Harvard economist Raj Chetty has studied for 7 years the baffling mystery of why inner city blacks haven’t all moved away from their Tragic Dirt to the Magic Dirt of the suburbs.

But, as one resident pointed out, he likes living in the ‘hood because it’s not boring: there’s always something interesting going on. For example:

I for one am all for using social workers as buffers between police and blacks.

911 and trouble? Why make white cops take the brunt? Let proggy social workers approach the blacks, get beat up, and then give white cops the justification to move in to handle the situation.

    It will be BEAUTIFUL.

Use social workers as ‘scouts’ for all urban troubles.

  9. Regarding the video:
The egalitarian dogma preaches that all people are equal. Protected SJW snowflakes are not aware that the reality of life in the hood is different from their affluent white suburban life experience.

Such videos are, deceptively, hidden from Leftist life. Lie/manipulate by omission that keeps people ignorant of reality and maintains their false world view.

Maybe this kind of fighting action is more exciting than boring suburbia? Nothing happens.
It is also the rental prices, the covenants, rules and regulations, the minimum area of houses, etc. All cumbersome expensive ways to keep lower income people out.
But, the question is of extreme relevance. Whites work their a… off to pay wastefully expensive housing and commuting to keep trouble out of their neighborhood and schools.

Steve, you ask about the “Magic Dirt” of the suburbs while presuming that the subjects of this video are still living in the “inner city”… But if you peel your eyes away from the excited commotion in the foreground of the video (not easy), you’ll see that this neighborhood is fairly leafy and full of low-density low-rise single family type houses.

It looks like an older American suburb which, sixty years ago, might have hosted some White Flighters recently moved out of the actual apartment-block inner city, but which in more recent years got Affirmatively Furthered good and hard. So sad!

I’d say the Inner City is really more of an inner state of mind, and if Inner City folks move out to the suburbs, all of a sudden the suburbs will become the “Inner City.” Like in France, as you are fond of noting.

I don’t know why you’re looking at France for an example. Isn’t Detriot a bit closer and more apt? The cancer grows to consume its host. It swallowed first the City of Detroit and quickly metastasized until it became a region threatening ultimately to merge with the smaller tumor in Pontiac.

There remain only enclaves of abundantly well policed whites, but I don’t see as many of their kids out rioting as one sees in other regions. Detriot is the planned future for every major city. The end result is more based white kids anyway.

A large reason Detriot hasn’t burned like her northern neighbors (yeah, besides the fact that there ain’t much left to burn) is that after decades of negro misrule, they’ve currently elected themselves some real Law & Order types in Kym Worthy (prosecutor who took down King Kwame Kilpatrick) and James Craig (Police Chief who advised all law abiding citizens to carry armed and to drive through broken stoplights or any suspicious looking intersections). The adult negroes are currently in charge and won’t tolerate any mayhem from the young’uns.

Harvard economist Raj Chetty has studied for 7 years the baffling mystery of why inner city blacks haven’t all moved away from their Tragic Dirt to the Magic Dirt of the suburbs.

Poor blacks don’t like being repeatedly confronted by non-black neighbors who won’t go along with their ghetto ways. That’s how they were ethnically cleansed from Compton, Inglewood, South Central, etc. Middle class Hispanics would confront them. Hispanics are generally better organized because the “family unit” is everything to them. So, if you screw with Juan, you’re screwing with his brothers, uncles, and cousins. Black family unit is generally fractured, no dad around, less social assets to call up when the going gets tough.

With so many Hispanic immigrants, So. Cal blacks moved out if state, or to high desert areas like Lancaster, Hesperia, and those desert “dead zone” areas where they can congregate together without as much Hispanic reaction to them, or fancy-thinkin’ trained police detectives–much to the chagrin of the Lancaster Sheriffs dept, which quickly became overloaded with violent crimes and murders in what was before a sleepy town.

