Nina Jankowicz was forced to resign as the head of the Ministry of Truth, and now she is running around whining, talking about how she is the real victim. The cancelation of the Disinformation Governance Board was first reported in The Washington Post by… wait for it… Taylor Lorenz! It’s sort of funny that this...

    @James J O'Meara

Wow, nice to see a fellow Coleman Francis connoisseur here at Unz. Slight correction though, Red Zone Cuba wasn't Francis' next film following The Beast of Yucca Flats. He made The Skydivers in-between. And in fact, the screenshot you posted is from The Skydivers, not Red Zone Cuba.

But now that you mention it, there is another scene in The Skydivers featuring a tranny-like female. She's shown dancing during an extended dance sequence towards the end of the film. Although she has huge breasts, her face and body frame look incredibly mannish. Francis had some strange tastes.

    Replies: @James J O'Meara

Physics wannabe’s who use a pseudoscience (psychology) and a soft science (biology) to “prove” that only physicists are “smart.”

They conclude that the liberal arts are for dummies, and even use that to “explain” why they’ve been overrun by Marxists and Postmods. Having shamed every “smart” White kid into physics, what do they expect?

Meanwhile, the liberal arts set the agenda for the rest of the culture, including the sciences.

They wake up one day to find physics is full of Woke women and brownies, and they wonder how that happened.

You’ll notice that the really “smart” guys, the Phoenicians, never made that mistake. The founders of Critical Theory, Adorno and Horkheimer, were Jews, but they were steeped in classical German Kultur, which is why they knew how to take over a society (and why they had such contempt for American “high” and “low” “culture.”) (*) Horkheimer looked to Schopenhauer for wisdom, not some glorified test tube washer in a lab coat.

So no, AI won’t save us. Even now social media companies etc. are whining about ‘racist” AI programs and the need to “fix” them so as to get the “right” results.

What a horrible strawman argument, no one who is anyone ever said that only physicists could be smart. You come across as a butthurt egotist.

What was probably said that upset your poor fragile ego was that to reach the highest ranks in physics (or mathematics obviously) it was necessary to be extremely intelligent because you have to be able to cope with higher mathematics. There are concepts in physics, theoretical physics in particular, which have no 'concrete' counterpart and can only be described using higher mathematics. That statement in no way precludes the possibility that people from other disciplines can be equally intelligent but it does mean that those disciplines are more accessible to people with more normal IQ's.

I must also defend psychology. Psychology is not a 'pseudo-science' per se, if it uses the scientific method it is a science. Admittedly, especially in clinical psychology, the scientific method is not used and to that extent I am happy to agree with you.

Why did the US enter the the war so late in 1944? Because they had hoped that the Wehrmacht would defeat the Russians. However after February 1943 the tables had turned when the Germans were defeated at the battle of Stalingrad. The Red Army made rapid progress and that over a front that was at least twice the size of the western front. In June 1944 at the Normandy landings, the Red Army stood already at the gates of Berlin. It was feared in the west that the Russians would conquer the whole of Western Europe and they would have if the US and allies had not opened a new front in Western Europe. The Russians fought Nazi Germany for four years (June 1941 till May 1945). The US in the west were there not even a year (eleven months) and they have the audacity to claim they won the war in Europe. During those eleven months the Allies were halted by the Germans and lost two battles: at Arnhem (a bridge too far) Sept 1944 and in the Ardennes Xmas 1944. The Russians lost 27 million people during the war and were left with a scorched earth in 1945. Nevertheless the US in 1949 still saw Russia as a "danger" and founded NATO.

I note that Stanford president Marc Tessier-Lavigne started his college experience in physics and received an undergraduate degree. He then, presumably finding physics too hard, changed his studies to physiology and philosophy and entered Oxford where he received a degree. He finally received his Ph.D. in physiology from Unversity College London. I do not see a connection between physiology and philosophy.

Wow, only 3 comments before the IQ fetishist shows up. I was just about to comment that his STEM background means Unzmenschen (like untermenschen) should obey his pronouncements.

But, you beat me to it, noting that his change of major to philosophy means he’s stupid. Because, of course, that must be the explanation. It couldn’t be because he got bored with studying grains of sand and looked for something more interesting. It couldn’t mean he had finished up the rather limited study of tiny objects in space and time, and moved on. (Why physiology? Perhaps he wanted to help people, but you probably can’t understand that either). At least, unlike Newton, he didn’t take up the Book of Revelation. Maybe he was inspired by Einstein, Aristotle, or more recently, Brian Josephson.

As I’ve pointed out before, people study what interests them (or else for money), they don’t all try to become physicists and then wash out and have to ‘make do” with kindergarten stuff like biology. (An odd view for an IQ fetishist, but then noticing contradictions is a philosopher’s job, and hence for the stupid)

What’s funny is that you were so busying creaming your jeans over physics that you didn’t notice the real reason he went to Oxford: a Rhodes Scholarship. That’s where he was recruited into the globohomo movement. The really smart people — Jews, for instance — realize that philosophy is more important than physics: why study dead matter when you can change the world (as Marx, a Jew with a philosophy degree — on ancient materialism — pointed out). Now you’re butt hurt because this non-physicist is changing social reality and wiping you out. Enjoy your physics until it gets replaced with PC Physics.

I recently look up a survey I recalled from childhood, estimating the IQ of various historical figures. Goethe, as I remembered, was on top, at 215! He tried to teach Newton a thing or two about light. And look, there’s my boy, Schopenhauer — a great enthusiast for natural science — coming in at 185. Think of the two of them, conversing in Weimar, the height of White civilization. (Horkheimer, whose Critical Theory so scares you, eventually got bored with that and took up the study of Schopenhauer. But what did he know, a non-physicist?)

But they didn’t wear lab coats, so we’re much more advanced today.

  • Anyway, because the highest morality of Christianity is so impossibly lofty, it logically leads to anti-nature and anti-life. If indeed the celibate Jesus and His Disciples led the most exemplary life and if the highest Christian morality consists of emulating them, then if every man becomes an ideal Christian and lives like Jesus and His Disciples, mankind will soon disappear since no one will have sex and have babies. There is a similarly anti-nature and anti-life lesson at the core of Buddhism, which is closely associated with Jainism. If every living thing is trapped in an illusion, and if the goal of every living being is to be reincarnated as a human[as only humans can reach Nirvana], and if the ideal of every human is to attain eternal self-extinction via attainment of Nirvana, then it means that if everything goes according to plan, there will be no life. All life forms would eventually have been reincarnated as humans, and all humans would have reached Nirvana. Such ultra-idealism is anti-nature and anti-life, since nature and life are inherently imperfect and chaotic.

This is profound stuff, and “family values” conservatives never face up to it. Christianity in its original form was an apocalyptic cult. Eventually, people noticed that Jesus hadn’t returned, so they either gave up or began to “modify” the religion to make it compatible with “modern” (100AD) life. Celibacy, for example, is possible and even sensible, if Jesus is coming back any day now. And as you say, if people did stick to the original message, and it spread, humanity would die out.

