  3. All this wokeness will return. You know why? Because so many Good Doggie white guys in positions of power will demand it.

Take Nixon. He could have stood up for his people, but instead, he enforced Brown vs Board of Education, which directly led to White girls being raped and molested. But what mattered to Nixon, was that Good Doggie feeling of “doing the right thing”. So what if a few naive White girls end up pregnant with interracial babies, our modern politicians and media folk get to feel good!

  14. Funniest wikipedia reference ever (Flash Gordon 1954 TV series):

Dixon, noting the similarities between the ideals espoused by “space operas” like Flash Gordon, Captain Video and Rocky Jones, Space Ranger and American Cold War values, argues that such series were designed to instill those values into their young viewers.[46] Flash Gordon, he writes, along with its fellow space operas, “have a common, unifying theme: peace in the universe can be achieved only by dangerous efforts and the unilateral dominance of the Western powers.”[40] This echoes the earlier critique of Soviet writer G. Avarin, who in the Soviet film journal Art of the Cinema had accused Gordon and other space-faring characters of being “the vanguard of a new and greater ‘American imperialism’”.[47]

My opinion on this is that it’s really going to take a full-out SHTF situation before the stupidity stops. I don’t think we’ll get to that with this virus.

The left will not give up easily, as you say. It’ll need to be where most people are worried about their next few meals and their shelter before this stuff goes away. At that point people will no longer want to listen to the lefty PC complaints, and those people will be told politely to STFU.

Nobody wants to see that situation, but it least that is a silver lining.

  25. The big 21×21 weekend crossword puzzle in the New York Times usually makes use of some clever trick. The trick in the puzzle of March 14, 2020 was to include cells * that are read horizontally as SALT and vertically as its chemical symbol NaCl (sodium chloride). For example, the horizontal entry WITHAGRAINOF* (clued as “How to take glib promises”) crosses with the vertical entry PIN*E (clued as “Peak”). Southerners should have tried something that worked well in the north and west– segregation. I mean real segregation, not the bogus across-the-tracks kind, where Jemima comes around in the morning to spit in cook your food, and walks home at six.

A lady from a Georgia county north of Atlanta told me her grandfather helped remove all the blacks from that jurisdiction. She didn’t know how, exactly, but was sure he did. The interracial rape rate there would have been very low.

That’s why the mountain counties sided with the Union. They believed in the separation of the races, as did Lincoln.

Erik Agard is about as close as it comes. He’s pretty good at making them, part of the younger vanguard.

Crosswords are, like classical music, inherently conservative. It takes a while for “wokeness” to work its way into them. Thing is, many references either offend the older solvers, or they offend the younger ones.

(“Crosswordese” offends both. I’m wearing an Elon U hoodie tonight, because it was once considered crosswordese. The college was obscure, and thus unfit for the better puzzles. But ELON is back in force now, what with the rise of Mr Musk.)

Don’t worry. Now that pop culture, trademarks, and other once-forbidden references are allowed in, there is still a lot of room for creativity.

A good place to see what the younger constructors/compilers/setters are up to is the AV Club:

I did many of theirs when I could get The Onion.

There are cultural as well as age differences. NIGGARD appeared in the Financial Times cryptic, at 5 Down, on March 2:

While the individual you responded-to may very well be unreasonably Jew-obsessed, can you deny the existence of the double-standard that he pointed-out?

Certainly, neither all Jews (Zionist or not) nor all Zionists (Jewish or not) are guilty of this double-standard. Many in each respective category are either consistently pro or consistently anti nationalist/border-enforcement/natalist. But can you deny that there are far too many Jews and Zionists who are pro- nationalist/border-enforcement/natalist for the Zionist State and/or Jews while they condemn the very same sentiments, positions and policies when non-Jewish Whites dare to assert them for themselves?

