Good policies matter most. A diverse population reduces social solidarity, which is good for economic growth because people don't want wealth-destroying policies to help out people who look different.

Have any Sailer-commentariat people seen the attention-getting new movie A House of Dynamite?

Steve Sailer is looking to create a cultural-division line in Texas to demarcate where the South ends and the West begins:

    Steve Sailer:

[T]he South probably doesn't extend quite so far west in Texas. Dallas, like Orlando, is pretty generic Sunbelt rather than Southern.

    __________

On the other hand, I've seen it argued that The South as a cultural region is growing in the 21st Century to include more of non-urban America than that, say, Garrison Keillor would have recognized as Southern 40 years ago. I don't travel enough to have an opinion on that.

    Rod Dreher:

When I lived in Dallas 20 yrs ago, the locals said the border between the South and the West was halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. Don’t know if that still holds.

    Steve Sailer:

[Polling two weeks before the election]

    New York mayor 2025:
    — Men: Mamdani +5
    — Women: Mamdani +15

    — Native-born: Cuomo +9
    — Foreign-born: Mamdani +38

    — Jews: Cuomo +33

    — Steve Sailer: Cuomo +100 (n=1) (inferred)

The CNN exit poll has this, similar to the finding on Mamdani's decisive "foreign-born" support:

    __________

[Exit Poll Q.] How long have you lived in NYC?

Less than 5 years (7% of voters)
    -- 85% Mamdani

    5-10 years (8% of voters)
    -- 79% Mamdani

More than 10 years but not native (37% of voters)
    -- 54% Mamdani

Born in NYC (45% of voters)
    -- 38% Mamdani

    [3% of voters, No response]
    ___________

If only those who'd lived in New York at least ten years (including those born in New York) had voted, Cuomo would probably have narrowly won. The exit poll's numbers have it at 46-46-8 for just the 10-year-or-more resident set. In such a close-heat, maybe even more Sliwa voters would've gone to Cuomo.

Of course, if only Whites resident at least ten years had voted, it'd have been no contest and the non-American Sleek Smiley Muslim Candidate would've lost decisively.

    ___________

Jews, according to the exit poll, went 63% for Cuomo against 33% for Mamdani.
    ___________

A surprising (?) finding of the exit poll is that both Black males and Hispanic males went for Mamdani at a higher rate than the women of their same race. This is against the usual trend of females being more "Left"-voting. But the trend flips to the usual-expected pattern with Whites:

    % voting for Mamdani
    -- White males: 43%
    -- White females: 48% [+5]

    -- Black males: 60%
    -- Black females: 52% [-8]

    -- Latino males: 52%
    -- Latin females: 48% [-4]

Still, these are not large gaps and may not even be real given sampling errors.
    ___________

The biggest gap, besides length-of-residence and ties to the USA (previously mentioned), is: Age.

White and Black support for Mamdani falls off a cliff above age 40 or 45. There is something like a 35-point gap between under-30s and over-45s.

On the numbers, it wouldn't quite have been enough to defeat Mamdani if the voting-age were pegged to merely 25 rather than 18. But in practice it might have been enough as a good portion of the momentum would have disappeared.

A stricter naturalization policy, needless to say, would've also kept Mamdani out. (Read that two ways if you wish.)

Paul Kersey praises Steve Sailer during the John Derbyshire interview of October 28, 2025:

It was during their embarrassing technical difficulties that soaked up the first 20 minutes. Paul Kersey and "Dan Lyman, of Border Hawk News" were filling time while Peter Brimelow was off trying to track down John Derbyshire.

Paul Kersey said it was "fascinating" to find that John Derbyshire had made a plea for severe immigration restriction in March 2003, and that JD had predicted immigration-restrictionism was on the political horizon for later in the 2000s (too early by 10 years). (You can read here an that 2003 column in question, 1400 words.)

Here is the part where Paul Kersey praises Sailer, transcribed to text:

We know one of the people doing security at the Logan Airport noticed these Arab guys and [said], "You know, I'm not sure we should let them board. But is it worse to question them boarding?"

I think Steve Sailer has pulled that quote out a number of times, to point out that, "Well, you know, it could have all been avoided if we had racially profiled!"

At the same time, you'd have thought that Muslim immigration would've been put into question. And yet, here we are. You've seen the chart, Dan, of the enormous increase in Muslims in the United States. [...]

    October 31: Reformation Day.
The 508th anniversary of the Reformation
    (starting in 1517, Germany).

According to the influential, now-mainstream Jewish intellectual-scribbler Curtis Yarvin (f.k.a. Mencius Moldbug"), the Reformation was a very bad event. It helped to undermine monarchy. And there was Luther's committed, principled anti-Semitism...

According to Yarvin, Protestantism set the stage for all the world's problems, for which the Jews are 100% (no, 110%!) innocent. The Jews were tricked into all by the perfidious, nefarious Protestants, you see; Protestants being a group that secretly controls the world, controls the media, and undermines nations all over the place (per Yarvin).

It was troubling to many when Steve Sailer occasionally flirted with embracing this 'Moldbuggian' anti-Protestant view of world history.

One funny thing about the Yarvin/Moldbug School of blaming White-Protestants "for everything wrong with America" is that there'd be no America at all without White-Protestants. The ethnocultural core around whose traditions, attitudes, and norms all US institutions arose!

Yarvin's anti-Protestant crusade was a strange little project, in which he endeavored to cast White-Protestants as some radical-subversive outside group in their own society, the society they created, maintained, and demographically were the core-majority of for centuries. Rabbi Yarvin laid on the "pilpul" thick and heavy.

Yeah, I've been noticing that too. One of the odd details, for instance, is that Machado promised—as soon as Venezuela is delivered to her—to move Venezuela's embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. That's kind of an odd thing to commit to when you're just a stateless refugee somewhere. She's effectively announcing that she expects a large Israeli participation in the Reconquista of Venezuela.

Why Israel should care who runs Venezuela is less clear. Obviously, with large amounts of oil and other natural resources, large amounts of money will change hands in the medium-term future, but that's true in many places and Israel has plenty of other fish to fry. Maybe it's less about Israel per se than that wealthy US oligarchs want in on a New Venezuelan Order and because they are also Zionist Jews, embassy deference is a cheap form of remuneration for Machado to offer.

SNAP has not kept poor people from stealing so much food from inner city grocery stores that they all end up closing since they can't turn a profit. Here in Indianapolis at least a couple of grocery stores were given government grants to open up in poor neighborhoods. They struggled along for a few years and then shut down due to heavy losses from shoplifting.

The next step is likely government run grocery stores in big cities, an idea recently floated by the socialist mayoral candidate in New York. The better solution would be to place harsher penalties on shoplifting but big city leftist governments will not do that.

We have not reached the point of government run grocery stores where I live yet. With no grocery stores in the poor parts of town, poor people often have to travel long distances to suburban grocery stores. At these stores, any losses from poor people shoplifting are offset by profits from sales to middle class shoppers so the stores can manage to stay open.

However, when I was young I was interested in Africa, and Updike had spent a month touring Africa for the State Dept. and then a year in the Harvard Library reading about Africa. The product, his novel "The Coup," is incredibly well-informed.

