From the New York Daily News:

Bloomberg caught on video calling transgender people ‘it,’ suggesting LGBTQ rights isn’t ‘a winning formula’ for 2020 election

By CHRIS SOMMERFELDT
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS |
FEB 18, 2020 | 7:57 PM

Michael Bloomberg’s past keeps haunting him — even his very recent past.

The wealthy White House wannabe referred to transgender people as “he, she or it” last spring and suggested Democratic presidential candidates shouldn’t spend time on the campaign trail talking about the rights of “some guy in a dress,” claiming it’s “not a winning formula,” a newly unearthed video reveals.

Bloomberg made the eyebrow-raising remarks during an appearance at a forum in Manhattan hosted by the Bermuda Business Development Agency on March 21, 2019, a video from the event posted to YouTube shows. BuzzFeed News first reported the video.

“If you go to the middle of the country … (and) your conversation during a presidential election is about some guy wearing a dress and whether he, she, or it can go to the locker room with their daughter, that’s not a winning formula for most people,” the billionaire ex-mayor says in the video. “They care about health care, they care about education, they care about safety, and all of those kinds of things.”

Bloomberg goes on to say in the video that Democrats vying for the presidential nomination should avoid talking about transgender people on the stump altogether, suggesting Trump may have been elected in part because of such conversations.

“You can understand where somebody like Trump comes from,” Bloomberg said. “You can understand when you look at the Democratic Party, they are so far left that two years ago there was nobody on their side who would take these positions, and today virtually all the candidates for president of the Democratic Party are so progressive. I don’t know what progressive means.”

Aside from the gun and immigration issues, he almost sounds like a better Republican presidential candidate than Trump. No Republican official gets away with talking this way.

Tentative prediction: we’re going to find out that #wokeness was never anything more than a card for Democrats to play, one they’ll readily cash in for Bloomie’s billions.

Also, to put things in perspective: all of Bloomberg’s wealth amounts to the annual GDP of Libya. It will be interesting to see how that fares against the incumbent’s bully pulpit in a strong economy.

Bloomberg’s entry to the race makes you realize just how dreary the 2020 Dem crop is. Easy to picture Poca Bernie and Joe all delivering long winded meandering complaints at open-mic nite at a New England city council meeting. That was before the three kinda-black off-brand-Obama bores all dropped out.

Latest state polls: Bloomberg is leading FL and OK, tied for 1st with Bernie in VA and NC, down by only 1 in NJ.

PredictIt hasn’t much reacted to Mike’s poll surge. Bernie and Mike have been sitting around 45 and 31 for a good week.

  12. Bloomberg says, “when you look at the Democratic Party, they are so far left…” He said this in regards to so-called ‘transgender’ issues.

We are at a point where I am sincerely struggling to understand what exactly is meant politically by the terms “left” and “right”. (I strongly suspect that in strict Austinite/Wittgenstein terms, these words are functionally meaningless.)

I used to have a working definition as a teenager that Left and Right, at least outside of the Communist world, referred to labor/capital relations, and in geopolitical terms, how best to handle the U.S./USSR global polarization scenario. But there was of course the contradiction that you could be a good Union man (viz, to the Left with respect to Capital) but also be rigidly anti-Soviet, so already the contradictions were in full bloom.

But now the “Left” has nothing to do with either labor or capital, with neither the “People” or the “Man,” seems actively to despise the “People,” (at least the actual American ones) and seems to concern itself with transgender people (a rather rare minority), a worry over the well-being of Third World people who do not live here, a generalized preference for the welfare of people who do not live in America as against people who DO actually live in America, and a pronounced unwillingness to, well, leave America. The Right seems to stand for nothing more than quietly suggesting some of these demands are poorly thought out.

Enlighten me, somebody, please. What do these terms “Left” and “Right” actually mean these days?

  13. @RichardTaylor

He certainly seems to be setting up to be a strong challenger to Trump. If he refuses to apologise and picks a fight with his own loonies he’ll be in a powerful position come November. I assume the liberal media will see they have no choice but to swing behind him if they want Trump out.

  14. I said it before: First debate with Trump, Bloomberg points his finger at him, says,”Die Boomer!” and most people born after 1960 vote for mini-Mike.

  15. Marty T says:

Tomorrow’s debate will be quite a show. Bloomberg’s quotes, if he were to own them, would probably make him better than Trump. But he’s gonna be absolutely ambushed tomorrow. I hope Mini Mike is ready.

  16. The “Bloomberg said [something that violates SJW talking points]” is simply a set of trial balloons.

Think of it as a form of A/B test: the people who actually run the (D) side of US politics will be keenly watching video of people in focus groups, nodding as they see MicroMikeberg saying shit that is ostensibly outside the Overton Window for pukkha (D) candidates.

    They’re recalibrating.

They thought there was political hay to be made when they pretended to lose their fucking minds when #OrangeManBad said “Bullshit” in the hallowed halls… and it made them look priggish, retarded, old and stupid.