Also… once you get into the white suburbs of little towns, you’ll find they can feature emotional and violence-inclined white folks who don’t give a damn, much like their ghetto black antagonists. All white folks aren’t beta liberals. If you were a black ghettonian, would you want to live next door to this? Better to stay put and play the game you know:

His ardent admirers have contented that he was tricked into this unsavory arrangement by Lloyd George and Clemenceau who were masters of the craft sinister. Ben Hecht, in his Erik Dorn, accepts this viewpoint and pungently refers to Wilson in Paris as a ‘long-faced virgin trapped in a bawdy house and calling in valiant tones for a glass of lemonade’. (Oscar Cargill, Intellectual America. Ideas on the March, New York, 1941, 504). In truth, Wilson ordered his glass of lemonade heavily spiked with the hard liquor of deceit, and the whole world has paid for the extended binge of a so-called stateman who promised peace while weaving a web of war … When President Wilson surrendered [his position of honouring the Pre-Armistice Agreement] he thereby extended a favor to Adolf Hitler who warmly welcomed illustrations of Allied duplicity as one of the best means of promoting the Nazi movement.” (from Charles C. Tansill, Back Door to War. The Roosevelt Foreign Policy 1933-1941) (as cited in Martin Erdmann, “Building the Kingdom of God on Earth: The Churches’ Contribution to Marshal Public Support for World Order and Peace 1919-1945”)

Hum. Miss Attiah has posted a link to a Latinx site called Refusing to Forget (A bit heavy-handed with the Holocaust reference). Apparently the site is supposed to commemorate anti-Latinx violence in Texas during the period 1910-1920. Let’s take a gander:

Border turmoil became the sparks that ignited a brutal period of repression. Scattered attacks on ranches, irrigation works, and railroads by ethnic Mexicans quickly developed into a local rebellion in the Valley. They appeared to be the fulfillment of a manifesto entitled the “Plan de San Diego” drafted in South Texas in early 1915. This document called for a “liberating army of all races” composed of Mexicans, blacks, and Indians to kill all white males over age sixteen and overthrow United States rule in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and California. The newly-freed territory would form an independent republic, perhaps to rejoin Mexico at a future date. The insurrectionists killed only a handful, but prompted indiscriminate reprisals.

Well, kudos for at least mentioning the Plan of San Diego…..On the other hand , I’m quite sure that more “emotional” language would have been used if they were discussing an Anglo plan for killing Mexican men….Note, too, the immediate attempt to minimize the threat (“killed only a handful”). How many are in a handful? Some actual numbers would be nice…

Texas Rangers played a key role in these atrocities. On September 28, 1915, for example, after a clash with about forty raiders near Ebenoza, Hidalgo County, the victorious Rangers took about a dozen raiders prisoner and promptly hung them, leaving their bodies in the open for months.

As expected, no details on the raid….

Several weeks later, on October 19, after a dramatic attack derailed a passenger train heading north from Brownsville, Rangers detained ten ethnic Mexicans nearby, quickly hanging four and shooting four others.

So, all that happened is that a train was derailed? I’m a tad suspicious. Let’s see what a little googling will reveal….Well, according to Swanson’s Cult of Glory, after derailing the train, the attackers went in and shot and robbed the Anglo passengers. Three of the passengers were killed , and three were wounded…Gotta love how the authors gloss over anti-Anglo violence while dilating over anti-Latinx incidents…

Glasgow and Exeter University both had a lack of diversity on their teams

One viewer, @bridgetevans42, raged: ‘What a sad indictment of our universities’

Viewers tuning into the latest series of University Challenge have expressed their dismay at what they say is an ongoing lack of diversity amongst contestants, with the latest two teams fielding seven white men out of eight possible contestants.

The much-loved academic quiz was back on screens on BBC 2 last night, with regular host Jeremy Paxman at the helm.

However, there was some criticism on social media after the opening match saw the University of Glasgow and Exeter University teams dominated by white male contestants. Gravett, who appeared for Exeter, was the only female contestant.

Harvard economist Raj Chetty has studied for 7 years the baffling mystery of why inner city blacks haven’t all moved away from their Tragic Dirt to the Magic Dirt of the suburbs.

Actually, the black population has seen considerable deconcentration in the last 40 years and as often as not blacks live in white majority areas without incident. The slums are a collecting pool of three sorts of people: (1) ordinary wage-earners who live in the slums for a variety of reasons (lower rents, proximity to friends and family, inertia), wage-earners who behave in vulgar and ill-mannered ways which cause other people to move away from them (a common vector is the conduct of their children, who steal Christmas wreaths, drop the F-bomb on elderly women, climb on your trellises, and harass your dog), and lumpenproletarians who behave badly in criminal ways or cannot control their young who behave badly. Black politicians (and now Democratic politicians generally, especially those on the bench), play to Id of people in the second category by running interference for people in the 3d category, making everybody else in the world worse off.

