Here in central Europe (outside Switzerland) private ownership of guns is virtually non-existent, and yet I never heard of criminals with AKs stopping a bus or robbing a train or shopping mall. You can get your bike stolen, yes, domestic violence, apartment gets robbed when no one is home, a junkie stabs store clerk, but that's about it.

I think violent crime of the US-Mexico scale is a symptom of some very serious sickness in society, a collapse of the 'social contract', and it can't be cured by more guns or less guns. It's something else.

Another threat to the Church is the illegal immigration control movement. If this movement succeeds, and what is perceived by Latin Americans and other governments as an escape valve is shut off, these governments would logically say, “Our demographic course cannot continue.” These governments would have little choice but to confront the Church and say, “If we are to survive as governments, then we must get serious about population growth control. Otherwise, we in Latin America are destined to become a sea of chaos. We, as Latin Americans, must make family planning and abortion services fully available and encourage their use.” Turning off the valve to illegal immigration is therefore a serious threat to the power of the Church.

This movement threatens the Church in another way. The charge is that the Vatican strongly desires to see a Catholic majority in America so that the Vatican can exercise much greater, if not complete, control over the American democratic process, in the same way that the Vatican controlled the government of Italy for decades through the Christian Democratic Party. Many authors have advanced this idea. I have read this charge time and again over the past decade or so, and, until recently, I thought the idea ridiculous. But after observing the Church’s bold and thinly veiled actions in the Reagan Administration, I now believe these authors are probably describing reality. If 150 million Latin Americans legally and illegally migrate to the United States in the next twenty to thirty years, this apparent goal can be achieved. And, as I discussed at length in chapter two,[6] these numbers are demonstrably not farfetched.

The Reagan Administration is clearly being manipulated by the Catholic Church, apparently with the president’s blessing. In an April 1982 speech before the National Catholic Education Association, Reagan made the incredible statement, “I am grateful for your help in shaping American policy to reflect God’s will…. And I will look forward to further guidance from His Holiness Pope John Paul II during an audience I will have with him in June.”[7] Mr. Reagan is obviously leaning on the Vatican for a lot of help, and he’s getting it—much of it not in the best interest of the United States.

If the United States government shows no more willingness to deal with illegal immigration than has been shown by the Reagan Administration, then a migration from Latin America of the magnitude described above is certainly imminent. A Catholic majority in the United States and Vatican control of our government would greatly enhance the power of the Church not only in this country but worldwide.

There is absolutely no reason for there to be any animosity between American and Russian peoples. Yet a handful of reptiles (from the series V), whose loyalty to America is clearly lacking, are doing their best to manufacture crises and wars, to keep the MIC monster going full throttle, and raking in American taxpayer $Trillions for themselves and their select friends.

Not single war US started or gotten itself involved in since WW2 has benefited the American taxpayer in the least. On the contrary, it has caused great harm.

Dear Sir: Thank you for your generous offer to write in your blog, and I have given it careful consideration. Writing does not come easy to me, and I normally have a great deal of writer’s block when doing so. I am able to do it here (in this comments section of UNZ) because I am able to reflect from what the authors, and other commenters write, by relating it to my own observations and experience. So it is mostly to their credit (even the commenters I disagree with) that I am able to respond to them, in this short form. I do not believe I would have enough original material to make an article of it. As I thought that conversos became such long after any Muslim invasions I looked at the Wikipedia and Britannica accounts and I am still surprised by your implied chronology.

Most Jews converted apparently after pogroms in Christian Spain in 1391 but were discriminated against anyway therafter, and even after the expulsion of the remaining unconverted Jews in 1492. Yes, all this affirmative action and racial quotas within the private sector has an economic opportunity cost as well. Overall afro americans are less than 20% of the population but over 80% of MSM focus. This largely reflects the great effort our society is putting into afro americans, with negligible results. That is why we have created this whole self esteem without accomplishment training racket, that today we mistakenly call education. This is not even fair to unqualified afro americans because it provides them with false expectations. Further, it is unfair to qualified Blacks because it casts doubt upon their actual ability and accomplishments (even if unspoken).

With all this BLM rhetoric, you do not hear from them a word about how Chicago's murder rate has increased to a level that is roughly equal to NYC and LA combined! Where is all the outrage about lost afro american lives? Their silence obviously shows that it is not really about actual black lives mattering, as much as hands off policing. At this point, I say give them what they want, and let them deal with the consequences of violence escalating in their own community ( but in reality their violence would never be contained to just their own neighborhood).