The novel by a Black-African I have encountered most often is Things Fall Apart. It came out in 1958 (the same year as Steve Sailer). By Chinua Achebe [1930-2013], Nigerian. It was a tragedy about how colonialism had undermined Black Manhood in Africa, although that description sells it short. He didn't necessarily blame Whites. (As I say, it was tragedy and not crude anti-White morality-play.)

For some reason Things Fall Apart remained well known (well promoted; or: "well, promoted," to the cynics out there) many decades after it was published. It's appeared somewhat regularly, I think, on mandatory school reading-lists across the USA for decades. And I've seen Things Fall Apart being sold many times even in the 2020s.

The Things Fall Apart novel was published in the UK, two years before the UK relinquished full independence of Nigeria to a Black government (Oct 1960). The writer Chinua Achebe was a member of the Ibo/Igbo group primarily of Nigeria. They are known to some as "the Jews of Africa" ("for their business acumen").

It’s also perhaps relevant that, during the Cold War, that there was a consensus on European civilization being the pinnacle of human achievement, and that it was our common patrimony. Every humanities major was sure to have had read at least one Russian novel, and everyone, college-educated or otherwise, knew that ballet, classical music, and so on, were areas of our culture in which there were many great Russian names.

Now, to many under the age of 40 or so, the Great Russians are just a bunch of Dead White Males, and many an English Major has a reading list stuffed with names such as Chinua Achebe, Toni Morrisson, Arundhati Roy, and who knows who.

If the Jew leadership wasn't trying to save their own ass by sending their NPC's off to the camps the death toll would have been a lot lower. There doesn't seem to be much interest in getting a good estimate of how much lower.

I assert without proof the number is at least half.

If it was 6 mil then 3 mil is on Jews but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 6 mil. War is hell. Especially that one.

I think the strong upsurge in interest in the Holocaust decades later was due to the oversized Jewish influence in society - particularly in media - and to stress the fact of the Nazi genocide of European Jews which never really sunk into the man on the street's head - even to this day. It seems obvious to me that many vaguely go around thinking Jews were sent to live in camps and that conditions were such that large numbers just happened to die. Comparatively few Jews were sent to live in camps and most were simply killed. We nowadays have a better handle than in the '70s of the logistics and more exacting details about those matters, although persons like Raul Hilberg who specifically looked into these things had an ok understanding all along. The average person didn't then and, frankly, still doesn't now. Interest in the Holocaust has faded since and will continue to. But the correct understanding will be imparted in schools - not everyone's vague notions from back then.

Technically, that Deaths Head was not a "Nazi" symbol; it was used by the Deaths Head Hussars of the German army of the Second Reich (and before them by the Prussian army). The SS adopted it to look badass or something (the same reason Platner gave for choosing it). So it wasn't a "Nazi" symbol in the same way that the swastika or the double-lightning-bolt were not "Nazi" symbols - they both also predated the NSDAP and the Third Reich.

Platner is probably lying. I'd bet he knew where he had seen that symbol before, and it wasn't on the busby of a 19th century light cavalry trooper, it was on the cap of some snarling SS officer in some WWII movie he had seen. And that's the vibe he was going for. Did he not know what a skull and crossed-bones means?

I was going to write about this but was preoccupied; it’s even dumber than that. Really, the death’s head was used by the SS overall, the Waffen-SS (which was sort of the German Foreign Legion [non-Germans couldn’t serve in the Wehrmacht]), and the autistically named Totenkopf-SS. They wore the same symbol in different positions on their headgear. Possibly the dumbest military uniform chart I have ever seen documents German officer headgear, it’s freaking random. There’s about twenty different colors. At one point maroon is used. And all of them, of course, as sloppy as possible, as was the style.

Just my opinion based on observation. Russia is asking for Ukraine to cede a large amount of territory including territory that Russia has been unable to seize. And for a guarantee that the remaining portion of Ukraine not be hostile towards Russia. This amounts to unconditional surrender.

It's nice that Steve's so complimentary about Pinker's IQ and such, but Pinker is really just an example of Orwell's dictum that "there are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.”

Pinker's warning that discussing race and IQ "might embolden racists, make it easy to overlook systemic racism, shake the confidence of individual African Americans, and further divide the country along racial lines" is not a reasoned evaluation of reality, it's merely a recitation of the Leftist Credo to let everyone know he is one of the 'good guys'.

As Steve and AnotherDad have shown item by item, Pinker is wrong about everything that matters. And worse, he's wrong about it in a clever-sounding way that further entrenches destructive policy.

However, Ireland clearly acted in a racist and discriminatory manner in allowing a White gentile person to cook bacon within the olfactory range of a muslim. 200% tariffs on potatoes and overrated stouts with peat in the bottom of the bottle.

On a side note, if Putin wanted to avoid international opprobrium, he should start employing Somali mercenaries. Programs “in even some of the most elite among elite institutions are taking this step out of an abundance of caution”, says Julie Posselt at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, who studies higher education. Harvard University, for instance, is significantly cutting PhD admissions across a swath of departments ― and cutting admissions in at least one science department by roughly 75%, according to a 20 October story in the student newspaper The Crimson. I do not see any long term political strategy that involves voting that is going to work for those who are pro-White and believe in limited government conservatism, a combination that describes the majority of White Americans of the past. We have central A/C with a nice, big compressor behind the house and wonderful air ducts running into the ceiling of every room.

An old girlfriend had worked one year as a bartender somewhere in Britain. She told me then how the place seemed to her "like a third world country." Even cold drinks and refrigerators were semi-uncommon. She poured a lot of warm beer at the bar.

My wife's Transylvanian father was always warning us that cold drinks were bad for us. I wondered where that tale came from (but that was a country where refrigeration was formerly hard to come by.) I reminded him that my ancestors came from very cold places and drank cold water quite often.

I can't recall people in Sweden dying from heat waves in any notable numbers so far. More of a problem around the Med and in France, as far as I know. Now that I think about it, I wonder how the Arabs handle it? I don't think they have much AC at all down there. I seem to recall buildings down there are constructed to provide some passive cooling but what I can't recall are the details.

Regarding heat pumps, UK subsidies are not available to those of us up here, of course. I wonder if those restrictions are to avoid drawing too much power. I hear their grid is a bit feeble.

    Replies: @J.Ross

Arabs have several mechanisms to deal with the heat, perhaps the simplest (and one which benefits us in a way I’ll expand on below) is to simply embrace “teenage hours,” that is, to have a thriving night culture and then sleep in. The sun can’t burn you if you’re asleep. One positive aspect of Arabs taking over an American city is that, while we used to have 24-hour grocery stores, that seems to have ended with the lockdown. In a typical American city the only available amenities after a certain hour are a liquor store, a gas station, or a strip club.
    Arabs:
Pretty much stay up all night.
Big emphasis on family, child-safe, etc..
Big emphasis on healthy food, fresh produce, smoothies, etc..
So you can get really good quality groceries at any hour.
Passive heat management — I forget what they’re called but Gulf Arabs have these fireplaceless chimneys which wick the heat up and out.

