From the New York Times news section:
Biden Seeks to Define His Presidency by an Early Emphasis on Equity
Only two presidents before him have used their first weeks in office to push for equality with the same force, according to one historian.
The New York Times reporters and, perhaps, Joe Biden, don’t seem to know that “equity” has replaced “equality.”
Please note that “equity” is the term now used to dog-whistle to the woke that you intend “equality of outcome” rather than “equality of opportunity.” Politicians who demand “equity” are demanding, in effect, quotas at the expense of the careers of competent white men and their families.
By Jim Tankersley and Michael D. Shear
Jan. 23, 2021WASHINGTON — In his first days in office, President Biden has devoted more attention to issues of racial equity than any new president since Lyndon B. Johnson, a focus that has cheered civil rights activists and drawn early criticism from conservatives.
In his inauguration speech, the president pledged to defeat “white supremacy,” using a burst of executive orders on Day 1 to declare that “advancing equity, civil rights, racial justice and equal opportunity is the responsibility of the whole of our government.”
He has ordered his coronavirus response team to ensure that vaccines are distributed equitably. His $1.9 trillion recovery plan targets underserved communities by calling for paid leave for women forced out of jobs, unemployment benefits that largely help Black and brown workers, and expanded tax credits for impoverished Americans who are disproportionately nonwhite.
And the new administration is preparing to take sweeping steps in the months ahead to directly address inequity in housing, criminal justice, voting rights, health care, education and economic mobility.
“Racial equity is not a silo in and of itself,” said Cecilia Rouse, Mr. Biden’s nominee to lead his Council of Economic Advisers, who would be the first Black economist to oversee the council if confirmed by the Senate. “It is woven in all of these policy efforts.”
The actions reflect the political coalition backing Mr. Biden, who was lifted by Black voters to his party’s nomination and who won the White House in part on the strength of Black turnout and support from women in the suburbs and elsewhere. They also reflect what historians see as a unique opening for Mr. Biden to directly address issues of inequality — in contrast to President Barack Obama, under whom Mr. Biden served as vice president.
Mr. Obama, the nation’s first Black president, took pains to be seen as a president for “all Americans,” as opposed to Black Americans, said Nicole Hemmer, a Columbia University historian and associate research scholar with the Obama Presidency Oral History project.
“You got less of that overt racial equity language from Barack Obama than you get from Joe Biden,” Ms. Hemmer said. “The challenge to Biden is how he makes clear the universal benefits of focusing on racial and gender equity. He is going to face real pushback on this.”
The benefits of discriminating against white men are universal.
The backlash has already begun. Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, told Fox News that Mr. Biden’s Inaugural Address had attacked Republicans with “thinly veiled innuendo, calling us white supremacists, calling us racists.” The columnist Andrew Sullivan, who writes a Substack newsletter, accused the president of “culture war aggression” in a recent post, saying Mr. Biden’s focus on “equity” would give “named identity groups a specific advantage in treatment by the federal government over other groups.” …
Mr. Obama’s national security adviser, Susan E. Rice, who is leading Mr. Biden’s Domestic Policy Council, is charged with ensuring that the new administration embeds issues of racial equity into everything it does. In an interview, she rejected the idea that doing so is a “zero-sum game” that benefited some groups of Americans at the expense of others.
We’re doing this to white men for their own good. They’ll thank us in the end.
… Mr. Biden made racial and gender equity promises a central theme of his campaign. He nominated a cabinet that has more women and people of color than any president before him, though he drew criticism from the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus for not appointing any Asian-American or Pacific-Islander secretaries.
But he didn’t draw any criticism from the Straight White Protestant Caucus for not nominating a single Straight White Protestant. That’s because there is no Straight White Protestant Caucus. In fact, the very concept of such an entity existing in some alternative timeline universe is intolerable.
The president’s legislative proposals to advance equity include trillions of dollars in new spending on coronavirus relief and, in an ensuing package to be announced next month, infrastructure, all of which are loaded with provisions meant to help Americans who have historically suffered discrimination.
I.e., Americans (and non-Americans) who have not personally suffered discrimination in their own lifetimes.
… Ms. Rouse said the focus would help all Americans, regardless of race or gender, by improving the performance of the economy.
“We maximize growth, we maximize productivity in this country when we maximize all our productive assets,” she said in an interview. “Embedded in that is a recognition that we have a lot of talented people whose skills, whose knowledge, whose innovations and creativity are not being brought to bear to help their country.”
She went on, “We must follow The Science: countless studies show that Blacks and Latinos are absolutely equal in cognitive ability to Asians.”
The president and his top aides describe the broader effort to achieve equity through the government in grand and sweeping terms: a pledge to begin “embedding equity across federal policymaking and rooting out systemic racism and other barriers to opportunity from federal programs and institutions.”
In an executive order he signed in the first hours of his presidency, Mr. Biden directed top officials across the federal government to examine how they could reshape the federal work force to ensure that people of color, the poor, rural residents, the disabled, L.G.B.T.Q. people and religious minorities are not denied opportunity or government benefits.
It also establishes efforts to break down federal data, including economic indicators, “by race, ethnicity, gender, disability, income, veteran status or other key demographic variables” to measure progress on equity goals, a move praised by many economists.
Finally, the FBI will be forced to reveal how Non-Hispanic Whites are the real murder offenders!

