So I reached out to my daughter’s teacher to find out what exactly was being taught. It was pretty much like she said: that all white people were part of this system of white supremacy, and that all white people, because of the color of their skin, had privilege. I said, “But that’s not true.” And the teacher said, “Well, what do you mean?”
I have traveled a lot. My father was a university professor and taught in both the United States and Paris, France. And when I visited, I saw white people in public housing. I’ve been to Belgium and Switzerland and seen very poor white people. I’ve visited other parts of Europe. I lived in Canada for 10 years. There are poor white people in Canada as well. I’m not saying systemic racism doesn’t exist, but class exists too, and I don’t believe that all white people have privilege. That white person who’s living in the Appalachian Mountains, who has no means or prospect of changing their situation—do they, too, have privilege? Compared to me and my kids?
I’ve spent a lot of time in Central Africa because my dad is from the Congo. And some of the propaganda that’s being spread right now here in Evanston is similar to some of the divisiveness that took place in Rwanda before the massacre. I’m not saying that is what’s going to happen here, but when you start labeling people in a negative manner based on their race or ethnic group, this leads to division and destruction, not finding common ground and positive solutions.
Is it racist to say that it is silly to worry about all the hate whitey rhetoric in the media these days because African-Americans aren’t capable of organizing something really bad?

At first before I read the article I thought this was gonna be a report on black enmity towards the great outdoors. That the cutting down of actual trees would be a good way of reaching equity w/whitey because they love their nature so much. (Soon, very soon.)

Traditionally blacks have not done the organizing. Starting with the NAACP, few black advocacy organizations have had more than a token few blacks involved until well into their history. Projects like Brown v. Board of Education were relatively black-free in their planning, financing, and execution.
To what extent is BLM a black organization? It could be that social media and crowd funding has allowed blacks to bypass their usual tribal allies to a certain extent in collecting money. But they would still need to plan and execute elaborate legal, lobbying, legislative, even terroristic activities with a long term future payoff. Good luck with that. I somehow think the money raised will … kind of … float off into the ether … never to be heard of … until years later when mutterings emerge from the FBI and the IRS and various prosecutors and grand juries.

I know there is a move on the left and the right that sees racial conflict as a ruling class distraction tactic away from class conflict and that if poor whites and poor blacks could find common cause they can form a unified front against the elites.
But blacks are not a social class in the modern European-derived sense; blacks are at best just a half-millennia from the stone-age – who knows, without interaction with the European colonizers, Sub-Saharan Africans still might not have the wheel or the two-story building and certainly not parliamentary government – after colonialism they’ve tried every modern form of government from a constitutional republic to a Marxist dictatorship to a totalitarian theocracy and they always fail, because they do not in fact belong to the modern world. They ape the language of class but in the end their skin is their uniform and they manipulate modern institutions to extract resources for their tribe.
This African woman, in spite of her insights into the misdirection provided by the race conflict in Western countries, can take her black ass back to Africa, and take ALL her American co-blacks with her – we don’t need them here for ANYTHING, they are just an expensive nuisance to us, and work themselves through the civilizational phases that bring a people to modernity (or not, modernity has plenty of problems) – there is no common cause between poor white moderns and poor black savages.

For “living document” types, no amendment can be unconstititional; for Americans, the Constitution has a wider spirit which must be adhered to, summarized as limitation within defined boundaries and exclusion of undefined prerogatives. Prohibition is medicine or diet. Like education and gun control, the government doesn’t have any business broaching the subject.

Hey, let’s at least give the Atlantic credit for publishing a paragraph or two that leans against the strong wind of its ideology. Somewhat on-topic: Nicholas Kristof in NYT today has op-ed piece about gun violence. Because I’ve become a knee-jerk Unz reader, I searched for “Black” and “white”. I am sorry to report to all Steve’s die-hard fans, but Kristof was exactly true to expectations: no hits on “Black” but a heartfelt examination of “white nationalism”. Life loses its salt when things get this predictable.

