From the New York Times news section today:

Footage Reveals New Details in Tourist Melee at N.Y.C. Restaurant

Three Black women from Texas were arrested, but a lawyer for one called it “mutual combat” after they were called a racial slur.

C’mon, folks, these aren’t Texas tourists anymore, they are now Black women so, obviously, they must be the victims. Vaccines are holy, but Black women are sacred.

By Kimiko de Freytas-Tamura
Sept. 18, 2021

New information emerged on Saturday about a brawl outside a popular Italian restaurant in Manhattan that raises questions about initial accounts of the altercation, in which the police said they arrested three women from Texas after they attacked a hostess who had asked them to provide proof of their vaccination status.

In a statement on Thursday, the police said that they had responded to an assault in front of Carmine’s on the Upper West Side of Manhattan involving a 24-year-old hostess, who told them that she got into a dispute with three women after she requested to see their Covid-19 vaccination cards. The three women were charged with assault and criminal mischief.

But on Saturday, lawyers for both Carmine’s and the women said that the three women had, in fact, provided documentation of Covid vaccinations. The altercation began after two men who joined their party several minutes later were unable to provide proof, the lawyers for both sides said.

Security camera footage reviewed by The New York Times shows three women, who were with several other people, being ushered into the restaurant after showing documentation near the entrance. Several minutes later, three men arrive to join the group, but only one of the three shows a vaccination card, lawyers for both sides said. A short time later, after the three women, who are Black, have joined the men outside, the fight breaks out.

Justin Moore, a lawyer who represents one of the women, Kaeita Nkeenge Rankin, said that the hostess used a racial slur and spoke condescendingly to the patrons, suggesting that their vaccination cards were fake. He also said the Texas women claim that the hostess assaulted them.

Typically, restaurants give the hostess job of escorting customers to their table to a willowy pretty girl who isn’t quite strong enough to be a waitress. Hostesses are notorious for single-handedly assaulting parties of six blacks.

“The hostess begins spouting out derogatory comments, and speaking with two of the women; they claim that the N-word is being spewed out” Mr. Moore said in an interview. “They also heard the hostess say, ‘Yeah, you guys can leave my restaurant,’ or something very aggressive like that. When Dr. Rankin

You inferiors must speak respectfully to Dr. Rankin.

I wonder what Dr. Rankin is a doctor of?

hears that, she turns around and addresses the hostess. She tells her: ‘This isn’t your restaurant. You’re just a staff member here. Please address us with respect.’”

He called the altercation “mutual combat.”

Perhaps it was a racial reckoning?

The restaurant denied the allegations that racism played a role in the conflict. …

Amid the dueling accounts, a Black Lives Matter activist said his group planned to demonstrate outside Carmine’s on Monday to protest the treatment of Black patrons. “Restaurants are using vaccine mandates to enforce their racist beliefs and excluding Black patrons,” said Hawk Newsome, the co-founder and chairman of Black Lives Matter Greater New York.

… In the Thursday statement, the police said the three women had struck the hostess, who has not been identified, “multiple times with closed fists.” It also said that the hostess had sustained “bruises and scratches to her face, chest and arm.” She is resting at home, a representative for the restaurant said.

The footage reviewed by The Times does not include sound, but it suggests tension was already brewing between the hostess and the patrons before the melee began.

That usually is the way it works.

In the footage, after the two men were denied entry, a server, wearing a white apron, comes out and talks to the hostess, making hand gestures as if explaining something. Then, footage shows the party of six leaving the restaurant. The hostess leans forward and says something, and the server pulls her back with her arms around her shoulder and gives it a tap, possibly to prevent her from engaging with them.

One of the women, Dr. Rankin, says something to the hostess, pointing a finger at her before getting into what appears to be a verbal dispute with other restaurant staff members, shaking her head. She and the others are led away by another employee, who is Black. Moments later, the party is led back inside the restaurant by its manager. The party crosses paths with the hostess who exits the restaurant.

Footage from inside the hallway shows the hostess brushing past the women as she exits, at which point the women appear to do a double take before pursuing her out the door. It is not clear what occurred in that moment or what might have motivated them to follow her.

Footage from outside the restaurant shows the hostess coming out. Seconds later, one of the patrons, who is wearing glasses, goes up to her from behind, speaks into her ear before shoving her and pulling at her collar. The hostess pushes back and claws back while others try to break them apart.

The melee moves off camera, and one of the attackers is hauled away by one of the servers and one of the men who wasn’t allowed in, while staff pull the hostess away, trying to calm her down.

