  1. Holy shit, Steve. You did nine posts in one day (June 29). That’s got to be a record.

Someone on the Siskel and Ebert post thought he was anti-Semite-baiting in his run-up to asking for donations.

From my experience, Steve's tell on an impending fund-raising drive is when he goes a relatively long period without many posts, followed by an explosion of posts (I'm guessing he goes into R&D mode for a bit and then unleashes his work). We are in such a moment.

    And, yes, I'll be donating.

Hatred for this thug and sorrow for this girl--hate to see kids killed, actually all through their youth before they get to experience life. But not much sympathy for the parents who put her in one of these settlements.

Israelis need to just get on with. Define the border they are willing to defend, push Palestinians to the other side of it, build a big ass fence and cut them loose. Going into fiftieth year of occupation is no good for anyone--their character, their sanity, their politics, their behavior.

Separate peoples. Separate nations. That is the *only* ticket to peaceful co-existence.

Somebody who knows economics check my math but doesn't even the 3% come out to less than the amount that came from quantitative easing? Which is basically, printing Monop0ly money and distributing it which makes it look like the economy expanded because you have more "dollars" being passed back and forth. That would seem to jibe with the sensation here in the weeds that the economy has actually been shrinking.

  14. I caught a bit of Obama’s speech up there in Canada but had to abort it as my rage level was rising dangerously. (Quickly switched from Fox News to the Light Classical music channel.) Obama was outdoing himself, scolding us benighted souls who don’t share his all-embracing view of humanity. As usual, he spoke a number of transparent lies in his professorial mode; example, ‘some fear that Muslims and Mexicans won’t assimilate, but they said those same things about the Irish and the Italians, so they’re obviously wrong.’ Don’t need a Jesuit to identify the logic flaw there.

I still think W. Bush was dumb/”born again” enough to believe most of the idiotic things he said. I don’t believe Obama is. Politicians are really wired differently than most of us. They never consider whether what they is true or false, only whether it serves their purposes at a given moment. And if it proves to be patently false, such as Harry Reid’s lie about Romney’s taxes, they just grin and say, “He didn’t win, did he?”

Interesting to see the odious George Will on Fox the other night pompously explaining his decision to leave the Republican Party. He has honed pomposity to the level of caricature, complete with lecturing cadences, that conclude in a kind of “harumph.” He would have been a great stock character in Marx Brothers movies, maybe playing the brother of Margaret Dumont. Laura Ingraham, one of the best people Fox ever has on, schooled him politely, but I would have loved to hear her unconstrained thoughts.

One of the main things about Obama that drives me bat-shit crazy, and makes me count the days until he leaves office, is his constant need to scold and lecture the public about everything with a smug, sanctimonious, holier-than-thou attitude.

His style isn't even professorial or informative. It's condescending, bitchy, sometimes whiny, pleading, thin-skinned, and frankly, very womanly -- like some kind of insecure churchwoman alternating between haranguing little five-year-olds with threats, asserting her superior power, and then pleading with them to "play nice."

Who in the hell is this guy, anyway, to think that he can lecture with superior moral authority on anything and everything from transgender bathrooms to the true meaning of Islam? It's not as if he's ever accomplished anything of value, has any specific expertise, or has done anything with his life aside from smoking dope and being a professional mulatto.

    Drives me absolutely nuckinfutz.

The way the Irish and the Italians were assimilated was by moving a bunch of violent blacks into their neighborhoods to ethnically cleanse them and then using force of arms and its threat to prevent them from fighting back. Also, closing their places of employment. Is that the plan to assimilate Mexicans and Muslims? Is that what Obama is promising?

At the personal level Obama just blows on by. He's a sad joke--essentially a cartoon "black" man that the nice white people pushed into office so they could vigorously pat themselves on their backs. And soon he'll be gone.... the goodwhites onto their next destructive virtue demo.

My two cents: If the smooth, thin Obama annoys ... just wait to you get Hillary. She's the *authentic* protestant church lady from hell, who knows better than everyone and can't wait to tell you. Canadians were mocking the British last week. Would those same Canadians favour the NAFTA progressing into a North American Union like the EU? Of course not! Yet having lived in the UK, Europe, and Canada I can say with 100% confidence Canadians have far more in common with Americans than the British do with any EU country (Ireland excepted) yet for Canadians the British (by which they mean the English) are turning away from the world when everybody else is getting together. Even today Germany doesn't come close to that weight in Europe, and it was even farther from that level of pre-eminence for most of the EEC/EU's history.

Still I give the EU members credit- they did manage to negotiate a couple of generations' worth of treaties creating what they have created, and all that was hard work negotiation among member governments, tough even at the original six.

