I read this move as an attempt to counter Sputnik's increasing popularity (due to combined price and effectiveness) worldwide. They can not fight over effectiveness, so here is the coming price war (aided by arm twisting by the local US embassy).

The ramifications are negative. This administration is so hell bent on waging war to Russia it is stabbing dear friends in the back as the title says. Russia knows this, and remains closed while the rest of the world is opening up, no doubt to avoid a biological attack, with little if any chance it will reopen before the elections (September). If financial war is not working, info war even less, what else is left to a country with 29 biological labs?

Pretty sure that leading "Maybe" is generous. But this sort of effort, unless "Biden" can coerce these companies into creating Technical Data Packages, would be aimed at for example getting unredacted and never to be released data submitted to the FDA

Patents? They're public documents, disclosure is one of the justifications for their absolute but limited in time monopolies, to avoid having information locked up forever as trade secrets. Also allows companies to quickly figure out improvements, after which they can swap patent rights to the original and the improvement. That was really big in the development of Silicon Valley back when it did made real stuff.

My concern would be that the big bosses will still live in Atherton, CA or wherever and you'll have to spend a lot of time on an airplane coming to the see them so they don't forget you.

Coinbase's announcement goes to lengths, to assure job applicants that the Bay Area won't be the de facto headquarters, so they are sensitive to this concern.

But, yeah, you can have a nice life if you can figure out how to pay for a nice house 20 miles north of DFW while getting paid like you work in SF. Of course, Coinbase's beancounters are probably working on ways to not let you do that as we speak.

One exception is the defense industry. I know a very sharp electronics engineer who got a job with a defense contractor which is effectively a government job. Same sort of higher pay, benefits and retirement plan as a government job. The defense industry is having a tough time finding smart engineers who can qualify for a security clearance and are willing to work at a job that doesn’t offer stock options and equity in the company. The employer kept jacking up the salary offers to him until he finally accepted on the further conditions that they start him out with six weeks vacation in the bank and allow him to work from home most days. (His boss actually fled California and was already working remotely.) He finds the job kind of boring compared to the go-go tech start-ups he worked at before, and finds himself doing things like finishing his part of a project, and then twiddling his thumbs for weeks while everyone catches up with their tasks. However, he will ride it out until he is ready to cash out and flee the state.

So which government entity have you worked for for 25 years?

Yes, some govt. benefits are better than some private ones due to politics, government employee union workers and large voting blocs. The government is ultimately a parasite so they feed on everyone else as long and much as possible.

Some essential govt. work is hard, dirty, dangerous, etc. and when not subject to privatization need to pay well. Of course you also get a "civil service" mentality where 20% of your coworkers do no actual work, etc.

Government work is not more lucrative for STEM. The salary is lower and the benefits are worse. You CAN be less competent and keep your government job however. So maybe I should say if you are competent and in STEM government service jobs are worse.

I grew up going to various South/Central Seattle public schools that were 30-50% Black. At the time, there were virtually no Blacks in the private school system, so I had many years exposure to the full range of the Black bell curve (also before the ones at the bottom dropped out or ended up in prison - the menially employed Blacks that Whites interact with are far from the bottom of the Black bell curve).

In a very traditional, less permissive society I think most could do OK. But unlike, say, Fancy Asians and most Whites, changes in cultural standards, crime enforcement etc can have huge consequences. (Same goes for low-IQ Whites - see Murray’s “Coming Apart”). And I think that’s the whole point of Steve’s article.

In 1980s and 1990s Seattle the victimhood-blame-Whitey cult was in full swing, along with complete lack of discipline in the classroom. If the class was all White/Asian things more or less held together. But for the vast majority of Blacks it was most iSteve readers’ worst nightmare. I was there. I know.

Yes there were nerds and salt of the earth types, but not nearly enough, and many of them still couldn’t read at 16.

He never paid me via check but with cash…..under the table and the 1 time he did pay me with a check it was a business acct. check from his bank…..not a payroll check….it bounced….when i confronted him he pulled out a “roll” of cash….probably 10k or more and gave me 300$….50$ more for my trouble & wink wink to keep it quiet….

