The story is loosely based on true events which involved French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Chinese opera singer Shi Pei Pu.

René Gallimard is a French diplomat assigned to Beijing, China in the 1960s. He becomes infatuated with a Peking opera performer, Song Liling, who spies on him for the government of the People's Republic of China. Their affair lasts for 20 years, and they subsequently marry, with Gallimard all the while apparently unaware, or willfully ignorant, of the fact that in Peking opera Dan roles were traditionally performed by men.
 

Reporter Joyce Wadler, who wrote the book Liaison about the affair, would later attribute Boursicot's belief that Shi was a woman to Shi's unique ability to retract his own testicles, which, combined with the manipulation of his own penis, created the illusion of labial lips and a clitoris and allowed for shallow penetration.[2]

Although nearly all of Paul’s book was written in suitably sober fashion, I noticed that at the very beginning the half-dozen pages of his Preface and Introduction were filled with the sort of unsubstantiated and highly “conspiratorial” accusations against China’s government that are wildly popular in right-wing circles, and his may have helped to ensure that his work received glowing endorsements from prominent FoxNews pundits Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham

In the very first moments of a meeting, the first moments of a book, the first assumptions of a debate: that is when you have to be on high alert. Yet, that time is fleeting and overlooked. Even if you are on high alert, the moment can pass faster than you can react.

What happens next is narratives built on faulty foundations. For example, the bulk of Paul's book, is then spent assuming that you agreed with his first assumptions. The founding assumptions were wrong, and everybody went along with it, in some sort of group hypnosis. And if late in the game, you point out that the "emperor has no clothes," enough time has gone by, and you look like the idiot. Don't you know the earth is flat?

The human animal has many defects and this is a big one, where first assumptions are not challenged. What you think you know may be entirely incorrect. How many doctors went along with narratives issued by government about Covid, even though they were trained in immunology and government mouthpieces were the equivalent of grade school hall monitors? How many medical doctors even bothered to look at mRNA and its unique biological pathways relative to more mundane inactivated viral material - that formerly were called vaccines. Just renaming gene therapy as "vaccines" using a neat word switch, was enough to pass the assumption filter of most normies (and that includes normie medical doctors).

No high civilization is possible without using the Trivium style of education. (Unfortunately, I was a victim of the American style, Didactic teaching from on high, usually from a woman, which then turns your brain into mush. The woman teacher wants her students to sit neatly in their chairs and brokers no deviation from her teaching guides. Cue to Pink Floyd's the Wall)

The Trivium forces the students to challenge their assumptions.

I think one challenge for Russia is that putting these weapons on alert puts a large civilian area on a wartime footing, since a hail of cannon rounds and debris will fall under and beyond every target they shoot at.

There are rare incidences of hermaphrodites. But that isn't what's going on here.

What's going on here is that some children are influenced by their peers and our degenerate culture into thinking they are the opposite sex, then their deluded parents go along with it. Or, alternatively, their parents (usually pussified, weak-willed fathers and/or psycho moms) originate the idea that their boys are really girls or that their girls are really boys.

But they aren't. Ever. Boys are boys and girls are girls. Hormone treatments and scalpels don't change that. If Joseph Mengele had performed these "procedures" they would have been referred to as war-crimes.

Society needs to draw a sharp line here, saying: No, you are not the opposite sex, you are f**ked up in the head. And also, make no mistake, this whole transgender movement is a stalking horse for lowering the age of consent for sexual relations and legalizing pedophillia.

I have no problem with the state outlawing this - certainly for minors - and probably even for adults*.

*And with health insurance plans being forced to pay for this, just think how much your rates are going to increase to pay for all this. Imagine how expensive health insurance would be if it paid for procedures that actively harm people and lead to permanent injury and chronic illness. If it helps, think of it this way: how much would home-owners policies cost, if insurance companies paid people to set fire to their houses?

Non-autistic readers can get an intuitive/emotional sense of who the author really is by listening and noticing the intonations. Back in the day the only TV worth watching was stuff like Vidal vs. Buckley on Firing Line and (in France) the many French talk shows featuring writers debating each other and explaining their views in spoken language, which is vastly information-richer than text due to tonalities that convey all sorts of things, including whether the speaker is sincere or a poseur, how fast he can think/feel on his feet, to what extent the speech is serious/satirical/parodic/facetious/lighthearted/playful/grave and what its dialogic orientation to other speech may be.

For an autistic (cognitively/emotionally impaired) person, or someone whose humanity has been damaged by hyperliteracy and hyperrationality, none of the "human" information conveyed by tone of voice matters, so such people might as well just live alone in front of a screen and focus on text. The rest of us want dialogue with other human beings, including those who write interesting stuff.

Now that an AI chatbot can imitate human text, just as a Zionist comments troll can imitate a sincere Unz Review reader or a Cass Sunstein acolyte can imitate a "conspiracy movement participant," it's more important than ever to get a sense of the human behind the text.

Excellent analysis. I struggle to name an American war that was ever fought out of necessity, other than perhaps Japan and Afghanistan because they attacked us, and the Mexican-American war where we gained vast territory. All other wars were wars we never should've gotten involved in, including WWII in Europe. The Spanish-American war was especially stupid. Entirely egged on by yellow journalism, we ended up with Guam, Philippines and Puerto Rico, 3 poverty stricken shitholes that do nothing but send us millions of unwanted immigrants for the past 5 decades. They remain a net drain to our treasury.

Niall Ferguson said that England never should've gotten involved in WWI, they should've just let Germany take over Europe, and WWII never would've happened. I agree with him. If the UK never got involved, Europe today would be no different than the EU, except maybe everyone would be speaking German, the economy would be much stronger and the government would be much more functional. And the German soldiers never would've allowed the current invasion of Middle Eastern/African migrants into Europe.
