I think you’re giving the mayor too much credit. It was the White* Republican governor that called up the National Guard. Mayor Keishsa held a news conference and pronounced an Ilhan Omarish “Some people with some weapons…” statement. Why does the Mayor of Atlanta want to put an end to mostly peaceful protests? As I understand things, that makes her a Fascist.
I wonder where they could have gotten the idea that cars approaching them were highly likely to be far-right terrorists intent on doing harm? It’s not like the media or Twitter trending bar with added ‘context’ gives the impression that there have been many of these incidents.
So far all the car incidents have been by non-whites or immigrants and none seems to have been deliberate.

Many liberal cities embraced environmental/behaviorism nearly full heartedly starting in the 1940s and that utterly destroyed their inner cities respectively.

It looks better and better every day. My son has a silicon valley job but works from home due to the Covid-19. The truth is he could do exactly what he does now but in a place where he could afford to own a home and have a family. The Midwest is also a great place for FIRE companies to keep their back offices. The cost of labor is much less than on the coasts and the quality is probably just as good or better.
The only thing some of them have going for them is that there's lots of young people around so they are good places to meet a spouse. But, because of the gender imbalance, SV is not so great for that. Even in New York, where the gender imbalance goes the other way, having too many options seems to stunt people's ability to just pick and settle down. The biological clock isn't as unforgiving for men as it is for women, but ideally as a male you want to start having kids before you turn 30, in my opinion.

Agree. I did live in a very high cost of living area for a few years while working for a big company, and while the city had lots of cool amenities I was too broke to enjoy any of them. I was also too broke for a house or even a non bug-infested apartment. Even though New York and San Francisco and these sorts of places are in theory great places to be young, in practice they’re pretty miserable for most young people.
The only thing some of them have going for them is that there’s lots of young people around so they are good places to meet a spouse. But, because of the gender imbalance, SV is not so great for that. Even in New York, where the gender imbalance goes the other way, having too many options seems to stunt people’s ability to just pick and settle down. The biological clock isn’t as unforgiving for men as it is for women, but ideally as a male you want to start having kids before you turn 30, in my opinion.

America's midwestern cities in general do not have stunning geographical amenities--though a Great Lakes shoreline isn't terrible--in terms of beauty, recreation or climate. But if cities were allowed to choose to be non-diverse, that could be quite an impressive amenity in itself. I travel all over the country for work, and one of the most interesting and under-appreciated cities is Cincinnati, weather is much more milder than let’s say Des Moines, beautiful hills/rivers/lakes all around, bourbon, food, and even some upcoming wineries. Cincinnati does have its urban undertow but its very contained, those areas were were gentrified. Looking at Cincinnati downtown at night from across the river in Kentucky you might think you are in the bay area. Coincidentally Cincinnati area I believe is the only one that is completely represented by Republicans in congressional delegation still. If I was looking to relocate to middle America, Cincy would be my top choice.

Whatever the attractions of Cincinnati (personally I was not impressed) you don’t go there for the wine. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Slaves were such valuable property that the South was willing to start a war over them. Slave labor paid for all of those ante-bellum mansions. While the productivity of slave labor was probably lower than that of free labor, the wages that they paid (nothing, just the bare minimum expenses to provide them with food and minimal shelter) were even lower so it must have been profitable. If free labor was more profitable then they would have hired free labor, but they didn’t.
Now you or I might not pay 2 cents for a Negro (putting aside whether it would be moral or ethical to own one), certainly not the violent Negroes of today, but the historical record is that the market price of blacks in the South was quite high, even higher than the rewards that were cited. Instead no matter where you go ... there is "diversity" making the place sub-optimal.
America's midwestern cities in general do not have stunning geographical amenities--though a Great Lakes shoreline isn't terrible--in terms of beauty, recreation or climate. But if cities were allowed to choose to be non-diverse, that could be quite an impressive amenity in itself. Even a fairly boring place--e.g. Des Moines--if it were able to say "Hey we're going to be white city" that could make it a pretty pleasing place to live even though winter sucks, summer isn't great and there's nothing much of geographic interest there.
It would be goodness if every political subdivision was free to enforce its own residency requirements. Big metros could have suburbs that had there own particular--and stable--ethnic characters. People who wanted "mixed" could get that. People who wanted their own thing, of whatever flavor--white, black, Jewish, Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Arab, Irish, German, Lutheran, Catholic, homosexual, normal, etc. etc. ... could find that.

I wouldn’t vest local governments with a franchise to set residency requirements. I would vest companies and voluntary association with that right. What we have now is a system where no one can associate except per the say so of attorneys, who have poisonous standards which grant plenary indulgences to some sectors of the population and grant no discretion to others.
