As Stalin would say if he were a candidate for Biden’s VP pick, you can’t make a Mostly Peaceful Protest without burning to death a few murder victims.

We can--endlessly--mock how stupid and dishonest and just plain vile these Democrat riots are.

But unless Trump is willing to call them the "Democrat Riots"--and go stem to stern on all the lying--what's the point?

If you want to win you have to fight. And point out what you are fighting about.

The article I just read doesn’t say. It does say “The dead man’s injuries have led investigators to believe his death and Lee’s* arson are linked.” Yeah, ya think? Of course, maybe he had the COVID-19, so …

You’d think it’d be known if the owner or an employee had been missing for this long.

    .

    * That would be Montez Terriel Lee, the arsonist.

  4. “A 25-year-old Rochester [black] man, Montez Terrill Lee, was federally charged last month with arson in connection with the fire.

“According to the criminal complaint against Lee, ATF investigators received video from an anonymous source of an arson that occurred at the pawnshop. In the first clip, a masked man, later identified as Lee, is seen pouring liquid from a metal container throughout the pawnshop. A second video shows Lee standing in front of the burning pawnshop saying “[Expletive] this place. We’re gonna burn this [expletive] down.”

Am I the only one baffled by blegs burning down pawnshops?

Pawnshops are widely used by the legions of the "unbanked" as a source for ready cash. In fact, it's not a stretch to say that pawnshops are the only way many blegs have of (legally) raising cash on short notice (say, for example, to help a boyfriend/girlfriend to make bail).

Other than taxpayer-backed home loans, banks are not going to look at these people twice.

I suppose this burning down pawnshops business can be explained away by irrational exuberance, but it has to be the most egregious example of "cutting off your nose to..." I have yet seen. Sure, the interest rates pawnshops charge are high, but they are clearly stated, there are no hidden fees, and where else are blegs going to go?

Burning down pawnshops has to be the ultimate "high time preference" activity.

  9. Both the two deaths during the protests in Minneapolis were in pawn shops. Not a smart place to try and steal from, they are run by pugnacious personalities.

As Minneapolis’s Frank B. Wilderson III said in Afropessimism “the spectacle of Black death is essential to the mental health of the world.

  10. If the victim died after being diagnosed with COVID-19, then it could be said that the Mostly Peaceful Protest was not the cause of death. What really matters, though, is how many QALYs were lost.

  11. The story appeared and disappeared immediately in Twin Cities media. I guess it doesn’t fit the narrative. They’re more focused on the shop owner who killed a looter outside the store. In Minnesota one can’t use deadly force to defend property. Not sporting, you know.

This is a very possible explanation. I thought homeless person automatically but since this was an active business and there was a riot going on, the idea that a squatter was there is a lot less likely once you start thinking about it. I suppose the dead body could have been from a looter who didn't get out in time though. We will have to see what the coroner says. I suppose they'd find a bullet in a burned body if there is one but I don't know about detecting stab wounds or strangulation.

I'm a book aficionado; I even treasure the King James Bible. I read about eight hundred pounds of book a year (and this is paperback weight). I buy more books than I can possibly read. So I'm quite the expert on independent bookstores up and down the West Coast. Invariably they are owned and operated by unpleasant men. And the sci-fi specialists are a grade higher on the jackhole scale: grating personalities buried beneath the soft face of a pedophile. The Plague has probably disappeared them; no loss. 19. A charred body was found in the wreckage of a Minneapolis pawnshop this week — nearly two months after the building was burned down in the protests that followed George Floyd’s police-custody death.

Investigators were acting on a tip when they found the man’s body in the rubble of Max It Pawn on East Lake Street in south Minneapolis, police spokesman John Elder told the Star Tribune.

“The body appears to have suffered thermal injury and we do have somebody charged with setting fire to that place,” Elder told the paper.