For anyone with a lick of history, it was silly because they were forgetting that this was (at least symbolically) near-enough to where one guy beat another guy half to death (the good old ‘Brooks–Sumner Affair‘).

OK, so Sumner got his abolitionist, slave-lovin’ ass whupped in the Senate, and #OrangeManBad said “Bullshit” in East Room of the White House: you know what I mean.

Saying “Bullshit” in your tax-funded palace is small beer next to some dude getting their fucking head stove, in the place where government business takes place. (Especially since Sumner was on the right side of history)

For those without a lick of history, getting ‘triggered’ when a grown-ass man says “Bullshit” is something you would expect from some religious-40something-female-primary-school-teacher’s spinster aunt from Nebraska. Or (so they thought) a 20-something pseudo-SJW.

Turns out that SJWs are as foul mouthed as the rest of humanity, and didn’t give a fuck.

Both parties are (slowly) wising up: the meat of the voter distribution is much closer to 4chan /pol/ than it is to Tucker Carlson or Anderson Cooper or freshman undergraduates in Gender Studies.

Hence: the need to recalibrate – to run an A/B test to see if one of the vapid sacks of human shit gets more + feedback than MicroMikeberg saying something ‘intersectionally’ hors jeu.

I think their early focus groups showed “nods” for MicroMikey, and yawns for all the sacks of shit. So they have had to trawl up harsher archival shit from MicroMikey, in order to find the point at which the nodding stops.

    I’m more than half-drunk now.

OT, on the sad case of the Boy Scouts filing for bankruptcy:

Tim Kosnoff, a left-wing activist, is the one behind the bankruptcy of the Boy Scouts.

From a 2019 Wash Post article by Kayla Epstein:

This year, Kosnoff, in collaboration with the Eisenberg Rothweiler law firm and San Diego attorney Andrew Van Arsdale, began running television ads and launched a website…where [Boy Scouts] victims could contact the lawyers with their stories.

In the media in the past 24 hours, this same Kosnoff is being quoted gloating about the bankruptcy and calling for the final and permanent end of Scouting in United States.

    NY Times, Feb. 18:

Tim Kosnoff, a lawyer for an Abused in Scouting group that now has close to 2,000 clients, said that while he’s open to hearing how the organization intends to reform itself, he finds it “difficult to impossible” to envision the Boy Scouts finding a way to continue to operate […]”

The fact that so many supposedly “leftist” pundits support him over Trump, who is clearly more sympathetic to the American worker, shows what an utter con job the new left pulled on voters over the last generation.

*Exactly* what Trump should run on, if he can. Make Bloomberg the candidate of Bush II as much as he’s the candidate of Obama. Who cares what Bloomberg thinks about transgender people, for Chrissakes? That’s not what people will vote on.

You’d think it’d be impossible given that he decided to govern as Jeb Bush with nativist tendencies, but a Bloomberg nomination might just make it an option again. 31. @Steve Sailer

Here is the key to a potential Bloomberg victory (are you listening, Trump interns?)

The Iron Law of American presidential politics is this: (listen VERY carefully, Trumpsters)…..

Bugs Bunny ALWAYS defeats Elmer Fudd.

Donald Trump defeated the numerically and media-massaged superiority of Hillary Clinton, because he was able to position himself as the wily, wascally wabbit, the underdog Americans are programmed to cheer for, against the ridiculously stilted Elmer Fudd stiff presented by the vile shrike Hillary, the Sea-Hag incarnate.

Trump will not enjoy the Bugs Bunny advantage this time around, because all his blowhard blustering, and shouting and tweeting and fuming, makes him into the stiff this time around.

Compared with this nonstop walking baby-tantrum, all Bloomberg has to do is to stand there very still, chomp his carrot, sound calm and reasonable, and ask, “What’s up, doc?”

Trump will destroy himself on impact, unless he takes notice.

    Watch and learn.

Bloomberg & Trump or vice versa. The VP could travel around to stadium rallies making speeches to enrage the liberal media.

Brought to you by the same Hollywood that now champions their cause. On the plus side, a young Nancy Allen most definitely had it going on.

  39. @Dave Pinsen

the loves-Bernie group will stay home if Bloomberg gets the nomination.

We shouldn’t assume this. Right now, Bloomberg is operating a particular strategy. He wants to win the Dem primary on the back of normie Dems. This is his market. He can’t compete with Bernie for Bernie people while Bernie is around.

If he locks the nomination and he wants to bring Bernie people back onboard, he will make explicit plays to get their support.

And a lot of them will probably go for it. AOC will endorse Bloomberg if he gets the nomination, bet that.

Right now the Dem establishment doesn’t like Bloomberg because he’s not part of their normal patronage networks. That’s the entire reason. Many media types are signaling to maintain credibility with their audience but they don’t really care. Unlike Trump, Bloomberg isn’t running against the dem establishment and he isnt making fools of them. So dem anti-Bloomberg sentiment will mostly disappear if he wins because these insider people have nowhere else to go. They will worm their way into his new network. And he’s fine with that because he also has nothing against these people. There will not be “never Bloomberg” in October 2020.

