THE HYPOCRISY and sanctimony playing out over the corporate media outlets about Putin’s savagery is galling. For example, on Feb. 28, Sean Hannity proclaimed that a murdering thug of a leader who invades a sovereign country and kills innocent people needs to know that he will be forthrightly removed. Mark Esper, Trump’s defense secretary, concurred. “For the sake of what is decent in the world,” seconded Sen. Ben Cardin, a Democrat, Putin must be taken out.

Putin is savage alright, and his is a war of aggression. But how dare we?!

Remember the little Iraqi boy with a charred torso? ( Uncle Sam did that.

What about this armless Iraqi child and thousands like him?

Did Putin disarm him? No; an American-dropped dumb bomb did. ( )

Look at little Shakira, a Pakistani tot “burned beyond recognition by a U.S. drone and left for dead in a trashcan.” ( ) There were thousands of these children, every bit as precious as Ukraine’s.

If Putin belongs in the Hague’s International Court of Justice, so do Genghis Bush, Dick Cheney, Condi Rice and their countless culprits. Colin Powell is already in the Hadean afterworld for his role in the invasion of Iraq.

America is still the undisputed leader in attacking sovereign nations and killing their kids. Russia’s foreign meddling since the early 1990s is insignificant by comparison.

Nevertheless, it is always asserted, never argued, that the difference between, say, a Putin invasion and an American one is that the latter is by good people for good causes. Alas, the broken children we’ve shown you, now adults, have not regrown their limbs. Iraq has been destroyed for good. Not counting the number of refugees displaced internally or exiled, children orphaned, women widowed, people plunged into permanent poverty, birth defects and environmental contamination—between 183,535 and 206,107 Iraqis were killed directly due to the unprovoked American invasion. This estimation is a most conservative one. Likewise, Libya is a failed state with a vibrant slave-trade. Who can argue with such a record of moral superiority?

Another insult to the intelligence is to have to endure conga lines of cretins expatiating on foreign policy—from Fox’s Harold Ford to Gillian Turner to Kayleigh McEnany—when we still have Pat Buchanan. The wise and brilliant Pat has borne witness to the events of history that have shaped the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, has chronicled the run-up to this war of aggression and repeatedly and futilely counselled on how to avoid it:

We were warned. Surround Russia with NATO members, refuse to negotiate in good faith and Putin will go to war. Yet, the stance on both sides of the Atlantic has been dismissive, even contemptuous, of Putin’s reasonable, long-standing security concerns. Writes Buchanan:

“When Russia’s Vladimir Putin demanded that the U.S. rule out Ukraine as a future member of the NATO alliance, the U.S. archly replied: NATO has an open-door policy. Any nation, including Ukraine, may apply for membership and be admitted. We’re not changing that.”

Certainly, the U.S. has remained wedded to an ever-accreting, ever-inclusive, open-door, liberal vision of NATO membership. What for? Cui bono?

Indubitably, good-faith negotiations with Putin could have averted the invasion of Ukraine. Instead, the president of the Russian Federation was discounted and demeaned. Now, the failed leaders responsible should be made to eat their words.

There is something utterly obscene—as rudely shocking as the front-row viewing of the “Shock and Awe” visited on Iraq—about watching the displacement of people and the destruction of innocent lives in real time, on television, without lending a hand.

And I don’t mean a military hand.

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky—who is the toast of the town simply because he did not skedaddle from the mess in which he mired his country—to this ass with ears goes a special award for recklessness. Not fleeing a situation largely of your making does not a hero make. Curiously, we Americans have offered Zelensky the coward’s way out, when we ought to have forced him to sit down with his foes.

Granted, America, as British paleolibertarian Sean Gabb quips, is “some kind of zombie apocalypse plus nuclear weapons that might not yet be past its use-by date. It has not won a war against an equally-matched power since it defeated itself in 1865.” However degraded, the onus is on the USA, the only so-called responsible superpower, to calmly negotiate with Putin on behalf of his innocent, weak victims. Instead, world leaders watch the suffering on TV and bemoan the fate of the sufferers. Both sides are a disgrace and a failure to have brought us thus far. Ditto NATO and the EU.