Like, you show your loyalty to TPTB, and their narratives, by parroting the most inane platitudes that anyone with eyes can tell don’t work in the real world? Because these are not actively stupid people pushing this narrative (read The Bell Curve; they’re at least elites within their own milieus), and they clearly have some understanding of reality when it comes to their own kids.

That said, the Trucons have a lot to answer for. As some lefties and centrists have rather sourly pointed out, this has a lot in common with how the “War on Terror” was pushed in the early 2000s.

Anyone want to post their take on what is driving the 55 night riot in Portland? It seems the DHS and Portland police are more diverse than the rioters. Portland is white, but is it 98 percent white like these fun pirate riots? They are making homemade commie shields and breaking apart pieces of some elk statue and several attorneys and financial analysts have inexplicably been arrested trying to burn down the federal courthouse.

Mr. Anonyia, I'm not making excuses for the thugs and Commies, mind you, but I really don't think the Kung Flu LOCKDOWN and the withdrawal of young people's Bread & Circuses helped any with their mindset. There are people that can live with themselves and those who cannot. I believe these types in Portland, Oregon and elsewhere don't know how to spend time doing anything constructive. The time spent out of school or whatever work they had has exacerbated the crazy in them.

As for the destruction of things that take a lot of effort to create, per the commenter above, that's just it. Destroying things comes a lot easier when you don't understand how much work goes into creating them.

    > Do these people not find it strange that their mass protest on behalf of racial justice is whiter than a ski resort?

They get, in modern parlance, "triggered" if you point certain demographic realities about the protests. If you are white and point this out, they get defensive and angry. If you aren't white, they get confused and angry.

Conservative media is not doing a good job of handling this, though. There are plenty of black (African immigrant and native born American) store owners who had their livelihoods destroyed by the riots and were angry that the police didn't go out and crack some Antifa skulls before their stores were destroyed... but they also don't want Trump to be President, and aren't going to be cajoled into statements supporting him, or disavowing the Democrats, or denying that there aren't aspects of police culture they want changed in their communities. It's not hard stuff.

BTW: congrats on the new STEM career! Good luck.

  36. 4chan’s political board’s spam talking point of the moment, occupying twenty or more threads a day and sliding legitimate threads off the board, is the notion that these arrests of publicly violent criminals represent some horrific unforeseen violation of American principles. The overcentralized media and its censorship regime have failed utterly to arrest the spread of small videos showing everyone just what the “peaceful protests” are like. The horror is probably genuine. Antifa doesn’t dare show its mask in municipalities where the mayor supports the police, and the police come out strongly against arson and battery. Here they were, thinking they had a guarantee, and it turns out there’s another layer to the government which is not playing ball.
It is possible that some of these “vannings” are the extraction of undercover informants: there’s one where the perp does not resist and the arresting officers make no attempt to handcuff him.

I've only seen a real fire once , it was a tire store in Ohio . It was astonishing , the word I wanted to use was awesome but that word has been rendered meaningless . The term that came to my mind at the moment was "an inferno" , I had used the word many before but I had only SEEN an inferno once , that day , truly I should only ever have used the word once . . Later I was thinking about the word and it's real meaning and how carelessly and imprecisely we use so many words . So much so that it seems to me our language has been debased and that to express profound , subtle concepts or a great truth becomes harder and harder .
Only words of rage and hate remain uncorrupted .
I remember once at The Zen Center during a Sesshin the Sensai during his Teshio used modern psychological terms to describe the the "difficulties" of struggling with the distractions encountered in the practice . He was addressing a mostly Middle Class White group of people . It occurred to me that the old master's terms of Demons tearing at our being with red hot tongs was still the most accurate description of the struggle , that and thoughts of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and a cicken parm sub from Mario's on Chestnut Ave. in Newton , Ma.

I hate to be contentious, but until more facts are available calling it murder is just speculation.

I lost an immediate family member to a horrible fire incident so I know full well the horrors of that. As Anonymous notes it is human instinct to flee a fire. Which is why the death may have occurred before that.