The exceptions might be working class Dems who voted for Trump but support Bernie. I’ve never met one and the Democrats have shown no interest in trying to get their votes back since there are so few. By midsummer, any mainstream-or-vanguard news venue you may care to sample will simply be different doors all leading to an identical echo chamber.

Now, as no one cashing a Ministry of Truth paycheck can afford to question the Official Version of Events – in this case, the nature of reality – and, as Vox Day so notably phrased it, SJWs always double down, we won’t have to wait until after the election to read one abusive harangue after another, all of them snarling “white people suck”…..regardless of how bad an idea such a display would be weeks before the election, look for the deluge of “America, you belong dead!” to begin buckling the dam by Labor Day.

In any other year, it might be unthinkable; in 2020, it will be unavoidable. As unavoidable as Conservatism, Inc tying it all to the “sharp rise in anti-Semitism”, lest the political chaos in our country potentially threaten the flow of donor money…

Bloomberg’s marketing campaign running on black radio is brilliant. Not a lot of Bloomberg speaking, they feature authentic sounding older working class NYC blacks praising the job he did as mayor with the education system.

To those of us in the real world the remarks are “eye-brow raising” only to the extent that they show a glimmer of sanity from the malignant dwarf.

Has anyone ever noticed that it is only white men who have problems with things?

And that’s why White men are the only ones to fix things and make the world a better place,

Blacks would be big Trump supporters if he was still a democrat….They would pull all their support from Bloomberg if we was announces a run as an Republican.

Bloomberg has been spreading millions of dollars around to Black churches and Black neighborhoods to gain support among the blacks. It helped to have Obama praising Trump in all the Bloomberg ads on TV. The ads make it appear that Obama is backing Bloomberg.

  73. @Digressed Dufresne

Also why is most crime and mass murder committed by white men?

…who are subsequently honored on coins and banknotes? You are certainly right about that!

    Correct.

I’ve seen several commenters here and other places claim that Woke will be out of fashion by November 2020.

Those commenters couldn’t be more wrong.

    These two in Connecticut are:

Two biological males who identify as females have crushed the field in CT high school track. Now three girls are fighting back with a lawsuit.

This is being portrayed as an issue about sex, and rightly so, but note that the white girls are being left in the dust by the black “girls”.

How does race fit into the analysis here, not politically but biologically?

My favorite aspect of this whole story is the fact that, in this quatercentenary year in Plymouth, one of the three plaintiffs has a Mayflower surname.

Aside from the gun and immigration issues, he almost sounds like a better Republican presidential candidate than Trump.

    Guns, immigration, and environmental issues.

Just a hunch: this will be one of those class action lawsuits where the victims who come forward each receive a cash settlement of maybe $12.75, while the team of legal vultures (Mr. Kosnoff and his friends) split a jackpot of maybe $72 million.

There’s a lot to that, GT. Bloomberg can demolish Trump in debate simply by acting like a grown-up.

Nancy’s lovable dear old dad would soon marry Mia Farrow, born almost five years after Little Nancy. Dean was definitely not messing with Frank’s kid, though. He was like an uncle to her.

Dino got a lot of tail in those ring-a-ding-ding years but he was smart and decent about it. He was a class act all the way.

The quintessential Dean Martin comes across well in two of his best film performances, with Jackie Bisset in the original Airport and in the unreleased Something’s Got To Give with Marilyn Monroe.

We are at a point where I am sincerely struggling to understand what exactly is meant politically by the terms “left” and “right”.

    Right: order, stability

Left: movement, aggression, (release of) entropy

And don’t overlook the more recent (though less severe) beating Sen. Ben Tillman (D.S.C) gave Sen. John McLaurin (D.S.C.) in 1902 for selling out to Republican imperialism.

The actual scouting in Boy Scouts is pretty much run entirely at the local (troop) level. There is a bunch of bureaucracy but they don’t really do much. Its fairly unusual for there to be a scoutmaster that isn’t a parent of one of the scouts. Its not like BSA sends you gay scoutmasters.

  85. Dissident says:
    @Hapalong Cassidy

The actual scouting in Boy Scouts is pretty much run entirely at the local (troop) level.

The fact remains that in 2013 the Boy Scouts of America bent over for the sodomite lobby when they (BSA) overturned their longtime policy of not allowing openly Gay scouts*. That step alone implicitly legitimized and normalized behaviors, identities and ideologies that are abnormal and objectively unwholesome. From there, it was only downhill. Next came the welcoming of openly Gay scout leaders, then “transgender” boys, and finally out-and-out girls. Can one continue, in good conscience, to affiliate with an organization once it has sanctioned such depravity?

(*At which point, I began to suggest that BSA might as well stand for Buggery Scouts of America.)
