The New York Times reported this week that “New York threatens Orthodox Jewish areas with Lockdown over virus.” The Times reports that, facing a worrying spike in coronavirus cases in Orthodox Jewish neighbourhoods, New York City health officials began this week carrying out emergency inspections at private Jewish orthodox schools.

NY State officials released statistics showing that the positivity rate in some Orthodox Jewish neighbourhoods had grown to anywhere from 3 percent to 6 percent, significantly more than the city’s overall rate of between 1 percent and 2 percent. This means that Covid 19 spreads within the Orthodox Jewish community at a rate about 3-6 times higher than other New Yorkers.

Those who follow the spread of Covid amongst the Jewish community aren’t surprised by these findings. Back in April the Jewish press admitted that “British Jews are overrepresented by a factor of eight in their country’s death toll from COVID-19.” Surely this overrepresentation should have been an alarming bit of information. Yet this fact was hardly covered by British press for reasons I suspect you can guess. The Times of Israel, however, attempted to offer some explanation for the anomaly. The Israeli outlet referenced the failure “to observe social distancing protocols at some Haredi Orthodox synagogues and institutions…People are touching the same surfaces, the same siddurim (prayer books).”

The Jewish State that performed very well in limiting the virus in the period from March –May and saw few deaths, is now the reddest country in the world, ahead of all other countries in its Covid 19 infectious rate. Presently the Jewish State identifies between seven to nine thousand new cases a day, a number that is much higher than Britain’s which has a population six times that of Israel.

Earlier this week the Jewish State released a demographic study of Covid 19 case distribution within different segments of its population. The data revealed that while in the general population the rate of positive tests has not yet exceeded 10%, among the ultra-Orthodox the percentage of positive tests is no less than 26%. More than a quarter of Israel’s Orthodox Jews tested are ‘infected.’

What is it about Orthodox Jews and corona? This question can be addressed from a theological point of view, why is God tormenting his favourite and most dedicated matzo-balls, turning their society into a covid hub?

Of course it is possible that God is acting as he has throughout the Jewish past, and is punishing his chosen children for one reason or another. Orthodox Jews are fatalistic about their fortunes, and accept their deity’s master plan for the world. Back in March, at the peak of the Covid 19 crisis an Israeli Rabbi expressed these ideas in the clearest form. In a peculiar video that some may interpret as a parody, the Orthodox Rabbi urged his followers not to worry about the corona virus as “the benevolent father looks after his children”… “The corona,” he said “is for the Goyim not for the people of Israel.”

ORDER IT NOW

Another explanation for the high rate of infection among Orthodox Jews is that the almighty actually uses his much-loved sons and daughters as distributors of the virus, most probably because God, being reasonable and scientific, doesn’t believe in Fauci’s or Bill Gate’s vaccine fantasies. By this logic, God must also believe in herd immunity. If the notion and the science of herd immunity is valid, the Orthodox Jewish community is closer than any other group in approaching such protection. Under this theory of Covid 19, the Orthodox Jews may not be ‘the Light onto the Nations’ but actually the “Light unto the Covid.”

There is also a scientific and social explanation for the growing saturation of Covid cases within the Jewish community. It appears that, in general, Orthodox Jews refrain from social distancing and/or refuse to wear facemasks. They do not take the Covid hysteria very seriously. This can be explained. Haredi Jews follow their religion in the strictest possible manner. They are devoted to their own legalistic code (Halacha Law). When there is a conflict or even a clash between the Jewish law and the civil laws of their host nation, Jewish Law is prioritised and, if necessary, the civil law is ignored. For example, that is the reason Orthodox Jewish institutions do not see themselves as obligated to follow any ‘gender equality’ LGBTQ or other current ‘multicultural decrees.’

The same applies to Covid 19. The Orthodox Jews follow their own religion, and strictly observe the laws of their not so merciful God. Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates and Neil Ferguson will have to work much harder on their credibility before the Rabbis notice their existence!