  2. Mutual combat is a term usually reserved for gang violence or known criminals going toe to toe with one another, not petite restaurant hostesses and the patrons they are tasked with seating when things turn into a worldstarhiphop moment.

As usual when sacred members of our society go feral the excuse is always the handy reason that racial slurs were uttered. At this point audio evidence or it didn’t happen.

I was under the impression that job went to people who weren’t old enough to serve drinks, but I guess teenage jobs aren’t a thing anymore.

I’ve told this anecdote before, but I’ll tell it again. I never worked in any restaurants (retail instead), but I had a sister who was a hostess at a chain restaurant, and a brother (not small or someone who would have any difficulty carrying trays) who followed in her footsteps. The waiters hated when the host assigned them tables of black customers because they tipped less, and one waiter accused my brother of deliberately assigning him to such tables. In response, my brother then assigned him to exactly that every chance he could. The waiter then blew up at him and got fired.

  21. Minoritarianism has a particularly nasty feature in that it specifically destroys simple freedom of association, and empowers busy-body super-state to go out bashing everyone–in theory everyone, in practice the majority–on the head to get the “correct” behavior toward minorities.

Historically, we’ve had more or less one-peopleish nation states–which can be pretty pleasant.

Or we’ve had empires with “diversity”, where the guiding principle is “pay your taxes and don’t make trouble–or else!”, but the diverse people are otherwise left to associate as they please.

Never before have we had polities where the state goes around and harasses everyone in the society into associating with other diverse peoples and then tediously peers into every interaction for sin.

Its fascinating to me that the term “Karen” which was originally directed at entitled customers being rude or abusive towards service workers is now being used *against* service workers if they happen to be white. Reminds me too of that #RhodesMustFall guy from South Africa who refused to tip a white waitress and gave some appropriately Third Worldist excuse for doing that while his working-class dad was horrified by such behaviour.

  29. As a black man, I’ve had countless incidents with white restaurant hostesses. They will always seat me and my white date next to the bathroom. When I complain, they immediately call me a n****r.

The waiter will always suggest the fried chicken and watermelon, even when it’s not even on the menu!

When I inevitably begin to bolt out of the restaurant after eating, without paying, the waiters and the hostess will become very aggressive, again assaulting me with the N word.

As a black man, I’m sick of this systemically racist treatment and I’m glad I can share my experience here, where readers will understand my pain.

That is what I would call a Modified Early Islamic Dhimmi system. In Early Islam the non-Muslim, the “dhimmi” in exchange for not making any trouble and paying his submission tax (the jizya), gets to live. The Muslim did not have to pay the tax, would receive a payment from the State and could occasionally riot against the dhimmi for insulting Islam. The giant flaw in the system was that anyone could convert to Islam. As they did, revenue declined and expenses went up, necessitating expansion (which eventually stopped). But say no conversion was allowed. That is what I think is being attempted subconsciously.

  34. Everyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows exactly how this went down. Even black waitstaff don’t want to wait on black people. And this is one instance where black women are far worse than black men.

If the hostess called her a dinger, why was her male companion pulling her off the hostess? Because she chimped out, and the black dude did not want to be around if she went full retard. This is one of the reasons the brothers love non-black women. Black women embarrass them with this kind of behavior.

    Recently from Spike Protein:

Spike Lee’s new NYC doc marinates 9/11 & Covid in racial resentment to deliver a tedious, tangled mess of misinformation

I wasn’t granted access to the original version. But having watched the edited, seven-and-a-half-hour, uneven slog of a series that came to a close on Saturday night on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, I can report that if truth and accuracy are of prime concern, then there’s about six-and-a-half more hours that needed to be cut from the series, which abounds with disinformation, misinformation and propaganda, none of which has anything to do with 9/11.

‘NYC Epicenters’ is broken down into four episodes, with the first two episodes focusing on a myriad of more current events and the last two on 9/11 itself. Not surprisingly since this is a “Spike Lee joint,” every topic tackled, and there are a lot of them, is deeply marinated in a manufactured racial resentment.

In episodes one and two the story zigs and zags from Covid in China and New York, to Trump’s birtherism, to Covid’s impact on education and restaurants, to Black Lives Matter, to Trump’s charges of election fraud, to ‘kids in cages’, to black vaccine hesitancy, to January 6 and beyond. Spike’s approach to this dizzying array of topics isn’t chronological, rendering it virtually incomprehensible.

Watching episodes one and two is like a Bataan death march where every few steps Lee shouts the phrase “disproportionately affects black and brown people” into your ear for no discernible or coherent reason.