Unfortunately, I don’t see everyone warming to that prospect. In fact, I don’t see an estate agent telling a prospective client, “Now this is an interesting neighbourhood,” having much luck unloading a house in that neighbourhood at all.

Is it perhaps true that, the lower the IQ, the greater the need for constant excitement? Is that the real lesson to be learned from all the brawling and shooting in bleg neighbourhoods?

The best argument for segregation is that there are enough aggregate level differences between Negroes and Europeans that it is impossible to have a culture, society, government, or even economy that will satisfy the needs and desires of both populations. Negroes do better with a “big man” form of government. When the “big man” has to satisfy only the needs of his Negro constituency and not answer to the requirements some set of prog enablers he can institute policies that Europeans would not tolerate but which suit a largely Negro population, e.g., ultra-strict policing and punishment, brutal control of students in classrooms, rote learning, and a whole host of other policies.

If we do not return to some benign form of Jim Crow in this country, I expect that we will eventually wind up with some form of racial secession, with Negroes self-segregating into separate enclaves, which will effectively be politically independent .

    I posted this elsewhere recently:

All my rentals are in suburban communities that have been destroyed by diversity. One particular that I was sad to see go was this little neighborhood between Morse and Dublin-Granville Rd. in Columbus. It is known as the Forest Park neighborhood and it was designed as a suburb with those winding roads and cul de sacs to suppress fast through traffic. At the center is a huge traffic circle and in the middle of the circle is a shopping center that was intended to be the community center. Grocery store, bowling alley, various other shops.

It managed to maintain for a good long while. The first killer was the fact that it is within Columbus Public Schools. As the schools went Black and violent, people with options didn’t want to live within the district, but there were still Catholic schools and a certain amount of people willing to brave the diversity. But the Catholic schools have become Blacker, too, and most of the charter schools in the area are majority Black.

Then a few years ago, they started dumping Somalis in the area. It destroyed the neighborhood. Untended garbage-filled yards, filth.

The North Linden area a little ways south was the same thing, but 20 years earlier, destroyed by Section 8. There were projects nearby, which a lot of people didn’t want to live too close to, and also Columbus public schools, but there were a decent amount of working-class Whites who figured that a nice 3-4 bedroom house for $40-$60k was worth the effort (I was one of them back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. WE homeschooled, so didn’t care about the schools). Back in those days Columbus Alternative High School was still a good place and it was smack in the middle of North Linden.

But once they shut down the projects and started offering section 8 vouchers, the ghetto streamed into North Linden.

The area south of Hudson Ave was always (at least, since Blacks started moving in in the 60s-70s) pretty bad, but the dysfunction has moved many blocks north. We only own one rental south of Hudson and we simply can’t rent it to White people — it’s not safe for them. North of Hudson, the farther north you go the nicer the neighborhood gets, but the cancer is still spreading. With the Somali invasion immediately north, it’s just sad what has happened.

Northland Mall used to be at the Northern border of North Linden about 20 years ago, but even then the rot was setting in. I had a friend from work who was cornered by a Black gang at the mall and savagely beaten: He was the most stereotypically mild, gentle GoodWhite you’ve ever met.

What killed the mall was the apartments known as “Uzi Alley” immediately south of the mall.

The mall was shut down not long afterward, then torn down. The area stood empty for years, but now it is government buildings and has had a bit of a renaissance with a Menards and some strip malls, but the Somalis and Blacks make it hard to keep anything nice. One of my daughters lives in the area and will no longer go the Kroger there, because it is so full of Somalis who leave everything dirty and are always starting trouble.

You have to fight for every step. The problem isn’t “suburbs” or any way people like to live. The problem is Whites being driven out by Blacks and other minorities.

