From the Dallas Morning News:
Corbett Smith, Staff Writer
Dallas ISD [Independent School District] is researching the histories of Ben Franklin, Sam Houston, Thomas Jefferson and 17 other historical figures, looking into whether their connections with slavery or the Confederacy should prompt reconsideration of their names on DISD campuses.
Last Thursday, DISD administration recommended changing the names of four schools honoring Confederate generals: Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Albert Sidney Johnston and William L. Cabell elementary schools. During that discussion, it was mentioned that there is a much broader list of at least 21 names that bear further investigation, if trustees were compelled to do so.
“This was just a very quick review of looking at the biographies of the individuals,” DISD chief of school leadership Stephanie Elizalde told trustees on Sept. 14. “And if there was any association with Confederacy — not making a judgment for or against — just if we saw Confederacy named in it, we then highlighted it. We are now in the process of doing a second [look].”
The Dallas Morning News has obtained a copy of that list, which includes Texas revolutionaries and founders such as Sam Houston, James Bowie and William Travis, U.S. presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, and Dallas pioneers James Gaston and William Brown Miller.
Elizalde acknowledged to trustees the difficulty in drawing a line on where to proceed.
Wait until they find out that Franklin’s most epochal contribution to economic and biological theory, his 1754 essay Observations Concerning the Increase in Mankind, was an anti-immigration pamphlet.

Inshallah, I would be damn proud to be quarterback for the Ahmed Mohamed H.S. (formerly Douglas MacArthur H.S.) “Fightin’ Clockboys” in Irving, Texas.

Ben Franklin’s behavior was, frankly unsound, and he does not deserve a place among our SAFE schools. It’s not the womanizing, anti-immigration, founding-of-countries stuff that’s the worry. It’s the going out to fly a kite in a thunderstorm episode. This is the current era – we shelter in place, and we, never, never play with electricity, kids, you might learn something. 110 V A/C has tought me a lesson about 4 times, and I have a pair of melted pliers to prove it.
Inshallah, I would be damn proud to be quarterback for the Ahmed Mohamed H.S. (formerly Douglas MacArthur H.S.) “Fightin’ Clockboys” in Irving, Texas.
Maybe we should name all the schools ‘Mohamed” to placate the muslims into not acid attacking us.
Grassy Knoll High School. Too soon?
I hope they go for a clean sweep – it will help to focus the minds of the oppressed, disfranchised, and those viewed with contempt and disgust.
There are many Texans that appreciate, value, and honor their state’s and their ancestor’s courageous heritage. The halfwits that will rename those schools will have earned the enmity they deserve.
Elizalde. Good AMERICAN name.
Get used to this, white people. When you give your country to foreigners, does it surprise you when they tear down your statues and rename everything?
Enjoy your (lack of a) future.
Hahaaa!
All pictures need to be expunged from public places to make the schools Sharia compliant.
Presumably, Dallas ISD officials have to research the histories of these obscure historical figures because they know nothing about them. I mean – honestly – can you really expect a public school superintendent or board member to know anything about Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin or Sam Houston? They’re educators, not historians.
The extent of their research will begin and end with Wiki. How can the people that run a school district in Texas not know who is Sam Houston?
More than you might think.
Given that Kennedy – were he alive today – would probably be deemed a white supremacist, and that Oswald was a supporter of the great revolutionary and humanitarian Fidel Castro (that’s what Hollywood people are always telling me anyway), I don’t see why Dallas shouldn’t have at least a Lee Harvey Oswald Middle School. It could be a feeder for William Ayers High.
I suggest honoring the borinqueños who fired at Truman in 1950. We're still paying for their failure.
Over under on how long until the fourth largest city in the country is Obama, TX?
Dallas could also have a Zapruder Film School and a Rubenstein Dance Academy.
Lee Harvey Oswald never owned any slaves…..
Stonewall Jackson is one of those schools that has moms with MBA’s running things. The place is an outlier in Dallas test scores. It will be interesting to see what sort of crappy name they come up with for that school. I’m going to guess, since is it a school for the deaf too, that it will be called Helen Keller Elementary.
TJ is a high school that no white parent would send their kid to if it was at all possible to avoid.
Franklin is a middle school in one of that last high school clusters (Hillcrest) that whites use.
Mayor Rawlings’ son went to Jesuit. (As did my son, but I’m not trying to force your child into a shitty environment.) His daughter went to Episcopal. This behavior is all too typical of politicians.
I have to confess to attending an event early on that was Rawlings for Mayor. Several of my friends used to work with him advertising. It was naive of me to think he would be some sort of centrist Republican.
It is naive to believe any elected official of any political party would be anything other than explicitly in favor of everything non-White, non-Christian, and non-historical American. Even Trump, with his mushy civic-nationalism, appears convinced the Dacaca Mestizos are shiny-new All American boys and girls. He still pictures Annette Funicello when everyone else sees Miley Cyrus.

