The federal Bureau of Justice Statistics (which sounds like where Batman’s nerdy cousin works) has published 86 reports so far this year on a broad array of topics concerning crime and law enforcement. For instance, here’s an interesting recent tweet from them promoting their November report “Suicide in Local Jails and State and Federal Prisons:”

For example, BJS has published five reports so far in 2021 with the word “hate” in the title.

But two words no longer ever appear in the titles on BJS reports: “murder” (not since 2001) and “homicide” (not since July 2014). Here are all the BJS reports of this century with “homicide” in the title.

There used to be a standard report updated intermittently called “Homicide Trends in the United States.”

It included useful graphs such as in the 2011 update:

A document entitled “Homicide Trends in the United States” kinda sounds like an interesting and important report for the Bureau of Justice Statistics to inform the public about on a regular basis, right?

Apparently not. The last full update was published over ten years ago and a less informative version in 2013, when the Obama Administration removed all the information about the demographics of known murder offenders and instead just reported victim demographics.

After all, what is less important to keep the public well-informed about than “Homicide Trends in the United States”?

In case you are wondering, the word “homicides” last appeared in the title of a BJS report in 1999 and the word “murders” never.

This is not to say that the diligent researcher can’t find numbers about homicide trends somewhere in the hundreds of reports issued over the last decade by the BJS. But putting them together in one easy-to-find document is Just Not Done Anymore.

Note that I first complained about what the Obama Administration BJS was up to back in 2013, when I pointed out that the BJS used to have a website devoted to making it super easy to look the Homicide Trends graphs, with separate URLs for each topic, which was very convenient for online comments and debates.

Then the Obama Administration took down the website and left up only the lengthy PDF for you to download and look through.

Then in 2013 it stopped publishing in the newest PDF the radioactive data on known homicide offenders to coddle black fantasies that the reason Gun Violence Descends on black neighborhoods so much is due to all the white murderers killing blacks.

Then it stopped updating the Homicide Trends report at all and the Trump Administration did zero about it. I don’t expect the Biden Administration to bring it back either.

I apologize if my coverage of the demographics of homicide trends over the years and decades may seem repetitious and pedantic to my long-suffering readers. But, during the national insanity from May 25, 2020 to who knows when it will end, you have to admit that the powerful have succeeded in persuading a large fraction of the public to not notice what’s in front of their noses. What goes unsaid eventually goes unthought and then we start destroying our civilization because we can’t even conceive of the truth anymore.

I’ve taken on the role of the kid who points out the emperor has no clothes. But, it turns out, Hans Christian Andersen didn’t quite get it all right. Instead of suddenly realizing the truthteller is right, people tend to get mad at him, or at least wish he’d stop making such a fuss about such a minor matter as murder.

Fortunately, some people do get it, and to you I’m immensely grateful for your psychological and financial support.

Thanks to everybody who has contributed so far to the current triennial iSteve fundraiser. For those who haven’t yet, here are eight ways for you to contribute to the December fundraiser:

First: Most banks now allow fee-free money transfers via Zelle.

Zelle is really a good system: easy to use and the fees are nonexistent.

If you have a Wells Fargo bank account, you can transfer money to me (with no fees) via Wells Fargo SurePay/Zelle. Just tell WF SurePay/Zelle to send the money to my ancient AOL email address steveslrAT aol.com — replace the AT with the usual @). (Non-tax deductible.) Please note, there is no 2.9% fee like with Paypal or Google Wallet, so this is good for large contributions.

Zelle contributions are not tax deductible.

Second: if you have a Chase bank account (or even other bank accounts), you can transfer money to me (with no fees) via Chase QuickPay/Zelle (FAQ). Just tell Chase QuickPay/Zelle to send the money to my ancient AOL email address (steveslrATaol.com — replace the AT with the usual @). If Chase asks for the name on my account, it’s StevenSailer with an n at the end of Steven. (Non-tax deductible.) There is no 2.9% fee like with Paypal or Google Wallet, so this is also good for large contributions.