Politicians who demand “equity” are demanding, in effect, quotas at the expense of the careers of competent white men and their families.
If this equity thing would extend to traders and investment bankers at Citi and Goldman, lawyers at Paul, Weiss, school principals at the innumerable charter schools dotting, say, Park Slope Brooklyn,/West Side of Manhattan, students attending such schools, admittees to the Ivies, to executives in the vp slots and above at Google/Facebook, etc …I would be all for it. I want my enemies to be hurt. But most likely this equity will suss out some minding-it’s-own business steamfitters union in Sacramento California or Dayton Ohio, piqued that intelligent white proles like doing that stuff, are good at it and enjoy just a decent income. Proles are gonna hurt.
Let's see how that works out, since entertainers seem to be all in for socialism. Then afterward they can tell us how much it motivated them to be the best in their respective fields. Or something...Replies: @DextersLabRat
Here is some equity we demand: a decree in equity that, since he didn’t win by the lawful votes and his installation was marked by material fraud, Biden is not POTUS and never has been. Retroactive.
That sounds an awful lot like Affirmative Action. I’m agin’ it!
Fortunately, most of this stuff (so far) is abstract. Joe won't disappoint on rhetoric.
As a climate denier and economic nationalist, I applaud his Keystone XL executive order. The Canadian's and their pipeline companies can pound (tar) sand.
I don't know what a climate denier is, but I like the insinuation that it is deplorable. I believe in weather, but not the social construct climate. Which I was told isn't weather, except when it is hot outside.

The difference between "equality of opportunity" and "opportunity of results" is meaningless in light of the fact that more than a half-century after formal (legal) racial equality was achieved, people of color (especially African Americans) rank substantially lower on every measure of personal well-being (employment, income, education, socio-economic mobility, health, environmental safety, etc., etc.) to an extent that cannot possibly be ascribed to mathematical chance. There are only two other explanations for this enduring phenomenon: either nonwhites are instrinsically inferior to whites (as avowed white supremacists argue) or there is something fundamentally wrong with how our society is structured, which can only be addressed through governmental intervention (as critical race theory argues). One of those two have to be correct. There is no tenable third position that can simultaneously uphold the concept of "equal opportunity" while denigrating and/or opposing all real-world efforts to bring it about. Sorry.
Some commenters need to understand what it means to promote equity. One goal of medical schools is to attract more underrepresented minorities, so that the healthcare workforce represents the general population. Not only does this open up opportunity, but these groups often serve the communities they came from, which tend to be underserved by the healthcare system. Equity is about trying to create more opportunities for communities that are underrepresented and historically weren't given the same opportunities. gaslighting that I'd hope in 2021 we'd have moved past.Replies: @James Speaks, @MEH 0910, @Achmed E. Hopefully the beleaguered American Jew will finally get a fair shake.
Opportunity or benefits, but mostly benefits.
Why no religious break down in the data? How can we ensure access to opportunity and benefits if we don’t track the actual overrepresentation of Protestants in this majority Protestant country if we don’t have the numbers?
Does President Joe Blow explain how having a cabinet that is 25% Jewish advances “equity”?
I’m wondering who will be the first major politician or talking head is going to be to ask that trillion dollar question. “Joe, you keep talking about equity. Why do you keep appointing so many Jews?”
At some point someone is going to ask that question. All hell may break loose, but the eyes of about 100 million voters will suddenly be wide open, and that politician will end up with a very big fan base.
Come on, man, you need good people for the really important jobs.
No one is allowed to ask why, if Germany was starved for energy during WW II (it was), it would have wasted the enormous amounts of fuel it would have taken to cremate 6M Jews. No one is allowed to ask where the burial pits are. No one is allowed to ask who controls ALL the MSM. Ask Gregg Easterbrook.
Probably 15-20 years ago, the late Justin Raimondo wrote an article on his website, Antiwar.com, about his book "Reclaiming The Lost Right." He discussed authors I had never even HEARD of who apparently were HUGE in the 1930s. More recently, Ron Unz wrote an article on this website pointing out how thoroughly the System had purged America First dissidents during the FDR Administration, to the point where eminent, esteemed, Establishment liberals were whitewashed out of history, in a manner eerily reminiscent of Stalinist USSR.
The adherents of Statolatry see not the errors of the high priests' ways.
“Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.”

I have talked before here about lower income white people and advocated for fairness for them. I never got any response. Maybe people thought I was trolling or was not serious. But I was dead serious. I was talking about my people.
If we are going to talk about fairness we must talk about white people. If the federal goverment was interested in equity for all the neglected, they would include white people. “Embedded in that is a recognition that we have a lot of talented people whose skills, whose knowledge, whose innovations and creativity are not being brought to bear to help their country.” A lot of these neglected talented people are white. Just because most of our elites are white doesn’t most white people are doing well.
There are lots of rural whites who are doing very poorly, for example. They are invisible but there’s millions of them. I know; these are the people where I live and some of my own family members. They live in white areas where half or more of kids get free or reduced lunch. Where I am the Republicans focus on small business — they are their contributors, I suppose — but have nothing to offer workers. They see workers as those demanding people who are our enemies. Nationwide these people are largely unrepresented in areas dominated by educated whites such as media, the arts, Hollywood and finance. They are lost. They are killing themselves with guns and drugs and are acting more and more like big city minorities by not marrying and having kids they can’t take care of.
I am a lot more interested in who is unrepresented and invisible because of class, not race and sexual preference. The elites of all colors in our nation are obviously taking care of themselves just fine. Are Obama’s daughters facing any significant discrimination? I don’t think so.
Right now the whole middle class is losing ground and the working class, working poor and just plain poor are finding life in America impossible — and things are getting worse for them. What is Biden’s answer to that?