But what do you do with gold? I guess you could barter with gold, but that can be iffy, and you can't do that in a store. Otherwise, you have to sell gold, but that is probably not in your favor if times get really tough. I think the predators probably have that covered, just like housing and everything else. Historically speaking (meaning, over millennia, as consistent as breathing air) people traded their labor for a bit of day to day currency, to take care of, like, food, but over time they gradually acquired bullion, trading it only for capital like farmland or a shop. So you “sell” gold, but only in a once in a lifetime transaction enabling class mobility (“bought the farm”), and only for something that will yield more money and security. Several major historical events are actually about this in the center but it gets omitted. For example, the “intolerable acts” sparking the American Revolution were intolerable because their fees could only be paid in buillion — it wasn’t a matter of being expensive, it was a matter of kneecapping colonial wealth building. Similarly, the Opium Wars weren’t humiliating to Chinese because of drug addiction (have you read Chinese poets talking about getting blasted on wine?) but because the British (hey, there they are again) wanted to be paid for their opium from China’s silver bullion reserves, directly impacting sovereign wealth and possibly pushing the middle kingdom into debt.

Putting aside for the moment whether the Fed actually is independent (if you believe that, I have swampland for sale in Arizona you might want to buy), I think in the not too distant future the Fed may not be able to control whether there is high inflation. As the federal debt grows increasingly out of control, and no one in authority exercises any fiscal restraint, the monetization process will lead to high inflation (the debt is growing exponentially); or, if the Fed refuses to accommodate the fiscal authorities, there will be failed bond auctions. Ultimately, the dollar will tend towards its intrinsic value, i.e., zero, just like all the other fiat currencies.

I think what we are observing over the last few years is a quiet movement by central banks to hedge against a dollar collapse by building gold reserves. The US and its European allies may be in for a rude awakening in the not too distant future.

Two excellent recent threads on 4chan about this. It’s pretty much never happened that the value of gold relative to the dollar went so far up, stayed up, and gave every sign of continuing to go up. Indications and likely future moves suggest the government is cool with this (in the past, similar activity was curbed for reasons that no longer apply and through mechanisms that wouldn’t work here). Many speculate that our leaders actually want the dollar to die, possibly as an expedient if messy way of dealing with debt, or that our leaders want to bring in bitcoin and universal purchase monitoring. Or war and a new Bretton Woods. That isn’t the ominous part. The ominous part is that, between the sheer size of the debt, the inability of “friends” to help, the global economic outlook, et cetera, there’s apparently no controversy regarding the prognosis, whatever the motive. “You have one year.” It’s like we’re on a ship with no working screws and no nearby tugs and we’re drifting toward an iceberg, but slowly, and everyone agrees, yup, that thing’s definitely going to hit us pretty soon.

Frankly, most of the real investment writers are just as bad. They only really "suggest" or "predict" trends when it becomes obvious that those "trends" are already happening. Witness now how many established entities are trumpeting gold's value and future.

The reality of Jewish geniuses like Von Neumann has to be squared with the constant aggressive over-promotion of midwits and dangerous imbeciles. Ironically, if it weren't for the "jobs for the boys" mitzvah, nobody would have any problem with the Jewish genius image. When Jews aren't geniuses, but are wildly overpromoted, it's not a matter of missing a mark, they're consistently destructive far beyond their natural range, like Boas misleading an entire science for a hundred years.

    Replies: @Dennis Dale, @Mike Tre

People who want to deny Jewish IQ have lost the plot. Higher IQ and energy are a disaster if possessed by people who hate you. Consider the Cofnas critique of MacDonald. He simply argues that Jewish overrepresentation is a natural consequence of IQ. Though that doesn’t stand up entirely; merit-earned Jewish overrepresentation is magnified by ethnic self-promotion due to a level of in-group loyalty not possessed by white gentiles. Our problem is not Jewish brains, per se, but the Jewish heart. The reason so many have left the “HBD” nice-guy faction as represented by Sailer is because it’s essentially libertarian, a naive belief that merit based on talent can be the highest value, and whatever carnage ensues, ethnically, is naturally right and just.

We’ve come to realize, in a very un-Christian illiberal way, that values mean nothing if not rooted in and preferential to a given community, and ultimately in an ethnic nation with some racial basis.

The problem is what Jews do with the success they’ve enjoyed in the civilization we’ve created. It’s not enough, apparently, to succeed in and even to lead western culture, it has to be so altered as to be destroyed. That’s the irony of this increasingly transparent “Judeo-Christian” canard. If Jews are going to remain separate and antagonistic at the end of the day, then the least we can do is the same on our side.

Here I fundamentally disagree with IQ orthodoxy. Simply- I disbelieve in /g/ & I don't think that high accomplishment of a particular group is reducible to some genetic configuration. In this case, I also disagree with the statement that Jews, as a group, are somehow morally defective (even if you use a more delicate characterization).

What is beyond doubt is that ethnic Jews are in many fields over-represented in the past 150-200 years in the (broadly defined) Western world. No question about it.

But, historically- Greeks had laid the foundation for Western civilization, and the main traits going back to classical & Hellenistic Greeks, have become global.

How could we then explain the "Greek miracle" from, say, -700 to -100? Were they some superhuman genetic mutants, in comparison with all contemporary civilizations (Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern, ..)?

Let's give a list from Murray:

    • Artistic realism / Greece, circa –500
    • Linear perspective / Italy, circa 1413
    • Artistic abstraction / France, last half of 19C
    • Polyphony / Central France, 11C–13C
    • Drama / Greece, in the century following –534, and India, date unknown
    • The novel / Europe from 1500, culminating in England, 1740–1749
    • Meditation / India, culminating circa –200
    • Logic / Athens, –4C
    • Ethics / China, India, and Greece, –520 to –320
    • Arabic numerals / India, no later than 8C
    • The mathematical proof / Greece, circa –585
    • The calibration of uncertainty / Europe, 1565–1657
    • The secular observation of nature / Greece and China, circa –600
    • The scientific method / Europe, 1589–1687

So, ancient Greeks did 6 out of 12 meta-inventions. There is no way one could ascribe this to some high IQ.

Both are covered by HBD (“heart” could also be described as “temperament” which is significantly heritable in aggregate).

The emphasized above is a significant faction, but not the only HBD faction, as you likely realize. Midwits like Bardon Kaldian equate HBD concerns only with IQ measuring, but the significance of HBD comprises of three facets:

    racial aesthetics (i.e., physical appearance),
temperament (or more poetically, soul), and
IQ (including creative expression, which aesthetically is related to soul/temperament)

  • Quote from Simplicius. tldr Russia is using armored columns again.

On the war front, the Ukrainians have noted a tremendous spike in large Russian armored assaults across every major front, which has flown in the face of the long-habituated “trickle” tactic. It appears the season of the ‘big offensive’ has again kicked off.

There are many reasons for this. One, is the fact that fall rasputitsa is starting, with roads becoming muddy and impassable to loafs, Ladas, bikes, scooters, donkeys, and other of the usual assault systems of the 21st century.