I have discussed, in several articles on Counter-Currents (another to soon appear) the Overcomer Ministry of Bro. Stair, as an example of a real-world cult based on original Christianity. (Stair is a cult leader and serial sex offender, but that’s another issue). Stair preached that Jesus was coming soon (any day now!) so to get right with God (and avoid damnation) you had to “come out of her” or “leave the camp, touch not the unclean thing” (various OT quotes) and submit to God, not the world, which is the system of the AntiChrist. This meant:

    1. Get rid of your TV
    2. No credit (thus, no car, no house, etc.)
    3. Get out of the cities (God will nuke them)
    4. Quit your job (you only have it to make money to pay your credit card for junk)
    5. No marriage or children (another way to trap you in a job and credit)
    6. Get out of the churches (this is what I was talking about, the “compromises” with the world. RC = Whore of Babylon, Protestants = Daughters of the Whore).

These are all “snares” to trap you in the world and damnation.

Sell all you have (see Jesus and the rich young man), give it to Bro. Stair, join the farm and wait (cf. the communal life of the apostles).

As you can see, this is very much compatible with various alt-Right, incel, anti-capitalism/jewry sorts of positions. And very much anti-modern life, and even anti-life. But then “life” is the kingdom of Satan, right?

Original Christianity is anti-society, anti-world, anti-life. The “Christianity” conservatives call “the soul of the West” and which they think will solve our problems if we “return” to it, “Family values” Christianity, is no more than “doing what seems right in your own eyes” = “walking in the way of the world” = iniquity = submitting to the Mark of the Beast = damnation.

(Funny how “conservatives” freaked out about Last Temptation, but then they were never self-aware).

Forget “the Germanization of Christianity”. It started in 100AD. If you don’t accept original Christianity, you are for all intents and purposes a pagan. (or a Jew).

One reason “black” music became popular with White kids is that recordings intended for the “black” market were less regulated; no one cared what they sang about. So there were lots of songs — actual recordings, released and sold — about sex, drugs and guns. Sort of like the filthy “comedy” records of Red Foxx, Moms Mabley, Pigmeat Markham and others who re-emerged in sanitized forms in the 70s. (Laugh In, etc.)

It’s like in The Godfather, where they decide to let drugs be sold, but only “in the darker parts of town”, since the bleks “are just animals, let them lose their souls.” That’s also how Greenwich Village became the HQ of degeneracy: Italian widows would rent apartments to anyone, and didn’t care what you did, since non-Italians were just animals.

It’s funny to hear public or college radio hosts lament “America’s racist past” as exampled in “race records,” since that was in fact the only reason black culture, such as it is, survived; otherwise it would have been amalgamated into pop in general and disappeared.

But even clean black music was plenty popular, like Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Platters, Ben E. King, etc.

“The Old, Weird America.” This of course was Harry Smith’s thesis, which he assembled his Anthology of American Music to demonstrate, mixing “white” and “black” 78 recordings. This kicked off the “folk music” fad, whose lasting contribution was Bob Dylan, though songs from Smith’s anthology continue to be covered by a wide variety of acts — eg., Nirvana.

Add to that the Depression, which wiped out the record companies and thus the careers — such as they were — of all these black and white artists. The only economically viable music was, ironically, big band jazz, broadcast over the radio from hotel ballrooms, which thus became “America’s Pop(ular) Music” by default. Postwar inflation then wiped out big bands, leaving only small combos — hence, R&B and R&R. Just like dinosaurs and mammals.

Unemployed big band arrangers switched from piano to the new Hammond organ, added drums and one other instrument, and went on the road: the “organ trios” people mock in lounges across America in the 50s-70s. Add a singer, and you have Bill Murray’s SNL lounge lizard character. Fun Fact: what was the last big organ trio? The Doors.

It’s almost as if economics is an important factor.

Around 100 BC, European converts to Judaism, Sephardic, Ashkenazi, Hellenic, were astronomical in number, came to 99.999 percent of the world's Jews.

They were not Semites, of course. Ashkenaz was the grandson of Japheth. But then, around 500 BC the Hebrews, Abrahamites, were 0.001 percent of the world's Semites. Already.

They don’t, Mr Bonkers! The Palestinians are the Hebrews, the original, real Jews.

Indeed. As I pointed out in another thread, the current situation in Palestine is an exact re-run of the past.

The so-called “Books of Moses” were forged by Hebrews returning from Persia after being Zoroatrianized (Persian = Parsee = Pharisee) and convincing the Persian emperor their tribal god, YHVH, was the same as the Universal God of the Persians (see the article above on Jewish tribalism, and the articles of Laurent Guyenot here on Unz). These books, with their story of “conquering” the Promised Land, exterminating the idolatrous indigenous Canaanites, etc., were a cover story to justify these Pharisees doing exactly that to the actual Hebrews, still living in Palestine, who were portrayed as “backsliding”. (And forget about the Samaritans, who stayed behind in Palestine and still practiced the original, non-Jerusalem version of Judaism; sweet, gentle Jesus calls them “you dogs” and “swine” toward whom he will cast no pearls of wisdom).

And, as you say, we see exactly the same thing today: Poles pretending to be “Hebrews” and claiming the land from the actual Semites who have lived there for centuries.

Ninety percent of this particular iceberg is beneath the surface. Here, we encounter the storied "third rail of American politics". Here's the catch. Mayorkas, despite the Latino background is a "Chosen". Janowicz is the most ditzy "Chosen" to become a high-ranking administrative bureaucrap. Her credentials? Zilch. The number three, not mentioned in this article, also was revealed as being of the "Chosen".

The level of control by a "Chosen" minority over the chief governmental, media and economic levers of contemporary U$$A society is through the roof. They are rubbing it in. Even the least qualified among them are granted high-level positions in order to smear their excrement in our faces, much like the "Chosen" Klaus Schwab telling us that "you will own nothing and be happy". Where does it end?

Cue the Anti-Defecation League of the B'nai Brith, the world's largest secret society. That organization was established by some of the most powerful in the land to support and protect Leo Frank, a factory owner in Atlanta back in the earliest 20th Century, who raped and murdered a 13 year old girl of his employ and then attempted to cast the blame on a Black janitor who also worked for him. Some of the most powerful attorneys in the land were brought in as his defense team, but the jury thought otherwise and gave the murdering rapist the ultimate penalty.

Notice how the ADL works hand in glove with these disinformation specialists. The entire "Chosen" narrative, which is amen-chorused by the "Chosen" owned mass media, is nothing but disinformation and misinformation. The "Chosen" specialize in the employment of inversion. They twist the truth like a misbegotten pretzel and continually cast blame on those who are working for truth, justice and individual honor.

Okay, so the parasitical predators holler about having their own land. In this I fully agree with them. That land should be as far away from their intended victims as humanly possible. For that role I have long advocated the far northwestern corner of Western Australia. Hardly anyone lives there. Lots of sunshine and nice beaches. Some of the other conditions are not so great. Perfect place for cockroaches and monster crocodiles.