I only meant that if they'd kept it to a purely intergovernmental arrangement at the comparatively limited and purely economic level of NAFTA, scarce anybody in Britain would think it a threat to sovereignty or aim to leave, even if they were mad about banana standards.

In North America, we have by comparison almost no security integration, and almost all agreed separately and bilaterally, and not the same between the US and Canada as the US and Mexico. Limited military cooperation, ditto, and between the US and Canada it is much older than NAFTA and either on the basis of NATO or bilateral agreement between the two countries. LAw enforcement cooperation is largely separate and bilateral, and on the basis of sovereignty. No judicial integration or constitutional interference. Yet having lived in the UK, Europe, and Canada I can say with 100% confidence Canadians have far more in common with Americans than the British do with any EU country (Ireland excepted) yet for Canadians the British (by which they mean the English) are turning away from the world when everybody else is getting together. 47. Not entirely OT: USMC Announces New Rules for Transgender Marines

    Highlights:

The Pentagon lifted its longstanding ban on transgender troops Thursday and began outlining details for how the military will begin allowing — and paying for — service members to transition, medically and officially, from one gender to another.

The new policy sets a deadline of one year, or July 2017, for the military to begin allowing transgender recruits to enlist or be commissioned into the officer corps by July 2017.

Prospective recruits who have undergone medical treatments associated with gender transition such as gender reassignment surgery or hormone therapy will require a doctor to certify they have been stable in their preferred gender for at least 18 months.

Many transgender individuals choose not to seek gender reassignment surgery so there is no requirement that official gender and actual genitalia match for all troops or recruits.

Defense officials estimate there are between 2,500 and 7,000 transgender troops in today’s active duty force of 1.3 million people.

I caught a bit of Obama's speech up there in Canada but had to abort it as my rage level was rising dangerously. (Quickly switched from Fox News to the Light Classical music channel.) Obama was outdoing himself, scolding us benighted souls who don't share his all-embracing view of humanity. As usual, he spoke a number of transparent lies in his professorial mode; example, 'some fear that Muslims and Mexicans won't assimilate, but they said those same things about the Irish and the Italians, so they're obviously wrong.' Don't need a Jesuit to identify the logic flaw there.

I still think W. Bush was dumb/"born again" enough to believe most of the idiotic things he said. I don't believe Obama is. Politicians are really wired differently than most of us. They never consider whether what they is true or false, only whether it serves their purposes at a given moment. And if it proves to be patently false, such as Harry Reid's lie about Romney's taxes, they just grin and say, "He didn't win, did he?"

Interesting to see the odious George Will on Fox the other night pompously explaining his decision to leave the Republican Party. He has honed pomposity to the level of caricature, complete with lecturing cadences, that conclude in a kind of "harumph." He would have been a great stock character in Marx Brothers movies, maybe playing the brother of Margaret Dumont. Laura Ingraham, one of the best people Fox ever has on, schooled him politely, but I would have loved to hear her unconstrained thoughts.

‘some fear that Muslims and Mexicans won’t assimilate, but they said those same things about the Irish and the Italians, so they’re obviously wrong.’ Don’t need a Jesuit to identify the logic flaw there.

Which is basically, printing Monop0ly money and distributing it which makes it look like the economy expanded because you have more “dollars” being passed back and forth. That would seem to jibe with the sensation here in the weeds that the economy has actually been shrinking.

I've never heard an Obama supporter explain what were the clever policies that saved us from economic collapse. It seems to me that every program and regulation that Obama rammed through just put more of a damper on the private sector.

Even one Andrew McDougall, former Harper lackey and Ottawa Citizen token Conservative columnist, took a particularly crazy line. I thought he needed pills.

And then this one National Post writer, Colby Cosh, wrote something that actually took account of what country he is in:

    http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/colby-cosh-britain-voted-for-brexit-because-it-wants-to-be-canada-and-we-hate-the-idea

Observing, correctly, that Canada exists because of a now 2 century-old unwillingness to pool sovereignty in a continental political union with the US, and Canadians have paid economic costs for it every day of that time.

Fellow NP writer and proud Newfoundlander Rex Murphy also took a sharp swipe at Canadian press and elites for their obvious hysteria and hypocrisy on the matter, but Cosh basically told Canadians to remember what country they are in.

In fairness to the Canadians, when I posted a comment in one hyperventilating newspaper’s comments section pointing out that as Canadians were jealous of their sovereignty, they could hardly complain about the British feeling the same way, I got a ton of “up” votes and responses in agreement with me.

Indeed, numerous Canadian commentators told the anti-Brexit editors they were nuts.