While necessary to voice our frustrations, do not look to political solutions to solve this, because we have lost the fortitude to address the problem of afro american hostility. It is going to have to run its course like a virus, and there is not much we are collectively able to do to stop it (because we do not have the political will to do so). So be prepared for the coming chaos & anarchy, because it will come regardless of how we feel about it. Civilization always has a way of renewing itself after such periods, we need to be patient and strong to survive the process of this potential massive societal correction. Besides what other choice do we have? We all prefer that this does not happen the way it appears to be coming; but realistically you do not have much choice of when a storm will approach. Regarding your comment 'Giuliani saved NYC' - - This will probably not be duplicated again, because of the lack of political will, for some of the following reasons:

The current millennials have no personal life experience (living memory) with very high crime.
And many hipsters (who are mostly rejects from their own home towns and came to NYC to fit in with each other) came from areas that were not plagued with high crime. Thus these two groups have no understanding what it was like to live in the bad old days of very high crime.

Added to that is that the polite fashionably liberal whites have no stomach for aggressive policing against afro americans because of their belief in politically correct propaganda. They rather make believe that there is no afro american crime problem and will never politically agree to the solutions necessary to control it (because they rather pretend that their is no problem in the first place).

Added to this: Giuliani was an aggressive egocentric personality who was willing the endure relentless MSM criticism, and I doubt you will find a pandering politician today willing to do the same.

Added to this is the Ferguson effect has already taken root among urban ghetto cops. They are protecting their own rational self interest by being reactive to crime (as report takers) instead of practicing proactive policing. They are providing the kind of policing that is demanded of them by public outcry and the MSM.

Added to this is city administrations want the mutually exclusive goals of lower crime and risk adverse nonaggressive policing. Without courts doing their jobs of providing adequate prison sentencing to violent felons, all the onus falls upon the police to contain crime. This then leads to more aggressive crime control practices than would not normally be necessary (as opposed to an order maintenance style of policing used by Europe/Japan, when the majority of violent felons are in prison like they are suppose to be). But like the old communist phrase states 'you cannot make an omelet without breaking some eggs'; as a result aggressive police tactics causes anger with said practices even if it diminishes crime.

However there are not too many tools in the tool box to accomplish lowering violent crime by the police themselves. There are stop and frisk (which are actually a semi randomized stop & search which is different in what the law describes as a Terry Stop), broken windows enforcement for minor offenses (because violent felons are too stupid to stay off the radar while they are wanted for a crime), and omnipresence (which has a huge expense in personnel requirements). When aggressive policing is discouraged the only thing left is the omnipresence model.
But realistically there will never be enough cops to stop all criminal opportunity, so then electronic surveillance is used to supplement this practice . The down side of this is that it makes this nation resemble an Orwellian surveillance state.

What makes this problem worse is that many suburban/rural police departments (the ones without urban ghettos) are concentrating on aggressively attacking working people as a revenue source instead of attacking ghetto crime problems. The overuse of SWAT teams by small police departments for more routine enforcement functions (not armed barricaded situations that they were originally meant for) is also causing a negative reaction to what is termed as militarized police.
This situation is causing a loss of support & confidence for the police overall, which also affects urban ghetto cops (who have no time for such silly revenue seeking practices, nor care for conducting such petty enforcement when they have real violence to contend with).

That is why my friend you will never see the Giuliani style of criminal suppression again. This is all going end up playing itself out in another way when afro american violence and entitlements exhausts the resources of this nation; then maybe we will see some sort of correction, but probably not until then.

Not as a low bar as you think. I lived next to both type of communities for a long time.
The mainland hispanics do not bother anyone with aggressive panhandling like the afro americans do.
They maintain their homes & neighborhoods in a clean and orderly manner unlike most afro americans.
They do not routinely litter nor do they publicly urinate (except when the young males are intox on a weekend night) like afro americans do.
They are always working or looking for work.
They do not drive as recklessly as afro americans do.
The males have a sense of responsibility towards the financial upkeep of their family (& offspring) unlike most of the afro americans males.
They are more polite than afro americans and commit less crimes overall.
If you lived next to both, the contrast is striking. The outliers are the violent hispanic drug gangs that our govt negligently allowed to migrate inside this country.

I rather keep my eye on the ball of where our primary problems are, rather than worry about the hispanic not being perfect.
The real problem is that afro americans kill more people in this country than any other group (including terrorism)! On top of that, their entitlements is placing a huge financial burden upon the rest of us. And for all this they show no contrition, nor any appreciation. They just demand more more more with no end in sight.
The leftist produced racial balkanization with afro americans, coupled with economic problems of our glorified national ponzi scheme, is a recipe for disaster for this nation.
