That’s a fair comment. However, “personal” often equates “inaccessible.” Van Gogh was panned as well because his work did not “reverberate” with the masses. Only time will tell if Lynch’s star will rise or fall. Just as the mudslingers here who easily denigrate renowned auteurs like Welles because his films did not “reverberate” with them.
