From the Washington Post:

Officials blame outsiders for violence in Minnesota but contradict one another on who is responsible
By Shane Harris
May 30, 2020 at 5:39 p.m. PDT

… Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) told reporters he had no doubt that protests over Floyd’s death began with Minnesotans frustrated and outraged “with inequality, inequities and quite honestly racism that persisted” in the state.

But state officials have assessed that up to 80 percent of those protesting or rioting came from outside Minnesota, Walz said. He suggested that far-right white supremacists and perhaps organized drug cartels were chiefly responsible.

A federal law enforcement official was not aware of any intelligence about cartels infiltrating the protests.

But according to local officials, most people arrested in protest-related incidents were state residents.

… State officials said that after reviewing posts online, they were confident far-right racist groups had encouraged their followers to descend on the state and take advantage of the crisis.

John Harrington, commissioner of Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety, said officials were “checking to see, are they part of an organized criminal organization?”

“Is this organized crime? Is this an organized cell of terror?” he said, referring to posts by white nationalist groups.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) said local law enforcement had been “overwhelmed” by the huge number of people on his city’s streets.

“We are now confronting white supremacists, members of organized crime, out-of-state instigators, and possibly even foreign actors to destroy and destabilize our city and our region,” he said.

Walz suggested that U.S. intelligence agencies were providing the state with information about who was behind the protests, implying that the National Security Agency, which monitors foreign governments and terrorist organizations, might be playing a role.

U.S. officials dismissed those claims, noting that, by law, the NSA does not monitor domestic political activities. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence, were also skeptical that foreigners were taking part in protests or had helped organized them. Foreign media, including Chinese and Russian sources, have sought to portray the violence as emblematic of systemic political failings in the United States.

State officials weren’t the only ones trying to pin protests in Minneapolis and other cities on politically motivated outsiders.

“The voices of peaceful protest are being hijacked by violent radical elements,” Attorney General William P. Barr said in a statement from Justice Department headquarters.

Unlike state officials, Barr was unequivocal on who was to blame, claiming that the protests were “planned, organized and driven by anarchic and far-left extremist groups using antifa-like tactics,” referring to anti-fascist groups that have used violence.

Barr offered no evidence to support those assertions

Other than your lying eyes and everything that has gone on involving Antifa for years in the U.S.

, and his descriptions ran counter to Walz, who blamed the violence, at least in part, on far-right actors. …

“It’s ANTIFA and the Radical Left. Don’t lay the blame on others!” Trump tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Biden staff is paying to bail out the white supremacists and Russian agitators:

It’s a wilderness of mirrors.

    I see two possibilities:
    (1) All the arrested protesters were immigrants.
    (2) The previous night, Mayor Carter told his police commander: "Round up the usual suspects."

  2. The question of outside agitators is not inherently stupid: during BLM the police chief of Charlotte noted that almost none of the people arrested were from the city, from the state, or even from neighboring states. However, it’s meaningless once locals join in, as is clearly happening here, and Breitbart reported that most of the Minneapolis rioters we have data on were Minnesotan.
It’s also worth remembering that during BLM we learned that antifa thugs behave themselves (or even stay away) when police enforce a no mask policy. Masks => anonymity => crime.

  4. OTOH, this part is particularly risible:

U.S. officials dismissed those claims, noting that, by law, the NSA does not monitor domestic political activities.

Somewhere in the extremely fine print of the official NSA remit is the phrase “domestic political activities” defined as “things we don’t monitor.”

  7. If there’s one thing that’s been proven time and again, white supremacists are like UFOs to leftists. They see them all the time whether they’re there or not. On the Oberlin campus, at 3 am in Chicago, etc.

Ironically, innocent black victims of white violence and white supremacists have one critical thing in common in the fantasy land inhabited by white leftists: demand far outstrips supply.

The drug cartel thing is just weird though. I assume Gov. Walz was watching something on Netflix last night and had a brain fart. Are drug cartels plausibly invested in race rioting, or in anything other than, like, selling drugs for a profit?

  12. That ‘offered no evidence to support those assertions’ cant is something the MSM media has been doing to the Trump administration from the very beginning. Another recent example was when ABC News had a report on a Trump press conference where he was asked about how he came to the conclusion that a Chinese lab mishap was likely responsible for the coronavirus outbreak. Trump explained to the gathered journalists that the intelligence briefings he was receiving had convinced him of the likelihood of this scenario. “But the President offered no proof to back up his claim”, said the ABC News correspondent. No, you’re right, he didn’t- because his assessment of the situation was based on info he received from top secret intelligence sources that neither he nor any other President who has ever served would be allowed to talk about in a public press conference. This reporter’s surname was something like Dymhunt or Dymhurst… I remember the first three letters were definitely ‘Dym’. So, his new derisive nickname is pretty much a no-brainer I’d say.

