kind of consulting relationship with the city, and is involved in diversifying the ranks of city workers. Her social media accounts are filled with diversity happytalk, along with some invective towards our client. Of course her neighborhood's almost all white.
A lot of readers here would call people like her cynical hypocrites, who create zoning policies in a conscious attempt to exempt themselves from the problems they impose on others, segregationists in liberal clothing. If that's the case, I've got to say that they hide it well. Even though they're smart and highly educated, I don't think they fully think through all of the consequences of their positions. They tend to be motivated by things like views from their living rooms, petty grudges against local business owners, or a reflexive hostility towards developers (who are "corporations", a word they say like it's a curse). The whiteness of liberal Portlandia is probably more a product of absentmindedness than of cynical realism.Replies: @Beach

Many sites showcase the most-liked comments.
Bar journals, newspapers, and legal websites all routinely interview federal judges.
They tend to be boring and repetitive, blandly praising the virtues of civility, hard work, punctuality, brevity, and volunteerism.
In the Daily Mail comment threads, it’s giving a thumbs-up to a comment. There’s frequent arguing in the threads over whether the practice is subject to organised manipulation, especially where immigration articles are concerned.
Green-arrowing = “liking” Internet comments by clicking the green arrow (or thumbs-up sign)
Many sites showcase the most-liked comments.
They also ‘moderate comments’ on racial issues.
Just reading my comment and realizing that I wasn’t being overly clear. From what I can tell, the DM is not anti-immigration. But the comments section is one of the big draws of that news site, and it is very much pro-UKIP, except on odd occasions. Hence my comments, and why people get the impression that the DM is anti-immigration.
Through comments, the Overton window is being shifted rapidly. It’s pretty cool. The green/red arrow thing means that you can see and sort in real time as to what’s popular. I know this is kind of old hat, but lefties used to be able to write literate, faux-altruistic but obtuse comments that were given equal weight, but these days on sites like that you can see such comments are overwhelmingly hated (via the red arrows).

Jewish nepotism shouldn’t be underestimated, from funding start ups to hiring someone to admission to top universities it makes all the difference. Look at Sheryl Sandberg or Elena Kagan, there were some far more qualified and talented goys who never got the chance.
There is a book from the 1900s called … I’m going to have to look it up. It’s not The Conquering Jew by John Foster Fraser, it’s similarly titled. It’s part of a weird genre of philo-Semitic but often objective polemics which today come across as anti-Semitic (Henry Ford’s book probably fits here, but nobody actually reads it). Anyway it has a passage that is very close to this.
It posits that if Gentiles could receive a magic beer can and fishing rod and just spend the rest of their lives fishing on a diet of Molson Canadian, they would be very happy to do so, whereas if the Jew had an option of not working any more they would still freely choose the office and the coronary (in other words, they’re actually not chasing money). The passage is written to clearly approve of this tendency, but also shows how Gentiles would resent this sincerity.
This sounds kind of like a stereotype of a certain type of Gentile. I don't think it's very universal.
I never got the Botswana love. It has a fairly strict government (they are fond of their hangings, unlike liberal, crime-infested South Africa), but it’s a country with a small population propped up by the De Beers cartel. What would be interesting is if a pan-Tswana nationalist movement arose. If the North West province of South Africa (notice the deliberately non-ethnic name) which supplies most of the world’s platinum, and is a the home to most Tswanas were to combine with Botswana, we could see if the Botswana exception would still hold. Currently, the North West province is just as crime ridden, uneducated and corrupt as the rest of South Africa.
See, the one thing I've learned from the Jews is...be energetic. I don't think gentiles have lower IQ's than Jews, but I do think we have less energy.
Gentiles like me have a plodding intelligence which is great for solving physics problems and other Tedious Engineering Problems...but not good for the culture war where Socializing is Key.
You can't just be an engineer who solves problems all day...after work you still have to socialize for 3 hours if you want to compete on the Jewish level.
The bright side of this is...once you get going with this type of lifestyle it becomes second nature and it actually becomes hard to slow down and refocus back on tedious problems....this is why Gentiles create way better societies than Jews...yet at the same time have their societies so easily destroyed by Jews.Replies: @Anonymous, @Citizen of a Silly Country, @Anonymous, @SPMoore8, @Reg Cæsar