As the EMTs wheeled the “patient” out of the dining area one of the adult blacks tossed the bill on an adjoining empty table and the group followed the stretcher out the door.

When a waitress arrived at my brother’s table to take his party’s order, he referenced the emergency and remarked to her that there was certainly a lot of excitement in the dining room.

Wow, she is a zebra and not a horse then. I was thinking horses – there are something like 2 million Brazilian-Japanese and you could probably fit all Portuguese-Japanese into one (not very large) room.

Brazil has a large population of Japanese (and mixed race Japanese) who came as immigrants maybe 100+ years ago when Brazil was still a promising country in need of farm labor and Japan was still poor and producing excess peasants. It is the largest Japanese diaspora in the world. After slavery was abolished (in Brazil in 1888, the last place to do so in the West) a lot of places in the Americas needed a new source of cheap plantation labor – the blacks ran off into the mountains. Some of them (Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname) opted for Indians (dot not feather) who now form the largest ethnic groups in those countries but Brazil, Peru and Hawaii ended up with a lot of Japanese.

OTOH, there is no history of significant immigration from Japan to Portugal (or from anywhere to Portugal – it was relatively poor after they lost Brazil and an exporter of humans like most poor countries).

Now that Japan is the richer country, a couple of hundred thousand of Brazilian Japanese got recruited back to Japan to do jobs that Japanese don’t want to do anymore (for cheap). As most here know, the Japanese are not super enthusiastic about immigration like the rest of the developed world but they thought that these folks would be OK because they are racially Japanese. The Japanese have this strange idea that if they let you immigrate to their country you should learn Japanese and conform to Japanese behavioral norms and the Brazilian immigrants, despite being fully (or mostly) Japanese by blood, act more “Brazilian” and come speaking little or no Japanese and have not exactly been welcomed with open arms (by anyone except their employers) for this reason. They are seen by Japanese as another category of “gaijin” (foreigners) rather than being fully accepted as long lost brothers, because in all honesty they ain’t any more that Italian-Americans are Italian. Maybe there are a few threads (of pasta) that remain but after a century a lot of cultural distance develops.

  128. It’s really not white people’s business if asians and blacks can’t get along with each other in America. In fact, it may even be a good thing (for us). Neither racial group is friendly to whites. Ancient white colonial wisdom: if they’re fighting each other, they aren’t fighting us. If there’s hope for the white race in America, it’s in staying out of the stupid, petty violent conflicts that blacks and asians (or blacks and jews; blacks and hispanics, etc) are constantly getting into wherever they happen to live in close proximity to each other. American whites generally know how to treat blacks so as to avoid raising their ire (a skill asian americans have yet to master). Black violence directed at asians has the added benefit of slowing/stopping the formation of an American POC coalition which could present very serious problems to whites if it ever gets off the ground.

No, she shows up in ‘public records searches’ under that name. Various addresses – one a suburb of Houston filled with ranch houses, two others in towns in Mississippi, another in DC. But no LinkedIn.

There’s been a great deal of title inflation in perimedical occupations. In 1900, ‘doctor’ was used for physicians, surgeons, and dentists.

    1. Chiropractors attempted to claim it; chiropractors have more respect now than was the case forty years ago, but they’re still regarded as sketchy.

    2. Osteopaths claimed it successfully, in part by disposing of the bulk of what distinguished osteopaths from medical doctors.

    3. The effort of optometrists to claim it began with the advent of the Doctor of Optometry degree in 1922; the division of labor between eye care professionals is more conventional than functional and differs from country to country.

    4. Podiatrists began to claim the title ca. 1957, and they’re the one sort of peri-medical professional who might actually merit it. (There are only about 10,000 podiatrists in the US, btw).

    5. In the last 40 years we’ve seen the advent of the ‘doctor of physical therapy’, the ‘PharmD’ for pharmacists, the AuD for audiologists, and the distension of the time to obtain credentials pharmacy at any rate (it’s now a six year program, with 90 credits in pharmacy studies required).

    6. And to top it off, we now have the ‘doctor of nursing practice’. It’s been pointed out that nursing does not incorporate a distinct body of knowledge; they learn what physicians and surgeons learn, just less of it. The people who run higher education now have the mentality of the ad men working under contract to Proctor & Gamble.

I couldn’t care less about being forced to mask up in retail stores and restaurants. Most retailers require them where I live. The hypochondriacs feel better when I wear one, then I will humor them to be polite

What I do care about are forced vaccinations.

    We agree there.

I was telling a friend of my that LITERAL forced vaccinations are coming, I said the the only way I will be vaccinated for Covid is if the guy holding the needle gets vaccinated with my steak knife first.