As in all such matters of vengeance, whether extrajudicial or within the “justice system,” mistakes will inevitably be made and occasional innocents suffer the reprisals. And Mexico during the period 1910-1920 was a slaughterhouse. Approx one million Mexicans died during that ten year span…

The population explosion of the 20th Century is so pervasive that populations have continued to climb during most of the bad times listed on this page; however, the intensity of the Mexican Revolution is such that the counted population of Mexico actually declined from 15,160,369 in 1910 to 14,334,780 in 1921. So how many people died in the war?
    Most scholars are rather vague:
“conservatively estimated at half a million” (Peter Calvert, Mexico, 1973)
“perhaps a million” (C. Cumberland, Mexican Revolution: the constitutionalist years, 1972)
“estimated at 1 million” (Crow, The Epic of Latin America)
Encyclopedia Americana (2003), “Mexico”: 1M lives
    “at least a million” (Wallechensky)
“perhaps 2 million” (R.J. Rummel, although he later tightens his estimate to 2,142,000)
“as many as two million” (T.R. Fehrenbach, Fire and Blood, 1973)
    War Deaths:
    Wallechensky: 200,000
    Small & Singer: 250,000
Rummel: 200,000 battle deaths + 125,000 incidental civilian deaths
Enrique Krauze, Mexico : Biography of Power (1997): 250,000 combat deaths; 750,000 of disease/hunger
    Eckhardt: 125,000 civ. + 125,000 mil. = 250,000
A detailed online analysis can be found at (http://www.hist.umn.edu/~rmccaa/missmill/mxrev.htm%5D “Missing millions: the human cost of the Mexican Revolution” by Robert McCaa. He estimates 1.4M excess deaths due to war.

The Texas Rangers’ team name must go

The reality is more complex. For example, here’s an interesting episode involving the Texas Rangers:

HOWARD, SARAH CREATH (ca. 1812–ca. 1876). Sarah Creath Howard, pioneer woman, was born near Brownsville in Jackson County, Illinois, around 1812. If trials and tribulations build character, she must have had superior qualities, for her life was marked by one misfortune after another. Little is known of her until she and her husband, John McSherry, arrived in 1828 in DeWitt’s colony, Texas, and settled on the west bank of the Guadalupe River some ten miles downstream from their nearest neighbor, Andrew Lockhart. Sarah was described as “a beautiful blonde…graceful in manner and pure of heart.” John was “an honest, industrious man of nerve and will.” Sarah gave birth to a son in 1829. Later that year her husband was killed by a band of Indians, after which Mrs. McSherry barred her cabin door, grabbed her gun, and prepared to defend herself and her baby. After being rescued by John McCrabb, a passerby, later that evening, Sarah departed her home and arrived the next day at the home of Andrew Lockhart, where she remained until she met and later married John Hibbins (or Hibbons). According to reports, Hibbins was a “well-to-do man.” The Hibbinses took up residence in DeWitt County near the Guadalupe, but this time on the east bank near the site of present Concrete. During the summer of 1835, Sarah Hibbins and her two children journeyed to Illinois to visit her relatives. On the return trip to Texas in early 1836, she was accompanied by her only brother, George Creath. After arriving at Columbia on the Brazos in February 1836, Sarah, her children, and George were met by John Hibbins. As they reached Rock Creek, six miles from a site known as Sweet Home and only fifteen miles from the Hibbinses’ home, thirteen Comanches attacked the party, killed Hibbins and George Creath, and captured Sarah and her children.

As Indian captives, closely guarded, Sarah and her children were permitted little privacy or freedom. Even while they slept, two guards stayed with them. As the Comanches made their second camp with the captives, the little baby began crying, and one of the Comanches smashed its head against a nearby tree as Sarah looked on in horror.

After they had traveled across the Colorado River, the Comanches permitted Sarah and her remaining son to sleep without the close guards. At night, while everyone else was sleeping, Sarah slipped out of the camp, although her escape meant leaving her son behind. She traveled in the river and brush and eventually happened upon a herd of cattle and followed them home to seek help. Her journey of only ten miles had taken her twenty-four hours. Using information given by Sarah, Capt. John J. Tumlinson, Jr., successfully led a group of Texas Rangers in a raid against the Indians and rescued the boy.

The Commanches effectively drove the Apaches and other tribes from their territory, loving nothing better than to raid, rape, torture, main and kill their “foes.” A reading of “Empire of the Summer Moon” and “Death of the Bravos” would teach her this. The Rangers were a response to the wanton killing of helpless White settlers.

Interestingly I know peripherally (more like have a few friends in common) the mayor of San Diego, Kevin Faulconer. He said right when this started he told their police to use pepper spray as much as they wanted, don’t hesitate to arrest vandals and looters, people disobeying lawful police orders, blocking roads, whatever.