I could never figure him out at the time but now i think his cbd shop and other businesses were some kinda money laundering front for his Vietnamese mafia stuff.

You are 100 percent correct. Even young white men can’t handle any criticism which is why their views on speech are changing (watch how they vehemently attack anyone who brings up overuse of video games).

Younger millennial men (I’m in the middle of the millennial range so I interact with these groups a lot and am a decent judge of this) are openly effeminate. Gen Z does some really lame macho posturing but they are even more volatile and effeminate than millennials, as they are practically allergic to physical labor and prone to hysterical outbursts. Right now restaurants in my area are so short-staffed they are paying ridiculously high wages along with free meals, and these dudes still won’t take the jobs when they are 16-24 and in perfectly good shape. Instead I see working class middle-aged women busting their ass in these positions.

It’s not just single moms it’s the helicopter parents who coddle their kids. The kind of moms who teach bad lessons by cutting the crusts off little Aiden’s sandwiches. That creates mentally soft kids, including soft boys.

People my age are bad enough (at 31, many of our former friends are pretty resentful of my husband and I making decent incomes) and the ones slightly younger are worse. They don’t like to debate rationally and have little concept of self-improvement. I suspect the relatively recent influx of whiny comments on the more “hot button” threads derives from people in this age group who discovered this blog in the past couple of years. I recognize the differences in writing styles.

The increased violence and suicide attempts are another outcome of the feminization of young men. Younger men are more emotional now. They aren't taught to keep a stiff upper lip and not get upset and to stay cool, calm and rational acting.

The are also more preoccupied with their looks now. Going to the gym to work out has become more common in recent years. Young guys also try to improve their personality and attempt to use PUA methods advocated out in the manosphere to manipulate women. Women traditionally primarily used physical attractiveness, personality and manipulation of males (as shown in a hundred old film noir movies with their femme fatales) while men tried to be a good breadwinner. This has slowly reversed. Many young men now make little effort to work, especially since the flood of money being printed and passed out by the government began. It's now harder to find barbers, auto mechanics, taxi drivers and so on and numerous employers have complained about the difficulty of finding willing workers.

@26 Batman: Single mothers are a blight, no question. But the lack of fathers in black homes is not necessarily the problem conservatards like to make it out to be. The vast majority of those 'fathers' have criminal records, drug use, or criminal backgrounds that have not yet resulted in incarceration. Black males are discivilizational until about 65, not 45 as per the usual suspects. Since the problem is genetic in origin, family environment won't ameliorate it and would most likely exacerbate it, given the natural criminal proclivities of black men.

Twats . Early on in nursing school I learned that anytime a female was feeling at a loss for a rational response to any suggestion that she was responding inappropriately to a particular situation she would say “don’t yell at me” regardless of the fact that she was the only one raising her voice . Immediately the other girls would cluster around and begin to attack the offender , usually me . It made me think of white blood cells attacking a foreign invader . Pretty effective really it immediately puts the subject on the defensive and the only option is retreat . I wish I had a dime for every time I’ve heard that BS.
A few years ago as I exited my car in a parking lot my door gently touched the side of the car next to me . There was a guy sitting in the drivers seat and he looked up I said “it’s ok there’s no damage done” . He jumped out of his car and ran around to confront me . I knew it was all bluster and the “don’t yell at me” thing popped into my head . I just said “don’t raise your voice to me” it worked like a charm . As he was denying raising his voice which he really wasn’t I gave him a dismissive wave of my hand and went about my business . Those bitches are full of tricks .

"How State and Society Invented Adolescence, and Screwed Up Young People" by Tom Woods

"According to Dr. Robert Epstein, adolescence is an artificial construct of recent vintage, unknown in earlier times or indeed in many parts of the world today. The creation of this category, and the assumptions that inform it (by state and society alike) have harmed young people, he argues, and are responsible for the anxiety and angst we associate with the teenage years. These problems are not evident in cultures that lack this category."

Sailer-patented humble-bragging woman takes down white male patriarchy translation service:

I used to work at a Boston organization where I had to deal with a lot of older white men. It was the big boys’ club. As a young-looking Asian woman, I was definitely treated in a different way than someone who was not of my color or gender.