Very likely a homicide, I agree.

But since this death flies in the face of the Mostly Peaceful Protest narrative, facts will be slow to emerge. Unless Trump can be blamed, it will be dismissed as just another unavoidable death in the Greater Struggle for Human Dignity.

Never in my personal experience have I met a white woman who would be willing to engage in violence like this. The women I like and love all have an aversion to physical violence; the very notion is unnatural to them. These young women of antifa, some of them my daughter's age, display a shocking physical ferocity. The rage, in most of these twisted women, is more than likely the result of trauma; quite possibly sexual abuse.

  47. And you can’t have a (post)modern technological economy without a few slaves. Slavery is technically outlawed everywhere in the world, but there are more slaves slaving away today than at any time in history.

Cotton was our first tech bubble, “dot-cotton” if you will:

Blame it on Jevons’s Paradox that increasing the energy efficiency of machines doesn’t necessarily decrease the total amount of energy people use, but may actually do the opposite. As Jevons put it in 1885, when you can burn coal more efficiently, people burn more of it…

It’s strange that there should be so many slaves today when slavery is outlawed everywhere than in days when many countries not only allowed but encouraged the institution. What’s also strange is that today there’s more labor-saving technology than at any time in history. So why the huge demand for the cheapest human labor?

I call it The Cotton Gin Paradox

If we apply the Cotton Gin Paradox to today, is it possible that all the technology enabling a dynamic global economy, from cheaper and more efficient factory equipment to bigger container ships to faster computers to run everything, doesn’t replace cheap human labor so much as create a bigger demand for it?

Or if people mistake Tamil people for Bantu people since both have the same skin tone. (Kamala Harris is betting on that one) Or if people use physical traits as proxies for group membership and group membership as proxies for other traits?

But no, dark skin is not the curse of Ham, it evolved naturally you see! Therefore racism is ended.

While Georgians are perhaps ur-Caucasians, does that really make them White in the current context of that pejoration? No. As for being a man, Stalin merely needs to self-identify as a woman to qualify. Although foreign born, that seems to be no bar to candidates in recent years (Obama and McCain), and Dem administrations in states like CA, IL, and NY have gone out of their way to give foreigners the franchise, thus qualifying them for office, so no problem here. Finally, while Stalin might be dead, that has also for more than a century not barred persons from voting Dem, so why should it bar him from office?

Later I was thinking about the word and it’s real meaning and how carelessly and imprecisely we use so many words . So much so that it seems to me our language has been debased and that to express profound , subtle concepts or a great truth becomes harder and harder .
Only words of rage and hate remain uncorrupted .
I remember once at The Zen Center during a Sesshin the Sensai during his Teshio used modern psychological terms to describe the the “difficulties” of struggling with the distractions encountered in the practice . He was addressing a mostly Middle Class White group of people . It occurred to me that the old master’s terms of Demons tearing at our being with red hot tongs was still the most accurate description of the struggle , that and thoughts of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and a cicken parm sub from Mario’s on Chestnut Ave. in Newton , Ma.

I have always thought we should make our top 10 universities (Stanford, MIT, Ivies) 100% black until blacks and whites achieve income parity. Let's put this nurture vs. nature question to rest once and for all. If these schools really are that great at nurturing talent, and all URMs are just diamonds in the rough who lack opportunity, then give these institutions the opportunity to polish them into diamonds.

This piece by Eboo Patel is even more ambitious, calling for the top 100 universities not just the top 10 to be turned over to the underprivileged, measured by income rather than race. On the surface it sounds like punishment for smart upper middle class kids, but if you look at the big picture, this will actually be a good thing. Elite universities have become a bastion of arrogant leftist elitism, an incestuous country club that has given the country some of our worst political, economic and social leaders. “independent sci-fi bookstore”

I’m a book aficionado; I even treasure the King James Bible. I read about eight hundred pounds of book a year (and this is paperback weight). I buy more books than I can possibly read. So I’m quite the expert on independent bookstores up and down the West Coast. Invariably they are owned and operated by unpleasant men. And the sci-fi specialists are a grade higher on the jackhole scale: grating personalities buried beneath the soft face of a pedophile. The Plague has probably disappeared them; no loss. Now Jeff B. is my go-to guy for books.