This is precisely what President Joe Biden should be shamed into doing now: talk to Putin; thrash out a cease-fire, ASAP; haggle for the lives of the population under siege because led by imbeciles.

Ukrainians, for their part, are tireless and wily lobbyists in Washington, way more cunning than their American counterparts. To all intents and purposes, Zelensky, head of the corrupt American client statelet that is Ukraine, had tethered the fate of his country to America, NATO and the EU, constantly trying to bend these foolish and feckless entities to his will; too much of a clown to look out for his countrymen’s safety, rather than his own popularity in the West.

Having sat out the ‘67 and ‘73 wars in Israeli bomb shelters—I still remember what old-school diplomacy and statesmanship—realpolitik—sounded like. Diplomatic tools like substantive talks, a cease-fire, and an agreement between warring sides, however, have been absent from the repertoire of the two tools, Presidents Biden and Zelensky.

Good old realpolitik is what Zelensky should have been practicing with his powerful neighbors and historic brethren, the Russians.

Realpolitik is practical politics, the art of getting along, differences and all, in a real world in which reality, including the differences between people and their political systems, is accepted and dealt with.

Contrary to proclamations, it is not a moral foreign policy that America practices but a moralistic one. Be like us or we’ll destroy you! Instead of realpolitik, Zelensky adopted America’s moralistic, impolitic, uppity manners. It took a war to get Zelensky to the negotiating table with Putin, where he ought to have been from the start.

LASTLY, what had to drive the Russian Bear to distraction is the daily demented “Russia, Russia” monomania emanating from America.

The antiquated electrical grid fails. Russia. Birds fall out of the sky. Russia. Americans loathe each other. Russia. Democracy is a farce and a failure. Russia. Deplorables won an election. Russia. Deplorables elected a president: a Russian. A young and flighty Russian girl, Maria Butina, arrives in the country full of faith in the American system. She flirts with US law makers, slips between the sheets with some. “A spy,” we shriek! Jail her! Break the wanton waif! And, we did.

I believe that this dangerous, endless, and mostly baseless, barrage of bullying and berating finally helped push Putin over the edge.

Again, I grew up in Israel in a time when that country was, like Russia, vilified across the world. For the U.N. it was a daily ritual, a morning prayer, to open each session with a vote to condemn Israel’s very existence. With a difference: Israel had the United States. It had the steady support of America. Russia is like South Africa, my birthplace, a friendless pariah. The ostensibly civilized world wishes its demise. As kids we felt only hatred for such a world that would heap hate upon us. South Africans felt the same. I can only imagine what Russians must feel when they hear every ignorant American TV twit talk non-stop bull’s wool about their country.

  1. @Ilana, fantastic summary, FULL DISCLOSURE of the WHOLE TRUTH regarding the Ukrain confilict.
Media and politicians do an amazing job covering up the main issue: the clear path to peacefully ending the war

Even Tucker Carlson and Nigel Farage don’t mention the understandable Realpolitik demands of Putins and Bidens and Zelensky’s total refusal.

The total blackout of vital parts of the truth is brainwashing the entire population into delivering more arms to cause more bloodshed. No mention of simply giving Putin what he requested.

Our unique and untiring focus is COMPLETE TRUTHFULNESS. Thanks for doing your part spreading disseminating truth to counter brainwashing.

Russia’s Ukraine war: NATO membership or death! The WHOLE TRUTH vs. media cover-up

It is the right of Ukraine to prefer utter destruction and death to neutrality. But it is NOT the right of media and politicians to lie, to pretend that there was no possible peaceful solution.Rather, Ukraine, knowingly, prefers war, death and destruction rather than a commitment to neutrality. Ukraine, USA, and NATO choose to outright reject Putin’s demand to a neutral Ukraine with assurance for Ukraine to never join NATO.

