Charles Murray’s 2012 book Coming Apart documented that the white working class was doing poorly, but the real shocking news came in 2015 when the husband-wife team of Anne Case and Angus Deaton documented the increase in “deaths of despair” among non-college whites — suicides, cirrhosis, and overdoses from opioid painkillers and heroin.
This was particularly striking because, in contrast, black and Hispanic life expectancies were improving in 2000-2014.
In this decade, however, as I’ve been documenting for the last three years, we’ve seen a surge in “deaths of exuberance” — homicides, traffic fatalities, and overdoses on party drugs laced with fentanyl. These are hitting blacks and Hispanics especially hard during the depolicing of the “racial reckoning.”
But young people are killing themselves more too, especially blacks during the triumph of Black Lives Matter. Here are CDC WONDER statistics for the increase in the death rate from 2019 to 2021 for people 24 and under:

It happens. I used to know somebody who had a friend living with him who was slow and not all there. The friend had tried to commit suicide with a gun, but he didn’t stick it in his mouth and aim for the vital parts of the brain. Instead, he pointed the gun at the side of his head and only managed to give himself something like a crude lobotomy.
Sticking a gun in one's mouth and aiming for the vital parts of the brain is not advisable.

I wonder if the rise in black suicides was partially due to COVID. Blacks are famously gregarious; I imagine lockdowns weren’t a great experience for them.
My theory, which I have strong anecdotal reasons to believe, is that with the increase in homicides it becomes both politically expedient and economical to declare that random black guy with a bullet hole must have killed himself. One fewer unsolved murder to worry about.

Case and Deaton brought attention to the fact that deaths had been increasing among the white working class from 2000-20014. For the next three years, 2015-2017, overall life expectancy was actually decreasing in the U.S. It then decreased again in 2020-2021. Life expectancy decreasing five out of seven years is unprecedented in this country.
The corrupt ruling elites have failed when their subjects are becoming poorer and dying earlier. I don’t personally advocate violence against individuals, but we need to do everything short of that to bring those responsible for this to justice. People like Fauci, who contributed to the death of millions by funding a dangerous disease, need to be put on trial. If he is found guilty, which I think he should be, I don’t see how you can say anything other than the death penalty would be morally appropriate for someone contributing to so many deaths and so much suffering. Others like Biden, Harris, Pelosi etc. really belong in prison instead of in positions of power. I think this is unlikely but eventually things will become so bad our current elites will lose their grip on power. Future history books are likely to cast our current American governing elites as major villains and those who opposed them as heroic.

We’ve seen here that blacks have the highest self esteem. So, I would think that would tend to keep the black suicide rate low and level (or decreasing), but that’s not what the table shows. Maybe self esteem among young blacks is decreasing. (But the media certainly does not show that.)

IME white working class males have been watching a lot less TV, moderately improving their diets, and rapidly quitting cigarettes. Their wives and girlfriends are heavy facebook users and watch increasingly high levels of reality TV.
“Extreme obesity” went from 6 to 9% of Americans between 2010 and 2018.
Getting rid of the obesity is the key here. Loose the weight. Join a gym, work out, and get into shape. I don’t see having or not having kids is relevant here. In my experience, on average the women who don’t have kids tend to be in better shape than those that do.

Good advice, except I wonder if indeed it is “much easier now.” Because white deaths by exuberance have increased, my thought is that white men’s “not dead, but sub-death bad behavior” likewise occurs more frequently. I read a study a few years ago saying that during dating and courtship, creating three significant “negative impressions” means you get dumped. Contrariwise, the “yes, he/she is the one!” point arrives, on average, after 172 days of dating. I suspect that the above is now out of date.

It's the same here in my small town in a flyover state. I see so many young women not just kind of chunky but obese, massively bloated. And they usually have tats. The young men are somewhat less obese but no more attractive. Honestly, the two sexes don't look much different from one another. They're both pudgy, pasty and covered in ink.
It's not just unattractive, it's unhealthy. My obese neighbor has an obese daughter in her mid-20s. Her recent pregnancy was risky because her blood pressure is so high.
Recently I saw a video clip of some 80s show and the actors were all gorgeous. Trim, well-dressed with shiny, styled hair. The men all looked like men, the women all looked like women. It was shocking. They actually didn't all have beautiful bodies and faces. But they all looked groomed and healthy.

It may just be artifiact. But the actors, both men and women, in the “hood” movies on Tubi seem to have become more corpulent over the past 15 years. Obesity has become more rampant in the physical world I observe as well. It is at levels I did not think was possible even 10 year ago. Here’s the problem though: there’s no case to be made for whites “losing America” particularly from 2000-2010. Meanwhile minorities were undergoing real hardships that have ameliorated since 2010.
Pressed fake pain pills all contain fentanyl now. They even have little numbers imprinted on them to make them look authentic. I imagine many overdoses are from these. There are no safe street drugs anymore.

It’s the same here in my small town in a flyover state. I see so many young women not just kind of chunky but obese, massively bloated. And they usually have tats. The young men are somewhat less obese but no more attractive. Honestly, the two sexes don’t look much different from one another. They’re both pudgy, pasty and covered in ink.
It’s not just unattractive, it’s unhealthy. My obese neighbor has an obese daughter in her mid-20s. Her recent pregnancy was risky because her blood pressure is so high.
Recently I saw a video clip of some 80s show and the actors were all gorgeous. Trim, well-dressed with shiny, styled hair. The men all looked like men, the women all looked like women. It was shocking. They actually didn’t all have beautiful bodies and faces. But they all looked groomed and healthy.
We have fallen so far so fast.

If you think about it, the only thing a woman has to do is not get fat. It’d be nice if she was cultured, or had some point of beauty, but that’s not necessary. So allowing yourself to get fat is the signal that you have given up, the same way that having skills and hobbies and a tight athletic body is the signal that you are very far from giving up.