FBI can find out anything about any Republican that Democrats don't like, and if they can't find out what they want, they'll make it up. but FBI can't figure out anything about who is organizing and running these obviously coordinated riots. or, they don't want to know, for (certain) reasons.

at this point it's safe to say that (they) control FBI as well. one of the last WASP bastions and hold outs. now ADL, SPLC, ACLU will tell FBI who they are looking for, and that's white supremacists, and who they are not looking for, and that's everybody else, especially (you know who).

The only video of George Floyd’s arrest has a gap between when he was ordered to sit down against the wall and when he was lying face down next to the car. What happened in between? We’ve seen so many doctored videos, I fear crucial information that could explain the police’s action is being edited out. There is more than meets the eye here. I’d like to hear testimony from all the officers.

As much as I got a kick out of watching protesters marching down Rodeo Drive chanting “Eat the rich!”, the looters and rioters have lost all my support. I want to see mass arrests by the police and the national guards tonight and tomorrow. Law and order must prevail. Enough is enough.

For people who live in blue areas and don’t want to/can’t get firearm permits and licences, there are very powerful airguns available that can be easily ordered in the mail.

These can take out deer and hogs and hopefully scare folks away from burning your place down during this coming hot summer, should it get to that.

Due to the large size of the tanks, they are not pistol-sized.

They are more powerful than many gunpowder powered firearms, and unregulated in the US, so ideal in some places, such as most of the blue areas currently experiencing riots.

Here are two examples, but there are many others. These are in .45 and .50 caliber.

If Biden and his election team are bailing the rioters out of jail, then it’s quite obvious the rioters weren’t White Supremacists. Biden would never bail them out at all. It’s plain the rioters are Biden supporters, leftists, and Antifa. I suspect Biden’s campaign coordinated with the rioters and helped direct them, and may have donated money to the scumbags behind them.

Get Biden on RICO and sedition charges. If he’s paying rioters to riot, we’ve got him nailed and jailed. Any link at all between Biden’s people coordinating this, and he’s screwed. 25. We could be witnessing the end of the NYPD’s dominance of the streets. It is unlikely that de Blasio or his heir apparent Corey Johnson will support the police much going forward. The police have been excessive at times, but the leftist protesters engage in chaotic sneak attacks and then scream like banshees when there is a response.

Still, the royal rumble melee style tactics to crowd control may ironically be slightly safer than more disciplined, militaristic approaches.

Note that the two guys in ball caps facing off with the cops could very well be undercovers. In my experiences around NYPD protests, any adult male that has been to the gym is likely NYPD.

I guess it’s time for the left to start rewriting riot history. That guy who murdered the 5 cops in Dallas several years back? White supremacist. The guys who dragged out Reginald Denny out of his head in LA and caved his head in? Nazis. Fun fact, almost all of the, what, 63 some deaths in that LA riot were actually committed by the Klan. The peaceful black protestors were begging them to stop, can’t we all just get along they cried!

It is impressive the sort of leaps the left is willing to make. Do they have the courage to stick with the claim. If they do a lot of people will come to believe it . . . It’s amazing, it’s clear no one was even seriously considering this assertion until early this morning. Then it just emerged “what if those hundreds of rioting blacks and dirty, ugly white 20 somethings were actually nazis . . . ”

Another one I love is the ‘the guy in the weird get up who smashed the Autozone windows is actually a cop’ claim. They put this picture of the cop next to an incredibly grainy screencap of the rioter where most of his face is covered. The idea that you can tell they are the same guy is hilarious, absurd. But to them this is obvious. The other thing that amazes me about this claim is the implication that only the very first person to start rioting bears any responsibility. The other people in the area just have no choice but to join in. I wonder if they’d apply this reasoning to lynchers from the bad old. Only the guy who grabbed the rope is responsible?

Another fascinating thing I have learned is that apparently a mob climbing on top of your car is not a threat. Silly me, I feel like this is a tacit threat to kill you. I feel like you have every moral right to run these people over. But this not a consensus position it seems. You’re just supposed to sit their and chill. Really take in the social justice. And what a good time to take it in, as it may be your very last chance to ever do so . . .

The only video of George Floyd's arrest has a gap between when he was ordered to sit down against the wall and when he was lying face down next to the car. What happened in between? We've seen so many doctored videos, I fear crucial information that could explain the police's action is being edited out. There is more than meets the eye here. I'd like to hear testimony from all the officers.