Of course, due to their religious culture and the clannish nature of the Jewish orthodox ghetto as well as their characteristic extended family cell and cross generational environment, Orthodox society is prone to spreading Covid amongst themselves. They are clearly disproportionately infected which seems to be a great concern to the people who live around them and feel threatened by this fact.

The practical meaning of their rate of infection is that the Orthodox Jewish quarters in the USA, Britain and, of course, Israel may soon be the safest places as far as Covid 19 is concerned, as these communities that are suffocated with cases are closer than anyone else to herd immunity. The likelihood of this peculiar result is supported by the fact that despite the rapidly rising number of cases within the Orthodox community, the rate of Covid death is dropping to statistically infinitesimal proportions. The meaning of it is that this society appears to be reaching the necessary collective immunity. Maybe we can stop looking at Sweden that is clearly doing well at the moment and start to look at the Jewish ghetto as these segregated religious communities have a very interesting Covid story to tell.

  1. Hmm…

If the ultra-orthodox are especially likely to be infected, perhaps we could demand that they wear some form of conspicuous identification?

…purely as a public health measure, of course. Only until the virus vanishes.

…around here, whenever one enters a hospital or clinic, one is asked if one has experienced fever, etc in the last three weeks (the correct answer is ‘no.’) Perhaps people should also be asked if they are Orthodox Jews.

  3. I’m sure it’s an extremely sensitive issue. It’s one thing to jail a guy who insists on throwing parties — that fits nicely with the Puritan/Orwellian ‘no fun’ thread of US culture. And of course it’s open season on Christian gatherings; we barely need an excuse anymore to deny their religious rights.

But making a point to go after a Jewish community is the kind of thing that gives politicians nightmares. It’s a no-win scenario. They either open themselves up to antisemitism charges, or they leave them alone — and at best get hammered for obvious double-standards (obviously not too big of a deal if they can rationalize BLM mass gatherings into the critical memory hole) or at worst end up with inarguable evidence that the health measures can be ignored with minimal impact.

Jew influence of civil society has been going on for a long time…

There is one common denominator–the “elephant in the room” that most people are loathe to name, either out of fear of being called “anti-semitic”, racist, or other derogatory term-the jews… I don’t care…

I came of age during the first so-called “civil-rights” movement and saw for myself the underhanded dealings, the demonization of decent, law-abiding whites, and in general, the deterioration of civil society.

Almost all of the “civil-rights” workers and demonstration “handlers” were of one persuasion–New York based leftist communist jews.

They cared not one wit about true “civil rights”, but were there to create hate and discontent among their black charges (who were too stupid or naive to see that they were being used to suborn and destroy legitimate government and society–a favorite communist tactic).

These New York-based “carpetbaggers” fomented their hate and discontent, only to become future “civil-rights” attorneys, race-hustlers, and America-hating leftist communists.

The so-called “non-violent civil-rights demonstrations” were anything but “non-violent”. Robberies, rapes, and other criminal acts were common, but never reported, as even the “mainstream media” was “in on the game” and conveniently turned off their cameras during the acts of violence. You see, even then,”creating crises” was a part of the agenda.

The “beginning of the end” of America was the use of federal troops against white Americans, which, in itself was a violation of “posse commitatus”–the prohibition on the use of federal troops for domestic “law enforcement” purposes.

As most whites were (and still are) law-abiding, they (we) were “steamrollered” by the use of federal troops to crush honest dissent. We never recovered from those unconstitutional actions. It was all downhill from there…

The word ‘case’ needs to be banished. In the old days a ‘case’ was someone who was ill. Now it means you got a positive PCR test, which may have used 40 amplification cycles and is registering a tiny fragment of some virus as a ‘positive’. This is why a paw-paw fruit in Tanzania received a positive when ‘it’ was given the test. From now on talk about deaths (even that is massively padded) ‘assigned’ to Covid, or hospitalizations. The fact that there are massive ‘second waves’ … of cases in European countries with NO or tiny increases in deaths, should tell you something.