Boomers are starting to die off. When the boomers are mostly dead and gone in about 20 years, you can expect to see large numbers of whites, who will then be a minority, start to move back to Europe (including eastern Europe), Canada, Australia, and even Russia. A racial communism will be awful, but that is what will be extant in the United States.
We are beginning the last decent decade here. I bet it begins to rapidly deteriorate past 2030, and especially after 2035.
Id advise the young whites to start looking now, and get in a career that is needed in thw job market of a prispective nation. It would be a great exiatence being an engineer or doctor in a place like Norway. Little crime, nice polite white people everywhere. Dress for the cold. You could leave Detroit for Cincinnatti in 1982, but in 2032 Cincinnatti will be awful also. Nowhere here to run then…..

What happened to Anglo-Saxon unity?
Imagine living in a country in which people can be proud to be Irish or Italian, but you can’t be proud to be an Anglo-Saxon. Imagine a country in which elite jobs can be generously awarded to Jews and Catholics, but not White Protestants. If you told Americans back in 1945 that this was what their country would look like someday, I don’t think they’d believe you.
Imagine if you told past generations of Americans that the Confederate flag would be a controversial symbol, but the gay pride flag would be everywhere. Who’d believe you?

Has Merrick Garland been confirmed yett? Given that he is being appointed to head the department responsible for imposing most of this on the country, and that Biden is apparently going to make this a major issue in his administration, his confirmation hearing would be the perfect chance to raise the issue. And it wouldn’t even have to be in an inflammatory manner. The senator who brought it up might still have a political career in his future.
It could be a serious discussion about why the government feels the need to fight some types of racial and gender disparity but others are considered acceptable. Garland, aside from being the man who would enforce much of this policy, offers a perfect chance to bring it up because his confirmation would make Joe’s cabinet 25% Jewish, and his confirmation back in 2016 would have made the Supreme Court 44% Jewish.
What better time than now? If we don’t stop this now this issue will quickly get away from us.

Using the government to dictate outcomes based on race is . . . “systemic racism.” Oh, the irony! Luckily, leftists were all apparently born without irony receptors or the ability to use words consistently.
But the real question is: How extreme and overt must the official policy of anti-white racism become before Republicans will actually use the w-word to name the people being discriminated against, or appeal to the w’s to fight back?
I was in a big box office supply store a couple days ago and at checkout was asked if I wanted to round up to the next dollar as part of their initiative to donate to "minority owned businesses impacted by COVID". I politely told the cashier, "No...I do not support systemic racism."
If there had been a minority owned business nearby carrying the same products, I would have left my items at the checkout and informed them that, "I'll do better than that! I'll buy this stuff from _____'s."
Of course, if the "White" people are the right sort of people, i.e., those who fundamentally don't give a shit about the decades of leveraged buyouts, followed by the looting of productive industrial firms which, after being asset stripped, have all of their production equipment crated and shipped overseas to China or such, leaving the former workers unemployed, likely with defined benefit plans abrogated, and their communities facing general economic collapse, well then those people will have their interests represented, but - pointedly - not the schlubs and their devastated communities. And that's not mentioning the middle class professionals who have been shafted through outsourcing, and the importation of H1Bs to economically compete with those (soon to be former) middle class Americans.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans have been focused on concentrating wealth into fewer and fewer hands, and it is evident that these hands are really not working toward the good of a nation. Clearly, to them, the idea of a nation to which they owe allegiance and service, is a superannuated, laughably quaint notion. They're the Globalist Uniparty, and we don't mean squat to them, judging by their actions.
Divide et impera is their credo, and their willingness, actually eagerness, to demographically overwhelm us with masses of tribal foreigners shows this unmistakeably.
They have made tribal politics inevitable. Either we Whites play that game inside of a sham unitary nation, or we work toward our own, genuinely independent nation in which we can set our own course free of this toxic tribalism that is certain to ruin our culture and our prospects as a people. The first option is vile, the second one is appealing, but it will require much sacrifice. Do we still have it in us to make that choice?
“Drop dead.”
You are confused if you think Massachusetts has a Republican Governor, even if by that you mean one who is a member of the current Republican establishment. Al Franken, of all people, wrote a blurb for Frank Luntz’s book: “Language is like music. Unfortunately, the Republicans have a Paul McCartney in the person of Frank Luntz. Somehow, we Democrats got stuck with Yoko Ono.”
But they improved. Scott Adams in Win Bigly noticed that while Hillary Clinton’s word usage was the usual substandard, Bernie Sanders was clearly punching above his weight class. When he dropped out, her language went “from worst to first”. Through a little digging, Adams determined that Robert Cialdini had quietly switched camps. Suddenly it got “dark” for the Donald.
No….It is much different. Blacks don’t much like school. They are tired of jobs they can’t do. Equity skips the opportunity and gets right to the payoff.

At the supermarket today, I saw Kamala Harris on a magazine cover with a caption saying that her assumption of the vice presidency as a “woman of color” is a significant historical first.
But isn’t the assumption to the presidency of a “man of cognitive decline” an even greater historical first? For the first time in America’s history, it will have elected to its highest office a man already suffering obvious signs of dementia.* From Politico:
Finally, the millions of elderly Americans being cared for by their adult children or residing in nursing homes and memory-care facilities have a president who has personally faced the challenges they struggle with every day. For the first time, this marginalized and disenfranchised segment of our population is truly represented. Our president knows them. He understands them. He is one of them.
*I wouldn’t count Reagan, as his cognitive decline wasn’t obvious until late in his second term.