He said he met with a bunch of police right when this started – told them they will be supported, backed up by his administration, etc. It was like a pregame speech before a football game, everyone hooting and cheering. San Diego is a big Navy/Marine Corps town and lots of their cops came from that world and very much dislike the mayhem and disorder.

Absolutely true. If every brainless liberal/leftist or "moderate" had to live in Blacktown for at least a year (okay, you can choose your roommates for security) then we would have a much better chance of "racial harmony."

As a penniless college student I lived in a commune style house with other student age people. Some of whom were working for the local poverty program. In a former Jewish neighborhood with some very old legacy white residents, but mainly black. Not ghetto but still quite noisy with gunfire and cops patrolling only in convoys at night. Nice old houses, our rent was cheap. Jewish landlord.

Someone once broke in and stole my 25 lb. black & white TV that had a wire coat hanger for an antenna. Still, close to school and parks. Little black kid once knocked at the door and asked if "we hippies" needed any pot he was selling. Door-to-door convenience! (We declined, paranoid.)

That was the good part of Blacktown. Santa Claus couple next door (ancient whites) and the abortion clinic on the other ("woman's health center.") Aside from the horrible walking distance grocery store (no veggies, food stamp customers) it was okay. Close to my nearly all white university. I had no money so I rode a $20 used bike. Not surprisingly, I was the only student at my uni who lived in that neighborhood. Did not turn into a SJW, but I get along with everyone now, so long as they are decent honest people.

Are you speaking of the Voivodeship of Serbia and Banat of Temeschwar seriously or ironically?

You are referring to the Austrian Imperial name of modern day Vojvodina (“j” is a “y” sound), which is a “thing” inasmuch the United States Air Force conducted bombing missions against this place a couple or a few wars ago, depending on your count.

Its German-speaking people who threw their lot in with Mr. Shicklgruber shared the same fate of expulsion in about the same time frame from their native land as the Palestinians did, whose contemporaneous patrons are said to have done much the same. Somehow, the Palestinian cause has gotten more traction among the Left, than a bunch of Ausländische Deutsche whose ancestors were admirers of the Austrian Corporal. However much the Serbs are demonized by Those Who Have it In for All Orthodox Christians, they are not about to champion the cause of ethnic Germans who suffered under the Serbs?

Hence certain persons living in the U.S. would have a valid claim to land there, that is, if, laugh out loud, such territorial claims of expelled ethnic groups were uniformly supported in the West, especially by the Western Left, probably could be repatriated to the German Federal Republic under the German Law of Return, which many of them had already done a long time ago. But such a person would have to listen to some other recent German immigrants going on and on about their valid land claims in Somewhere Else, that, along with having to pay really high rates for electric service. Hungary’s Viktor Orban might take you in, but whereas German is sort of, kind of like English, Hungarian might as well be Klingon and hence it is a major project to learn.

But would a generic white American escaping the Current Madness, even someone sharing the Putinesque Orthodox-Christian White-person Dream, be even admitted to a place the US bombed, for crying out loud, in recent memory?

The prescription jested at in AnotherDad’s post is humorous to indulge, and perhaps directly pursuing it instilled a bit of common sense in you, personally. Unfortunately, I don’t think it quite does the trick for many aspiring young leftists. In fact, when I attended undergraduate / graduate school in the not too distant past, it was commonplace for left leaning college students to wear it as a badge of chic that they inhabited the most ghetto and disrepaired corners of town, and to flaunt this with an airs of cultivated nonchalance. On more than one occasion, in the coffee shop, in the library, or wherever, I can recall being proximate to conversations in which hipsters would be acquainting themselves with one another. When the topic of location of residence arose, one party might name drop an address obviously located squarely in the the epicenter of the nearest ghetto, in and area nearby to a housing project, where notorious armed robberies / sexual assaults of students had occurred, where as a matter of common knowledge parents would admonish their progeny not to wander, etc. Though these aspects immediately presented themselves as the pink elephant in the room, the other party to the conversation would nod his head, and assent that he had heard that that’s a “neat place to live”, and off the conversation would continue. In particular, for many students, the ego rush, status boost, and vanity of being able to brag that they lived in the ghetto while appearing glibly unconcerned with the associated dysfunctionality seemed to genuinely outweigh for them the possibility that they could end up (as more than a trivial number did) robbed, stabbed, raped or shot from doing so.