FWIW, which probably isn’t much, Franklin was, at least in later life, a powerful critic of slavery.

What will BLM list first on their Dallas CV…killing four cops or getting 20 schools renamed? How does the Soros math work out?
So I guess Washingtons DC and state are next. We know he owned slaves, though I’m puzzled how Franklin showed up. Did he ever own slaves?
George Washington's profile is on every state highway sign. It must be so triggering to see thousands of state-provided images of a man who owned black bodies throughout the state. "Emotional violence," I think it is.

It was JFK who was hired by the ADL to write “A Nation of Immigrants”. He was an open and shut left-liberal, just as almost everyone in his family was.
Of course that would be fine. It would be racist and insensitive not to include those living abroad. Afterall, Che Guevara was just pursuing the American Dream.
Mr.Anon, Holy Mother of God used to be the name of a local Catholic HS, now it’s what I exclaim every time Steve prints an article like this one.
Hmm. How ’bout “Kill All de Wht Ppl”?? Does that work for you? Just thinking out loud here, mind you. Not judging or anything.
I could see them naming one after James Byrd.

Apparently this bears repeating, but it was the sense of ‘fair play’ which led the Anglo-Americans in this country to permit a certain “irate, tireless minority” to first, gain a firm foothold and then, a leg hold and through what Steve has termed “ethnic nepotism” a chokehold upon the upper reaches of finance, industry, and most particularly the mass media which facilitates all else.
The country wasn’t given away–it was hijacked–and it was indeed the moral goodness of its founding stock and their descendents which proved their disadvantage when it came to invaders without scruples, who were playing for keeps.
This is what history would one day show about what happened to America–except for that little nuisance fact, that history is written by the victors.
No, your statement bears refutation. Our nation was founded by colonists sent forth by a myriad of European nations, each of whom had certain levels of distrust against one another. The only "fair play" came in the form of their governments turning on the population spicket to alleviate political, economic, and social tension, as well as to siphon raw materials from virgin lands by way of greasing the skids with African slaves, with general disregard to native peoples. The Thirteen Colonies thrived, created a unique national identity as well as regional identities, and eventually broke away from the mother country.
After 1790, immigrants came to our land, as designated by Congressional rule, or lack of enforcement thereof. The "irate, tireless minorities" at various points in our history consisted of the Irish/Germans, then the Italians/Poles/Russians, then the Japanese/Chinese, then the Mexicans, then the Vietnamese, all of whom were deemed unassimilable and undesirable by nativists and, ironically, the groups who previously had been labeled as unassimilable and undesirable.
Interesting how these groups in various capacities gained this "chokehold upon the upper reaches of finance, industry, and most particularly the mass media".
"The country wasn’t given away–it was hijacked–and it was indeed the moral goodness of its founding stock and their descendents which proved their disadvantage when it came to invaders without scruples, who were playing for keeps."
Wow, just wow. You done Archie Bunker proud with your revisionist history lesson.
I love me some Jim Bowie, but I fear that once the educators start looking into his past he’s going to be persona non grata. He and his brother Rezin built a fortune smuggling slaves into the US more than a decade after the 1808 law was passed barring their further importation. They purchased falsified titles and sold them on the slave market.
The “Lee” part is problematic.
I suggest honoring the borinqueños who fired at Truman in 1950. We’re still paying for their failure.