Third, Zelle might work with other banks too. Here’s a Zelle link for CitiBank. And Bank of America.

Fourth: You can use Paypal (non-tax deductible) by going to the page on my old blog here. Paypal accepts most credit cards. Contributions can be either one-time only, monthly, or annual. (Monthly is nice.)

Fifth: You can mail a non-tax deductible donation to:

Steve Sailer
P.O Box 4142
Valley Village, CA 91617

Sixth: You can make a tax deductible contribution via VDARE by clicking here.

Please don’t forget to click my name at the VDARE site so the money goes to me: first, click on “Earmark your donation,” then click on “Steve Sailer:”

VDARE has been kiboshed from use of Paypal for being, I dunno, EVIL. But you can give via credit cards, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin, check, money order, or stock.

Note: the VDARE site goes up and down on its own schedule, so if this link stops working, please let me know.

Seventh: send money via the Paypal-like Google Wallet to my Gmail address (that’s isteveslrATgmail .com — replace the AT with a @). (Non-tax deductible.)

Eight: You can send me Bitcoin. Bitcoin payments are not tax deductible.

Here’s my Bitcoin address:

1EkuvRNR86uJzpopquxdnmF23iA3vzdDuc

Here’s the OCR

Please let me know if this works, ideally by sending me Bitcoin. Or let me know what else you’d like to send me.

If you’re sending to a crypto address that belongs to another Coinbase user who has opted into Instant sends in their privacy settings, you can send your funds instantly to them with no transaction fees. This transaction will not be sent on chain, and is similar to sending to an email address.

Pay With Bitcoin (denominated in U.S. Dollars)

This second is if you want to enter a Bitcoin-denominated amount. (Remember one Bitcoin is currently worth many U.S. dollars.)

Pay With Bitcoin (denominated in Bitcoins)

Ninth: I added Square [which is now Block] as a fundraising medium, although I’m vague on how it works. If you want to use Square, send me an email telling me how much to send you an invoice for. Or, if you know an easier way for us to use Square, please let me know.

Thanks.

  1. We should spam them as a group and force them to publish an updated report

  2. I wouldn’t, because I don’t live in a high-crime slum and my risk of being personally murdered is likely to be lower than being hit by lightning.

Further, nobody wants to give me responsibility for fixing the problem, so it’s fully not my business. In any case, discontinuing the report tells me they have something to hide. It’s a binary situation, so it’s very easy to work out what they need to hide.

I have never been the victim of physical violence. Nobody I know has ever been the victim of criminal violence. You have to spread out pretty far to even find someone who was beat up at school. If it weren’t for newspapers, I may well think murder is a myth that doesn’t genuinely occur.

That's the case here in mid-New England (NH). Although I will say boys got into scraps every year I was in school growing up down in Fairfax, VA circa 1960s-70s. Every year ya hadda prove you weren't chicken. Even if the bully got the best of you, by slugging back, you made yourself more trouble to him than it was worth especially if you took up for someone less equipped. I fucking hate bullies. Happens when you play sports and hang around with jocks. And that was all White kids. It was a boy's existence. But Fairfax went to shit in the 00s and I moved up here to the serene conditions you experience. Good to live free.

This is one of the problems with right-wing anti-intellectualism—nobody in the Trump White House to say “hey, we should be collecting data our side uses.”

Trump had little control over the (his) US Dept of Justice. If Trump and his underlings ordered the collection and distribution of US murder statistics, it would have been delayed to death and never done. The managerial state/permanent left wing bureaucracy in action.
  9. Should we take this to mean things were improving under pre-FloydFest Trump and rapidly declined during FloydFest and Biden? Or would the reporting period have ended years earlier? I mean if they still did homicide reports.

