From CNN:

Concerns mount that US withdrawal from Afghanistan could risk progress on women’s rights

By Jennifer Hansler, CNN

Updated 1:53 PM ET, Sat April 10, 2021

(CNN) Concerns are mounting from bipartisan US lawmakers and Afghan women’s rights activists that the hard-won gains for women and civil society in Afghanistan could be lost if the United States makes a precipitous withdrawal from the country.

President Joe Biden has suggested it will be difficult to meet the May 1 deadline for US troops to leave the country as dictated in the deal the Trump administration signed with the Taliban. However, there are fears that if the US withdraws troops before the conditions on the ground are right — regardless of the date on the calendar

It might take until August or even December of this year before women could achieve full equality in Pashtun culture, so we can’t be hasty.

— there will be a sharp and possibly catastrophic backslide.

Ya think?

But, anyway, women’s rights are so 2012…

Instead of keeping the war in Afghanistan going for another score years in the name of feminism, the US should instead bomb all of Central Asia flat in the name of fighting transphobia.

Update: iSteve commenter Redneck Farmer points out the flaw in my grand strategy: Iran is a world leader in castrating transitioning effeminate boys.

Journo-lists have been cycling through the ‘Stan for 20 years or so. I wonder how many of them somehow wound up, totally by accident, in the Bacha Bazi zone of the country? I wonder how many of them really don’t want the Students coming back into power again, because they ended boy-rape last time and would likely end it this time?

Bluntly, how many American journo-lists are boy-buggering on the down low?

  4. Yeah, yeah. They always fall back on this women’s rights thing in Afghanistan when all else fails. That was one of the original “reasons” Afghanistan was invaded.

And if the women’s rights thing does not succeed, then it is going to be babies being thrown out of their cribs or some gruesome, but picturesque tribal ritual that is not acceptable to the civilized world.

Okay we get it. The primitive tribespeople of Afghanistan need to be ruled by somebody else, whether it be the Russians or the West, because they envy us our freedoms/need adult supervision.

It’s a rare occasion that the prestige press actually tells the truth about our mideast meddling. Usually the official explanation is some nonsense about terrorism or national security, and the FBI-seeded conspiracy theory is that it’s all the fault of Israel and the Mossad.

Those of us in the know, know that it’s always been about proselytizing progressivism in those few countries still resisting it, especially the Islamic world – or, to use the popular reactionary refrain, so that Afghani girls are taught in the classroom how to put a condom on a banana. The establishment isn’t normally supposed to tell us that orthodox progressivism AKA “women’s rights” is actually at odds with Islamic society.

This must mean that the conventional narratives have been collapsing, and all that’s left for them is to admit the truth but try to spin it as a good thing.

  18. US foreign policy is driven by 2 groups.

    1. Israeli/Neoconservative Lobby

    2. Military-Industrial Complex

They control the politicians through a combination of bribery and Epstein-style sexual blackmail.

    So the wars never end.

If you want a REALISTIC glimpse into the type of conversations that are being held in elite circles of power&influence, watch this 4-minute clip from the film “JFK.”

Trust me. In our power centers, no one is talking about feminism, trans, gay rights, or whatever. The conversations are similar to the clip above.

    That’s how the world works.

For some ODD reason, no one talks about the 37 million refugees.

Or the millions of widows and orphans. When was the last time anyone told George W. Bush to ‘check’ his white privilege?

Did Chris Kyle have White privilege when he achieved 255 ‘confirmed kills’ in Iraq? How did that movie even get made in ‘liberal’ Hollywood?

    Tldr Summary:

-US foreign policy is driven by the Jewish Lobby and Military-Industrial Complex.
-It’ll be a cold day in hell before anyone in power thinks about human rights, women’s empowerment, or anything related to social justice.
    -Jews run Hollywood.
-Chris Kyle and Bush are textbook examples of sociopathy (and racism).
-Perhaps this statement about ‘women’s rights’ is a diversion meant to deflect responsibility away from our ruling class; and towards the SJW kids. Which is an interesting tactic.