The "Chosen" have amassed immense amounts of mulcted money. They can easily pay off the Aussie and W.A. government for that land and to generously relocate the relative handful of current residents. They can also build a huge, razor-wire topped wall around their new holdings. There is already a precedent for such a measure, one which has been imposed upon Occupied Palestine.

There are those whose ethnographic-religious backgrounds could qualify them as "Chosen". However, these ordinary folks and a number of individuals who could be nominated as Noble, because of their elementary humanity and high levels of universalist brotherhood; should be empowered to remain in the lands of their birth (generally) and simply live as normal human beings who have no ambitions to conquer and enslave all people who are not among the "Chosen". These individuals cannot be considered as predatorial parasites, but as decent human beings. They can stay with others if that is their wish.

Real people do not embrace superiority complexes as a unifying tribalist and racist ideology. This clown act of disinformation and misinformation specialists fully demonstrate how far down the rabbit -hole these matters have gone as the metastasizing dystopia which is the current status of the deliberately dumbed-down public in the U$$A. This agenda is the product of the "Chosen".

  • The Jew Book wasn’t written by God. It wasn’t even written by Jews. Well, sort of.

Modern scholarship (admirably summarized by Unz’ own Laurent Guyenot) has converged on the hypothesis that Jews taken into exile in Babylon converted to or absorbed Zoroastrianism (life after death, Satan not as “the accuser” but as a Evil God; “Pharisee” = parsee = Persian, etc.), then fooled Cyrus into thinking their tribal god was equal to the Zoroastrian God of Gods, so that he would let them return to Palestine to set up a new temple.

The OT was written then, to justify their rule. There never was a Moses, invasion and genocide in the Promised Land, Solomon the Wise, etc. All bullshit. They projected back into the mythical past their own contemporary invasion.

Talk about chutzpah: just read the Book of Ezra: the OT itself says it was “discovered” and then read out to the people, who swore allegiance to the Law. Obviously, it was written then, and rather than “reaffirming” the covenant in the desert, this was the first time it was unveiled.

These Pharisees had nothing but contempt for the “people of the land (am ha’aretz, like the newspaper ) who were the original Hebrews. Their “backsliding into idolatry”. as endlessly condemned in the OT, was the people returning to their original cult. The Samaritans, for example, rejected the newcomers and retained their own Torah and temple. Everyone knows about “The Good Samaritan,” but who remembers gentle Jesus calling the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well “a dog” and proclaiming that he has come only for “the lost sheep of my own tribe”?

Anyway, what’s truly amazing is that the exact same thing is going on today. Ashkenazis from Central Europe invade, declare themselves to be the real Hebrews, and begin dispossessing and exterminating the actual native population. (Mormon did the same thing, of course).

Even funnier, while the goyim still worship the Jew Book, the so-called Jews themselves kicked it to the curb after the temple was destroyed, and wrote a new one, the Babylonian Talmud (note the name!), which is what they use for guidance today.

If the Jews understood the Bible (Zionist Christians as well) they would realize that the thousand years mentioned in scripture refer to the rule of Jesus Christ and not the Jews. In fact most of the Jews will be destroyed. Judah does not hold the birth right among the twelve tribes. That right goes to Ephraim. Ephraim will rule over Judah and the Jews don't like that. Ephraim's rule will be done from the New Zion which will be a fabulous city that has not been built yet. The Jews have fought against Ephraim since hundreds of years before Christ. The kingdom was split and the Assyrians drove Ephraim out of the lands they lived in. This has caused the Jews to believe that they will be the rulers but they will mostly be destroyed and Ephraim returned to his rightful place. The Bible says the people of Ephraim fled to the 'North' countries. I can only speculate but I believe many of them settled in what is now Europe. This could be why the Jews hate white people so much. They also hate Arabs even though they have common ancestry. If you read Josephus, History of the Jews, this will be more understandable but most Christians don't read such things they are satisfied with misinterpretation of the Bible.

So the Nazzies were so “radically evil” (a Kantian notion brushed off and proffered by neocons like John Silber, but I’ll let it pass) that the UK had to join the side of the Bolsheviks, despite their own self interest? What did this “radical evil” consist in? As Revilo Oliver said, if a nation wants to exterminate its vermin, what business is it of any other nation?

I recall that Guy Crouchback, in Waugh’s Sword of Honor trilogy, echoes the author’s belief that he had been tricked into supporting the war when the Hitler Stalin pact showed them united as threats to Christendom, only to have the rug pulled out when Churchill and FDR welcomed Stalin as their new “ally” and Guy was sent to the Balkans to fight for Stalin.

  • @Here Be Dragon

The fact that the term ‘slave’ derives from ‘Slav’ is sure indication of the massive scale of the slave trade involving Slavs. Christian West and Jews sold millions of Slavs to North Africa and Near East.

This implies that in the enlightened West there had not been a word to name a slave, until the Slavic peoples appeared on the stage and let the courageous Westerners begin to enslave themselves. Or what had the slaves been called in Europe before that massive scale of the slave trade, involving Slavs?

The word is from Middle English sclave, from Old French sclave, from Medieval Latin sclāvus, from Late Latin Sclāvus. The Latin word is from Byzantine Greek Σκλάβος (Sklábos), the Greek word does not come from the self-name of the Slavs, but from the Greek verb σκυλεύο - "to extract spoils of war".

Christian West got his arse kicked a lot and often, Byzantine Empire and Poland most of all but the Swedes and the Prussians also, all westerners got their share when tried to mess with the Slavic peoples in the East. Never had it indeed happened that millions of Slavs were sold to North Africa.

Delusions of grandeur, as usual. You, the Christian West were the true barbarians. You learned science from the Arabs and forgot what the Greeks had taught. Your Christian religion was the most barbaric invention ever. You were burning people alive in public places, and tortured women.

And for sure there had been slaves in the West before it was Christian. The Greek historian Strabo wrote that Britannia was in particular a prominent source of slaves to which he referred as an export merchandise. The Anglo-Saxon tribes were hiding in the forest in fear to be captured and sold to Mediterranean pedophiles.

And all this bullshit in the article is what it is – bullshit!

Delusions of grandeur, as usual. You, the Christian West were the true barbarians. You learned science from the Arabs and forgot what the Greeks had taught.

Indeed. Byzantium was the true HQ of the Christian church, most of which was in the East (Antioch, etc., and as far as China), a fact buried by the Islamic conquest, which, after Constantinople was betrayed and sacked by the Pope and his pet “Holy Roman” Emperor, under the guise of a “crusade” to “liberate” the Holy Land (some things never change), left only a rump church of barely converted barbarians to claim to be “Christendom”.

Constantinople was also the center of what remained of Greek wisdom, which only flowed West after the aforementioned sacking of Constantinople, leading to the Renaissance and, you know, the modern world. Otherwise, we’d likely be living in mud huts and dominated by loony priests. Sort of like Africa.