Having the Whatever Department of Thing kill reports that make you look bad and a loyal press that does not scream “Department of Whatever Kills Annual Something Report,” as they would have done under Trump, is a huge advantage for the D team. How would the media know? Because bureaucrats on the D team would tell them. This advantage may hurt them in the long run. People can sense society decaying around them. They don’t need the press to tell them about murders or expanding gangs. Cons and increasingly non-partisan (not necessarily moderates) no longer believes the media. The D team Believes the Media the way they Believe Science. That is to say, they believe the activists pretending to be objective are on their side.

But sides are not solid things and interests are not uniform on the current sides. It probably won’t be much longer until the Hip White Urbanites and Ghetto Blacks start feeling their interests diverge. Last fourth of July season (the year before?) that’s now April through September, urchins were setting of m80 and other serious fireworks at all hours. Co-op boards were sending out letters that people should not call the cops on the urchins because Black Lives Matter. Do you want minority youth shot over fireworks, Ally? That suggests an interesting hypothesis. The rich and/or hip city whites went so all out on Black Lives Matter because they did not want blacks to abandon the coalition.

Killing homicide reports might keep the sort of blacks who vote from thinking things improved under Trump, so… I’m not saying they vote Republican. A few disaffected votes lost does not matter for local elections, but the D team needs those blacks to vote in Presidential elections. Well, they used to. Today? They just cheat. If Trump is permanently vanquished, the Republicans might stop them from cheating. If Trump runs in 2024 and has a shot at winning, they might have to cheat again. With the practice from two elections, the R’s might not be able to stop them. Going public would mean that, yes, Trump was likely cheated out of office, which means populism can win. Whether the Republican Party can re-align is unclear. They showed no signs under Trump.

Republicans are very unpopular with the urbanites because Republicans are the party of the whites who did not go to college, a group of people who were put through the wringer to get into the best college they could will probably always despise. Hip urbanites sick of urban decay and the remaining white ethnics will never be able to get a Giuliani elected again. That means that if they want hard on crime policies again, they would have to do it through the local Democratic machine, which might not even be possible, given the entrenched interests. Could urban democrats split into two parties? When I lived in Southampton, there was a local political party that won local elections. They never ran, or at least never succeeded in winning a Congressional race.

  10. This is the work of Eric Holder and company. They want the world to be more ignorant. Ignorance about murder can only result in more murder. I assume they want more murder. What kind of people are these to be pro-ignorance and pro-murder? We’re seeing more of their handiwork now with Chesa Boudin, the pro-crime, pro-murder DA of San Francisco.

  11. Black crime is like Freddy Krueger: It draws its strength from White/Asian/Hispanic/Jewish fear.

If these people could be prevented from noticing and talking about black crime, then it would simply vanish!

  12. Black criminality explains too much, and the Regime is rather clear that it wants the proliferation of open ended explanations of ghosts haunting “systems” and sabotaging blacks with racism (these ghosts are possibly housed inside statutes of Robert E. Lee in their off hours).

If “white privilege” consists to a large degree of not having committed serious felonies, it’s not much of a privilege, is it?

“Is There a Genetic Link to Being an Extremely Good Boy?”

In 2019, researchers at four universities in the United States analyzed genetic information and behavior logs for more than 14,000 dogs from 101 breeds. They found some genes that contributed to 60 to 70 percent of variation among breeds for traits such as aggressiveness toward strangers or trainability, but no gene turned out to be solely responsible for any of them. This suggests that the behavioral patterns seen in dogs are an interplay of many genes and environmental influences.

Even in the pre-diverse UK there were behavioural differences between English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh human breeds, the most striking being that the per-capita murder rate in Scotland was twice that of England and Wales the last time I looked, admittedly more than ten years ago.

I can totally believe that a dog’s personality is a complex interplay of genes, but where do they get environment? Yes, beating a dog will affect his behavior. But genes will still determine how he reacts to it.

I also tend to doubt that environment contributes much to the personality differences in dogs owned by readers of Wired magazine.

