The firebombing campaign was not directed solely toward “cities where German industry was concentrated.” We know this, not least from documents produced by the US government Department of the Interior, that a deliberate policy of “morale-bombing,” specifically targeting working-class German civilians, to the extent that planning contemplated killing “young families with infants in cribs.”