All this is either forgotten, or denied, or just not taught, or buried beneath the Islamic conquest, or attributed to the Arabs (anything rather than admit the existence of Constantinople; guilty much?)

In fact, the chronological revisionists discussed here on Unz have proposed that ROME NEVER EXISTED, only Constantinople, and the whole story of Rome and the Western Empire was fabricated by Emperor Otto, retconning events from the true history of Byzantium.

You Unz people should get together and get your stories straight, this back and forth is too confusing.

Democracy is a kind of Fascism. Hitler was merely making Fascism more Fascist.

The key linking feature is egalitarianism. Democracy is, roughly speaking, the idea that everyone is the king. Divine right => divine right of mob.

Hitler, at this level of resolution, can be summed up as saying every Aryan is a king, and they would all look like kings except for those damn jews. Gotta have someone to blame when socialism fails and it turns out actually not everyone is a king.

  • In the end, it happened exactly like the French establishment designed it. I called it last December in a column here at The Cradle. These are the essentials: Certified Arabophobe Eric Zemmour, who is of Algerian origin, was manufactured by key establishment players of the Institut Montaigne variety to cut off the populist right-wing candidacy...
  • So the president of France was re-elected by 38.5 percent of voters while the real second place, Absention/Nullified/Blank got 34.2 percent.

IIRC, Maggie Thatcher served the longest of any XXth century British PM, but never actually got 38% of the vote herself. I believe Bill Clinton got barely 40-some percent against Bush and Perot.

The genius of the British parliamentary system is that it separates the head of state (the monarch) from the head of government (the PM). The US tried to do this with the Electoral College, which is a kind of Parliament which meets once and does one thing: select the President. The British system works better, avoiding the divided government that ignorant Americans are so proud of: “muh checks and balances!” The PM always has a majority (if only as a coalition) and can push through legislation.

The French seem to have created a system in which the President, who should be elected by the nation as a whole, is elected in the same way as PM, thus losing the advantages, and adding up the disadvantages, of the US and UK systems.

I thought they were supposed to be big brains, these French. Or is this nullification of suffrage the goal?

In the U.S. in 1830, most men were self-employed farmers or blacksmiths. They wouldn't lose their livelihoods for having a wrong opinion. Schools were one-room. Few went past 8th grade. Radio, TV, and the internet had not been invented.

Compared to today, the individual had much more control over his own life, and was not subject to continuous propaganda. The problem with democracy is that the people are not able to think for themselves. They'll be cancelled if they try.

    Replies: @James J O'Meara

The Judaic Mind Trick to to sell the somewhat plausible idea that more education = more knowledge. Hence, the more schoolin’ the smarter you are. We’re supposed to look down on the “uneducated” farmer, hick, hillbilly, whatever, on the assumption “what could they know”?

As I say, it’s plausible, and true in some ways. But you’ll notice how it favors Jews, who eschew farming and handwork for book learning. That’s why Jews are “naturally” in the elite of a meritocracy; it’s just fair and objective, right?

Anyway, the trick is that “education” actually means “brainwashing.” As Chomsky, a renegade Jew, put it, “the educated classes are the most programmed.” Or as Orwell put it in 1984, “Proles and animals are free.” Actually, proles, animals, and the Inner Party. The Outer Party — Winston and Julia — are programmed to a fare thee well, while the Inner Party — O’Brien, or Huxley’s Mustapha Mond, the World Controller — know its all bullshit (O’Brien’s telescreen is the only one that can be turned off, Winston and Julia are constantly under tele-surveillance).

And OTOH, the “farmer” knows quite a bit, from the evidence of his own eyes. This is why the Phoenicians always disparage such “mere common sense” in favor of some grand Theory of what’s “really” going on. Freud, Marx, Critical Theory, etc. Pervasive racism, systematic “white supremacy” etc., despite the lack of “evidence.” (Marcuse covers this in One Dimensional Man: demands for “evidence” or “proof” are attempts to steer the masses away from the Grand Theory that explains how they are “really” enslaved, etc.)

They probably just faked the vote. America's doing it => everyone's doing it.

They faked the vote in 2016 too, by the way. Trump probably got like a 60% landslide or something absurd - a 20% point margin. Normally it's a passive vote fraud competition. DNC twists it 10% one way, RNC twists it 8% the other way, except of course RNC isn't going to take even that negligible risk for Trump. 60% - 10% = 50%, 40% + 10% = 50%. Trump overcame this with sheer electability.

That's what actually made them freak out entirely. They thought the fix was already in, so they didn't bother putting in the fix...

Of course all indicators except the Official count show Trump got an even larger margin in 2020.

I bet even Putin just fakes the vote. Why not? Just keep Stalin'ing that shit. It's the smart thing to do.

There's studies showing that the voting public's opinion has no direct influence on democratic policy. Strangely, I can still trace public opinions to democratic conditions...and they still keep grinding for votes and caring about who the figurehead is. The votes don't matter, and that doesn't matter. Most odd.

Right, the “fix” was selecting Trump in the first place. They thought he’d simply lose legitimately, since no one would actually vote for him; even protest voters from the primaries would sober up. They didn’t count on how much the proles hated Them; as Michael Moore said, it was the ultimate FU to the elite.

It was like when Pauline Kael said she didn’t understand how Nixon could have been elected, she didn’t know anyone who voted for him.

I’m sure they’ve made sure that never happens again.

You still entertain all too many illusions. There is absolutely no glitch in the matrix. Trump is Netanyahu's alter ego in America. The place in the world where Trump was (and still is) most popular was none in the US but Israel. The American Zionist elite had prepared everything for Hillary, but Israel wanted to remind them that however Zionist they are they no longer head a sovereign state but a colony and that their choice for a governor can be vetoed by the imperial power's preference however sincere their own efforts to comply with the rules of the game : Israel is entitled to TRUMP them. They made it prevail through action at swing state level by Israeli agents of Russian origin : the MSM were authorized to accuse them of being Russian, but only without mention of which specific kind of Russians, hence their failure to impeach Trump twice : this would have required an even louder indictment of Israel. Israel told them thereby that they are no longer first world but rather deserve to be governed by the same populist kings as any African country, with the difference that orange is the new black. Trump entrusted all economic decisions to people from the Goldman Sachs and centred his external politics to submitting the government of as many Arab countries as possible to Israel against their own people's will. As Roosevelt said all seemingly chaotic or glitchy events in politics happen because of a decision.

"At least I'm honest about it." Thompson did make the fact that he'd not left his hotel room e.g. when covering the Superbowl and his contempt for regular journalism (something he claimed he kept returning to like a dog to its vomit) blatant in much of his writing. He wasn't respectable and he admitted that he'd lucked into a decent career mostly after the success of the Hell's Angels book. His earlier National Observer reporting on Latin America was all right - it had his attitude and angle of attack with reportage.