Well, we all know that Modern History – the history that counts – began in 1965 with the revolution that turned white folks out and brought in the multi-national, multi-ethnic, multi-Black, hordes to power – the Inglorious Revolution of 1965.
In 2016, Louisiana State Rep. Barbara Norton (D) argued that black school children should not be required to recite words that were written during a time in history when slavery was prevalent.
“In 1776, Dr. King was not even born. African-Americans were in slavery, so since they were in slavery, the Declaration of Independence say we are ‘all created equal,’ we were not created equal because in 1776, July the 4th, I nor you nor any of us were born, nor was Dr. King born, so we were in slavery, and to have our children repeat again and again documents that were not even validated, I don’t think that that’s fair.”
Make a snarkfest of it but it’s not stopping when you have the establishment and both parties tacitly supporting it. Eventually it will go nationwide – Texas is just a test case. If they can pull if off there, they can pull it off anywhere.
Rebranding of high schools, making statues of undesirable vanish in the night is going to be part of our landscape from now on.
What I’m waiting for is them going after on-line sources and going old school commie on them. Redact, retconn dead white male histories and in some cases simply erase it. I can see public schools recommending on certain texts for history class reports, etc. School libraries will probably start removing certain books not approved of by the school authorities.
Common Core will do the rest, wrecking those young minds, rendering them into docile cube cattle.
Conservative whites , will have to make a decision sometime in the near future. Either continue to let these people stomp our life, culture and history into oblivion or we stop it by stopping them. Because we can’t appeal to authorities because the people doing this to us now are the authorities.
Man I though we had a few more decades to go for Franklin to become viewed as an evil white man. The rate of outrage is getting logarithmic. Its like we’re in the midst of a social punctuated equilibrium or something. From Obama saying he’s against gay marriage to it becoming a sacrosanct American value. From the Confederate flag being an innocuous historical item sold at museum gift stores to the very Founders of our country getting viewed as possibly offensive. All in the span of a decade. In some cases less.
Excellent!
If you have to rename a school and want to go with something that represents excellence and progress, might I uh humbly recommend Yan Shen HS or the likes. There’s no taint of slavery or racism in my background, plus I embody just the kind of Confucian pragmatism that this country sorely needs.
Together we’ll dismantle the left wing lunacy that has infected the heart and soul of this great country. We’ll replace safe spaces, trigger warnings, and check your privilege with eating bitterness and cognitive elitism and “Hey hey hey. This is library.”
We’ll fight to once again restore sanity where madness once reigned. Remember, when you name a high school after Yan Shen, anything and everything is possible!
So this could be bad advice.Replies: @Achmed E. Newman

Dallas County has the poorest residents…According to the five-year data (from 2008 to 2012), about 23 percent of Dallas County residents were foreign-born.
Dallas (and Texas) exists because of, and is sustained by, the wealth creation activity of Whites — while some (misguided, political/venal) Whites may be involved in this kind of push, it’s largely driven by the acquisition of political power by non-whites, and as such is a kind of crass usurpation: the ultimate consequence of a sort of slow ‘Camp of the Saints’-like demographic conquest — ‘Democracy is the noose that will be used to hang the white man’.

The dispossession of the founding stock of the United States continues. But as one of the commentators above noted, what else do you expect when you import large numbers of foreigners who may be frankly hostile to what the founding stock did?
Why would a Mexican whose ancestor fought in the army of Santa Anna honor the defenders of the Alamo?
Eventually, through the sheer persistence of “social justice” totalitarianism, no doubt with the assistance of Google and Facebook, we will all accept that the United States has no legitimate history, no history deserving of reference or acknowledgment, before the birth of Martin Luther King Jr.

This country is doomed. You can see from how Trump barely squeaked into office, the general contempt he has been treated with by the media, the absolute recalcitrance of both parties to help implement any meaningful part of his anti-globalist agenda, his low approval ratings, his upcoming cave in on amnesty, and the ongoing demographic transformation that Trump represents the last gasp of legacy Americans standing up for the country they grew up in, not the first battle in a long war.

I fear you are correct. I lost all hope with the re-election of Obama. How a majority of people could put him back in office when given the alternative of a highly-intelligent, highly moral, political moderate such as Romney (okay, not a conservative icon, but far and away superior to Obama) told me everything I needed to know about the country. That, and the acquittal of OJ, which made me give up on the majority of blacks ever becoming decent citizens. As a last gasp, rather than nominate another Boy Scout and having him turned into an SOB by the media, we elected a genuine SOB. But even that appears to have been to no avail.
I don’t remember ever having the opportunity to vote on this third-world invasion of our country, nor even having a discussion about it. This country has become like a bad marriage — I don’t even want to talk about our situation any more or even try to work something out with the other side. I just want a divorce. Just give us our statues and let us go.
I don’t know whether I’ll be around to see 2037, but regardless, I plan to live the remainder of my life in a rural area near a small town, where I have a well, plenty of fresh water, and neighbors who think like I do. And I absolutely refuse to have any political discussion of any type with anyone on the political Left. I won’t give them the satisfaction of engaging me, even for a minute.
Thus ends liberalism. The high-minded ideals of the liberal society are eventually weaponized by hostile, illiberal entryists and deployed against it.