I am on record as an Orthodox Jew who has disavowed and condemned the type of hypocrisy I have enumerated above. I have also pointed-out that the Jews who are culpable and complicit in it are overwhelmingly secular,

irreligious and even anti-religious, heretical and apostates. The same is true for such scourges as “LGBTQ” insanity; feminism; demonization of non-cosmopolitan Whites; immigration; and tolerance of non-White crime. Yes, (secular) Jews are disproportionately (but not exclusively) represented among those promoting such cancers but they are (a) also promoted by plenty of non-Jews; (b) not supported by all or even necessarily most Jews (how many members of any group are politically active at all?); (c) are not consistent with (authentic) /Judaism/ (and in many cases explicitly /violate/ it).

Luke Ford is but one of what of any number of individuals who have pointed-out that with the partial exceptions of abortion and explicit attacks upon Christianity, per se, just about every major, mainstream Christian organization holds the same Leftist and Woke positions as their Jewish counterparts.

My response to those who rightfully decry these truly pernicious policies and trends is that confronting, exposing and refuting them directly and substantively would be far more credible and effective than focusing on the religious, racial, ethnic or national identities of those promoting them. (Of course, to do the former requires far more intellectual heft and effort than resorting-to simply naming and blaming Jews. And does not offer the same quick and easy psychological gratification that the latter clearly does for many.)

(One of the reasons why I have directed so much of my attention and energies to the specific area, perhaps more than any other, of “LGBTQ” degeneracy, is that I have found it to perhaps be the single one for which even most of those who are on the right side of reality and decency are woefully unprepared to respond adequately to the slick, highly effective propaganda that the other side has wielded so effectively to their advantage.)

Interesting to note: natalist is not in Firefox’s spell-checker dictionary.

They’re the “American” kind. ( “Gridiron”?) Invented by a Liverpudlian, Arthur Wynne, at the New York World. (A much better legacy than that of the New York press’s other Liverpudlian, Walter Duranty.)

Cryptics were developed from these in the UK about a decade later, mostly by one Edward Powys Mathers, a.k.a. Torquemada.

Not exactly true. But what is true is that black performers must be inserted into whatever is popular.

The original Star Wars had exactly zero blacks in it. The second movie had one, Billy Dee Williams. The 11th Star Wars, The Rise of Skywalker, had at least one black character in every single shot of the final scene (the victory celebration in whatever crummy park they were shooting in). Probably 6 or 7 separate black actors total. Not many Hispanics or Asians, but gotta have half a dozen blacks, to keep them from rioting.

  53. @Expletive Deleted

If one is interested in touching someone’s hair, and it is appropriate for one to touch that hair, one simply touches the hair. If it is not appropriate one refrains, despite any interest, and keeps silent.

I have known many a beautiful woman whose hair I should like to touch. Yet if I met Kate Upton at a cocktail party, however alluring her hair might be, I would never ask her to touch it, any more than I would ask to touch her always alluring breasts. She and I are both married to other people, and we do not know each other at all: it is inappropriate for me to touch her hair. (Barbers and stylists are exempt from these protocols for the same reasons physicians are exempt from protocols about looking at naked people.)

In this respect the touching of hair is much like kissing. No one asks “May I kiss you?” (if you have to ask, you almost certainly may not).

I sometimes gently run my hand through my tiny son’s hair to help him fall asleep, as does my wife (she used to do this when nursing him, so he still finds it a very calming thing). People with older children often lovingly tousle a child’s hair. As might uncles, coaches, and teachers, where the relationship makes it appropriate. Girls often braid and otherwise play with the hair of their close friends. Lovers run their hands through each other’s hair. Likewise we all kiss our children and our lovers (not with the same motivations or techniques!). But we don’t ask for permission. The girls might (“Want me to braid your hair, Sally?”) but that context is more akin to one’s barber asking if one would care for a hot shave; it’s not about permission, or even touching hair as such.

Creepy Joe is a great example, by the way, of the bad behaviour – even when well-intentioned – of some adults toward children. Hectoring your child to “give Gramma (or Aunt Flo, or Uncle Joe, etc.) a kiss!” is not psychologically healthy for that child.