For instance, they would ignore Black women. While uncomfortably fetishizing me. They found me irresistibly attractive, but ignored the proud, vibrant sisters with challenging hair regimens.

At the same job, I once was basically trapped in a four-hour lunch meeting with one of our business partners. He asked if I was single, what my hobbies were, how often I worked out; he was a well-known businessman and was shocked I didn’t know who he was. It had nothing to do with work or building a relationship with a partner.

Did I mention that rich, powerful men find me attractive?

Another time, I was driving an older white co-worker to South Station and I was asked where the good massage parlors were in Chinatown, obviously indicating those that offer sexual services.

Just to shut him up, I gave him the business card for Bob Klaft Tug Dojo.

Much of the long-term decline in homicide can be attributed to the following factors.

    1. Population aging.
    2. Helicopter parenting.
    3. Screens/devices keeping young people at home.
    4. Strict laws against loitering, joyriding, loud house parties, and youth curfew violations.

Lots of homicides used to take place when young people congregated together somewhere. Somebody often got into a fight with someone else. Or perhaps insults were traded, leading to a later confrontation.

Nowadays, young people have more difficulty congregating together anywhere, due to strict rules, controlling parents, vigilant cops, annoyed business owners, etc. A lot of young people don't even want to go out, preferring to stare at their phone or watch NetFlix.

So lots of potential social interactions never take place. That's a big factor in the fall in the homicide rate. It's also a big factor in the fall in the teen pregnancy rate.

There could also be the abortion factor. Violent crime rates began to steadily decline starting in the mid-late 90s which would also coincide with the prime crime age that would-be thugs and criminals born in the mid 70s would be committing them – except they were never born.

Another factor could be that some states, like CA implemented tough “3-strikes” type laws in the 90s that plucked “career criminals” off the streets for extended stays behind bars.

There’s probably a finite percentage of any population who are disposed to violent crime and more criminal types than before were being plucked out of society for extended periods with these tougher strikes laws. But this is steadily being undone by the social justice lobbyists.

The parents of that class now expect that children will have sex and make sure that they use contraception.

On the senior class trip to Disney World, my town's high school nurses were responsible for doling out the daily birth control pill to half the girls on the trip, because children are not allowed to carry their own medication. Very upscale town.

My children never went on that trip. We are a little more downscale.

Absentee parenting (and policing, and business proprietor observation) especially WRT teenagers, did seem a lot more common anecdotally in the 70's and 80's (movies of the time are remarkable for showing how rarely teens were expected to "check in"). I know too that teens became less and less likely to have driver licenses over the last 20 or so years (or have a job), which also seems to coincide with declining violence.

Steve is into traffic statistics, but as far as i can tell, he's never analyzed a single particular car crash here on his blog ever.

what if the media took all the crashes where seat belts are what killed people, and it would have been safer to be thrown clear of the vehicle? not common, but it happens. what if the media took every single crash were air bags actually killed passengers, instead of saving them. not common, but it happens. what if the media never, ever reported on the millions of crashes per year where seat belts, air bags, and ABS saved lives, preferring to omit that part.

then, using those real, but statistically way less common fatal events, what if the media demanded that seat belts and air bags be removed from all vehicles, and all auto makers sued until they do? seat belts and air bags are dangerous, and kill people, after all.

nonsense? of course. totally backwards from how it should be viewed. nobody sees it that way. this is the correct perspective on police interactions as well. or anything else where millions of events happen every year. a large, vigorous police presence reduces the murder rate by thousands per year at the expense of few dozen bad police killings per year.

    JW,

Did you see that the FBI is leading the narrative in the Indianapolis shooting?
They immediately acknowledged that they were notified by the Indianapolis PD because of police concerns about un “items” (which the FBI refused to identify) were found in Hole’s bedroom.
The FBI then claimed that they found no evidence of either a crime or a “racially motivated ideology.”
The police then housed Hole in a temporary mental facility because Hole’s mother feared he would commit “suicide by cop.”
The shotgun taken from Hole’s house in 2020 was never returned, yet somehow, this mentally unstable young man, known to both local and federal law enforcement, then got his hands on a separate long gun -seemingly in violation of existing laws- and apparently murdered eight people before shooting himself.
Yet another “lone wolf” shooter (for mysterious reasons) turns out to have files with not only the local police, but the feds.