As much as I got a kick out of watching protesters marching down Rodeo Drive chanting "Eat the rich!", the looters and rioters have lost all my support. I want to see mass arrests by the police and the national guards tonight and tomorrow. Law and order must prevail. Enough is enough.

These rioters…I mean looters…I mean partygoers….I mean upstanding people engaged in vibrant performance street art…are merely Undocumented Minnesotans. They are more Minnesotan than actual Minnesotans, since like the original Minnesotans they are not from Minnesota, and thus more entitled to Minnesota than the Minesotans who were too lazy to be born elsewhere; and from whose energy and wealth of performance street art knowledge the future Minnesota will be built.

Weirdly Wilkey, in the current year what you wrote is actually the establishment’s wisdom.

Really what’s with this “outsider” b.s. from Democrat politicians.

  86. “It’s ANTIFA and the Radical Left. Don’t lay the blame on others!” Trump tweeted.

This is Trump’s typical weak sauce.

Yes, Republicans are supposed to just grab their ankles and there is gasps and outrage from the media if they bother to push back.

But saying ANTIFA and “radical left” is letting Democrats off the hook and providing the cover for Democrat politicians to do their little dance with Antifa.

    Trump needs to say it:
    “Democrat riots”
    and
“Democrats must call off their terrorist arm–these antifa street terror goon squads.”

    He should follow that with:

“Americans who value peace and prosperity and the rule of law, need to either get rid of Democrats running their cities and states or move to Republican run cities and states where the elected officials don’t provide cover for looters and these antifa thugs, but enforce the rule of law.”

One of the all-time great Brit expressions. I first heard it from a friend from Lancaster. I introduced to him to “shit eating grin,” which he particularly relished.

If there's one thing that's been proven time and again, white supremacists are like UFOs to leftists. They see them all the time whether they're there or not.

    Replies: @Buck Ransom

…white supremacists are like UFOs to leftists.

In a similar vein, here’s a story that is likely now in the works at WaPo and CNN:

Elvis Spotted Among White Supremacists at Scottsdale Apple Store
    Kristallnacht Reenactment.

  89. Here ya go… Rioters burn down a police precinct in Minneapolis, then a politician announced they’re making the ruins a healing safe space”… Comment is pulled from the American Conservative article. Minds blown yet?

“Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins announced yesterday that city officials will “create a healing space at the site of the [burnt-down] 3rd Precinct so that people can grieve, express their concerns, their anger, in a safe and humane way.”

The media, the political establishment of both parties, and even Steve will do whatever mental gymnastics responsible to pin the riots on anybody except blacks

    Replies: @Steve Sailer, @Reg Cæsar, @prime noticer

no, Steve will point out that africans like to loot and burn stuff, because that’s safe, but he’ll go a long way to avoid talking about how this is a jewish organized destruction of the United States.

FBI can find out anything about any Republican that Democrats don’t like, and if they can’t find out what they want, they’ll make it up. but FBI can’t figure out anything about who is organizing and running these obviously coordinated riots. or, they don’t want to know, for (certain) reasons.

at this point it’s safe to say that (they) control FBI as well. one of the last WASP bastions and hold outs. now ADL, SPLC, ACLU will tell FBI who they are looking for, and that’s white supremacists, and who they are not looking for, and that’s everybody else, especially (you know who).

This one is pretty funny. Totally brave national guard and police cautiously sweep through some quiet MN suburb and shoot paintball pellet at women on porch.

Someone told the cops / NG to sweep that street, so there you go. Notice the HMMV leading, they are probably establishing "presence" and maybe seeing if they can flush out a younger Antifa from Mom's basement.

But how stupid and narcissistic a Special Snoflake does one have to be to look at a squad in riot gear right in front of the house, vid them, hear "GET INSIDE!" more than once and...just stand there, recording. How dumb? Plus one of the porch girls is halfway fitted in Antifa gear, so this is basically possible rioters saying "Hey cops, you're not the boss of US!". They should be grateful all they got was a few paintballs, instead of a couple of anti-riot cops on the porch to make arrests.

Special snowflakes. Soooooo special that basic rules don't apply to them because special!.

    Lol.

Shaking my head at the sheer stupidness.

    ——

Unlike state officials, Barr was unequivocal on who was to blame, claiming that the protests were “planned, organized and driven by anarchic and far-left extremist groups using antifa-like tactics,” referring to anti-fascist groups that have used violence.
BARR OFFERED NO EVIDENCE to support those assertions

    LOL!! OMG!!!