Environment totally influences behavior. My dog was really stressed by being left alone when no one was home. He would get things off the kitchen counter. When he had his people around, he never did that. For humans, people behave differently in, say, prison than they do out of it, but different people once sent to prison act in ways dictated by their personalities, which are mostly genetic.

I do recall about reading about some genetic variants that were associated with crime/mental illness in children who were raised badly, but were associated with better success/mental health than their peers, but a quick googling did turn up the article I read a few years ago.

This man was arrested on 18 September 2014, 10 days after the murder. They had DNA evidence. His DNA profile was on file because he'd had multiple tours through components of the criminal justice system between 2006 and 2014. It took the idiot Florida court system seven years to bring him to trial.

What the foreman did was in open court refuse to confirm her vote on the jury verdict because she could not countenance what the 9 people on the jury with passable judgment did to accommodate the other 3 people on the jury, which was to convict him of manslaughter. This was a 21 year old career offender who had been getting caught for nine years, until he burgles a woman's house and stabs her to death.

I think you can still go to the city police and county crime statistics. County probably won’t tell you much especially if there’s a big city like Chicago, Atlanta St Louis in it. Suburban and small town police stats can tell you a lot.

For instance, there’s a small town about 15 miles south of San Francisco that has not had one murder since it was founded in 1769. There are towns north of San Francisco in Marin county like that too. East of San Francisco Oakland Pittsburgh Richmond and a convenient subway system the Black Plague is spreading.

The best indicator is demographics. Blacks equal the most crime. Or my brothers method 35 years ago. Take a day off work and observe the middle and high school kids coming out of school. The census is a start. But remember lots of blacks and immigrants don’t fill out the census.

Check out kids leaving school. Downtown the mini malls parks library swimming pool shopping centers any gathering place. If there’s a Boys and Girls Club It usually means black thug children whose moms can’t trust them to behave themselves after school. Ride a bus. Is there a big bus or subway commuter station? I knew someone who bought a house near a neighborhood that was going black. He spent an entire 3 day weekend walking and driving around. He concluded the Black Plague would not spread. That did happen. The Black Plague receded Asians and Whites moved in. Could have been the reverse.

Another thing. The nearest school might not be the one you’re kids are assigned to.

Though I do laugh when they class random crazy guys like homeless or black teenagers drawing the odd little swastika as a hate crime worthy of tracking them down. Who knew the boys bathrooms across the world were actually full of hate crimes. They literally post them between tweets showing brutal assaults.

Needless to say the media will never address the impacts of Asian and Hasidim in gentrification or ethnic displacement of blacks in NYC that fuels this hatred. You just see the few crazy ones who act out in terms of this ethnic conflict but the core of the conflict is something a far larger proportion of the population is conscious of; this activity is territory marking.

This suggests that the behavioral patterns seen in dogs are an interplay of many genes and environmental influences.

Like most Western armies, they are being geared up to oppress the natives of the country, should they get ideas about it being their country, not just someplace where landlords extract rent and capitalists have their companies.

It’s hard to believe the Irish fought against the British for so long, won their independence, and promptly handed their nation to sundry third worlders who decided the Irish could nation-build better than they could, because racism.

Just like “our” army is being geared up by Milley Cyrus to fight racism, sexism, and homophobia by any means necessary.

One interested in noticing might notice that the officer core is extremely well “educated.” Not only at the service academies, but at regular universities. An officer who gets a graduate degree in whatever non-STEM field gets exposed to wokies and Jewbacca just like any other student. Foucault with all his dominance and power interests, and “who is saying what,” “by what authority,” and “who benefits” must seem like God’s honest truth to military men. With that foot in the door...