    Replies: @James J O'Meara

Oh, I didn’t mean to imply he never admitted writing from his hotel. Actually, Jann Wenner himself suggested that to overcome his writer’s bloc (already setting in during the early 70s) he should “write what was around him”, so most of pieces start or end in a hotel room. Also, Thompson frequently justified himself by saying that it “was obvious” when he was fantasizing, and it was up to the reader to be “smart enough” to notice.

But I’m not talking about obvious fantasies — Nixon being a werewolf, for example — but all the times that HST invented supposed happenings, fabricated quotes, even creating fictional characters to attribute the quotes to. Wills book is about 500 pages and he documents it all (and he’s not anti-HST) He started doing this when writing for the base newspaper in the Air Force, and just kept doing it. Before RS started indulging him, editors were terrified of libel suits and loss of reputation from publishing his reporting, and he went from one publication to another (lying on his resume too, btw.) Those National Observer pieces are certainly well written but until you read Wills book you won’t know how much of that was totally fake.

Here’s an example of what Wills thinks was OK: “a sick fantasy in which a politician is drugged and forced to rape a child so that he can be blackmailed.” This “makes the (’72) campaign trail sound exciting” and suggests “the shady backroom dealings that occur throughout the political world.” It’s a fictional technique used to convey an opinion about what’s going on, a la Wolfe or Capote and other “New Journalists.” The reader is supposed to be smart enough to “get it” and not believe it’s true. Really? In the wake of Epstein/Maxwell, is this obviously “impossible”? Aren’t people likely to dismiss reports of the Lolita Express as “more of that Thompson bullshit”?

Thompson was a sociopath with a great imagination and writing ability. He wanted to be the Great American Novelist but, being a sociopath, was unable to convincingly write about characters other than himself. So he used his cardboard characters to write fake journalism, so that magazines would pay his hotel and drug expenses. In the process he popularized a mode of journalism — “Gonzo” — that laid the groundwork for CNN-style Fake News, just substituting Trump for Nixon: “I don’t have any evidence that Trump is a Russian agent, but it must be true, so I’ll make up a story about blackmail and pee tapes. Hey, the end justifies the means, right?”

    Replies: @James J O'Meara

Johnny Depp and other sycophants held a funeral at which his remains were shot out of a canon. Thompson shot himself while on the phone to his wife; a class act right to the end. (Wills book tries but fails to prevent the reader from deducing that Thompson was a classic sociopath, from childhood to his suicide; e.g., he liked to not only torture animals, but to record their sounds and play it back to visitors).

Thompson had wanted something similar in his “eulogy” on Nixon’s death: “If the right people had been in charge of Nixon’s funeral, his casket would have been launched into one of those open-sewage canals that empty into the ocean just south of Los Angeles.”

The detailed specificity of the image, as Wills points out, is typical of Thompson’s genius at humor. He notes, without noticing the irony, that Thompson’s hatred of Nixon was so intense as to make him his muse throughout his career; when Nixon died Thompson lost any reason to go on living.

As L. Guyenot and myself have pointed out many times, the “brainy” Jew excels only in the purely quantitative realms, which he vainly imagines to the “more real” than the qualitative realms of spirituality, art, etc. (A trait oddly shared by the IQ fetishists, hmmm). He even tries to drag them down to his quantitative level, spreading materialism (“materia signate quantitate” — St. Thomas) wherever he is allowed entrance.: behaviorism, “abstract” art, atonal music, etc.

The Jew is actually notably bad at politics — conquered over and over, expelled over and over, which he obtusely brags about as “survival” a la the cockroach. So the Jew who is not “schmart” enough for science, being also not cut out for politics, must be a truly self-hating creature. No doubt this explains their “Samson Option” and their provoking WWIII.

  • But, when a particularist agenda seeks hegemony over others, it is tribalism on a universal scale with serious contradictions. And Nazism and Zionism were alike in this sense. At their cores, both were defined by tribal uniqueness so extreme as to foster a coldly contemptuous supremacist worldview.

This is the mind-blowing, epoch-making point L. Guyenot made in his book From Yahweh to Zionand in articles on this site. The first goyim the Jews fooled were the Persians; they convinced Cyrus that their tribal god, YHVH, was the same as the Persian/Zoroastrian God of All Peoples. • “The general quality of journalism appears to have been degraded since the 1970s. This may seem odd given the professionalization of the field, with many more journalists with academic credentials than in the past. ”

I recommend the new bio of Hunter Thompson, High White Notes: The Rise and Fall of Gonzo Journalism by David S. Wills, which I will be reviewing at Counter-Currents at some point soon. Thompson believed that he “knew” the truth of any story, even if he never left his hotel room (or, eventually, even if he never left his “bunker” in Colorado), and this gave him the justification to not only write anything he wanted, but to even plant rumors and then “report” on them.

Thompson’s fame — starting right then, in the 1970s — helped spread or retroactively justify an existing line of self-justification among liberal and leftist journos. Nixon was “evil” and so any lie could be justified if it harmed his reputation; and he was capable of anything anyway, right, so who knows if he really was a werewolf or ate children.

Ironically, Thompson himself had nothing but contempt for “professional” journos, but while he was correct that they were just re-writing press releases, his alternative was to just make up your own reality.

I believe (Wills doesn’t say it) Thompson was the father of Fake News. Kids who legitimately criticized the press for lying in Vietnam are now making up fake stories about Putin and Russia.

We're getting very close to the time when admitting that one has a degree in journalism (especially from an American university) will be like admitting one has an STD. When journalism was a true profession, people learned on the job and if they couldn't cut the mustard, they were fired. Some occupations are best learned "on-the-job" rather than in college or university.

In the Old Soviet Union, entire catalogues of books, films, and music could be banned. It was illegal to own them, to sell or trade them. That was true censorship, a real case of being canceled.

But when stuff is 'canceled' in our time, what does that mean? Colleges can cancel Russian literature, but we can still find the books by Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. Some stupid space organization can cancel Yuri Gagarin, but we know who he was and can still read about him. They can cancel Russian music, but we can still listen to it.

So, what good is all this 'canceling'? West can cancel Tchaikovsky, but we still got the music.

When the Church had people executed, that was a big deal. But when the Church excommunicated people, it was just words. "Oooh, we are soooo scared."

The white race is the cancer of human history; it is the white race and it alone—its ideologies and inventions—which eradicates autonomous civilizations wherever it spreads, which has upset the ecological balance of the planet, which now threatens the very existence of life itself.”

Agree with Jung-Freud that it's not just the white race - it's the general story of humanity vs. nature. For example, when the first humans arrived in Australia (about 45.000 years ago) it was one large continental forest. Not long afterwards, all Australia's large mammals were eliminated, and now, finally, it's an arid sun baked desert thanks to millennia of aboriginal fire hunting forest destruction.

The (white) industrial revolution only accelerated the process through devouring natural resources and allowing enormous unnatural increases in human population (notably helped along by the Haber Bosch industrial production of nitrogen fertilizer).

