As Countenance points out, it has become traditional for Youths to go to American shopping malls the day after Christmas and punch each other. Why?
The reason the week between Christmas and the New Year is getting bad for mall mahogany mobs is because many of them get gift cards for Christmas, and then they must immediately go to the mall and redeem them. While they’re all there, somebody remembers that somebody else dissed yet someone else for some dumbass reason, and then the fists start flying.

I believe some or all of the mall rumbles were prearranged via social media. I read that the one in Aurora CO had 500 participants. 500! That does not happen spontaneously. And this is an area that does not have a particularly large black population.
“Teens” is the description I’ve been seeing in the media … some of them appear to actually be teens, but many appear to be youths of a Syrian-refugee-like age.
Impulse control or the lack thereof.
Perhaps it is an understandable need to let loose some excess energy. All the sugary Xmas snacks require caloric expenditure. Is there some way we could capture this mayhem into productive ends?
Maybe have a treadmill, rowing machine farm hooked into a generator. Someone needs to invent a Nautilus device which can capture punching and lifting motions, then convert them to electricity.
I disagree with is theory that they go to mall for the purpose of redeeming gift cards and trouble somehow follows.
No, they go to the mall for the express purpose of causing trouble.
Why, because they think it’s fun and the resulting mayhem is a good cover for shoplifting, so it’s lucrative too.
So why right after Christmas? Because school is out and unlike white and Hispanic kids they’re not spending the holidays spending time with family. They’re bored. What better cure for boredom than going to the mall to rampage with your friends, scare old white folks, fight with your enemies and steal the stuff you wanted for Christmas but didn’t get.
On one is there to redeem Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards.
If I owned a mall, I would sure as hell want to discourage a Nike outlet store or any store with NBA or NFL merch from being a tenant. The rise of gift cards really typifies how this society has gone down the tubes… Everybody got tired of running a real retail business with steady regular customers, with all the effort and moral stringency that requires, and decided to pretend to be a bank instead. So now the already tacky and fake customs of seasonal superconsumption have been ratiocinated down to their dumbest Ayn Rand commercial quintessence, easily up there with pre-typed greeting cards. The only bright spot has been techno-cosmotarian geeks setting up gift card arbitrage web sites — the better to keep Eastern credit card forgers busy — so now this crass phenomenon has become indistinguishable from gray-market currency to the public mind. It’s a fine era for fans of fine print.
When I was a kid, my mother confiscated any Christmas money that I got from other relatives (she never gave me a dime) and made me spend it on a "real gift" - something of which she approved. (Naturally, she never approved of anything that I really wanted.) I wasn't allowed to use my money to buy what I wanted; I had to buy what she told me to buy.
She thought it was wrong to use gift money as pocket spending money.
I resented her for it, because instead of having money to spend, I ended up with a bunch of boring gifts that I didn't even want.

The Germans were (or some of them, especially the idiot Kaiser) were jealous of the UK. The UK had more ships, etc. But the UK posed no threat to Germany.
This is how the myth of it being like a bar fight started: the UK was caught completely off guard because they didn't think of the Germans as enemies. So, yes, that was a shock and it took several days to decide to support the Entente (France).

Although usually not as violent as American boxing day, boxing day (really the whole week between Christmas and New Year) in Canada and the UK has become known as the day the various mostly non-European tribes descend en masse to the local shopping centres for “bargains”. I made the mistake of going in to my local mall just east of Toronto to buy a movie I wanted to watch before my brief holiday from work was over. Coming in to the mall was like walking in to some combined Middle Eastern/Caribbean bazaar, the youts were swarming in to foot locker with a few of them arguing, to put it mildly, over the price of some shoes. In the dollarama store all the women were wearing a head scarf of some sort. I’m not sure why that store was so crowded considering a boxing day sale would probably only save someone 25 cents. It was definitely a depressing look in to the future of this country based on current trends.
I also couldn't figure out the huge and diverse crowd at the Dollarama either...

I remember, years ago, Lou Dobbs would show videos of these anarchic scenes on his since-cancelled CNN show. Bless him, he was the only one who would air such problematic video on that network. The US has more retail square feet per capita that anywhere in the world. By a lot. I’m not a fan of Malls — I mean the traditional enclosed mall with anchor department stores, etc.
Class A mall: dominant property in major metro markets, top anchors and at least $400 per square foot in retail sales.
Class B mall: a non-dominant competitor in its trading area, typified by tenant sales of less than $400 per square foot.
Class C mall: generally thought of as a weaker player, with sales of less than $250 per square foot, and usually hobbled by a competitive disadvantage, such as inferior location, vacant anchor space, etc.

They have been under pressure for years from ‘big box’ retailers and strip malls — as well as online.
It was inevitable — an innovation in retail matures and declines. I find it interesting that they have remained as competitive as they have, as well as resisting major collapse in the C segment and B’s as they deal with demographic changes.
It seems like I notice a problem that shows up on the national news every year or so. For quite a while. But so far, they seem to be fairly robust to catastrophic failure. It isn’t obvious to me how things will work out. It seems like rebellious youth are holding the cards. But the property owners are extremely motivated to develop adequate security. Plus, even more security cameras. And they are enclosed — which works both ways. I prefer the hybrid/outdoor style. But an enclosed mall is a disadvantage for crime.
Overall, I am surprised that things are working out as well as they have been.