And then after an hour, a minute… When Coates came along, the Atlantic still published intelligent articles predominantly. Coates was the beginning of the truly idiotic pieces that have now overrun the Atlantic. I think it was the end of commenting that helped make possible that descent into idiocy.

I think you are totally correct that the only way a major conflict is avoided is for non-whites to call out the dangerous rhetoric and (white) instigators.
Not sure I agree that the Badwhites are “toast”, at least ultimately in the end. Once the Goodwhites realize that the blacks aren’t being discriminatory in choosing their white targets, they’ll quickly ally with the “racists” who have guns and ammo.

How much of this is being driven by the electorate in a school board that is either childless or do not have children in the school system but often work for the school system or local government? With a very low fertility rate the school becomes a jobs program. Serious question: We’ve already amended other parts of the original text, most prominently the legislative selection of senators. Why would equal state representation in the senate be exempt? It would be self-detrimental for smaller states to vote for such an amendment, but it doesn’t mean it would automatically be unconstitutional.
Off the top of my head the other two examples of such formally amended changes the original text are selection of the Vice President, Inauguration Day, and the first date of the congressional session.
(all of the other amendments either bring up brand new ideas or clarify ambiguous parts, but just a couple actually CHANGE the original text)

Just because I’m writing anyway, let me point this one site to anyone interested. The Constitution is here, but also interpretation pages for the Sections/Articles and all the Amendments. First know that the Constitution Center’s front page seems to have become just as woke and shit as anyone, so just go to this page directly.
These interpretations pages sometimes have one PC author and one non-PC author, like a good cop/bad cop thing. There are still a lot of interesting facts in there, explaining the history and the politics behind each Amendment.

The greatest push back against anti-white racism and anti-white conspiracy theories (“systemic racism”) is going to come from African Immigrants, because post-colonial Africa is where anti-white racism came to power first. The results, whether you look at the Zimbabwe economic miracle, the Rwandan genocide, or South Africa’s decision to let millions of HIV+ people die preventable deaths because hate-whitey, is a disaster.
In the same way, the greatest promoters of anti-white bilge are mostly middle age, white librarians living in all white communities. They believe these slogans and ideas have no connection to reality, and they expect their politicians to do nothing to implement them the same way they support single-payor health care and free college but never expect their politicians to do anything to enact them. The thing is, they might be right, its hard to see Biden and Harris raising up the machete in the name of social justice. It may all be hypocritical virtue signaling to try to shore up a mostly-white oligarchy that doesn’t want to acknowledge or deal with class, and simply wants to divide people.
Traditionally you had international socialism based on international solidarity of workers based on their common identity as workers and you had national socialism based on the solidarity of people based on their national/ethnic/racial identities. National socialism in its myriad manifestations has always been theatrical and performative, and I suspect that the immigrants are correct, the passions that racial hatred and racial conspiracy theories (central to all variants of national socialism) raise up often take a life of their own, beyond the control of “nice” white women with “good” intentions.
That’s worst case. What’s going to happen…ppl will get back to some sensible thinking re race and Ron DeSantis will be a palatable Trump but more competent. The country will recover and we’ll have another 30 years as a nation before it just sort of ends

Most urban blue state Whites are already disarmed anyway. Often self-disarmed. What we usually see, as in Minneapolis, is that blacks are too disorganized and stupid to accomplish much more than burning down their own neighborhoods.