The military is desperately looking for some way to claim legitimate authority over non-whites who think meritocracy is racism. So far all they’ve got is “we should be in charge because “we recognize our internalized, and unconscious, and institutional racism.” “OK, but why should you be in charge of this system instead of my brand of minority?” Woke might be a reason for minorities to prefer progs in charge over cons or normies. Well, prefer it as long as some other minority is getting too many goodies. This seems to be happening with hispanix over Black Lives Mattering. Normie cons are all, “hispanix are seeing the importance of normieconism, which is lowering taxes on capital.” No dude. Too many goodies are flowing to blax instead of hispanix. In a multiethnic democracy, people vote their race, not abstract principles, or even interests.

  33. Gee, remember when the DOJ dumped John Lott when Biden was going to take power?

John Lott, a controversial pro-gun researcher who was hired last fall as a senior advisor for research and statistics at the Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs, left the position this week.

Lott’s departure was revealed in a January 16 email sent by the Crime Prevention Research Center, a nonprofit he founded that publishes research papers and articles with a pro-gun bent. The email, from Nikki Goeser, CPRC’s executive director, claims that Lott’s hiring “generated more opposition than almost any other Trump appointment,” and that “gun control activists also launched a fierce email and telephone campaign demanding Lott’s firing.” Lott will return to the CPRC as its president.

John Lott has a mysterious new federal job that may allow him to shape the crime data that is released to the public.

As The Trace reported in December, gun violence researchers were alarmed by Lott’s appointment to the DOJ, and the possibility that he could influence the release of firearms data. A trained economist, Lott rose to prominence after the 1998 publication of his book More Guns, Less Crime, which argued that the proliferation of civilian-owned firearms deters violence. Respected academics have repeatedly discredited Lott’s work.

Lott’s work during his short stint at the DOJ still remains something of a mystery. But documents provided in response to a Freedom of Information Act request submitted by The Trace provide a glimpse. In October, Lott was slated to attend a meeting about the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) — a system he’s derided in the past. In 2018 he pushed the false narrative that NICS improperly blocked gun sales to “millions of law-abiding citizens” simply because they have names and birthdates that are the same as or similar to someone disqualified from possessing firearms.

News Outlets Turn a Blind Eye on The Trace’s Anti-Gun Bent
    By John R. Lott Jr.

NPR, Politico, Time, and Scientific American are unlikely ever to pay an NRA employee to write news articles about gun control. But they have no problem hiring people who work for The Trace, a Michael Bloomberg-funded gun control organization. Even in the very hypothetical case that these publications did use an NRA-influenced article, they would undoubtedly include a disclaimer warning readers of the possible bias.

The Trace, which has made a business out of attacking people who have received money from gun rights organizations, doesn’t receive the same scrutiny from the rest of the media. Instead, news outlets hide or ignore The Trace’s financial ties to Bloomberg. NPR describes it as “an independent, nonprofit journalism organization dedicated to covering issues related to guns in America.” When I pointed out to a senior editor at Scientific American that contributing editor Melinda Wenner Moyer is also a regular paid writer for The Trace, he insisted that none of his staff had a conflict of interest and that The Trace was a nonprofit newsroom.

The city of St Louis Mo is located in St Louis county Mo. it’s a high crime black run city. Oakland Ca, a high crime black city is located in Alameda county Ca.

Obviously the sheriff’s crime statistics will be full of the black city’s crime statistics. There’s a tiny little unknown town surrounded by Oakland in Alameda county Ca that has virtually no crime. It’s Piedmont. There were other virtually crime free towns in Alameda County Ca. But the. BART subway system gives criminals easy access to all the towns. I’m sure there are towns in Cook county Illinois, Fulton and De Kalb county Ga and St Louis county Mo. that have little or no crime.

But the big crime ridden city has very high crime which makes the entire county look high crime.

So if you’re looking at crime statistics a big black city makes the entire county look bad. Crime statistics in the individual towns are a better measurement of crime. Plus distance from the black criminal city, public transit

Discredited Gun Researcher’s Justice Department Post Raises Alarms About Future of Crime Statistics

John Lott, a controversial pro-gun researcher, is working in an advisory capacity at the Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs. The appointment has alarmed gun violence researchers, who fear Lott may manipulate or withhold federal data in order to support his agenda.

