1. )) I work with the owners of companies to turn around their business ie from loss to “break even” to profit so that they can either (a) sell the business or (b) retain the business and thus not continue to have a dog sucking up the resources of their other companies

2.) I work in both the public and private sector to bring order and control to departments that are extremely chaotic mostly in Finance, Corporate Tax, and Procurement. Also while I am not a human resources professional I work with “problem” employees who are highly skilled and talented but who feel “disillusioned, unloved, unappreciated etc” I pour oil on trouble waters so to speak. Owners have a rough time with them balancing their value against the constant conflict.

3.) I work with Senior executives in the same vein as the problem employees above ie I allow them to blow off steam and say what they want without judgement or criticism and then work around the issues to improve their performance and company operations

4.) I do a lot of Transfer Pricing Policy and Tax work mostly between related companies selling to one another over an international border. What this means is that the transfer price from say one subsidiary selling to another subsidiary cannot be so structured to take advantage of the corporate tax rates in one or the other jurisdiction.

5.)) I do a a lot of feasibility studies to determine if a venture will work, and if a desired business will fit in with an existing group of companies or if a business in an existing group of companies should be sold as it is not really compatible.

My last big accomplishment was turning around a $100M company in 6.5 months producing a $1M profit for the first time in years. My preliminary planning was done on a small pizza box the weekend before I started the project. I was in the park with the pizza and a ginger ale when I wrote up the plan. LOL

I split the Corporate world in 1987 and have worked for myself ever since. This past Memorial weekend I had little sleep as I had to complete a project for Tuesday morning. Tuesday to now is kick back time. I dont have to answer to anyone. I do the work and collect my fees. If they want to wipe their ass with my recommendations it makes no difference to me. If anyone else on UR can do the same, they will experience a peace of mind hitherto unknown !

In the Corporate world one has to jump to the tune of everyone else and be sensitive to the emotions of LeShawn, Tonika, Singh, Fung A Fat, Faisal and Odinga or Bloomberg. Every word has to be carefully chosen, every facial expression controlled. Believe it or not I reached the stage where I NEVER put anything in writing, rarely spoke on the phone and always made sure there were no witnesses in meetings. Deniability my friend. I made it a point to say as little as possible. Fuck that !

I have one rule. I never do any projects for ANYONE who is not white. That rule also applies to business transactions. Even when I need to change a car, even if the salesman is a fair skinned Arabian with green eyes, I move on. No matter the fee, no matter the cost ! I have learned from the experiences of others that transactions across racial/ cultural lines always lead to bitter acrimony, hard feelings and the Courts.

I had one meeting with the Board of a University. Twenty one people to run a business that required at most 6. The fee would have set me up for a whole year and then some. But with all those dark faces on the Board, Marckus would have preferred to sweep up dog shit with his hands rather than have to deal with them. I listened politely and was professional. One month later they sent me the contract and asked me to start writing up a paper. I answered, that I had already accepted something else and had to turn down the work.