I suspect many boomers voted for Biden just to feel younger.
Someday, perhaps as soon as twenty years from now, boomers will hand over power to…Millenials, like AOC! GenXers are gonna be royally screwed.
The idea behind this equity jargon comes from divorce law. To avoid dealing with constitutional hindrances like due process family law courts were declared “courts of equity,” and since then the practice has been accepted. The abuses are explained away with legalese but when the state comes and takes your stuff through administrative actions (e.g. garnishments, account seizures) it’s pretty clear due process is irrelevant. The legal fig leaf is best interests of the child, but it’s clear from decades of studies of father absence that that matters not a whit.
I’ve been wondering for some time whether politicians would dare apply the same process to reparations. It’s an interesting question, because billions are wrung out of men (and, increasingly, women) every year through administrative seizures of property for child support. If reparations were declared an urgent issue of equity like child support, it’s possible that courts and state/federal agencies could be set up exactly on the same model.
It would work something like this:
Everybody who has a social security number must sign up for equity scrutiny at the age of 18, and would be classified by race at that time as well. When the time comes to enforce reparations, then these agencies could simply order employers to hand over a portion of wages, seize funds in bank accounts, put liens on property, etc. If one objects, then a court date could be set up to determine whether it is an equitable case. Because racial justice will be equitable by definition, it would be very difficult to resist.
Maybe people don’t think we’d put up with it. Certainly a lot of people would try to hide income, leave the country, lie and so forth to get out of it, but the system could be set up in a way top make it very difficult to do that. For example, denial of passports to those who don’t make all payments is a standard practice in child support cases. Furthermore, it’s a pretty lousy existence running and hiding just because you can’t pay half your pre-tax income to an obligee. So many men put up with it that I’m sure people are wondering whether they couldn’t just do it to all white people. It’s entirely possible IMO.
True. Jews make up 2% of the population and about 30% of the nation’s elite in all fields. They are thus consistently overrepresented by about 1500%. Pointing this out and splitting out Jews from generic whites when measuring “privilege” shows that: (a) non-Jewish whites are not even overrepresented among elites as compared to their percentage of the population; (b) different ethnic groups can have very different abilities; (c) the system is obviously not biased in favor of non-Jewish whites; and (d) the distribution of elites can’t “look like America” without a massive purge of Jews (which of course makes the whole project anathema).
The trick is to point out this overrepresentation in the context of complementing the Jews and using their success to show the system is meritocratic. But most of the people noticing there are “too many Jews,” are trying to make a different point.
Also, leftists are impervious to facts and reason, so there’s that problem also.
Never happened before. Won’t happen now. Even noticing that someone is Jewish is a capital offense to the MSM, and there is zero upside for any Senator to broach the issue and be labeled an anti-Semite and White Supremacist.
In case no one has noticed, there will be no open or fair discussion of anything in American society until the leftist monopoly on the media is broken.
Exactly!
I was in a big box office supply store a couple days ago and at checkout was asked if I wanted to round up to the next dollar as part of their initiative to donate to “minority owned businesses impacted by COVID”. I politely told the cashier, “No…I do not support systemic racism.”
If there had been a minority owned business nearby carrying the same products, I would have left my items at the checkout and informed them that, “I’ll do better than that! I’ll buy this stuff from _____’s.”
We’re not going to talk about fairness.
Organize or die.
wwebd said – Has Biden made any comments about how little-old-man, circa 2021, how little-old-man and angry angry angry “Hank” Aaron, who never spent a single moment caring about the black victims of abortion in the targeted Planned Parenthood neighborhoods, died after taking the white-man vaccine?
Racism is bad, which is bad news for poor Biden, it is sad to be the last racist President.
In any event, there is a theocratic age around the corner, or an apocalypse.
I know which, but nobody cares what I think —- because I don’t want them to, that is the only reason.
Racism is bad, and poor little Joe is just as much of a puppet as Obama, albeit with a marginally hotter wife (just kidding – to the extent that an elderly woman can be non-hot ….well, to such an extent, Biden did not draw the lucky cards in life) , but with less vigor in his joints and sinews.
Poor little bastard. That being said, watching the little old man pretend to be in charge of anything reminds me of my young days in Moscow when we used to mock Brezhnev to the delight of the women who loved hearing from people who had love in their hearts. At least Brezhnev had bravery in his heart when he was younger, I knew that, the young women knew that, poor little puppet Joe will never understand what it means to be a man.
I've been wondering for some time whether politicians would dare apply the same process to reparations. White women benefit from the former but wouldn’t from the latter. They’re the final boss for such a reparations regime.
The minute it hurts the wives of elected Rs.
The Republican party wants nothing to do with representing the White community. They have made this abundantly clear for years, nay decades, as they have joyfully worked to undermine that community’s well being.
Of course, if the “White” people are the right sort of people, i.e., those who fundamentally don’t give a shit about the decades of leveraged buyouts, followed by the looting of productive industrial firms which, after being asset stripped, have all of their production equipment crated and shipped overseas to China or such, leaving the former workers unemployed, likely with defined benefit plans abrogated, and their communities facing general economic collapse, well then those people will have their interests represented, but – pointedly – not the schlubs and their devastated communities. And that’s not mentioning the middle class professionals who have been shafted through outsourcing, and the importation of H1Bs to economically compete with those (soon to be former) middle class Americans.
They’re the Globalist Uniparty, and we don’t mean squat to them, judging by their actions.
Your ignorance is revolting.
The difference between “equality of opportunity” and “opportunity of results” is meaningless in light of the fact that more than a half-century after formal (legal) racial equality was achieved, people of color (especially African Americans) rank substantially lower on every measure of personal well-being (employment, income, education, socio-economic mobility, health, environmental safety, etc., etc.) to an extent that cannot possibly be ascribed to mathematical chance. There is no tenable third position that can simultaneously uphold the concept of “equal opportunity” while denigrating and/or opposing all real-world efforts to bring it about. Sorry.
Some commenters need to understand what it means to promote equity. One goal of medical schools is to attract more underrepresented minorities, so that the healthcare workforce represents the general population. Not only does this open up opportunity, but these groups often serve the communities they came from, which tend to be underserved by the healthcare system. Equity is about trying to create more opportunities for communities that are underrepresented and historically weren’t given the same opportunities. gaslighting that I’d hope in 2021 we’d have moved past.

