RSSThere has been a lot of this kind of intersectional identity politics in Finland lately. It is not surprising that they have that Good Hair Day text in English as all their ideas are imported from the US. Social media activists constantly talk about cultural appropriation or normative whiteness and use American terms such as POC in Finnish texts.
The women in the BBC story are not very prominent figures in the activist scene. I have only heard of one of them before in another context. Michaela Moua was a top basketball player in her youth (she is 43 now). She was a regular in the Finnish national team for years and played for Ohio State University and several pro teams in Europe. It seems she has been working in anti-racism/multiculturalism projects for NGOs and public sector bodies after her sports career.