The second reason is that defoliating hedgerows exposes lone infantrymen, curbing their ability to conceal themselves with the usual two-man trickle.

Third, and perhaps most importantly—albeit most subjective—I believe that Russian command senses that most of the current hotspots are nearing critical mass for the collapse of Ukrainian resistance. The trickle method is a casualty-minimizing long term infiltration tactic that’s useful for shaping the battlefield along a given convergence point or objective, but at some point, when the ground is ‘shaped’ to maximum effect, and you have stacked your side’s advantages as steeply as possible, it can be decisive to finally rain down the finishing hammer blows en masse. This is particularly the case when as part of that ‘shaping’ phase, you have whittled down the enemy’s local defenses in the form of ISR, drone teams, EW, etc.

Just in the past day alone there were at least three or four large armored pushes in areas such as Dobropillya of the Pokrovsk axis, Mirnograd, and Shakhove. In each case, the AFU naturally claimed to have destroyed everything and repulsed the attacks, though oddly map makers noted gains in some of the areas of these assaults.

Hopefully it's just because you're too young, not an ignoramus, but you know squat about Reagan and the Cold War. Reagan thought of America as a beacon of freedom to the world. Though not close to what was built by the Founders, the America of the 1980s was still much freer than most can imagine anymore. It was a beacon, and that beacon helped guide Russia and Eastern Europe out of Communism, with a whole lot of help and luck.

That doesn't mean President Reagan favored going into the East Bloc with military force. NATO was formed for containment. Years before his time, America and NATO did not get involved in either the Hungarian attempted revolution 69 years back nor the Czechoslovakian "Prague Spring" 12 years later. Of course, one could retort, it's have started WWIII. (Now, see, the Russians can't do... well, yeah, nuclear weapons... so maybe we should back the hell off.) The hot conflicts during the whole period were proxy wars in countries that were there to for in neither camp or too close for comfort for one side or the other. The Russian invasion of Afghanistan and wars in Angola and other places in Africa could be considered the former, while Cuba, Salvador, Nicaragua, etc. are cases of the latter.

After the CW ended, the NeoCons, formerly mostly leftists, got drunk with SoleSuper-Power. Anyone someone thought was a bad guy was fair game. There have been and still are poorly run countries and tyrannical rulers all over the world. We didn't make it our special purpose to "regime change" them during the CW time, and we shouldn't be doing it now. NOT! OUR! BUSINESS!

As far as Jews go, of course they have many negative traits. Just, I am not an antisemite as, say, Marx was. Or many distinguished Europeans..

    Marx To Engels
    Manchester, 1862

The Jewish nigger Lassalle who, I’m glad to say, is leaving at the end of this week, has happily lost another 5,000 talers in an ill-judged speculation. The chap would sooner throw money down the drain than lend it to a ‘friend’, even though his interest and capital were guaranteed. In this he bases himself on the view that he ought to live the life of a Jewish baron, or Jew created a baron (no doubt by the countess). Just imagine! ... It is now quite plain to me — as the shape of his head and the way his hair grows also testify — that he is descended from the negroes who accompanied Moses’ flight from Egypt (unless his mother or paternal grandmother interbred with a nigger). Now, this blend of Jewishness and Germanness, on the one hand, and basic negroid stock, on the other, must inevitably give rise to a peculiar product. The fellow’s importunity is also nigger-like.

    Marx
    Herr Vogt, 1870

The Weekly Mail claimed that although Levy does not pull the wool over the public’s eyes, he does give them a ‘Y’ in place of an ‘I’, and indeed, among the 22,000 Levis counted by Moses during the march through the wilderness, there was not a single Levi who spelled his name with a ‘Y’. Just as Edouard Simon absolutely insists on belonging to the Latin race, Levy positively insists on belonging to the Anglo-Saxon race. At least once a month, therefore, he attacks the un-British policies of Mr
Disraeli, for Disraeli, ‘the Asiatic mystery’, unlike the Daily Telegraph, does not originate from the Anglo-Saxon race. But what use is Levy attacking Mr D’Israeli and taking a ‘Y’ instead of an ‘I’ when mother nature has written his lineage in the middle of his face in the most extravagant black-letter script. The nose of Slavkenbergius’ mysterious stranger (see Tristram Shandy), [33] who fetched
himself the finest nose from the promontory of noses, was only the talk of Strasbourg for a week, while Levy’s nose is the talk of the City of London all year round.

The hotel is full of Jews and fleas.

I am just stating the obvious- Palestinians are not a real people. They themselves said it a long time ago. They, their representatives & other Arabs. There is absolutely no need for a Palestinian state- and Palestinians don't want some nation state, they want the entire British Palestine without Jews. Why insist on a two states solution when neither party wants it?

The Holocaust was the centerpiece of postwar Soviet propaganda cosmology, as it was for us, but with major differences. For us, The Holocaust, the original sin that gives our perpetually at war totalitarian state meaning, was proprietarily Jewish. Stuff that happened in the same times and places to non-Jewish victims was not part of The Holocaust. Well, the post-national worker’s paradise, where every tribe was equal, can’t have that, and it doesn’t comport with their experience anyway. The Soviet understanding of The Holocaust was pretty much everything bad occupying Germans did (eg, the siege of Leningrad), and all victimhoods are equal (your math guys will quickly see what this does to Jewish victimhood per se in this case). Also non-Jewish Russian soldiers were a huge, huge prisoner group by themselves.

I'll reiterate what I wrote long time ago, so just a c-p.

The picture of poor, suffering Palestinians is a joke. They are a mixture of various Arabs & not a people at all. Not that there’s anything wrong with that – but I don’t see why I would care about some Arabs being anywhere around Israel (Jordan, Egypt, occupied territories,…)- even 20% of them in Israel proper? Palestinian Arabs are Arabs. They are, genealogically, a mixed middle eastern type like Druzes & similar Levantines (and Jews). They do not possess historical continuity of memory that constitutes identity. Jews, on the other hand, are transplanted Levantines who have retained their identity from past ca. 3000 years (script, their scriptures, customs, law, food taboos, language, ethics, even clothing…). Palestinians do not write in Hebrew script; they don’t speak Hebrew or Aramaic; they don’t have emotional connection to Jerusalem in the same sense & intensity as Jews do; …. In other words- genealogy is of no importance, identity rooted in history is everything.

Zionism is a typical mid-to-late 19th C East European national movement among Jewish masses & nationally conscious Jewish intellectuals. Despite all their congresses, despite the Balfour Declaration- there would be no Israel now had not Hitler come to power. Jewish nationalists insisted on their aliyahs in the beginning of the 20th C, but it is evident that there would have been not enough Jews in what is now Israel, had not Hitler begun with his persecutions in 1933. So, technically, Hitler acted as the catalyst for swelling Jewish population in Palestine/Israel, both before WW2 & after (DPs). Now, there were enough Jews in the British mandate for a small Jewish state. No grand Zionist plan could have achieved that. Only Hitler. Arabs, naturally, resisted the influx of foreigners- for them, hated Westerners & completely alien. Instead of letting Jews have their statelet, smaller than Slovenia (which is the butt of jokes here in Croatia re. size) they attacked them with the intention of destroying them completely. And what should all those Jews do, let Arabs slaughter them? True, they came; true, it was their ancient homeland- unlike Arabs’; true, there would not have been enough demographic Jewish material, had Nazi persecutions not have happened. Those Jews did not settle in an empty land, but also, that land was not clearly defined & its population possessed only religious consciousness, which is backward. Most Jews simply bought land from Arabs. Arabs then went to wars. And they lost.