So, to that extent Sontag is right, but equally, you can't un-discover inventions and technology. It's a one way street. It happened to be Europeans (whites) who undertook the first industrial revolution, but if Europe hadn't existed it would no doubt have occurred in China or elsewhere and we'd get the same process, but with a different root.

The question comes down to handling/ organizing enormous populations - abandoning the Imperial idea - and allowing each race to use technology to work out a life balance with nature on its own historic part of the Earth.

Current Jewish Imperialism only looks like an anachronistic attempt to emulate the British Empire (the US being its extension in time), also doomed to failure - including their own parody of the British aristocracy. “In 8 years the Americans have managed to fool the Ukrainian people so much that the people who resist the Russian army, the so-called Armed Forces of Ukraine, look simply zombified. They are manipulated like puppets. It is not Zelensky who commands the Ukrainian Army, not even the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the General Staff – but the Pentagon. It commands very effectively from the point of view in the fight of “to the last Ukrainian soldier”, because these zombie guys do not give up. But they are in an absolutely hopeless situation. All experts have already acknowledged that Russia won the military special operation, that the Ukraine has no chance of resistance, that the entire military infrastructure has been destroyed… The Armed Forces of Ukraine is only left with surrendering in order to minimize human losses. However, Ukrainian officers (and especially, of course, nationalists) act like zombies controlled from the outside – they follow instructions from the Pentagon that come to their personal computers and special tablets.” (https://youtu.be/OZiTCsDeT28)

Needless to say, all this ties in with the absurd fad for zombie movies, games, etc. in the West.

They make a virtue and a show of despising the world which excludes them.

Chafing under domination by one empire after another, the Jews invented a new genre: apocalyptic. The world is under the control of Satan (“the Lord of this Eon”) but YHVH will soon appear in the sky with his thousands of angels, to drench the world in blood and fire. Oh, and smite the evil doers.

The early Christians were such a cult, whose dead Messiah would actually return any day now, not as a lamb of God but as God’s sword, wreaking vengeance on those who reject the Gospel of Love. (The Christian God is a 12 year old girl: “I hate you because you won’t love me! You’ll see! You’ll all see!”)

The Pharisees who re-invented Judaism post-temple had a different strategy: the world is broken and must be “fixed”: tikkun olam.

So yeah, basically Christianity and Judaism were created by and for Pee Wees. Jew vs Christian: “I know you are, but what am I?”

The fast-talking, quick thinking (Jewish) outsider geek who wins by outfoxing the bigger and more numerous Goyim around him is a trope for the ages in Hollywood.

The key to the trope is not explicitly saying a Jewish tale is embedded in the story. It's done with a nudge and a wink. Exceptions are Woody Allen movies.

Jews get it. Goys are supposed to remain oblivious.

The fast-talking, quick thinking (Jewish) outsider geek who wins by outfoxing the bigger and more numerous Goyim around him is a trope for the ages in Hollywood.

It goes back to Genesis, literally. Sometimes the Jew tricks another Jew (Jacob and Esau) but the basic lesson is “win by deception” (motto of the Mossad). The Jewish plan — infiltrate, take over, kill the goyim — is right out there in the open, in the Joseph in Egypt story, or later Esther, but the goyim are so stupid they not only don’t see it, they actually teach there children to worship and emulate such “doers of God’s will.” Incredible.

My favorite example is David, always presented from Sunday School to Nobel literature as “the underdog triumphs over the unjust” or some such. pious nonsense. Actually, David “wins” by approaching “unarmed,” using his slingshot to sucker punch Goliath from a distance, then runs up and uses Goliath’s own sword to cut off his head. In short, he cheats, just like a wrestling “heel” who grabs a chair and knocks out the good guy from behind, while the referee (YHVH) looks the other way.

Next to “the sin of Sodom is homosexuality” (the men of Sodom aren’t homosexual, or else why does Lot offer his daughters? The sin is desiring intercourse with angels, a sort of “higher” form of bestiality. Cf. the earlier “Sons of God” — angels — who mate with earth women and produce the Nephilim) it’s the most (deliberately?) misunderstood story in the Bible.

The history of the fall of the tower of babel is very descriptive of the petty, hate fueled and envious character of the hebrews and their little god as an expresion of their inner colective nature

There is nothing wrong in the pride displayed by Nimrod and the workers edifying a tower to trascend heaven itself by their own means . The only problem is the shatered pride of the hebrew god and their ethnocentrist little minions when they were confronted with group and a society much more advanced than theirs , their comand their little god to confuse and plant the seed of disunity creating different languages so that they could not understand each other and they couldnt not build the tower whose shadow was to largue for the little hebrews to stand .

Is curious how jews are replicating a new babel in america pushing for a multiracultural / multilingual chaos as their commanded their god to do thousands of years ago in babilonia as a way to punish european for the pride for trying to reach and trascend heaven itself ,.curiously the momment americans were building rockets to reach the moon in the 60s is the exact same moment when the jewish influence grow strongh enought to plant the seed of disunity that is bringing the entire west to its knees.

    Russia be losing big time!

In the War Over Ukraine, Expect the Unexpected
    March 15, 2022
    Thomas L. Friedman

Every war brings surprises, but what is most striking about Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine — and indirectly against the whole democratic West — is how many of the bad surprises, so far, have been for Putin and how many of the good surprises have been for Ukraine and its allies around the world.

How so? Well, I am pretty sure that when Putin was plotting this war, he was assuming that by three weeks into it he’d be giving a victory speech at the Ukrainian Parliament, welcoming it back into the bosom of Mother Russia. He probably also assumed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would be in exile in a Polish Airbnb, Russian troops would still be removing all the flowers from their tanks thrown by welcoming Ukrainians, and Putin and China’s President Xi Jinping would be high-fiving each other for having shown NATO and Sleepy Joe who’s going to set the rules of the international system going forward.

Instead, Ukrainians have given Russians a tutorial on fighting and dying for freedom and self-determination. Putin appears locked into his own germ-free isolation chamber, probably worrying that any Russian military officer who comes near may pull a gun on him. Zelensky will be addressing the U.S. Congress virtually. And, rather than globalization being over, individuals all over the world are using global networks to monitor and influence the war in totally unexpected ways. With a few clicks they’re sending money to support Ukrainians and with a few more keystrokes telling everyone from McDonald’s to Goldman Sachs that they must withdraw from Russia until Russian soldiers withdraw from Ukraine.

It’s pretty much group psychology 101 that collective punishment unifies people against the enemy engaging in these tactics. That is in fact exactly why Israel uses collective punishment – they want the Palestinian resistance to be strengthened and emboldened, so they’ll keep firing rockets, so Israel has an excuse to discriminate against them. Israel has a policy of offering zero positive incentives to Palestinians, because they need them aggressive in order to justify conflict.