The Office of Justice Programs conducts research into violent crime and provides billions in grants to local, state, and federal authorities to implement crime-prevention strategies, and also funds research on firearm violence and prevention. “Lott could have been hired, in part, to disrupt that research, in whatever ways the federal agency can do,” Wintemute said. He said he fears that Lott may block the release of gun violence data to researchers and academics, including FBI crime data. In the months after Trump took office, thousands of web pages containing information about climate change from federal websites, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of Energy, were removed or buried. “There’s no reason to think the administration wouldn’t do the same here,” Wintemute said.

“I think it’s a fairly safe assumption at this stage in the Trump administration that [Lott] was brought in for ideological purposes,” said Daniel Webster, the director of the Center for Gun Policy and Research at Johns Hopkins University. That prospect concerns him. “I’ve seen him in different venues literally start making stuff up,” Webster said. “What can he do in this lame-duck phase that could be harmful?”

Tannyr Watkins, a spokesperson at the Bureau of Justice Statistics, a division of OJP, told The Trace that Lott “has been appointed Senior Advisor for Research and Statistics at the Office of Justice Programs” but did not respond to follow-up questions, including some regarding who appointed him or what the nature of his work is. Advisor roles are typically appointed, and do not usually come with civil service protections. A researcher at the OJP, who asked not to be named, told us that Lott almost certainly has extensive access to crime and firearms statistics, and would probably be able to influence any possible suppression of such data.

John Donohue, a gun researcher at Stanford Law School who has scrutinized Lott’s good-guy-with-a-gun assertions, said that simply giving Lott access to a trove of federal crime data may be problematic, as it “may allow him to spin more tales. Anyone who runs a crime institute where Ted Nugent is a member of the board, you get a sense that this is not an organization that is really interested in true science, but is rather trying to tell a story to match a political agenda.” (Nugent, a longtime NRA board member known for inflammatory statements directed toward Latinos and Jewish people, served on the Crime Prevention Research Center’s board of directors until 2018.) “So in that sense, any power that John has to steer funds and data in a certain direction is likely to be harmful to the public interest.”

News Outlets Turn a Blind Eye on The Trace's Anti-Gun Bent
    By John R.

One fully-protected Twitter account with similar content is the official NYPD hate crimes Twitter. Almost all the content of it is black on Asian/Hasidic violence. Though I would love to see the NYPD hate crimes Twitter suspended for hateful content.

    https://twitter.com/NYPDHateCrimes

    Replies: @Alden, @AndrewR, @HammerJack

Almost all of the crimes reported on “NYPD Hate” are black-on-asian and black-on-hasidic. Because if they reported black-on-white crime they’d be shut down by general acclamation. Or Twitter’s servers would suffer a meltdown, whichever came first.

    Replies: @Polistra, @Rob

With that foot in the door…

"Is There a Genetic Link to Being an Extremely Good Boy?"

Same answer for crime, schools, infant mortality, drug use, etc. etc. We lag behind Europe because of Diversity. Leftists have stopped pointing to Europe now that Diversity started ruining Europe

I wouldn't, because I don't live in a high-crime slum and my risk of being personally murdered is likely to be lower than being hit by lightning.

Further, nobody wants to give me responsibility for fixing the problem, so it's fully not my business. In any case, discontinuing the report tells me they have something to hide. It's a binary situation, so it's very easy to work out what they need to hide.

I have never been the victim of physical violence. Nobody I know has ever been the victim of criminal violence. You have to spread out pretty far to even find someone who was beat up at school. If it weren't for newspapers, I may well think murder is a myth that doesn't genuinely occur.

His DNA profile was on file because he’d had multiple tours through components of the criminal justice system between 2006 and 2014.

This was a 21 year old career offender who had been getting caught for nine years, until he burgles a woman’s house and stabs her to death.