    Huh.

    No pattern here . . .

And the type of weapon he used just happens to fill the need to provide “evidence” that such weapons should be banned.

And, he’s dead. So no uncomfortable questions can be asked about any further contact he had with law enforcement enforcement at any level, especially the feds.

You raise lots of good points. There's something here that doesn't make sense. We're not getting the whole truth. Something is 'off.'

There are rumors that many of these mass shooters are mentally ill types who are being secretly manipulated by the Intel agencies. These shooters don't just randomly assassinate people. Rather, they have handlers who indoctrinate them, supply them with weapons, and encourage their violent tendencies. These malleable shooters are convenient 'fall guys.'

The most famous instances of this are Oswald and Sirhan Sirhan.

Remember the Vegas shooting with Stephen Paddock? That's another bizarre case that makes you really question the narrative.

It wouldn't surprise me if these mass shooting attacks are being pushed by the Intel agencies, with the objective of popularizing gun control.

No level of dissent from the approved Overton window is allowed. You cannot go off the reservation anymore. They no longer need to pretend voting matters because everybody accepted that the entirely legitimate and not fraudulent Joe Biden won more votes than Obama. Ignore that he lived in his basement and could not gather a dozen to his rallies. You accept that level of fraud and it's one party totalitarian from then on.

My mom was visiting a couple of days ago and turned on her local news which is a Columbia SC station. There was a story about the black man who murdered the six white people in Rock Hill. There was no mention of the murderer's race or the fact that all the people he killed were white, just the fact that the slain doctor had formed a coalition with a black church in the area some time before he was killed.

Then they had this story. They made explicit the fact that it was a white man "assaulting" an innocent black kid. They interviewed the molester's mom and she said it was a case of racism and encouraged people to come out and protest. She made no mention of the sexual assault or attempted child abduction and apparently the news didn't see fit to investigate enough to find out about it.

They definitely are American, in fact they may be the most quintessentially American--and honestly, I don't know if that's a good thing. Look at where we are, look at what Americanism has led to.

They are generally more pro-immigration, and they make a big deal about "keeping families together" and, you know, "compassion." This comes from a naivety about human nature which the religion helps instill.

Mitt Romney stands for all that's the worst in Mormonism: materialistic (look at his finance career), moralistic, performatively-righteous... hard to put a finger on.

There is no answer to the clear answer to the Mormon Question. It's interesting to see what happens to the people who leave the Church. Most do fine/are normal, and so you don't hear as much about them, but look at r/exmormon subreddit and you'll find the most pathetic form of bitter progressivism that perhaps has ever existed.

There are a decent number of Democratic and progressive Mormons, and these like to be vocal. Most Mormons are nominally Republican, but definitely not MAGA's natural voting bloc. CIA Republican--not good. With only Mormons there would be no MAGA.

When it comes to white identity politics they are not your enemy but they are also definitely not your friend. They love hispanics, most of their converts are hispanics (but retention is low, so most active Mormons are white). And if many Mormons are your friend (and many many are) it's for reasons that have nothing to do with their religion.

There is no good answer to the Mormon Question or the LDSQ. I think the story of the religion is cool, but Church membership might (Might) be on the cusp of collapse. If you want to know more you should read the first half of Harold Bloom's "The American Religion"--pretty much the only great book on the subject. Bloom suggests (in 1992/2006) that Mormonism might take over America, but it hasn't, and its high growth days are likely in the past.