You are Jeff Bezos and I claim the $5 reward.

The welcoming, trendy bookstore of the Ellen TV series or the Bernie Rhodenbarr novels is, in my experience, a contrast with the sort of second hand or antiquarian shops I’m familiar with. Often there appears to be a tension in that those peddling the pesky articles are conflicted: they really, at heart, wish they could do without the business and keep the precious volumes all to themselves.

Fundamentally curmudgeonly, then, in most cases.

Occasionally one finds that there do exist bookshops where glimpses of something finer, more positive in play. A few hundred yards west of the statue of one of the signatories of the US Declaration of Independence, John Witherspoon, is a shop in which I have seen young people engaged in lively study groups on Saturday afternoons. With good weather outside.

Granted: the owner is a little curmudgeonly.

For avoidance of doubt I have no interest in Abbey Books, Paisley.

Jeff Bezos supports Black Lives Matters. He is personally pleased as punch that Uncle Hugo's & Uncle Edgar's burned to the ground. More money for him!
On the other hand it's beyond belief to me that Uncle Hugo's didn't move out to the burbs years ago. They've always been in a shitty location, one of the heavily black areas of Mpls, lately more Somali, but still black. I guess the owners were clinging to their own liberal piety of not abandoning the urban scene and probably paying fairly cheap rent. I feel bad for them, the loss of all those books, many I'm sure were out of print, is a real tragedy. Much worse than George Floyd dying in police custody.

They are making homemade commie shields and breaking apart pieces of some elk statue and several attorneys and financial analysts have inexplicably been arrested trying to burn down the federal courthouse.

Most women who suffer sexual abuse don't become violent rioters. If they did the cities would already be smoking ruins. But that's just one source of "rage."

Others are: drugs (meth is popular with the White underclass and these women) or male hormones (who has checked under the hood of these "women"?) Some may be "trans women" still full of testosterone, or just transvestite men who dress as women.

Also there are a very few Marxist women who become violent. A large number of the SDS bombers were female (one became an Obama advisor). Patty Hearst, Angela Davis. Don't forget dear Rosa Luxemberg, who was all set to turn Germany over to Lenin's pals. Sadly for her, her romantic dreams of revolutionary combat ended with her grisly death during violent battles with anti communists.

On the surface it sounds like punishment for smart upper middle class kids, but if you look at the big picture, this will actually be a good thing. Elite universities have become a bastion of arrogant leftist elitism, an incestuous country club that has given the country some of our worst political, economic and social leaders. It's time for a major shakeup.

Never in my personal experience have I met a white woman who would be willing to engage in violence like this. The women I like and love all have an aversion to physical violence; the very notion is unnatural to them.

Now Jeff B. is my go-to guy for books.

They get, in modern parlance, “triggered” if you point certain demographic realities about the protests. If you are white and point this out, they get defensive and angry. If you aren’t white, they get confused and angry.

Conservative media is not doing a good job of handling this, though. There are plenty of black (African immigrant and native born American) store owners who had their livelihoods destroyed by the riots and were angry that the police didn’t go out and crack some Antifa skulls before their stores were destroyed… but they also don’t want Trump to be President, and aren’t going to be cajoled into statements supporting him, or disavowing the Democrats, or denying that there aren’t aspects of police culture they want changed in their communities. It’s not hard stuff.

BTW: congrats on the new STEM career! Good luck.

  123. Maybe cities should handle police protection like roadside assistance. If you sign up and pay the fee, they’ll send out someone to help you in time of need. But if you’re not signed up, they’ll send someone and charge you for that at a higher rate.