You know how sometimes a group does x not because it is a good idea, but because it differentiates them from some other group. Sometimes doing x will become part of the groups self-identity, one of the reasons they think their group is better than others. They may try to force other groups to start doing x. One of those bunches of people that kinda does not do x will start doing not x to show that they are their own thing, and no other bunch of people can tell them what to do. The Middle East may have something of a problem with having women’s freedom shoved down their throats.

When various curmudgeons disapproved of feminism, they often had little but tradition and inchoate emotions to guide them. They could guess what the future might be like, but they did not actually know. They did not have a magic window through which they could see and here the future. The Middle East is of course not strictly however many years behind the West. They travel their own course determined by the nature of the people.

Nevertheless, they actually do have magic boxes that can show them what a society might be like if feminism were victorious. They just have to tune the satellite dish to Western media. They can see that feminism will turn their daughters into barren, drunken sluts (no judgment). I hear that there are even Middle Easterners who can read. In their readings, they might have noticed that American whites are dying off, lumbering around the world in delirium before they exit the stage. They can see that our people are dying, and are being replaced by more fit Latin Americans filling our territory. Maybe they don’t want their tribe/clan to decline and be replaced by a population that has not adopted Western ways.

Like, we think that the way we live is natural, normal, and the right way to live. Pretty much every group feels that way. But the modern West is only seventy years old. Our culture has not stood the test of time, nor has it dealt with many crises. COVID, the one crisis we do have, has been handled very poorly in the Western world. Asia has done much better. We cannot even meet the most basic test. Reproducing ourselves.

Maybe middle Easterners see the West and do not like what they see. They don’t hate us for our freedom. They may envy our wealth, though it may be more transient than we would like. Perhaps they see how we live, and do not want it at all.

Killing these women’s sons, brothers, fathers really helps to progress them. Killing some women inadvertently when the occasional wedding party gets hit is a price that has to be paid for progress, unfortunately. Turning Afghanistan into one big abattoir since the days of the Soviet invasion has really turned the place into a light upon a hill of women’s advancement. Betty Friedan would be proud.
They’ve been promoting this ‘girls going to school’ and ‘women gaining equality’ routine for this country for years now. It’s gotten stale. Any new propaganda angles?

The real difficulty is that Afghans are singularly unrulable.

The Russians killed literally a tenth of the population and drove a third into refugee camps — and still lost. It all just got the Afghans excited.

Just what sort of holocaust do we think would be sufficient to produce ‘victory’? How horrific a scale of criminality would suffice?

What makes you think the US has done anything to advance “women’s rights” in Afghanistan?

The average Afghan knows nothing of Whites, feminism, Hispanics, fertility rates, or any of that other stuff. He is fighting not against feminism, but against extreme aggression being perpetrated by the US military.

If a foreign country killed 147,000 Americans, would we be slightly angry?

America reacted to 3,000 deaths on 9/11 by slaughtering millions of random people in the Middle East. When the Afghans fight back against US troops, they’re not doing anything that we haven’t done.

The Afghan resistance has nothing to do with feminism, and everything to do with the 147,000 Afghans who the U.S. military killed.

  28. Jiminy says:

Why not just be honest about it all, and declare how America deserves the rights to the mineral wealth of the country of Afghanistan. Somewhat similar to the oil in Syria. To be fair, the US has been in Afghanistan for so long now that they deserve some sort of reparations. That’s apparent to everybody.

The ones with a bit of money try to get into Europe. But who knows, maybe I am wrong and due to Biden they will start coming here too.

But I am sure we will get some of the people who robbed the Afghani people and the Coalition members blind for the past 20 years. These parasites don’t want to stay in Afghanistan when we are no longer there to exploit.