I make a distinction between Canadian people and their media elites. It’s only fair.

Good on Messrs. Cosh and Murphy, though.

Hatred for this thug and sorrow for this girl–hate to see kids killed, actually all through their youth before they get to experience life. But not much sympathy for the parents who put her in one of these settlements.

Israelis need to just get on with. Define the border they are willing to defend, push Palestinians to the other side of it, build a big ass fence and cut them loose. Going into fiftieth year of occupation is no good for anyone–their character, their sanity, their politics, their behavior.

Yes, this fascinates me. Obama takes credit for bringing the country out of the worst recession since the Great Depression, but what exactly was he supposed to have done? Just printed up a bunch of more dollar bills and added them on the debt that will never be repaid. Is there something I’m missing?

Laura Ingraham, one of the best people Fox ever has on, schooled him politely, but I would have loved to hear her unconstrained thoughts.

the odious George Will on Fox the other night pompously explaining his decision to leave the Republican Party.

Almost as disgusting as David Brooks. But George Will (champion of invading Iraq, until it was a disaster), has always presumed to school the rest of us on “conservatism” and “patriotism” and baseball. Baseball! I never understood why he wore the bow ties without the red nose.

Actually, the only Islamic emigration that would benefit the Jews would be if the Palestinians moved en masse to Europe like the Syrians did. All you need to accomplish that is to have a pair of Palestinian warlords fighting with each other. The Syrian Civil War has emptied a lot of its country in much the same way the Lebanese Civil War made a huge population drop in Lebanon.

  98. I like the podcast “Fash the Nation”. When they talk about Justin Trudeau, the explanation for why he’s so pozzed is because he’s a Québécois. Justin’s father, Pierre Trudeau, the original half-blood prince like Steve said, was the son of Grace Elliott, the daughter of a rich Scottish-Canadian businessman. Justin’s mother, Margaret Sinclair, was the daughter of a Canadian politician born in Scotland and her mother was from a long line of Colonial British ruling class members in Singapore and India. One ancestor has Wikipedia page. He seems from a very Upper WASP background. When he’s not scripted, it’s clear that French is a 2nd language to him. People think he’s French Canadian because of his last name and his wife. He has a beautiful stay-at-home wife and three children. Despite his family life, he promotes degeneracy and multiculturalism. He’s typical of the old WASP elite in the Anglosphere, degeneracy and multiculturalism for thee but not for me. He is like the character of PC Principal in South Park, what he does is not what he says. People outside Canada only see weird picture or statement from him, but Canadians, especially women, see a rich man with high status, a beautiful wife and children, a quasi-aristocrat. That’s the real reason, I’m sure, he’s successful.

I like the podcast "Fash the Nation". When they talk about Justin Trudeau, the explanation for why he's so pozzed is because he's a Québécois. Justin's father, Pierre Trudeau, the original half-blood prince like Steve said, was the son of Grace Elliott, the daughter of a rich Scottish-Canadian businessman. Justin's mother, Margaret Sinclair, was the daughter of a Canadian politician born in Scotland and her mother was from a long line of Colonial British ruling class members in Singapore and India. One ancestor has Wikipedia page. He seems from a very Upper WASP background. When he's not scripted, it's clear that French is a 2nd language to him. People think he's French Canadian because of his last name and his wife. He has a beautiful stay-at-home wife and three children. Despite his family life, he promotes degeneracy and multiculturalism. He's typical of the old WASP elite in the Anglosphere, degeneracy and multiculturalism for thee but not for me. He is like the character of PC Principal in South Park, what he does is not what he says. People outside Canada only see weird picture or statement from him, but Canadians, especially women, see a rich man with high status, a beautiful wife and children, a quasi-aristocrat. That's the real reason, I'm sure, he's successful.

Good point. And the key event in his rise is he won an old-fashioned boxing match.

The Trudeaus are Trust fund boys since the death of millonaire Charles-Émile Trudeau, Pierre's father, in 1935. Pierre Trudeau's first paying job was being elected Member of Parliement in his 40's. But at least he was a renowned intellectual. His writings, among others, helped birthed the "Quiet Revolution" and, inadvertently, the Quebec separatist movement in the 60's. Probably the reason fighting separatists was so personal. But Justin, who entered politics in his late 30's, surely didn't had the same intellectual baggage. That boxing match put him in the PM office.

I'm sure not defending or approving him, but the pictures and memes of him in the Alt-right, although very funny, are misleading about what his appeal is. When you realize that Canadian women do not see a ridiculous SJW but rather Mr. Darcy you understand his mind-boggling popularity and poll numbers. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CmzmG6NWgAAup2d?format=jpg&name=large
