Voters in Britain’s version of the Oscars will have to take unconscious bias training, and there will be a quota for women in the first round of voting for best director.

Sept. 24, 2020LONDON — The world’s major movie awards are trying to put a stop to the all-white, all-male shortlists their voting members frequently draw up….
Starting with the awards in 2021, all 6,700 voting members of BAFTA will have to undergo unconscious bias training before casting any ballots.
… For best director, for example, half of the spots on the 20-person longlist will go to women. For the acting prizes, the longlist will be selected by a hybrid of member votes and jury selection, before the nominees and the winner are determined by the membership in the following rounds.
… Actors will also only be allowed to be longlisted once in each acting category to prevent a recurrence of this year’s events, when Margot Robbie was nominated twice for the best supporting actress award, and no people of color were.
You might almost believe that Margot Robbie represents an unusual combination of beauty and acting talent that makes her the most sought-after actress by the best directors at the current moment, but, of course, it’s really just her White Privilege.
… “This is a watershed moment,” Krishnendu Majumdar, BAFTA’s chair, said on Thursday, in a news release announcing the changes. “This creative renewal is not just about changes to the awards,” he added. “This is a reappraisal of our values.”
I.e., we now value race and sex over performance.

It’s operating as a Netflix production (Which also means you’re not allowed to not have no diversity in historical drama and means it’s an American production not British) but the new ‘Enola Holmes’ (About Holmes arrogant haughty little sister) contains Victorian finishing schools with Chinese and black girls and a significant character who is a black woman who runs a Dojo in London where she learns how to fight. (Because otherwise her prowess might be too unrealistic and bring you out of the story) As well as a half Pakistani half Kenyan man playing a gentlemen. (Played by Adeel Akhtar who may be one of the ugliest men to ever live. It’s the ptosis I think that really makes me look decrepit, he’s only 40, would have been 39 when filming and early to mid 30s in most pictures of him)

What a joke Britain has become. They may have won two wars against the Germans, but they sure lost the peace.

I’m kind of thinking that there may be a precipitous drop in participation in the voting. I mean, it’s an anonymous, unpaid, voluntary thing, and people do it mostly for the momentary ego boost it gives them, knowing that they are one of the inner circle. It’s not going to take much to counterbalance that, and having to sit through a Zoom meeting with a hectoring lesbian black indoctrinix is enough to cause most people to say, chuck it!

They’ve just assured that no Blacks will gain real status from winning.
Why not just have Black awards? This is the same exact thing under a different name.
The status gained for Whites might now actually increase, given that the award will be rarer for them. As it was prior for Blacks, and therefore offered maximum status.
That might be one of the fatal social mistakes for some groups. They believe that the shine, the badge, and the bumper sticker is worth more than the symbol. Which is why wealthy Blacks buy diamonds to wear in strange ways and truly high status Whites are more apt to buy modest AWD vehicles.
In the US, the NAACP holds an annual Image Awards show for black entertainers. It’s a nice thing and is usually on TV somewhere.
The blacks who get all upset over blacks not winning enough Oscars are upscale blacks who don’t really like Tyler Perry-type stuff for the black masses, they like white culture more, but they want blacks to win all the awards for white culture.

Blacks are about 2% of the population of Britain and are already overrepresented several thousand times over in ‘British’ film and television, especially compared to, say, the native working class living in places that no-one even pretends to care about like Bolton or Thanet.

Margot Robbie is more handsome than pretty which is a common trait among Anglo Saxon actresses.
Can we just get on with it have “White”–excuse me “white”–awards:
white BAFTAs, white Oscars, white Grammys, white Tonys, Miss white America, … heck throw in a wFL, wBA as well.
We’ve had black awards, black beauty pageants for years. Likewise we have had separate music genre awards–ex. Country.
Whites are headed to minority status in our nations. We have separate tastes and interests. I know i’m less and less interested in even hearing about blacks–much less seeing or listening to their shuck and jive or tedious lectures. Granted i’m not the target audience for an award show. (I’ve never sat through one and I probably haven’t seen more than a minute or two of one since maybe an Oscar telecast in 1970-something.) But i think more and more white people would be perfectly happy to watch, or just hear about the genre they actually care about–white people’s stuff.
Listen carefully and you might hear Cliff mutter “this one is for the Derb.”