  3. The US “has not won a war against an equally-matched power since it defeated itself in 1865.”

One of the best quotes I’ve heard in a long time, thank you.

And of course it must be added that the US doesn’t even do too well against opponents who are supposedly totally overpowered and outgunned by the world’s largest and most heavily funded military.

We’re denied even the dubious pride of being citizens of a successful warmongering empire. Why set yourself up to be universally hated if you can’t even commit to being good at it?

Surveying the news, this is what we know about the war in Ukraine:
Russian forces are bogged down, Russian troops don’t want to fight, Ukraine is striking the bogged down Russians with jet attacks, Ukraine’s soldiers are fighting bravely. OR

Russian forces are advancing slowly and methodically to keep casualties low (esp, among civilians). Several Russian columns are cutting off and surrounding the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian soldiers are giving up.

The truth of the situation will only be sorted out after the fighting stops (and sometimes not even then – consider the WWII falsehoods that are still taken as gospel). I suspect that news number two is closest to the truth, given the disparity of forces involved and the unreliability of the sources hawking version number one. The \$64,000 question for me is: when the Russians have completed their victorious ground assault, will the consequence be an insurgency by Ukrainians? There are those who believe the CIA has already prepared just such an insurgency. It would be a bloody disaster for Ukraine.

  13. Ms. Mercer is a top-notch intellect and excellent writer. I am ashamed of my country and disgusted by the Euro weenies who refuse to extricate themselves from America’s “Iron Heel,” (a novel by Jack London).

The worst example has been limp-wristed neocon Lindsay Graham, who has called for Putin’s assassination. Unless the CIA takes him out (which is a possibility) who is to say that he won’t be replaced by a real Nationalist who will double down on the war, disregarding Putin’s niceties. I’ll bet that Putin has been reprimanded for 500 Russian war dead already – mostly because he didn’t want to destroy Ukraine’s infrastructure.

If Putin was Hitler, (a ridiculous comparison), he wouldn’t have waited for 8 long years after the CIA-directed Kiev junta to take military action against NATO encroachment into Russia’s underbelly. Some, like PC Roberts, say he waited too long. Years of fruitless diplomacy got him nowhere, while thousands of ethnic Russians were killed in the Donbass. Machiavelli said: “There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed TO THE ADVANTAGE OF OTHERS.”

For those of you who continually change the subject and take jabs at Ilana’s ethnicity, I have two words: GROW UP!

When she writes this sort of tribute to Israel I have to be suspicious of her motives in general. All the human rights organizations have reported that Israel is carrying out apartheid against the Palestinians just like South Africa did against blacks. Instead of pointing out that Israel is like South Africa she is saying that Russia is like South Africa. One has to question her goals. I have noticed that several of her articles take obscure routes to compliment Israel.

  15. @Sollipsist

The South had a white population of around 5.5 million vs. 20 million in the North. Northern GDP was probably 5x that of the South. So I am not sure it’s even fair to say the Confederacy was an “equal match” for the North.

Wise words and a succinct analysis.

Putin, much like Trump, symbolizes ethnic, and, or, racially based, nationalism, and must therefore be crushed by tptb. (And I have to emphasize ‘symbolizes’ here in the case of those two.) As Zelensky’s nationalistic Ukraine, such as it is, is momentarily useful if only to kick start WWIII, it is cynically temporarily allowed to exist and is encouraged by the United States.

Some insight into this thinking can be found in the excerpt below from the 1853 US geo-political book, The New Rome. It provides a description (as it’s two authors saw it) of America’s revolutionary global mission and program, and the inherent hostility it contains within it to any type of collectivism, in particular, that of nationalism. ‘Individualism’ is it’s mantra. Italics in original.