Always thought it odd that the Spartans had long hair….

In the earliest times the Greeks wore their hair kome (long), and thus Homer constantly calls them karekomoontes.

This ancient practice was preserved by the Spartans for many centuries. The Spartan boys always had their hair cut quite short (en chroi keirontes);[1] but as soon as they reached the age of puberty, they let it grow long. They prided themselves upon their hair, calling it the cheapest of ornaments (kosmon adapanotatos), and before going to battle they combed and dressed it with especial care, in which act Leonidas and his followers were discovered by the Persian spy before the battle of Thermopylae.[2] It seems that both Spartan men and women tied their hair in a knot over the crown of the head.[3] At a later time the Spartans abandoned this ancient custom, and wore their hair short, and hence some writers erroneously attribute this practice to an earlier period.[4]

Again, rubbish. You have 19 million employed blacks in the United States. Employment-to-population ratios are about 10% lower among blacks than among others, as a rule. (That particular phenomenon appeared around 1960). Over 150 years, you have had quite a bit of evolution in the distribution of employees between sectors and occupations. Blacks have adapted to that along with everyone else.

I have spent some time there recently and here’s what is going on: The city itself is very white by American standards, but the suburbs are increasingly brown. BLM riots occurred in the eastern suburbs and rioters attacked or tried to attack the few remaining white working class enclaves. SD is headed for disaster as much as anywhere else in America is. SD is a hotbed of both African and Middle Eastern immigration. The rich white enclaves on the coast are on borrowed time. Asians will be buying up all the real estate in those places in the coming years and whites will be displaced yet again.

Here’s a heart warming story from SD:

Poway rabbi pleads guilty to tax fraud

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Poway rabbi who survived a gunman’s rampage on his synagogue over a year ago is facing probation after pleading guilty to federal charges of tax fraud and wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in San Diego said in a press conference Tuesday.

Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein pleaded guilty to participating in a 90-10 “tax deduction conspiracy” in which Goldstein collected large donations to Chabad of Poway, but then secretly returned 90 percent of the contribution back to the individual along with a receipt.

    https://www.10news.com/news/local-news/north-county-news/report-poway-rabbi-pleads-guilty-to-tax-fraud

    But wait, there is more:

Brewer said Goldstein submitted fraudulent invoices to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other entities in order to obtain grant funding. The rabbi created fake invoices using a
fictitious construction company to receive money for property damage repairs caused by the 2007 San Diego wildfires.

Goldstein obtained grants to make improvements or repairs to Chabad, but he instead pocketed the money, according to the criminal complaint.

But it looks like the crook is getting off:

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is recommending Goldstein be sentenced to probation. Goldstein has also agreed to pay $2.5 million in restitution, said Brewer.

No word on charges for the crooked donors who are guilty of tax fraud.

Neither VDH or you appear to be the least bit aware that blacks have the option to live just about anywhere they can afford to live. They don’t take that option for the variety of reasons people have for living where they do. You have nine counties around Chicago which have just north of 1.6 million blacks. The black sections of those 9 counties consist of about 6 neighborhoods on the city’s west side, about 27 neighborhoods on the South Side, one suburb in Cook County (Harvey), and two municipalities in Lake County, Indiana (Gary and East Chicago). About 750,000 blacks live in these areas, accounting for 46% of the black population around Chicago. The other 54% lives in parts of greater Chicago where they’re a distinct minority.

I’ve lived in a town that was 20% black. It wasn’t a ruin. The homicide rate was 2 per 100,000 in that town. Most blacks are wage-earners with approximately normal dispositions, appended to which there’s a modest minority of salaried employees. At times, the dynamics of intra-metropolitan migration has blacks of that sort collecting in one town.

See, for an example, a suburb the moderator has written about: Southfield, Michigan in Wayne County outside of Detroit. The population is 73,000 and about 70% of the people there are black. The murder rate bounces around 2.7 per 100,000; forcible rape bounces around 45 per 100,000; the robbery rate is about 80 per 100,000; aggravated assault, 150 per 100,000; car theft, 366 per 100,000. The only elevated metric is car theft.