Any mall in close proximity to a light rail or subway station should be avoided.
Here in Dallas, the amount of security at NorthPark is very high during the holidays and there is an enforced dress code (no sagging). You’ll likely have less trouble at Stonebriar and the Shops of Willow Bend as DART has no tracks near them.

As years of “hosting” freaknik proved to us here in Atlanta, these “teens” don’t actually spend any money at the Mall. They just go and stand there in large groups.

The two most valuable items taken was some cash and an xbox one gaming system which had inside a copy of a Madden NFL game.
They did not even touch my gaming P.C., though they had ransacked the room it was in, even though I have put in around $1800 in parts in that computer.

In the gaming world, anecdotally it seems there's a growing amount of bifurcation along racial lines..............White guys are playing more and more strategy games and "western" RPGs while Asian guys play League of Legends, Asian style RPGS and people of color play FIFA, MADDEN, and Grand Theft Auto. First person shooters seem to hold the most cross-racial appeal.

It seems to me that we are progressing towards some new rules. The obvious one is that blacks are not allowed into certain malls. Malls are after all private property. There would be a lot of controversy at first but it makes a lot of sense. The public streets are becoming too unsafe in many parts of the country. White people need a refuge from the black thugs that seem to have emerged in Obama’s presidency.
Let’s face it, the idea that blacks if educated will become as civilized as whites or Asian simply hasn’t worked. None of the civil rights reforms has worked out the way intended. Time to give up.
Or maybe the new technology CRISPR will allow us to edit the nasty parts out of the black genome. Maybe we can gene edit blacks into some new creature that will behave better. At the end of the year there are lots of articles about future. They seem to predict that the future economy is rosy for those with graduate degrees in STEM subjects. Couldn’t agree more with you. Had the exact same experience at the mall today myself. Would not have felt any more out of place in Jamaica or in the middle east. These “teens” have brought the same vibrancy to shopping malls, that they previously brought to our neighborhoods, schools, parks and public transportation systems.
Their effect on shoppers/ shopping is so great that Amazon should consider paying them to frequent malls..

Originally shopping malls were built in the deep suburban areas precisely so that there would be no public transportation to them. The idea was that you would have to have a car to get there and that this would serve to help keep ‘undesirables’ out of them. As soon as any mall lets itself be connected by subway station or light-rail system, crime escalates dramatically.
There are days I think our Tiny might actually be sincere in his protestations!

Actually the British government and military had worked out secret plans for many years prior, with France, to come to her aid in the event of a war with Germany. And Russia was actively undermining Austria-Hungary, Germany’s only major ally on the continent. Even paranoids have enemies.

Niall Ferguson the historian wonders about if the UK had stayed out. Germany would have won. Although the Kaiser was a loon, he was very far from Hitler. Ferguson speculates it would have been hard to turn out worse than actual history proved.

Rambunctious, fighting, violent, and as you appropriately describe them, “mall marauders” of a particular complexion are indeed at least a 20 year old plus phenomena, as seen in this story from 1995.
In December 1995, Cynthia Wiggins, 17, of Buffalo, was struck by a dump truck as she tried to cross a busy seven-lane highway to get to her part-time job in a shopping mall in suburban Cheektowaga, 6 miles from downtown Buffalo, NY. The mall did not permit public buses from Buffalo to stop on its property. Officials from the Transportation Authority revealed that they had repeatedly asked the mall to allow the buses onto the premises, but that the mall had always refused, fearful of rambunctious youths.
Mall officials acknowledged they turned down the transit authority’s repeated requests to allow the Route 6 city bus onto their property, but say they did so to keep out rowdy juveniles, who had been causing problems at a nearby mall and a skating rink. After Ms. Wiggins’s death, the mall opened up its property to public buses, under the threat of a boycott by the Buffalo teachers union and local civil rights groups.
Johnnie Cochran, O. J. Simpson’s former lawyer, came to town to help the family file a $150 million wrongful death suit in State Supreme Court. A suit accusing the mall of causing the teenager’s death through racist transportation practices ended abruptly with a settlement of $2.55 million.

When you have short future-time orientation (as Sub-Saharan West African blacks do), there is no perceived benefit in holding one’s anger, reservedness, and planning ahead. They have been under pressure for years from 'big box' retailers and strip malls -- as well as online.
It was inevitable -- an innovation in retail matures and declines. I find it interesting that they have remained as competitive as they have, as well as resisting major collapse in the C segment and B's as they deal with demographic changes.
It seems like I notice a problem that shows up on the national news every year or so. For quite a while. But so far, they seem to be fairly robust to catastrophic failure. It isn't obvious to me how things will work out. It seems like rebellious youth are holding the cards. But the property owners are extremely motivated to develop adequate security. Plus, even more security cameras. And they are enclosed -- which works both ways. I prefer the hybrid/outdoor style. But an enclosed mall is a disadvantage for crime.

