RSSIn response to another post upwards:
Indy's already has a black police chief. He was hired after the former police chief resigned over the David Bisard case.
David Bisard was an IMPD officer who was DWI while on duty and ran into a group of motorcyclists, killing one and severely injuring two others. IMPD handled the case very poorly from the start, some believe on purpose so as to not incriminate one of their own.

I was honestly hoping that whoever the murderer was, he would die in a shootout with police or something similar. I hate that Nathan's widow and family and friends will now have to endure a trial.
"So basically, you're saying that the West Side, the area near the Airport and Ben Davis HS, are awful? Are we talking about ghetto or is this an area of lower working class whites who will soon be overrun by groids within the next decade?"
I think it close to becoming overrun, if not already.
Here is the specific address where Nathan was shot:
3521 W 16th St
Indianapolis, IN 46222
Only 2 tenths of a mile from his home.
I'm still not sure why anyone would choose to live there! There are enough mortgage default homes in Indy that it's not difficult to find something in a better neighborhood for almost as cheap. (Still probably not a great neighborhood, but better.)
OPTOMETRIST: I took my 7 yr old to a private practice optometrist in January. My son had 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/25 in the other. No other vision issues.
The optometrist recommended glasses! I didn't listen to him. Besides the fact that we do not have special vision insurance, my son doesn't need glasses for almost perfect vision!
I live in Indy. While the area where Nathan was killed isn't the worst crime area in the city, it certainly isn't what I would consider safe! (The worst area seems to be around the state fairgrounds.)
West 16th street where Nathan was killed is not a nice area. Lots of strip clubs and abandoned businesses line the street in that area.
It is not an area where I would be comfortable with my husband walking, even in the daylight, even while armed. You couldn't pay me to live in that area. I don't even like driving through there occasionally!
However, Indy is odd in that a person could drive two miles and be in a sketchy ghetto and then drive a few more miles and be in an area of $300k homes.