It's not hate speech because these people are not a race; they're a warped and twisted ideology of ZOG and Zionism. Now, now, Jimmy, nobody's saying that you, personally, aren't smart with your fancy PhD in humanities, there are plenty of very intelligent, very high IQ people in humanities. Unfortunately, you don't have to be the sharpest knife in the cutlery drawer to get a tenure track position at Sarah Lawrence in humanities. You have to toe the party line. Agree with everything that everyone else agrees with and learn the trick to getting published in obscure journals. In STEM, it's a little harder to fake knowledge, although it is possible.

    Replies: @James J O'Meara

And hello to you, Richie. Glad to meet you. BTW, it’s Dr. Jimmy, a al Quadraphrenia. But in truth, it’s Mr. Jim. I have a Master’s degree … in Science.

And why the Sarah Lawrence hate?

Anyway, despite your attempt to dismiss my comments as merely subjective, the reader will see that my remarks were directed at the logic (a science, last time I checked, and a rather hard one, like mathematics) of the author’s paragraph (which, itself, had nothing to do with the book under review, but rather an example of the sort of personal animus the author attributed earlier to academics themselves).

Of course, poorly reasoned prose is common enough; what makes this worth examining is that it exemplifies a common attitude among the “hard headed, no nonsense” (yet strangely, always losing) Right in postwar America: “Eh, what do you expect, it’s not STEM, so who cares anyway?”

I agree with the author, and you, on the state of the humanities. Unlike the author, and the IQ fetishists, I don’t shrug my shoulders and pin my hopes on STEM. I, like Sherlock Holmes, observe and deduce.

Question 1: was this always the case with the humanities, by their nature? (“Of each thing ask what is its nature” — Marcus Aurelius via Dr. Lechter — he’s smart!) Or is it a recent phenom?

Aristotle (he invented physics, so he must be as smart as Sheldon) said that the wise man expects as much precision from a discipline as possible, and no more; one does not expect a demonstration from a historian, nor does one chide the historian for failing to do so.

But this does not mean, as Paul Feyerabend would say, “Anything goes.” Any Man of the Right in the pre-WWII era, would have dismissed the statement “The humanities is all bullshit anyway, it’s not STEM” as philistinism, and a danger to society (given that the humanities are more important to society than the sciences). There were standards of discourse, and what has happened is that those standards have been eroded or destroyed. That is the issue.

Question 2: What happened? Short answer: the Frankfurt School. (But only at a Fox News level of understanding. The Frankfurters in fact were steeped in Germanic Kultur, and the vulgar capitalist society they critiqued was exactly the STEM-made, “one-dimensional” world of today). (*)

Long answer: the admission of Jews into the academy, bringing with them not only their hatred of White civilization, but their Talmudic, backwards-reading, mirror-logic mentality. In the 60s, Jews were still whining about how Lionel Trilling became the first Jew to get tenure in the English department at Columbia, because it had ben “felt” that “Jews couldn’t be trusted to teach English literature without corrupting it.” There we have it: the “gentleman’s agreement” that ensured the trustworthiness of the humanities.

The Spenglers produced by the good old German academia are more important to the Right than every physicist combined. But if you doubt that, consider your statement that :

“In STEM, it’s a little harder to fake knowledge, although it is possible.”

So again, it’s not the nature of STEM to be true knowledge; it’s just as susceptible to corruption as the humanities: “You have to toe the party line. Agree with everything that everyone else agrees with and learn the trick to getting published in obscure journals. ” Hmm, sounds rather like STEM, actually. “Toe the party line” = work within the “settled” paradigm. “Obscure journals”? Check.

This was the insight of Hermann Hesse (another product of German Kultur, although he did have his problems as a schoolboy) in The Glass Bead Game: if the standard of Truth is watered down or abolished in the liberal arts, eventually the clocks stop working and the machines grind to a halt. The function of the humanities is above all to provide an example of the pursuit of Truth without regard to “usefulness” (financial gain, or technology), since the next step is “useful… for propaganda.” And have we not seen here on Unz itself hints and whispers of things going very wrong among the “hard sciences”?

As I said, people (if able) pursuit whatever intellectual field they feel like, hence the idea of liberal, or “free”, arts (see Josef Pieper); their justification is in themselves, not money, power, or inventing new doodads. The idea that that telos is, in everyone, physics, and other ends are pursued only faute de mieux, is a grotesque notion that could only have arisen in our fallen world, and would have been rejected with contempt by, as Evola would say, any educated man prior to the French Revolution (the first STEM revolution).

But more than the need (itself born of crude pragmatism) to protect the sciences, any true Man of the Right will find the glory of White, Western Man in the humanities as well as the sciences. A STEM civilization (China comes to mind) is not worth preserving.

(*) The popularity of Nietzsche and Heidegger on the Right is superficially understandable but curious. Cassirer, though a Jew, is a true product and protector of Kultur (see the famous Davos debate btw the two). The official SS journal later pointed out that Heidegger’s thought is “Talmudic in its essence,” which is why “so many of his students are Jews”; in general, he is popular because “no one can understand him.” Sounds like a perfect description of today’s humanities “scholar”.

  • “Academics in the humanities are generally there because academia suits them, not because they suit academia. In a physics or mathematics department, you will find people with genuine intelligence and insight into their subjects (although this is changing for the worse as standards are lowered to admit more Blacks and women). In a humanities department, you will find people without genuine intelligence and insight.”

It has often seemed to me that the IQ fetishists have this notion in the back of their minds, and it’s nice to see it formulated so openly. If this merely means that some “people with genuine intelligence and insight into their subjects” can be found in the sciences, while some “people without genuine intelligence and insight ” can be found in the humanities, it is true but utterly trivial. I wouldn’t even dispute the idea that more can be found in the sciences, especially today but that would be only slightly more trivial.

But surely the author is not dealing in trivialities. He intends to inform us that people wind up in the humanities because they lack intelligence and insight, and vice versa mutatis mutandis. If someone is, say, a professor of English at Oxford, we can infer that he is a relative dumbass, and dishonest about it to boot. By contrast, someone lucky enough to be a lab assistant at Cornfield University is, ipso factor, highly intelligent and with penetrating insight into the depths of physical reality.

The core notion here — worthy of the worst kind of economic “models” — is that people naturally strive to attain the highest cognitive position — “measured” by IQ — they can get, only “settling” for lesser pursuits. Joyce must have wanted to be physicist, but wasn’t smart enough, so he had to settle for scribbling.

In TV terms, everyone wants to be Dr. Sheldon Cooper, theoretical physicist, with two PhD’s and “nobody’s snuggle bunny.” This is the sort of “world as cram school” mentality typical of narcissists, spergs, autistes, etc. Baker isn’t a professor of English because he’s interested in the subject, it’s because he’s not smart enough to be a physicist. Also, he’s a sissy, so there.

In the real world, people tend to try to do what they want to do. To continue with my TV example, while Sheldon believes that Amy is stuck in biology because she’s not as “smart” as he is, she, like most females, is in biology because though she is likely as smart as Sheldon, she prefers biology to string theory. And poor Howard! A paltry MSc. from MIT, and a Jew as well, yet obviously (to Sheldon), another dumbass.