Israel is a great example of an almost unimaginably successful society & culture, from science, their national culture, to technology, innovation, agriculture… everything. If one looks at any Arab or Muslim country, on can find only backwardness, shithollery or corrupt tribal leaders, combined with hysterical aggressiveness, lunacy & stone age mentality (honor killings, their stupid women who are nothing but walking wombs, mass hysteria during their meetings, …). Even more impressive is the resurrection of Hebrew language, which has been just a written language of Jewish literature, and became, after more than 2000 years, modern vernacular – a situation unparalleled in history. And that, by now, ca. 7 million people have learned to use it from a scratch- this is virtually a miracle. The existence of Israel is astounding. Apart from the military & similar stuff, Israelis have succeeded in agriculture (where they have been absent for centuries), in modern technology in most areas (say- USB stick), in irrigation, in medical innovation). It isn’t for nothing they are dubbed start up nation. It is easy to compare their land, the quality of life there, how people work, learn, teach- with the way of life of surrounding peoples, from Egypt to Iran. Israel is a shining example of a modern powerful creative civilized society. All Arabs, including Palestinians, are basically- lunatic stone age hordes that should be dumped to their desert shitholes.

    Some people talk about "Judeo-Nazis".

There is no equivalence between Nazi persecution of Jews & Israel fighting Arabs, especially Palestinians. Nazis have exterminated ca. 2/3 of European Jews, and would have murdered them all had they won the war. Israeli Jews- they accepted the UN plan of the partition of Palestine; they attacked Arabs in 1967 only because Arab exterminationist rhetoric & Nasser’s war plans have risen to the level of immediate aggression with the aim to completely obliterate Israelis from the face of the earth. Then, in Nazi Germany Jews had been persecuted, tagged, their life boycotted, … In Israel, Arabs are freer & live better than in most Arabs countries; In Germany, Jews were expelled from universities- in Israel, on the other hand, they give additional lectures to Israeli Arabs so they could enter prestigious Israeli universities, where they, Arabs, constitute ca. 20% of the student population (which is virtually the same as the general population). Could one imagine that Nazi Germany would promote Jewish students in Heidelberg or Goettingen? As regards occupied territories, Arabs have their own school system with universities. Can one imagine that Nazi Germany would have allowed higher education in occupied Czechoslovakia, Poland or Russia? So these parallels between Nazi Germans & Israelis are simply deliriously lunatic.

Israelis should have dumped all Arabs in 1967 to Egypt & Jordan & there would have been peace now. Or, concisely:

If you aren’t Jewish, the way your kissing their asses is embarrassing. You’re certainly entitled to support Israel and the Jews scattered around the globe, but that doesn’t mean Palestinians don’t exist. Or that a place called Palestine didn’t exist.

There is very convincing evidence that 2/3 of European Jews didn’t die during WW2. The arguments against it get more convincing every time I’ve dipped into it. And I went into it believing it was true. Just the fact that laws had to be passed to punish anyone who questions the magic number, destroys their version. I know of no other historical event, no other “massacre” that needs secular government to enforce belief in it by law.

You, of course, can believe whatever you want.

Why do you believe that taking some position is kissing one's ass?

The main threat to the West is Islam, which is an indicator of West's decadence & no. 1 enemy of my race and civilization. Israel is the first line of defense against this barbarism- as are Ukrainians against Russian Oriental despotism. Palestinians exist as a himeric people, as I said. There are no Singaporean people; no Jordanian people; no Bolivian people; no Swiss people; no Nigerian people. If these states ceased to exist, nothing would be lost, meaning a national identity and culture. In the case of Palestinian Arabs there is nothing to be solved nor healed. Their assimilation in weary neighboring Arab countries is the only solution.

Close to emotional home- the greatest tragedy of WW2 after the shoah is expulsion of Germans from East Prussia, Silesia, ... 13 million of them, and perhaps 1 million killed in the process. It was 25% of Germany's nation-state space during the 1920s. And home to Kant, Hilbert, Virchow, Schopenhauer...if you count them- they weigh more than Polish and Russian cultures combined. This is the gravest collective injustice done to a people that went not just unpunished, but was orchestrated by Allies. But the net result was, cynically, mostly positive. No more German expansion to the East. And that tragedy is superseded only by the contemporary crisis of not just Germany, but of the entire West, something which threatens our collective destiny due to our own decadence.
Kurds should have a state; Tibetans should have a state; Pashtuns should have a state, not this Taliban travesty; Uyghurs should have a state; Catalonians should have a state; Lebanese-Syrian Christians should have a state; ..Palestinians- not. They are an artificial creation, not a genuine people- in some aspects as created as Moldovans who are both emotionally, historically & culturally no more than a variety of Romanians.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBPd28WYPFQ

As for shoah not happening- that can pass only in the American milieu. No Czech, Pole, Ukrainian, Croat, Russian, Hungarian, Romanian... of sane mind denies that "event" had happened. People are just annoyed by constant Jewish me-the-greatest-victims- card playing. Just- it is nothing after we glance at neighboring Gypsies, Muslims, and some other truly different races. We have more important issues than babble about Jews, any variant.

As for Jewish subversives (multiculturalism, "antifascism", New Left ..) in our midst, we easily recognize and dismantle them. New Left not so easily, they are mostly non-Jewish.

Islam has devolved in the past 100-200 years into something unbearable. True, they were aggressive from the beginning- especially against Hindus and Buddhists- but what is problematic: they seem to not possess the capacity for adaptation. Only sects like Ahmadiyya, Ismailis and new religions like Bahai.

Due to many historical-theological- cultural circumstances, they do not adapt & are always at odds with others. I do not idealize the Chinese, but they change their names into Brian, James, Robert...in the US, or Robert, Jacques ..in France (who would differentiate between all those Wang-Pong-Tangs?). Earlier, Jews adapted by becoming Karl, Siegfried, Heinrich...in Germany or Louis, Robert, Guillaume... in France.

But with Muslims- not. They retain Arabic names (although most are not Arabs); they try to impose their customs and laws on their host nations (shariah); they have organized criminal gangs, brimming with racial- religious destructive hatred aimed at the natives (Jewish organized crime in the US was not ethnically motivated- the same with Irish, Sicilian,...); they create no go zones (only blacks in the US are, in their primitive ways, similar); they...

Essentially, they are eternal aliens. Their civilization automatically creates enemies from Europe to authentic Russia to India to China and even Japan.

Jack D would say so, and his blood-soaked holy books would support the inference. I used to work on Nevada Indian reservations, where people had great-grandfathers who were slaughtered by US Army troops, was that somehow less sad because the soldiers were wearing different arm-bands?