By the "logic" that you enunciated in your epistle, those prizes, the money associated with the Prize, and most importantly the intellectual vigor that is associated with a person who can correctly logically explain new basic-scientific-knowledge that is discovered and sometimes put to immediate benefit for all of mankind in a practical manner should now be bestowed on random blacks who are of course American citizens. Why? You summarized "it" as follows: "...either nonwhites are intrinsically inferior to whites ... or there is something fundamentally wrong with how our society is structured, which can only be addressed through governmental intervention..."!!!!!!
Your explanation for the dearth of Negro Prize winners in the categories that I listed is simply that the White scientists (including a commendable number of Ashkenazi Jews) created a cabal to systematically deny all those deserving Negro scientists from the just rewards for all that hard excellent effort that they put into making those discoveries only to have the recognition of the discovery stolen by the White scientists! The logic of this statement is "Looney Tunes"!!!!!!!!
Using your binary logic, either I am lying about Negro Nobel Prize winners in those categories or I am correct!!! And I do not accept as a diversion, red herring, that there have been American Negro Nobel Prize winners; indeed, there have been!! But those were in the categories of Literature and Peace. Both of those categories tend to be P-O-P-U-L-A-R-I-T-Y C-O-N-T-E-S-T-S without the need for the recipient to have much intellectual vigor, whereas the scientists have sometimes invested 30 years to develop the work that led to the awarding of the Prize in the scientific categories. And since there have actually been several hundred White American winners, we are not discussing some hypothetical one or two event phenomena!!
Just imagine how the Negro Americans would be uplifted (past the Sun?) en masse by a hyperbolic announcement from Cecilia Rouse that she has i) removed the Prizes from White oppressors and ii) bestowed them properly upon Negro Americans, randomly chosen, since the original Negro American scientists from whom the knowledge was stolen did not ever publish their work so that proper scientific recognition could have been worldwide!!!
You've identified the fundamental issue there, and I thank you for it. Gilder's Life After Google describes this approach as Google's understanding of modeling humanity: a disconnected stochastic process of randomized particles. Google turns humanity into a "problem of disorganized complexity," as Jane Jacobs once wrote about; it's a useful tactic for some modeling to pretend that humans are, to choose a phrase from Houllebecq, elementary particles. We can use the tools of statistics to model them that way.
Jacobs talks about cities and social issues as problems of organized complexity between intelligent agents. Mathematical chance is not the proper tool to use here.
In his AG confirmation hearings it would be interesting to hear Garland defend the indefensible, especially in light of the fact that he will most likely be Biden’s first Supreme Court nominee!

“Racial equity is not a silo in and of itself,” said Cecilia Rouse, Mr. Biden’s nominee to lead his Council of Economic Advisers, who would be the first Black economist to oversee the council if confirmed by the Senate. “It is woven in all of these policy efforts.”
You know that even the Times’s wokefolk editors had to cringe at this. WTF.
“We maximize growth, we maximize productivity in this country when we maximize all our productive assets,” she said in an interview. “Embedded in that is a recognition that we have a lot of talented people whose skills, whose knowledge, whose innovations and creativity are not being brought to bear to help their country.”
Jeez. These people are illiterate and only pretending to understand English.
Will Biden insist on more midgets in the NBA for the sake of equity?
[Cecilia Rouse, Mr. Biden’s nominee to lead his Council of Economic Advisers] went on, “We must follow The Science: countless studies show that Blacks and Latinos are absolutely equal in cognitive ability to Asians.”