(Actually, it occurs to me that Howard is a dumbass. Never the less…)

I don't think he is saying that at all.

What has happened is that the humanities have been taken over by the left and intelligent White men that think independently simply aren't welcome. Same for the social sciences.

The humanities and social sciences mostly function as associations for bitter liberals. Some mediocre dyke professor that was unable to pass pre-Calc can gain accolades for writing theories about how White men are to blame for everything.

It still takes intelligence to teach a college class even if it the prof is horribly biased.

But these departments aren't attracting rational thinkers because they aren't wanted. Liberalism/leftism is anti-rational. That is half the point of critical theory. They are trying to rid academia of rationalism to free themselves from objectivity.

  • Speaking of “The introverted but resentful and subversive psychology of academics”, what is this about:

Baker is a Professor of English Language at Lancaster University in the north of England, but I don’t think he would hold that post if there were a lot of competition for it or if his subject required a great deal of intelligence and insight.

Given the state of the profession and the economy, I would think there would be a great deal of competition for a professorship; most PhD’s are stuck with adjunct and other temporary or low paid and low status positions, if they can find any at all.

And why would a Professor of English not “require a great deal of intelligence and insight”? Is this the stink of IQ fetishism (speaking of perversions) so common among the Men of Unz? The notion that some test-tube washer at a cornfield university is, ipso factor, smarter, and better, than, say, Goethe? I’ll let others here consider whether J. R. R. Tolkien, for example, or F. R. Leavis, had much “intelligence and insight”.

This is one of those American philistinisms that make one long for Russia — where literature, chess and ballet are respected national achievements, along side the sciences — to soon wipe away the grinning clown West for once and all.

I’m reminded of a professor at my two-bit graduate school — a cornfield university, indeed — who, when he noticed I was reading a grammar written by Michael Coulson, Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford, sneered “I’m sure there was a lot of competition for that position.” In fact, the whole department was filled with people who considered anything outside their own narrow specialty to be “silly” or “nonsense” even if it was the subject of study at infinitely more respectable institutions like, say, Harvard.

Speaking of Polari (which always looks like Polidari to me), consider my review of a classic work by and about late 50s London queerdom and its camp mannerisms, “The Decline of Wit into Camp: Sour Cream: Michael Nelson’s A Room in Chelsea Square

  • There was some question as to where Tucker Carlson would go in the face of this Russia situation, with the entire media pushing the war hoax, and him no doubt being pressured to go along with the narrative by Fox, which has been completely unhinged in calling for a World War with Russia. It's like Ukraine was like a meth-lab of the US empire. Backwoods nation to cook up bad shit in. A dumping ground. It is what Cuba was under Batista.

What does it say about a culture and people that can only relate real life to something they saw on a semitic television show?

Thanks Steve. I'd read that back in the day. Holds up--to say the least.

And Vallejo has already arrived at that long-awaited nirvana of a Benetton commercial come to life, an entire city out from under the iron fist of White Majority Rule.

But instead, as Buchanan's framework would predict, Vallejo epitomizes dysfunctionality. Suicide of a Superpower devotes several pages to liberal Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam's landmark survey of 40 American communities:

"After thirty thousand interviews, Putnam concluded that ethnic and racial diversity devastates communities. In diverse communities, people not only do not trust strangers, they do not trust their own kind. They withdraw into themselves, they support community activity less, they vote less."

    And the personal bit:

An important element in Buchanan's good nature: he is one of the few pundits who will admit freely that his biases are tribal as well as ideological. Sportsmanship is one of Buchanan's defining traits. He's like a wise old Notre Dame fan who has no illusions that the Fighting Irish are more cosmically deserving of victory than the other football teams. But they're his team. Thus, he can discuss with perfect objectivity the prospects of other teams because he isn't the puerile kind of fan who furiously argues that his team should win. He just wants them to win.

Buchanan's career in politics goes back to Richard Nixon's comeback in the mid-1960s. Unlike so many others, however, Buchanan has emerged from all those years and all those conflicts wiser, more judicious, more empathetic, more broadly informed, and more principled.

Pat Buchanan is just a far better human being than his opponents.

In a wiser America he'd have been elected President.

My one regret for Pat is that he and his bride were unable to have children. Their kids would have been smart, and i could see Pat enjoying being a grandpa.

Previously, I would have pointed out how Buchanan bonded with Hunter S. Thompson, presumably over football, despite Nixon being Thompsons most hated person ever. Thompson treats him as a funny guy with great political insight, even though employed by the Prince of Evil. Thompson was covering the ’72 campaign for Rolling Stone but knew nothing about the inside game of politics, and must have appreciated Buchanan taking the time to share his insights with him.

Unfortunately, I just finished Will’s new book on HST, High White Notes, and it establishes pretty clearly that Thompson was the biggest human shit ever. So, I can’t use him as a yardstick any more.

BTW, the coverage of HST’s run for Sheriff of Aspen, Colo. is fascinating. Apparently he was coasting to a win until the last minute, when the Establishment panicked, joined together, and found a whole bunch of write-in ballots that came in after the deadline. Some things never change.

  • From the New York Times opinion section: Henry Louis Gates is the chairman of the Harvard Afro-American Studies department and host of the PBS show "Finding Your Roots," an informative series, in which celebrities have their DNA scanned and told their racial backgrounds. Hence, he's in a bit of a tight spot as the Race...

There's a PBS show that features free appraisals of antiques, and the owner's reaction upon hearing the news.

I like how the appraisers are usually not Renaissance scholars. They seem like amateur collectors who turned their hobbies into small businesses that they love doing.

I like how ordinary people (not actors) show their true feelings. No over-the-top expressions of glee after hearing that their garage sale, $8 purchase is worth $49. They're not afraid to show a little disappointment over learning that an item, that they thought was priceless, was actually junk. Even reactions to the occasional, pearl-in-an-oyster are dignified and reserved.

I think the profster's show would be worthwhile if he could expose fakers. Like Houdini used to do. "You claim to be the granddaughter of Czar Alexander, but our research shows your family is from Bayonne, NJ."

“I like how the appraisers are usually not Renaissance scholars. They seem like amateur collectors who turned their hobbies into small businesses that they love doing.’

Is that true? I had the impression that some at least can claim some kind of professional background.

Anyway, this gives me the chance to point out that I have what Scott Adams would call “a minor superpower.” With no knowledge of any field whatsoever (Chinese ceramics or Jewish incunabula, for instance) I can guess the appraisal price to within 5-10 percent, just by closing my eyes and listening to the appraiser’s story.

I think it works the same way a carnie can guess your weight: he asks you a bunch of random questions, and he can somehow infer your weight from the tone and other characteristics of your voice.

It’s useless, but real. Dr. Jason Jorjani has confirmed it.

I'm not a regular watcher of the show. I just checked its website. It bios a number of cast appraisers. Not surprisingly, the Ivy types are the ones based in NYC & SF, but they're not the rule.