A mall not far from where I live was closed several years ago. While competition from newer malls and shopping areas was a factor in its decline, another factor in its death was “vibrant” youth taking over the mall. Other shoppers decided they didn’t need the grief.

I have ran into zero black men who are easily offended. Sports, the classroom and work. Most black dudes I know are at least somewhat self-depreciating and have a sense of humor. Perhaps I have only been exposed to the talented tenth, or some odd cohorts.
I have been lucky to avoid working often with women so I can’t say much about black chicks but the few I’ve known were not easy to offend.

Anon, The Walden galleria in Cheektowaga is like a nesting grounds for Canadian shoppers, who buy clothes and change in the parking lot for the ride back to Canada. The Mall was built with no easy access to public transportation, that was done on purpose. However, a few years ago a young black woman was struck and killed by a large truck as she tried to cross the 8 lanes of Walden Ave. in front of the Mall. The developers were sued and now a city bus stops on the Mall property. The new Walmart not far fro the Mall on Walden Ave. would not allow bus access onto their property. They have since changed their mind. That Walmart’s shoppers are mostly black.

The second fruit of industrialization is NATURAL RESOURCES. An industrialized economy needs oil, steel, coal, rubber, etc., etc. These are rarely all present within the industrialized country. At the same time, the way to strangle Germany was to deny it access to natural resources. Without a navy, Germany's reaction in both WWI and WWII was to "go East" for natural resources.

Populations explode. The country soon cannot feed its industrial workers. Without a navy, Germany's reaction in both WWI and WWII was to "go East" to obtain food security.
Hence, Germany in WWI and WWII (and Japan in WWII) faced the tough choice of going to war to obtain markets, natural resources, and food security ... or, face an economic implosion and starvation.
Question: What country systematically denied Germany its "place in the Sun" of industrialization in WWI and WWII, leaving it no choice but to go to war? Answer: Great Britain.
Question: What country is now the politically and industrially dominant power on the European continent. Answer: Germany.
Great Britain bankrupted itself trying to forestall that domination in WWI and WWII. In post-WWII Europe, having lost the Royal Navy and its empire, Britain was powerless to act against Germany. Indeed, through the European Union (often called the Fifth Reich), Germany found nothing in place to prevent its reemergence in the most powerful country in Europe. Ironically, the German-dominated EU bears a close resemblance to what Hitler had imagined for Europe, albeit using "soft power" instead of military power to achieve it.
There was a considerable amount of anti-German sentiment in Great Britain prior to World War I. People genuinely believed that Germans masquerading a waiters were secretely planning to assist in a German invasion of England. Germany was, of course, building battleships that appeared to have no other use but to fight the British Navy and attack the east coast of England.
Germany, for reasons I have never quite understood, was absolutely paranoid of Russia--the Russian steamroller. Given the defensive fighting qualities of the German soldier of the time, it's hard to imagine a Russian offensive ending in anything but disaster--as indeed happened at Tannenberg and Masurian Lakes.
And German diplomacy/military strategy had a huge disconnect. Germany had earned the permanent hostility of France by annexing Alsace and Lorraine to gain the favorable defensive terrain. German military strategy (the Schlieffen Plan, as modified) then planned on attacking France, violating Belgian neutrality and bring Great Britain into the war. A German campaign of hold in the west and direct most of the German army against Russia in the event of war might have worked. France suffered stupendous casualties trying unsuccessfully to retake Alsace and Lorraine and when Germany did make Russia the priority, it knocked it out the war.
France would probably have been better off accepting whatever terms Germany offered in 1915 rather than the horrific casualties of Verdun and the Nivelle offensives.

Thank you for clarifying. The most important thing about hatefacts is that they are facts — i.e., they are true. The most important thing about calling black people animals is that it is a poisonous lie. I think your claim that anyone on the left is going to be more offended by the former than by the latter is sorely mistaken. It’s true that many liberals are offense junkies who are impervious to any challenge to their worldview. I know some of those. But there are also liberals who are not impervious; I know some of those too. Plus there are many, many people who are not particularly ideological, but who will cut you off instantly– and I think very understandably — the moment you imply that the nice black person who sits next to them at work is in any way subhuman. I can imagine that with enough work the “Alt-Right” might break through on hatefacts, and I think that would be an enormously positive thing. But black people are not animals, and using language that suggests they are is worse than stupid, it’s evil.
In addition, we need to always be aware that people on both the left and the right have a tendency to enclose themselves in bubbles. I am at least as mistrustful of people on my own side as I am of the other. When someone uses a word like “chimpout” my immediate reaction he is kind of an idiot, and quite possibly motivated by genuine racial hatred. You know the left isn’t always wrong about this — some people on our side really are racists in the bad sense of the word! And the thing is, I don’t trust people like that to get the facts right. I’m sure much of what they have to say it true — ideologues are actually pretty good at finding the truth when it fits their narrative — but I’m just not inclined to go down into the weeds and try to sort it all out.