I expect the ones who really stole a lot will buy up big houses and try to get investors’ visas. The ones who stole less will try to get in on asylum. I am so disgusted just thinking about how these people will get over on us in the end.

  38. notsaying says:

Gains could be lost? Come on, that is baloney. Everything will be lost, that is inevitable. It doesn’t matter how fast or slowly we leave. The elected government can’t stand up to the Taliban and win. No matter what treaty the Taliban agree to, they will never abide by it.

After all our efforts, all the things we hoped to avoid will come to pass.

It will be no different than when we ran out of Vietnam.

The Afghans in charge know this. They have been trying to delay our leaving for years but how can we have Americans there forever risking their lives? It is time to come home. It breaks my heart to think of the Afghani people being ruled again by the Taliban. I don’t want this but enough is enough.

It’s about as stupid as the multitude of reasons these marks have died over the past 100 years.

Honestly, after the last year, any white male with sense would either refuse to join the military or get out if they’re already in. If I had never got out then I would be at 16 years, only four short of retirement eligibility, but I’d probably still get out.

I realize people often join the military for purely personal reasons like the pay and benefits, and I respect that. But anyone who still buys into the idea that the military protects “our freedoms” or that the US is worth fighting for is an absolute idiot who deserves whatever they get.

  46. AndrewR says:

I’m not sure I agree that our elites aren’t high off their own supply. 1963 was a long time ago. Even our dear host who constantly calls himself “old” (and has the photos to corroborate his claim) was a very young boy then. I’d be curious to hear his memory of when JFK was killed. He very well might not recall anything.

Certainly some things never change, even over the course of millennia. It’s tempting to say our elites today are as cynical as their predecessors 60 years ago. But I’m not at all convinced that they’re not high off their own supply. How else do you explain all the wokeness the military is subjecting itself to which objectively and undeniably decreases military readiness to a great extent?

    Well said Rob.

150 through say 70 years ago people around the world who encountered it were in awe of the West. The West was so amazingly superior–could produce stuff, could do stuff, could kick ass and take names.

Even the nationalists who wanted to get out from under the West, also wanted to copy the “modernity” of the West. The West had capability and vigor. The West was a stiff dick ready for action.

    Not any more.

Not since the rise of minoritarianism.

People around the world still really want the stuff the West has–the standard of living, the material goodies (even though much of it may actually come from Asia), the medical care, the rule-of-law. But people don’t look at the West and say “let’s be just like those guys”.

  50. I strongly believe in education for women. Easy to predict that military invasion by culturally distant foreigners is not the most effective method to advance it. The Soviets demonstrated that even totalitarian methods were inadequate to the task.

He has been a dead man walking all his life. Amazing he didn’t die much earlier.

As a child, Simmons suffered greatly from bronchial asthma, being taken to the emergency room almost nightly due to him waking up unable to breathe. He was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness but became disillusioned with the faith after an incident where he was hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street. A month later, an insurance representative went to his house to try and reach an agreement to prevent his family from suing. Simmons claims he was told that his family could have been awarded a settlement of $10,000 and possibly even more for the injuries he sustained but that his mother rejected the settlement as she claimed that Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught to be self-sufficient although the group’s official doctrine at the time did not prohibit suing or receiving settlements.

Simmons went through a disjointed childhood that included being beaten by his mother and her various boyfriends so badly that he lost teeth and sustained numerous bruises and cuts on his face. Due to poverty, he slept on the floor with roaches and mice crawling over him in the night. When Simmons was 5 years old, his family settled in public housing in Yonkers, New York. When he was 6 years old, his mother knocked out 2 of his teeth with a broom after he innocently erased something in her notebook. At school, he threw chairs at teachers and stabbed a kid in the face with a pencil. When he was 7, an aunt got him drunk on vodka. The same year, he was jailed for stealing cakes from a market. One summer, his mother locked him in his bedroom, allowing him to only exit for trips to the bathroom. At the end of the fifth grade, at age 10, Simmons was expelled from school and sent to the Julia Dyckman Andrus Children’s Home for 18 months. In what he described as a defining moment of betrayal, his mother tricked him by telling him they were just visiting the home, then she enrolled him there. A few months later, he was arrested for arson in an attempt to burn the school down. He nearly killed his co-conspirator.