Equity is communism. Blacks need to learn to help themselves instead of organizing protests b/c they are not given enough free stuff. The disparate impact is caused, mainly, by DNA. Simply put, investing in blacks yields less than the same investment in whites. That’s not racism, that’s nature.
From each according to his whiteness. To each according to his blackness.
I agree with you. I’m interested in class issues, too. But I don’t think they are a popular topic here (with some exceptions) except in a negative way. Biden has just tried to address this a little with several executive orders relating to food policy. I guess we’ll have to see how this plays out. (Note to angry commenters: I wasn’t a Biden voter. Oooops. Achilles heel right there. Sounds like a restatement of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
I love China.
Garland is 68 y.o., so probably he won’t be a Supreme Court nominee again. Obama allegedly only nominated him because he thought Garland’s age and supposed moderation would help him pass in a Republican-controlled Senate. We’re about to find out how moderate Garland actually is.
Biden made a campaign promise to nominate a black woman to the Court. There has already been some speculation that black woman would be California Justice Leondra Kruger who is half black…and half Jewish.
My guess is that if we ever do hear any questions regarding the difference between the way the government ignores one gap but actively discriminates to eliminate another, it will most likely be in a Court case, either in arguments or in the verdict. Federal judges have lifetime appointments, and it’s hard to remove them. Past a certain age they typically don’t have much hope of promotion. And if the justice who raises the question is already a SCOTUS justice well that is that.
Biden’s plan certainly promises to generate a lot of litigation. Perhaps the question will come up in one of those cases – even better if it comes up in an opinion ruling against him. It seems (to me anyway) to be a good way to challenge the leftist claim that Disparity = Discrimination without having to bring up the issue of IQ.
My one progressive friend told me the Republicans should have accepted Garland's nomination because he is "moderate." I told him that on all cases that have a political dimension, liberal justices march in lockstep. The most "moderate" liberal will vote the same as the most radical liberal.
A moderate liberal would be one who disagrees with his party on a number of issues. There aren't many of those.Replies: @Dan Hayes
Kind of humorous to read the comments on this article. They’re almost uniformly opposed. NYT progressive readers are an odd lot, they cheer on BLM but balk when Biden goes on racial equity overdrive.
Maybe that’s why there’s so much browbeating of white women lately. They have always been the primary beneficiaries of white male earnings, and that’s got to make a lot of people pretty resentful. What white males think doesn’t matter, of course.

First, you are incorrect in assuming that “nonwhites” have lower incomes and success than whites. Asians and Jews, for example, do much better than whites.
But, as to blacks, you have defined the issue correctly and you have also identified the correct answer: “they are intrinsically inferior to whites.” At least insofar as the average black IQ is about 85. (I don’t like the term “inferior,” however, and would prefer “differently abled.”)
Asians and Jews are also “differently abled” insofar as they have average IQs of about 106 and 115, respectively. Consequently, they earn more than whites to about the same degree as these numbers would predict. If your second hypothesis were correct, it would mean that allowing Jews, Asians, and people from India, to make more than whites was “something fundamentally wrong with how our society is structured.” I hope you are not advocating that avowedly racist position.
Finally, it’s also worth reflecting on why it is supposedly imperative for all people and groups to have the exact same amount of stuff. I thought “diversity” was supposed to be a good thing.
Isn’t it about time?
Now if not sooner.
Fortunately, most of this stuff (so far) is abstract. Joe won't disappoint on rhetoric.

I wonder if the media is being seeded with these stories to prep the way for Kamala, perhaps they will soon show greater interest in Hunter and his laptop as well?
And we could have averted all this if the Republicans had not run a candidate who was a buffoon and an incompetent. The Senate should have convicted Trump and let Pence take the helm, he would have beaten Biden easily. Complaining about Biden is way too little and too late. Lots of people seem to prefer complaining instead of making the tough choices to do the right thing.
It is unlikely that any of non-Trump candidates would have won one of the Midwestern states of WI, MI or PA let alone all three. Winning OH, IA would have been a 50/50 prospect at best.
Only Rubio wins FL. The Republicans were looking at crapping out in the long term if they didn’t find a way to activate the white working class. Trump for all his faults showed them the way.

What bilge. How about this: Some subcultures are more beneficial to their members than others. A subculture that valorizes hard work, persistence, personal responsibility, education, respect for law, achievement, self-reliance, and two-parent family values — otherwise known as “Multiracial Whiteness” — is going to outperform a subculture that glorifies selling and using drugs, pimping and prostitution, dropping out of school, vandalization, out-of-wedlock births, dependency on welfare, gang membership, avoidance of responsibility, ignorance and superstition, and lawbreaking.

No shit! Who’s going to be hired after refusing to participate in tryouts?
Once again, we see that the NYT operates without editors. How stupid do the article’s authors have to be to write that instead of “. . . women were much more likely to be hired for orchestras when the tryouts were blind”?
What about white men forced out of jobs?
This use of “equity” is somewhat a silly semantic game; trendy jargon like “trope,” “dog whistle,” and “astro turfing.”
But they’re also using it to signal a new paradigm: There is now no more equal justice or protection under the law. Evil white men used the term “equal” to game the system and get rich on the backs of non-whites. So we’ll use a new word to fix it.
And some people just happen to be non-philo-Semitic. What’s the problem with that?

People like this guy, a former NYC detective whose union sure got him some big raises who now lives in rural PA complaining about some grocery workers getting three years of 60 cent raises. He just doesn’t want people to strike and I am pretty sure he can’t stand AOC. It never occurs to Republicans to defend workers as a way to appeal to many lower income whites, even now that these people have largely abandoned the Democrats and often vote Republican. Neither party will stick up for needy whites when it counts.