  7. Tony Hall says:

Shouldn’t we be past the point where we accept government reporting at face value on the number of cases and number of deaths? There is no reliable test or no standardized method of deciding what is or isn’t an actual case. Death rates are notoriously inflated by treating deaths with COVID-19 as deaths from COVID-19.

This discussion concerning an important legal case in Ohio well illuminates the various sorts of government fraud and journalistic malpractice taking place. Time to become really litigious in the face of officialdom’s lies that have overturned the economic, mental, and social viability of many millions of victims.

Australia, like all other countries, was provided by China with the DNA sequence of the COVID-19 virus in the first half of January, 2020. That’s why Australia has done extremely poorly by having an infection total per million around 16 times higher than China’s. It should have been lower.

We’ve done about 20 times better than the USA but that’s a low hurdle to jump. If you want to play with the big boys, you have to play against the big boys not the kindergarten kids.

By the way, China has eliminated community transmission and Australia is close. The USA? Not so much. No NATO country has done better than hopeless and neither has Russia, Belarus, Ukraine nor Iran. [email protected]

Do you have a reference to substantiate this claim Gilad?

The overall stats for Israel’s population don’t seem to bear it out (COVID-19 cases, deaths and case fatality rate). There may have been a modest decline in case fatality rate as in some other countries, but not close to the dramatic decline implied by your comment. But perhaps you have data specific to the orthodox jews within Israel? If so, please share it.

This matters, because everyone and his dog seems to have an opinion about the pandemic, and many speak with great authority and no trace of humility. It is important the discussion remains grounded in fact. Hyperbole isn’t useful. That means caution in making assertions and willingness to back up any claims that are made with credible sources.

Interesting, BTW, that your article makes no mention at all of Palestine or Palestinians. Other than Israeli Arabs, they are not even included in the occupiers’ statistics.

The Palestinians are becoming an invisible people with an unknown plight, Apartheid is working smoothly, much more than in South Africa. No opponent of South African apartheid in the 1960s, 70s or 80s would have written an article about a health crisis in that country without making any mention at all of the non-white population! Of course you’re assuming your governments and institutions and media are well-intentioned and care the slightest bit about public health, which they certainly do not. On the contrary, literally every single thing they’ve done has been the opposite of what should have been done.

What’s fascist is to use the pretext of this mild epidemic to drum up a propaganda campaign based on psychological terrorism in order to escalate the police state and terrorize the masses into a state of abject conformity including pressuring their own dissenting members to conform, all toward technocratic-totalitarian goals.

But perhaps you possess some supernatural and prophetic powers so that you can predict what joys are awaiting us in the future.”

I don’t claim to possess supernatural powers, just some knowledge of ecology and epidemiology. But evidently you subscribe to Dominion theology, given your delusions about the ability of your government and media to control anything with forcible violent segregation and sterilization measures. These always have failed in every context, and they will fail here. This delusional Dominionism is the basis of the entire lockdown paradigm, to the extent this ever really was intended to control the virus, as opposed to controlling the people.

To say again, none of your stupid measures will prevent the virus from completing its natural cycle and attaining herd immunity. Whatever proportion of the population ends up having been infected, that’s what the proportion will be. Nothing your institutions can do can stop it, even if they really cared about stopping it, which they do not as is proven by their persistence in exactly the wrong measures.

As for the death wish, that’s you and your death cult, all morbidly reveling in the idea of death-by-Covid, all enacting a pantomime of death on a daily basis, right down to your cult rituals of masking and hex spacing, all toward the pretense that you and your fellow humans really are the undead.

As for the few who remain human like myself, we’re doing our best to continue living as human beings amid your global Jonestown cult.

Or is he a loathsome, despicable abomination — an embarrassment to mankind in general — if not necessarily womankind?

