RSSAnother great article by Crooke. I would venture that while the US, Turkey, and Israel profit from the Fall of Syria –it is very short term. Turkey is in a quagmire. It will try to prosecute a war against the Kurds AND control the diverse extremist groups it has unleashed on Syria at the same time. It is unlikely to be successful. The Israelis must divert resources away from Lebanon and Palestine to control their new dominions in Syria. The rest of the ME is uniting with Iran and Russia — and China– driven by fear of the chaos spreading. Should Israel follow through on its threat to attack Iran’s nuclear sites — it will suffer a devastating defeat. The US doesn’t have the means to join in.

As a Canadian I have considerable experience with Canada’s homegrown version of fascism, which naturally attracted Galician war criminals at the end of WWII. Canadian fascism is different from the American one, very subtle. But you will notice that even the official “progressive” party — the NDP — our version of British Labor –votes consistently to support Canadian imperialism abroad — the overthrow of democracy in Haiti — the attempted overthrow of several other Latin American democracies, and support for American imperialism — well — everywhere. To be a Canuck, you have to be a Faux Liberal. But Canada will collapse as a nation — when the US does. And the US collapse is inevitable. The US and Canada are like the Japanese Empire, which embarked on a war it could not win and knew itself defeated by 1944. The Empire hung on using propaganda to gain national consensus and suicide as a tactic. America is in its Banzai charge stage. By next year, all that will change and you will see the Union broken. Ditto: “confederation” in Canada. For a Japanese perspective read here https://julianmacfarlane.substack.com/p/usa-civil-war-2023?s=w