You do have to wonder how they will be teaching the history of Texas and the Alamo soon. You have to assume they will be teaching that white settlers stole it, no not the Spanish white settlers but the later ones, the bad American ones, the Sam Houston ones, and anyway it belonged to the Aztecs, who were never anywhere near it and if not the Aztecs, then the tribes of northern Mexico, who were never anywhere near it either. But they will come up with something. The same will occur in France with Charles Martel. The “new French” Muslims will not look at Martel as a hero for saving France from the Muslims.

I still have absolutely no idea, no plausible or even potential theory, that explains why black people in the current era believe they have any connection to black people during slavery. They have no cultural memories passed down to them about being slaves, no heritage, no shared traditions about it. Perhaps there are a few communities down in the South where this does happen, but they would be a far cry from the communities that do most of the complaining about it.
This is fairly disturbing for me to ponder, speaking honestly. A minority group that has lost any sense of cultural heritage or cohesiveness in addition to suffering low levels of socioeconomic standing in the face of declining persecution? Quite frankly, that’s unheard of. How does this happen? Should there have been slow integration rather than rapid desegregation back in the 50’s-60’s? This seriously makes me question if there’s a “cultural IQ” gap among black people, counter-intuitive as that may sound. Slavery—as horrible as it was—virtually forms the basis of black culture, the “shared experience” (or memory thereof) that glues them together as a social group. Despite this, I’ve never met a black person who could tell me that heritage has informed their identity or worldview or even if it’s affected them personally and directly in any manner.
At any rate, it serves its purpose by being an useful propaganda tool. It is, probably, the only uniting factor of African Americans.
I do agree they don't have much of a culture though which makes them susceptible to Hollywood, Madison Ave and SJWism.

With the current Confederate leprosy scare, you’d think there would be meaningful debate among historians about the issue, but if you take the American Hysterical Association as an indication, historians seem generally to be on board with removing the statues. Most seem to be “critical theorists” who use history primarily as a vehicle for proselytizing their world view. Two of their members, along with leftist revisionist Eric Foner, advocated in the Times for a Reconstruction Memorial.

Some in the AHA even hint at removing the name of historian William Archibald Dunning from one of their awards because of his critical look at Reconstruction.

So, his involvement with slavery was pretty marginal. And, towards the end of his life, he became an abolitionist:http://www.pbs.org/benfranklin/l3_citizen_abolitionist.htmlReplies: @415 reasons, @Diversity Heretic, @Rosamond Vincy
Alas, that later-in-life stuff won’t protect his name from the dreaded “Refs unpersons” label. Margaret Mitchell was secretly donating money to a black medical school–a remarkably practical form of assistance, since white doctors were known to use black patients as unwitting guinea pigs (Tuskegee experiment, Henrietta Lacks) or turn them away altogether (Bessie Smith). This fact has not saved Gone With the Wind from condemnation.

This is fairly disturbing for me to ponder, speaking honestly. A minority group that has lost any sense of cultural heritage or cohesiveness in addition to suffering low levels of socioeconomic standing in the face of declining persecution? Quite frankly, that's unheard of. How does this happen? Should there have been slow integration rather than rapid desegregation back in the 50's-60's? This seriously makes me question if there's a "cultural IQ" gap among black people, counter-intuitive as that may sound. Slavery—as horrible as it was—virtually forms the basis of black culture, the "shared experience" (or memory thereof) that glues them together as a social group. Despite this, I've never met a black person who could tell me that heritage has informed their identity or worldview or even if it's affected them personally and directly in any manner.Replies: @Anonymous, @Ed
I’m not sure I’d agree that black Americans have no cultural linkage to slavery. I tend to think most of their issues stem from a slave mentality. Most black Americans are obsessed with white opinion and being included in “white spaces”.
I do agree they don’t have much of a culture though which makes them susceptible to Hollywood, Madison Ave and SJWism.
Even more to the point, Achmed, electricity’s racist.
It constantly kills Black and Brown Bodies, while white devils like Franklin, Edison, Tesla, etc., mess with it and don’t die!
Just LOOK at the racism on display here!