Certainly I’d never want my son to grow up to be like ol’ Alan. How about you, Fran? Would you be proud of him if he were your son?

It’s pretty comic — or would be, if our reaction wasn’t producing so many catastrophic side-effects.

Here in my county in Oregon, I’d calculate about a thousand people must have died from all causes in the eight months since this psychosis started. Just statistically, that’s what it would work out to.

Of those deaths, zero (0) have been attributed to the Corona Virus. So you can have a heart attack, or die in an auto wreck, or eat yourself to death, or fall off a ladder. Perhaps someone even accidentally electrocuted themselves.

But going by the local experience, forget about the Corona Virus. It won’t work.

Herd immunity is the golden calf of the numerous fools that is intended to make our lives miserable. Yes we will all get eventually infected and everyone will be fine, three times halellujah. It will be fine in Africa, where there are not enough hospitals to take care of anyone.

If you can count till hundred, perhaps even thousand, then you can easily work out that you will need on average about 550000 new cases per day to infect 200 millions of Americans in one year, which would give you the magical 60% of the total population. How long do you think it will take before the health system breaks down? Work it out for yourself just to demonstrate that you can handle simple numbers.

There is no evidence for any long term immunity for those already infected, so what kind of nonsense you are peddling here?

Agree. Indeed, one of the things that intrigues me about this disease is our inability to control or even predict its behavior. As far as the efficacy or logic of our response goes, we might as well be ancient Romans.

Happily, the disease is relatively innocuous, so it’s of little direct consequence (although our response has been catastrophic) but it is odd. It doesn’t follow the models.

In a lot of cases. But not all. I was just talking with a friend whose relatives caught it. The old dad came through fine. The sister has been nominally over it for 2 weeks but still has headaches, tightness in her chest, and not much of a sense of smell yet. Probably those will fade, but it’s not just a cold.

It is a vascular disease that is spread via the lungs. Most people don’t die of it. A lot of people didn’t die of the 1918 flu, but there was an obvious increase in cases of Parkinsons disease during the 1920’s.

The two rails of “just the flu, bro’” and “we’re all gonna die” are useless extremes. Reality is in the middle, and it’s not as simple as we’d like.

‘…Without going into outright Covid denial, something other than combating Covid has been a key motivator for governments – in fact it is so obvious that even stating this seems banal.’

What the virus has done is to expose a couple of flaws in our system — and unfortunately the first feeds the second.

The first flaw is that the media feels compelled to sensationalize everything. It’s the nature of the beast: if there are two papers and one says, ‘the sky is falling’ while the other says ‘not much happening today,’ which one will you pick up?

So given a novel virus with somewhat ominous origins, it was inevitable the media would incite a communal freakout.

Now comes the government. If something goes wrong, their job is to fix it. Even if they don’t know what to do, even if they suspect there’s nothing they can do, they have to pretend. Jump up and down and wave their arms in the air. Run in circles and scream and shout. Do something.

If they don’t, they’ll be out on their ear. Here in Oregon — where the death toll has been less than that exacted by the flu in a normal year — the governess has imposed all the usual bumph. If she didn’t, any deaths would be laid at her doorstep. Since of course in a population of several million, someone is going to both test positive for the Corona Virus and die, from the governess’ point of view, this is a no-brainer. Do lots ‘n lots of stuff.

…and here we are. Collectively burning the house down to get rid of the fly in the living room.

  72. ‘…But why did the same — lockdown, mandatory face diapers, “essential workers” category — ever happen before?’

‘A fair question, and one that has been much on me mind’ (Monty Python).

The most plausible hypothesis I can come up with is that this was indeed a leak from a Chinese biological warfare lab, and they told everyone, ‘look, this was a boo-boo. We THINK it’s pretty harmless at this stage, but…’

Freak out ‘n panic time. Of course, as it’s panning out, the virus was indeed innocuous (making it a killer would be the last stage in tailoring it), but this is the hypothesis that best fits the available data: the extraordinary reaction, the extreme failure of the virus to conform to expected models, it’s relative harmlessness.