When he was 14, Simmons began living on the streets of Yonkers to escape his mother’s abuse, sleeping in Salvation Army clothing bins and befriending stray dogs.

Shortly after he began doing this, his mother once again sent him to a group home. During his stay, Simmons bonded with other students from New York over their shared love of hip hop music. After performing for his friends, they encouraged Simmons to continue writing music at the behest of his teacher. When he returned home, Simmons met Ready Ron, a local rapper, who was impressed with Simmons’ beatboxing skills and asked him to become his partner. Simmons chose the name “DMX”, which came from an instrument he had used at the boys’ home, the Oberheim DMX drum machine. It later was also interpreted as “Dark Man X”.

As a freshman at Yonkers Middle High School, DMX was the second-fastest on the track and field varsity team. However, he had bad grades and a sparse attendance record. He turned to robbery as a way to get out of poverty: his first was a purse snatch theft in Yonkers that netted him $1,000, which he used to buy a new leather dog collar and dog harness for his dog, and a pair of Timbalands for himself. By the end of the year, he attended school just to rob people and was robbing 3 people per day. He then turned to carjacking.

Simmons said he became addicted to crack cocaine when he was 14 years old, after Ready Ron tricked him into smoking a marijuana cigarette laced with the drug while he was counting money after a night of robbing people. He also said that he had bipolar disorder.

DMX entered drug rehabilitation several times including in 2002, 2017, and 2019, when he cancelled concerts.

On February 10, 2016, Simmons was found unresponsive in a Ramada Inn parking lot in Yonkers, New York. He was resuscitated by first responders and intravenously given Narcan, an opiod-reversal drug; he responded quickly to Narcan and became semi-conscious. Simmons was subsequently rushed to the hospital. A witness said he ingested some type of substance before collapsing, but police found no illegal substances on the property. Simmons stated that it was from an asthma attack.

On April 2, 2021, at approximately 11:00 pm, Simmons was rushed to White Plains Hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition following a heart attack at his home possibly resulting from drug overdose. The next day, his attorney Murray Richman confirmed Simmons was on life support. That same night, Simmons suffered cerebral hypoxia (oxygen deprivation to his brain) as paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for 30 minutes. Simmons’ former manager, Nakia Walker, said he was in a “vegetative state” with “lung and brain failure and no current brain activity”. His manager, Steve Rifkind, stated Simmons was comatose and that he was set to undergo tests to determine his brain’s functionality and his family will “determine what’s best from there”.

On April 9, 2021, Simmons was pronounced dead at age 50.

I’m not sure I agree that our elites aren’t high off their own supply.

I agree that our elites are incompetent and believe lots of stupid things, but their support for wars overseas is primarily motivated by greed. Every time a bomb gets dropped on a group of Afghan herders or a bullet shoots someone dead, some defense contractor gets another order. That contractor then kickbacks a lot to the politicians and generals.

More than anything else, that explains why these wars don’t end. The wars are far too lucrative to end.

If we left Afghanistan tomorrow, the CEO of Haliburton wouldn’t be able to buy another Yacht. Congressmen wouldn’t get their unusually large annual political contributions from the defense sector. Senior military officers wouldn’t get invited on MSNBC/FOX/CNN to discuss the “progress” that our troops are making in the “fight against terror.”

    So the wars continue.

How else do you explain all the wokeness the military is subjecting itself to which objectively and undeniably decreases military readiness to a great extent?

    1. Jews attempting to suppress White racial consciousness and demoralize Whites.

A few thousand more crippled Trump-voting white males is an insignificant price to pay for such monumental progress. The Federal Reserve always be able to print enough money to pay them disability benefits and have the VA give them motorized wheelchairs.