Also, most professional electricians in the US are white guys.
Also, the reason it doesn’t kill white guys is they have some sort of witchcraft. Time to start eating their organs to get some of it.
I probably shouldn’t joke about this. I hate giving T. Genius Coates Samizdat Right jokes that he takes seriously and translates into long screeds for the slightly more dim-witted.
“Apparently this bears repeating, but it was the sense of ‘fair play’ which led the Anglo-Americans…”
No, your statement bears refutation. Our nation was founded by colonists sent forth by a myriad of European nations, each of whom had certain levels of distrust against one another. The only “fair play” came in the form of their governments turning on the population spicket to alleviate political, economic, and social tension, as well as to siphon raw materials from virgin lands by way of greasing the skids with African slaves, with general disregard to native peoples. The Thirteen Colonies thrived, created a unique national identity as well as regional identities, and eventually broke away from the mother country.
After 1790, immigrants came to our land, as designated by Congressional rule, or lack of enforcement thereof. The “irate, tireless minorities” at various points in our history consisted of the Irish/Germans, then the Italians/Poles/Russians, then the Japanese/Chinese, then the Mexicans, then the Vietnamese, all of whom were deemed unassimilable and undesirable by nativists and, ironically, the groups who previously had been labeled as unassimilable and undesirable.
Interesting how these groups in various capacities gained this “chokehold upon the upper reaches of finance, industry, and most particularly the mass media”.
“The country wasn’t given away–it was hijacked–and it was indeed the moral goodness of its founding stock and their descendents which proved their disadvantage when it came to invaders without scruples, who were playing for keeps.”
Wow, just wow. You done Archie Bunker proud with your revisionist history lesson.
“Why would a Mexican whose ancestor fought in the army of Santa Anna honor the defenders of the Alamo?”

And ignorant of physics.
21st century Communists seem to have forgotten their forefathers’ praxis, which was so effective in deftly obliterating tens of millions in the 20th century:
A headshot is more effective from the back, since occipital skull density is quite robust…and might not result in death anyway (the bullet trajectory could pass right through the brain, as arrayed, through the upper part of the parietal).

Also with this shot so aligned, the bone fragments that rebound from the occipital plate would very likely blind the guy on the left.
So really, this is just racialist snuff porn by Michael D’Antuono and those who love his stuff.
They just love Love LOVE meditating on tormented Black Bodies. One might even suspect, and suggest, that they killed and resurrected Jesus out of their lust for (and profiting from) depicting black victimization.

Rebranding of high schools, making statues of undesirable vanish in the night is going to be part of our landscape from now on.
What I'm waiting for is them going after on-line sources and going old school commie on them.
Because we can't appeal to authorities because the people doing this to us now are the authorities.Replies: @anonymous, @Ivy
John Gatto had a lot to say about education. Take a look at his writings for more detail.
Just une numbers, FFS. It’s totally modern, and also non-threatening.
“Welcome to School 17. You will like it here.”
(Pick up that can! No littering.)
But didn’t Confucius say “Those who rename schools – show themselves as fools, and should be organ-harvested pretty much immediately?”
So this could be bad advice.
Confucius was not the high-brow literary figure that history makes him out to be, or that is my take per my, albeit small, sample of his writings:
Confucius say:
Woman laid in tomb may become mummy.
Man who fall in vat of molten glass make spectacle of self.
Man who run in front of car get tired. Man who run behind car get exhausted.
Even the greatest of whales is helpless in middle of desert.
Grease monkey who go to bed without bathing wake up oily in the morning.
Know what I mean,
VernEl Dato?"There are many Conficius on internet - not all so wise, but many so funny, and all will be Confucing to man who has sees Google as his Master."

Haha, El Dato, funny stuff, but you are probably quoting the wrong Confucius. Even very erudite bloggers have made this same mistake.

Because Americans were invited to live in the region in the first place. As early as the 1790's, Spain enabled Americans to settle in Louisiana Territory and in Texas. The foreigners were to be Catholic, industrious, and willing to become Spanish citizens in return for generous land grants. Over time, some of the people living there wanted to change the terms of the agreement, with the United States sticking its nose in the situation to free "Anglos from Mexican tyranny". And, [poof], a war was started.

“You are a conformist and a dullard. I don’t take reading suggestions from the likes of you.”

“I embody just the kind of Confucian pragmatism that this country sorely needs.”
Confucius was, in the whole history of the world, by far the least interesting moral thinker to achieve such high status.
One struggles in vain through his writings in search of anything other than smug self-satisfaction & complacency.