I have Hungarian relatives who were tortured and murdered by the Jew thug Bela Kun, and Irish relatives who were tortured and murdered by guys with Downton Abbey accents, can somebody explain to me why Anne Frank's death was more tragic or more horrible?

All I can suss out of this, is that Jewish deaths are sadder because racist Jews consider their lives to be more valuable than some stupid goy day-laborer, despite the fact that it was the goy's ancestors who built and created everything that made this civilization worth living in, and not the Jew swindler's-list guy, but somehow we are supposed to weep extra jumbo-sized weepy tears for the deaths of Jews that happened during the largest war in history, largely instigated by Jews, in which tens of millions of people perished, but the only ones whose deaths mattered were the guys wearing weird pajamas whose relatives took over all the publishing houses and university chairs.

I find it difficult to believe that people in the middle ages would throw a person down a well out of which they themselves drew water. They were ignorant, not stupid. Now perhaps a lord or soldier who didn't use the well might have cast some poor soul down into it, but not the villagers themselves.

The Romans renamed Judea to Palestine as a humiliation after the Bar Kokhba revolt was lost in 136. Jerusalem was renamed Aelia Capitolina. The idea was to literally erase the country and its history from the map.

After that, the name pops up now and then but as you noted, the Ottomans (the ruling power for many centuries) didn't really call it that, nor did the local Arabs use that word very often. The big revival was when the British and the French carved up Ottoman Syria and the British called their part "Palestine" since they had to put a name on the map. The original League of Nations Mandate for "Palestine" included the area of Transjordan (now called Jordan) but then the British peeled that part off.

Had the Arabs won the 1948 war, there would have no doubt been no "Palestine" - the territory would have just been split up among the conquering armies - some to Egypt, some to Syria, some to Jordan. This would have been fine with the local Arabs who didn't really have any sort of "Palestinian" identity or national aspiration (and it wouldn't have mattered if it was fine or not because Egypt/Syria/Jordan would not have consulted them or given away that which they conquered by force). No one asked for a state called "Palestine" to be formed in Gaza or the West Bank from 1948 to 1967 - Gaza was Egyptian territory and the West Bank was part of Jordan and if any Arab living their had asked for independence, they would have been dealt with harshly.

When the PLO was formed in 1964, the "Palestine" that they wanted to liberate was the land known to everyone else as the State of Israel.

This has not really changed. If you ask any "Palestinian", a "Palestine" consisting of the West Bank and Gaza is really just a temporary stopgap at best. The "Palestine" that they want includes the entire state of Israel "from the river to the sea" , which would necessitate the extermination of all the Jews currently living there (who in any event aren't going to want to live as jhimmis in a Muslim hellhole). October 7 was just a preview of what they want to do to the entire state of Israel. Any Arab who says otherwise is just saying nice things to please the West but given their druthers, this would be the plan. Maybe if they only had to kill half the Jewish population and the other half fled, that would be ok too.

Somehow, the prospect of being slaughtered (again) en masse does not appeal to the Jews of Israel so they do what they have to in order to prevent this from happening. If they have anything to say about it, they are not going to allow the birth of a "Palestine" that includes Tel Aviv, nor are they even going to allow an enemy state to be formed on their border whose perpetual goal will be to destroy them. Who in their right mind would permit this?

    Replies: @Rich

Herodotus referred to the region as “Palestine” in the 5th cen. BC in his histories. Why are you guys trying so hard to pretend there’s no such thing as Palestine. There’s a place called Germany, it was defeated in WW2, no one felt the need to pretend there’s no such thing as Germany. (As you know, Germany as a state didn’t exist until 1871) You guys have to stop this silly game. It won’t work and it’s not necessary. You guys are there because you’ve won the place through war. Something must have happened between 636 and 1867. Maybe global warming? 1200 years of Muslim rule? IDK. But by the time Mark Twain got there, he described it thus:

“. . . a desolate country whose soil is rich enough, but is given over wholly to weeds—a silent mournful expanse. . . . A desolation is here that not even imagination can grace with the pomp of life and action. . . . We never saw a human being on the whole route. . . . There was hardly a tree or a shrub anywhere. Even the olive and the cactus, those fast friends of the worthless soil, had almost deserted the country."

The Arabs definitely didn't call it "Palestine" because Arabic is lacking the letter P.

On October 6, 2023, there were ZERO Israeli invaders in Gaza. When Israel left Gaza in 2005, every single Jew left (because the Arabs would have killed them if they had stayed). The Israelis even dug up their dead from the cemeteries and took them too. (Hamas would have surely desecrated the graves).

Hamas had its own little Hamastan where they were free to kill their fellow Arabs (as they are doing right now, today). They didn't want Gaza, they wanted Tel Aviv and they can't have it. "Palestine" to them does not mean the 1967 borders, it means the whole damn thing "From the River to the Sea".

Let's say the Lenni Lenape tribe decides that they want Manhattan back. After all, history did not begin in 1626. They get some hang gliders and they land in Times Square and kill a bunch of tourists. How would the US respond to that?

Alexander’s suggested dialog of Parmenides in an old Western movie was pretty funny:

a TV western based on this premise, where a roving band of pre-Socratic desperadoes terrorizes Texas. The climax is no doubt when the hero strides onto Main Street, revolver in hand, saying “There’s a new sheriff in town.” And Parmenides gruffly responds “No, I’m pretty sure that’s impossible.”

My immediate thought was, Germ could make some hay from this.

But Scott does a creditable job of it in the end:

The old man stamped his boot in the red dirt, kicking up a tiny cloud of dust. “There’s a new sheriff in town,” he told them.

“No, I’m pretty sure that’s impossible,” says Parmenides. “There’s no such thing as change, only the appearance thereof.”

“Well then,” says the old man, “I reckon you won’t mind the false illusion of your surroundings appearing to change into a jail cell.” And he took out his six-shooter and held it steady.

“Hold on,” said Thales. “We don’t want any trouble here. All is water, so all we did was steal a little bit of water from people. We can give you some water back, and everything will be even, right?” He gestured to a watering trough for horses on the side of the street, which was full of the stuff.

“Just so long as you don’t mind being sprayed with some very hard water from my squirt gun,” the old man answered, and the six-shooter was pointed at the Milesian now.

“Ha!” said Zeno of Elea. “You don’t scare us. In order to hit Thales, your bullet would have to get halfway to him, then half of the remaining distance, and so on. But that would require an infinite number of steps, therefore it is impossible.”

“Sorry,” said the old man, “I couldn’t hear you because it’s logically impossible for the sound waves encoding your speech to reach my ears.”

“We’re not even the same people as the guys who stole those cattle!” said Heraclitus. “Personal identity is an illusion!”

“Then you won’t mind coming to the courthouse with me,” replied the old man “to help the judge imprison some other people who look just like you.”

The last of them, the tall one, said nothing. He just raised his revolver in a fluid motion and shot at the old man.