    True.

Though the most fanatical supporters of the wars overseas are Trump-support White men from the Red States. A lot of them have spent way too much time watching Rambo, which makes them think that killing people overseas is “cool.”

They are the useful idiots of America. Always ready to support another war overseas. Always ready to sacrifice something useful (like universal healthcare) in order to fund something retarded (more bombs to drop on Afghan villagers).

They’re the sort of people who go online to insult Muslims, praise the US military, and further praise our “greatest ally” Israel.

Well, hell yeah, man, white farm boys from Republican counties in Kansas are just gonna have to keep getting their legs blown off for as long as it takes to empower Afghan women to be able to sleep with as many black men as they want, become porn stars, have third-trimester abortions, get tattoos and pierced nipples, and eat themselves into morbid obesity.

By the way, I’m pretty sure our elites don’t actually care about any of that stuff. Their motivation for continuing the war is because a lot of them are getting rich off the bloodbath. I recall reading somewhere that the cost of sending a soldier overseas is $1 million per year. Imagine just how much elites (especially those connected in with the defense contractors) are making off this.

  55. @Alden

    It’s interesting.

-America murders 147,000 Afghans during our 20+ year “War on Terror.”
-The Afghans fight back the best they can against this slaughter.
-Huge numbers of troops (mostly Red State White males) get killed or seriously injured (often for life).
-Defense contractors make hundreds of billions of dollars (kicking back a lot to politicians&generals).
    – The national debt skyrockets to unsustainable levels.
-Posters here get mad at “feminists.”

There’s a lot to be said about America’s various wars overseas. The extreme numbers of people being killed and maimed (on both sides). The lies being told by the govt. The grifters getting rich off this death and destruction. The ensuing debt crisis that this country will face.

“Feminism” has nothing to do with any of this.

So is this alleged nurse’s tweet based on actual evidence like an official toxicology report, or merely some lawyer’s idea of a lawsuit gambit?

For someone with as many health problems as he seemed to have had, there are a lot of things even in small doses, or combined, that could kill you.

It will be fun to see how the COVID vax Narrators deal with this alternate theory. These are black folks after at (BLACK!) so how could they be lying? Yet the Official Medical Gods tell us that the COVID vaxes are all safe. What gives?

I wouldn’t say that stupid deserves any reparations.
In fact I would say that if anyone deserves reparations the government should be giving them to the American soldiers killed and wounded as well as the countless Afghan’s caught up in our half-assed exercise at empire building.
The only reason that we ever staying in the country is for access to the minerals and the geographic strategic location. All the talk of women and democracy is pure BS.
Unfortunately for everyone involved we excel at the carnage of empire building with none of the strategic benefits.

  60. @Colin Wright

A friend of mine who was a grunt in Vietnam told me the only way to win the war was to kill every single male age 14-54. Life is a completely different proposition where boys grow up expecting to die eventually fighting the enemies but by God they are going to kill as many of them as they can before they go. Some of those assassinations by suicide bomber the suicide bomber is an army officer with an exemplary career and blowing his ass up and taking out a mucky muck is the crowning laurel for it.

It’s different. Do you know what they call a Big Mac in Kabul?

Even the misogynist White women hating MEN OF UNZ prefer to live in America among us evil feminazis and clean water , flush toilets and sewers, to dysentery causing water, hole in the ground toilets and open sewers

Yes, if nothing else, nice, good, wholesome feminism gave us all clean water, flush toilets and sewers — the MEN OF UNZ will just have to agree on that one. They just do. After all, who doesn’t recall the iconic image of Gloria Allred snaking a drain while Andrea Dworkin unclogs a toilet? Or that of Shulamit Firestone inventing the water closet and beamingly holding the granted patent over her head on the court house steps as the MEN OF UNZ slink away in the background? Sure, the fact that Afghanistan has the biggest poppy plantations in the World, and that curiously enough, was in the mid-2000’s that the big opioid crises started to happen in States, are just 2 minor coincidences.