The current woke environment is unbelievably aggravating and there is going to be a lot of cultural damage as a result. However, I think in the long run the effect is going to be a permanent shift from our politics often revolving around the concerns of 13% of the population to one in which they are dead last.
The political and cultural power of blacks is entirely a product of their alliance with middle upper class whites and something of a relic of the time when Latinos and Asians were essentially an afterthought due to their relatively small share of the population. This is changing, though – the rising Latino and Asian populations just do not care about blacks they way whites do, and the decline of the white population over time means they percentage of the population willing to put black concerns front and center is getting smaller. Couple that with a lack of racial guilt, I don’t think it will be too long before it will be acceptable to openly question why policy in crime, education, etc., should be oriented around going easy on blacks when it comes at everyone else’s expense.
Now, the segment of whites who are driving our woke moment definitely punch above their weight culturally and economically and will drag things out, but the consequences of the politics they have been pushing will also lead to an increasing share of this segment quietly supporting a return to more sane policies especially if they can cover this as allyship with Latinos or Asians.
Ratifications by Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Kentucky were especially ironic, as well as any pointless ratifications after the 3/4 mark was reached. (Some overlap between those two categories, maybe?)

Interesting…I’ve never come cross that claim before. DANVILLE — Video released by a local civil rights attorney shows a Contra Costa Sheriff’s deputy shooting and killing a homeless man from a distance of a few feet, less than 2½ years after the same deputy shot and killed another man in Danville.
The video — shot by an eyewitness to the March 11 incident from about a half-block away — shows Deputy Andrew Hall fatally shooting 32-year-old Tyrell Wilson. The camera briefly moves behind a car door moments before the fatal shot is fired, but video shows Wilson taking a step back from Hall and the deputy stepping toward him shortly before the shot.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release following the shooting that Wilson pulled out a folding knife when confronted by the deputy, who suspected Wilson of throwing rocks at cars. Well-known Bay Area civil attorney John Burris, who is representing Wilson’s family, called it a “cold murder.”
“Wilson never had a chance,” Burris said in a news release, adding that he sent a letter to Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton asking Hall to be charged criminally. Burris said 25 minutes went by before anyone attempted to render medical aid to the wounded Wilson.
Burris also contested the allegation that Wilson was throwing rocks at cars, saying Wilson was walking to the homeless encampment where he was known to stay.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. An attorney with the law firm that represents Hall told a reporter to call back during normal business hours.
For Hall, the fatal shooting was the second time he’s gunned down a man in Danville under controversial circumstances. In November 2018, Hall shot and killed 33-year-old Laudemer Arboleda during a daytime slow-speed police chase in Danville.
In that incident, video shows Hall stopping his car, exiting, and running around the other side to come face-to-face with a sedan driven by Arboleda. Hall then backpedals, firing his pistol as he does so, then continues to shoot as the car travels past him. He later testified at an inquest hearing he was afraid Arboleda would run him over. An internal probe by the sheriff’s office cleared Hall, but the District Attorney is still investigating the matter.
Hall was placed on paid leave after shooting Wilson, a sheriff’s spokesman said at the time.
Burris is representing Arboleda’s family in an active federal suit and says he plans to sue on behalf of Wilson’s family. He is planning a Tuesday news conference to announce the Wilson suit.
“That shooting was so outrageous that we wrote a letter to the Contra Costa District Attorney asking them to criminally prosecuted Hall,” Burris said in the news release. “They didn’t and now he has killed another innocent man. Enough is enough. This officer is a menace.”

Welp, I guess that answers my question. I forgot two elementary things. First, as several pointed out, The Atlantic got rid of their comments section a few years ago, because people with a personally and socially comfortable but logically untenable world view can’t bear to have it challenged. Second, this noticing of White genocide in the Atlantic is, of course, not a huge deal because those who do not want to see it simply will refuse to see it.

I was born and raised in a very large city in third-world Brazil, so I can’t speak for cities in the United States, but I no longer see moving out as a “sacrifice” in even the most figurative sense. First, you are either able to move out of the city (you have the money to do so) or you aren’t because you need to work 9-to-5 in some office or restaurant there. It’s not quite a choice, one’s limited to what one can do.
Second, life is better elsewhere. I think the pandemic makes Sailer’s argument that elites want blacks to move out of “prime real estate” in the inner city (if I understood it correctly) rather obsolete. I’m not from the elite, so I don’t know how they really think, but will they really want to pack themselves tight in a gentrified former ghetto, even without blacks or latinos around, and be subject to pandemics possibly worse than this one?