The old man saw it coming and jumped out of the way. The air was briefly full of bullets. Bang! Thales went down! Bang bang! Heraclitus! Bang bang! Parmenides and Zeno. Bang bang bang! The old man was hit in the arm, but still standing. Bang bang bang bang…

It was just the old man and the tall one now. The tall one picked up his gun and fired. Nothing happened. Out of bullets.

The old man smiled wryly, his six-shooter still in his hand.

“I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking – did he fire six shots, or only five? Well, you’ve got to ask yourself a question – do you feel lucky? Well, do you, punk?”

The tall one didn’t budge. “Man is the measure of all things,” said Protagoras. “If I believe you fired six shots, then by my personal epistemic standards, you fired six shots.”

The old man didn’t say anything.

“You see,” the Sophist continued. “Out of all of them, I alone was truly consistent. They all came up with clever theories, then abandoned them whenever it conflicted with their self-interest. I was more honest. I just said at the beginning that my self-interest determined truth, and so never suffered any temptation to depart from my position.”

The old man took off the bandana covering his face. “Man may be the measure of all things. But I’ve taken your measure, Protagoras, and found it wanting.”

    “Socrates?!” the Sophist gasped.

“The only truly consistent people are the dead, Protagoras,” he said – and squeezed the trigger.

  • The Arabs never called it Palestine.
    Except formally. Wiki has:

Between 636 and 640, the Muslim armies of the second Islamic caliph Umar conquered Palestine.[179][lxxiii][lxxiv] Under Islamic rule, Christians, Jews and Samaritans were protected as fellow Abrahamic monotheists or “peoples of the Book” and allowed to practice their religions in peace.[212] The Muslims also lifted the Romans’ centuries-long ban on Jews in Jerusalem.[213]

The Muslims organized the territory of the Byzantine Dioceses Orientes (Syria) into five military districts, or provinces (jund, pl. ajnad).[214][lxxv][lxxvi] The territory of Palaestina Prima and Palaestina Tertia became Jund Filastin and stretched from Aqaba in the south to the lower Galilee in the north and from Arish in the west to Jericho in the east.[215][lxxvii] The Tulunids later expanded the borders of the province eastwards and southwards to include regions in modern-day southern Jordan and north-western Saudi Arabia.[216][lxxviii] The newly founded city Ramla became Jund Filastin‘s administrative capital and most important city.[217] Jund al-Urdunn [[Urduwn = Jordan, ed]] corresponded with Palaestina Secunda, covering most of the Galilee, the western part of Peraea in Transjordan, and the coastal cities Acre and Sur (Tyre).[218] Tabariyyah (Tiberias) replaced Scythopolis as the province’s capital.[219]

Throughout the period, Palestine was among the most prosperous and fertile provinces of the caliphate.[220] Palestine’s wealth derived from its strategic location as a hub for international trade, the influx of pilgrims, its excellent agricultural produce, and from a number of local crafts.[221] Products manufactured or traded in Palestine included building materials from marble and white-stone quarries, spices, soaps, olive oil, sugar, indigo, Dead Sea salts, and silk.[222] Palestinian Jews were expert glassmakers whose wares became known as “Jewish glass” in Europe.[223] Palestine was also known for its book production and scribal work.[224]

The name “Palestine” was no longer used [[by the Ottoman Turks, ed]] as the official name of an administrative unit under the Ottomans because they typically named provinces after their capitals. Nonetheless, the old name remained popular and semi-official,[325] with many examples of its usage in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries surviving.[326][327][328] The 16th-century Jerusalem-based Islamic jurist Sayf al-Islam Abu’l Sa’ud Effendi defined the term as an alternative name for Arazi-i Muqaddas (Ottoman Turkish for “the Holy Land”).[323] The 17th-century Ramla-based jurist Khayr al-Din al-Ramli often used the term “Filastin” in his fatawat (religious edicts) without defining the term, although some of his fatawat suggest that it more or less corresponded with the borders of Jund Filastin.[323] Thomas Salmon’s 18th-century book, Modern history or, the present state of all nations, states that “Jerusalem is still reckoned the capital city of Palestine, though much fallen from its ancient grandeur.”[329]

You are talking about 636? That was a long time ago.

    >Throughout the period, Palestine was among the most prosperous and fertile provinces of the caliphate.

The Arabs definitely didn't call it "Palestine" because Arabic is lacking the letter P.

    the fraud

    You're misusing this term.

Fraud is obtaining something by false pretenses. Since no one has shown that a troll farm's Facebook posts changed the vote, nothing was obtained, so it's not fraud.

It may be dishonest, but that's not illegal and there is a vast amount of dishonesty about, which you apparently haven't noticed, except in this one microscopic case.

If whoever paid the troll farm was told the payment would change the vote, then perhaps the payor has a fraud claim against the troll farm, but the US electorate does not.

Alexander's suggested dialog of Parmenides in an old Western movie was pretty funny:

a TV western based on this premise, where a roving band of pre-Socratic desperadoes terrorizes Texas.

The US is responsible for 30% of global manufacturing

You cite what appears to be an auto-generated, content-farming site (which supposedly cites "Sources: Manufacturing, value added (current US$) - World Bank").

The Internet by the late 2010s was getting weighed down by these kinds of auto-created sites. Today it's overflowing with them (rendering "Googling" often frustrating).

    But your own source says:

"The [U.S.] accounts for roughly 9.5% of global manufacturing."

So where is your 30% coming from?

    __________

    From a non-AI site:

A New Study Finds the US Share of Global Manufacturing Will Fall to 11 Percent by 2030

    By Meghan Ostertag|February 18, 2025

Source: United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), “The Future of Industrialization: Building Future-Ready Industries to Turn Challenges into Sustainable Solutions,” (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: UNIDO, October 2024).

Commentary: For much of the 20th century and into the early 2000s, high-income countries dominated global industrial production, namely the United States, Japan, and European nations. The United States was responsible for one-fourth of global manufacturing value-added, while Japan and Germany followed with 11 and 8 percent, respectively. In total, high-income countries accounted for 75 percent of global industrial output, while China was responsible for just 6 percent. However, due to the numerous national efforts to increase manufacturing capacity, such as “Made in China 2025”, China has upended the global manufacturing hierarchy. China currently holds the greatest share of global manufacturing value-added, with several sources estimating it controls between 26 and 30 percent. UNIDO estimates that by 2030, China will continue to gain ground in manufacturing industries, most worryingly in advanced technologies, increasing its share to 45 percent. The United States is estimated to hold 11 percent of the global share.

When Steve was marketing his book on some podcast (I think it was the Aporia podcast, maybe), he surprisingly re-spun his departure from NR as just some trivial business dispute -- nothing whatsoever to do with his views. He said he was always on great terms with them, and vice versa.

