RSSI joined the Navy in the 60’s as I was subject to the draft and definitely did not want to go to Vietnam. Didn’t work out, my cousins who volunteered for the draft (3 yrs instead of 4) went to Germany, I got 5 campaign stars on my Vietnam Campaign medal, agent orange exposure, and now multiple myeloma and hearing problems. When someone thanks me for my service I am grateful but warn them that it’s not worth the price. The Saker’s point that all of us joined for the benefits and to kill foreigners totally ignores those who basically had no choice and in any case is only marginally true for the post-Vietnam all-volunteer forces. I am notoriously anti-war and am pretty disgusted in all the automatic worship now attached to all military “heroes” but that’s no reason to attack people who are real victims of cowardly bastards like Bush2 and Cheney.
Did they examine the rather large subcategory of loans that are done entirely online? The last several times I have mortgaged/refinanced it was done thru the internet with no face-to-face interaction at all until the closer showed up with the final paperwork after approval. If their theory is valid I should think that the fact that my name sounds very blackish would have given me some difficulty. I suspect that an 800-plus credit score had more to do with the prompt approvals…
Mr. Blow is an idiot. Period.
On the songs only one quibble. You left out the classic “Free Mexican Air Force”. We’re flying tonight 🙂
Lived in Mexico City in 89-90. Advice from their surgeon-general at that time was dont drink tap water u less you boil it for at least 20 minutes. Tried that n put the water in the dog dish. The dogs wouldnt touch it. We all drank bottled water for the duration. Kept bottled water in bathrooms for tooth brushing n advised guests to keep their mouth shut in the shower. Using these rules n eating like the locals we never had a MR problem.