‘It is the duty of the American party to combat all European traditions which are incompatible with Americanism; but, above all, that of nationality. To vindicate individualism against nationality, is the office of America. This is, at the same time, the whole force and scope of the revolution; thus, the revolution which arose in and with America, must for ever return to it; and America, which began in revolution, must live in it, and end with it. When the dominion of nationality is crushed, and the sovereignty of the individual is attained, everywhere and everyhow, the missions of the revolution and of America will both be accomplished.’ The New Rome; or, the United States of the World (1853) – pg 71

For it’s remarkable prescience and insight, I can’t recommend reading the mid-19th century New Rome enough. Though a bit dry in places, all the same, its well worth the time spent.

Below are a couple of excerpts from the book detailing the future evolution of US/Russian relations. [This is to take place immediately following a described succesful move by the US/UK to conquer and consolidate control over continental Europe’s center of power (ie specifically Germany) for itself, and having unleashed a ‘world’s war’ upon the Earth in the process.]

Expected developments in aviation technology, and US domination of the same, is to give the United States the upper hand in the coming great struggle with a ‘despotic’ Russia which is outlined.

‘Thus the lines are drawn. The choirs are marshalled on each wing of the world’s stage, Russia leading the one, the United States the other. Yet the world is too small for both, and the contest must end in the downfall of the one and the victory of the other.’ The New Rome; or, the United States of the World (1853) – pg 109

‘It [air power] will give us the victory over Russian continentalism…American air-privateers will be down upon the Russian garrisons, to use our own expressive slang, ‘like a parcel of bricks.’ The New Rome; or, the United States of the World (1853) – pg 156

Wasn’t missed. Though Euro peoples for the time being are indeed getting the brunt of the so called ‘progressive’ multicultural anti-race attack (euphemistically referred to as ‘anti-racism’), the bulk of the other peoples of the world in time will get the same treatment. They just haven’t gotten to them…yet.

The progressive sorts don’t like, or, can’t deal, with the fact that races and ethnicities do indeed exist. Rather than deal with that reality and work with in it, they try to genocide/destroy these groups by ‘mixing’ them away.

  22. @Ronnie

[T]he facilitation of Israeli crimes and injustice is a significant part of our US hypocrisy.

This is undeniably true. It’s unfortunate that Ms. Mercer–a gifted writer–still clings to the all-purpose Jewish persecution narrative while 1) Israel continues its slow-motion annihilation/expulsion of its native gentile population and 2) Jew-centered NGO’s orchestrate ruthless US and NATO expansions/wars to suit global-Zionist objectives, and 3) Jewish financiers and power brokers routinely cruise above the law from Hollywood to DC to Wall Street to Jerusalem. The evidence is there and it is compelling. Jewish exceptionalism means never having to say you’re sorry–or even play by the rules.

So Mercer prefers to keep her Jewish blinders on, even citing the Seven day War (1967) which Israel initiated via its preemptive (and sneak) air-born attack on Egypt and Syria. This is not to say that Israel didn’t have reasons to fear its Arab neighbors, but this national nervousness can surely be applied to Russia’s ‘existential threat’ from the incremental NATOization of Ukraine.

Significantly, the vast (moral) difference seen between these two disparate (and foreign) wars is primarily a product of duplicitous Jewish influence and raw Zionist power. But in the end, it amounts to this ‘centrist’ position: Israel good. Russia bad.

    How absurd.

But don’t hold your breath waiting for Mercer to acknowledge this fact.

Mercer’s strategic oversights are a common phenomena among (((neoconservatives))). It fits a pattern (as well as the paradigm delineated by Kevin MacDonald.) Jewish deception. Jewish dishonesty. Jewish subversion. And the best deceivers are self-deceivers.

Mercer’s strategic blind-spot surely gives her status among fellow right-wing Jews, not to mention cred with various useful idiots in the larger world.

But her grave omissions and tacit embrace of double standards (which invariably advantage Israel) are also a telling expression of contemporary Jewish intellectual dishonesty.