I remember the interviewer was surprised by that answer. True or not, I remember thinking that that was a weird way to market the book, and that it would have been more effective to go with: "I was telling uncomfortable truths, and they couldn't handle that." On the day the Israel-Hamas Gaza Truce comes into effect, Steve Sailer has offered some Substack-advice ... to aspiring Hollywood actors:

    MR. SPOCK'S ADVICE
Leonard Nimoy explained to his son that when a true professional actor auditions, he answers any question that he might possibly be asked with "Yes."

    by Steve Sailer
    October 10, 2025

Leonard Nimoy’s advice to his son [was that] how the answer to any question the casting director might ask you at a movie audition is always “Yes.” Nimoy figured that’s not a lie because you have a few weeks before shooting starts to hire an expert to teach you how to do anything you don’t know how to do yet.

    https://www.stevesailer.net/p/mr-spocks-advice

To tell someone "Yes" to everything can easily bleed into manipulative lying (though Steve makes a joke about it, about Leonard Nimoy getting roped into having to cram Lakota language-lessons for a role as an American-Indian).

If you encounter someone who you have reason to believe is doing this "Always Yes" routine, well, if you ask me, you ought to be wary of entrusting such a person with much power over you or your society or security, because something may be a little amiss.

OTOH, maybe Steve is (highly indirectly) alluding to the Palestinians and Israel:

Palestinians: "With this truce, will you cease assassinating and bombing our people?"
    Israel: "Yes."

    Thanks for thinking of me.

My late father used to say (in Yiddish), "Wanting is better than knowing." If you are motivated to do something, you can do a better job than a supposed expert who doesn't really give a shit about doing the job well.

Want (the need to feed your family) is a strong motivator. In Nimoy's autobiography, he mentions that before Star Trek he had never had a job in Hollywood that lasted more than a week, even though he had been there for a decade. He was one of those guys who would show up ONCE in a random episode of a weekly TV series or have a bit part in a B movie (and get paid union scale). In Zombies of the Stratosphere, he played a Martian named Narab (DESPITE NOT BEING A REAL MARTIAN - what a Joo faker!) Some weeks no one called and he didn't know how he was gonna pay the rent. So if a casting director called up and asked "do you know how to ride a horse?", the answer was yes, hell yes, you have never seen someone who rides a horse as well as I do!

Leonard Nimoy was not doing surgery on people without a medical degree. Who really cares whether he was a fluent speaker of Lakota Sioux or not? As long as the director and the audience were pleased with his performance, he didn't cheat anyone.

The old Hollywood didn't really give a shit about "authentic" casting. They just wanted to sell tickets. They would put brown makeup on Natalie Wood and viola, she was a Puerto Rican. (The hilarious part about that movie is that Chita Rivera IS a Puerto Rican and they STILL put brown makeup on her,) The new Hollywood got a 100% (well 50%) "real Hispanic" Rachel Zegler to play the Natalie Wood part and you know what? Natalie Wood was much better. Should Natalie Wood have said no because she was not a real Puerto Rican and didn't speak fluent Spanish?

Has any “Russian disinformation” (recent, not Soviet-era or even Yeltsin era, which seems to be a real conceptual obstacle to a lot of boomers) not turned out to be true?

It is a mixed record and shows that both the MSM and alt-right are incapable of proper journalism.

The Hunter laptop was not Russian disinformation.

The Russians did involve themselves in the 2016 election. They admitted to it and yet we still have Russian supporters on alt-right that smock the allegation as an MSM creation. They for some reason think that an ex-KGB spook who has people killed would never cross that type of ethical line.

Which shows most journalists are lazy and want to live in a bubble. Most alt-right bloggers have proven themselves as no different. They just have different agendas.

The track record for “Russian disinformation” is that it's a really useful way of discrediting information that hurts "our people", like Hillary's private server and Hunter's laptop - indeed it was powerful enough for Twitter and the media to totally ignore the latter during the 2020 election campaign.

OTOH "our" disinformation - who shot the Maidan protesters, Bucha - is speeding round the world in real time.

Note that the truth or falsity of the information is neither here nor there. It's all about who holds the megaphone.

The utter state of the National Book Awards

Two of the shortlisted novels, by Washington and Alameddine, explore distance and connection between gay men and their mothers. Rutherford's and Russell's books are historical fiction, while Majumdar's novel spends one tense week with an Indian woman trying to emigrate in the face of a climate crisis.

Lomez refers to the [U.S.] National Book Award 2025 Fiction finalists for 2025. There are five finalists (nominated for the grand prize).

A White-male has, this year, been granted one of the slots. Counting all genders and sexual-identities, full-White heterosexuals got 2 / 5 slots. LGBTQs got another 2 / 5 slots. And the 5th slot? Swept up in the big trend of Indians Taking Over Everything.

    The nominees:

1.) Rabih Alameddine [Middle Eastern gay male]
    - - - b.1966 in Jordan; Lebanese/Druze; Gay; active in California.
    - Novel: The True True Story of Raja the Gullible (and His Mother), Grove Press / Grove Atlantic

    2.) Megha Majumdar [Indian-Hindu female]
    - - - b.1987, Calcutta, India, dark-skinned Dravidian racial-stock. Probably a "Brahmin" caste-person, the way these things go. She showed up in the USA in 2006. Harvard, Johns Hopkins, degrees in anthropology. Married and has a mixed-race son b.2021 with a White man surnamed Labik (I assume Labik is not Jewish).
    - Novel: A Guardian and a Thief, Knopf / Penguin Random House

    3.) Karen Russell [White female]
    - - - b. 1981, apparently of White-European Christian origin; married to a Tony Perez, who appears to be full-White and looks very much like the main character from The Big Lebowski.
    - Novel: The Antidote, Knopf / Penguin Random House

    4.) Ethan Rutherford
    - - - b.1979?, White male, heterosexual, with ties to Seattle, Minneapolis, and Hartford. Married to a wife evidently also of White-US origin, and has children with her. Writes stories that apparently deal with White courage and daring. The man looks to be a downright throwback to a distant-past time. As if a typical literary man b.1879 (not 1979) had gotten lost in the teleporter and zapped to our time.
    - Novel: North Sun: Or, the Voyage of the Whaleship Esther, A Strange Object / Deep Vellum Publishing

    5.) Bryan Washington
    - - - b.1993, Black male, Gay; largely a writer of LGBTQ Fiction, including the book he was nominated for.
    - Novel: Palaver, Farrar, Straus and Giroux / Macmillan Publishers

Book synopses via National Book Award website:

1.) Rabih Alameddine’s The True True Story of Raja the Gullible (and His Mother) tells the tale of a Lebanese family across six decades—from the Lebanese Civil War to the COVID-19 pandemic—with humor and heartbreak.

2.) Set over the course of one week in a near-future Kolkata devastated by food insecurity and climate change, Megha Majumdar’s novel A Guardian and a Thief asks how far we might be willing to go to protect those we love.

3.) Karen Russell’s The Antidote is set in a fictional Dust Bowl–era Nebraska town on the brink of collapse—bracing against the forces of the Great Depression and the community’s violent histories with Indigenous people and the land.

4.) Ethan Rutherford’s seafaring saga, North Sun: Or, the Voyage of the Whaleship Esther, follows a ragtag crew embarking on a rescue mission and whaling journey that urges the cast of characters to scrutinize their own choices.

5.) In Palaver, Bryan Washington’s unnamed narrator is unceremoniously reunited with his estranged mother in Tokyo, and together, they revisit memories that span decades and borders, compelling them to understand and, ultimately, forgive one another.