There's not even much discuss. The subject isn't even very interesting. Ultimately in politics (and life), race and physiognomy matters more than religion. White mormons (who's ancestors converted long ago, and these are the most faithful/active) are very Nordic, usually a mix of British and Scandinavian. But there's a great deal of diversity within ethnic groups. Very feminist and respectful of women. And naive, very naive--you'd have to be to believe in the religion. But ultimately it depends on the sub-ethnic group, and asking or answering the "Mormon Question", or even talking about them with clarity as I've tried to do, is pointless. I'm not sure if the Mormons as a united religious group are going to even last for much longer. Retention rates are dropping. I expect a slow linear decline.

    MORMONS ARE NOT A MONOLITH

    , @anon1001
    @J.Ross

At least they don't make a big fuss about having been persecuted, or engage in victim morality. Mormons don't complain about people mocking them, but wear it as a badge of honor.

On the other hand, this somewhat has to do with how embarrassed Mormons feel about the "Priesthood ban." Blacks weren't allowed to have the Priesthood until 1978. (Brigham Young, and not Joseph Smith, instituted it.) This is a source of painful embarrassment--hard to underestimate. So, better not bring up anything that would draw attention to it.

  • Outside of the Middle East, countries are not spending much on their militaries these days. The US spends 3.87 percent of its GDP on the Pentagon, but many of the countries it defends spend less. For example, we hear a lot of speculation lately about the threat China poses to Taiwan, but Taiwan is only...
  • You have to keep in mind the US maintains vast air, sea and land forces in addition to subforces that would constitute armies of their own like the marines. In addition to a heavy deployment schedule overseas and overseas bases. Not to mention the cost of it’s vast nuclear arsenal and general R&D for new weapons systems. And a lot of military assets come in discrete chunks that may not be viable at a particular scale or budget. US military spending is insane.

Most countries are also defending against a single probable war scenario and so will tend to invest in a way to best fight it rather than assets which are of little use. For example, the Armenian government came under criticism for it’s purchase of some air superiority fighters from Russia in 2019 given that it could only afford so few that they would be effectively useless (In any event there is debate as to whether Armenia actually had yet bought and received any missiles or bombs for the planes) against Azerbaijan and constitute a blow to Armenian morale and boost to Azeri morale if they were deployed and subsequently shot down. (They sat out the war) Investing that money into more artillery or even anti-material sniper rifles would have been much more worth it.

As a counterpoint, several countries are now building large aircraft carriers. Historically there have been plenty of lulls before rearmament. The locus of industrial warfare in the 20th century, Europe, has seen it’s great powers enter a situation where war between any combination of them is unthinkable and undesirable. However, meanwhile, in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and East Asia…

But right now the very same neoliberal world order that has proven so fatal to the West is also largely suppressing any large scale warfare or logic for large scale warfare for a variety of reasons.

Though it should be pointed out that only China is really building a fleet capable of large-scale power-projection and area-denial.

Other "middle powers" (such as South Korea) building aircraft carriers are doing so for very limited purposes: https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2021/02/22/South-Korea-discloses-plans-for-light-aircraft-carrier/8711614012160/

Seoul said the warship would carry vertical or short takeoff and landing jets and respond to various security threats at sea. The project is the first of its kind for the South Korean military, according to the report.

The 30,000-ton light carrier will have the capacity to transport troops and equipment and potentially serve as a command ship of a maritime unit. The protection of South Korean citizens in the event of disaster overseas would be a chief objective of the new warship, the military said. Last month, South Korea deployed a warship carrying the Cheonghae Unit to the Persian Gulf after Iran seized a Korea-flagged commercial tanker.

  • I would encourage skepticism from anything emanating from the CIA.

Ask yourself, is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other emirates more or less secure from attack by Iran?

Less. The Iranians have even sent drone strikes against refineries and pipelines. That seems certain to escalate.

India. Is India more or less secure from the Chinese who have ambitions to take the Himalayan Watershed and use it in China?

Less. The Indians and Chinese fought a mini war up on a glacier last Summer. Seem prepping for that now.

Taiwan. Is it more or less vulnerable to attack and conquest from China. Less, obviously.

South Korea, is it more or less vulnerable to attack and conquest from North Korea. Obviouly, it is more vulnerable than before. Given the Chinese umbrella over North Korea and China owning Biden. And son of big guy.