If you consider the implications of your unsubstantiated claims regarding “equity” (and not equality), are you then advocating the “removal” of all Nobel Prizes from those American (citizen) recipients who received such in the categories of Physics, Chemistry, or Medicine whose genetic “history” is not Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, or mestizo? As you well know there has NEVER been a recipient of the Nobel Prize in any of those three categories whose genetic “history” is sub-Saharan Africa, from whatever country of which this hypothetical individual might be a citizen!! Hence I did not include blacks in the category of those who have received the prize, who are non-White, and are American citizens.
By the “logic” that you enunciated in your epistle, those prizes, the money associated with the Prize, and most importantly the intellectual vigor that is associated with a person who can correctly logically explain new basic-scientific-knowledge that is discovered and sometimes put to immediate benefit for all of mankind in a practical manner should now be bestowed on random blacks who are of course American citizens. Why? You summarized “it” as follows: “…either nonwhites are intrinsically inferior to whites … or there is something fundamentally wrong with how our society is structured, which can only be addressed through governmental intervention…”!!!!!!
The logic of this statement is “Looney Tunes”!!!!!!!!

Elvis Costello’s greatest music was from the first 6 years of his career. 1977-1982. After that it’s all a slow decline. He had some good songs but no more great albums. Imperial Bedroom seemed to be, at the time, a foretelling of many great things to come, but was instead his last real triumph. Trust doesn’t “fall in the middle,” it’s one of his classics from an incredible artistic run which in only a few years would be over.

My stock answer to this particular species of virtue signalling quasi religious pomposity is always the same:
‘Mr. Biden, you are one of those whites fortunate enough to have enough wealth and power to actually make a *personal* gesture to end this terrible injustice, and in doing so, you will be elevated to the noblest amongst us by actually setting a moral example which lesser mortals can heed and follow. Surely, Joe Biden, you can find the grace within yourself by gifting a substantial share of the substantial Biden family fortune to the charity of disadvantaged blacks, and perhaps the ultimate self sacrifice of them all – gifting your own personal power to a deserving black’.

It was such a good line that Gene Simmons used it too. Gene clearly wished he had thought of it first.
Both Simmons and Roth are Jewish. Not that it matters to me since I would rock out with either of them over the (Italian?) Costello. But around here at Unz there does seem to be an interest in that sort of thing.
Averted what? Jeb Bush was advised by the same people that advise Biden such as Raj Chetty. Establishment Republicans like this stuff too. Romney was one of the first senators to attend a BLM rally.
Rice’s ‘this is just a zero sum game’, actually deserves more debate. Is this proposed multi-generational deduction of GDP growth points signalling the virtue of over-promoting the under-qualified (for that will be the result; think how well India has fared under a brutally enforced caste system…Kamala) worse in net present value terms than the BET’s demand for a $14 trillion one-off bullet reparations payment? Provided the latter dollop comes with the proviso that ‘victims’ shut the f&ck up forever, I think it better to take the medicine in one go. Discuss?

“to an extent that cannot possibly be ascribed to mathematical chance. ”
You’ve identified the fundamental issue there, and I thank you for it. Gilder’s Life After Google describes this approach as Google’s understanding of modeling humanity: a disconnected stochastic process of randomized particles. Google turns humanity into a “problem of disorganized complexity,” as Jane Jacobs once wrote about; it’s a useful tactic for some modeling to pretend that humans are, to choose a phrase from Houllebecq, elementary particles. We can use the tools of statistics to model them that way.
Jacobs talks about cities and social issues as problems of organized complexity between intelligent agents. Mathematical chance is not the proper tool to use here.
You assume that question will be ALLOWED to be asked in public. Whatever gave you that idea?
No one is allowed to ask why, if Germany was starved for energy during WW II (it was), it would have wasted the enormous amounts of fuel it would have taken to cremate 6M Jews. No one is allowed to ask where the burial pits are. No one is allowed to ask who controls ALL the MSM. Ask Gregg Easterbrook.
Probably 15-20 years ago, the late Justin Raimondo wrote an article on his website, Antiwar.com, about his book “Reclaiming The Lost Right.” He discussed authors I had never even HEARD of who apparently were HUGE in the 1930s.

Biden owes Sanders for rolling over, and Warren for destroying Bloomberg. But he knows not to promote either, since it means the end of Senate control.Replies: @Hibernian
In Massachusetts Republicans are John Lindsay, not Dewey/Eisenhower/Rockefeller, Republicans. Ditto for Vermont.
I have to admit to liking JonTester, too, since he's done real work in life.
The Ayatollah Khomeini routinely used to refer to the White House as the ‘Black House’ in speeches made throughout the 1980s.
Agree that Costello’s early years until about 1982 and Imperial Bedroom were the best . . . though his country cover album Almost Blue in ’81 was stinky. For some reason King of America ’86 doesn’t stand up compared to Elvis’ earlier works. Too long . . . Too much T-bone . . . can’t put my finger on it. Even by the mid-80s Elvis was rather boring in concert. Can’t stand some of his later stuff.

Ultra elite Whites have been replaced by foreign imports in medicine, large law firm work, computer science, and the civil service.
Asking critical questions of the high priest of Statolatry could get you branded as a Trump supporter or labeled as unhinged or deranged and may even come with calls for you to be re-educated or your early demise (sounds sort of like Infidel).
The adherents of Statolatry see not the errors of the high priests’ ways.
I suggest actually reading some of his articles. He saw through his father’s communism, and he is not a Jewish ethnocentric. If he has a vice it is that he sometimes drifts into literary pedantry. He is one of the best conservative writers alive.

Steve, you may have been joking but it is time to have a Straight White Protestant Caucus. Of course actual studies show just the opposite. Degradation is the logical consequence of ignoring race science, itself a term that needs to become legitimate, and eugenics.Replies: @James N. Kennett
IMHO it is a better strategy to win the Presidential nomination for one of the two main parties. There is no future in being the third party in a two-party system.
Taking over or coopting a party is the way to go.
You think the people running this country with their wonderful educations, connections and millions are no better off than me or one of the local opioid addicts?