Another mystery of the 20th century is how so many Western churches seem to have gone off the rails. Most religions seem to have a notion of “the flock”, the population that they serve, the tribe they “keep alive”. Western religions seem to have veered off into theology, ideology, and theory, instead of serving the community of their adherents and their historical base. It’s as if they wouldn’t be caught dead working on behalf of community of their traditional adherents. Instead their mission is the exact opposite. It’s become all take and no give. Perhaps they tried to become “universal” and failed.
They say science and the modern world killed religion, but the human need for community and a belief in the future is as necessary as ever. The Western churches seem to have missed all this. As a whole, they sure don’t seem to be “on our side”.

I'm actually not quite sure what your point is. You say, "You'll find that Jewish events are 100% useless for networking." Does "networking" really take place through "networking events"? I suspect economic networks form and are sustained in more subtle ways than people merely bumping into one another at events designed to promote new friendships. If there is a Jewish old boy's network, might it not function simply by Jews preferring to work with fellow Jews (or with people with similar sentiments, life experiences, etc.), rather than the greater likelihood of Jews meeting future business associates at Jewish events?
To give a hypothetical example, imagine a bunch of guys who really like twitch video games with awesome 3D visuals getting excited about the same kinds of new technologies. But it was the video games that allowed them to initially build trust. They say:
"I know that guy. He's okay. I trust him because I see myself in him. He's like me."
Might the same dynamic be at work in economic minority social networks, e.g., among Jews? And if the economic minority has a deeply ingrained distrust for outsiders, obviously the thought process I suggest in the previous paragraph is all the more likely.Replies: @Southfarthing

Your description could be plausible if Jews tend to marry other Jews, but non-Orthodox Jews (i.e. Jews with careers) generally marry gentiles.

I’m part-Jewish, and I’ve been to a small number of Jewish religious events in Silicon Valley. I didn’t continue going because, while the people were smart and very nice, in my normal social life I make friends who are more relevant to my lifestyle and work, and are on average more influential.
Not a lot of careerist city folks go to religious services these days, so I don’t find my experience to be very surprising.
Your description could be plausible if Jews tend to marry other Jews, but non-Orthodox Jews (i.e. Jews with careers) generally marry gentiles.
Max Levchin and Peter Thiel founded Paypal together because they wanted to succeed, and were from the same tribe: very smart tech nerds with a libertarian bent. Likewise, the most profitable investment in history belongs to Peter Thiel rather than an investor with Jewish ancestry because Mark Zuckerberg and Peter Thiel belonged to that same tribe.

I think you're arguing for the null hypothesis that Jews exhibit zero in-group favoritism in business networks and maybe even social networks. I really doubt that. Wouldn't that make Jews unique among pretty much all ethnic groups, who seem to uniformly have an in-group bias? And wouldn't that hypothesis look laughably incongruous when viewed against the centuries, even millennia, of intact and relatively isolated Jewish communities and business networks surviving within dozens or even hundreds of different nations? Or maybe, you know, this insularity is really all the "fault" of the host nations?
Personally, what I'm more interested in is how to inculcate some of the values that have made Jews so successful into my own children. One of my 9-year old son's Jewish friends recently told me about how his name Daniel comes from the Torah. He said the Babylonians hated Daniel because he was successful and favored by the king, and the Babylonians tried to kill him. Talk about inculcating ethnic solidarity and distrust in the out-group! That parable will last him a lifetime.
Admittedly, there is a reasonable chance that Jewish in-group favoritism has changed a lot in the US in recent decades. After all, Jews are ascendant. There's really not much for them to fear in any type of resurgent Gentile economic networks. The Mormons or the Armenians ain't gonna take over any time soon. And Silicon Valley? Everything in Silicon Valley is always changing. I've never observed a clear Jewish "old boy's network" in Silicon Valley. There are many, many Jewish cliques, but they typically form for very good rational/technical/business reasons. That might be because Jews are completely killing it in Silicon Valley. There's not even a reason to try to form any type of exclusive network.

I don’t know. Again, I’m not quite sure what your point is, other than that you seem to disagree with me. Isn’t your point about like-minded libertarians banding together to form a startup pretty much identical with my point concerning video game loving techies forming startup? I never said religious networking events have anything to do with anything.