It may even have been a shot across our bows. ‘Look what we can do. Do NOT fuck with us.’

  73. Wielgus says:
    @anonymous

Some of it has happened before, although in a more localised fashion. The difference now is partly media and its much greater reach than in the past, and of course the Internet.
“Spanish flu” was raging towards the end of WW1 but the warring powers did not like to mention the fact because morale was bad enough at a time when their armed forces were shelling, shooting and gassing each other, and civilians were suffering too, so they tended to censor mention of it. Only when the war ended did it get media coverage, and then there was a lot of mask wearing, local lockdowns etc.
Some other features of now have existed in wartime or after military coups. Curfews, incessant police checks, bans on people gathering in any numbers. The Greek spring lockdown this year reminded some elderly Greeks of the situation after the military takeover in 1967. Troops and police everywhere, not so many civilians, and if a few gathered at a street corner cops or soldiers would want to know why. Some call today’s lockdowns “medical martial law”, and it is not a bad description.
What we have not had before is this affecting billions, and for the most part without an overt and obvious war going on.

  74. Wielgus says:

    https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/10/stats-hold-a-surprise-lockdowns-may-have-had-little-effect-on-covid-19-spread/

This is my feeling about them – they turn cities into temporary dead zones with only cops etc. moving around but the virus, if present, just continues festering at home among the mass incarcerated. The virus is a lot less affected by them than human society.

  75. JasonT says:
    @anonymous

Now is the time that the parasites at the top of the financial institutions are making their move for complete control.

To do that, they need to destroy solidarity among the masses, and social distancing and the mandatory wearing of face diapers both separates people and makes them scared to even talk with each other. This is ideal for preventing revolt by the part of the people being dispossessed and caged.

Their Pump & Dump cycle is about to enter the Dump phase – and the supposedly Chinese Covid-19 takes the blame while they stand back and pick up the pieces (at knock down prices).

  77. George says:

“British Jews are overrepresented by a factor of eight in their country’s death toll from COVID-19.”

Possibly because covid mostly kills the very old and Orthodox Jews are better cared for so they live to be old.

Dissenting scientists issue Covid-19 herd immunity declaration:

    Description:

Freddie Sayers talks to eminent epidemiologists Dr Sunetra Gupta, Dr Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Martin Kulldorff, who met in Massachusetts to sign a declaration calling for a different global response to the pandemic.

For those who are fed up with this nonsense, please visit this website and sign this important declaration…

    https://gbdeclaration.org/

Here’s the full transcript of The Great Barrington Declaration:

As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.

Fortunately, our understanding of the virus is growing. We know that vulnerability to death from COVID-19 is more than a thousand-fold higher in the old and infirm than the young. Indeed, for children, COVID-19 is less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza.

As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e. the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity.

The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection.

Adopting measures to protect the vulnerable should be the central aim of public health responses to COVID-19. By way of example, nursing homes should use staff with acquired immunity and perform frequent PCR testing of other staff and all visitors. Staff rotation should be minimized. Retired people living at home should have groceries and other essentials delivered to their home. When possible, they should meet family members outside rather than inside. A comprehensive and detailed list of measures, including approaches to multi-generational households, can be implemented, and is well within the scope and capability of public health professionals.

Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal. Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold. Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume. People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.

On October 4, 2020, this declaration was authored and signed in Great Barrington, United States, by:

Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University, a biostatistician, and epidemiologist with expertise in detecting and monitoring of infectious disease outbreaks and vaccine safety evaluations.

Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor at Oxford University, an epidemiologist with expertise in immunology, vaccine development, and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, professor at Stanford University Medical School, a physician, epidemiologist, health economist, and public health policy expert focusing on infectious diseases and vulnerable populations.