The same Quislings and racial groups that are dispossessing poor Whites.
Elite Whites are facing a reduced future for their kith and kin. That they are doing okay now doesn’t change the trajectory of the coming history.
Martin Luther King noticed that while most black Americans were poor, most poor Americans were white. This is not a difficult concept to grasp, but in the last 50 years this basic point has been forgotten. Now all that matters is race – and politicians have the effrontery to tell poor whites that they have “white privilege”.
These developments were described in a 1995 book by Christopher Lasch, The Revolt Of The Elites:

As noted by other comments, moving solves nothing.
More practical is to copy the Amish; Haredi; etc. A kind of sheltering in place.
The Mormons had that kind of thing going on; but they raised up a Mitt Romney who now marches in BLM protests. Reminds us that it is hard to stay the course.
The gaslighting continues.
You’re a space cowboy. But…
Do you speak of the pompatus of love?

About that affirmative action stuff…
Sounds an awful lot like affirmative action to me.
Maybe it’s time to give a little disaffirmative inaction a try.
Whatever we try, let’s not be like this guy…

Why can't be things be done for have not whites just because there are whites who have a lot? Do you mean the whites who care doing well would do even better because we help the have nots? They are already doing better with each passing year, helping the have nots wouldn't change that.Replies: @ben tillman
The whites who are doing well are doing worse with each passing year. As are whites at all other economic levels. We’re in this together, and the future of our race depends on our convincing the “whites who are doing well” of this fact. Do you imagine that members of other races would do anything for “have not whites”?

The Jewish community.
The people running the country aren’t white.
Then I’m sure you’ll be relieved to learn that no one is ascribing it to that.
Linda Gottfredson did a paper where she combines research on IQ distribution by profession/job and by race, and she comes up with the result that the number of blacks in each job category roughly matches what you’s expect if you hired blacks who were half a standard deviation below the white workers. In other works, blacks are not proportionally represented by their share of the population, but they are quite overrepresented based on ability. The deviatations kind of make sense: more of a gap for STEM, less for things like sales and adminstration, where an extroverted personality can help.
This compromise of “OK, we’ll put up with an 8-point IQ gap if you don’t agitate for a full standard deviaition gap” seemed to mostly satisfy everyone for many years, but I bet the gap is growing now that full equity is the goal. And now we have many more Asians. Hold on tight. This is going to be a wild ride.
Herrnstein and Murray had similar data. I got this from Levin’s Why Race Matters, which gathers together a lot of research from both sides of the issue.
The rest of your comment is a load of crap. Take that shit to the letters to the editor ... in Nineteen freaking Seventy-Five, ya turd.Replies: @ChrisZ
Achmed, you always kill me, but that second paragraph is a classic even for you. That’s the attitude and vernacular we’ve got to strike in the pitiful era ahead. Keep showing the way, you glorious bastard.
If this equity thing would extend to traders and investment bankers at Citi and Goldman, lawyers at Paul, Weiss, school principals at the innumerable charter schools dotting, say, Park Slope Brooklyn,/West Side of Manhattan, students attending such schools, admittees to the Ivies, to executives in the vp slots and above at Google/Facebook, etc ...I would be all for it. I want my enemies to be hurt. But most likely this equity will suss out some minding-it's-own business steamfitters union in Sacramento California or Dayton Ohio, piqued that intelligent white proles like doing that stuff, are good at it and enjoy just a decent income. Proles are gonna hurt.Replies: @Hannah Katz
Seems the best way is to test this on one group in society with wide gaps in income, before hitting up the whole country. So let’s subject entertainers to equity. Singers, actors, pro athletes, etc. Confiscate all their assets and spread them equally among all entertainers, including minor league ball players and folks who sing in honky tonk bars and community playhouses.
Let’s see how that works out, since entertainers seem to be all in for socialism. Then afterward they can tell us how much it motivated them to be the best in their respective fields. Or something…

The Dems (can we start calling them the United States People’s Democratic Republic now? It’s not like Republicans will ever be elected again to President) need household name entertainers to have a friendly face that convinces the masses they’re the good guys. I.e. Gaga, Katy Perry, JLo etc etc littering the screen for an hour during the inauguration. Those people expect to be handsomely rewarded for their efforts and it’s in the interest of the Dems to keep them placated. Can’t have another Kanye situation of someone dangerously straying off the reservation.
I was there when Bill Weld was elected, then Celluci replaced him. They strike me as Dems who are competent and not connected to the political machines because they’re the wrong party.

Not entirely off topic:
White House speeding up plans to replace Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.
Remember how this all started: liberals during Obama’s 2nd term were whining about how our currency was all male and plus the $20 had the evil-genocidal-Jackson on it, whose claim to infamy was pushing for Indian removal. So the hunt started to find some woman who could replace Jackson and of all the choices, Tubman was picked because female+black=doubleplusgood. Sorry all you Karens and AWFLs, Tubman’s has more intersectional points than you! Get to the back of the bus with all those evil white males!
As Obama said “Elections have consequences.”
Every time I hear about Elvis Costello, I can’t stop thinking about David Lee Roth’s mike-drop line, “the reason why rock critics like Elvis Costello is that they look like Elvis Costello.”
He spends a lot of effort ragging on the British white lower class, as if the fish doesn’t rot from the head. It is a backhanded way of supporting the anti-white status quo.