South America seems in a down cycle, for now, in insurgencies. Africa is by contrast on an up cycle, with rebellions (and US troops) in: Chad, Mali, Niger, the Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Ethiopia (Tigray), Western Sahara, Libya, and probably a bunch of others. Their spending is likely to be more small arms and transport but its likely up and also likely off the books.

Southeast Asia? Everyone is scared of the Chinese, and is building up their military: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia in particular. Japan is having a build up, they have a whole bunch of new naval vessels and new fighter planes. Off the books no doubt.

Ukraine, they certainly seem ready for a fight with Russia. Which is also ready for one. China spends a LOT on their military, and almost none of it is on the books.

None of this passes the smell test. And its from the CIA. Always wrong, never in doubt.

South Korea's military spending is about 3.5 times greater than North Korea's. The former has been modernizing its forces at a rapid clip and is now a top five or top ten military power in the world. Meanwhile, much of North Korea's military hardware is obsolescent and poorly serviced. North Korea's leadership realized decades ago that it could no longer hope to match South Korea in conventional forces combat power and has invested instead in... nuclear weapons.

Gottlieb retired from the CIA in 1972, saying that he did not believe his work had been effective. Visited in retirement by the son of his late colleague Frank Olson, he was residing in an "ecologically correct" home in Culpeper, Virginia, where he raised goats, ate yogurt and advocated peace and environmentalism.

Peace and environmentalism! I gotta say, the ability of Jews to compartmentalize is really impressive.

  • The shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, a saintly "jogger," by a white man in the South while trying to take the man's gun was used by the national press as George Floyd 0.9 in early May 2020 to whip up racial hatred, which exploded catastrophically later in the month in the Racial Reckoning. Not surprisingly, it...

There is a preponderance of evidence that Steve is right, that we are right, but it doesn't seem to matter. The only rape fantasy angle I can see is that we are the one's being raped, like my ex-girlfriend in Boulder, who was raped by one of the handful of black men in a town with practically no crime at all.

Remember that post u made once Steve about a white reporter talking about muscular black men in prison & watching them work out?

A lotta dumb white women have jungle fever but are correctly terrified of acting on it due to the social alienation and stigma she’ll get for acting out her fantasies….

Muh precious Aryan princesses who wanted to party and do drugs with dirty Pakis after school. They knew exactly what they were doing.

God, I hate boomercon cucks. Just mindlessly adopting insane liberal feminist tropes like a post-pubescent teen girl can be "groomed" because she has no agency, and that regret is rape.

Grooming, if it means anything, would apply to five year old children. Not degenerate skanks who choose to go home with a guy for fun.

And if you don't think women have agency, welcome to the club. But then you shouldn't be a boomercon feminist.

I agree in spirit…..i grew up around teen girls who would pursue trash men twice their age to act grown up or for dope.

That being said, these South Asians need to be prosecuted…..

  • This likely will be exactly how corporate America responds to the new higher race quotas being imposed as part of the Racial Reckoning. Since they haven't been able to find enough smart and studious African-Americans to fill the last 52 years worth of affirmative action quotas, they sure won't be able to now. So, corporations...

The only Sade photo like that I can think of is the cover to her 1992 album, Love Deluxe.

Speaking of Sade, why can't we have cute and sweet mulattas like her anymore?

  • z Los Angeles doesn't have many historic ruins. But I suspect this broken water main in Franklin Canyon Park just south of the intersection of Mulholland Drive and Coldwater Canyon in the geographic dead center of the city of L.A. in the Hollywood Hills qualifies as one. How many days late was it?

there were more dust devils than could be counted….

What do those do to the Russian* thistles, a.k.a. tumblin' tumbleweeds?

*Yes, they were the kudzu of the 19th century.

I took Amtrak on purpose to go slow & see the weird sights like the Monsoon Lightning south of Phoenix or waking up in west Texas& having breakfast rolling thru the desert….

There were both though….tumbleweed & dust devils galore. It was also brown bone dry…..in 2015 it was weirdly yellow green….

She’s Yoruba. Not Igbo. Like I said previously not every Nigerian who is successful or famous is Igbo. It’s not even half of the population.