Interesting hypotheses. Those all have explanatory power but I think that there are few if any elites that haven’t internalized at least a lot of the propaganda that they push on us. Consciously lying all the time is psychologically taxing, if for no other reason than the need to keep your story straight. Granted, our elites often do a bad job of keeping the story straight, but it’s often hard to tell the difference between a nutjob and a bad liar.

Sure, the fact that Afghanistan has the biggest poppy plantations in the World,

    Citation required.

and that curiously enough, was in the mid-2000’s that the big opioid crises started to happen in States,

The opioid crisis began in the late 1990’s and the death rate was already notable by 2000. The study done around 2014-2015 noting white life span decrease looked back 15 years. Part of the problem was people switching from Purdue Pharma’s Oxycontin to Mexican heroin It turns out that Mexico is closer to the US than Afghanistan, reducing transportation costs. It also turns out that quality control in the average illegal heroin lab is lower than in one of the Sackler family’s opioid factories, leading to people dying of overdoses.

It is a popular claim that the poppy fields of ‘Stan are the reason for the occupation, but that underestimates the power of politics.

Either way, 20+ years is more than long enough.

In Tasmania you see the opium poppy growing commercially in a lot of fields. There was good money in it. As it is a variety that’s been modified to have the wanted chemical in the stalks and fibre I believe, the poppies have to be harvested and taken to a mill where the extraction process takes place. If I read the pamphlet correctly years ago that is. Whereas the natural plant gives out different chemicals as a sap from the flower pod. Plus these poppies have more of an alkaloid called thebaine in them, which is poisonous. This chemical allows Johnson and Johnson to get around certain drug supply laws. You see them from the road while driving around.

Thanks for the cite to the UN document. It is remarkable, given the fact that most of Afghanistan is not particularly arable land.

Ok, i wasnt aware of that Mexican part of the equation.

Mexican “black tar” heroin has been an ongoing issue in the US for decades, at least back to the 70’s. Maybe longer.

This reminded me of other poppy growing areas, and I wondered about the so-called “golden triangle” where Myanmar, Thailand and China meet. It used to be a major source of SE Asian heroin. A quick search turned this up from last year:

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/19/south-east-asias-biggest-drugs-raid-200m-meth-tablets-found-in-myanmar

Looks like whoever runs the “Shan state” now has moved on technologically. Synthetic opiate fentanyl vs. opium from poppies. There is more up front investment on chemical precursors, equipment and a few sort of skilled chemical techs. But still, it’s probably easier to synthesize fentanyl in a few industrial buildings than keep track of dozens or even hundreds of farmers on opium poppy fields. Plus not vulnerable to some surprise airplane viewing / spraying.

Speedballs rolled up from illegal fentanyl and meth have been on the street in the US for a few years.

    Thanks again for the reference.

Yes, and you are complaining about white men on the internet in a fairly feminist country instead of freeing your sisters from those scary Muslim males.

Why aren’t you doing more to help women?

  75. Spect3r says:
    @anon

    You are welcome 🙂

Indeed, the “Golden Triangle” has evolved to mainly synthetic drugs. Meth, Extasy, etc.
Easier to keep track, easier to make as well, since all you need is someone who knows how to follow the procedures, versus having to grow a plant, where you are dependable on external factors as climate conditions, etc

Another interesting fact is that, based on what you tell me regarding heroin coming from Mexico, seems like they changed with Asia in what drug each of them supplies, as a large portion of Meth consumed in NA, now comes from Asia instead of Mexico
    https://www.voanews.com/usa/report-china-major-source-crystal-meth-shipped-us

So a speedball in USA is heroin and meth? Interesting.
In Portugal a speedball is heroin and coke.
